Editorial Review

This tool’s daddy, the NV45AB, was a fine piece of machinery, but Hitachi took it back to the drawing board and after a few significant improvements, put this NV45AB2 coil roofing nailer on the market, where it collected awards and praise from all corners. Deserved, we think. The best change is the new side-load magazine, so reloading is a breeze. And there’s no more fiddling on the roof because the depth of drive adjustment is tool-free now, too. Hitachi dumped the racket-grip handle in favor of a great rubber grip which is much easier on the user. Rubber pads were incorporated into the metal body protectors, ensuring a firm grip on the shingles without slipping. Hitachi kept the best features of this nailer’s predecessor, too—-things like pneumatic feed and return (most nailers we’ve seen have spring return), which help power the tool through tar and buildup that might otherwise trigger a jam. Tough housing stands up to shingle scrapes, and a carbide-tipped push lever means long life for the tool’s nose. Even at a nice, light 5.2 pounds, this workhorse fires an impressive three nails per second. Roofers will like the changes.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Colorado roof contractor
Although I don't own this newer model, I purchased an almost identical older version several years ago. The only real difference
between the two models is that this "newer" one shoots plastic AND metal head nails. Let me tell you without hesitation this gun is absolutely great. Yes the nails cost a bit more than the hand-driven ones, and it does take using it in a certain way to insure the nails are fully driven, and once in a while you need to fully set the heads with a hammer {as in all other guns}and once in a while you might "lose" a few caps here and there, but using this gun is at least 7-10 times faster than hand driving the plasticap nails. It's alo durable as mine is used constantly. In fact I ordered a secong one last week. Looking forward to using the new one in my flat roof installations. "Don't know what I'd do" if Hitachi ever stopped making the nails for this gun. And there's no camparison between plastic-headed nails holding down felt in winds, and staples. Forget the staples or reguler EG roofing nails. Plastic caps all the way and the felt will survive even 80 MPH winds!

4-0 out of 5 stars very frustrating .... revised
This tool seemed to be a godsend so I went for it. Unfortunately it sounded much better than it is. Like the previous review, my gun hangs up after maybe shooting 10 good caps. After that I have to pull EVERY single cap into place MANUALLY. The instructions are just an add on sheet which don't give you ANY indication if there might be an adjustment to correct the problem. When I'm on a roof trying to beat an incoming rain storm I don't want to hear about bringing it to a service center. I need to take care of things right then and there or lose money!!!
The gun comes with NOTHING, not even the air connect nipple!
This gun is extremely expensive and shouldn't be a source of frustration and monitary loss to me.

Since this review I have spent some time tracking why the gun wouldn't perform as expected. The problem with the hung up caps was/is invariably the flimsy paper roll that holds the caps. If it's just slighly deformed/wavey it hangs up the caps. Now that I am aware of this, I pay attention when reloading and I am actually pretty happy with the gun now. Still hangs up at times, that's why I gave the gun 4 stars now instead or 5.

3-0 out of 5 stars happy but dissappointed
Have a Plasti Tacker Pro and it is great for drying in a roof but have found it to be unreliable. The plastic caps hang up just before dropping into place and jam. Thus driveing a nail without a cap. And sometimes resulting in wasting several plastic caps. It also leaks air at the trigger if held open forrepetitive driving. I did have the O-rings replaced in the trigger valves but it still leaks air just like before. For the last couple of days I have been searching for a web site that provides professional technical advise but I don't speak German and that is the only thing I could find except for the places to buy something, they were in English. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hardiblade is an excellant product
I used a Hardiblade in my Radial Arm saw and another in my circular saw while installing Hardiplank siding on my daughters house. The cuts were straight and clean. This was the first time I have installed cement siding and I was a little apprehensive about cutting and nailing the siding. The blades cut much easier and with much less chipout and dust than the carbide blade I tried at first.

I would reccommend this blade for any cutting of cement siding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Blade
The Hitachi PCD blade surpassed all my expectations. It made crisp, clean cuts that were indistinguishable from the factory edges. The cost of the blade was insignificant compared to the time and money it saved me from changing carbide-tipped blades. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Hitachi C10FCD 10-inch dual bevel compound miter saw is a workhorse on wood. Quick and accurate, this saw makes perfect miter cuts, bevel cuts, and compound cuts in wood, plywood, color board, soft fabric board, hard board, and aluminum sash. A 13 amp, single-phase AC 60 Hz motor delivers 3,800 rpm of no load speed to the carbide-tipped blade, while overload protection keeps the tool from overheating even on the most difficult jobs. Among its features, Hitachi has included a couple that any woodworker will appreciate: namely a soft-start and electronic feedback power control that combine to reduce recoil and help the saw maintain its rpm throughout the cut. The motor housing bevels both right and left of center, for added versatility, while the onboard miter and bevel scales are both accurate and easy to read. Positive stops are provided for the most common miter cuts, and both scales allow the saw to be tightened in place at any angle for better precision cutting. The Hitachi dual bevel compound miter saw attaches securely to any workbench and is light enough (28.7 pounds) to take with you to the job site. Detailed instructions include a multi-page chart of bevel and miter cut settings for virtually any crown molding cut, another definite plus.--Carl Thress ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A waste. Not much of a paper weight either.
Bought this when it came out from a source other than Amazon. This is one of most poorly put together saws it's been my displeasure to use, much less own.
To begin w/ the bevel locking lever and 90 deg. flip stop - when you use them you WILL lose knuckle flesh on these even after you've wrestled the lever around the dust bag.Everything is sloppy as far as the bevel fuction, part of the purpose for buying this saw ya know?Just a really bad set of design flaws. Also, 3 different times I've had a major failure in the table rotating mechanism.Hitachi uses 3 stainless steel "glides"(for lack of the actual part name) as the areas the table rotates against, tese are super thin guage and have tabs that seat them in the main body that the table rotates on.3 times, about 2 wks apart one of hese pieces somehow unseated, got caught, jammed and crushed while in the rotating of the table and in order to free the tool up - of course in the field - it took an uncomfortable, and audibly unpleasant amount of force to dislodge the table from it's position. As a result, the aluminum surfaces on either side were so severly grooved that it would cost more to repair it than to buy another one. This thing I'm describing is easier to see than to describe but because it's the entire other primary fuction of a miter saw, it's just a little important.
Beyond that ... as long as you simply want to cut 90 deg, it's a beautiful unit.Very light, and the start up and accuracy is dead on.JUST DON'T MOVE ANYTHING!
Lastly, the repair service I just recently tried to have fix this thing said that Hitachi lists it as consumer grade. It shows and it's a shame they're marketing this piece of junk at the price it sells for.
Much as I hate to say it, I think the Delta's new dual bevel miter is a better more rugged tool.

3-0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good
I had been comparing Compund Miter Saws for awhile now and debated between the DeWalt 12" Dual Bevel and this Hitachi.I could not justify the additional $180 to go with the 12" DeWalt. What I like about this saw is the soft start feature. This is a must, especially for a light saw (only weighs 33 lbs.).I do not like the fence height at only 1.5", however for what I use it for, I don't think it will be a problem.I was willing to sacrifice this to get the soft start feature. On a side note, the extension wings and horizontal vise assemblies are NOT included and are an extra $25 each.I thought they were included since the technical data section and the picture displayed through this web site led me to believe this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect
As an avid wood worker I had problems with my 12" dewalt compound Mitre saw and gave it to my Grandfather and began searching for a new one. I'm the type of person that reads a ton of review and recommendations on a product before I purchase a new tool. This is what I chose. It is hands down the most quiet saw I found, which is important to a woodworker with his shop in the basement. The fact that if bevels left and right saves a lot of time. And after checking for square out of the box. I was as close to perftect as any chop saw I've used.5 Stars Hitachi has made another great product! ... Read more

Editorial Review

This new circular saw combines Hitachi's rock-solid construction with a lightweight and ergonomic design. The saw has a powerful and smooth-running 15 amp motor with an electric brake. The motor uses a replaceable carbon brush for long life and easy maintenance. The saw's aluminum-alloy base bevels from 0 to 55 degrees, with positive stops at 0 and 45 degrees. Depth of cut and bevel adjustments are both tool-free operations. The handle has a comfortable nonslip grip, and at only 10.1 pounds, it's hard to find a lighter-weight saw with this much power. Professionals and serious woodworkers who prefer sidewinder-style saws will find this to be among the best of the bunch.--Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
This is an incredible saw for the money - more power, a brake, and cheaper than the old model. It is true that the brake is not as quick as a typical miter saw's.But it does stop in 2 seconds as advertised (manual says < 3 sec. ).That's about 3 times faster than my old Hitachi without a brake.Other brands of circular saws with brakes advertise 2 seconds as well.Another thing I like about the Hitachi is the table is perfectly parallel to the blade. Many other brands I've used are way off. That makes it impossible to make precision cuts using a straight edge for a guide.

The bare aluminum base is a step backward. The old model had a nickel plated base (discontinued in 7 1/4" but still available in 8 1/4").This was a fantastic feature that set Hitachi apart from the crowd.Bare aluminum makes marks and drags on wood making straight cuts much more difficult.Steel glides better but its rarely used except on Skill worm drives and cheap saws.I really didn't need to buy another saw, but the brake is an important safety improvement and now I can save the old nickel plated saw for mark-free cutting of finished goods.I can't understand why Hitachi cut this corner when the saw is priced so far under the competition.I gave it 5 stars anyway because of the price. But I'd rather pay $20 more and get the better base.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw, Great Price
I looked at the Milwaukee, the Porter Cable, and alot of DeWalts before deciding on this one.It was by far the cheapest saw with a brake and a good base, and the quality and durability appear to be at least as good as any of the others. It has every feature I need, and nothing annoying (like Porter Cable's dust duct). It feels like it will last forever, and is a joy to use.I'm glad I got the brake, but it doesn't stop quite as quickly as I'd hoped.Still, it stops alot faster than any without a brake. My only complaint is that not having bought the rip fence when I got the saw, it was impossible to find one locally, so I had to wait to mail order one when I suddenly needed it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value and Excellent Quality for the money...
Short and sweet... Under $100. - Excellent quality with fast Electric brake (every circular saw should be required to have this!), up to 55 degree cutting angle, and a 5-year Hitachi Tool Warranty! Nothing else on the market can touch it... Now, I told you it was Sweet... [wink] ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT
A VERY LIGHT AND EASY TO USE TOOL, OUR COMPANY HAS 6 OF THESE GUNS AND FIND THEM WORTH HAVING. YOU CAN ALSO SHOOT PASLODE FASTNERS IF THE HITACHI NAIL IS HARD TO FIND IN YOUR AREA. THE HITACHI FASTNER DOES WORK BETTER DUE TO THE STRONGER PAPER STRIP.
THE GUN IS LIGHT AND FITS IN TIGHT AREAS, UNLIKE THE PASLODE AND SENCO POSITIVE PLACEMENT GUNS. THE GUN CAN ALSO BE FITTED WITH A SAW HOOK AT THE BACK OF THE MAGAZINE.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cannot find nails!
I called Toolcrib on 12/21 to order and was told they have no info on nails for this tool. How can they expect to sell the gun if they cannot supply bullets? They advised me to call Hitachi for a source. Pls advise me why nails are not on the net or in the Toolcrib catalog.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super time saver
I am a professional carpenter in California, where extensive use of metal framing connectors is standard practice in both commercial and residential construction. This nailer proved to be worth it's cost purely in time savings. When the cost (to a customer) for a carpenter is roughly $70/hour, time IS money. The nail gun drives one nail only when the nail tip is placed in a hole in a connector, making for accurate framing. The reliability of Hitachi tools is well known, so don't worry about that. The only drawbacks are that it will not fire all nails in the nail strip (jamming reducer), and that it doesn't always drive nails full depth into engineered lumber (heavy beams), although this is more likely a function of the compressor. ... Editorial Review

Hitachi doesn't just make televisions and consumer electronics--they're also at the forefront of the power tool world, and their new electronic variable-speedreciprocating saw is a good example of why. Let's start with the grip, which fit well in our hands, instead of being uncomfortably wide like the grips of other recips we've known. The powerful 11 amp motor takes on the densest materials with ease--and, with the saw's unique "swing" action, it cuts faster than saws with more conventional orbital action. Another feature we like on this saw is the blade removal system, a keyless, one-hand blade clamp that's quick and doesn't break your thumb in the process (we wish the blade lodged a little deeper into the clamp, though; it rattled a bit in tougher woods). On the whole, this is a solid saw with an accurate electronic variable-speed apparatus in the trigger. --Michael Shilling ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Powerful but heavy.
I like the power on this saw, but after longer use it does get heavy.Sometimes when installing the blade, you have to plug in and start it to get the blade attachment nob to extend out far enough to get access. Also, the blade seems loose after installing properly but will not fall off. It's just the way it is it seems. After 1+ year now, the power cord seems like it may break shortly due to the way it is bent when stored in the case.If it ever dies, I'll probably buy the milwaulkee.A friend has it and it just feels more comfortable. However, price wise this is a good saw. 3 stars only for the issues encountered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Heavy-duty saw will put others to shame
I am a window & door replacement contractor that uses this saw on an almost daily basis.I puchased mine after having an opportunity to help another contractor cut out a wall for a patio door. After using the saw for 15 minutes, I was sold and purchased one of my own. I have used other brands of saws extensively, but this one will out-cut them all.It is heavy and a bit bulky, but this is a small issue when fast cutting is required.Time is money and this saw will save you both.I have worn out my first saw and am getting ready to order another.I was glad to see that they have a better case and warranty - both weak areas in the older model.Only gripe would be that high repair costs on Hitachi made it a better move to just replace my old saw rather then fix it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome tool!
I have neraly taken apart a house and put it back together with this saw and let me say it is a workhorse. It cut through drywall wood anything.Very easy on the elbow and will take anything you throw at it and very affordable to boot.It has adjustable speed and two cut settings.Highly reccomended. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Nice, but............
I bought the Hitachi mainly based upon price because I don't intend to use this drill on a daily basis. There are some times that only a right-angle drill will do. It is well built and a solid performer but the slide swith is a real bummer! Mostly you will NOT want the drill to run continuously. I whittled away the small catch on the slide (good-bye warranty) and find a much better drilling experience. I now control when the drill runs. But for the switch I would have given it 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hitachi excellence and attention to detail!
First of all, I want to clarify something in another review of this product. The type of switch on this product is for tight space! It is impossible to maintain a firm grip (control) on a power tool and operate a paddle switch at the same time. I have used tools in both construction and automotive all of my working life. For example: the old Snap on air ratchets had a index finger (trigger finger) switch. The other inexpensive tools have a paddle switch that all of us in the business call, knuckle busters! I own both types. With a paddle switch type, if the tool is under load or starts to get away from you, of course you can't just let go of the tool to shut it off! If you hang on, as we all do, your hand and tool can become sandwiched between other material such as 2X4's with nails or screws or sharp metal. I had it happen with a high torque air ratchet, where the tool was under load and pulled my hand into metal radiator, shroud and fan blade, tearing the flesh from my knuckles and the back of my hand. While screaming in pain, I had to contort my body and use my left hand to disconnect the air line from the tool to shut it off, after the damage was already done! This is probably not going to happen in construction but you get my point Why do most high speed grinders and cutters not have these paddle switch's???? Hitachi engineers were really on the ball with this tool design! Once again "one up on the competition"! The best in it's class! I bought this tool for the following reasons: the type of on off switch, speed control dial, reverse and forward, and of course Hitachi's excellent quality and ergonomics. I am delighted with all of my Hitachi tool's, great tool's!

2-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to operate
The switch on this drill is difficult to operate. Myself and two other guys had problems with it. The drill is either locked on or off. If the bit jambs you can not quickly stop the drill or for any matter it is difficult to stop. This is a problem and will probably burn up the motor when it is jambed and attempts to turn. I guess if Hitachi makes a better switch or even a simple trigger it would be a great drill. I am returning mine tomorrow. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very handy...
I bought this gun about a year ago. It's great when you are fastening joist hangers on decks, truss ties, floor truss hangers. Man this kicks too. Careful when you use it cause it can shock your wrist. Makes my framing days alot faster when I am build a new home. It's very light and small enough to get into tight spots. I like how safety works on it. And loading is pretty nice too. This gun is worth having if you frame alot houses or build alot decks. Time it saves is worth the cost. Would buy again.

The NR90AC2 is great. However if you search the Hitachi website you will find amazon sold me, and is still trying to sell, a product which has been out of production for more than a year:

* 'The new NR90AC3 has all great features of the original NR90AC2. Owing to the modification ofthe ANSI standard-101-2002(Portable, Compressed-Air-Actuated, Fastener Driving Tools- Safety Requirements for), the original NR90AC2 model has gone out of production since the 1st of May 2003. To correspond to this, the valve construction was partially changed and the switching device (Change Knob) was added to select the nailer operation between "singleactuation(single sequential actuation)" and "contact actuation". 5-0 out of 5 stars best framing nailer
I am a carpenter, on Long Island where it has become code to use engineered lumber for almost everything. This is one of the only nailers that can sink anail in it every time. It never jams and hardly ever skips a nail. I have owned many differant nail guns, but this seems to be the best on the market.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big Bang for Big Bucks
Over the years Hitachi has developed a reputation as being one of the most solid manufacturers of nail guns in the marketplace, with both innovation and reliability being their apparent focus. This has proven itself to be the case with this NR90AC2 framing nailer. It has been as solid as a rock with no feed problems or double shoots so far in its new life in my hands. It's well balanced though somewhat on the heavier side, but this is a good thing as it absorbes nearly all the recoil and is actually less tiring to use on a long day. This is said to be THE most powerful framer made and will easily make a 16d disappear into a microlamb if so desired. Hitachi's are more expensive up front due to their well known quality and reliability and the fact that they're still made in Japan, but once they finally do need parts due to normal wear then you should expect to pay some bucks - perhaps 3X as much than for a like part for a Senco/Mag/P-C et al - but you'll still come out ahead in the averages (think long term with these Hitachi nailers). It's a shame that Hitachi doesn't offer a choice of a bounce or single trigger or combined selective trigger retrofit free of charge as many other manufacturers are doing since the new safety rules on nailguns took effect, Hitachi service centers want $45+ for any changeover. Speaking of safety: Be aware of your surroundings with these things, know what's on the other side of where you're pointing/firing it, don't EVER have another person in the line of fire even as your crew boss has a "macho" (read: stupid) attitude about such things, always wear high quality safety glasses, and remember that 15,000 (!) people are admitted to the emergency room every year due to nail gun accidents according to a blurb on the evening news in September of '03 when that lady made national news after somehow sinking (well countersunk too) a 16d into her skull and living to tell about it. Many people aren't so lucky... But not to scare anybody off, these nailguns (like all tools) are only as safe as you are, and if you tend to have scars and stitches and bandaids all over your hide then I suggest you get yourself a Senco A9 palm nailer instead. For all others, get this NR90AC2 and pat yourself on the back for making an excellent "you get what you pay for" choice! 5 stars! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL MACHINE
I've had my Hitachi P12RA planer for 8 years and couldn't be happier. Originally, I wanted to buy their F1000A cast iron planer/jointer but discovered Hitachi no longer exports it to the USA. Since the F1000A is SOOOOOOOOOOOO remarkable, I took the chance on this "little brother" and was very pleased- with the planer.

The quality of cut is outstanding, and boards come out dead accurate. In fact, I go to this planer over my 2 year old Jet 15" stationary planer almost every time. The Jet is a workhorse so that should tell ya something! Setup is simple. The knives are really beefy and all the other parts (castings, chains, bearings, adjusting screws) are heavy and well made. I get "slick-as-glass" results even on ebony. Since most of the components are aluminum alloy or stainless steel, I don't even have to fight rust.

Though the jointer is powerful and gives a fantastic finish to the wood, it's just too simplistic. There isn't a way to align the infeed and outfeed tables, which makes getting a flat board almost impossible. They are fixed except to adjust the depth of cut. In fact, holding a straight edge to the length of the jointer bed reveals both tables angle away from the cutterhead. Since I make guitars, this sort of thing drives me bananas. I actually sent the jointer portion back to the dealer for a partial refund.

My advice is to buy the planer portion only. Spent the money for the dust hood too. It's well put together and very effective. This planer has been featured in several books and magazine articles over the years, and for a good reason. You will be amazed with the results!

4-0 out of 5 stars hitachi planer
The jointer bed is too small for this to be the perfect machine. The planer is excellent, but the total length of the infeed and outfeed bed is very shortand makes it difficult to accurately joint long pieces of wood. The first thing that I did after buying this was to buy a 71" powermatic jointer. It is not the most economical way to go.

The exhaust tends to get plugged in both the planer and the jointer with wood chips.

5-0 out of 5 stars Increase the quality of your work
This machine is pure joy. I bought one to replace my Delta which was an O.K. tool. It doesn't hold a candle to this beauty though. No portable even comes close. In fact , most stationary units wish they could perform this nicely. I've never used a planer or a jointer that produces smoother finishes than this machine. Usually in a combo unit you lose to compromises. Not so here . It has plenty of power to do anything you want to. It runs quieter than some of the other portables I've used. The one piece table is something others should copy in their designs.Since the cutter head is stationary ,it doesn't need a lock. Snipe is almost nonexistent. It makes for some of the smoothest surfaces I have ever produced. Even highly figured hardwoods are no problem if you keep your blades sharp. The height adjustment is the smoothest on the market. Many high end woodworking tools come from Japan and this is no exception. If you are willing to pay the little bit more that this tool commands you will be rewarded by years of precision cutting you won't find anywhere else. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, powerful drill
I just got this drill and used it to secure some oak planking on a bridge we are building. The drill had plenty of power to sink 4" lag screws through the 2" thick oak planks (after drilling pilot holes, of course) and into the underlying structure. An older Craftsman drill that another guy had couldn't even get the screws started into the hard oak planks.

The removable side handle is a must in situations where you need a lot of torque.I let someone else try to use this drill and the first time it spun itself right out of their hands. The grip is very comfortable with just a little bit of rubber to help prevent slipping and I really like the two finger trigger. As another reviewer mentioned, the brake works well and the drill stops quickly.Overall an excellent drill, I am very pleased with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Contractor Grade Drill
This is an extremely well built and durable drill, suitable for contractor use. The electric brake on this model is one of the best I have ever used. The overall fit and finish is excellent, and the balance is perfect. The drill comes with a hardshell carrying case that keeps everything together. The ambdextrous screw-on handle is very comfortable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this purchase!
My wife bought me this drill for my birthday and I've been very impressed with it.I've used it to drill large diameter holes and have also used it as a screw gun, it works extremely well in both areas.Everything on the drill seems well made, no small parts to break off.I especially like the 2 fingered trigger and egronomic grip for applying pressure to the bit.

I don't see how anyone could be disppointed with this tool. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice, but...
I bought this stapler new, and I must saw the thing is beautiful to use.I use it for framing so the thing gets a lot of use every day.The only issue I have with it is the magazine for the staples is made of plastic.I did not think it was a big deal until one of my employees let it slide off the roof we were sheating. The magazine broke cleanly in two.The rest of the stapler is very well built, but I think that the magazine should be made of some sort of metal, say magnesium or aluminum. This would make a good stapler, the best stapler in my opinion. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Drill + Bad Marketing = Confusion Reigns!
Although I love my DeWalt cordless drill, sometimes you just want the power and stamina of a corded drill.I looked at the DeWalt and Milwaukee corded drills, but they cost a bit more than I was able to justify spending. So I ended up with this Hitachi, and I am very pleased with it.This tool comes right out of the box looking and feeling like a quality machine. The fit and finish on all of the parts is excellent.Every component, from the cord to the chuck, feels like it is very high quality/professional grade.I still marvel that this drill was as inexpensive as it was.As soon as I got it out of the box I chucked a 1 1/4" spade bit in it and bored some holes in a treated landscaping timber. It went through like butter with very little vibration and the motor never bogged down a bit!

Now here is the confusing part for all of you careful shoppers.I bought the Hitachi D10VF from Lowes for exactly half of the price it is listed for here.I find this amazing since I generally direct people to Amazon for their low prices.Oh and Lowes did not sell me a 'cheap 6 amp look alike' as another reviewer claims can happen. There is a 6 amp model there, but it is NOT the D10VF (which is every bit of 9 amps).

More confusion stems from the fact that the Hitachi D10VF is a single speed drill with a no-load speed of 0-3000 rpms and a one year warranty (this is right from my owners manual). This EXACT drill is listed on Amazon as having variable speed, a no load max speed of 1200 rpms, and a 5 year warranty (click on the 'see more technical details' link on the product page). The best I can figure is that Amazon confused the technical data with the Hitachi D10VG, a different model altogether.I have no idea where they got the five year warranty thing.I cannot imagine what is going on with Amazon incorrectly marketing this drill! If you follow the 'view the product manual' link on the product page it will show you the real info for this drill.

Despite all of the misleading specs and marketing confusion, this is a great drill that can be had at a much better price elsewhere.I would buy this one again in a heartbeat.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful drill, a bit heavy
I found this drill on sale at Loew's for the same price listed on Amazon.com for the D10VH, which was the drill that I was originally looking for.Unlike the D10VH, it comes standard with a keyed chuck, which was a plus for me.

This drill is quite a bit more than I really needed. It's got tremendous torque - you can drill through or screw just about anything down without any problem. It is nose heavy and unless you are a lot stronger than I am, expect to use this drill with two hands always. There is a hole for an attachable handle on this drill.

The speed adjustment for this drill is quite sensitive. At full speed, this drill is not that noisy, an improvement over my old Black and Decker drill.

5-0 out of 5 stars don't buy at lowe's or home stupid
just a word of adivice if you want a good quality tool don't be the guy that buys a 6 amp look alike tool at the home improvement store, the reason the price is lower is because it's not the same tool. this drill is just one example. pay attention, don't be stupid, and buy the real deal the better tool. ...
