Delta 36-831 3 Horsepower Unisaw with 30" Biesemeyer Fence

    Editorial Review

Among serious woodworkers who demand top quality tools in their shop, there's no debating the desirability of a Delta Unisaw. It's one of the few cabinet-styletable saws still made in the USA, and the benefits show up in the quality of the tool'sworkmanship and finish. The Unisaw's smooth operation can be traced to the widelyspaced, massive trunions which are machined from fine-grained cast iron and arecompletely adjustable to ensure the best possible alignment. The heavy cast-iron tableadds to the saw's stability and features a 3/8-by-3/4-inch T-slot on each side of the blade.Include the two extension wings and you have a generous cast-iron table surface of 36 by27 inches.

The single-phase, 3-horsepower induction motor is housed in a dust-sealed, fan-cooledenclosure, and power is transferred smoothly and efficiently via a positive-tractionthree-belt V-drive system. The motor cover has handy storage slots for your miter gaugeand table inserts, but more importantly, the inside is designed to maximize the airflow fordust collection and, in conjunction with the redesigned cabinet interior, funnel all the dustefficiently to the 4-inch dust port without a hitch.

This model comes with a 30-inch commercial Biesemeyer fence system, which requires acomplimentary table board (sold seperately.) While the basics of this popular fencedesign have been copied by competing saw and fence manufacturers, there's still nothingquite like the original. The Biesemeyer is made of the heaviest gauge steel we've seen ona T-square type fence, and the fence face itself is made of laminated 9-ply Finland birch, glued solidly in place--a construction method that eliminates warpage in the fence linethat the bolts or screws used in competing systems can cause. The fence locks to the frontguide rail using Biesemeyer's three-point locking system and automatically aligns thefence parallel to the blade when the lever is tightened down, providing reliable accuracyevery time. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hands down, the best saw period
This saw is the same base unit as the other 3hp, right tilt. The only difference is the fence system.

Everyone knows that the Unisaw is the Holy Grail of all saws, and it lives up to this reputation.Out of the box it was flawless. It required almost no further adjustment. Even with the crappy blade that comes with the saw, the cuts are near perfect. The cuts become perfect after you throw that blade away and replace it with a better one. I recommend the Forrest Woodworker II.

The 30" fence that came with this saw was in service about 10 minutes before I decided to replace it with the 52".The saw was a gift (great gift, huh) and had I ordered it myself, I would have ordered it with the bigger fence.I got on the Biesemeyer web site and bought the replacement front and rear rails to convert it to the larger fence. You only need to replace these components, as the fence is compatable with both.I bought the new components and "factory seconds", but they were in perfect condition.

I looked at the "other" saws and came within inches of buying one based on price. I even drove five hours to a competitive product's showroom to see their saw hands on. I'm glad that I didn't buy it because it doesn't compare to this unit. The Unisaw is easy to use, easy to set up and adjust, and makes woodworking a religious experience.

Would I recommend this saw? Yes! Yes! Yes!The only drawback to this saw is that most people wait too long to buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw at a good price
I've wanted a Unisaw since first using one years ago in high school shop class. It was a good saw then; it's even a better one now.

The saw arrived on the date ... said it would. The delivery driver not only unloaded it from the truck, but wheeled it around to my shop behind the house and into the shop. Only gripe about Delta's packaging is that extension table wiggled loose from box and suffered minor damage. Delta should rework packaging so damage in shipment is minimized.

Assembly of saw was straightforward, following Delta's directions in the owner's manual. The fence did not arrive with the saw as ... informed me it had been damanged, and would send a new one as soon as possible. So for about a week I could only use the miter gauge and dream about ripping boards.

All told, once completely assembled, this saw lives up to my years of dreaming and anticipation of ownership. I look for several things in a table saw; accuracy of saw and fence, quiet operation, fit and finish, easy and safe to use. The Unisaw never lags in any of these requirements. The saw and fence were dead-on accurate out of the box. The start/stop button mounted to the left of the saw's center is the ideal location for the saywer. The stop button protrudes from the switch face, allowing me to turn the saw off with my knee if necessary. Handy thing when the cut sometimes goes a little awry. The start button face is recessed, so accidental starting is minimized. The blade guard isn't the greatest, but what OEM guard is? Still, it is better than the one on my last saw, and I plan to keep it in place for all through cuts until I can go aftermarket for a better guard.

The saw has plenty of power. Dadoing operations that would practically stall my old table saw barely lowers the RPM of this saw. Ripping thick stock should be no problem. The fit and finish of this saw are adequate, though the plastic motor cover kept wanting to slide down till I figured out how to secure it properly. I'd prefer it to be hinged rather than the way it attaches.
The saw starts and runs quietly. My last saw was terribly loud; even with hearing protection on it was a major distraction and made using the saw unpleasant. With the Unisaw, I can pick up a board and buzz it through without hunting around the shop for my ear muffs. It's that quiet.

...P>You can't go wrong with this saw. This particular configuration must be "optioned" up a bit at this price; i.e. you'll want the 30" extension table and a mobile base if your saw isn't destined to live in one designated spot in your shop. I got both for my small shop; makes the saw the perfect addition for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best saw I've ever used. This is comercial duty.
I've used Grizzly, Jet and older Delta table saws and this is hands down the best I've used yet. This is one of the strongest 3hp units available on the market. At 220v this saw puts out 12 1/2 amps. This added power lets you use wide kerf blades which allows for smooth cuts and no bogging down. This saw is smooth and quite and is very compact too. The reason for getting this saw is because I have limited space available and with a moble base, you'll hardley notice that this is even in your basement. The miter slots are precise with no binding or sloppiness. If you're looking for a new saw shop around and ask questions but I guarantee you'll be back for this. Please do yourself a favor, and save yourself money in the long run buy this one now. I've gone through two different table saws and wish I had purchased this one first. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

For those seeking a midsize jointer for the long haul, this 6-inch model is a great find suitable for the professional workplace or serious home woodshop. Powered by Delta's trusted 1-horsepower induction motor, the three-blade drum spins quietly in its cast-iron bed. Adjusting with rack-and-pinion precision, the fence tilts 45 degrees in and out with positive stops at 90 and 45 degrees for beveling and chamfering applications. Delta realizes the use of heavy machinery carries a great risk of injury; consequently, they designed this jointer with a large, easily accessible on/off paddle switch at shoulder height on the right side--a feature for which we have much respect. Thanks to industrial-grade infeed and outfeed tables, even longer 6-inch-wide planks get the support they need as you remove up to 1/2 of an inch of material to the collection port on each pass. So you want to increase your edge on the competition? Delta feels the same way. --Justin Paul ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Fence Biggest Drawback
If it were not for the cheap, cast aluminum fence I would recommend this. I think if you search enough you'll see that this is the single biggest complaint about this.

Suggestion: hold off until you can afford the next Delta model up (I believe that is the 360). It may be 2X the price, but well worth it. Also, the Ridgid is an outstanding buy at $399.00.

5-0 out of 5 stars works for me.
i,ve been using this jointer for about two months now and it is a real joy to use. i,ve heard the other reviews that were not to good, but mine is just great.

4-0 out of 5 stars What's with the pulleys not aligning?
After doing my homework (reading many reviews of 6" jointers in woodworking publications as well this forum), I settled on the Delta. The Jet had caught my eye (I have 3 other Jet machines, and have been impressed with their Quality Control), but in the end I opted for the Delta.

There is no question this is a great 6" jointer, as other reviewers have said. However, there is a design flaw (are you listening, Delta?) mentioned by other reviewers.

Why should I have to reverse the pulleys to get the belt properly aligned?ESPECIALLY SINCE SETUP INSTRUCTIONS EMPHASIZE THE NEED FOR PROPER ALIGNMENT! There, I feel better.

I also have another minor complaint with setup. The third bolt that attaches to the base through the dust chute could be a challenge for big armed, big handed guys.I managed, with very little wiggle room.

Overall, results with this jointer are impressive. Out of the box, the Delta performed flawlessly. No question, I'd give this product 5 stars, if not for the above-mentioned gripes.

I highly recommend purchasing a Delta 22-580K 13" planer to complement the jointer.I did, with no regrets. Now that's a fine product, worthy of 5 stars.

At the end of the day, the jointer and planer make a fine team.
Get past the setup, and this jointer will perform very well for you.No question. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Arguably the best portable model on the market. To best minimize snipe, Makita came up with an innovative four-column design and fortified it with diagonal cross supports to stabilize the cutterhead while the patented Interna-Lok cutterhead depth adjustment secures the head while cutting. We particularly like how easy it is to adjust the depth scale and gauge. The depth stop makes sure you never overplane multiple pieces. The infeed and outfeed tables are supersized - another little perk we liked. Often, changing planer knives is an ordeal, but Makita's quick-change system and externally accessible brushes minimize your maintenance time and get you back to what you really love doing. The unit is relatively lightweight as these machines go, and at 83 decibels, is among the quietest of its kind. Still, please use ear protection when you're using this little beauty. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You won't be disapointed
I've used the 12" delta - way to noisy. Bought the Makita right after christmas - 4 months now - I love this tool. You can plane down to about 1/10" - walnut, oak, maple have all done great.

A good shop vac keeps up with the chips (do get the vaccuum attachment). Snipe seems to have gotten better as I use it more. Oh and did I mention quiet?

This is a really nice tool.

I've been a woodworker for 20 years, have a range of tools from a old craftsman table saw to a new Delta 14" bandsaw... the fit and finish on the planer is second to none...

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Planer , Minimal Snipe
I have had this planer for about two years now.I have used many different planers including a 20" Jet floor model. If I was to buy a portable planer today I would consider the New DeWalt 13" planer.I looked it over and I liked the adjustment wheel and the fact that it has three knives instead of two. I haven't used it though.
The makita is relatively quiet but you still should use ear protection. The dust collection needs a pro system because my Fein Turbo II vac was too underpowered to collect the dust without clogging. The knives were easy to change. That was a relief because it can be a pain on some of the other planers. They are reversible so you can change edges once but then you have to buy new ones because they are not sharpenable.
The table needs frequent cleaning especially if you use pine or other sappy wood.I used isopropyl alcohol to clean the rollers and citris cleaner to clean the knives. Without frequent cleaning the feed rollers will not work. That is a problem on all planers and not a fault of the Makita.
The finish is nice and smooth and only needs a little RO disc sanding starting with 150 grit to clean up the tool marks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will expand your shop capabilities
First of all, let me just say a word or two about any portable planer. I only use tropical hardwoods, and I've cut through the hardest with this planer. With a sharpened blade, these 15 amp babies can eat through chainsaw-cut planks quite efficiently. The key is keeping the blade sharp, and for that I would recommend the sharpener from Woodworker's Supply because you need not even take the blade off with their angled stone. Don't even think of buying a planer without a sharpening tool, because if you do not have one you will be cutting slow and wearing down what is left of your blade. Benchtop planers cut smooth, and expand your shop capabilities. For me, this is a "must" tool.

Now about the Makita. This is my third planer, my previous two being a Ryobi and a Delta. This one is by far my favorite--quiet and solid, with less snipe. A real key to long life in a planer is keeping the shavings out of the mechanics. This is what caused my previous two planers to break down. The Makita has gone on for 3 years now without a hint of a problem. It has a handy thickness adjustment so you can return to cut multiple planks at the same thickness. The solid build of this planer set it apart. ... Read more

A great fit in any serious home workshop, Delta's bench drill press combines safety and versatility with industrial-grade durability for long life. Featuring five speeds from 620 to 3,100 rpm, the 1/3-horsepower induction motor runs coolly and quietly off standard 115-volt outlets. With a 2-3/8-inch stroke length, a tilting cast-iron work plate, and an adjustable depth stop for repetitive drilling, this tool lends itself to a variety of applications. Its 34-inch total height makes this press welcome on tables and benchtops even where ceilings hang low. We were impressed Delta had the foresight to build a removable on/off switch to prevent injury to curious little hands. Though set on a sturdy cast-iron base, the entire press weighs only 78 pounds, so you can comfortably pick it up and move it out of the way if you ever have to rearrange your tool collection. --Justin Paul ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Delta 11-990 12" Bench Drill Press
I purchased the Delta 11-990 drill press for small commercial shop use about two months ago because of very limited space and previous experience with a similar model. The newer model DP300 was temporarily out of stock and the distributor was offering a discount on the 11-990 because technically this model is two years old, even though both have exactly the same specifications. They are the low priced "Shopmaster" grade, manufactured in China, supposedly at Delta owned facilities. The drill press came with a tool tray and magnetic mount worklight. The tool tray was unnecessary for me, so it went in the recycle bin to be reincarnated. The worklight is much more useful when stuck to a 4-11/16" square junction box cover and hung from a hook on the pegboard at the edge of the workbench than on the drill press itself. I have this drill press mounted to a mobile base I made from a Makita 2703XL table saw stand, 3/4" plywood and 2" locking swivel casters. This works great because it gives the proper height and stability for safe operation and it doesn't take up valuable bench space.
The 11-990 was easy to assemble and even came with the bolts to mount it to a stand. The thick oily coating on the parts wiped off cleanly with a rag dipped in regular paint thinner.
I cleaned the spindle and chuck taper bore with acetone before mounting the fully opened chuck with a wood block and mallet and have had no problem with the chuck falling off while in use. The chuck is not a Jacobs or other name brand but the geared collar turns easily by hand without binding for initial bit insertion before tightening with the key. Runout is minimal and I have had no problem with bits slipping in the chuck jaws after tightening.
The drill press runs smoothly and quietly with no vibration or spindle chatter. The motor is a 1/3HP, 1720 RPM, capacitor start.
Delta says the maximum hole size in steel with an HSS bit is 3/8" but I have used it on several occasions to drill 1/2" holes in 3/8" thick mild steel plate in low speed [620 RPM] without stalling or any sign of motor overheating. It has also been used with a 1-1/2" spade bit to bore holes in 2X and a 3-1/2" hole saw in 1X and 3/4" plywood. Changing the five belt positions is simple and only requires loosening one thumbscrew. The speed range is 620-3100 RPM.
The table swivels 360-degrees and tilts somewhat easily by removing the locking pin and loosening a 3/4" hex bolt. Rockler sells a ratcheting handle for about five dollars that supposedly fits this table and replaces the bolt, eliminating the need for a 3/4" socket wrench. I think I will probably try it.
The 4" Delta 20-622 vise is also a nice accessory if you drill metal frequently. I have it permanently mounted to the table with 1/2" bolts at a slight angle to the chuck.
Overall, I feel the 11-990 is a good value. For less than two hundred dollars, it seems surprisingly well made and should be able to meet the demands of most small shop or home use.

4-0 out of 5 stars You better check your manual
I am impressed with this drill press.I think it operates very well.It is quite and smooth during operation.I agree with one review that the light is a good idea, but it slides and won't stay in place. The others that commented and said that everything is loose, "You better check your manual" you must have done something wrong.

2-0 out of 5 stars really disappointed, but only ($$$)
based on the reviews, there seems to be two completely different schools of thought on this product. My vote goes with "junk".Everything is very loose, the chuck is not true, so it turns in an eliptical motion (instead of a circle) and while I haven't had problems with the chuck falling off, the method of installation called for in the instructions "pound it in with a rubber mallet" --seriously!--makes me certain it is only a matter of time. Also, you have to tighten the chuck with the key extremely hard and the bits still slip nearly every time. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Get a Bench Top Mortiser if you can afford one
I've been using this attachment for a couple of years now. I recommend it only if you cannot afford a bench top mortiser.

First, attaching the fence to my 16 1/2" Delta drill press is not easy at all. In fact, it's a real pain in the keester. You would think this would be easy because it is a Delta drill press but it isn't.

Second, the workpiece holddowns are cheap and difficult to work with. No matter what you do, the workpiece moves when you don't want it to move, or it stays put when you want it to move. It's not a good design.

Third, the chisels do not drill perfectly square holes. The auger bits are just a hair bigger than the chisels. So, you end up with a circle with square corners. This effect is more pronounced the bigger the chisel/bit.

I finally ditched the table accessories and built my own table jig (which works surprisingly well and looks cool too). This solved the first two issues. If it is really important to have perfectly square mortises, I cut them by hand. This solves the final issue. (Note: the mortises are OK for most joinery because you have a shoulder on the tenon to hide the slightly out of square mortise.)

3-0 out of 5 stars fit???
i am still in iraq, i ordered this to go on my drill press, the dp-200 i know delta doesnt say that it fits, below some one said it did all in all ill just see if it doesnt someone let me know and i can send it to them for 10.00 less then amozon. i only gave it 3 stars for now but will update later

3-0 out of 5 stars Good tool, but not worth buying
I bought this tool with my drill press a couple years ago and have hardly used it.There is nothing wrong with it, but I find that there are several things that stop me from using it more often. The first is the setup. It takes too long and is too awkward.Personally I'd rather pop in a forstener bit into my drill press and make several passes to achieve a very good mortise - although this doesn't work if you are doing a through mortise.

    PROS:
    * Does the job it states
    * Much cheaper than a dedicated mortiser

    CONS:
    * Much too time consuming to set up
    * Has a very hard time cutting through hardwoods
    * Chisels seem to dull quickly ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Tight mortise-and-tenon joinery is an irreplaceable ingredient of many woodworking projects, but cutting tenons accurately can be next to impossible without the aid of a good jig, like this one from Delta. This jig is made with the same quality of castings and precision machining found on Delta's top-of-the-line table saws, giving it the stability and accuracy we desire. We also appreciate its versatility and wide range of adjustment. While the jig is a perfect match for Delta's benchtop and contractor saws, the miter-slot bar can adjust to fit a number of other manufacturers' table saws as well. It can be used with both right- and left-tilt saws, although switching between the two setups does take some time and attention to detail. The jig can be adjusted from 90 to 45 degrees and has adjustable positive stops; of course, we recommend checking your adjustments with a good square and bevel gauge to make sure the stops are set correctly.

Getting your tenoning jig set up just right can require some patience, but once done, you'll get a big payoff in accurate tenons, and your projects will have the tightest possible joints. In our experience, few shop accessories will prove as invaluable to your woodworking as this solid tenoning jig from Delta. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool, worth every penny
after buying the delta mortiser i needed something that would help make identical tenons and be as reliable as the mortiser is. The Delta tenon jig was it. This is a great tool that makes tennoning a breeze. Yeah it may come covered in oil, but so does any other large steel tool you buy. I would rather have it come covered in oil than covered in rust.

The only problem i had with this tool was that it would not fit in the craftsman table saw that i had. It would be nice if they shipped a smaller bar to help accomidate for this problem. the solution for me was to go out to sears and buy a new mighter gauge ($35) and used the bar from that on the delta tenon jig. after that it was ready to go.

overall: Excellent tool that makes tennoning simple

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent vlaue and quality
After reading some of the reviews here I was a little apprehensive about ordering this jig but did so anyway, and I am glad that I did! THis is an excellent quality tool, well designed, stable, and safe, my only issue is that delta went a little overboard with the protective coating of grease, anyway that took about five minutes to clean after I disassembled the jig to move the miter slot rail for my left tilt saw.

Those who complain about the setup either can't read directions or didn't read them before starting. This thing is not rocket science and if you are able to accuratly produce the mortises that will fit the tenons you make with this jig you should be able to set this up after a quick review of the detailed diagrams and instuctions.

The Jig came with a ton of grease that had to be cleaned off.But to do this, I had to take the whole thing apart which was a hassle. Also had to file down to the sharp edges and sand the bottom of the jig as it would scratch my table saw surface. The stock support fence was bent and had to be hammered back into flat. After all that the jig is working fine. ... Remember that annoying workplace slogan, "Your parents don't work here--clean up after yourself"? Well, with the Delta 1,200 cfm dust collector, you've got a powerful, well-built machine to keep the shop clean. Built with a 1-1/2-horsepower induction motor for long life and curved steel impellers for durability, this dust collector whisks away debris from tools' dust ports with surprising force, so the only thing collecting particles around the shop might be your old broom resting in the closet. Set on a sturdy caster base for easy mobility, the dust collector stands 88 inches tall and has two intake ports for collecting simultaneously from multiple machines. The large 6-cubic-foot bags will reduce your trips to the trash and filter the air of particles down to 30 microns. For cleaner air, you can always upgrade to 5- or 1-micron bags. This is a great tool for any midsize woodworking shop. --Justin Paul ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just can't see 5 Stars for this thing...
I see most reviewers are very happy with their DC and rate it high... Having owned and used other collectors I find this unit acceptable. Powerful as it may be it does run LOUD.. Don't care what others think... the unit is LOUD..Yes you can talk over it but running a saw the same time is more noise then I expected.... Delta fit and finish is so...so...ie., spot welds rather then full weld.. crappy upper bag hanger, crappy lower bag stand supports... besides that, Delta provides a "grab-bag" of nuts and bolts... You end up short with the nuts and end up extra on the washers and bolts?!My unit is attached to 4" PVC manifold and really works good... but just a little better then my JET 650 CFM did... My wife likes it alot and if she's happy, I'm happy... All and all for the price of the unit I don't think you can do better and Delta is a good company that stands behind their oversea's made products..If it were prefect in EVERY respect then I would give it 5 full stars but it isn't...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the price
Finally received my Dust Collector, and it was worth all the wait.Really happy that the unit now comes standard with the 1 micron bags.I do plan on upgrading to the 1 micron bagswhen the 5 wears out. Some have mentioned that the dual 1 micron bags allow the machine to breath a little better too. This DC has plenty of power. So far I've used it with my tablesaw, bandsaw and router station with much sucess. This machine is a solid buy, Enjoy your cleaner shop!

3-0 out of 5 stars It was wonderful while it worked
This is a powerful vacuum. I bought mine 2 years ago. Unfortunately, about a month ago, the vacuum sucked in some small oak blocks from the table saw. The oak blocks, about 3/4" square by 3 inches long, slammed against the fins inside, dented the cover and slightly bent the fin wheel. I heard a loud clang and that was all, the unit kept working.

Soon after, I discovered that crash caused the fin blade to go out of balance. Now it is burning through start capacitors within hours. It is so bad that I am giving up on it and buying another vacuum.

I would get another 50-850, because it is a good product for the money. But of course, I'm not happy with the motor and the vulnerable, delicate design. Long-term durability is clearly this product's weakness. And, I'm dissatified with the flimsy structure, which makes the unit hard to move around.

I like my Delta tools but I don't love them. ... Read more

Delta 36-225 10" Compound Miter Saw

    Editorial Review

This 10-inch compound miter saw from Delta is a sturdy, well-balanced, smooth-cutting saw perfect for use on the job site or in a small shop. Its safety-conscious design includes an electric brake, a see-through retracting blade guard, and a dust and chip collection system. The blade tilts 45 degrees to the left, and the table pivots a full 45 degrees in both directions. This saw has a maximum bite of 1-3/4 by 4 inches when set to a full 45-by-45-degree compound cut (just enough for two-by-fours). It's also capable of through cuts on four-by-fours and two-by-sixes at straight 90-degree crosscuts. Delta offers another 10-inch compound miter saw--the 36-220--at a slightly lower price, but that model has a smaller bite and lacks the comfortable horizontal handle of this one.

Other compound miter saws (including a 12-inch model and a sliding saw from Delta) offer a bigger bite, but considering the exceptionally good price on this model, it's hard to find another saw that offers as much value. The 36-225 is a little heavier and more challenging to move around a job site than some competing portable saws, but its weight is due to Delta's solid construction, and the tool has a level of stability and accuracy we think is worth the extra heft. Delta priced this saw to attract home users, but they built it to withstand the rigors of professional use. This is an excellent saw for home shops, or for job site use, and its price certainly can't be beat. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saw for small - medium sized projects.
I've had this saw for a couple of years. It is a great saw that has never bogged down or been at a loss for power. The horizontal handle is superb. The blade is not that bad either, however it did splinter some oak & some plywood I recently cut.The only drawback is the size.I recently had to cut some shelves that were 9" wide; too big for the saw.I wish I had the 10" sliding saw (36-240).If you plan to keep your projects small to medium sized this is an excellent saw.!If you are doing larger projects, i.e. shelves, bookcases, etc. then invest in the Delta Sidekick 36-240 sliding miter saw.I have also added a LaserKerf to mine, which is a great addition ...Over all, this saw is phenomenal for the price and I am going to continue to buy Delta products.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delta 36-225 Compound Miter Saw
Excellent tool.Easy to assemble and the manual makes it easy to learn how to use.Comes with a very good blade and the side and back extensions are a great asset. The tool is easy to learn and use and is very well finished.Spending more money would be a waste of time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid economy value
This is a nice saw for the money, no problems with it. I've had one project where I wish I had a 12-inch saw or sliding miter, otherwise this works for everything around the house from chopping 2x4's to fine trim work. It's light and easily moved too. The blade that comes with it is OK and works for trim work, but it would be nice if an 80-tooth blade was included! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good News -Bad News Story
The good news is that the RAS was promply delivered (purchased via Amazon). Also, the documentation is very good and its pretty easy to follow the instructions to set the RAS up and get good square cuts.

The bad news, however, is that the RAS motor ran maybe 30 seconds before it quit!Big disappointment here as you can understand.

More good news:Called the Delta customer service line and got to talk to a live human (with only a minimal delay while listening to elevator music). After maybe two conversations where they gave me things to try, it was determined that the best course of action was to take the motor to a local (about 20 miles away) authorized service center.Turns out that the switch was defective from the factory (contacts fell out). The service rep had the switch on hand and fixed it while I waited.Saw is running fine now.

Another positive:I contacted Amazon (via Email) and they were more than willing to send a truck to my house to pick it up for a return with full refund or replacement.

I'd rate the Amazon and Delta service as excellent ... but the quality control at Delta factory as poor.

The cast iron arm and vertical column are very rugged.I'm extramely disappointed, however, in the sheet metal stand. There is a considerable amount of flexing where the column attaches. With very little force I am able to deflect the saw blade by 1/16? Also, the angle brackets that attach the table to the stand are not bent at 90 degrees. When I clamp the table down, the angles force the table to bow by about 1/8" in the center.I just purchased some steel channel and plan to fabricate my own stand that has some structural integrity. The other problem I encountered was the ability for the stop clamp to maintain position.I had a very difficult time squaring the blade to the fence until I realized this clamp was slipping.I've tightened the clamp as hard as I can and it is easily displaced with the slightest jolt from rotating the arm from 45 degrees back to zero.I plan to disassemble the machine, clean out the grease around the clamp and rough up the surface of both the clamp and the column.Once I've fixed the clamp and have built a new stand I'm sure this will be a nice machine...however, with the amount of money spent I shouldn't have to do this.

I have a basement workshop and dust is always an issues. After changing furnace parts I decided I needed more than a dust collector so I purchased this unit.I had looked at the Jet unit and liked it's timer mode, but didn't feel had as much airflow, so I stuck with Delta.Unit arrived with a little box rash, and despite being lightly packed, didn't have any damage.Hooked it up and no more dust.It seems to do a great job of getting rid of the dust that would "hang" in the air.I wish the instructions gave a little more advice on where it works best, but more often than not, space is a factor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love my new Delta 50-868 Air Cleaner!!!!
After careful study of your reviews of air cleaners,I picked the Delta.Federal Express delivered it in three days with absolutely no damage.I am impressed with the power, quiet operation (even on high),and my remote works from any direction (front, back, and sideways).Works great in my shop of 1,200 sq.ft..

5-0 out of 5 stars Wish list fulfilled!
I have been wanting to get an air cleaner for sometime for my wood shop in a 2 car garage & I'm very glad Delta did come out with this powerful remote controlled unit. I got sold on it other than being made in the USA, but also for its remote control features to program the different speed & timer settings. You need though to be facing the back of the unit to work the remote, but I've been told there is an accessory that you can buy to solve this very minor inconvenience. This machine seems to move a lot of air & this could be the reason it is a bit noisier compares to some other manufacturers. Delta's design engineers should be able to come up with a solution to this. Overall, it is a very good quality product & it serves the purpose very efficiently. A vital tool to have. ... Read more
