Editorial Review

Strait-Line's awesome Laser Level had, in our book, just one flaw: Its gripping pins left indentations on some surfaces, such as wallpaper, wallboard and pine. Enter the Swivel Base, and Strait-Line has quite possibly the perfect leveling tool. The base attaches simply and quickly, and the two-axis adjustment allows for tuning the laser once the base is mounted. Because of 3M's ingenious Command Adhesive technology, it will stick to any surface and—the best part—come off cleanly. Hang pictures or shelves, wallpaper, wood trim, cabinetry, and leave no damage behind. Strait-Line's patent-pending base swivels a complete 360 degrees to accommodate any conceivable application, The Command Adhesive strips come in replacement packages of 24. If you own Strait-Line's Laser Level, this Swivel Base is truly a must-have.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Rotates 360 degrees with two axis adjustments
  • An accessory to the Strait-Line Laser Level
  • Attaches simply and quickly, and comes off cleanly
  • One strip secures the tool to surfaces like concrete, drywall and glass, without pins or marring
  • Six adhesive strips

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Alright....
I use this accessory on a daily basis. The adhesive tends to loose its holding power after a couple minutes and the level starts falling towards the floor. At least I can hear it beginning to separate and have time to run over and push it back onto the wall or take it down.I was hoping the adhesive strips would hold better, but at least they don't leave any marks on the walls.

Was it worth it?YES.
Buy it again?Yes, because I have no choice.
Satisfied? Not really, but I can't leave holes in my customers walls.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Add-On for the Laser Level!!
This is a great addition to the Laser Level by Strait-line!It just snaps easily on to the laser level, then uses sticky strips to adhere to the wall so you don't have to worry about poking holes in the wall anymore! The stickies are easily replaceable too, you can buy them in packs of 24 (and it takes me a little while to go through 24 of the buggers!).

5-0 out of 5 stars Your wallpaper's new best friend.
If you've enjoyed the new Strait-Line laser as much as I have, you're having too much fun. But of course every time you use the laser, it embeds its tiny little pins into the wall, leaving a couple of tiny holes. If you remember what you paid for that wallpaper, you might just grimace a bit at thinking you've perforated it.
Along comes this little swivel attachment and all of a sudden you can mount your laser level any which way you like with some easily replaceable stick-on strips that won't mar any finish and won't punch tiny holes in your walls. You could say it's a nice touch. ... Read more

If you're looking for a quick, easy and reliable way to carry tools and small parts on the job, the Bucket Boss Super Chute is a good choice. Six large interior compartments will keep your small parts (nails, brads, screws, etc.) organized, while 12 outside pockets allow you to carry just the small tools you need to get the job done. The bag is made of rugged, 600 denier fabric that stands up to the rigors of any work site. It's strung with parachute cord, so it automatically cinches closed when lifted off the ground. And it's designed to stack three or four deep in a five-gallon bucket, for easy transportation. A flat bottom protects against accidental spills and allows the bag to rest comfortably on any work surface, keeping everything handy and safe.--Carl Thress ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars More useful than you'd think
I have a bunch of these bags, as well as the older bags with no external pockets. The older style is a little easier to close, but the new ones are thicker material, so I think they'll last longer. I don't use the exterior pockets (yet?).

My workbench went from a disorganized collection of cardboard boxes to a handful of parachute bags - now I can find hardware faster and get back to work. They also save much time and aggravation when packing my truck and tools for a job - I know I have all my hardware with me.

It's a good product at a great price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super useful
I have a number of the original Bucket Boss chutes, so when I saw this unit with the external pockers- a natural extension of the idea- I picked up a couple at the local home store.

I'm not a builder, but I've worked with crews on my house and done a fair bit of repair and addition of small built-ins. Like anyone who's done this sort of work, I have accumulated large amounts of screws, nails, wirenuts and other hardware in various sizes that I need a handy way to carry. Three or four of these (depending on what's in 'em) will fit in a joint compound bucket and provide an excellent way to organize and carry small parts.

I've got two filled with different sizes of deck screws, one with biscuits for the biscuit joiner, one with wire nuts, cable staples and other electrical items, one with nails and a few more with different screws, nuts, washers, screen door hardware, fuses, and other things I can't even remember. It's a great system.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bucket Boss System really gets the job done
The best way to get into the Bucket Boss Super Chutes is to explain it is part of a system. The super chutes handles the misc parts. The other part of the system is the Bucket Boss 56, which handles the tools. Each one, can also be used to do a little of the other.
Super Chutes is great. I no longer find myself looking for that box of screws, or having to run back out to get things out of the vehicle. Also, if I am low on something, it is immediately apparent. The material, it is made out of, is super durable, and I am sure it will last, for a long, long time. Pick up one or more of these, and a 56 Organizer for your tools. The organization will pay for itself in no time. Get the Boss and watch your productivity zoom! ... Read more

Bosch invented the jig saw, and, with its top-handle models, it's getting close to perfecting it. The 1587AVSK has a nicely shaped handle, tapered where other saws are not, and a nice rubber grip that lets users (of all hand sizes) steer the tool firmly in hand. (Some toolmakers ignore ergonomics, but not Bosch--and we appreciate it.) The safety mechanism works well with the trigger, and the cut is super smooth. We like the variable-speed dial, the light weight, and the foot plate's plastic cover, which ensures that surfaces won't get scratched as they can by saws with metal plates. The blade-change system--if a little tricky at first--works great. No question about it, this jig saw keeps up Bosch's reputation as one of the prime movers in the power tool industry. --Michael Shilling ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saw but...
this is a great saw because it is well balanced and operates very smoothly. The case is very good with metal clasps that are durable, however the built-in storage area inside the case never stays closed so every time I open the case I have to stuff the spare blades back in and close the storage cover. I have had some problems with this saw that include the quick blade change mechanism, it would not release the blade easily and would not tighten all the time. I had to return it and get a new one, I bought it at Lowes so it was easy to return for a new one. Last week I droped the saw and bent the shoe so I need to replace that part but I think I'll upgrade to the Bosch 1590EVSK

4-0 out of 5 stars Great jigsaw but documentation should be better
I graduated from the Sears Craftsman "aren't all jigsaws the same?" mindset when I was blown away by this great saw.I found myself with limited access to tools and needed to build; this saw handled every task beautifully.Thick, thin, rip, crosscut, bevel--smooth, powerful, and accurate. The tool-less blade change is a real luxury.

As a first time user I encountered a few bumps in the road:First, the instructions say to turn the blade change handle counterclockwise 3 turns and insert/twist the blade.Much frustration and repetition and still no luck (is it me or is it the saw?The blade won't budge!).Finally I just kept turning the handle counterclockwise and with 6 turns there was enough laxity in the shank to turn the blade and center it on the guides. Whew. I was off to the races! But it takes me 5 or 6 turns every time (definitely NOT 3). Second, the saw came with a nice assortment of blades (including the Progressors) but they looked nothing like the Sears blades I have used for 20 years. No big deal for the pros among you, but why are the teeth angled up instead of down I wondered? And what is the best use for all these different kinds of blades? No clues in the owner's manual, so I went to the "home center" closest by and looked over the selection of Bosch blades and read all the packages. I can't say I picked up much knowledge as the fronts and backs of given packages were inconsistent in their descriptions, and the descriptions were inconsistently worded between blade types. Hey Bosch, lots of room for improvement here! All the blades that looked like woodcutting blades made great, smooth cuts, so maybe it doesn't matter that much. I uased them on walnut, cherry, andfir. Third, the 90 degree detent has a fair bit of play and takes some tinkering to get the base truly square.Once I got it squared up and tightened down there was no drift despite hours of use--unlike my two Craftsman jigsaws that liked to drift and flex, requiring frequent readjustment and gnashing of teeth (my teeth, that is).

Bottom line for you Sears diehards (excuse the pun): get a real jigsaw a start having fun.If you look around, most HD stores are still stocked from the Christmas special bundle deal: the 1587 plus a free variable speed Bosch 5" orbital sander (which works wonderfully, by the way).

I'll be buying more Bosch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool!!
I own a small home improvement/remodeling company, I use this tool frequently and really like it. It has plenty of power, cuts fast and accurate and is one of my favorite tools. the fit/ finish is excellent and the blade change is super easy once you know how (it takes less than 10 seconds) I highly recommend it. ... Stabila's earned the right to boast, "Always Trust, Never Adjust." They're known for accuracy and dependability. Stabila guarantees that every one of their levels has been electronically calibrated and inspected and has received a certification of accuracy. The vial system, permanently epoxy-locked in the frame by a patented process, is the clearest and easiest to read of any level we've seen. Everything about these levels is quality, from the removable rubber end caps for flush measuring to the big, comfortable hand holds. But what matters most is accuracy, and these are dead-on every time. The vial fluid stays true even in wild temperatures, from -5°F to 165°F. It's German technology that's been in the works for more than a century, and it's paid off with the best for Stabila and its customers.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Bomb
If you can still get this deal. Go for it. I use these levels for everything. I've dropped them and they're fine. If lent them to people I shouldn't have, and they are fine. Just make sure you get an extra set of endcaps. They fall out and get lost every fre years.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I expected and more!
Rock solid construction certified accurate to within .029 degrees. I just got my package delivered to the worksite where I am installing a raised deck for a new bathroom. Within 20 minutes the deck was leveled. Let me tell you, not having to flip a cheap level over and then over again end to end three times to verify accuracy was a huge time saver. Add to that the confidence of knowing without a doubt that what you see is really what you got. I shaved at least 45 minutes to an hour off my morning. Every vial is clearly readable. The box beam construction is machined to an exacting true parallel. I am so happy I forked over the few extra dollars it took to get this set. I plan to replace my torpedo and 24" levels with Stabila's next.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best just got Better
If you have Stabila Levels you know they are the best. This new set from Stabila is even better. This is the new frame design and it has a frame about 1/4" wider than the regular frame. The hand holes are really nice, comfortable in your hand. The end caps are nicer, removable and are rubber. It also has a metal hang hole so you can hang this nice level on a nail rather than lean it against the wall for the painter to kick over.I have this set, and I didn't think Stabila could make a better level than the ones I already have, but this new series is better than the best! ... Editorial Review

Once in a while, we come across a tool that just makes us want to shut down the computer and hit the shop with renewed passion---and this is one of those tools. DeWalt has made such a fine router to begin with, but to package it with the bases you'd find yourself wanting later is a great move. The router itself has a super-smooth variable speed 2-1/4 -orsepower motor with a load range of 8,000 to 24,000 rpm and soft-start for virtually no twist. Kudos to DeWalt for giving this model a flat top and not the scalloped edge we've seen on their models before; this makes bit-changing a much better experience. For table use, the fixed base can't be beat. For freehand use, the D-handle offers unparalleled control and comfort. And of course, the plunge base is essential in any workshop, but we like this one for its integrated in-column dust removal (and it really works). An adjustable turret is great for repetitive work, and this turret's got five positions. We also like the placement of the plunge lock, right where you want it. For novice router-users, this is the perfect purchase; if you've been around the collet a few times, you still can't do better than this.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Includes router motor, D-handle base, fixed base, plunge base, 1/4" and 1/2" one-piece self releasing collets, wrench, sub-base concentricity gauge, vacuum adaptor, large hole sub-base, and kit box
  • 2-1/4 HP (max. motor HP), for smooth routing in toughest hardwoods
  • Quick release motor latches, to change from fixed to plunge base
  • Electronic variable speed from 8,000 to 24,000 rpm
  • Micro-fine depth adjustment ring in 1/64" increments

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this router kit!
All these reviews are right except for the Clown from Anchorage who give it a 1 star because he didn't get his free router bits(can you believe that, I 'am sure he lost them in the snow)But you can't go wrong with this kit.I also just bought the recon.2-1/4 HP VS router for $130 which is brand new without a mark on it and added to the kit and the extra motor fit into the case.So for the price this is the router kit to get and you won't be sorry unless you lose your free bits.

5-0 out of 5 stars An upgrade from PC
I started out with the bar set pretty high, my first real router was a Porter Cable 693 Variable Speed, fixed and plunge base kit. That is a fantastic router, but I wanted a little more power and a pistop grip base.

I went back and forth on getting the new PC 890 series kit, but ultimately, the Dewalt went on sale and I just could not resist. It is tough to imagine for me, but I like this route better than the PC 693, which is practically bullet proof.

The motor is relatively quiet, but everyone should be wearing hearing protection in the shop anyway, so noise shouldn't be a big factor.

One of my favorite features is the soft start. The PC has soft start, but the Dewalt actually has a 1/2 second to a second delay from the time you pull the trigger to when the motor starts spinning. This threw me at first, I am used to hitting the switch, and having the motor start immediately, but I like the delay.Accidentally hit the trigger on the pistol grip base, and if you don't hold it down, it won't fire up.

The base is smoother going over wood that the Bosch pistol grip router I have. The Bosch is going to be a permanent dovetail router going forward.

The single wrench bit change is very nice, easy to use, you just need to position the motor in the base where you can get your finger to it.

I did not receive the chisels that were advertised with the router kit, but a quick email to Tool Crib, and then a call to Dewalt and they were on the way.

Without a doubt, I would suggest that anyone needing a true full use router kit purchase the Dewalt. Why no one else has a fixed, plunge and pistol grip base kit offering is beyond me, but the competition is missing out.

If you need it, buy it, you won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice features
Getting the three bases is great. One for the router table, and then having the plunge and d-handle for hand work is great.

Soft-start makes it easier to control when starting, no more jerking when starting.Variable speed controller another nice feature when working with easily burned woods.

This was the perfect replacement for my DW610.As with most tools, its only as good as the cutting bit/blade/knife.Stay away from the cheapo HSS bits.I stick with carbide tipped, anti-kickback bit with 1/2" shank whenever possible and have always had excellent results. ... Read more

There are lots of options for mounting a benchtop planer, but this is one of the best. While it's predrilled precisely for DeWalt planers, a few seconds with a drill fixes that problem. It's made of rugged, durable, heavy-gauge steel and assembles fairly easily in under an hour. When locked, the unit's rock-stable, but just trip the pedal that engages the wheels and you're moving. It's the perfect stand for the home woodworker because when you're done planing, you can move the unit out of the center of the room and store it against a wall effortlessly.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Mobile Planer stand
This is a very handy stand for many power tools besides the planer. I have a jig saw on one, a small drill press on another. Also find it convenient for the Tormek wet grinder, just the right height. I have several of these carts. Buy two and qualify for the $25 discount offer!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great stand for any planer!
The only criticism I have is the roller wheels (the stationary ones) - They should have been put inboard instead of outboard, not sure why dewalt did this as there is plenty of room inboard for them. That's why they lost 1 star - I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they chose this positioning. Fortunately I can do metal work and will fix this minor design flaw myself. The problem is the wheels snag on everything if you are in a tight space as I am.

This only takes about 20 minutes to put together and all holes fit perfectly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Plane and Simple
In all likelihood the first reaction of someone considering the purchase of the DW735 Planer is going to be that the stand is simply too expensive. And it is dear.I didn't buy this table at first, but used a standing table I had in the shop. The only problem was that moving the planer about in a small shop rapidly becomes a weightlifting exercise. The DW7350 is the heaviest of the portable planers. To solve this DeWalt as brought out this heavy-duty, rigid table that moves easily on its casters.Once you break down and decide to purchase it you are going to wonder why you didn't have it right from the start.Mine came with a midway shelf, which doesn't appear in the picture.Working height is excellent.Assembly is pretty straightforward as well. ... This Porter-Cable 18-gauge, 2-inch brad nailer is a compact, comfortable-to-carry unit that might not offer quite as many extras as other (more expensive) units, but it's very reliable and does its job well. This nailer shoots standard brads from 3/4 to 2 inches long and has an anodized magazine with a reload indicator. The die-cast aluminum body is lightweight but still very strong, and the handle is comfortable to hold, even over long periods of time. The quick-release nosepiece lets you clear jams quickly and easily. Other features include a sequential fire trigger, a safety that's located behind the driver guide for driving brads in tight spaces, an easy-to-adjust depth guide, a directional exhaust port, and a removable rubber nose. The kit comes with a 1/4-inch male coupler with dust cover, a rugged plastic carrying case, oil, and 1,000 brads. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

  • Quick-release nosepiece for fast clearing of jams

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool!
My company owns 2 of these brad nailers and we really like using them. This unit was well thought out even down to the nice compact case it comes in that so nicely holds a full box of brad nails. I say this because I also have a Senco brad nailer FP25XP and the case size is huge in comparison. The BN 200A is a no nonsense brad nailer that works. In comparison with the Senco FP25XP the performance seems comperable with the Senco in "Turbo" mode (switch is on the side of gun). I have no idea what you would do with normal mode as the nails would not set for me. The Porter cable nailer is a little smaller as well but in all fairness is limited to 2" as compared to Senco 2 1/8" brads. This makes no difference to me though since the common size available is 2". At this point my choice for my next purchase would be the Porter Cable BN 200A.
Note: We use these units primarily to install shoe molding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well for this DIYer
I must admit, I have very little experience with nail guns and this is my first one. When I was in the market I was torn between the PC BN200A and a comparable Senco. My boss (who is a general contractor) tried to talk me into the Senco. He states he has had very goodluck with them in the past. Well due to the cost and the reviews of both, I decided to go with the PC. I have no regrets so far. I have done many projects around the home, including all trim in my house. It has not had any problems. The depth gauge works well. The exhaust port can be directed away from your face. It fits into tight places. It is comfortable in my hand. It has not jammed so far and it is fairly inexpensive. Overall, I am pleased with it and would purchase another PC nailer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well, great price, better than Senco FP18
I was looking for a 2" brad nailer to do wood trim and help with furniture building.I wanted an 18 gauge for the tiny hole that it makes and virtually non-existent wood splitting compared to a 15 or 16 gauge nailer.2" is enough to go through the trim and drywall and bite into the wall stud.

I originally bought a Senco FP18 brad nailer based on Senco's reputation and the fact that it went on sale for a great price at the local Menards. However, it did not set brads very deep in the wood - barely 1/32" below the surface, any size nail, any type of wood, at 120 psi.

The Senco went back, and I ordered this Porter Cable from Amazon with the free shipping. Ordered Sunday night, arrived Thursday. This nailer has a very solid feel and does an excellent job setting the brads deeply into any wood, including 2" brads into solid red oak.It works fine off of 90 psi.

I am very happy with this unit, and with Amazon's shipping.I've ordered lots of various things from Amazon and always have great results. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love at First Cut
Always finding them too expensive I had never hoped to buy a compound miter saw. But the apparent quality of a nice looking Delta for $79.00 was hard to pass up, though I knew something was probably wrong and then I would be hooked on the dam thing. Sure enough, the value of a too-cheap to be true saw was revealed in the angle cuts. The machine was obviously Not True, so I returned it and started some more serious looking, this time with a square in my pocket. Measuring shelf displays only gives a rough idea, but it's a start, I.E. I got suspicious of any saw minus a blade or that had a bolted-on display blocking the throat. When I spotted the DeWalt, it was simply the only choice for the money, bang-on accurate just sitting there. The same was true when I set it up, most impressive. It was also one of the few saws that swung beyond 45 degrees each way, I don't know if that will be important someday or not. It is also one of the only saws that has a separate steel plate for the table index, all the others are cut or cast into the base. This will be important someday. So far it's a pleasure to use, and yes, the dust collector is funky and knocks stuff over. All features are exactly as I would want, built in wrench holder, easy access to the blade, excellent finish. It seems lasers are still the new fad, but it also seems unequipped models are becoming less expensive. Maybe a pro could find fault, but the DW703 has my vote.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saw for a great price
This saw does everything it's supposed to do and the price is great. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that dust collection isn't very good, but it's not a huge problem and it's probably no worse than other similar saws. Just be sure to empty the dust collection bag often and it will minimize the problem. I've had this saw for a little over a year and it has always performed very well. I've even been able to cut 4x4 stock with one cut and without any problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the Money
After using this saw heavily for over a year (both for rough construction and woodworking), it's time for an honest review. This saw certainly is a great value, but it helps to know its little quirks, to get the most benefit from it.For general construction and framing, the miter and bevel settings are not too critical, and they were accurate out of the box for me. To cut a 4x4, you only need to manually raise the blade guard and hold it up, to get the workpiece up against the fence for cutting. The supplied blade will cut tons of softwood for framing, and the saw's portability makes it easy to carry anywhere. For woodworking, however, you will probably want to zero the miter and bevel adjustments for best results. The manual recommends using a square to check the blade's angle for the bevel, but you will discover that it's next to impossible to raise the blade guard, hold a square, and adjust the locking nut and bolt, all at the same time. A much better method is to cut a 2x6 and then flip one side upside down, putting the cut end up against the other cut end.If the bevel is not square, there will be a gap at either the top or bottom of the cut sides, and you can adjust the locking nut and bolt to eliminate the gap.In the same way, the miter adjustment can be checked by crosscutting a 2x6, flipping one side, and checking for gaps against the fence, or facing the operator. If you plan to make picture frames, router templates, etc., you can get both the miter and bevel accurate enough to perfectly crosscut an 11" wide workpiece, simply by flipping the workpiece upside down, after cutting one side. But don't expect to do this on the "out of the box" settings!DeWalt should be commended for making such a quality saw at a reasonable price, and whether for construction or woodworking, you will not be disappointed with this one. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Delta listened, Great product
Based on all the poor reviews on shipping damage, I was skeptical to buy. I based my purchase on the fact that all buyers liked it when they got it working. I am glad I did. The unit was well packed and received in excellent shape even with damage to the box. I have had it in my shop for a few weeks now, and there is a noticeable difference in the reduced dust level. I use it at low speed most of the time. It does tend to be noisy at high, but to be expected when moving that much air. Bottom line it is a great product and works well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product / Very minor damage
I just received my DELTA Air Cleaner from Amazon.I was, like many others, nervous about having the product arrive in damaged condition, however I was willing to take the chance based on the >$60.00 savings from buying it locally. To start, the shipping carton seemed to be in good condition.Everything was in place internally, however when I was instructed to remove both filters for removal of some shipping foam, I noticed some slight damage to the corner of the sheet metal which prevented the internal filter from being removed.A quick straightening out with a pair of pliers fixed the problem easily.Literally less than 10 seconds to bend the corner back straight.
The unit fired up perfectly, and looks and sounds great!I'm very pleased with everything, and would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an excellent air cleaner.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Buy
I just bought this unit.It arrived in perfect condition (other reviews I read complained of dents in shipment?), and is now hanging up in my garage. So far, I am quite pleased with the unit.It works as advertised, and the remote control is a big plus. The unit also allows you to program the unit to continue to run after you leave the shop (for up to 4 hours).Only thing I would change/add is velcro for the back of handheld remote (so you could stick it to the wall).I would give this unit 5 stars, but have only had for ~10 days, and am still evaluating it's performance, but so far, very good. ... Editorial Review

You need power, but you don’t want to hoist a ton. Here’s the answer. DeWalt’s revamped 18-volt compact drill/driver delivers on both counts, with a 1/2-inch chuck that grips beefy bits, an 18-position adjustable clutch, and a high-performance motor for the torque you need, packaged in a truly lightweight, comfortable drill. The variable speed has a high and low range for any application, and the reverse switch is right above the curved trigger for easy access. The included charger juices up a spent battery in an hour. We especially like the light weight, even more so because it doesn’t cost in the power department. Lots of pluses: on-board bit storage, two batteries, hard case. We think contractors will be pleased with this drill, especially after a long day.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • 1/2" single sleeve keyless ratcheting chuck for tighter bit grip
  • Compact size: fits into the tightest conditions
  • Lightweight design (5.2 lbs.) minimizes user fatigue
  • High performance motor delivers 450 in.-lbs. of maximum torque
  • Dual speed range: 0-450 / 0-1,500 rpm delivers optimal performance

3-0 out of 5 stars Check you drill for runout
Having done some research, I decided to get this drill - despite the fact that many have experienced chuck wobble or runout with some of these. When I got the drill home and put a bit in it, I was quickly disappointed. The wobble was very very noticeable while running the drill slowly. This is *unacceptable* for a $200 drill.I am done with dewalt - I don't understand why they let these drills out the door.I am returning the drill and getting the Makita comparable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stagnant battery problems?
I'm not sure that my Dewalt drill is the same as this one, however it is an 18v powered drill.I bought it probably 3-1/2 or 4 years ago, and since then I've put approximately 20 or 30 hours of use on it, and when I pulled it out 2 weeks ago, dusted it off, and charged the battery, it ran at about half the speed and power it should have for about 1/8 of the time it should have, or had in the past.Is this due to the lack of use? I know I don't quick charge because of the memory it causes, and I don't store the batteries on a concrete floor or on the ground (I'm not sure if the claims that this kills batteries have any creditibility at all), but the battery charges in about 10 munites, and will run about 30 #6 1-5/8" screws in before in starts to wind down rapidly. Is this due to under use of the batteries? I would appreciate any feedback by E-mail.

5-0 out of 5 stars wouldn't change a thing
I have had Dewalt's 9.6v drill for several years and it has held up well.I used it to put up drywall in several rooms and it worked flawlessly and its light weight was much appreciated. However, for driving longer screws or bigger bits, it lacked the necessary torque. For these jobs, I would get out the corded drill, but this is a hassle especially outside. The 18v Dewalt is a perfect solution with all the necessary torque.I was surprised that it is not much bigger or heavier than the 9.6 v drill with most of the additional weight/bulk in the battery.Battery life is not an issue either since it comes with two batteries and one will charge faster than the other can be drained. However, the convenience and power of the 18v drill comes at a cost.I bought mine reconditioned for about a 35 percent savings and it looked brand new and worked perfectly. But even at the discounted price it is still twice as much as my Dewalt corded drill. So if budget is a concern, stick with a corded drill. It is still the most versatile tool despite its inconvenience. ... Read more

Remember that annoying workplace slogan, "Your parents don't work here--clean up after yourself"? Well, with the Delta 1,200 cfm dust collector, you've got a powerful, well-built machine to keep the shop clean. Built with a 1-1/2-horsepower induction motor for long life and curved steel impellers for durability, this dust collector whisks away debris from tools' dust ports with surprising force, so the only thing collecting particles around the shop might be your old broom resting in the closet. Set on a sturdy caster base for easy mobility, the dust collector stands 88 inches tall and has two intake ports for collecting simultaneously from multiple machines. The large 6-cubic-foot bags will reduce your trips to the trash and filter the air of particles down to 30 microns. For cleaner air, you can always upgrade to 5- or 1-micron bags. This is a great tool for any midsize woodworking shop. --Justin Paul ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just can't see 5 Stars for this thing...
I see most reviewers are very happy with their DC and rate it high... Having owned and used other collectors I find this unit acceptable. Powerful as it may be it does run LOUD.. Don't care what others think... the unit is LOUD..Yes you can talk over it but running a saw the same time is more noise then I expected.... Delta fit and finish is so...so...ie., spot welds rather then full weld.. crappy upper bag hanger, crappy lower bag stand supports... besides that, Delta provides a "grab-bag" of nuts and bolts... You end up short with the nuts and end up extra on the washers and bolts?!My unit is attached to 4" PVC manifold and really works good... but just a little better then my JET 650 CFM did... My wife likes it alot and if she's happy, I'm happy... All and all for the price of the unit I don't think you can do better and Delta is a good company that stands behind their oversea's made products..If it were prefect in EVERY respect then I would give it 5 full stars but it isn't...

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the price
Finally received my Dust Collector, and it was worth all the wait.Really happy that the unit now comes standard with the 1 micron bags.I do plan on upgrading to the 1 micron bagswhen the 5 wears out. Some have mentioned that the dual 1 micron bags allow the machine to breath a little better too. This DC has plenty of power. So far I've used it with my tablesaw, bandsaw and router station with much sucess. This machine is a solid buy, Enjoy your cleaner shop!

3-0 out of 5 stars It was wonderful while it worked
This is a powerful vacuum. I bought mine 2 years ago. Unfortunately, about a month ago, the vacuum sucked in some small oak blocks from the table saw. The oak blocks, about 3/4" square by 3 inches long, slammed against the fins inside, dented the cover and slightly bent the fin wheel. I heard a loud clang and that was all, the unit kept working.

Soon after, I discovered that crash caused the fin blade to go out of balance. Now it is burning through start capacitors within hours. It is so bad that I am giving up on it and buying another vacuum.

I would get another 50-850, because it is a good product for the money. But of course, I'm not happy with the motor and the vulnerable, delicate design. Long-term durability is clearly this product's weakness. And, I'm dissatified with the flimsy structure, which makes the unit hard to move around.

I like my Delta tools but I don't love them. ... Read more

Imagine combining the power of a pneumatic brad nailer with the convenience of a battery-powered unit. The Porter-Cable BN200V12 cordless 18-gauge brad nailer kit offers just that kind of choice. Connect it to an external air compressor, and you have a powerful pneumatic nailer. Or attach the 12-volt battery and let the onboard compressor do the job. Either way, you'll get a reliable brad nailer capable of firing standard 3/4- to 2-inch, 18-gauge brad nails into virtually any wood surface cleanly and accurately. Versatility like this is obviously a huge boon to remodelers who'd like to get in and out of a job without having to haul out a compressor and dirty hoses. (As you would expect, the onboard compressor makes this nailer heavier and somewhat less maneuverable than standard models.) Tool-free depth adjustments are quick and precise. A quick-release nosepiece allows for fast jam clearing, and a removable rubber nose cushion prevents marring on finished surfaces. Built-in auto shutoff, automatic pressure release, and self-diagnostic features provide added convenience. --Carl Thress ... Read more

  • Fires standard 18-gauge brad nails ranging from 3/4- to 2 inches

3-0 out of 5 stars I wish this one would work!
I purchased 2 of these units approx 10 mos ago and really enjoyed using them for the 1st 4 mos. It is a neat idea and saves alot of effort not having to haul a compressor and hose with you on small jobs. However, I began having problems with these units. Both units stopped building air pressure from the built in compressor and then one of them would not fire even when coneccted to external air (a neat option). Both units have now been back to Porter Cable twice to be repaired and one of them keeps coming back from Porter Cable cleaned up and said to be repaired but is non functional. I really like these units and wish Porter Cable could fix the problem but perhaps it's a poor mechanical design.
Note: I primarily use these units to install shoe molding on small jobs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deserves an award for design!
This tool is made in Taiwan, as the other Porter cordless tools are, not in USA which is stated in the Amazon info.

This nailer fired right up & worked flawlessly, and feels lighter than it looks. It is balanced quite nicely, and if you are looking to not have to set up the ole compressor or drag a hose around this tool is great.I also bought the Porter 12V cordless drill instead of another battery, since the drill comes with 2 batteries (that's $110 in batteries included with the $139 drill!) so I now have an extra battery for either tool.

Nice product. Is a shame Porter can't make these in USA too.If Makita can do it why can't Porter & DeWalt?

5-0 out of 5 stars So convenient not having to worry about a huge compressor
This is probably one of the best things to become cordless since the drill. The innovation of the cordless drill makes it now almost unacceptable to have a corded model unless it's for powering through concrete or other hard material. The innovation of this cordless nailer means no electric cord, no stinky power cells, and best of all, no need to worry about a heavy compressor and pneumatic cords.

For me, this is super helpful for finish work on trim and molding around the house and building cabinets.Having to drag the compressor out of the storage closet was why I still used finish nails with regularity...but no more.I should have gotten this earlier along into my home renovations.Yes, it's a bit heavy but it's okay given that I have both battery and external compressor options.Yes, it can shoot only about 200-300 nails, but it's okay given that I don't come close to that amount and the charger is really quick. Most of my time is spent cutting or positioning wood to fit and I doubt I'd ever have everything cut and ready so all I do is nail all day.I've had this nailer for about a month and haven't had any problems at all.

I love this tool.Happy Father's Day to me! ... Read more

Porter-Cable never disappoints, especially with their air tools. Here's a great nailer for the contractor or do-it-yourselfer in the Southeast, Gulf Coast and Western regions with its 22-degree plastic collated round head framing nails from 2 to 3-1/2 inches long. We like the new rounded body style on the nailer, which Porter-Cable says has doubled the tool's life, and we can tell you it feels right in the hand. It's still packing plenty of power, even though it's more compact. As always, we're fond of its tool-free adjustable exhaust, tool-free adjustable depth of drive with detents, and an internal piston catch for consistent power. The triggers can be set to restrictive or contact mode, so you've got complete control over nail release.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars powerful
Been using this one for awhile now.It has power to spare and truly does drive full 3 1/2" nails into anything. No jambs and a snap to use. It's best to not let the loaded nails drop below 3 because the nail clip doesn't work as well at that point and it can misfire. No problem, just load another set before it gets that low.Uses standard 22 degree nails you find anywhere.Easy to handle despite it being a full size stapler and boy this thing is a workhorse.Porter Cable has done a great job with this model.

5-0 out of 5 stars Light, powerful, good price
I bought the FR350A a few months ago, and use it for all my framing needs. I love that it's light (much lighter than many other guns I've used), it's powerful enough to sink framing nails in wet or dry wood and I can still run it on a small compressor. The price is very competitive.

One of the best features of this gun is the selectable trigger. With no tools, in just a few seconds, you can switch from single fire to 'bounce fire'. There's no switching of triggers, you just turn a dial. I never thought I'd use single fire as much as I do.

I have had no problem finding nails for this model.

I have 4 Porter-Cable pneumatic tools, and this one seems to be just as well made and durable as the others.

All in all, it's a well made tool at a very attractive price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Whoa!
Great product. THis was my first PC product and I have been so pleased with it I have purchased a finish nailer, belt sander, palm sander, and router.
I purchased the FR350A mainly to do exterior work on my house and build a finished room in my basement.
I cannot even imagine doing construction without this superb tool.I have not had ANY problems. Just oil and go!

You can buy [less expensive] versions of this clamp...

The plastic wears off and then the metal edges show through. Then the plastic comes off and gets lost. The springs are barely passable when new.Not the Pony.

The plastic does wear off, but not until after a long time of hard use.It use them at the miter saw table all the time.Makes it easier to cope molding when it is clamped to something solid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Necessary Part of Woodworking
I use these clamps all the time. They are the best solution for the following:

1. Holding down boards when plunging a plate joiner (biscuit joiner).

2. Clamping two flat boards together to drill through both ofthem.

3. Holding down a straightedge while marking a long line.

Thegreat thing about these clamps is that they go on and come off in a second,so you can hold wood down, do what you have to do, then turn the wood,re-clamp, turn again, etc. Also, unlike the "vise-style" clamps, they do not damage wood.

4-0 out of 5 stars WHY ME?
I have always used PONY spring clamps because their quality is superior to cheaper models. They have a high quality spring, fine finish and better tip pads that stay on unlike quick-grips yellow tips which come off too easily.HOWEVER loyal PONY users should check out the PONY 3-way spring clamp whichworks as a spring clamp or as an incredibly simple edge-clamp.The 3-wayedging spring also made by PONY, is a superior tool and more tool for yourmoney. ... No assembly is necessary to put this compact, lightweight vacuum to work washing spills and soil out of carpets and upholstery. Using a combination of hot tap water and cleaning solution applied with a finger trigger, the vacuum washes fibers and then sucks up the dirty water and transports it to a second tank. The hose is 5 feet long and the cord 12 feet, and, for storage, the hose wraps around the bottom and the cord around the top. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for stairs and spills
No assembly and ready to go out of box.2 ounce of cleaner and 1/2 gallon hot water to fill the unit through a convenient fill hole.Unit does not have to be disassembled to empty, a convenient drain spout.
After first use, waste water came out black, and an immediate elimination of pet odor in the stairway.
Small size and light weight make it idea for immediate spill clean ups.
Unit is built top heavy with a large handle, this balances the weight when solution is in the unit.
Cord could be longer and retractable.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for homes with messy pets
I originally bought this vac because I had a cat who went a little nuts and started peeing on my bed, and I needed a good way to get the mattress clean. This got rid of all the stains and odors and would have been well worth the money if it had ended there. In fact, I thought this would quickly become a garage sale item after I used it to deal with the initial mess.

But then I moved to a new apartment with wall to wall carpeting and really saw how useful this is. Even simple things like hairballs make me wonder how I would have gotten the mess out without the hoover, and every now and then I get a real challenge and haven't been disappointed yet. A great example is two weeks ago when my dog somehow found a packet of grape jelly, and I woke up to find it spread and dried all over my light grey carpet. With the hoover, the mess was up in a matter of minutes and you'd never know it was there in the first place.

I typically use the special hoover shampoo formula for pets, but the sample they send with the machine works well too (I agree, it is a small bottle). As for the noise, to me it sounds like any other vacuum cleaner and doesn't really bother me, especially since it's usually only on for a minute or two at a time. I haven't had any problems with water spilling or pooling up anywhere, but I also don't use the little filler spigot, just take the whole top off and easy fill that way. I do wish it had a heater unit to keep the water warm, but I knew what I was getting when I ordered it and using hot tap water seems fine. I also like that the cord and hose wrap up neatly around the tank and handle for easy storage. All in all I was hoping this would be a useful investment and already it's exceeded my expectations.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love using it I wish it was bigger..
I bought this Steamvac to clean up my cats spew I found that not only did it remove the vomit but it also removed marks that I thought were wear and tear, the problem here is that because it is made for just spot cleaning that I found myself compulsively having to clean the rest of the carpet spot by spot I just couldn't stop myself. It probably deserves 5 stars but I found cleaning out the machine a bit of a drag, you got to take the lid off pour out the water pick out the bits of hair and stuff from the filter and basically leave it in a prepared state ready for the next time you use it, kind of boring especially when you could be doing something interesting like watching TV or eating. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good blow for your dough
Solid construction, good power and features, and a good price - you can't really go wrong with this unit. The dual fittings and compact footprint come in handy in a small workshop. It is a little on the noisy side (though quieter than some) and has only tripped the 15 amp circuit in my garage twice in the last few months of use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Miracle machine at ordinary compressor price
The specs say 15 Amps at 115 Volts. That gives 15x115=1725 watts. Divide by 745.7 (the number of watts per horsepower, by definition) and the result is about 2.313 horsepower. Apparently this "3 horsepower" machine makes about 0.687 horsepower out of thin air. That'll be great for on-site use at reduced power if no electricity is available. Gotta get one today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, but heavy to move around.
I have been a building contractor in California for over 26 years. This is the fourth compressor that I have bought. I have found it to to be a great value for the money.
Hasn't given us any of the trouble that our old " Emglo " unit did. ( blowing curcuit breakers, stalling, etc. )
My only complaint is its weight. Had I known, I would have purchased the next model up which comes with wheels. Weight is always a concern when moving from job to job. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every cent
This baby is wonderful. I have a trawler with lots of teak and this tool has been invaluable in allowing me to effectively get to hard to reach, tight spots.

5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS
I am frequently disappointed withspecialty tools that are not much more efficient than their old manual counterparts. Not this tool.I am stripping and refinishing every door and window in an 80 year old house.I cannot count the number of coats of paint.I have been using gallons of toxic paint stripper for the difficult to reach parts at $25.00 per gallon.Forget that I am probably poisoning the whole family, this stuff gets expensive. Now, in combination with traditional sanders,
I can stop using the chemicals.

The scraper works really well. With light passes it takes off the paint pretty quickly. With any pressure it gets right down to the wood (use caution or you will go through the wood). The sander works well, and I am looking forward to using the saw attachments.

More often than not, We get what we pay for. This tool is worth the extra few bucks.

Alas, Amazon did not get the purchase, as they could only ship in one to two weeks.I found one elsewhere for the same price, that shipped the day I ordered.

5-0 out of 5 stars must have tool for finish carpenters

2-0 out of 5 stars Size is important
The 4" side fits my 4" quick release well enough. The 2 1/2" side fits the END of a 2 1/2" hose. This does not work well if you intend to go directly from your 2 1/2" port on your machine to your 4" dust collection hose. The adapter and the port will more than likely be the exact same size (two female sides).
The adapter is also not shaped the same as in the picture. It is not funnel shaped but a 2 1/2" tube and a 4" tube connected by a flat piece.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the dewalt table saw
Inially I was upset with this, it didn't fit. Well, my mistake, I didn't see the OD part. Anyway, I found the perfect spot. It fits the 2 1/2 inch port for the Dewalt table saw perfectly. I have now replaced the elbow fitting that came with the saw that for some reason is set to point at the saw leg, making it useless. Now my saw is easy to connect to my 4 inch collection system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fits great!
The description by Robert Feeser (one of the top 500 reviewers in Amazon) explains'This adapter is great for mating the popular 2 1/2" vacuum hose size to your 4" hoses. This 4" is a male end that will fit well into your 4" hose acting
