Water and B&D Scrubbers don't mix
How does one scrub without water?Darned hard, I say.I use the mouse to scrub a working sink, and while it works well and gets stains out, the rubber plate to which the scrubber attaches continuously comes off the tool when wet.The store graciously replaced the entire unit, but it happened again the next time I scrubbed.A little super-glue was all it took for the pad to stay on.Now...why can't they do that at the manufacturer?Otherwise, a powerful little scrubber, if you're willing to put up with peeling corners and such. ... Do-it-yourselfers avoid costly sandpaper
Although the Black and Decker Mouse can be a handy gadget for sanding, the cost of replcement sandpaper will take the finish off any project.Six dollars for five sheets is approx, 10 timesthe cost of replacement paper for orbital sanders.I had to adjust my B and D to accept less costly adhesive backed paper.......buyer beware of expensive accessories. ... Is it a Jigsaw or a Lighter?
I purchased this item quite a few months ago to do some light (ie 1/2" to 3/4" pattern cutting in pine) cutting. It was chosen primarily because of its variable speed, relatively low cost, and the quick release mechanism.

It was adequate when I used it for only a few minutes at a time (though it was relatively unstable due to the vibration), but when I was cutting some 1/2" soft pine for my wife's picture frame, it burst into flames after about 10 minutes of continuous usage.

No, I'm not kidding -- it caught on fire (the housing specifically). Well, fortunately I only encountered 1st degree burns, but this sure angered me. After opening up the item afterwards, the design defects were obvious. Apparently, the bearing datums in the plastic housings were not well designed, leading to overheating and finally a short circuit.

I bought a Milwaukee (6266-22) afterwards. Trust me, spend the extra money if you plan on using this device for more than a few hours in its lifetime. The Milwaukee is a pleasure to use. Or, if you want to skimp on the money just avoid B&D.

Spend a little more for a better Jigsaw
I don't typically have use for a jigsaw, so when a project I was working on required one, I purchased this product mainly because it was cheap.The first one I purchased I had to return because the "Quick Clamp" mechanism was broken.Once I got a working one in use I was disappointed with its performance.Instead of cutting smoothly through wood it has a tendency to jump around, particularly in plywood.It isn't well built either.Several of the high stress points, including the~ "Quick Clamp" are made of cheap plastic.If you are at all serious about your wood working, look elsewhere.If your primary objective is minimizing your costs, then this may be a fit for you.It does work, but leaves som ... Portable but Whimpy
This is a handy tool because you can grab it and go anywhere with it to use on weird/odd projects of very small scale.If you try to use it on anything more substantial, you'll find it is very underpowered and you'll go through a lot of batteries.A rotary tool is supposed to be a high-speed device.This VersaPak unit turns very slowly and bogs down easily.This causes you to use more force than you would use normally which drammatically shortens the bit life, especially the cut-off wheels.On one small project, I gave up and borrowed a friend's powered Dremel drill.Wow!What a difference.I now have two rotary tools:powered and this VersaPak.

You can grind TO the quick instead of slicing INTO it with
a guillotine cutter. I use it and from my experience with it
my vets use it on all their client dogs now too. Cordless

I just bought one and I was quite impressed. Of couse its not going to be able to perform a huge job(no rotary tool will), but it is great for almost everything else.
