    Editorial Review

What are secateurs anyway? As every horticulturist knows, they're a fancy name for pruning shears. Try this professional pair and you'll never call them plain old pruners again. For one thing, Gardena's German-made precision and ergonomic engineering feel good to the grip. The upper blade is made from top-quality steel with a nonstick coating that prevents the type of rusting all too frequently found on garden-variety pruners. Moreover, the blade is adjustable for easy replacement, tightening, or loosening--so you have a tool that lasts forever and can be personalized to suit your needs. Add in the integrated sap drain (to whisk away stickiness), cushioned end stop, safety thumb lock, and reinforced bottom blade (for the cleanest cut), and Gardena's literally packed in every feature available to make this the best set of secateurs on the market. Not only will you prune in comfort, but the secateurs' sharp cut ensures that your plants will stay healthy once pruned. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gardena first - found surprise
Love the looks, hope they work as well or better than my Fiskars.I was looking at hand-pruners yesterday, visited this site and actually ordered the 601 [lighter duty] model because it was on sale. Then I cancelled the order because the shipping was costly, wanted to see them first-hand or learn more.Last night while walking the dog, I heard a car drive over something that sounded strange - as if fallen from the sky, low and behold, something better than I wanted, something like a delightful answer to a prayer, Gardena 343 shears, none the worse for wear, a few dings, I look forward to field testing them... I suspect a local landscaper will miss them!

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice tool, but blades are very brittle & break easily
I snapped the end of the blade off this tool within my first hour of use.I was cutting a branch and twisted the shear a bit to try to break the branch off and the blade snapped in two.

While twisting the tool may not be a good practice, I have never broken a blade before on any tool - most of which cost 3.99.The bigger problem is finding replacement blades.None of my local retailers carry them nor, ironically, does Amazon.

I would choose another tool with better, more widely available blades.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pruning Shear 'Painfully' easy to use
As a sufferer of carpal tunnel and trigger flexor in two fingers, I was pleased to see how easy this pruner was to use. Nice and sharp and very efficient, especially pruning rose canes. I know it's a small thing, butthe wrist loop comes in handy. Well-made and light weight is a plus.Bestfeature is the easy removable top blade. ... Read more

The Softouch microtip pruning snip from Fiskars is designed to snip away delicate tips of flowers and foliage while giving you a comfortable grip and fit. This floral snip is about 5 inches long, has a Softouch ergonomic handle with a comfortable black grip around plastic construction, and fits well in small- to medium-size hands. The 1-1/2-inch blade is made of rust-resistant stainless steel. It is quite sharp and uses Fiskars's microtip blade design for precision in trimming and shaping flowers and small plants. The tool can be locked in the closed position with a small plastic latch when not in use. Use this snip for flower and herb gardening, bonsai, houseplant maintenance, and floral arranging. Editorial Review

Wood-handled clippers take the headache out of hedge maintenance, especially when you're facing that 12-foot-long row of dense holly or fast-growing laurel. Sometimes electric shears or gas-operated trimmers are not what you need, so go manual with a durable pair of clippers. The patented gear cutters on these Gardena clippers save you at least 35% effort, and the rubber buffers provide a cushioned end stop. The hardened, wave-ground blades and branch cutter offer a controlled, sharp cut that lets you tackle most home landscape projects with ease. The blades' nonstick coating makes for easy cleaning and protection from rust. You'll be amazed at what you can do with your own two hands. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hedge trimmer
This product performs flawlessly. The ergonomic design and gear system generates tremendous leverage. While I put in minimal effort, the hedge trimmer does the work. I also own a 30385-4 Gardena Hedge Trimmer and endorse that one also.

[Note:My first review was negative, and as follows, but Gardena generaously replaced the defective hedge trimmer:...it was performing wonderfully, but as soon as I tried to clip a small branch with the hedge trimmer, a branch one encounters regularly in hedges, the edge of the blade bent, and now the hedge trimmer can't be used. I will contact Gardena and ask for money back or replacement. Having said that, Gardena products are usually excellent. This one and its counterpart are the exception.] ... Read more

Produced by a leader in the garden tools market, Fiskars's deluxe pruning saw is ideal for removing large limbs. The pruner features a hardened stainless-steel blade designed for durability, and Fiskars's unique tooth design: the teeth are angled to cut with less vibration, and the variable triple-angle teeth "plane" away wood faster than ordinary triple-angle designs. With a quick-release push-button blade lock and a textured handle for a secure grip, the pruner is clearly designed with safety and comfort in mind. Limited lifetime warranty. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Portable, light weight, effective
I purchase a saw to fit in a small toolbox on a small tractor / riding mower. I keep it with me to cut branches that grow low. (You know the kind that hit you in the head when out mowing the grass). Now I stop (hopefully before getting hit with an un-seen branch) and cut off the culprit. Its small enough with a tight enough blade pitch to cut small branches, and large enough to cut branches as large as about 1-3" before you'll want a bow saw or the like. It folds small enough to safely carry in your pocket while also hand carrying a large pruner or other tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars love it
I bought this because I mixed up the brand name of what I was actually looking for, but I found it to be excellent for what I need. It fits in my bucket with all my other garden tools and it's the only saw I have that I can stick in my back pocket. Great product, I would recommend it as a must have item.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one sharp [thing]
I got one of these last year and have pruned many trees with it and it' still sharp as a sonofagun. This is the only pruning saw you need. I've cut through branches 6"+with great results; nice neat and clean cuts. This saw is so excellent I bought another one this year for when I lose the other one. Just be careful and wear loves when using this saw, it's so sharp, I never fail to cut myself every time I use it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Durable pads - horrible straps
Thee pads were great for me this past summer and fall.I used them to lay a cobblestone driveway. They really took a beating and the pads remained unscathed. The straps on the other hand are not so durable and one of the pads is near the end of its usefulness as the strap has almost seperated. To make matters worse, the neoprene does not breathe and your knees and backs of your legs will get sweaty in warm weather. All in all, a solid product that might not stand up to very hard use.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super-durable and Very Comfortable
That about sums it up - these pads work great for any work in the garden or around the house. My only quibble is that you'll get pretty hot underneath the neoprene straps when working outdoors in the Summer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Pads For All Seasons
My wife and I bought a pair of these pads in the Spring of this year. We are carpenters and organic gardeners so we have gone through countless pads in the past: gel types, hard caps, neoprene, latex, etc. All of latter have never met our needs nor fulfilled our expectations.

The Fiskars Kneepads Plus are lightweight and truly do conform to our knees. We work them on hard concrete, slate, marble, rough gravel, and clay soils in total comfort. We are both right-kneed (prosaic license)and have worn out so many Carharts that we could start a second-hand store! Now our jeans last for much longer so these pads can actually save you bucks!

The Fiskars Plus pads also stay up and do not wrap around our knees. The padding causes very little sweating and dries quickly. The elastic and hook-loop fasteners have sagged a bit after so much use but my better half is also a seamstress and has re-sewn them to new condition.

It is a rainy Autumn morning as we now head to the garden to harvest our crops before the frost....Fiskars strapped in place. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Combining Melnor's turbo oscillator and mechanical water timer, this set is great for the new homeowner or gardener who is upgrading. With a two-stage, long-life turbo-drive motor, Melnor's turbo oscillator has adjustable coverage that can vary from 200 to 3,800 square feet (maximum coverage is 58 by 68 feet). Adjusting the range or width is wonderfully easy--simply slide the yellow controls to manage your coverage. The sprinkler has 18 rubber reverse-trumpet nozzles, six of which have positive shutoff. The mechanical water timer, unlike many timers, actually measures time--not water flow. The timer can work with two pressure-drip and soaker hoses, and can be adjusted from 15-minute to 2-hour settings. Limited warranty. ... Read more
