Great design but expensive!
The design of the Mouse sandpaper is fantastic. Each sheet
comes with 2 spare "tips." As the pointy tip of the sandpaper sheet on the mouse wears away much quicker than the body (becauseyou use it to get into detailed areas), you can just replace the tip. This makes each sheet of sandpaper last much much longer.

That's good news because the sheets are expensive! Talk about giving away the razor and selling the blades! The unti comes with 20 sheets of paper, which is nearly $[money] worth! Each sheet is over a $[money]!!!! Given that full sheets of sandpaper cost that much, it's pretty precious.

Of course, you could become good at cutting out your own sheets. The mouse is great, but the company better get better at selling cheaper paper.

Not bad, but think before you buy
For most ordinary household uses, this is a fine drill.It has good power and torque.However, I did have a minor problem.

I found the keyless chuck had difficulties grasping round drill bits.I had tremendous difficulties using a hole saw with this drill.Other round drill bits, such as one used to drill regular holes worked OK, but I still had problems getting the chuck tight enough (it seemed the bigger the bit, the more difficult I had).To be honest, I am not sure if the problem is with the product line or my drill only...

Terrific warranty
I was blown away by the good warranty on this drill (maybe any Black & Decker tool??).I got this same drill 14 months ago as a Christmas present.Something broke inside so I thought "oh no".But I walked into a B&D service center, (there are lots of them throughout the US), WITHOUT a receipt, the guy behind the counter looked at a date stamped on the drill (warranties are for 2 years), went in the back and brought me out a new one!!Case, bits and all!I was out of there in 4 minutes.Amazing.I'll be buying more B&D tools.

Excellent Value!
I ordered this for my husband. He loves it! The 4.5 amp power is more than enough for normal household uses. The main selling feature is the keyless chuck. No need to keep an eye on the "key". Perfect Tool for Tight Places
I had a choice of cutting some trim in a tight spot or removing it entirely to do the cuts. I found this saw and it did the trick. I was able to cut the trim under the eaves without removing each piece. The saw provided plenty of power for this job, so much so, I went ahead and used it to cut some other trim on the saw horse. I recommend getting one of these if you can find it. I got mine at do-it-best lumber.

Great for jobs around the house.
I've bought this machine, because of its light weight and handy size.Biggest suggestion go and get the carbide bit blades.They cut fast and give more power to the unit.The blade that comes with the machine will quit on 3/4" laminated wood, while it still works great on 3/4" pine boards.Get the extra "Gold" power packs, because they last 60% longer. This spool rules !
If you have a Black and Decker strimmer that the TF-065 will fit, then this is the baby for you.
I tried an inferior third party spool but my length snapped and I was left with, what was to all intents and purposes, a spinning top attached to my appliance.Needless to say I took it back and got a replacement.Unfortunately this too broke so I returned it and got a third one.Again this broke so I decided thrice was enough and demanded my money back in full.
I then saw that Amazon sold these official B&D spools at an extremely competitive price and I promptly ordered one.Thanks again for a swift delivery Amazon !

unsafe
I have used this saw twice.I handle the saw with both hands and both times I got my secondary (not trigger hand pinched) by the blade fastener after I turned of the saw (the blade take a while to stop oscillating.I have noticed that the new versions of the saw have a guard to prevent this.

great value
This is a great saw with more power than it's price would sudgest.It eats through whatever I feed it with power to spare.It cuts a straight line and has great visibility because of a built in blower.It does tend to make a mess, but, don't they all?Just have a shop-vac handy.The blade storage compartment is convenient but it somehow manages to gather dust.I got it in a kit with a corded 3/8" drill and 1/3 sheet finishing sander.

Money's worth
I purchased this product at a retail outlet for less than shown here and it came with a nice case and the "quick clamp" blade change system.Compared to the jigsaw that I owned previously, which is now in the yard sale box, this tool is a jewel.The only problem I detect so far is the 45 degree angle cut is only applicable in one direction and you have to be left-handed to cut at that angle.You can't compare this with the one's that cost $150, but for the money you can't beat it! ... The smooth, contoured grip on Black & Decker's Mouse sander/polisher fits snugly in your hand, making this tool remarkably easy to use. Paper cost exceeds Mouse cost after 5 purchases
I wish I'd read the posts warning about the cost of the paper before I bought the Mouse.It's a very useful little tool, and it's easy to think of uses for it. Unfortunately, each use means a trip to the store for paper or pads.The paper is horribly expensive, and it's not feasible to substitute for it.I've used my Mouse on only about a dozen minor projects over the last year but have easily spent 3X the original cost of the unit on paper and pads.

Sander good, paper too expensive and hard to find
This is a useful and well-made sander, but it only uses Black and Decker paper that costs [a lot of money] for 5 sheets (if you can even find the paper - it is here on Amazon.com, but usually is hard to find at a hardware store), making it too expensive to use a lot.Orbital sanders with standard size disks or palm sanders that use 1/4 sheets of regular sandpaper are much more economical - about one tenth the cost.It has performed well the times I used it, but I almost never use it due to the expensive paper (that lasts no longer than other paper - you will use up several sheets on a small project).

The Mouse is the best small sander
The Mouse is a great sander for small use. It is easy to switch diffferent grit paper all u have to do is aline the paper to the mouse and press down. I just got it and boy does it do a great job. I love it. I am 14 years old and it is so easy to use it isn't that noisey either. Left hand grip breaks due to inferior quality part
The metal left hand grip is attached to the handle with a flimsy plastic part that breaks from the vibrations of normal use. Mine broke after about 3 years of infrequent use in the Northeast. I stored the unit in a dark garage, so UV could not have been a factor. They should have named it "Glass Hog" instead of "Grass Hog". The time and effort required to replace the part, plus the cost of the part plus shipping, makes it uneconomic to repair the trimmer. Black & Decker design their products to last for the 2-year warranty period but not much more.

Two in Less thanTwo Years
I've just returned my second B&D string trimmer for the same mechanical problem -- the spool flies off while in use.The grooves holding the spool onto the drive shaft eventually strip.I used this product approximately twice a month during the grass-cutting season (March through October)...not heavy use in my opinion.I can only recommend that you not waste your time on this product.

This is an ingenious tool with some limitations...
I just bought this saw for an incredible price at a day-after-Thanksgiving sale (Menards).In fact, the $19.50 I paid is 1/2 the normal price in the local hardware stores.As for the saw's performance, I have some mixed feelings.

My motivation for buying this saw (other than the incredible price) was to use it with various blades to cut 4" pvc pipe, tree limbs, etc. instead of using handsaws.It does all of this fairly well, but it would perform much better if B&D came out with a wider assortment of blades.At just 3.4 amps, this saw is not overly well powered and thus it should have an assortment of blades available so as to maximize the efficiency of the cutting action.For instance, the wide woodcutting blade has teeth that are fairly fine - which is good for precise cuts in material such as pvc pipe and lumber, but not so good when cutting tree limbs or any other situation where you want an agressive cut.All I got with the saw was a wide woodcutting blade (the blade that is normally pictured in the saw) and a narrow blade to use for cutting metal pipe.In my opinion B&D needs to come up with some more blades!

Having said all of that, I really like the ingenious design of this saw.Although I will probably never have a need to "convert" this saw to its jigsaw configuration - I have much better jigsaws for that - I think that this feature might be handy to the novice weekend warriors out there.

If you can find this saw at a bargain price I recommend it as worth the money!

Good saw
One reviewer mentioned blade removal on the Navigator...well I'm one of those who quickly scans instructions and then go my own way. I got the blade off but couldn't get in back on after numerous tries. I put the Navigator away. A year later a big limb falls in my backyard and I started my usual handsaw log-cutting then remembered the Navigator. Some patience and another instructions-reading rewarded my efforts to reinstall the blade which did turn out to be very easy. Also easy was cutting up that limb in just a few minutes as opposed to a strenuous half hour or so. Recently I had a dishwasher installed which required modifying a cabinet. The carpenter was having a rough time under the sink trying to cut through the cabinet floor so I suggested he try the Navigator. Made quick work of the job and he was impressed with how well it worked. Said he'd have to get one. It has been a good piece of equipment to have around.

Effortless!
I needed a jigsaw to replace a burned out one. I was all set to get a Craftsman when I saw the Navigator. I liked the idea of 2 saws in one and boy am I happy I bought it. I was taking down door moulding and found out I needed to cut back the floor moulding as well. Avoid Buying Any Type Of Drills From Black & Decker
I have not used this drill that much and the cooling fan broke.
You have to buy a new armature to get a new fan. The armature is back ordered and not available from the company. I guess this is a big problem with this model drill. The last 2 Black & Decker drills I owned were junk, this drill was a gift as was the second.I have only purchased 1 Black & Decker for myself and this is why! Avoid anything from Black & Decker unless you want something to throw away in a year.

you get what you pay for...
this thing really smoked a lot when I was mixing thinset with it.I can't knock it for the price, but it won't last very long for what I need it for...you get what you pay for...

Don't like that switch!...
I have bought 3 of these drills to mix my drywall mud, and to put in tapcons once and a wile. On every drill, the forward, and reverse switch would get stuck, and it feels like it's gona break. It seems to be pretty strong, but when I mix a bucket of mud, I can smell it overheating. I won't buy another one untill they fix that switch!... ... Read more
