    Editorial Review

The first thing we look for in a table saw--portable or otherwise--is an accurate, smooth-working fence, and the telescoping fence on DeWalt's 10-inch portable table saw impressed us immediately. Fully extended, the fence delivers a 24-1/2-inch rip capacity, letting you cut to the center of a 4-by-8-foot sheet, while the rack-and-pinion design lets you make microadjustments fast and accurately. We also liked how the fence rides on both the front and back rails so that it's parallel to the blade at all times. The telescoping rails retract, too--when the job's done, the saw is easy and safe to transport.

Like most 10-inch portable saws, DeWalt's has a 3-1/8-inch depth capacity at 90 degrees and a 2-1/4-inch capacity at 45. The 15 amp motor cranks plenty of torque and doesn't lag when cutting hardwood or pressure-treated stock. Performance aside, DeWalt clearly also kept safety in mind when designing this saw. Its oversize on/off switch is positioned so you can easily bump it off with your knee if you get into trouble making a cut. The arbor on Dewalt's saw also has the capacity for a full dado stack. Add to that the saw's dust-collection hookup and sturdy steel stand, and you've got a portable table saw that can hold its own in the shop. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This saw is so awesome !!
After using this saw for only a few hours, I am so in love with it !! It is well worth the money. I do think that for the price Dewalt should include the outfeed support. I also would have preferred a 4" dust port, but hey, you can't have everything.
The rack and pinion fence is right on the money. Dewalt has done it again. They make good stuff !!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saw
It's light, easy to use and the rip fence on gear tracks is excellent. No place to wind the cord is kinda crappy, and the blade angle adjustment slides rather than having something like the knob used for the rip fence for adjustments. The frying pan coating on top doesn't last long if you don't wipe it down with some WD-40 once in a while. I've used it as a jobsite saw and to build cabinets, speaker boxes, cut plexiglass, etc. It's not a $1500 cabinet saw but if you screw a sheet of plywood to a couple sawhorses as a outfeed table and take some care in your cuts, it works awesome for something one person can carry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic saw for its class
I've had this saw for a year now.I have a small shop and didn't want to sacrifice the permanent square footage for a stationary cabinet model. So I was only looking for a portable...but a good portable.I am not a professional in any trade, but am a very seasoned DIY'er, particularly with woodworking.I've made a few pieces of furniture with the saw and I don't regret its purchase at all. Here are my thoughts on this item:

    POSITIVES

    1) Portability, portability, portability.I usually have it set up on the leg stand in my shop, buy have needed to transport it mutliple times either inside my house or to other sites I worked at.

    2) The 15 amp motor is impressively beefy, considering it is a portable, and cuts quite nicely through any wood I've tried so far (including oak and birch).

    3) The folding legs are easy to set up and EXTREMELY sturdy when the saw is on and properly bolted on (bolts are not included though...)

    4) The fence is great.Easily adjusts and stays true and parallel (a minor flaw though...see below).

    NEGATIVES

    1) When saw dust gets built up on the pinion gears for the fence adjusting mechanism, the gear(s) sometimes slip over one tooth and the fence gets out of parallel. However, you'll easily know when it happens (if you don't notice it by eye, you'll quickly notice the wood binding up in the blade!)However, it is a quick and easy fix by hand to put it back parallel...and impetus to keep your tools clean.

    2) The blade guard is relatively cheaply built and a nuisance. Although it is a cardinal sin, I never use the guard.

    3) The open ended arbor wrench stripped open a little bit after a few months of moderate use.I switched a lot between a ripping, cross cutting and dado blades when making two pieces of furniture. The mouth on the open ended wrench seemed to have stretched out a little and would slip off the arbor when I was trying to tighten/loosen the arbor nut. After banging up my knuckles a few times, I ordered a new wrench from the DeWalt service center near me (only costs about $2).Unfortunately, a normal open-ended wrench is too wide to fit in...you need to use the thin DeWalt wrench.

    4) The combo blade that comes with it is relatively cheap. It cuts fine through most woods, but leaves blade marks. Also, there is more splintering/tearing than I would like when cutting through plywood.I highly recommend splurging on a Forrest Woodworker II blade and dampener.Flawless cuts on this was with the Forrest blade.

Overall, I absolutely love this tool. The price seems high (and sort of is considering it is portable), but the DeWalt quality is worth it compared to the much cheaper Ryobi and Makita models. The negatives I have listed are fairly minor; mere nuisances with easy fixes.Be sure to check the fine tuning of the fence width ruler and parallelness of the fence.I had to tweak them a little before I first used the saw to get everything just right. If you need portability and want to save space but don't want to sacrifice a lot of the benefits of a cabinet saw, this tool is a must! ... Bosch 400010" Worksite Table Saw
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars

    Editorial Review

Bosch's 10-inch Worksite table saw might just be the best of the current bunch. Benchtop table saws--which weigh 60 to 100 pounds and are light enough for one person to carry from the truck to the job site--have increased in popularity in recent years. They set up easily on a workbench or sawhorses and generally feature stable components that make them great for pros and serious hobbyists alike. Although at 60 pounds the Bosch is lighter than any other saw in its class, this saw is no lightweight. It sports a die-cast undercarriage and powerful 4.4-horsepower, 15 amp motor--burly components that make it a serious, albeit slight, contender. Conveniently, the Bosch comes ready to use right out of the box; we were making cuts about 10 minutes after the UPS delivery. Plus, it's the only benchtop table saw with an arbor lock, so mounting the blade is a one-wrench affair (less chance for busted knuckles). The wrench--like all those that come with Bosch tools--is forged, rather than stamped, and so there are no sharp edges that dig into your hand during blade changes. It's a small detail, but one that matters and one that's typical of the attention to detail paid by Bosch engineers.

A flip of the paddle-style on/off switch initiates the soft-start electronics, which ramp the blade up to speed quickly without any disturbing jolt. The electronic feedback, popular on many saws today, keeps the blade turning at a constant speed, no matter what the load. The fence is the heart of any table saw and we found Bosch's to be a beauty. It's well machined and locks securely and accurately to the table. The cam-lock handle is padded, seats flush, and feels good to use. Like the comparable DeWalt saw, the Bosch features an extendable fence that makes it easy to rip four-by-eight panel material. It feels solid and slides smoothly, and the scales are easy to read. (There's even a built-in magnifying glass to cut down on the squint factor.) As with all the new Bosch tools, wrenches and removable items store nicely onboard the saw. The fence snaps into a holder on the side of the saw and stays put, and the miter gauge slides into a slot on the front of the tool--yet another small detail that we appreciate. The bottom line? The Bosch is a powerful saw that handles big stock without bogging down. --Mark McDonald ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch 4000 Worksite table saw
My Bosch table saw just arrived via UPS. Upon opening the box and putting together the saw, I realized that this is an excellent product. It is built to take abuse and remarkably, came out of the box in near perfect alignment. The fence, blade and miter guide needed very minor tweaking to make it 100% aligned. When I first used the saw, I expected it to be noisy and vibrate across the floor. Much to my surprise, it runs smoother than my floor model table saw. It is every bit as accurate, probably more so and is an incredible machine. I conducted extensive reviews of the saw prior to purchase and noted that all reviews were very positive. The only drawback I have found is that the placement of the on-off switch could be a bit more accessible. I like to turn off the machine with my knee if necessary and this switch is rather difficult to turn off without bending over and using a hand. I expect to modify a switch to allow use of the knee. Overall, this machine is top notch!

5-0 out of 5 stars good saw -- and customer service
After reading up extensively on worksite table saws, I went with the Bosch and have not been disappointed. It has handled a variety of materials (soft and hard woods) with ease and precision.

One problem I did have was with the washers used to secure the blade on the arbor. The outer washer wouldn't fit in the inner position such that I could use a wide dado configuration. BUT this turned into a positive.I emailed the company and got a quick response and a week later received new washers -- that fixed the problem -- via express mail.

    good job, bosch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best table saw I've ever used
The Bosch is the best table saw I have ever used. The features of this saw make it stand above the others.Features like the soft start motor show that this tool is well engineered and will last a lifetime. The fence is easy to use and accurate, and the sliding table extension and out-feed support are like having a second pair of hands. This tool is definitly worth the money. ... For the price, Makita's 10-inch portable table saw is a solid choice for the job site. The 15 amp motor packs plenty of power, and with a 3-9/16-cut capacity, this saw will rip four-by material on a single pass. This saw also has an electric brake, so adjustments between cuts are both safer and quicker to make. The table's a good size, too: 27 by 22 inches. We also really like the saw's new cam-lock rip fence, which is much easier to adjust than double-locking designs. The bevel adjust has a pretty good rack-and-pinion design (metal, admittedly, would be better). All in all, this saw strikes a nice balance between weight (only 40 pounds) and vibration (minimal). Simply put, the Makita 2703 is a solid saw, better for the job site (quick, powerful, lightweight) than the home shop. For the shop, we'd recommend a saw with a more accurate fence. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The king of lightweight table saws
I bought the 10" Makita table saw after I got tired of lugging the massive and heavy Bosch in and out of my truck everyday. With the Bosch, you can expect to spend a lot of time at the chiropractor, but the Makita is so lightweight I can carry it with one hand.

I normally use a 7 1/4" Marathon blade for ripping and a 7 1/4" 40 tooth red Freud deck blade for finish ripping/cross cutting. With the small and thin blades, the saw cuts incredibly fast and clean. I also own several expensive 10" blades, but I only mount them when I need to cut deeper than 1x material.

I also have the Rousseau stand with the Biesemeyer style fence. There is no better fence and stand for a portable. With infeed rollers and long outfeed tables, I have ripped and resawn lumber as long as 21 feet with the little Makita with no problems.

I recently added a set of "Board Buddies" hold downs to the fence and now the saw cuts more accurately than a delta cabinet saw with a unifence.

I miss the soft start and quiet running motor of the Bosch, but the blade brake on the Makita is more practical and safer. The small 7 1/4" blades stop almost instantly.

The Makita saw has a removable trigger safety that prevents the saw from turning on when you remove the safety.

Makita does not offer a zero-clearance kerf insert, but it is easy to make them out of mdf. Dado inserts are available, however.

The stock fence will work if you lock it down parallel to the blade, but it leaves a lot to be desired. The stock rip capacity is less than 20 inches. This saw really is designed to be used in a Rousseau or Makita (made by Rousseau) stand with the large fence. The saw lacks all the sliding extensions and rack & pinion assemblies that you don't need with a Rousseau stand. If you don't intend to buy a Rousseau stand for your saw, you will be better off with a higher priced saw that has a better fence and more rip capacity.

Ripping a 4x in a single pass is an amazing and humbling experience because all that blade sticking out of the table could take a leg off a Rhino in no time flat. Ripping huge lumber is best left to the lumber yards with their monstrous saws and fearless machine operators. I mostly use the saw for finish work so I rarely need to run anything thicker than a 2x4 through the saw, thankfully.

There are lighter and cheaper saws available, but many of the cheaper saws do not have a blade shroud (the Makita's is made from cast aluminum instead of plastic). The blade shroud keeps you from putting a hand into the running blade should you reach under the saw for something. The metal shroud would offer better protection from shrapnel should your blade lose a tooth or fracture.

I recommend this saw for a contractor looking for a lightweight yet powerful and accurate portable. The price is great, the saw is super easy to transport and set up, and the saws are know to be extremely durable and long lasting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Light, powerful, imprecise, non-standard
Strong saw, and light, and with the Porta Table has a nice fence and will cut very wide. However, the arbor is too short for dado work as large as I'd like and the non-standard miter slots limit the amount of after market stuff you can use with the saw.I'm looking to sell mine and upgrade to a more versatile saw.

3-0 out of 5 stars If the fence were better . . .
This is a great saw in many ways. It's light, but sturdy. It's set up perfectly right out of the box, and offers easy adjustments to fine tune its performance. It's perfect to haul to jobsites, or just pull out of the garage on weekends. No other lightweight table saw is so solid, durable, and powerful.

So the fence really is a pity. It's easy to adjust and lock, but it doesn't square automatically. You have to realign it every time you reset it.And it doesn't even hold a setting, unless you clamp it in place with huge c-clamps.So it's not really suitable for any kind of fine work unless you replace the fence.Which isn't easy, because it's not a standard size, and you have to fabricate brackets.Which isn't really that difficult, but for about the same money, Ryobe makes a saw with a great fence. It's not as powerful or durable as the Makita, but if I were doing it all again, I don't think I would have bought this saw. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Table saw, Bad for Molding and Dado blades
I have used this saw for about 3 months now for general projects just needing the use of a fair table saw. With the exception of a poor fence, this saw does a good job. The motor has fair power for larger pieces of wood. 1/2" - 3/4" plywood is not a problem.

Just recently I attempted to use a Molding Blade that was supposed to fit a "Standard" 10" Table Saw. Well I quickly found that the 5/8" Arbor is too short to fit a Molding blade, and will only fit a Dado Blade up to 1/2". I found a way to mount the blade (used a smaller washer instead of the thick spacer)and it had plenty of power to handle the task.

Overall this is not a bad saw for around [price]. The fence is quite "rickety" and is not a precision piece of equipment by any means.

My son in law has the Delta 36-550 Deluxe table saw and i use it alot it is Great,i move it all around were i am working it is lite and easy to operate i hope that santa brings me one.

3-0 out of 5 stars The good, the bad, and the underpowered
If you're considering this table saw, be certain it's what you want.Consider what you'll be using it for.If you need portability, this is great.I carry it around with one hand.I used it to install a laminate floor in my rental property. It was nice to take it out to the garage on site.I've since upgraded to a delta platinum contractor's saw.I bought the table saw to make furniture. That's a bit amitious for this saw. Here's a list of my pros and cons:

    Pro:
Light weight - You can carry it anywhere. If that's a requirement, great.Contractor's saws can require two people to move.

Inexpensive - You can get into woodworking for not much money. This can be a good first saw depending on what you're planning to make.Make small stuff.I built a table for my son.2.5"x2.5" poplar table legs were just beyond the ability of the saw.I was able to make it work though.

Alignment was good out of the box.

    Con:
Light weight - You'll need to bolt it down. The lower the weight, the higher the vibration. This translates into less accuracy.

Underpowered motor - For the price, it's fine. But it's easy to bog down.Stick to 3/4" boards or plywood.Anything thicker is too much for the saw.

Loud - Wear earplugs. It sounds like 1,000 evicerated cats. It's even louder than my router.Positivly ear-splitting.

Sloppy miter gauge - The gauge wiggles in the track. That translates to poor accuracy.Chuck the miter gauge and make a panel cutting jig, use it for everything.

Lousy fence - The fence is laughable. You could use it for small stuff, but it may get in the way more often.

Small table - The table size will be an issue for making furniture.Should be ok for small stuff.

Not so good blade - Measure the blade for runout, it may be unusable. The one that came with my delta contractor's saw had a runout of 1/4"!So I had effectively a wobble-type dado blade that cut 1/4" dados. The one that came with this saw was a little better.

    Recommendations:

Make a panel cutting jig and toss the miter gauge.

Integrate the saw into a larger table.Norm (new yankee workshop) has plans for such a thing with an auxiliary fence.

    Keep the projects small.

Replace the blade.Plan on spending $80 and up for a good blade.

Save your money and consider getting a less expensive contractor's saw. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The Hitachi 10-inch table saw is a lightweight portable that packs plenty of power and prices in the midrange of portable table saws. We've come to think of a good-quality rip fence as perhaps the most important feature of any table saw, and the Hitachi has a nicely finished, easily adjusted fence that feels sturdy and well mounted. The cam-lock handle is easy to operate and holds the fence firmly in place. The bevel adjustment is simply designed and operates smoothly. The handle pulls out to disengage and move the blade in large increments, then pushes back in for crank-turn microadjustments. However, we found a flaw with the Hitachi's poorly designed bevel lock. This rather small lever is mounted alongside the crank handle. As the blade tilts, the lever moves with it. The problem comes when the blade is tilted to a full 45-degree angle: in that position, the lever is tucked up close under the table and is very hard to tighten. This drawback probably isn't enough to dissuade true Hitachi loyals, who appreciate the power and durability of the famous Hitachi motor, but an improvement here would make this decent and reliable saw a top contender. The Hitachi doesn't feature the extendable fence for ripping four-by-eight panel material like the Bosch and DeWalt saws, but at $150 less than those tools, it's a solid and affordable performer. --Mark McDonald ... 4-0 out of 5 stars C10RA2 Hitachi Poratable
These are mostly first impressions as I only have used this saw a few days. I also have a highly modified Ridgid TS1230 with a 52" Biesmeyer fence and 49X49 outfeed table as a stationary shop tool. For size, weight, & Price this is a nice tool for a portable. The stand is stable and stays put on a hardwood floor covered with sawdust ( they must have improved the feet since an earlier review). The fence is good & stable. I did have to adjust it to make it parallel to the blade and mitre slot.. I would expect that on any new table saw fresh out of the box.. What was Hitachi thinking in regard to the mitre slot and gage? I'll probably have the slot milled to accept a real mitre gage etc. if a job calls for that much accuracy.. (this is a portable after all) Another improvement would be a zero clearance throat plate. I made one for a stationary tablesaw out of Lexan (what an improvement). For what I bought this saw for It's Just Fine It's not a $1200 cabinet saw but for $300 or less It's money well spent...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value and good quality,Well built
I purchased this table saw in a state of emergancy.I was building a sauna and needed to trim a prebuilt bench 3/8" off the end of a 2 by 4 constructed sitting bench 33" in length 25" wide. After purchasing the saw I sat down and read the reviews and felt I had made a mistake buying this saw I was considering a craftman ,rigid, and dewalt. While I was unpacking and assembling the saw I was Impressed with the construction of this product all metal even things you wouldnt expect.Yes the mitre gauge is junk but the fence makes up for that,it performed great on the trimming of my bench and I ripped some 1/2 in stock for molding,I could'nt have been happier.I thought I would be returning this saw at first now I am thrilled I bought it.I read through the other reviews and saw some good points but I think people need to realize that this is a 300.00saw that is portable, accurate fence, great quality, plenty of power, and well built.Try and find that in a saw in its class.I found problems with more expensive models at 500.00 Too much plasic, smaller table and less than great mitre gauges. The bottom line is the fence is worth one hundred the construction is worth two hundred and the 5 yr warrenty,I am sure the thing will last and make countless accurate cuts.

1-0 out of 5 stars If your looking for a good saw, then overlook the C10RA2
Hitachi has released some pretty decent products in the past, but in my opinion this table saw is definitely not one of them.

It does have a few good points like a nice cast iron 3 piece table, and aluminum fence, and the body is sheet metal, and is not plastic, and the motor is plenty powerful.

Now for the complaints. The stand that comes with the saw looks nice but functions poorly. Sometimes when I saw a large piece of wood the entire thing slides on the floor, sometimes damaging the workpiece. Another problem I have with it is that there is no way to upgrade the size of the table, in fact there is only one upgrade to the entire unit, a dado insert. The miter slot isn't standard, so you can add absolutely no third party accessories that would fit in a standard miter slot. Concerning the 3 piece table, I have noticed that the two side pieces are sometimes nearly a 16th" off from the center piece and I have to unscrew them and realign them flat, I am afraid one day I will wear out the screws and it won't realign correctly. Yet another problem is with the blade guard. Great idea, but it just doesn't work. When I align the fence and run a board through, the board almost always gets stuck on the blade guard and I have to push very hard (not safe at all), then the stand (with no rubber feet) begins to slip and the whole table saw slides, making it extremely dangerous. I have since then installed the saw onto one of the Ridgid mobile utility carts, and turned the Hitachi stand into a chair(I haven't slid out yet, heh heh). I also removed the blade guard completely. Oh yeah, yet another complaint, This thing is EXTREMELY LOUD!!! Wear ear protection especially at the start up. Oh yeah I forgot about yet another problem. When you use the blade tilt mechanism and want to go to 45 degrees, the blade lock gets in the way and you end up busting your knuckles, and having to realign the lock so that you can move the tilt mechanism and lock the blade so it stays at the angle you want.

I have owned this saw for 9 months, and made a couple hundred cuts with it, and in conclusion I definitely wish I had bought another saw, probably a Ridgid. It always happens to me when I try to save a few bucks. If you are looking for a saw to do just a few cuts maybe buy a less expensive delta, but if you are looking for a semi-professional saw, you may want to overlook the Hitachi C10RA2. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The two precision-ground, cast-iron wings set this saw apartfrom average contractor-style saws with steel wings. Heavy-dutycast-iron trunnions support the sealed ball-bearings' blade arborhousing for a smooth performance with minimal vibration. JET also usestotally enclosed fan-cooled motors, preventing overheating and dustinfiltration and resulting in longer motor life and less risk of a firehazard than with open motor housing. The stand for this saw is made ofa tougher-gauge metal and has a 4-inch dust port for easy connection toa dust collector. Another user-friendly feature is the quick-connectelectrical plug right at the saw, meaning you don't have to search outthe wall socket prior to every blade change. JET has also located theon/off switch at the top left for easy access when a quick shutdown isrequired. A change in the hole pattern on the fence rails means leftiescan now shift the set to their preferences. The fit, finish, and use ofa more durable powder coating instead of paint will make a proud ownerof every user--from the beginner who wants to learn with confidence tothe seasoned pro who doesn't have space for a full-size cabinet saw.--Nancy Gleason ... 4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars with Jet Fence - 5 with Xacta II
This was my first Jet purchase.
Runs very good. I never liked the Jet fence though, it seems a little short and I wish it had more support on the outfeed side.
I ended up buying a xacta fence II which is made by HTC. Was like night and day.
This functions almost like a cabinet saw, at least in my dreams with these additions:
I replaced the v-belt with a link belt which made the saw quite and a bit smoother. I also replaced the manufacturer supplied trunion bolts in the saw with the PALS (Precision Alignment System) which allows you to micro adjust your blade's alignment.

Assembly as all my Jet purchases have been a breeze. Until it's time to align the belt and apply tension to the belt. That is the tricky part with a one-man assembly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw
I ordered this saw through Amazon. Assembly and instructions were pretty easy. I used a straight edge (that's used to check
engine blocks & heads) for setting the wings and they are right on. I switched it over to 220, the saw has cut everything I threw at it with like butter. Problem still unresolved, the pivot pin for the miter gauge was missing. Call Jet and since I bought it from Amazon, I have to get parts through Amazon. So far it's been over 2 weeks and still no part. Was going to order the Jet Jointer but after the fence deal I bought it from a local Woodcraft store. Other then that I'm happy with the saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best contractor saw available!
I am a 17 year-old woodworker, and I have had my Jet 10" contractor saw for a little over a year now, and it has performed amazingly. I wanted to get a cabinet saw but I barely had enough money to get a contractor saw. After doing some research i decided on getting a Jet table saw with its nice powder coating paint, and its nicely polished cast iron top. This sawcuts nicely and is pretty quiet, and I love the soundof the saw, especially when the blade break stops the blade. I made a 4'x5' outfeed table, And just recently purchased a 40" Biesemeyer home shop rip fence, and now the saw is just perfect, I can cut a full sheet of plywood all by myself effortlesly. When I first got it I added a power-link belt which dramatically cut down the vibration, One day ill get a cabinet saw, but for noe this saw does the perfect job, good investment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Finest piece of equipment I've seen in a long time.
Once I got the boxes opened and inspected the pieces, I knew the quality had to be there. I took five hours to assemble this saw, taking my time to read and understand all the instructions first. The saw went together without a single hitch. Out of the box the saw was cutting perfectly straight. I readjusted the ripping fence one time to fine tune the cut and I was cutting perfectly. The fence glides along the top of the table with ease. This saw is very quiet when operating. The 10" blade made quick work of the 2x4's and sheets of plywood I ran through the saw. Using the HTC mobile base with the Jet Saw makes it very easy to move around the garage. This is one great saw.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Saw, bad fence.
This is a fine saw, but the fence doesn't stay level to the piece being cut! I've adjusted the fence numerous times, but each time I lock it into place, it veers to the left. I have to press forward on the fence to keep it from moving to the left and I still end up with ripped pieces that are off by 1/8 to 1/16.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's what all the customers wrote about!
Well, indeed it is a very nice saw with very little vibration. I really had doubts about the "nice" reviews thinking they came from Jet salespeople. Setup could be improved. I took longer because I want to do it right the first time, and with the help of my wife, she was able to figure out the ones I got lost on, i.e., Mounting the motor. You go gurl! Can't wait to test it completely, creating everything I can imagine, and ordered to create under the sun. If you are trying to decide between Delta 36-444 or that... DeWalt, you can't go wrong on this table saw. Don't forget to order the HTC Universal Mobile base. It's a dandy. ... Read more

Powermatic 1791227 Model 64 Artisan Left Tilt Table Saw with 30" Accu-Fence System
    Tools & Hardware
    list price: $1,100.00

    Editorial Review

A close look reveals the small touches that make this table saw a quality professional machine. It has a precision-ground cast-iron table with a front-edge bevel to eliminate sharp edges that can damage material. The solid cast-iron extensions expand the saw's work surface. And the unique blade, which tilts to the left (away from the fence) prevents binding and reduces the risk of kickback. Powermatic has also developed its Accu-Fence system with an extra-large cam that securely locks the fence in place for greater holding power--and, consequently, more precise cutting. The fence's particleboard side cheeks are easily replaced if cut up during use (unlike metal fences). A dust shroud and a 4-inch hookup allow the saw to be connected to dust collection equipment. We like that the blade guard adjusts independently on each side and has a standard kickback paw on the back end. Just pulling the safety switch off prevents unauthorized use (but keep an eye on it; it's small and could easily be misplaced).

Although the saw is unquestionably heavy (and consequently sturdy), it is still portable enough to be loaded in the back of a truck for transport to a job site. With well-thought-out features and rugged construction, this model is a solid choice for those needing an entry-level, contractor-grade saw and a premium choice for the craftsperson or home hobbyist looking for both durability and professional features. --Tim Block ... If you're a hobbyist who loves working with wood, the Delta36-560 is worth a look. Powered by a heavy-duty 15 amp motor, this10-inch Delta table saw rips through virtually any weekend projectquickly and accurately. The controls are convenient and easy to use. Afront- and rear-locking steel rip fence self-aligns parallel to theblade to help maintain more accurate cuts. The large aluminum table, steel extension wing, and retractable support extension provide adequatesupport for wider materials. And the thermal motor overload protectionensures safety, shutting the saw down if the motor runs too hot. Whilelacking some of the bells and whistles you'll find on contractor-gradetable saws, the Delta 36-560 is still a solid performer that would makea welcome addition to any home workshop. --Carl Thress ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Run now!
I've had this machine for 3-years.Unless you just want to rip 2x4's for framing, run away from this purchase. The motor is good, but that's only positive bit of news about this saw.

The miter slots are a joke. The included gauge has about 3/16" of slop in them, and no other gauges on the market fit it either. The throat plate stinks too.Forget making a zero-clearance insert, because the table top is so poorly designed that you can only use a steel throat plate.Plan on building sleds for any cross-cutting you want to do.

Don't even get me started on the fence which I bent while bolting a sacrificial fence on it the very first day.

TRUST ME IT'S WORTH READING BEFORE YOU MAKE A EXPENSIVE MISTAKE AND WASTE VALUABLE TIME.IT TELLS WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT FROM DELTA. BEWARE OF OLD SAWS WITH NEW LABELS.THEIR 1 1/2 HP MOTOR IS WEEK AND SHUTS OFF WHILE CUTTING PANELING.YES I SQAURED EVERTHING UP FIRST. 1-0 out of 5 stars Get what you pay for
I bought this saw about 6 weeks ago to replace an ancient Craftsman. I wanted to use it a while before forming an opinion and my opinion is...spend the extra money and buy a real saw.
This saw is basically a toy. It has a plastic housing and that right there should tell you about the quality. The fence is questionable at best, it doesn't stay where you lock it and it and the miter gauge doesn't even come close to fitting the slot. For [what I paid]I wasn't expecting a whole lot but just a little accuracy would've been nice. What a disappointing purchase. I guess in order to get a decent saw you need to spend at least twice the amount of this saw...now I just gotta find someone to buy this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value
I've had this saw for several months and believe it to be an outstanding choice. The fit/finish is excellent and the accuracy is exceptional. Out of the box, the blade was parallel to the slots by a thousanth of an inch. I also have the fence parallel to the blade within 2 thousanths'. The only weaknesses are the xacta fence installation instructions and the free blade. It would be nice if the guard/splitter was quick attach/detach but I guess you can't have everything. You will also want to put a mobile base on this baby cause its heavy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect...
Got my JWTS10 last weekend. The saw runs great and the XACTA II fence system is extremely accurate and easy to use.I didn't have help, so unloading the saw from the back of my van involved tearing open the box and carrying all the pieces to my basement shop.Assembly took about 6 hours, and I am overjoyed with the quality of this saw.

One area that was lacking (at least for me since this is my first non-portable table saw) was the instructions on assembly of the rails and fence guide. They could have used better diagrams and part descriptions.

Overall an excellent saw for the money.I will probably trade out the accessory wood table for a router table.

3-0 out of 5 stars looks like import that has been worked over for better or ?
