5-0 out of 5 stars Good for concrete & steel too
Read the other reviews for this saw's excellent ability to cut wood.As a remodeler, I sometimes have to cut concrete, fiber cement siding, and steel (plate & I-beam).I've used this saw with a segmented rim diamond blade to cut through concrete basements and sidewalks and brick walls using both wet & dry techniques. All the dust, force, and sometimes water involved are extremely abusive to the saw, yet my Bosch worm drive continues to perform well. The wood cutting reviews mention the saw's power, but I think cutting concrete at full depth really tests the power of the saw, and this saw has enough power to get the job done.Compared to a larger diameter diamond saw, a worm drive can't cut as deep, but the cuts are very straight and plumb due to the saw's foot.My saw is all scratched up, but with a little cleaning and lubrication it still makes me happy to use.

It works equally well cutting fiber cement with a diamond tipped fiber cement blade and steel with a carbide tipped steel cutting blade. It actually did a nice job cutting steel I-beams for a difficult roof we recently framed. The beams would have been too large for our cut off saw and we couldn't get them cut at the factory because we needed to verify measurements in the field. It was pretty cool to use the same saw for both wood and steel rafters and ridge sections.

These saws are so durable, you probably can't go wrong buying a used one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Framing Saw
I am an old carpenter that has been using Skil model 77s for the last thirty five years or so.Those old saws never die if you maintain them but they do get beat up.
I just bought a new Bosch for a high end framing job at Lake Tahoe. The body is the same as the old Model 77 Skil.Bosch owns Skil now.The improvements are the solid base plate, a hanging hook and an extra five degrees on the bevel.Compared to my old beat up saws the flat baseplate makes it easier to follow a line and to cutsquare. The baseplate is milled flat on the side so it is much better when using a guide compared to the old stamped base on the model 77 Skil. The Mag 77 Skil is nice too and the baseplate is improved but it only swings to 45 degrees.
When using the bevel on the Bosch, the guard still catches but not as much as the old saw.
Don't believe the post about using this saw for finish work and how wonderfully smooth the cuts are with the 24 tooth blade. This is a serious saw for framing but for finish work you need a miter saw.
I am used to the old 77 Skil so there was no transition for me. The new Bosch is a few pounds lighter but there is still enough weight for a stable feel. The motor has an extra 2 amps over the old model 77.If you are not used to the heft of a worm drive then you may need a little time getting used to the feel of this saw.For framing, the worm drive saw is far superior to a sidewinder especially when ripping.

3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe not the best hand circular saw for fine plywood
Pros:
1) Lots of power.I have used it to cut through a glued up 2 inch thick red oak counter top and it had no problems at all.
2) The blade guard is smooth operating and does not snag.
3) The shoe has a small allen head set screw for setting the shoe perpendicular to blade.
4) The handles are well laid out and feel good in my hands.

Cons:
1) The magnesium saw shoe leaves marks on wood.
2) The saw shoe edge was not parallel to the blade. This is only a problem when following a strait edge. This can burn the wood and create a more ragged cut.
3) The saw shoe connection is not rigid and allows movement. This is more of a problem when the depth is set for thinner materials. The yoke on the saw shoe is oversized and allows the motor housing to slide from side to side on the pivot pin that goes through the motor housing in the front. The clearance between the pivot pin and hole in the motor housing is too much and allows the shoe to wobble. This combination can result in the tip of blade deflecting by about 0.03 inches under some circumstances.
4) When the depth adjustment is set for cutting thin sheet goods (<= 0.75 inches) the saw center of gravity is very high and the shoe is not wide enough to stabilize the saw for long reaching cuts.I would imagine this would be a problem for all saws where the motor axis of rotation is perpendicular to the blade axis of rotation.

To correct some of this saws shortcomings when cutting sheet good with a strait edged I have removed the saw from the shoe and made adjustments to the yoke by compressing it so that it just fits the motor housing.I have made a plastic sub base with an edge that is parallel to the blade.I plunged the saw through this sub base and now have a zero clearance base. This is a little dangerous because the guard cannot be used, but when I am using it I just let the saw come to a complete stop and raise the saw depth adjustment so that the blade is not exposed below the sub base. This zero clearance base is also much larger than the original base so the saw is more stable when reaching across large sheets. It has also allowed me to attach a strait edge tunnel to the saw so that it cannot deviate from my strait edge. This just leaves one problem. The hole in the motor housing that the pivot pin goes through can still allow a small deflection if I am not careful about putting too much pressure on the handles.Maybe I could create handles that are attached to the sub base and put a power trigger on one of those handles.A brass sleeve pressed into the motor housing to decrease the clearance might help also. With these modifications and a 60 tooth carbide tipped blade I can make cuts in hardwood veneered plywood without splintering that look better than the factory edges most of the time. Those time that are not 100% satisfactory only have minor saw mark where I really had to reach or let the saw spin down to reposition myself for the rest of the cut.In some cases those will not matter and in places that do matter I leave a little extra bit of material and go back over the cut with my router.I have a sub base setup on my router so that I don't have to reposition the strait edge to trim off the little bit of extra material.

Editorial Review

An exceptionally smooth start gives you a great first impression, and the more you use this sander, the more impressed you’ll be with its eager 3.3 amp motor and Bosch’s Constant Response circuitry, which maintains constant speed under load. It uses hook-and-loop discs, far more durable than the adhesive kind, and the pad-dampening system helps prevent swirl marks. There’s very little vibration in hand, giving you beautiful control. Adding to that is the ergonomic soft-grip front handle, which is easily detachable for maneuvering into tight spaces. The two-finger trigger is comfortable and smooth, and the lock button engages quickly and easily without contorting your hand. Variable speed adjusts at the turn of the thumb wheel, and the motor handles even abrupt changes like a dream. Bosch’s new Microfilter is a great improvement over the previous cloth dust bags, too.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Years of dependable service
I have owned the 3725 since it was introduced in the mid to late 90's and have been very happy with it's performance and dependability. I am an architectural finish carpenter (collumns, arches, wainscaoting, etc...) and this sander gets heavy use at least 3 days each week. I have replaced the hook and loop pad 4 times and worn out the anti swirl ring years ago (I either start the sander once placed on the material or place the sander on the material where it will be trimed "snipe area"). With the right paper this sander can be used for heavy stock removal as well as final sanding. I constantly use the variable speed option and find myself working the sander one handed. For heavy stock removal or fine balance it's nice to be able to use both hands.

Make no mistake regarding random orbit sanders and think they will perform every job. I use a palm (orbital) sander for easing edges, getting in corners, and sanding round overs.

There are other options out there at about half the price, but experience has shown me they will not perform half of the jobs the 3725 will (stock removal - final sanding).

1-0 out of 5 stars Toooooooooo Muuuuuuuuccccchhhhh Vibration
The sander has a lot of power, but vibration is a problem with this tool.Maybe the handle design transfers the motor vibration.I have have many Bosch tool which I am very happy with but I cannot recomend this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bad Boy of orbitals
I've had this sander a couple of months now. It's excellent for larger jobs, as you can get both hands on the tool, crank up the power and really get some a$$ behind it when needed, yet still sand more delicate items by slowing the speed down. It's size is both good and bad.On the downside, if you are sanding items which require you to hold the item with one hand and the sander with the other it is somewhat difficult with this sander as it is primarily a two handed tool. Also this sander is larger than palm sanders and cannot get in some smaller areas. I've used it sometimes for several hours at a timeand have found it to be comfortable to use. It is adequately powered. The dust collection is better than the other sanders i have, and the big bag fills quickly. My only complaint is that right in the center of the sanding pad is about a 1 inch hole with a small bolt to hold the pad onto the sander. This hole, being so large, makes it impossible to round corners with this sander. Bosch could have improved this easily. (the reason for four instead of five stars) This is a great investment if you do a lot of sanding and need a step above a palm sander, but keep your palm sander handy for rounding corners! ... Editorial Review

Woodworkers who like the smooth, accurate performance of Bosch's jig saws will appreciate this new cordless model. It offers plenty of power for making curved cuts in a variety of materials, and doesn't skimp on usability features. At its heart is a powerful and smooth-running Bosch-built motor and a durable and lightweight magnesium gear housing. The saw has variable speed from 0 to 2,000 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke length, and a maximum capacity of 2-3/4 inches in wood and 5/16 inch in steel. The base bevels 45 degrees and comes with a foot cover to protect finished surfaces. The tool-free blade-changing system is as simple and quick as we've seen, and even ejects used blades with the pull of a lever. There's a soft rubber top-handle grip that can be used in a couple different positions, and the variable-speed trigger has an ambidextrous lock-on switch. With this tool's smooth performance and Bosch-built reliability, we think any one who finds curve cutting and cords a cumbersome combination will appreciate it. This 18-volt model comes with one 2.4 amp hr battery, a one-hour charger, a blade set, and a no-mar overshoe. People looking for more power might consider Bosch's 24-volt model. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Finally retired the Bosch 1 578 1 Jigsaw
I've retired my 25 year old Bosch 1 578 1 jigsaw. This saw has given me excellent service for 25 years, it's only short comings are you need a special srewdriver to change the blade, it doesn't have a cut blower and you have to plug it in. The 52318 addresses all of these. It's a great saw goes anywhere and for me doing pickup work in unfinished house where sometimes the power isn't in that's important. The only thing I didn't like is the funny little wire guard right in front of the blade blocks my veiw of the cut, but a srewdriver popped it right out so everything is fine. Don't know if it will last 25 years but we'll see.

5-0 out of 5 stars first long run cordless
Out of all the cordless tools I own this one does the most on a battery. I own the bosch corded jig and have not used it once
since having this one.

The tool is made tough, the grip and balance is almost perfect.
The blade change system is phenominal. If you break a blade just pull the lever and the hot broken blade spits right out on its own!! The put a new blade in just push it in!!!

The 18v jig cuts anything with the right blade and really you can use it most of the day before the battery dies out.

I would NOT recomend replacing your circular saw with it the battery is not that, good but for jig saw work it is the best
and will impress the hardcore professional.

I must correct a previous reviewer however, the battery is not NMH(nickel metal hydride) it is NCAD, which is the standard battery used by all tool companies. He is growsly mistaken and readers should always double check reviewers statements I find
many mis- informations written by novice tool users on the Amazon tool rewiews.

What is cool is that when bosch puts out a battery upgrade it will work on this tool, I just dont know why you would need it.

Top of the line tool. Bosch is releasing a new corded Jig saw
that is just like this one and I will not evan consider it,
because once you have this you have no need for the cord!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent all rounder - even for hardwood
For the last 9 months I have been searching for a suitable blade for cutting 20mm Hardwood floors, usually Oak or Merbau. I require both a clean, splinter free cut for going across the grain but also a fast cutting blade for cutting along the grain, up to lengths of 2 metres. At last I have found one! The T234X is superb. It gives almost mitre saw quality cuts across the grain and cuts at great speed along the grain. I broke five "regular" Bosch blades this morning, I only used the one progressor this afternoon and it is still going strong. This is the only blade I will buy from now on, I recommend you try it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cut quickly, Cut clean
In my experience, this blade makes a fine, straight, usually splinter-free cut in thick and thin solid wood.I have used it on redwood and pine in various dimensions with great results.I have not personally used it onparticleboard or plywood, but if Bosch says that it will work equally wellon those, I will believe it. Buy a pack and try it for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST Jigsaw Blades Ever Made for Wood!
The title of this review says it all. These blades have a separate set of teeth that cut each side of the kerf. You can actually end up with cuts that don't need sanding! These cut through everything I have tried them onlike butter. They are particularly good on plywood.

I use them in myBosch Jigsaw (see that review, also).I suppose they will fit other brandsthat have a bayonet mount.

Editorial Review

Bosch has combined power and performance to create a plungerouter that's ideally suited for virtually any application. The powerful3-1/2-horsepower Bosch 1619EVS offers variable speeds of 8,000 to 21,000rpm and a soft-start feature that minimizes startup torque. With arouter this big and powerful, it's especially nice to have the motorstart up gradually, as opposed to jumping to life the way other modelsdo. Complementing the powerful motor, the 3-3/4-inch base opening allowsthis router to accept large bits, including raised-panel bits. The1619EVS maintains a constant rpm, too, no matter what knots or gnarls abit encounters, thanks to Bosch's Constant-Response Circuitry. And theconvenient front spindle lock makes changing bits a snap betweenapplications. But perhaps the most unique feature of the 1619EVS is itsexclusive under-table setup system, which lets a user make depthadjustments as easy as 1-2-3. --Carl Thress ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch 1619EVS 3-1/4- Horse power Plunge Router
Im a general contractor and a construction consultant, my men work with tools day in and day out and when it comes to good tools purchasing them is a must, the Bosch name has stood up to everything my crew can give it and it just keeps on running. The router works great and has the power even Tim Allen would take pride in. I don't believe it is for very many homeowners unless you really know what you are doing, but for craftsman its the tool for you. Enough power for the hardest piece of wood along with a shape bit and you have it made.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Router
Superb Router!I have mine in a router table. It handles everything extremely well - from the smallest bit to the largest panel cutter. It is relatively quiet, and never bogs down with the electronic speed control.Soft start is excellent, although I don't use mine out of the table much. The depth settings are easily accomplished, repeatable, and accurate. The speed control is a bit of a stretch under the table, but otherwise I can find no fault with this router. It is one of the best tools in my shop.If you want a powerful router with finess, that does just about everything, this is it.A quality 5-star tool in all respects.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent router
Three years ago I had an impromptu manicure on one finger from a router, and since then I've been more than a bit reluctant to go near another router.

I've been feeling braver recently, and after considerable research I purchased the Bosch 1619 along with a Veritas router table. Virtually all of the 3HP+ routers have more than enough power to do any work so the decision criteria had to be based on something other than sheer power.Important to me was ease of bit changes, runout and quiet(least noise).

I haven't been disappointed, making raised panels in oak and walnut is easy-peasy with the Bosch 1619-Veritas combo. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than Expected
This is a real tool. I expected something kind of dinky, but it is heavy duty. I purchased it to undercut door jambs when installing new floors. It works great. This is the first Bosch tool I own. I have plenty of red and yellow tools. After using this tool I will now consider Bosch when purchasing tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great tool to own!!
I am a home remodeler and this tool now saves me alot of time. I mainly use it when installing ceramic tile or laminate floors to undercut doors and trim. The saw has plenty of power, variable speed works great, blades are easy to change and seem to last a long time. The miter box that it attaches to works really well to cut base and shoe molding as well as other trim pieces,I now own several other bosh tools and cannot say enough about them, buy bosh for the longhaul!!!

One small complaint, I really wish that bosh would make a metal cutting blade!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Installing sinks.
This saw works great for what it's designed for. It was especially helpful when cutting a counter top to install a sink. The edge next to the splash board is usually difficult to cut even with a sabre-saw because of the narrow space between the edge of the sink opening and the splash board. This tool worked great for this type of application. But, keep in mind that all new tools require a small learning curve in order to work the tool effectively and safely. I recommend this tool as a useful addition to any home owners tool box. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Alot of fluff
This part is not really worth it.I was using a Bosch orbital jigsaw that that I got for our pergo kitchen floor.I started out using the inserts, but after a while I just couldn't see the line I needed to cut so I took it off. When I did I really didn't notice a difference with it off.If you use a sharp fine tooth blade you can achieve the same results and see where you are trying to cut. In my opinion this is just alot of fluff.Invest in a bunch of good blades, its worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars They stop splintering, but so does fine tooth blades
I thought that since they were clear plastic, they would do the job, and not get in the way of being able to see the line. Wrong! They fog up with wood dust on the underside, right away, and the line is impossible to see. When I wanted to see where my marks were at the end of the cut, I had to guess.
In terms of getting a straight aim, Bosch put a V groove on the leading edge. If you were making a completely through cut, then the splintering inserts are a good thing to have. But when I tried to see where my cut would stop, it was buried under the insert, and couldn't see my mark. So I guessed. The net result is an inaccurate cut. When I took the insert off, I could make the cut, and come to an exact mark.
The insert blocks the blower from being able to get to the wood, so it is only cleaning off the top. Having used it both ways, it is nowhere near as good as eyeballing the blade.
I know they are inexpensive, so I shouldn't get so excited. The reason why I feel bad is that one came with the jigsaw, and instead of using it, I went ahead and bought a five pack of them.
I used a finer tooth blade, made my cuts into 3/4" oak with the splintering inserts installed. It made a very smooth cut without splintering. I removed the inserts, and used the same finer tooth blade, made my cuts, and it also made a very smooth cut without splintering.
End of story, just use a good finer tooth blade. The Bosch blades are Swiss made, and they are so sharp they are almost scary. They fly through the material, and don't create any splinters, just clean smooth edges.
My advice, put the money toward a new pack of fine tooth blades.

4-0 out of 5 stars Barely 4 stars
I prefer reverse tooth or fine blades when I don't want splinters. Thatway I can keep a close eye on the cut which is harder with these. If youare using a straight edge I suppose they would be more useful. For a trulyclean cut I make a rough cut about 1/8" larger and then use a routerand a straight edge for the final clean up. I would spend my money on goodblades rather than these. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I read these reviews often but had never been moved to write one until now as this is one of the first products that exceeded my expectations.

I had a medium size dry wall project coming up and had heard about these rotary saws but after reading the reviews for them all, I was in doubt: everyone said the DeWalt and Rotozip were loud, messy, difficult to control, and broke bits off often.I like Bosch's products so I decided to take a chance on it.It has been great.I have now finished the project and I can say that all the complaints about the other models do not apply to the Bosch. It is not too loud nor does it send a cloud of dust in one's face. After a couple of cuts it was easy to control and I used the same bit for two weeks without it breaking or seemingly going dull. I have not tried it with real hard surfaces like tile but so far it has been tremendous. It has saved so much time and seems so well made.I liked it so much that I hope this review helps others who are deciding what product to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool
I have used a Rotozip many times and liked it, but when I tried the Bosch 1639K Rotary Saw, i knew it was a Bosch because it is smoother and the controls are better. Bosch is one of my favorite tool makers, I would try anything they make. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very cool tool
my best friend for crown moulding, takes a little work for a math idiot like me to convert the angle degree's over to the corresponding miter saw settings (dewalt) but now I see some of the miter saws coming out with degree settings marked out, so it wouldn't evan take work if you own one of them.

The tool is flaweless and it has a multitude of uses, not only crown moulding, but base casing everything where angle has to be figured out.

I got the case seperately a worthwhile expense, I aslo use it to tune up my table saw and miter saw. My only wish is that they would come out with a smaller version.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is great for measuring short angles, not longer ones
At first when I ordered this, I thought it was for longer pieces of work. It is actually for shorter pieces. This is an add on for the Bosch Digital Protractor. What this extension allows you to do is extend it just a little bit, or as much as you need, not off the end of the leg, but rather BACK OVER THE ELBOW OF THE UNIT, to measure the angle of something that may be only 3 or 4 inches in length. By extending it the short distance, getting the angle, then deducting it from 180 degrees you can get an accurate measurement. The instructions that come with it, show you a picture of someone who is outside, holding the protractor against a wall, and extending the extension backwards across the knee to get the slope measurement of an outside window sill plate.
Anyhow, it is an infrequently used item for your Bosch Digital Protractor, but it does come in handy for the shorter pieces, and for the price it is a worthwhile addition. Hope this was helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice one!
I have had this a week and have found it very useful, both as a short level and to check right-angles on someone else's framework. Allowed me to make precise adjustments so that a circular deck built in four quarters (badly!) ended up being bolted together nicely. A lot cheaper than a digital Stabila level for precise truss angles, for example, if you already own a nice level. One slight complaint - you have to open it up to see the horizontal bubble. ... Editorial Review

Bosch recently introduced routers that they claim have the highest power-to-weight ratio in the industry. We believe them. The 1617EVSB is one member of Bosch's new Magnesium line. This variable-speed router features a stout, 2-1/4-horsepower motor coupled with an all-magnesium base and housing. The result is a well-balanced and smooth-operating machine that offers fast results in demanding applications. We love the nicely finished hard-maple handles that make this router feel like a fine-woodworking tool. Something Bosch engineers are proudest of is what they call the "precision centering system," which makes the router bit track at true center. It's an important feature for multiple-pass applications, like jig cutting, and fine woodworkers will particularly appreciate it.

Ease of height adjustment is a way of measuring quality in routers, and Bosch has come up with a system that works as well as any we've tested. A large flip lever releases the motor for adjusting. Rather than twisting as the height changes, the motor raises and drops in a straight path. The result is a simple and smooth-working course adjust that couples with an efficient microadjust to make fine-tuning the depth of cut easy and accurate. Another feature we like is the reversible motor, which lets the user place the switch and cord on either side. It's good for lefties, and for those of us who get annoyed when the cord always seems to be in the way. The collet is self-releasing, which means there's no need to tap the spindle to change bits, and the collet depth is 13/16 inch, a few 16ths deeper than that of DeWalt or Porter-Cable--one more weapon in the Bosch battle to for a truly centered bit. --Mark McDonald ... 2-0 out of 5 stars okay for drilling
I am a contractor who uses a rotary hammer a few hours per week.I bought the Bosch 1 1/8 inch sdsplus rotohammer about 3 weeks ago, after a reconditioned and used milwaukee unit stopped hammering (after about three weeks).I was pretty happy, at first.
A few days ago, I checked out some of the reviews on here, and grew concerned about the chuck loosening up. Sure enough, when I checked it out, it moved about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch with a 12 inch bit. I took it back.
B.T.W., I contacted Bosch, and they basically said that SDS-Plus hammers aren't designed for much chipping.I do chip alot, so I am probably going to take thier suggestion and get an SDS-Max hammer.I may still get a Bosch.
If you are planning on buying this hammer for drilling, it is probably a great tool (and the case is very well organized). If you plan on doing any chipping besides some very light chipping, I suggest getting an SDS-Max or spline drive. You may be disappointed in any SDS-Plus hammer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Big Bang For The Price
This drill has seen 100's of holes, & keeps going strong. Would highly recomend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for chipping brick
I just completed stripping approximately 5,000 brick off my house (we're rebricking).I looked into renting a tool for this job and I realized I could justify the purchase of my own tool for the amount of work I needed to do.As I wanted a tool that could be used for more than chipping/stripping brick, I began to lean toward the "combination" rotary hammers.I had a tough time finding any reference to their use for stripping brick. After much research, I settled on the Bosch 112326VS mainly because the SDS+ tools are in the middle of the size range (SDS MAX are larger) plus the price was acceptable.I chose the 11236VS over the 11224VSR (7/8" SDS+) simply because I hoped that the slightly bigger tool would be a benefit in chipping. So I'm here to state that I had very good success with the Bosch 11236VS for this purpose.Incidently, I used the 1-1/2" chisel (also by Bosch) which still has plenty of life left. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Close to a Must Have
The Left Side Support extension is everything it is supposed to be.Solid, heavy, a good general fit, and with thoughful design features which make it a 'natural'accessory. Marginally off horizontal at full extension (slightly below table level), I temporarily compensated with (gulp) a 1/4" Duct Tape longitudional strip as a 'shim' on the outer arm top (nice and easy to instal, stays put, and is 'slippery').I'll get around to a better solution with a washer or two on the mount bracket (maybe). I think this Support Extension is just about a must have, and is well enough constructed to be worth the price paid.

Editorial Review

Bosch's Brute Tough line of cordless drill/drivers are designed and built from the inside out to offer the most power and durability possible. At the heart of this drill is a Bosch-built unibody power train that contains the motor, gearbox, and clutch in one contiguous unit for durability and the best alignment possible. The two-speed gearbox has large all-metal gears for strength, and offers a whopping 450 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,300 rpm in high-speed mode. The 14.4-volt motor has built-in overload protection and externally replaceable brushes to help extend its life. The drill also has a steel-reinforced collar to protect it in the event that it's dropped on the chuck. While we don't recommend dropping your tools off one-story buildings, Bosch claims this one can stand the abuse and keep working. The final layer of protection for the drill is its flexible ABS/nylon-blend Duracell housing that protects the insides without cracking or shattering on impact. The drill also features a a strong, reliable grip and a 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck with carbide teeth for one-handed bit changes. This model comes with two batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, a snap hook, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT drill/driver!
I replaced my old drill/driver (a 9 volt B&D that burned up) with this drill.Man alive! This thing has a lot of power. It is also very solidly built and is a sturdy tool. This drill has tackled several jobs that my old drill and several different borrowed drills couldn't handle. I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a new drill/driver!

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
I am a carpenter and I do mostly finish work, I bought this drill about six months ago and it had a strange smell blowing out from the motor when I used it, I thought maybe it was dust in the motor from when it was assembled because nothing seemed to be wrong with it,it worked great nice torque well balanced the only thing I didn't like about it was it has terrible battery life but I did like the drill up until it just stopped working six months later with minimal use and I really never worked it hard when I did use it, I know its under warranty and I can get it fixed, its just inconvenient and this is the second bosch tool that was less than 6 months old that has had problems, I recently bought a bosch rotory tool and the motor smoked the first time I plugged it in, sent it back no problem but again inconvenient, I know bosch makes great tools but either I'm the most unlucky guy on the planet getting two lemons in a row or there's a problem with bosch quality control, on the good side amazon has taken care of any problems with products that don't work out and there customer service is outstanding , I would only buy here at amazon using the internet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best cordless drill/driver I've seen
I've been using two of these (one for screwing, the other for drilling) for a few months, and I think they're about as close as you can get to the most perfect drill/driver.The batteries last almost a full workday with normal use, they have plenty of power but not plenty of weight, and best of all they have a perfect balance and feel. I don't see the point in getting an 18-volt drill when these little guys do everything a contractor could need. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very accurate tool
Just made a large fluted column with the guide, and it worked very well. The tool has a very large adjustable edge guide for stable contact with the wood edge. The micro-adjustment feature worked very well. Rods are lengthy, so cuts can be made a long distance from the wood edge. With the router attached, it is quite top heavy. I place a wood spacer under the rods when at rest, or else the router will tip over if placed upright. Save the box and use for a case, no case is supplied. Material used could be a little more solid, considering the fairly hefty price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Time will tell
At first glance the Bosch RA 1054 looks unwieldy, complicated and maybe even fragile with multiple poles, thumbsrews, springs and a large dial in the rear. But I must admit that after a thorough review of the owners manual and little pre-marking of my project the performace thus far has been pretty good.I used the guide to cut six mortises in solid maple 3x3 stock for a bed project I'm working on.To be honest, I completely skipped the use of the set-up dial by pre-marking all my mortises directly on the stock, then simply lining up the cuts based on the width of the router bit I was using.During use the guide is stable, with a large and stout edge that worked well with the stock I was routing.Smaller stock may present a different complication. The guide was cake to set up in both the plunge and fixed bases of the Bosch 1617pk I was using (which by the way works like a dream - if only I had gotten the variable speed model!).Downsides so far...no carrying case for the guide which I predict will lead to damage ultimately (remember all the poles, springs dials etc...protruding out) and despite the ample space in the case of the 1617pk router, the guide doesn't fit in there either.Additionally, the guide makes placing the router when not in use a real trick.Due to its size the guide tends to pull the router over if left inverted on the workbench, and tips it forward even if place bit side down.My solution so far is to rest the non-guide half of the entire setup on a piece of 1x stock which works pretty well.Time will tell how well the guide ultimately works with small stock, precise setup requiring the setup dials and the durability of the thing. But for now, it's all I was able to find to work with. Folks at Bosh need to take a look at the new Porter Cable guide. That things looks like a steel I beam, seems simple to use, has one-piece design and appears to be quite sturdy. If Bosch doesn't come to the table with one, maybe an aftermarket maker will.A router the quality of the 1617pk deserves to have accessories of the same quality and build.Overall this is an acceptable edge guide that could be sturdier, simpler and come with a carrying case.Good wood working everyone!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Table, Cheap Parts
This is a good router table and very sturdy. Its worked well for me and I would buy it again.I am however not satisfied at all with the way that the mounting plate works. Its hard to align and the cheap plastic set screws that they provide are terrible.Bosch needs to fix two things to make this table really great.Get rig of the cheap plastic set screws, and make the way you align and set the fence easier than having to reach under it all the time to move the knobs. The height is very comfortable and it was easy to set up and build.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great portability, poor precision
I must admit, I didn't buy this from Amazon. I got mine from Woodworker's Warehouse when they were going out of business. If the sale hadn't been final, I would have returned it. The ability to take this table anywhere is wonderful. And if you don't need pinpoint accuracy from the fence on the job-site, then this table is for you. The large work surface is good. After drilling an extra hole, I was able to mount my PC 7518 underneath. The table itself has allt he basic features of any basic table, but the fence is poorly designed and frankly a pain to adjust. I have used it and will continue to use it in the field, but I will not use it in the shop.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shipping problems... TWICE!!
The table actually looks as if it would be great... if it would ever arrive in one piece.Amazon had two tries at shipping this table to me.The first one arrived completely smashed. The box looked as if it had been handled by a clamp truck.I returned it and Amazon was good about shipping another one promptly, but this one too, arrived in unusable, unsalvageable condition. The problem seems to be that Bosch does not package the table with enough protection for shipping and UPS handles it like they are in a Samsonite commercial.I ended up canceling the order.Very disappointing, since I have not seen the table offered at any local dealers. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price
Not worth the price you ask? It's only $11.00.True.Don't waste your $11.00.Instead plug a shop vac into the exhaust port of the table saw.The small exhaust port gets jammed easily and if that happens, forget collecting any dust in the bag.If the exhaust port stays clear, then I'd say I collect about 10% of the dust produced.Especially with MDF.What a mess!!I built a moble stand for the saw and folding stand so I push the whole thing out into the drive way and use it out there because of the mess it makes inside the garage.

The saw is great and I'm very happy with it.I gave it 4 or 5 five stars in my review of the saw itself. But this collection bag is pointless.Save your money and spend it elsewhere.

Until I get my dust collector for all my tools, I use this bag on my DeWalt 2-speed planer where it works great.I empty it frequently, but that's a planer for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bag Works as Expected
This is a simple bag that's about 12" by 30" inches or so with a wire clip that goes around the dust port. It works pretty well in that everything expelled from the dust port goes into the bag, which is emptied by just shaking the sawdust out through the same opening.

All together it catches about 80 percent of the sawdust - about what one would expect. The cloth is a thin synthetic and there is no zipper or velcro to make it easier to empty.

2-0 out of 5 stars Get Three
The 4000K must rank way up there with the world's greatest sawdust dispersing tools. My Dust Collector was tried and failed. It is now gathering dust (pun intended). It is a nice thing to look at and seems to fit OK, but you wouldn't want to depend on it.I can't be certain with actual efficiency rating, but I'd be shocked if you could prove it captured even half the sawdust. Get a REAL dust extractor with enough vacuum to suck the paint off the tablesaw stand, and you will be sure to collect 90% of the saw's by-product. The other 10% will be up your nose unless you wear a paper mask. :-) But real men eat sawdust, don't they? ... Read more

Editorial Review

What sets this sander apart from the ever-growing pack of random orbitals is Bosch’s new Microfilter dust filtration system, which the maker says will trap particles 60 times smaller than a human hair. Eight dust ports on the pad surface extract the material up into the filter, keeping it out of your lungs. The sander itself, a palm model, is relatively lightweight and comfortable in hand, thanks to the ergonomic soft grip, yet the 2.2 amp motor will power rotations from 7,000 to 12,000 RPM with a turn of the speed adjustment dial. The variable speeds offer you a range of applications, from serious stock removal all the way up to fine finishing. Bosch says it’s swirl free, but you’ll still want to use caution when starting up to avoid those swirl marks. It’s inexpensive enough for the home do-it-yourselfer or hobby woodworker to own one, yet we can easily see this in a professional shop with Bosch’s long life and superior quality.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great product,
This ROS is just what I expected, coming from the Cadillac of power tools. Unlike others, I think the dust collection system works great. Quiet, smooth and effective stock removal. Highly recommended (I have used it about 10 hours so far and as you can tell I'm impressed)!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another excellent Bosch for my arsenal
I had several choices on ROS after reading reviews on epinions and amazon. My first choice was the Porter cable (bec. I already have their 340 finish sander) and then the Dewalt, then the Bosch. All having variable speeds as an option. I couldn't decide, but my experience with Bosch's other tools have been great so I took a chance on the 1295DVSK even though there weren't too many reviews on this particular model at the time. Another factor that I was sold on was the "bang for your buck" value. It is around ten dollars lower than the comparable competitor's offerings in my area. It does what it's meant to do very well and the dust collection isn't too bad. I'm comparing this to my Porter Cable that needs the holes punched in the sandpaper to work. I've sanded a variety of materials from fence panels to hardwood floors and cabinetry -of course all with great results with the appropriate grits of paper. Vibration is typical of ROS, but less than my PC 340 finish sander. Overall, another well thought out Bosch tool.

4-0 out of 5 stars No Major Complaints Here
Solid, quiet, seemingly well made. Variable speed is a great feature and I use it more than I expected to.The efficiency of the dust collection is questionable, but I didn't expect much. Without a vaccuum attached, dust collection is commonly more of a concept than a reality. Nice that it comes with a case, though the fit is a bit tight when the cord is coiled up and I spend more time fussing with it than I'd like. That's a pretty minor complaint, though. Overall I love Bosch tools, with the possible exception of my Bosch router (refer to that review for specifics. If you're interested, that is.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Upgrade your fixed based to a plunge router
I purchased the Bosch fixed based router last fall before the combo kit came out.I eventually mounted the fixed base to my home built router table. It is a bit of pain to remove the base from the table when I wanted to use it freehand. Since Bosch created a reat quick release for the router motor I decide toPurchased the plunge unit for portable use.The base also has fine depth adjustment (1/64") marks so you can actually adjust within 1/128th depth. The unit stops are easy to read and adjust. The motor slips in and out easily but can't fall out by accident. When you place the router into the base the bit is dead on center. No worry about bit cuts wandering if the base is running against a fence or pattern as you run your router. The plunge base works smoothly and the lock mechanism is easy to use.

If you have the Bosch EVS router then use your fixed base in your table and buy this to make your unit quickly portable again. ... Read more
