'great little companion, but delicate.
I've had this camcorder for about 3 years now and it's been a nice addition. The battery life is fair (roughly an hour), and the picture quality is above average. I say that because it doesn't pick up all the details on pictures that you'd get from say just a digital camera. I like how the flashlight in the front actually does a good job and doesn't light things to a minimal effect. Dark rooms light the heck up once you switch that sucker on. The digital screen shows everything perfectly (for its size that is) and you won't have any trouble making sure you're getting everything or not. The sound is pretty good as well. Even when talking close to the speaker on it, I rarely got fuzz or any other weird effects added to voices. There's also a snapshot feature which isn't excactly innovative, but nice if you'd rather take a quick picture instead of taping something for a few seconds. Keep in mind that when you tape something, even after you see the status change to "REC", a second or two might get cut out. With the snapshot though, you don't get the full image because of a white border around the image. So be careful there.

What's keeping it from 5 stars are three things. One of which might be obvious and I just wasn't aware of it. The cable it came with isn't for use with my eMac. So I don't know if Mac users are just screwed here or what. But it'd be nice if I could find out where to get a cord for it if I can in fact use it with my computer. It was just fine with my PC when I still had it, and there were no problems. Another thing being the lack of a headphone jack. The last con about this product is the same thing everyone here keeps mentioning- the "head clean" message. Why this appears, I don't know. Everything can be taping just fine, and then all of a sudden, the message flashes on the screen. If this does happen, then you can forget about what it is you just taped, because it deletes it for some reason. I've lost a ton of priceless moments thanks to this. And sometimes when I put in a tape, it just won't do anything. Like when I pop in an older one to view something and go to the play mode and hit one of the buttons (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.), nothing happens. It'll just stay on the blue screen until I take the tape out over and over. It's very annoying. But this could be due to the fact that I've used the camera so much. I never got this problem the first 2 years I had it. And yes, I used those cleaning tapes, which worked at first. But now, nothing's helping out much. It's a game of chance half of the time. And now that I think about it, the buttons are delicate. Right now, the stop button is very fidgety, and I can't tell if I activated a button or not unless I watch the screeen. This is most likely due to the number of times the camera's been dropped. Yes, I see that saying that right there may result in the head cleaning messages, but everyone else on here seems to get that message regardless of if their camera(s) has taken a few bumps or not.

In the end though, I liked this camera up until it gave me the stupid messages to clean it. Maybe it's just a production error with the first wave of cameras, maybe not. It's great for beginners though, and a good start to building a nice photo gallery. You can see the quality of some of the pictures at http://photos.yahoo.com/mujaheddin_nagi. Mostly being of myself and things in my home. As you can see, the quality is pretty good, but it could be a little sharper. I look forward to getting another JVC digital camcorder in the future. They're great products.

Great for beginners
This is my first camcorder, and I'm having a ball with it!It's so easy to use, and I love the snapshot feature that allows me to take a snapshot image in the midst of recording, and it even throws in a little shutter click sound for effect!Maybe I'm easy to please, as I have no prior camcorder experience, and therefore no preconceived notions as to performance.But the picture looks great, and the sound is decent.I'm basically just using this for family purposes, and it serves me well!

Image Stabilization is not good enough!!!
Picture quality is good but the image stabilization is very bad. I purchased this camera a week ago and decided to return it and get Canon Optura Pi, since Optura Pi has the optical stabilizer. ... Read more

Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are reunited in this popular 1993 comedy, in which the Odd Couple veterans play John and Max (respectively), a pair of elderly bachelors whose lifelong friendship is based on mutual aggravation and constant bickering. Their competitive natures kick into overdrive when the beautiful Ariel (Ann-Margret) moves into their otherwise snowbound Minnesota neighborhood. She takes a liking to John, but after a lover's spat she also gives Max a chance at romance, and the long-time buddies reach a peak of grumpy rivalry. I HATE FULLSCREEN!
This is a funny and cute movie and I love Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau but what I hate is that the DVD is fullscreen and not widescreen. I would rather have a letterboxed or anomorphoc widesreen DVD! Any chance of a letterboxed or anamorphic widescreen DVD coming out?

Charmed I'm Sure
It's hard to avoid a certain melancholy watching this 1993 Lemmon/Matthau hit these days.All of the film's "old men"--grumpy or otherwise--have died in recent years. Most recently Ossie Davis who played the more aimiable Chuck.And of course, Lemmon and Matthau were preceeded a few years in death by Burgess Meredith, who as Lemmon's crusty father, provided some of the film's biggest laughs.(Don't miss the now-legendary comic outtakes that run over the final credits.)One can't exactly talk about a "GRUMPY OLD MEN curse" or anything.These were all men fairly well advanced in years, but it adds a certain melancholic tinge to to the various death-related gags--of which there are several--in the movie.

But GOM is also, as they say, a "life affirming" movie.Nothing truly original, certainly, but it comes by its laughs and tears about as honestly as any Hollywood film ever does.Lemmon and Matthau could have walked through roles clearly written for them.They riff of each other like they did previously in THE ODD COUPLE movies, and they do so with such finesse that it's hard not to love 'em.And then there's Ann-Margret, looking great, and acting as kooky and as unconventional as she ever did in any 60s era flick.Is it kookiness of a conventional Hollywood sort?Well, yes and no.She's clearly meant to be a breath of fresh air on the frozen Minnesota tundra.And she pullsit off.Her unconventionality is pretty much dream factory standard issue--midnight snowmobile rides and 1 AM drop by visits to a new neighbor are eccentricity writ pretty darn large.But this is Ann-Margret we're talking about.And she imbues her character with genuine warmth and sexiness, so much so that Lemmon's character can only be said to be lapsing into downright idiocy to even think of giving her up for the sake of friendship.

Matthau and Lemmon were great comic actors.GOM is an entertainment, not great filmmaking.But it's good entertainment.And "life affirming" at that.

ODD COUPLE REUNION
GRUMPY OLD MEN is full of so many cliches and scenes we've witnessed for many cinematic years, but it's a fun film anyway.Watching seasoned pros like Jack Lemmon, Burgess Meredith and Walter Matthau do what they do best is always worth the price of admission or purchase.Ann-Margret who is aging wonderfully brings a sense of la dolce vita to these crusty old men's drab lives, and Kevin Pollak and Daryl Hannah add some youthful exuberance as well.Ossie Davis is also fine as a store owner who is the first to accept Margret's invitation to enjoy life to the fullest.With a snowy Minnesota background and some fun scenes, GRUMPY OLD MEN is a delightfully entertaining film, and only serves to remind us of the losses of some of these fine actors. ... Battery Problems
I purchased the Yardman from Handyman on 4/25/01- it was last year's model. Last week the mower would not start and when I took it to the shop, they said the battery was dead and was not under warranty. I am very disappointed and feel that some restitution should be made since this was last year's model and I am sure that battery had been used for demonstrations to customers many times before I purchased it.
I would appreciate your opinion......Thank you.

Not a Work Horse, but okay for lighter work
I've owned an MTD tractor for 8 years. If you are not aware, MTD is a parent company that makes various "brands" including Yardman, Murray, various "hardware store brands" and Cub Cadet.The Cub Cadet brand represents their "high end" line, and not surprisingly, they are quite a bit more expensive.

I would recommend that Yard Man tractors be considered for smaller plots of mowing, as they do require more maintenance and more careful attention to routine inspections.In eight years, I had changed the drive pulley four times, had the carburetor fixed, fiddled with deck adjustments countless times, and replaced numerous cotter pins and washers that rattled off the machine while running.Still, I suppose, eight years of hard use on a two-acre plot, despite such maintenance, was not bad for a low priced tractor.

If you are willing to go an extra [price]to [price], there are two tractors that have big advantages over Yard Man:the Simplicity Regent and the Toro 16-38hxl.The latter is priced at [price]but has a commendable reliability record.On the other hand, if you don't intend to use the Yard Man on more than one acre, and are marginally handy with routine maintenance, then it is probably a good buy in the long run. They have undoubtedly made some improvements since the one I had, and I know of some owners who really like them. Do keep in mind that almost all brands of lawn tractors use Briggs and Stratton engines, so that is not really a purchasing factor (B&S has recently made great strides in developing quiter, more reliable engines). If the free shipping deal is still running, that's an extra incentive, too.

A great machine for the price
I bought my second MTD lawn tractor last year. There may be better machines, but I haven't found one at anywhere near this price. The first one (single cylinder / 38" cut)did 8 years of fairly heavy duty mowingand cart hauling. I had to replace one sealed blade spindle bearing and hadto put tubes in the tires so they would hold air towards the end(not a bigproblem). This machine was sold to a friend who is still using it. The newone is the 17 HP twin Briggs/42" cut(incredibly smoother) and ithandles like a dream. Bigger, more comfortable and tighter turning. Alsolike the "no-scalp" wheels on the mower deck. I have the "7speed-shift on the go" transmission, which I love. You need only usethe forward/reverse lever right in front of you to change direction and canslow down for close trimming by using the "clutch" which actuallyjust changes the ratio of the drive pulley and does not"slip".Big green machines may be better, but I can not justifythe price compared to the performance of the MTD. One thing every competantindividual will want to do is unplug the "ridiculous" reversemowing cutout so one can mow backwards around obstacles. The dealer"cannot" do this by law, but curiously, the law does not requirethe switch, only that it must work when delivered if origionaly installed!I would buy another MTD in a minute! ... Read more

Weber - Well Worth The Extra Bucks
Had the grill for 3 weeks and its been fantastic. 1st, it starts up on the first click every time you use the ignition starter.Next, I have yet to see any flare-ups and there's very little smoke. With the cheaper grills in the neighborhood, I see big flames and thick black smoke billowing from their cooking.And the food really does cook evenly.I've tried hamburgers and turkey burgers, hot dogs, steaks, salmon, and chicken, and they all come out amazing.Peppers cut into strips grill perfectly.This is good, healthy, charcoal free cooking.I always cook on medium - never a need to put the burners on high. Assembly is not complex, but takes time (3 hrs). I can see it taking about half that, but doubt anyone can tighten all the nuts and bolts in 1 hr. When you 1st attach the gas tank, the grill leans over to that side from the tanks weight.The fuel gauge is a [low-cost]part.Regardless, I opened the box around noon and was eating delicious Weber-grilled food late afternoon.

takes getting use to
Not having briquettes for the gas grill takes some getting use to....flavor bars now.....the jury is stillout on, at least in our house.....hope to get use tothem.......the grill is a beautiful piece of "furniture"

Just a Swinging!
I bought this for really cheap and I cant wait until spring when I can use it!I didnt think that I wanted a rope hammock, but the price was right and now that I have it I love it and cant wait to use it outside!

Give it time
It is funny to read these review of people complaining of the hammock sagging.Of course being a cotton hammock, there is some stretch to work out of it.The first time I sat on it, I was on the ground rather quickly.However, unlike the other negative reviews, I simply retied the knots to make it tight again.Magically, the hammock stayed up, some people need to learn patience!I spent most of my summer taking a nap, and reading books on it. I recommend it to everyone.

LCD screen failure
I've had this phone for about four years and it has been great except for one thing. The LCD screen is almost completely useless now. It started losing "lines" of pixels both horizontally and vertically. Now enough are gone that memory dialing and caller id are useless on this phone and I am living in Tierra del Fuego ,when the replacement it's dificult.

LCD Screen Failure
I've had this phone for about two years and it has been great except for one thing. The LCD screen is almost completely useless now. It started losing "lines" of pixels both horizontally and vertically. Now enough are gone that memory dialing and caller id are useless on this phone and I am shopping for a replacement.

I've owned at least 7 cordless phones, one costing more that [$$], and this has been the best. Easy operation, good feel in the hand and on the ear and totally reliable. I wouldn't be replacing the one I've had for nearly three years but I'm losing custody of it in the divorce.I like the phone so much it's the first thing I'm replacing. That's how good it is. ...
