5-0 out of 5 stars Pliers With Attitude!
These work great for any needle nose application, but the tip is a little bulkier than a non-locking plier. The locking mechanism is easy to operate; just grip the object with the plier and tighten of loosen the screw until the lock closes. Remove the plier and tighten the screw another turn. Now, when you regrip the object and close the jaws, it will "snap" down and lock.

If you are gripping a bolt end-on, rather than sideways, the jaws will flex slightly when you twist the bolt. The release lever lets the object loose with a pinch on one handle.

Every tool box needs an assortment of vise grips for survival. Add these to your collection, you never know when only a vise grip will do. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the most often used sizes. Great clamps
I personally get more use out of this size than the other ones. Mainly because it is small enough to be handy, yet large enough to clamp even 4x4s to a, for example radial arm saw top. Great for holding a quick stop on a saw top as well. It has the macro length jaws for farther reaching, and the handy size.
The big benefit to these is that you get true mobility out of them. While holding a piece of work, lined up, in one hand, you use these quick grips in the other hand to secure the work. If it slips while clamping, it is still a one handed tool to release it, and reclamp it again. Enables you to maintain a professional flow to your work. I feel awkward when using regular clamps in comparison. They require two hands. You could use a spring clamp to hold it together, then get another clamp to give it a final hold, but the quick grip saves you from having to do that.
Having these clamps in a few different sizes is beneficial as well. Small ones are more frequently used, and don't get in the way. The 33 1/2" is great when you need to hold larger projects together, and you can't effectively use two smaller ones to substitute. Additionally the macro clamps give you deeper jaws for a farther reach, enabling you to use them for securing work, to your radial arm saw table for example. They are fast enough to be used for almost any application. Sometimes I use them to secure work when sanding with a power sander. A couple squeezes and they are on, and one squeeze and they pop off.
After getting the smaller ones, and using them, I immediately order two of the 33 1/2" for larger projects, and for tie downs on equipment, including the drill press, and occasionally the radial arm saw.
Their is a small rubber stopper, which you can readily remove, in order to reverse the end, and make it a spreader as well. Something not needed very often, but difficult to achieve without one of these.
One note is that these have built in rubber pads, that completely cover the metal internal end. That is an advantage when you do not want to mar the wood. That and the fact that you can squeeze these with one hand, creates a mechanism that is easy to use, but not something that you would want to use for strength clamping. As a safety measure, these clamp sufficiently for most operations, but a threaded bar clamp, is stronger. So for those operations where extreme strength is needed, these are not the clamps to use. You sacrifice mountain holding strength for the ease of use. For example if I was using a large bit on the drill press, and drilling into metal, I would clamp it with something more. Even the slightest movement in an operation like that, could cause a snag, sending the piece into movement. If you are using just one of them, at the end of a 24" board, and decide to rout the other end, it will move on you. Securing it with two of them, and it is super tied down. You get my drift.
The big advantage of quick grip clamps, is that they handle wood beautifully, even for glue up operations. Hold workpieces more than securely to do the job in most applications, and are so handy that they deserve more than 5 stars. I would feel lost without them. It is another tool in the must have category. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Wen you need the size use this one
As with the entire quick grip products the features that should entice you to buy and use the Quick-Grip 536 Bar Clamp are the ease of adjustment and the fact that it won't mar even the softest of wood yet still provide ample force for your project. People with low hand strength or hand pain can use the trigger ratchet used for the adjustment with ease. It only requires a firm squeeze slightly over the pressure used for scissors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy
Although more expensive than bar clamps or pipe clamps, the Quick Grip clamp makes up for it in its ease to use, non-marking rubber contacts, andeasy adjustibility.I make specialty wood products and typically finishmy products before the final assembly stage.Since I do not make fixturesfor these, as the low volume does not justify it, these clamps allow me touse one hand to hold the wood and the other to work the clamp.Notpossible with most conventional clamps.

Also, I've made the mistake ofbuying the lookalike clamps. They work okay; however, they do not deliverthe same clamping pressure.I only use them as supports to the Quick Gripclamps.

These clamps are strong enough to clamp glue joints withoutleaving gaps.I use the ones I have before I resort to my other clamps.

I cannot say enough good thing about them.I recommend these to allwood workers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great tool design.
These clamps are the better mousetrap in today's woodworking. To a guylike me who works alone, and often needs an extra hand, these clamps are ablessing.Providing the means for one handed clamping is great and thenon-marring faces NEVER leave marks on the wood.An added feature which Ilike is the fact that the design of these clamps will not allow you to putso much force onto them as to bend the bar (or mar the work piece). Although you won't pull any unruly hardwood glue joints together withthese, they definitely have their place. The cost is high, but to do whatthey are designed to do, I wouldn't trade the ones I have for anything onthe market. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but misnamed
The clamp is easy to use, as are all the Quick-Grip clamps.BUT, the 18 inch is a complete misname.Even with the pads removed, the maximum opening of the jaws is barely 13 inches.
What a disappointment if you are expecting the lenght stated to be the gripping capacity. All of the Quick-Grpi clamps come up 5 inches short of the stated length.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Third Hand
Boy, am I glad I bought this clamp product. I mounted it on one of my saw horses with a piece of 3/4 inch, threaded pipe. It will hold anything still while you work on it, from a piece of half inch pipe to a sheet of plywood. It's like having a third hand when I go to cut something with a power tool. It's also great for custom building work surfaces or stands on the spot to accomodate the situation. The genius here is that there is no limit to its' length; you can make it any length you want by changing the pipe. It can be mounted to anything, too, including work benches or even the tail gate of a truck. I'll have to get some more of these. Thanks Amazon !! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Plane for the money
I am a novice woodworker who can't justify at this moment in time a Lie-Nielsen or any of that type.I have found a real gem in this plane.I especially like the adjustable mouth that allows fine to coarse cutting.I am no expert, I just know this is one fine tool.I have planed pine, oak, and maple, with great results. As long as the blade is kept very sharp the results were a smooth finish. I found the blade to be well made.It takes little effort to hone, and holds an edge.I found the adjustments to be easy to use and the sole plate was right on the money.I may move up someday to a more meticulously machined plane, but for right now I am quite content with this one.In fact I am looking foreard to purchasing the Record 9 1/2.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent plane with a little work!
This is a great little plane for the first time purchaser and is a servicable tool for the professional as well.
You will need to sharpen the blade to get the best service and cut from the tool. You may have to polish the sole a little. (If you do not want to go these extra steps to make your tool work properly just purchase one of the better block planes).
The lateral adjustment lever works well, as does the depth adjuster.
The only criticism I have about this plane is the blade cover locking knob.It is a little difficult to tighten and untighten due to it's placement under the palm rest.Otherwise, this is a good little plane and is a fun tool which, once sharpened properly, will have you buying pine boards just to hear the "whoosh" as you plane a slice of wood off.I bought both the 60 1/2 and the 9 1/2.The 60 1/2 will do everything the 9 1/2 will do and more!I also own five other mid-priced block planes and this is my favorite! ... An excellent quality smoothing plane for the price. Fit and finish out ofthe box was very good. The sole was flat. The iron itself only needed a fewstrokes on a bench stone to get the edge sharp. The cam lever, lever capand adjusting nut operated smoothly and easily. Again, for the price youcan't go wrong. ... Read more
