A must have item!!!
These are high quality steel blades made by the manufacturer just to fit the Hitachi planer. I have about four sets on hand with my planer. I like to have extra's in case they get dull you can quickly change to a new set. Very pleased with this kit
I was so glad I had this drill during the hurricane season in Fall 2004.The first big test beyond small in house projects.We installed and uninstalled steel hurricane shutters twice and thank God we did, the hurricanes came right through my city.Light weight and well balanced in your hand, never needed recharging during the job (over two hours) and torque control.I had to use the flashlight when we lost power and I had two charged battery packs.Very useful in an emergency.

Holding up to heavy use...
When I first saw this set I was impressed with how much there was for the price and the apparent high quality. But I decided to wait a while before writing the review to see how it performed in service. I recently completed most of the work on a 650-sq-ft addition to the house. The Hitachi started by drilling holes in the pad and setting concrete anchor screws through the sill plate and finished by driving hundreds of drywall screws. I even dropped it once onto concrete with no apparent damage. I now have very high confidence that this will be a long-lived tool as well as a good-looking and pleasant to use one. Highly recommended. (The work light is nice too.)

No installation instructions...
Although these blade guards weren't terribly difficult to install, it bothers me that they are sold and shipped without any instructions, cautions, diagrams, etc.This seems like a huge liability issue the first time someone gets hurt after installing these incorrectly.I recommend against anyone trying to install these unless you are absolutely sure how the work, and preferably have another saw to look at as a guide. ... Torque
If you want a drill with tons of torque, this drill is for you. I'm a big guy (fat) & I can really lean on this drill without stopping, or slowing it down much which is uncommon these days. Look at all the others & I don't think you can find one with more torque without spending alot more.

ok for cutting moderate lengths of molding.
The good points: 1) easy to install.2) Help stabilizes molding 3-4 feet long.3)Does not compromise the portability of the saw.

The bad points: 1) a little pricey for what you get.2) Marginally helpful when cutting a little off a 7-8 foot length of molding.For this you really need a larger add-on fence system.

In my opinion, this device should really be included with the saw as a standard feature.

good buy
I use the Makita grinder of this same size a lot at work, but when I decided to buy my own for use in myshop I bought this Hitachi model.Honestly I only bought the Hitachi because it was cheaper, but now that I've put some miles on it I like it as much or more than the Makita.The Hitachi has a better locking slide power button and feels more powerful.The only negatives are that it is slightly heavier than the Makita and that it sounds a little rough on the shutdown.Oh yes the lock button for changing discs is an excellent idea that works well.If you plan to use the machine as a sander,as I often do, the Makita sanding pad, discs, and lock nut fit this machine. ... not great but pretty good
This thing is a T Rex.It will cut 1/4" steel with relative ease.Cutting does require some effort and like all abrasive saws eats blades but it does a good job and will give a straight cut that looks good and is easy to true up.The saw is heavy so I would not suggest using it in any but a horizontal cut.The blade is easy to change but the blade nut should be attached to the blade washer which would ease installation. ... Amazing Chuck
I recently purchased this 6.8 keyless chuck Hitachi hammer drill locally against the advice of the store owner.The item was so new that he had not had the time to field test the drill which he likes to do before selling to contractors. I had used other Hitachi drills similar to this model and found them to be very ergonomic and well balanced.I've used a Milwaukee 1/2 magnum for the last fifteen years and although it is a tough and dependable drill it has no where near the comfort and smoothness of the Hitachi. The most incredible feature to this hammer drill is the German-made keyless chuck. It is unlike any keyless chuck I have ever seen.It clamps a 1/2 drill bit with the slightest of finger-tip pressure (not hand pressure) and then has a locking ring that easily slides into the lock position.To release the drill bit, you simply slide the lock ring back to the unlock posistion ( a very slight movement) and then with the greatest of finger-tip ease, open the chuck maybe a 1/4 inch turn and the bit pops right out.This chuck works like nothing I've ever seen before.This is PRESICION!EASE!BALANCE!This tool is a winner! ...
