1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Tool I ever Bought
The first time I used the saw I crosscut 2x4 lumber and it stopped working after one cut. The motor doesn't make any noise at all....nothing. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of tools and have never had one fail as fast as this. I have also never purchased a Bosch product before and doubt I ever will again.

5-0 out of 5 stars great saw
I bought this saw about a year ago, I'm a carpenter and use side drive skilsaws every day. The guy's I work with own a few other brands (milwuakee - makita - skil) and they all do what they're supposed to but I'll tell you why the bosh is better than all of them.. Skil: Bosh bought skil, this saw is almost identical to the old skil side-drives but without the finger lever to pull up the blade guard, also the bosh's motor is more powerful. However the now ones from skil, since bosch bought them, are cheaply made and not worth buying.. Makita: the blade guard catches on the work, the aluminum table bends easily, and the dust extraction works poorly shooting sawdust in your eyes when you are trying to see your cut.. Milwuakee: Loud!! to adjust the blade level you move the handle up and down, not pivot it like all the other saws. this is neat engineering and all but it makes the saw really hard to follow a line because the handle is so far above the blade.. now the porter cable i havent tried but it sounds like a good saw. if anyone is in the market for a new sidewinder, I would choose between this bosch and the porter cable..

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch--enough said
This is by far the best circular saw I've used, and I've used them all! It is incredibly powerful, well designed, and easy to handle. Heck of a deal,I love this thing!I have yet to find something I don't like. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Bosch's Compact Tough cordless drills are designed to provide professional power in a compact profile and perform tough jobs in tight spaces and close quarters without compromising durability. Employing a flexible ABS nylon blend, this tool can stand up to the roughest job site conditions. This 12-volt model has a two-speed gearbox that delivers up to 280 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,200 rpm in high-speed mode. There's also a large two-sided fan for cool operation and motor durability and a 16-position clutch for matching the torque to your task. We like the ratcheting chuck that allows for quick, reliable one-handed bit changes and the soft rubber grip Bosch includes on all its cordless tools. This 12-volt model represents a great compromise between power and a lightweight slim profile--offering plenty of torque and speed--and weighs only 4 pounds. This model includes the drill, two 1.4 amp hr batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not made in China
This drill is the best 12V on the market. It is made in Switzerland, and it shows. Its quality is unmatched by any other brand in this price range. If your not going Milwaukee or better, avoid the temptation of buying that Dewalt, and go with the European.

Its got a comfortable grip, solid feel and construction, and is clearly made to handle anything.

Remember, good tools are made to last.Don't buy the Made in China __[insert brand]__ that will end up in the trash in 3 years. This drill will definitely make it for the long haul. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best quick change system...!
Hands down a no brainer on this terrific product from Bosch. I've tried many quick change systems out there...Makita, Dewalt, Hitachi...etc and this is by far THE best. Bit changes are truly a one handed operation with this system. I used to use two drills but with this bit changes are a breeze so no need for a 2nd drill...buy it you will not be dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clic Change - An Awesome Time Saver
For the person that does not have dedicated tools and needs to have the ability to switch between driving and drilling, this is a must. I extensively use an 18V cordless driver and my favorite switch is in between the drill bit and the magnetic tipped extension with a screwdriver bit. This switch alone has saved me uncountable time. Additionally, the mechanism is such that you can do the change with one hand, a plus for when you are bracing or holding something down/up with the other free hand. The picture doesn't show it well, but the case is very durable and holds all accessories very snugly. I highly recommend this as an addition to your current bit or drill sets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch Does It Again
I was beginning to wish I had a second cordless drill. Having to change bits frequently is all the more work. With the Bosch Clic system, you just pop the bit in the holder, pull the head back, it clicks and holds your bit. To change, it is intuitive because as you pull the chuck forward it releases the bit as you pull the bit out, all in one motion. Just like putting the bit in, in one sweep. In goes the bit, and the chuck moves back to the click.
Bosch makes several clic change bit styles that work with the system, including self feeding spade bits.
The interesting thing is that the Ryobi bits fit it perfectly as well. I wound up stocking up at the local home center on other bits.
I was building a large outfeed table for the table saw out of red oak. Having to drill countersinks for the screws, and following with a phillips bit to set the screws, all the while clamping and unclamping the joint, made the clic change system the right tool. Saved all kinds of time, not to mention enlongating the battery life of the drill, not having to run it to change the bit fifty times.
The good thing is that the Bosch clic system works without a snag. No hang ups or binding, just smooth consistent changes. Highly recommended. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Stupid Design, can't flush sand with it. Bosch blew it.
The picture shown for this sander shows a sander able to flush sand to the belt side of the sander. This error caused me to purchase this rediculously designed belt sander. Bosch, I have normally loved their tools. But this makes me feel like never buying another bosch tool again. Instead of redesigning the sander and motor housing for the 3x24 belt, they used the same frame and body with different rollers and platina for the 4" wide sander to save them design costs and changes. So what does this do,, yep, leaves a full one inch over hang of the motor housing over the belt.. How STUPID. you think they could have at least modified it to push the rollers and platina out to the side so it would be flush like the 4 inchers. but no.If you want a tool designed to save Bosch money and with no care as to the end user,, you or me,, then buy this piece of garbage. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars These are scary sharp
The swiss make great knives and jig saw blades! :-) These Bosch blades are swiss made. It is stamped on the side. The instructions tell you to wear gloves when changing blades. I didn't listen, and my finger glanced against the edge, and it created a shaving of my skin. Do I wear gloves when I change bits? No, but I am very careful to grab just the back of the blade.
Blades this sharp make a very clean cut, and will fly through the material. I cut an eight foot piece of MDF with one of these, using a straight waste edge of a sheet of plywood as a guide. It came out so well it looked like a factory cut edge.
Combining these blades with the Bosch jig saw, gives you the best combination in the industry. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw - Just Grab And Go
I bought this saw about nine months ago just for kicks since I already had the 24 volt drill, circular saw, and recip saw. I was more than impressed when I got it. It's lightweight and easy to carry, powerful, accurate, and has a good runtime (I quit counting at 75 2x4's ). I use mine for trimming and it is ideal for this. The saw overall is a good value with 2 batteries and a one hour charger. It won't replace a corded miter saw, but it comes pretty close.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cordless Compound Miter Saw
I consider myself to be an advanced do it your selfer to let you know where I'm coming from.I've always wanted a compound miter saw, and have been putting it off for one reason or another.Recently I purchased a Bosch 24 volt drill/circular saw combo kit, and noticed this miter saw kit.One of the things I liked was that the batteries were interchangeable. It comes with two, plus the two from my kit, this would enable me to have an infinite supply of power.I checked the fence, and table for square, and they were good to go right out of the box, I was in shock.By looking at the manual, if you had to make an adjustment it didn't look that difficult. If anyone has ever set up a table saw, or radial arm saw you can appreciate this.I charged the batteries and immediately put it to work cutting 2" X 6" rafters for a 12' X 18' shed that I'm working on.Please note that you can't cut more than a 15 degree miter on a 2" X 6".I have to tell you that this saw has power. The fact that it is cordless is a non event.Actually it is an event, I was re-trimming out our bedroom.Since I was cordless I didn't interrupt my homes electrical system, and I didn't have to hear my wife complain about me messing up the TV.The trigger, and safety are comfortable to use.The dust collection system works good enough. The settings are accurate, and easy to read. The safety shield doesn't obstruct your view, and works smooth. The motor brake will stop on a dime, and give you nine cents change.I really like this saw, I feel it will meet or exceed all of your expectations. ... Editorial Review

In a world that's constantly changing, one thing seems to stay constant: Bosch tools feel great. Their line of sanders is no exception. Pick up Bosch's random orbit sander and the first thing you notice is this is a power tool that's contoured and tapered to reflect the human hand--which is arguably even more important with a random orbit sander than it is, say, with a more powerful belt sander. The rubber grips are excellent, and the variable-speed dial sits right where your thumb naturally rests. Simply put, the ergonomics are fantastic. And as a consequence, you can use this sander for hours with minimal fatigue--something that was practically unheard of with the random orbit sanders of old. The variable-speed option is handy, as is the hook-and-loop system for quick paper changes. The Bosch sander also won us over with its powerful, all-ball-bearing design (smooth ride) and its adjustable front handle. The handle has a number of settings, allowing each user to optimize his or her different leverage points. But how does it sand? Swirl-free, thanks to the precise eccentric/orbital motion of the sander. The short scoop: it's an excellent tool. --Michael Shilling ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding product.
Needed to do some sanding to get rid of a sloppy wallpaper job from the previous owner of my home. In desperation I got my Bosch detail sander on it and found it worked great but I needed something larger. Off to our local home improvement store where I did in fact "save big money".
Looking on the shelf this and the smaller Bosch unit were the ONLY 2 I could find not made in China. Even the well known "American" names were made in China or wouldn't even claim where they were made. VERY disappointing.
Having been very satisfied with my other Bosch sander I bought this. The first thing I noticed is how smooth and quiet it is. Next the POWER. If I wasn't careful I could have gone right through the wall ;)
My only complaint is it's somewhat heavy and bulky (but then I bought it for the quality).
Bottom line this is an outstanding product and won't disappoint. Perhaps I'll never use it beyond this one project or I'll never use it for what most do but I am impressed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sander with few flaws.
This sander greatly exceeded my expectations on smoothness, aggressiveness, and durability.I am a seasoned woodworker who invested in this product a a PC R/O palm sander for two different applications (the PC is also very smooth, I'm very impressed with it also). I bought the PC for furniture making and finishing, the BOSCH for more general purpose work. For three monthes I used this sander 24-7 to remove many, many layers of old (70yr) house paint.Using 60-grit H&L paper, it made quick work of the stripping task. It was extremely durable (Others and I inadvertantly dropped it at a max height of about five feet). The only problem I had with this tool was that the H&L pad wore-out fairly quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great dustless performance
I own almost every type of sander, due to the fact that we live on our 50' motor yacht, with lots of varnished surfaces inside and out. I started working on the interior ladders (stairs to you land types) and was very concerned with the sanding dust generated by machine sanding. In addition to the other features I am most pleased with the dust removal system of my Bosch 3107dvs. AL Nalven Longboat Key, FL ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Belt failure
The idea is great.I was impressed with the sander, however the quality of the belts has something to be desired.I usually find belt sanders to use the belt to the bitter end (until the grit just plain wears out). However, the 80 grit belts may develop too much heat (my inpression) for the glue used to join the belt together. With this sander i was never able to use the belt to the end, in fact out of 11 belts used 8 of them failed prematurely all spliting right at the joint and as if the glue on the back patch (looks like tape) just seperated from the belt.No tears and the belt itself was in very good conditon.None of the belts lasted as long as usually could be expected the three others also failed but put up a better fight.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bosch Mini-sander belts
This is a situation where you have yo buy a poorly designed product because there is no alternative. Don't get me wrong the sander itself is fast, great for removing old paint from tight places like shutters. But the seam on the belts almost always breaks before the grit even starts to wear out. I suspect the glue is affected by temperature as the plate gets very hot at higher speeds. Only at the lowest speeds does it seem to last. I wish I could buy a sanding sleeve and cut it down, but the Bosch belts are metric. Bosch should obviously redesign their seam , maybe in a zig-zag rather than plain diagonal, and absolutely change to a glue or tape that is unaffected by heat. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice sander, some problems
I bought this sander for refurbishing boats. It works great for stripping off paint and exposing fiberglass, and also for sanding off fairing material. It outperformed all my other sanders, by a huge factor.I was able to sand over 400 sq feet of hull in three days. With other sanders I'd need a crew of men and multiple sanders, and it still would take longer.

I use 60 grit "hook and loop" pad and I duct taped a vacuum cleaner to it.A powerful external vacuum cleaner will make dust negligable. On windy days I can sand without a facemask and only need eye protection.

The variable speed works ok, although I had trouble with it later which may be related to some internal probelms after I serviced it.

It is the best all around sander I've used and out performed palm sanders by a factor or 10:1.I can do ten times the work, with a better final finish.

However, I got less than a year of service out of it.The backing pad started to shake off. When I reattached it, it did not perform as well as previously.I'm unsure if the allen head scre4w should be tight or allowed to float slightly. If left slightly loose it tends to shake itself looser.

Also, I found that at times the power seemed to drop, perhaps due to bad contacts on my extension cords, perhaps low service voltage, or possibly something internal.

The internal dust seal was damaged, the first time the pad started to shake itself off, which increased the amount of dust that could not be collected. After the first time the pad started to shake off, I was unable to make it perform like new.

I tried changing extension cords. Now the power was gone from this unit. Although it sometimes picks up and performs like it did out of the box.

I gave this unit a lot of use, and wish I had another one, but I can't give it top marks because the problems I've encountered.I still rated it a 5 because even if it craps out, it is still worth the money.I wish the manual provided service information to maintain it.

I'm now planning on buy a competing 6" sander of similar design.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'll Never Go Back to a Belt
If I'd had this tool when I finished my first oak floor I could have saved about $150 in rental fees and a number of scars on the floor itself. The sander I rented, a drum sander nearly as big as a lawn mower, was not very maneuverable. It had to move parallel to the grain of the wood. So when I found myself in a kitchen going back and forth a short distance between cabinets, it was almost impossible to reverse course without leaving a scar shaped like the mark a paint roller leaves if you just touch it to a surface.

In all the time I've used this random orbit sander it's never left a scar of any kind. The big drum couldn't come closer than a foot from the cabinets. This little unit even gets a couple inches under the toe kick. With a 60 grit paper it will take down an eighth inch difference between planks in a few seconds. Sure, you have to crouch down on one knee, but you avoid the risk of hernia and pulled muscles that you run when load the massive drum sander into your car.

The random orbit technology is an advance comparable to the ball point over the fountain pen, or the laser level over the line level. There may be other brands or models that are even better than this one, but I have no complaints. The motor is smooth and powerful, but comfortable to use for extended periods with one or two handles. And your hand doesn't vibrate for half an hour after you've stopped as it does with some palm or belt sanders. Another advantage over a belt sander is that it won't devour shirttails or shoelaces or, in the worst case scenario, long hair.

2-0 out of 5 stars WORKS GREAT, WHEN WORKING
I have owned this sander for about 2 years. When it is working, it is a great sander, much better than others I own, but in the time I have owned it I have had to replace the pad 3 times, and all the bearings once. This sander is not being used commercially, but in a home shop.Yesterday the pad came off again which is what happens when thay wear out, and this time it stripped out the threads in the hole that holds it on.I am sure if I checked the bolt every time I change a disc it would help, but when I pay $100.00 for a tool, I would expect it to stay togeather better than this.I'am not repairing it again.I am buying another brand. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Super tool
I recently lost my reconditioned 3107 in a fire and I'm going to buy another just like it. Does that say anything? Tons of power. Just completly different from using a discount store vibrator. A little heavy, definatly a 2-handed affair, but thats OK. There are sexier looking sanders but the "polisher" looking handle is adjustable and functional. Dust collection is unimpressive (never connected to a vac.) All-in-all one of my favorite tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sander - superior dust collection - bargain price!
Having been VERY disappointed with the performance and long-term quality of the Black & Decker, Porter Cable & Dewalt versions of this machine, I thought I'd try this reconditioned unit.
It is GREAT! Very quiet and smooth running with really exceptional dust collection, I am VERY impressed. It has no tendency to "spin-up" at all and the dust collection is nothing short of amazing. The only shortfall I can find is the need to remove the front handle to sand close to a vertical surface with the front of the machine.
At the price of a mediocre, inferior product, it is an irresistable bargain if you need one.
I certainly look at Bosch tools with a new found respect. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Is this really a Bosch?
I bought this drill after my old Makita was stolen.I thought it would be made in either the U.S. or Germany--Malaysia is not in Germany. This tool is a piece of JUNK.It is loud, but does not have any power.I have since bought a Milwakee, and the Bosch sits on the shelf gathering dust.Don't waste your money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
I bought this as I was very impressed with their jig saw, which I have had for 3 years. This drill is a very weak product and I would not recommmend it for anything other then extremely light use.I am contractor and this tool was getting lots of use for fast, light drilling jobs. For the heavy jobs we use our 1/2" milwaukee. After three months the internal reduction gear stripped while drilling a 3/4" hole (this drill is specified to handle up to a 1" wood hole).I considered it bad luck and replaced the gear for $...3 months later the cord shorted out where it enters the drill.Again changed same and then 2 months later the chuck broke. I was very disappointed with this drill.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not up to Bosch standards.
I recently purchased the Bosch 1005VSRK drill.I have a Bosch jig saw and am very happy with it.I figured the drill would be the same quality as the jig saw.Wrong! When I tested my new drill I found that about 50% of the time it would start smoothly and slowly as a variable speed drill should.I found that the other 50% of the time the drill would hesitate then suddenly start up with quite a bit of torque and the speed would be fast. There seemed to be no way of knowing which way the drill would start which is a pain if you're trying to start a hole in a very precise place.I was very unhappy with it, and returned it right away.I then did what I should have done in the first place.I bought a Milwaukee 3/8" Magnum variable speed drill.I am extremely pleased with it.

In regard to the Bosch drill I've learned that this unit is made in Malaysia, and it doesn't seem to be up to Bosch standards. When it comes to this tool you better pass this dog up. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Bosch's Compact Tough cordless drills are designed to provide professional power in a compact profile and perform tough jobs in tight spaces and close quarters without compromising durability. Employing a flexible ABS nylon blend, this tool can stand up to the roughest job site conditions. This 9.6-volt model has a two-speed gearbox that delivers up to 250 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,000 rpm in high-speed mode. There's also a large two-sided fan for cool operation and motor durability and a 16-position clutch for matching the torque to your task. We like the ratcheting chuck that allows for quick, reliable one-handed bit changes and the soft rubber grip Bosch includes on all its cordless tools. If lightweight maneuverability is the goal, this 9.6-volt model may be your best bet. It has the smallest profile of any of the Compact Tough drills and weighs only 3.3 pounds. This model includes the drill, two 1.4 amp hr batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best 9.6v Drill By Far
This drill replaced a 9.6v DeWalt unit, which had a non-racheting, slightly wobbling chuck.I was tired of having to dig 1/8-inch pilot-hole bits out of my bookcase and furniture projects, after the DeWalt chuck failed to grip them. The Bosch really is a dream come true: light weight, good power, a racheting chuck with one-handed operation and no runout, and a soft rubber grip besides, all for the same price as the DeWalt (not to mention the Pro-Vantage extended warranty).I liked this drill so much, I eagerly purchased the Bosch 14.4 volt Compact Tough drill, for larger projects. You can't go wrong with this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars nice balance, compact, and great power for a 9.6v cordless
i research (almost) everything i buy and i compared this drill/driver with makita, dewalt, and black & decker.i felt that the bosch 32609 was the clear winner.it feels great in your hands and has outstanding balance.it is light (less than 3-1/2 lbs) and the smallest of the compact line of drill drivers from bosch.that's pretty impressive considering this has the highest torque rating (300 in./lbs) of any 9.6v cordelss drill/driver out there today.the 16-position clutch ensures that you can choose the correct torque level to your job while the keyless chuck makes replacing bits or drivers quick and easy.this package includes two batteries and a 1hour charger.for my use, i think this battery/charger setup will be more than sufficient.

all in all, i am very please with this tool that i'm actually looking for projects around the house!

i hope this helps you with your buying decision.peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Size , weight and power ats my favorite!
I have several cordless drills of different voltages and brands, Panasonic, Porter cable, and Bosch. This great drill is light and yet powerful. It is great for hardware installation, cabinet assembly and general work. It is much handier than 1n 18 volt monster that still doesn't have the torque or speed of a corded drill. This is the one to get. The new technology suggestes the batteries should last much longer and this one comes with a 3 year warranty! Wow! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a Ni-Cad
The BAT030 is a NI-Cad battery. This is good because the Ni-Mh have not been as good as promised. They do have the memory effect but not as much but they have been found to not endure as long as Ni-Cad in high current applications such as in 14.4 V power tools and up. They have been found to perform better in low current applications such as laptops and cell phones.

In addition, you can reduce the memory effect by not leaving the battery on the charger after it is fully charged and exercising the battery by running it down to nothing about once a month.

4-0 out of 5 stars MayBeGreat
This Battery May be great but there is NO information about what type of battery it is. Either Bosh dropped the ball in their info from manufacturer section or it is NOT a cool new type nickel metal hydride type with NO memory problems and toxicity problems like the old ni-cads or plain ole lead acid gell cells.
should not have to go elsewhere to find more but will have to...

4-0 out of 5 stars Extra Battery for ease of tool usage.
By my calculation, an extra battery goes a long way to save time whenusing multiple tools in the Bosh cordless tool set. After all isn't thepurchase of the family of Bosh cordless tools for the purpose of savingtime and thus money? If you are going to use the Bosh saw and theDrill/Driver then having a third battery allows you to have a battery ineach machine while the third recharges. By the way, "Home ImprovementEnthusiast" is a silly title since anyone purchasing such an expensiveprofessional grade set of tools is most likely to be in the homeimprovement trade and not a homeowner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars ITS GREAT
This ahmmer is really a life saver. I used it to crush a 30' x 30' slab 4" thich and it only took 2 days. The only downfall is that its taller than pueumatic demolition hammers and im not that tall so it was a little hard to pull iy back up when crushing the concrete. I still highly recomend it ...
