Paslode 900400 Trimpulse Solid State Finish Nailer

    Editorial Review

Great for all kinds of finish and trim work, this Trimpulse finish nailer from Paslode lets you avoid the hassle of compressor hoses and compressor noise. Its small (less than 12 inches long), lightweight body (5 pounds, 8 ounces) is easy to grip and, because you're not hooked to a hose, doesn't cause as much arm fatigue as other nailers. The nailer drives 3/4- to 2-1/2-inch nails and has easy-to-adjust drive depth, as well as a Quick-Clear feature that provides easy access to the nailer's nose if a jam occurs. This Paslode nailer also uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and an included rechargeable battery. We were impressed by the nailer's performance--it's consistent and there's plenty of power for most uses. This model will shoot up to 2,400 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge. It also has a convenient belt hanger so you don't have to lay the gun on the ground or on top of a ladder, and the high-visibility orange makes it difficult to overlook. The kit includes a plastic carrying case, a lightweight charger, and safety goggles. Please note that the nailer does not come with the fuel cell included. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
When I first purchased this gun it performed like a dream, however, after the first brads things started to go wrong. These problems were not corrected even when thirty minutes is spent cleaning the gun as per the manufacturer's directions.I have faithfully used both the expensive de-greasers and lubricating oil to no avail.I appear to spend longer cleaning the bloody thing than actually using it.

After a thorough cleaning the gun works well for a short time and then the problems start. The gun will consistantly misfire, in that the nose will be depressed and the fan will start, but no combustion occurs.Originally I believed that it must have been the spark, but that appears to be okay.

I have returned this particular gun to the service agent on a number of occasions for the following reasons:

    Split main o-ring
    Fan motor burnt out
hole in the dust filter, failure to fire when contact element is lightly, but fully depressed.

Another major problem with this model is the spring in the magazine hold open device. This spring keeps the rear of the nails properly aligned.I have lost this spring, by vertue of it falling out, on no fewer than three occasions.I have now given up with this feature of the gun and it still seems to function okay.

Don't get me wrong I am not anti-paslode, .I own the framer and air fit out gun and their great tools, however this fit-out gun is a lemon.Steer well clear of it and purhaps look at some of the newer models.I wish I had, but I liked the ability to change between guages of the brads.

2-0 out of 5 stars customer service
Living in Los Angeles must be the "out back" to Paslode,I purchased the tool with the understanding that nails and fuel cells could be purchased at places like Lowes and Home Depot or at best at local tool outlets.I have yet to find a retailer that sell the 18 guage nail, some do sell brads. I had to have the fuel cell UPS'ed from Oxnard Ca. I went on line and discussed the problem with Paslode. They could care less, they insist that fuel cells and nails are available(but they wouldn't sell me any????. So I continue to call tool supply stores and check larger retailers. The Paslode catalogue "on line fastener section" does not even refer to the nails in question. As far as performance, when using brads it works adequatly. So to any and all of you that are considering the purchase of this tool make sure that accessories and supplies are available Would I buy another produce-----NO.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a Joke...
I bought this tool several months ago, and I'm really disappointed with its performance. This tool is for light weight wussy work. Has no durability whatsoever. I was working with heavy duty concrete and after 2 months the performance was getting weaker and after 1 more month the engine burned. No technical service and I got no responses from my e-mails.
I just got a Hilti Rotary hammer and this tool is kicking hard. I pay double of the price, but with this tool I can work for years without worry.

At no point in my life have i felt so complete as that first day that I picked up my DeWalt Hammer drill. I cannot describe the utter quality and sheer genius that this fine tool radiates. if you are going to buy one rotary hammer drill kit this year, make it the DeWalt DW004K 24 Volt Heavy Duty 7/8"SDS rotary hammer drill kit.

I bought this particular drill just over a year ago now, i cant find 1 single fault with it. it has taken the knocks and blows, and i am as yet to find ANY drill of its size to rival it, either corded or cordless. I paid £550 for mine, and it is the best value for money of ANY object i've bought EVER !! I have been asked several times "was it worth it", as to which i have replied on every occasion-"every single penny". ... Read more

    Editorial Review

For years, Milwaukee's Sawzalls have been valued for their outstanding ability to cut through almost any material: wood, nail-embedded wood, steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, drywall, composition materials, hard rubber, cement, brick, plaster, and fiberglass. This 11 amp Super Sawzall has a standard blade stroke mode, plus an orbital stroke mode for more aggressive, faster cutting of thick wood. You can choose the level of orbital action, too, to fit the application--or you can switch it off for cutting in metal. Like almost all reciprocating saws, this Super Sawzall also has variable-speed control (with a speed control dial) for versatility, control, and increased efficiency over a wide range of applications. For those of you who've grown up with Sawzalls, you'll appreciate the addition of the handy Quik-Lok blade clamp, which lets you change blades quickly without having to use a hex wrench; this feature is especially convenient when you're cutting hard materials, such as steel, a situation in which blades break frequently. There's also a handy quick lever adjustment for the shoe.

We really like this tool's counterbalancing mechanism, which reduces some of the unavoidable vibration found in reciprocating saws. The difference you feel when operating this tool, compared to nonbalanced saws, is significant: the Super Sawzall is still extremely powerful, yet it has a smooth feel. As a result, of course, you can work longer with less fatigue than you can using other, unbalanced saws. Another significant feature is the clutch, which, by absorbing shock and impacts to the internal mechanics caused by sudden blade lockups (typically encountered during extreme use), minimizes time wasted tending to a damaged saw. Although this is a heavy tool, it does have an ergonomically designed rubber grip that provides a solid, comfortable hold. --Tim Block ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars milwaukee is the standard
I am a master electrician, and everyone on a professional job site knows that milwaukee is the tool that the "big boys" use.the only problem for me is that i cut mostly metal pipe, so the orbital action is not very usefull for me.I could have gotten by with a model w/o orbital action.but for anyone considering reciprocating saws: there is a reason everyone on the job refers to all reciprocating saws as a "sawzall."that is the name of only milwaukee reciprocating saws.kinda like someone refering to all soft drinks as "cokes." Milwaukee is the is the original and the best.

also, i seriously doubt the validity of a milwaukee not working after a short time as described by some reviews.I have never heard of or seen any milwaukee fail. my one caution is that nowadays china is exporting exact knock offs of power tools including bosch and milwaukee.if you bought this sawzall for less than about 180, then there is something wrong.the imitators will look exactly like the real thing, but the internals are much inferior.so beware.if you get the genuine milwaukee, it will be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the older saws
Horrible saw.Burnt out motor on first cut.Had to use older milwaukee w/4.0 amp motor to finish cut......which cut better and faster with the same blade.Very dissapointed. The older saws were (and still are) way better.

No difference between orbital and recip settings.Purely a gimick.

    DO NOT BUY.

    1-0 out of 5 stars What a P.O.S.
This is the first time I've been moved to write a review. We have had three of these saws go bad in the past two weeks, and I'm just disgusted.I don't know if it is just the orbital model, or all the new Milwaukee sawzalls, but these things drop like flies on our site.We do remodelling projects with a small crew, and the Sawzalls and Skilsaws get the most use.At least the Skilsaws are still as good as they used to be (though I switched to the Bosch version).I'm thinking I need a Porter Cable or Bosch reciprocating saw to replace my burned out Milwaukee. ... Makita 5007NBK13 Amp, 7-1/4" Circular Saw with Carrying Case

    list price: $243.00

    Editorial Review

Circular saws are like pickup trucks--everyone seems to have a stand-alone favorite, a saw that (in the user's experience, anyway) vastly outperforms all others. Well, on a lot of job sites that favorite is the 7-1/4-inch Makita. With its long-lasting 13 amp Makita motor, heavy-duty aluminum foot, and easy-to-read gauges, this saw is tough to find fault with. The bevel adjusts smoothly with a screw-tightened lock, and depth adjustments are equally easy to make. There's also a built-in shaft lock for easy blade changes. As with so many Makita tools, the brushes are easily accessed and replaced. While it's true that with heavy use the depth adjustment can start slipping, retightening the lever lock is fairly easy. The main reason we (along with a lot of other people) like Makita's saw, however, is its remarkably well-balanced design: it's extremely easy to follow a line, and even after a long day of making cuts, this saw still feels good in your hand. --Jon Groebner ... 5-0 out of 5 stars simply the best
Ive been a self employed carpenter for thirty years and used every circular on the market. Skil before & after Bosch, B&D, Porter Cable before & after Rockwell,Milwalkee, DeWalt, Miller Falls, and Sears. Nothing has the feel, power and dependability of this Makita. Even the old worm drive skil, which you need a crane after rafters or stair stringers, has met it's match with the 5007. It is heavy enough not to bounce all over the work as light diy saws do, but light enough to still drink a soda one handed at the end of the day. You can rip all day with it, and it never overheats, nor can you bind it into a stall easily. Only complaint I have is I wish it wouldn't hit you in the face with the saw dust. Good saw buy it. Oh! it is made right here in the USA.
This is a complaint; I dropped mine down a flight of stairs, and bent it. I replaced it. It is now made overseas, and no longer made in Buford Georgia. No wonder so many Americans are out of work.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makita 5007NBK 7-1/4" Circular Saw
This is an excellent saw that I have owned and used on the job for many years. It is lightweight and extremely durable with a powerful 13 Amp motor. The handle positions and balance are just right for me, giving a very controlled cut. With the optional rip fence, and a standard carbide tipped master-crosscut blade, I have used it many times when a table saw was unavailable, to rip 16-foot 2X PT into 1-1/4" strips. This is a brutal task for any 7-1/4" circular saw, but this Makita takes the choking strain and heat buildup in stride. I wouldn't recommend trying this continuously with another brand of sidewinder unless you really want to see what it's made of, and can afford to replace it. This saw is also great for cutting 1/2" cement backerboard using a 7-inch dry-cut continuous-rim blade.
An occasional set of motor brushes and a new power cord are the only repairs made over the years. I'm still amazed that the switch hasn't fried yet considering all of the heavy loading this saw has seen.
The 5007NBK is a contractors' saw made for continuous, repetitive cutting, so there is no electric brake or safety on the trigger switch. The saw has a blade lock for easy blade changing. Depth adjustment is done with a thumb lever located at the rear of the heavy gauge aluminum foot.
This saw was considered by many to be "The Builders' Saw" in the eighties and early nineties and was extremely prevalent on jobsites then. It has outlasted other saws I have owned by many years, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a durable, long lasting tool for heavy on the job use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Saw - Accurate, powerful, durable, inexpensive
My brother-in-law does remodeling and as a result, puts his power tools through hell. He's used the same Makita circular saw since the 1980s.It was based on seeing how well his saw still performed that I decided to purchase the Makita.I've never been sorry.I'm not a pro, but I certainly enjoy having a powerful, accurate saw when I need to make home repairs.I haven't found anything I can't slice through with this little monster.I've had it several years and it works like a new tool. The 13-amp motor supplies more than enough power for extended cutting of hard, thick lumber and has the added homeowner's advantage of not causing your 15-amp breakers to trip like some of the larger saws. There's a good reason you see these things all over job sites - they work well and last forever. ... The two precision-ground, cast-iron wings set this saw apartfrom average contractor-style saws with steel wings. Heavy-dutycast-iron trunnions support the sealed ball-bearings' blade arborhousing for a smooth performance with minimal vibration. JET also usestotally enclosed fan-cooled motors, preventing overheating and dustinfiltration and resulting in longer motor life and less risk of a firehazard than with open motor housing. The stand for this saw is made ofa tougher-gauge metal and has a 4-inch dust port for easy connection toa dust collector. Another user-friendly feature is the quick-connectelectrical plug right at the saw, meaning you don't have to search outthe wall socket prior to every blade change. JET has also located theon/off switch at the top left for easy access when a quick shutdown isrequired. A change in the hole pattern on the fence rails means leftiescan now shift the set to their preferences. The fit, finish, and use ofa more durable powder coating instead of paint will make a proud ownerof every user--from the beginner who wants to learn with confidence tothe seasoned pro who doesn't have space for a full-size cabinet saw.--Nancy Gleason ... 4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars with Jet Fence - 5 with Xacta II
This was my first Jet purchase.
Runs very good. I never liked the Jet fence though, it seems a little short and I wish it had more support on the outfeed side.
I ended up buying a xacta fence II which is made by HTC. Was like night and day.
This functions almost like a cabinet saw, at least in my dreams with these additions:
I replaced the v-belt with a link belt which made the saw quite and a bit smoother. I also replaced the manufacturer supplied trunion bolts in the saw with the PALS (Precision Alignment System) which allows you to micro adjust your blade's alignment.

Assembly as all my Jet purchases have been a breeze. Until it's time to align the belt and apply tension to the belt. That is the tricky part with a one-man assembly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw
I ordered this saw through Amazon. Assembly and instructions were pretty easy. I used a straight edge (that's used to check
engine blocks & heads) for setting the wings and they are right on. I switched it over to 220, the saw has cut everything I threw at it with like butter. Problem still unresolved, the pivot pin for the miter gauge was missing. Call Jet and since I bought it from Amazon, I have to get parts through Amazon. So far it's been over 2 weeks and still no part. Was going to order the Jet Jointer but after the fence deal I bought it from a local Woodcraft store. Other then that I'm happy with the saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best contractor saw available!
I am a 17 year-old woodworker, and I have had my Jet 10" contractor saw for a little over a year now, and it has performed amazingly. I wanted to get a cabinet saw but I barely had enough money to get a contractor saw. After doing some research i decided on getting a Jet table saw with its nice powder coating paint, and its nicely polished cast iron top. This sawcuts nicely and is pretty quiet, and I love the soundof the saw, especially when the blade break stops the blade. I made a 4'x5' outfeed table, And just recently purchased a 40" Biesemeyer home shop rip fence, and now the saw is just perfect, I can cut a full sheet of plywood all by myself effortlesly. When I first got it I added a power-link belt which dramatically cut down the vibration, One day ill get a cabinet saw, but for noe this saw does the perfect job, good investment. ...
