4-0 out of 5 stars HVLP for the Home User
I do work on quitars as a hobby.I've looked for a way to spray lacquer without the blushing and other problems that come with compressed air sprayers (oil, dirt etc).Even a decent dryer system for a comressed air setup was about the same price as this system. With this I get warm clean air and after figuring out how to adjust the gun to my liking, the finish is a professional as any I've seen!I don't think I would consider it a "production" system.Especially if you are trying to lay down thick coats to save time.I had to thin my lacquer considerably and lay down very thin coats to get it right.(But then I'm using water based lacquer)...

4-0 out of 5 stars Very happy customer
Overall I'm very pleased with the Fujispray.I would have given it 4.5 stars if that option was available.I'm a nonprofessional DIYer.I bought the Super HVLP with the standard #3 nozzle.I upgraded to the #4 nozzle because I'm spraying latex paint primarily. So far I've used it on mouldings, drawer fronts, closet doors, a large cabinet, and wainscoting panels.Only a few gripes which I suspect happen with other brands too. The seal between the cup and lid isn't tight enough. Some paint leaked through the top and dripped down the side of the cup. This only happened when I was tilting the gun close to horizontal with a full load of paint in the cup. This can ruin your finish if it drips onto your workpiece like it did to me.You can quickly wipe it off but you end up with streaks. Also the paint readily dries on the spray tip/nozzle assembly. Even while continuously spraying with no breaks the paint built up enough to distort the spray pattern or clog the spray tip.The partially dried paint would also sometimes break free and land on your workpiece.I think this is because the air from the turbine is pretty hot so the paint dries real fast even as it is being sprayed.I suspect this is a problem with all HVLP sprayers not just Fujispray.I also didn't like the bleeder gun.The blast of air is pretty potent. It kept on blowing light pieces of trim off my stands. It occasionally blew off the paper (which was taped down) that I covered the surrounding areas with. However I don't consider this a knock against Fujispray. From my review it looks like a bleeder gun is the industry standard anyways.Other than that I think its a great product for the price. You have to practice a lot and experiment with the right amount of thinning and additives you mix with the paint but eventually you do get a nice smooth finish. It's simple to set up and operate.Cleaning is easy.Customer service is outstanding.Prompt/helpful replies to all questions/orders.They even answered questions on weekends.I also ordered the diaphram attachment. It's this plastic bowl like object that goes right under the lid. It's supposed to prevent paint from going up the inlet air hose.It does work well.

5-0 out of 5 stars fuji paint sprayer
I wish I would have bought this years ago.I refinish old furnure as a hobby and have always been unhappy with my final coatings, Urethane primarily. This has solved that problem.

The unit worked great right out of the box. After reading the easy to understand manual, you can assemble the parts and be painting in minutes. This unit works great and is very easy to use.The controls are all, conveniantly, at the spray gun.

I highly recommend the fuji and am glad I didn't buy a lesser model. If you spray paint a lot I would buy the quieter fuji, although it is quite a bit more money. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon.com dipslays horrible customer service - again
I can't offer a review on the tool, but I feel that I should give anyone considering purchasing this item a "head's up" on what I have experienced.Bottom line up front: order it from Tool Crib's phone order catalogue. You will get it for the same price, but you will deal with people who have a clue about what they sell.I ordered this fence system nearly a month ago, and to the best of my knowledge, it ships in three packages: one for the Ultra Jig, one for the center mount and fence, and one for the fence rails. So far, after five e-mails to Amazon'z virtually non-responsive customer service department and two phone calls (incidentally, the Amazon customer service number is 800-201-7575 - although they do their best to hide that from you)I have recieved two shipments of the center mount and fence package and one of the Ultra Jig.I have not received the fence rails. However, Amazon insists that it sent me three separate shipments of the entire product in response to my complaints - SO THEY ARE NOW EXPECTING ME TO RETURN TWO COMPLETE PRODUCTS WHEN I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ONE IN ITS ENTIRETY!

Calls and e-mails to Amazon are fruitless - I can't seem to get them to understand that the product comes in three separate and distinct boxes, let alone actually ship the three boxes. My last call came yielded an admission from the rep that he had no idea what I was talking about and he'd "be lucky to know a hammer from a screwdriver".Tool Crib can't help me because I placed the order on-line; on-line orders are handled by Amazon. Thus, my suggestion: place the order over the phone with Tool Crib, that way, the people who handle your order will know what they are talking about.Otherwise you could be like me: owing Amazon lots of money as a result of their incompetence and ignorance for an order you never received.

I will update my review with my opinion on the fence if and when this situation is resolved.

1-0 out of 5 stars THIEVES: Make sure this is what you really want......
I purchased this on April 11th.About 30 minutes later I needed to cancel the order.I found a cheaper price locally. They indicated i could not cancel the order but I could refuse shipment, and they would credit my card. That was almost 2 months ago. They have not credited my card and refuse to give me a phone number where I can speak with a CSR.No more Amazon for me.....To bad I likedthis place.Sometimes principal can be a pain.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yeah, it's pretty nice
Anyone researching this fence has probably already read numerous positive reviews and user comments about this system about Incra in general.
I've found them to be largely true, but the system has some issues, too:
Yep, it DOES take up a lot of precious floor-space.This is especially compounded by moving the rails further to the right to extend rip capacity.
My fence is not flat.I read a ~.020" bow (proud in the center behind the carriage) with my dial caliper over the length of the fence.I expect I could grind this down, or shim out via a sub-fence.
The rails are LONG, and supporting them, while not required, seems prudent. This is especially true if you're dropping a router in an extension wing.
The "hairline" cursor on my positioner is not a hairline - it's tough reading that little scale, too - I think I could easily lock down 1/32" off and not realize it (this could be my vision, though).
I noticed that clamping the positioner in seems to move the fence a little. Not a big deal but it makes initial set-up a little hit-or-miss.
This is a modular product, so the terminology gets confusing. You're looking at a TSIII fence "system" - it includes the Ultra positioner, rails, a mounting plate, fence, and carriage. To Incra's credit, these items are all offered seperately, but this makes it a little more confusing. Some of these parts are identical to the router-table based systems (the positioner, the carriage, e.g.).It seems a little redundant to buy a TS AND a RT system since they share these components.
The knob to clamp down the front of the fence seems a little cheesy, and the back of the fence is clamped down with a (supplied) Allen wrench driver.Just seems odd compared to conventional systems.

Obviously these are picky little issues - it's a clever design, it's very modular (adding extension tables/ accesories is a breeze), manuals and packaging are the best I've seen, it can serve double-duty as a RT fence, etc. With many more words I could convey:the system is really flexible and will allow you to come up with a configuration that will suit your work needs/style.

I'm saying nothing about accuracy here because I think that's been covered well elsewhere.

The fence seems to remain square to the slots / blade, but it just feels unlikely that this is true when you use it.The center mount, friction from dragging hold downs, and general "flimsyness" of the system (in it's unlocked state - when locked, it's very secure) make me feel like the fence is skewing all over the place.

I know this is mixed bag for a review but when I was researching, I could find nothing other than "perfect"... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool and time saver
I use this polisher on my trucks and my boat and find it to be an excellent tool for compounding and waxing. Its use probably cuts in half the amount of time necessary to wax a vehicle - perhaps more. On vehicles I use it only to apply the polish removing the glaze by hand. However on the boat I use it for application and polishing. Several reviewers have noted that it is light weight so perhaps it is my age (60+) showing but I find it the polisher gets fairly heavy after a few hours of compounding a boat. I would also recommend wearing a decent pair of leather gloves when operating the polisher otherwise you can probably expect a large blister on the hand hold the side handle. For what its worth I use the orange hook and loop pads from Griot's Garage. I find the quality of the tool itself to be excellent and fully expect it to last for many, many years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool for DIY detailers
This is the tool of choice for many professional and most DIY detailers.

As many reviewers have stated the hook and loop (velcro) pad makes using this tool MUCH easier. To do a proper job on you car, plane or boat you will need to use at least two different types of pads. Thus the ability to simply rip off a pad and stick on a the next one is a HUGE time saver.

As mentioned it is a bit louder than you would expect so you may want to consider hearing protection if you are going to be using it for long periods of time.

Pad selection will depend on the job you need to do.Choosing the right pads for the job can be determined by visiting www.properautocare.comthey will teach you how to use the polisher and the correct pads as well as the correct wax/polishing products for you needs.

Establishing and understanding your needs and then buying the correct pads and polish/wax is required to deliver the best results.

Your end result is completly dependent on how well you do the basics. The Porter Cable is just a tool that makes the job MUCH easier...and in a lot of cases does things that you could never accomplish by hand...however it's not a miracle worker on its own.

This is a solidly built tool for professionals and I recommend it highly.Don't waste your time with those cheapie versions...buy this and you will never regret it.

PSI Woodworking PPS-B Portable Panel Saw System
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Tools & Hardware
list price: $120.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Once you take the time to do the initial adjustments with this system, getting your saw square to the mounting plate, you can literally cut sheet goods with your eyes closed. Just clamp the unit securely to the workpiece, and your saw rides as if on air, thanks to the sealed ball bearings that provide almost effortless movement. Unlike your standard (and painfully spendy) panel saw, this little rig allows you to cut sheet goods flawlessly at absolutely any angle. The other alternative--wrestling with a full sheet and a table saw--is exhausting, dangerous, and not much fun. Sure, if you have a garage or workshop the size of Kansas and a budget to match, you can buy a true panel saw. But we think you’ll be turning to this little setup more often. Applause to PSI for a brilliant, inexpensive solution. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's too easy?
I've read the other reviews and cannot understand the ones that are critical. I took about 15 to 20 minutes to set it up, clamping the rail to the plywood, checking and checking again and then made my first rip cut into a sheet of 4'X 8' 3/4" birch. The saw glided down the rail and made an effortless perfect cut. I love this thing!

4-0 out of 5 stars Aggravating to set up, but finally works well
The other reviewers who note that this tool is a pain to set up are correct. But, it does function as advertised once you go through the process.I bolted the carriage to a Skil 77 wormdrive by drilling holes, since the mounting clamps would not fit, and mounted the guide bars on fiberboard. With a 40T thin kerf trim blade on the Skil, I can get tablesaw quality cuts with the tool.I usually cut panels at the jobsite by laying them on a sheet of foam isulation board, and cutting through the panel and into the foam. That way I don't have to lift the panels, and worry about the piece I cut falling, jamming the sawblade, etc.The PPS-B is ideal for this kind of setup.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sold after the sale
I read many of the reviews and was hesitant in purchasing this unit. Then I thought how bad can it be.After receiving the unit, I don't know what some reviewers found so difficult in mounting the saw to the base.I dedicated a not so expensive Skill saw for this task.Mounting the saw was easy.I did not mount the rails to any guides but did make the suggested spacers for lining up the rails. This worked fine for me and I was impressed at how smooth the saw glided along the rail and with a good blade, it made easy, accurate cuts.I feel Igot lucky for once and found this money well spent. ...
