3-0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as the guy below says
This lathe isn't nearly as bad as the other reviewer says. I've had one for a couple years and have had no such problems. It is typical of the current generation of Chinese made power tools. Quite a bit of functionality for the money, but with some rough edges. This monster (for a home shop) costs less in constant dollars than an old Craftsman metal lathe did and could spin one of those with it's 4 jaw chuck.

1-0 out of 5 stars Possible solution to chuck wobble
It is possible on a three jaw or four jaw chuck to get the jaws out of order of assembly and change the accuracy of the chuck.Especially if it is a chuck where one adjustment screw moves all of the jaws at once. Also if you can't fix the wobble by changing the jaws around you may use a lathe chuck grinder mounted to the cross slide to tru the chuck jaws up.It is a fairly simple operation if you can borrow the grinder set up.Hope this helps. It is common in machine shops to freshen the chuck jaws up occasionally even if they don't cause the stock to wobble.

1-0 out of 5 stars It would be great, but...
First of all I am not a home improvement enthusiast, The web site added that, Also you can't give anything less than a star to complete this form, I don't give it even a half of a brown dwarf. I work in a maintenance shop as a fabricator. It would be a great lathe for the price if it were somewhat accurate. The operators manual has you remove the 3 jaw chuck, clean it and inspect it. Then just put it back on and everything is good, wrong. Either it came out of round during this little clean up and inspection or some component's placement has caused it to be way out of alignment! So far out that you can see stock wobble. I have had this apart and together several times over the years attempting to get it true and have had it best with .005" wobble. The manual has no alignment instruction for the chuck. We use it for VERY COARSE, unimportant stuff. If Jet wants to send someone out to deal with it, fine, I won't be looking for them. I don't recommend anyone buy a Jet unless you are somewhat of an expert, someone that can take a sloppy lathe and make it good. ... Read more

Bosch MEK 700-Watt Built-In Kitchen Machine
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $1,099.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

The Bosch brand's reputation for excellence dates back to 1886, when Robert Bosch founded Robert Bosch GmbH as a precision-tool and engineering workshop in Stuttgart, Germany. Today, Bosch makes a wide variety of tools, kitchen appliances, and more. The company's MEK 7000 built-in 700-watt stand mixer is an amazing space saver that helps out so much when cooking, it almost seems as if there's an extra sous chef in the kitchen. The mixer actually fits into a kitchen counter, so you'll need to install it--but the base should fit almost flush with the counter and is shallow enough that you should be able to still use any cupboard it's placed over (you wouldn't be able to use a drawer under it). When the machine is not in use, there is a metal plate that covers the unit snugly. The mixer's strong motor is one of the most powerful you'll find among mixers of the same size, and it drives all accessories off a single mounting position. It has four speed settings, plus a momentary pulse function, that install just the right amount of control as you go from fluffing egg whites to making bread. The 6-quart bowl is made of stainless steel, kneads up to 12 pounds of dough, and comes with an antisplash cover. When the bowl is in place, it stands 9 inches above the counter. All the surfaces of this kitchen machine are easy to clean, and it sports convenient cord storage and suction feet that add stability. A handy instruction booklet, beating and stirring whisks, a spatula, and the exclusive stainless-steel Bread Master dough hook are included (other attachments are available separately), and all accessories are dishwasher-safe. 5-0 out of 5 stars This machine rocks!
I used a Kitchen Aid for 10 years, but had outgrown it (I have four boys who aren't even teenagers yet).I had the option of upgrading from my 5 qt model to a 6 qt model, but after reading and talking to friends, I decided to switch over to the Bosch.

I watched eBay for several weeks and ended up paying $230 for it.I installed it myself and it is just wonderful.I did have to give up a drawer, but that is a small price to pay IMHO.

With the stainless steel cover over it, I don't even notice it and it gets stuff piled on it just like the rest of the counters.People have come over and not even noticed it.I have since purchased the food processor and blender.I am very pleased with this machine.I envision many years of happy use. ... Canon 18x50 Image Stabilization All-Weather Binoculars w/Case, Neck Strap & Batteries

Editorial Review

Canon's 18x50 IS binoculars incorporate an optical image stabilizer for shake-free viewing and minimal eye fatigue. This technology was first developed for Canon video camcorders and is now available in many of Canon's binoculars. The system employs a Vari-Angle Prism, dual transparent plates, independent vertical and horizontal sensors, and a dedicated microprocessor to continuously adjust the prism to maintain a steady image.

The 18x50 IS binoculars feature a water-resistant, shock-resistant rubber coating for a nonslip grip and better durability. If you get caught in the rain and still want to view, you don't have to worry about the optics fogging up. These binoculars deliver high magnification and wide-field viewing. Controls for focusing and image stabilization are centrally located and accessible by both hands. These binoculars provide long eye relief for extra comfort.

Image Stabilization and More
With any high magnification binoculars, most users will experience frustrating image shake. Unless fixed to a tripod, image shake can render high magnification binoculars useless. Canon's IS technology is remarkably effective at eliminating this problem and is widely used by the television industry with Canon's professional broadcast quality video recording equipment. A special VAP (Vari-Angle Prism) corrective IS system sits between the objective lens group and the porro prism on each side of the binoculars. Within thousandths of a second of the binoculars being moved from their optical axis by vibrations, a detection system activates the IS mechanism. The VAP shape alters to refract or 'bend' the light path by precisely the right amount, thus fully compensating for the vibration. It is this essentially immediate response that effectively suppresses image shake.

Super Spectra Coating
A number of optical factors affect the brightness of an image, including the amount of incidental light that is reflected by the lens. An uncoated lens will refelect away as much as 8% of the incidentail light, significantly dimming the image. Canon's Super Spectra Coating prevents that reflection.

What do the numbers mean?
15x50? 8x25? The two numbers used to describe any pair of binoculars are their magnification — 8x, 12x, 15x and so on — and the diameter of their objective lenses — 25mm, 36mm, 50mm, and so on. The larger the first number is, the larger the object will appear to be in the objective lens. For instance, if you use a 10x lens and look at an object that is 100 yards away, it appears to be the same size as an object located just 10 yards away. The second number, the size of the objective lens, is important because the larger the objective lens, the more light it can admit for brighter, more detailed images, and the better suited they will be for lowlight situations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hi-tech solution for the gitters
This is only the second pair of binoculars I've owned but I've used many pairs before from low end to relatively high end ones like Nikons and Leicas.I can say without hesitation that the Canon 18X50s have met all my expectations for clarity, build quality, and ease of use. They are still quite heavy so, you won't be holding them too long in one position but, the stabilization feature provides a stable, gitter free image. In my opinion, this feature makes up for optics that may not be in the same league with the high end stuff: the Canon 18X50s have more usable magnification for the money for non-tripod, hand held applications.

While this is not a scientific comparison, this is an example of the useability and magnification: I was at the beach looking at a parasailer in the distance - with the naked eye (20/20 for the record), I could see the chute pattern and a black speck below it; with my old Minolta 10X50s (jittering in my hands)I could make out shapes of heads and legs; with the Canon 18X50s, I could clearly see two people, a man and a child as well as the chute's cords - pretty impressive.

My only two gripes that have also been mentioned before are: no lense caps and the eye cups are stiff, fit poorly (to my face any way) and are uncomfortable. I find it better to fold the cups back for "eye glass" use even though I don't wear glasses.Other than that, I am very pleased with this purchase and would also highly recommend purchasing from Adorama Camera - they are quick, accommodating and responsive.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting High-Tech Toy
I bought the Canon 18x image stabilizer binoculars a month ago and I love them.

The reason I bought these high-powered binoculars is I want to identify all the major landmarks in the San Jose South Bay area.My wife and I ride up to the mid-hill of Mt. Hamilton once a month. Most of the time before we are ready to turn back and coast down the hill, we spend a fair amount of time looking at the spectacular scenery of the San Jose and South Bay area.We want to identify as many landmarks as possible. With our compact Minolta 10x binoculars, we get a clear look at downtown San Jose and of course the Lockheed aircraft hangers. But we could not find the San Jose airport. With the new Canon binoculars, we can identify the airport and many other places. We can even find the street intersection that is only one street away from where we live. The interesting thing is once we identify a place, we can also use the compact Minolta to see the landmark, although with smaller vision. These Canon binoculars make excellent spotter.

The image stabilizer is an interesting high-tech feature. It helps to get a clear and stable view if you press the stabilizer button. However, the binoculars weight 2.6 lbs.I am tired after holding them for two to three minutes.Last time we rode up Mt. Hamilton, we bought a regular camera tripod with us.These Canon binoculars come with a built-in screw thread that can accept a standard tripod quick-release plate. With the binoculars mounted on the tripod, we spent a good half hour looking down the beautiful landscape. The obvious question is, does the use of the tripod defeat the purpose of paying extra for the image stabilizer? How much something is worth is a very personal question. It differs from person to person.I am not going to attempt to answer this question.

We are very happy to own these binoculars. This is a very pricey toy, but we love it.I first saw the Canon 15x image stabilizer binoculars at Wolf's Camera web site and they have a price tag of around $1,200.I was shocked by the price.I told myself some day I might buy it.A year later, amazon.com was carrying this 18x version at a much lower price.I was overjoyed and broke down and bought this toy the following month.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Binoculars!
I really like these binoculars. Please read the other reviews to gain knowledge on the product's high points. Also note, I have not found any of the low points mentioned to be present or affect my viewing in any way. ... Read more

Leica M7 Rangefinder 35mm Camera w/ .58x Viewfinder, Black (Model 10501)

Electronics
list price: $2,369.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Leica's M7 35mm compact rangefinder camera has been historically renowned for its build quality and outstanding performance, as field-tested by the most demanding photojournalists and avant-garde artists. The lens is built with the Leica M design and has a focal length of 21 to 135mm. All manual operations continue to be present, but this newest update now sports electronic control and operation with an on/off switch that starts it all.

You can now make automatic exposures with the stepless electronic shutter speed control with metered value storage. The cloth focal plane shutter has turned electronic, controlling exposure time silently and accurately. An unusual but undoubtedly useful feature is the viewfinder with LED display, a total of 33 different readings are visible to keep you on top of all the information.

With an additional flash unit installed, the second shutter curtain can trigger the flash. The two film-speed settings, manual and automatic, eliminate bad exposures that come from setting the wrong film speeds. Film loading, advance, and rewind remain manual for greater control. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars classic
The Leica M7 is a superior intstrument in the realm of 35mm film cameras. The name alone stands for over 70 years of excellence.

Its through the lens metering system helps the photographer get the right exposure, without the use of a light meter. This is particularly essential when shooting street photography. With a muted shutter and compact metel frame you can allow yourself to act as a vouyer as you silently snap away.

Unlike most SLR's (single-lens-reflex) which offer a wide variety of lens, the range of lens avaliable for this model are limited to the classic 35mm, as well as a few wider angles.

But I warn you, this particular camera is not for the weak wallets. A starting price of about 2,400 dollars leaves room only for those commited to owning optimum equitment. However you'll be safe in the knowledge that you'll probably have more money around your neck than most rappers.

Any serious photojournalist who is seeking a professional carrier should invest in this purchace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leica M7 rangefinder camera optimized for wide angle lenses
This version of the Leica M7 has the same features as the standard M7 with 0.72x viewfinder, most notably aperture priority automation and TTL (Through The Lens) flash, but lacks the frame line for a 135mm lens. It is designed for those interested in using primarily wide angle lenses and for those who wear eye glasses. Unfortunately, the Leica M7, unlike the Leica MP, is virtually dead except for two shutter speeds when your batteries die out. And yet despite this inconvenience, the Leica M7 is the quietest, best handling Leica M rangefinder camera I've come across. Regrettably, the 0.58x viewfinder model is no longer in production, except via the expensive Leica A La Carte program, so if this version of the M7 appeals to you, buy it soon!

Is the Leica M7 a 35mm camera for everyone? Of course the answer is no, since a rangefinder camera, unlike a single lens reflex (SLR) camera, has a very limited range of lenses. It is superb with wide angle and normal lenses since it is often easier to focus with a rangefinder than a SLR, and can be as fast, if not faster, than the latest autofocus SLRs. The Leica truly excels as the ideal tool for discrete documentary photography, producing what the late Henri Cartier-Bresson referred to as the "decisive moment" photograph. So if you care deeply about making great documentary photography images, then perhaps the Leica M7 should be your premier 35mm camera.

Editorial Review

Gleaming with Old-World elegance, All-Clad's Cop-R-Chef copper-clad cookware dresses up a kitchen while providing serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the bright copper exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The interior is highly polished, so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. With care, the copper exterior will remain beautiful during this cookware's lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond.

This classic straight-sided 6-quart sauté pan shows how thoroughly Cop-R-Chef marries form and function. It's an imposing 13-1/2 inches in diameter (and 2-3/4 inches deep), large enough for a professional kitchen but fully functional in a home where big meals are prepared. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. Like the pan's loop handle, the long handle (holed for hanging on a hook or peg) stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Because harsh detergents darken copper, hand washing this cookware is recommended. --Fred Brack ... Read more

Canon EOS-1Ds 11.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Electronics
list price: $8,999.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Canon EOS-1Ds is the world's highest-resolution professional digital camera, featuring the first-ever full-frame 35mm sensor with 11.1 million effective pixels. The EOS-1Ds captures astounding detail and color, almost doubling the resolution considered state of the art for a digital SLR camera in the world today (September 2002).

With its extremely high resolution, the EOS-1Ds is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of professional photographers--including studio, commercial, reportage, or fashion photography--who need the ultimate in digital image quality.

Optics
The camera's imaging engine is one of the keys to its exceptional quality. The advanced chip assembles and processes image data captured by the sensor to achieve color accuracy and wide tonal range equivalent to digitally scanned images from conventional film-based cameras.

The EOS-1Ds can capture images at approximately 3 frames per second for a 10-frame burst, even at the highest-quality setting. It also has almost three times as many pixels as the super-fast EOS-1D.

Each of the camera's 45 focusing points is linked directly to Canon's exclusive 21-zone metering system. In addition, the metering system also allows photographers to choose from center weighted, central partial, central spot, focusing-point linked spot, or multispot metering.

The EOS-1Ds features a color matrix function: Five settings provide a choice of two color spaces (standard sRGB or expanded Adobe RGB 1998) and four variations in color characteristics for sRGB. This feature applies to JPEG as well as RAW images, and allows EOS-1Ds image quality to be matched to the requirements of the subject or output device, ranging from four-color offset presses to desktop color Bubble Jet printers.

More Features

  • Ability to dial in color temperatures to meet specific lighting conditions
  • 10 white balance (WB) modes and WB bracketing provide maximum flexibility and superb color accuracy
  • ISO speed bracketing allows you to fix aperture and shutter speeds, yet shoot at three different equivalent film speeds
  • Fully compatible with all Canon EF lenses, from ultrawide-angle to super-telephoto

Image Sizes

  • RAW: 11.4 MB (4,064 x 2,704 pixels)
  • Large/fine: 4.1 MB (4,064 x 2,704 pixels)
  • Large/normal: 1.7 MB (4,064 x 2,704 pixels)
  • Small/fine: 1.4 MB (,032 x 1,352 pixels)

Storage and Transfer
The EOS-1Ds comes equipped with an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface, allowing speedy plug-and-play data communication with computers. For studio photography, new 4.5-meter FireWire cables are available. The camera automatically formats the CF card for either FAT16 or FAT32, according to the maximum storage capacity (FAT 32 is selected for capacity higher than 2 GB).

Images are stored on CompactFlash Type I or II cards (Microdrive compatible). You can create up to 500 subfolders on each CF card with each folder storing up to 9,999 images

Power, Size, and Contents
The camera is powered by a rechargeable NiHM battery pack (included). It measures 6.1 by 6.2 by 3.1 inches and weighs 44.6 ounces. This package includes the EOS-1Ds digital camera body (no lens included), NiMH battery pack (NP-E3), NiMH battery charger (NC-E2), DC coupler kit (DCK-E1), AC adapter (PA-V16), FireWire interface cable (IFC-200D6), neck strap, hand strap, eyecup (EC-II), EOS Digital Solutions CD-ROM, Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE CD-ROM. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 11 Mega Pixels is not a random number!
I've recently learned some interesting detail that came from a talented amateur photographer.A friend of mine from work, had done a number of spectacular scenic shots. He thought to enter some of the better ones into a professional competition. While he had a good Cannon digital, (I believe it was a 7 or 8 mp) requirements for digital are 11 mp minimums. While expanding the lower resolution is allowed, it would still fall a bit short (since it only allows a certain percentage). It seems that professional film use cameras, typically deliver the equivalent of 20 mp. The proper film is expensive, and getting it developed is not as easy as taking it to the local Photomat.

I know computers and software. My programming exploits placed me for a time at Polaroid ID systems. Polaroid ID, (prior to its sale by the parent company in 2001) produced drivers licenses, and ID card solutions, for more than half the United States, plus several countries. I have a background in video games programming by training. What I can tell you from this is that you need a fast processor to create, and store an image 11 mp in size.Cannon's custom processor seems to be up to the task.My friend told me his current camera used the same processor, and produced the highest resolution shots in about 1/5th of a second. This model does about three continuous shots per second. While not quite film or motion capture speed, it's still good enough not to inhibit your creativity.

If photography is a serious hobby, or you are a budding professional, this might just be your camera.Existing professionals will probably make up their own minds on when to jump to digital, and what equipment best meets their needs.Cannons entry here seems reasonable for a quality digital camera. You may see many other cameras pump up their numbers in a race to get the higher resolutions. They seem to be bristling with bells and whistles. There's a not so subtle difference with a professional model like this. That being it has features for professional imaging and the speed of getting to that next high quality shot.

The other cameras will raise the bar one day, but for now they are best used by non-professionals.If you compare the camera's specifications, you'll find speed, and feature limitations on those cheaper models. This is not the camera to take on that vacation to the mountains.A good four-mega pixel model will keep all your family photo albums up to date.If however, your vision for looking at the world through the camera's eye extends beyond that, this may be the camera for you.BTW, remember this is a body only, you buy your optics separately, and it's not advisable to go cheap either.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't want to limit your creativity ... this is it.
After years of being a very faithful Sony user (I still like Sony and their products) I finally did the big leap, as in my mind the technology is finally there ... I bought a Canon EOS-1Ds 11.1 Megapixel camera body. Out of necessity I had to buy a set of EF lenses as well. I spent this years toy budget on just one purchase, but then THIS IS NOT TOY!

My last Sony was a F828 and before that a P10. The F828 is a great consumer product for the price, but it actually made me do the leap as good as it is, as it brought back my spirit for creating a REALLY good picture. I started to spend so much time to get to the right photo spot at the right time, that I did not want to have a lack of functionality then. I used to do a lot of photography 20 years ago on film, but returned as a point and shoot fotographer when digital came about. To say it with fellow countryman 'Arnie' - "I'm back."

First I need to say that all Amazon partnershops performed and delivered flawlessly, my special mention goes to Adorama Camera. I would usually be worried to spend so much money on the web, but Amazon takes that away.

Now to the 'beast' itself the EOS-1Ds body. I will not go into all the functional details, as to my mind they are all correct as stated. The camera is great to hold and work with total confidence. But at first - big disappointment. I was unable to concentrate on working with a professional camera. I was too used to point and shoot and expected the camera to do it all for me. Well, it does not. You need to know or learn photography for this one. It is now four weeks and 2500 pictures later and finally there is only one reason for a photo not to be perfect - ME!

Biggest difference to other products is the film-size 24x36 CCD and the ability to set the ASA film sensitivity up to 1250 on the fly rather than having to change film. Not always is a tripod at hand or the photo subject would wait until you set it up and then hold still for a 2 second exposure. I could not ask the helicopter pilot to stop the vibration during a dawn flight over the Las Vegas Strip. Setting to ASA1250 shortened exposure time to s/50. The picture noise that you get as a consequence is dramatically reduced by the noise reduction feature and much less than the grain of a high-sensitivity film.

Cautions and recommendations: Learning how to clean the sensor from dust and dirt without damaging it is essential. This camera is VERY heavy you will need a strong tripod to hold it. Buy a second battery, even so the charging is quick and it usually lasts for two normal days of use. Using a CF card reader is easier than buying a Firwire attachment for your PC. I have shot 35mm for 30 years and paid for the best prints from the best labs and they just can't compare with high end digital prints. The detail goes way beyond 35mm and easily challenges medium format.I am still learning color manipulation on the computer and occasionally I get better color from a Velvia slide - which I am now shooting with the same Canon lenses and a 1v body - but overall it is becoming increasingly clear that film is as dead as video tape and vinyl records.I traded up to the 1Ds from a D60, which also produced prints much better than 35mm.The drawback to the D60 was a poor autofocus and a less than full frame sensor, which limits the use of wide angle lenses for landscape photos. The 1Ds solves those problems and potentially makes larger format cameras obsolete at the same time.

The only problem I have found is that the 45 sensor autofocus setting does not work with a very wide angle (16mm or 15mm fisheye) lens. For some reason, it won't focus at infinity.Switching to the center only focus sensor solves the problem. The 1v and Elan 7 do the same thing. ... Read more

Samsung Tantus HPN6339 63" HDTV-Ready Flat-Panel Plasma TV
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Electronics
list price: $19,999.99

Editorial Review

One of the largest plasma screens ever built, Samsung's 63-inch HPN6339 flat-panel television is broad enough--and slender enough in profile--to turn just about any room into a luscious home theater. The set's native resolution is 1,366 x 768, and its direct-digital DVI input works with compatible high-definition DTV set-top boxes and PCs. There's also a standard RGB computer input. A built-in analog tuner, a pedestal stand, and a generous array of audio/video connections make setup a snap. Further, the set's widescreen (16:9) display is specially configured to accommodate the native aspect ratios of your favorite movies, either from DVD or from HDTV broadcasts when the set is hooked up to a DTV receiver (not included).

With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the HPN6339 is an astoundingly narrow 3.5 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting using optional accessories. Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.

Additional inputs include one HD component-video input (480p/720p/1080i) and one SD component-video input (480i) as well as one each S-video, composite-video, and RF. Samsung's proprietary video-enhancement technology, Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe), performs 3D noise reduction and detail and contrast enhancement for all interlaced (non-HD) sources.

The set also houses a 10-watts-per-channel audio amplifier for use with optional speakers, such as those in your existing stereo or home theater, or Samsung's matching PSM6330 speakers. Other optional accessories include a wall-mount kit (WMN6330) and a pedestal stand (pictured, SMM6330).

The set's NTSC two-tuner picture-in-picture (side-by-side, split-screen) grants convenient, simultaneous viewing of two TV programs, and a fanless cooling system ensures quiet operation.

More about DNIe
Digital Natural Image engine(DNIe) that could take a signal from any kind of source-not just conventional or high-definition digital broadcasting, but even DVD, Camcorder, PC and games-and turn it into a stunning picture on any kind of screen. The input signal passes through a series of four advanced processes that form the core of the DNIe technology.

The first of these processes, the Motion Optimizer, is responsible for noise reduction. the visual data are automatically broken down into signal and noise and analyzed through a combined spatial/temporal process. DNIe‘s noise reduction technology permits a startling level of sharpness even in minute details and rapidly changing scenes. Unlike conventional noise reduction methods, the Motion Optimizer combines a motion adaptive temporal filter, which detects and reduces noise in the temporal space between successive frames, with spatial noise reduction applied to the two-dimensional image space.

After passing through the Motion Optimizer, the visual signal is sent to the Contrast Enhancer. This process automatically adjusts contrast and brightness to natural levels, producing an extraordinarily rich and vivid picture. In scenes of motion or rapid change,a separate contrast value should ideally be set for each visual signal, but this presents great technological difficulties. DNIe’s Contrast Enhancer process has overcome these difficulties by applying over 1 million criteria for contrast and automatically determining the optimum contrast level for any kind of visual data. The Contrast Enhancer can also analyze up to 70,000 local images within a frame to preserve contrast in the smallest details without affecting overall color or brightness.

The next step in the signal's journey from input to high-quality output is the Detail Enhancer. DNIe's Detail Enhancer uses its own specially developed technology to dramatically improve sharpness just where it matters. The slightly unnatural appearance that results from conventional uniform detail enhancement is re-detected and re-adjusted to produce a strikingly sharp and convincing image. Conventional detail enhancement is based on the artificial amplification of the input signal, but this inevitably produces small areas of noise boost-up and flicker.

The final process undergone by the input signal is the Color Optimizer. For each scene, the Color Optimizer analyzes the hues of the input signal to determine and preserve the overall level of brightness. The colors are adjusted and improved, without unnatural intensification, to give vivid tones corresponding to the living shades of nature. By calculating the color saturation of red, green, and blue in each scene, the colors are optimized to the shades that the human eye accepts as natural.

3-0 out of 5 stars Scam artists
I have been emailing every one of the "low-cost" plasma TV sellers in an effort to determine if any are legitimate. My suspicion is that all of them are not. My search continues. Please do not send someone money via Western Union unless you can confirm and/or guarantee delivery of the unit that was specified. Email replies I have received when attempting to place an order included bogus Amazon replies so BEWARE!

1-0 out of 5 stars Scam Artists on Prowl
Yet another example of scam artists in action. A (...) plasma TV for (...) I doubt it. I have tried ordering these 10 cents on the dollar "values" and all 15 of them have been bogus. Amazon has been really good at kicking these scammers off, but only after they've listed. Wish they'd require a better kind of upfront verification of goods, but oh well, it's always been buyer beware! ... Read more
