5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it
I work as a stagehand and have had this tool for about 7 years now and love it. I use it everyday and can see working without it. The fact that I can open it with one hand in just a snap of my wrist is amazing, it has been a true life saver when I am climbing light rigs upwards of 50 feet and can only have one had free to work. It's strong construction has proven itself to be a tool that I will carry till the day I retire. Many of my co-worker use other multi-tools and they have all said that mine is much better than the ones they carry and wish that they had bought a gerber instead. It's strong, easy to use, dependable, and worth the cost. In the end you get what you pay for.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid, sturdy tool...
I have owned my MP600 for six years and use it almost every day.The only damage or severe wear on the tool is when I discovered that the wire cutters should not be used to cut hard steel wire.(Electrical cable, they are just fine, but steel nicks the cutters.)

The pliers can extend one-handed and slide out as smooth as silk, locking into place with a solid "click".(This does take some practice and a little wear.)All of the fold-out tools lock quickly and easily. The tools, especially the file and scissors are top-notch.The fact that the knife blade is half straight, half serrated is not the best design, in my opinion, and I would gladly give up the awl to get separate blades.

I own the optional toolkit, and use it quite often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tool is a "Must have on your belt"
I have had my gerber scout for about a year and have been totaly impressed with it.I have used at most of my boy scout den meetings and at all of our campouts. From opening a can to cutting open a pant leg to treat an injury it has never let me down.Easy and quick to open on handed! it's wonderful. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great knife
This is a solid working knife. Mine lasted 3 years before I lost it during a move. I had the serrated version; half straight edge, half serrated. The knife opened easily, held a blade well, was easy to sharpen, and had a solid lock. I used for everything from gutting fish to whittling. For the 20 bucks I paid, probably the most use I've ever gotten out of a pocketknife.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck
You can pay alot more for a good knife, but for the money Gerber cannot be beat. They come with a razor-sharp edge and take well to resharpening. I've used mine at work for over two years as an electrician and have grown to really appreciate the quality of this knife. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great knife!
Gerber makes excellent knives! Thanks to the clip this knife sits comfortably at the edge of my pocket for east access. The E-Z out description is very accurate since I can open the blade with one hand. The blade is very sharp and the serrations make cutting rope a ton easier!Excellent knife!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice but...
I've owned this knife for over 5 years. It has no rust and opens like the day I bought it. It feels good in your hand. Still maintains an incredible edge. I've used it mountaineering and one week excursions. I have even used it for markup on some of my wood working projects. Despite the durability, some of the serrated teeth have broken. I would buy it again, but I'm looking for a tanto style blade this time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Need a good knife?Well....
A good knife indeed. EZ is not overstated when getting this blade out. Just using the thumb is sufficient when getting the blade out. After a bit of use, and oil, with a flick of the wrist you can flip the blade out. (with practice of course or you'll cut yourself). Sturdy blade construction and serrated portion comes very sharp. Great belt clip. The one thing I like the best is that the unlock button is on top. That just makes it easier I think to use the thing. At about 3.5 inches, this blade is a definite good buy. (overall length 8 in.)

Pro's: Good pocket clip, Strong handle (Zytel), nice Kraton rubber inserts. Also lightweight (3oz.)

Con's: Stainless Steel. A shiny, but soft metal. Blade easily sharpens, but also easily dulls. Also, serrated portion is difficult to sharpen (but if you buy serrated, you'd already know that). Also a little hard on the hand because of the large clip if used for long periods.

Since easily sharpened, this knife makes a good personal protection type knife, or maybe light labor. A nice carry around. But, not a good choice for heavy use.

If you really really like this knife and don't like the stainless steel, Gerber sells premium ATS-34 stainless steel versions. Metal that stays sharper longer than regular stainless. They also have a rescue/utility EZ-Out line.

But if you're a novice knife shopper in need of excellence: there is better out there. Try Coldsteel, Ka-Bar, Kershaw, Ontario, Smith & Wesson, etc. etc. Remember, stainless steel isn't best. Look for high Carbon metals. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
This multitool and mini maglite are both very useful. Specially I very much liked the "Candle" property of the maglite. I live in a country that we time to time have power interruptions. And it came very handy when it happened to be when we were sitting a bar. And the multi tool from Gerber is something that I'd sleep with it. I am generally at the site. And you never know when you'll need it. Thanks to Gerber and Maglite very much for their very quality products.

5-0 out of 5 stars unbeatable team
Gerber enjoys quite an enviable reputation when it comes to knives. When they produce a multi-tool you know it's going to be good.I say it's thebest. This is my fourth U.S. mademultitool . It has out lasted the otherthree so far. I won't mention names but they are not as strong as theGerber. They might sell more but they don't make a better tool. I love themetallic "snap" this baby makes when you flick it into position. That snap is your assurance that it's locked and ready to go to work. Notonly do the pliers lock but so do all the rest of the tools.Besides all thenormal tools you usually get this comes with a jig saw blade clamp. Why isthat special ? Because you can put any blade in it you want. It comes witha carbide grit blade from the factory. This proved invaluable a few weeksback. Some friends went camping with us. We all took our 5th wheels. Oneguy had a blowout. His spare tire was Padlocked which is no problem untilhis key breaks off in the lock. There we were on the side of the highway.Well I remembered that my Gerber had a carbide grit blade on it and themini mag had fresh batteries. After a few minutes of concentrated elbowgrease ,we had his lock cut and we were back on the road.I never leavehome without it now.

4-0 out of 5 stars The right tool for everyone
This is a great pair of tools for anyone no matter what they need.Gerber blades and Mag Instruments are two of the most reliable manufacturers in their respective industries and the two items in the maintenance kit are noexception.

The multi-tool is well-built and functions smoothly.Allparts are very strong and the knife is no less sharp than any of Gerber'sother magnificent blades. The only thing which I would like to see on thistool is a pair of scissors, which can be found on other Gerber multi-tools,but not this one.

The mini maglite is almost as bright as larger modelsand only requires two AA batteries. This makes it extremely compact forits luminosity.Like any other flashlight from Mag Instruments you canexpect to get a lot of use out of this one.If the bulb by some chancemanages to burn out, don't worry there is a spare built right into thehandle.

Having these two tools together in one convenient pouch isextremely convenient for the car and for camping when you don't want totake everything you own. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars grippy, incredibly durable knife
I bought a Gerber Gator about 3 years ago. As an oudoors-y engineer, I've used and abused this knife an awful lot and haven't had to sharpen it much. The rubberized handle is great for use in bad weather, and really comfortable for extended periods of time. The gator is a thicker than most folding knives with similar blades, but still fits comfortably into a jean's pocket. It came with a nylon belt sheath, but it wore out quickly (because of increased friction from the rubber knife handle).

This is the one knife I take with me when I know I'll need one. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Bags like Bucket Boss's GateMouth are becoming more and more popular with contractors these days. They're much lighter than conventional toolboxes and, with advances in material technology, they hold up to rigorous on-the-job use. For the Pro Super GateMouth model, Bucket Boss uses its Boss Tex ballistic fabric--tightly woven and extra thick, this stuff holds up to continuous abuse from sharp edges and points. The Pro Super GateMouth has 39 exterior pockets and 10 interior, and comes with adjustable outside straps for quick access to a level or long-handle tool. It also has a beefy shoulder strap; a reinforced, super-wide opening; reinforced handles; and an identification window, so you don't mistake yours for your buddy's. Very portable and very flexible, the GateMouth is worth considering if you're in the market for a new tool "box." --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best I Have Found, But Still Not The Best
I bought this bag to consolidate some of the 4-5 toolboxes I have been using (including one of their smaller models).

I purchased this based on the performance of the smaller bag that I have and it has preformed amazingly well (Three years of weekend use carrying way more than it was supposed to, without a rip or other problem.)

I got this bag and was really excited to try it out. I started stuffing things in the pockets and quickly found out that I had to be careful what I put where. I put a small pen light in one pocket and it made it impossible to put anything in three other pockets (including one on the inside.)

Even so this thing can hold quite a bit. Right now it has almost all of my carpentry tools, a set of electric tools, a few plumbing tools and various assorted other things. It basically swallowed two toolboxes I was already using.

I wouldn't recommend this for the mechanic as it does not seem like it would do well with wrenches and sockets, but for the handyman or carpenter it cannot be beat.

The size is great, you'll always have room in the bag to dig for tools, because it you fill it you won't be able to carry it. Mine is pushing 40 pounds of tools and I have plenty of room left.

I would have given this 5 stars if they had spent a little more time designing the pockets instead of trying to say they have so many.

Still if you are looking to buy this, buy it already, you won't be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice & Big
I just traded in my old reliable canvas bag for this one.It was hard to do (I love the canvas) but the extra interior space saves me a lot of trips to the truck. My only complaint is that some of the exterior pockets are pretty small. Many of them are too "tight" to use for much. All in all, a really good bag with lots of room.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bag, Great Price
I just bought this bag for my husband who is always out working on cars or doing some kind of mechanical/electrical/plumbing favors for friends and family. Up until now, he puts all the equipment and tools he needs for each job in plastic Giant grocery bags to carry from one place to the other.

I saw this bag and thought it would be great for him to use instead of those grocery bags.

This bag has a place for his level, a loop to hold the electrical tape he is always misplacing, a place for a small flashlight, his tape measurer can just slide on to the front and there are so many pockets for tools and enough room to basically hold anything he needs to take with him.

For what he does and the tools he takes with him, it's the perfect size - not too big and not too small. And it's got to be more comfortable carrying than those grocery bags that eventually tear on him or get holes in them.

Also, it's a really nice looking bag.Very professional yet still rugged looking.

My husband really liked the look of the bag and thinks he will be able to put it to alot of use.

The only thing that would be nice for this bag are little plastic feet on the bottom. That way you don't have to worry about putting the bag on the floor and getting it wet or dirty...

All in all, this is a great looking and very usable bag.

My husband and I were both impressed when we received it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall a great bag
What a great bag! I have a few quibbles; as noted, the inside pockets are a bit tight. The zipper tab doesn't seem to match the heft of the zipper. The exterior pocket flaps should be a bit wider/broader to cover the pocket and the gatemouth design seems to balk if you stuff the bag. All minor. Well constructed overall and every bit worth the price. A reasonably lightweight bag that holds a decent amount - of course, you'll cram more into it than you can comfortably carry. Because it's a medium/long bag you have to balance the load - otherwise it dips - and why no shoulder pad? I personally wouldn't recommend the recip saw w/blade in the bag. I once tripped and landed on a nylon bag w/ a jigsaw - blade in thigh - ouch! No more. Blades off all saws (except circular) and hard cased for transport. I like this bag a lot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tool Carrier
great way to carry a good mix of tools around

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for cordless tools
This bag is very durable and practical for hauling around your cordless tools. I use mine to hold my Milwaukee 18 v cordless saw and drill as well as a D-handle Makita router and various hand tools. They all fit nicely. Three pouches on the outside each can house an 18 v battery. There is a sturdy divider that velcroes on the inside and several small tool dividers for nail sets, pencils, blades, etc. The bottom is nicely padded and the shoulder strap is rugged. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Here's how to make a better handle cheaper
I bought and love the Bucket Boss, but I immediately found the need for something like this product, since it was quite painful to carry a bucket loaded with tools even a short distance. I decided to write this review when I was that with shipping the cost will be $14.98. Here is my solution:
Buy some foam pipe insulation tubing (it usually has one side at least partially slit). Cut the tubing to the length you want for your handle. Secure the tubing with ratchet ties (and trim the so that the excess tab is removed). Finally cover the tubing and ratchet ties in duct tape. Even if you have to buy all of these items it should cost you less than buying this handle. You'll also have some pipe insulation, ratchet ties, and duct tape to use on other projects. I made my handle over a year ago and with regular use it still holds up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful concept
Five stars for marketing savvy in a country that once was the world's greatest industrial giant. The inventors of Bucket Boss really know their stuff. Who would have guessed that anyone could sell a six inch piece of common rubber hose with a slit down its length for five dollars American?

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Bucket Boss item!
How simple! It works wonders on cushioning the carrying handle when you have your Bucket Boss loaded! My wife even can carry a full bucket with this handy item. She thought the next time she goes to get a 5 gallon bucket of paint, she'll use the Bucket Grip to lug it to the cashier. I found the opening slot goes on the "UP" portion of the rubber grip and stay tight around the hard plastic original handle of the bucket. I'll probably just apply a piece of duct tape if it ever does start to loosen up or fall off. I like this item! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing is great!
Just got my Cable Bag last night and I was really worried it was going to be too small for my giant, 25 foot long jumper cables but they fit perfectly!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bigger than you think!
I have two 35' 10/3 cords with giant plugs on each end. These are extension cords that I made to remotely charge my Electric Vehicle at 220V and 30A.These are big, fat cords.I purchased two of these bags thinking that I'd need one each for the two cords.Wrong.Both of my cords (70' total, plus four giant plugs) all fit in one bag easily.

The construction of these couldn't be better. The zipper is huge and rugged (and goes both ways). The most important part is that the zipper goes about 80% of the way around the bag, so loading the bag couldn't be simpler. The bag opens completely like a clam-shell - you set the cord on the bottom half, and flip the top half back over and zip it around.I thought [the money]was a lot to spend on a bag like this, but I couldn't be happier with the purchase.I'd much rather buy something of quality that I don't have to worry about a few years down the road.

Great product!

4-0 out of 5 stars big bag

5-0 out of 5 stars Solves a problem very well
Most pouches don't come with a good place for a square and the darn things are always falling out or poking you in the ribs or something. This scabbard is well made and clips onto a pants pocket with a metal clip or it can be slid onto the belt using the loops on the back of the scabbard. The extra pouch and pencil slots are nice too.The material looks nice and is very resistant to wear, damage and fluids.I heartily reccomend it if you carry a sqaure often.

4-0 out of 5 stars End user in mind.
After getting tired of scraping knuckles in a large pouch, tearing holes in pants pockets, and trying other products, I have found a product that works. The scabbord does just what it says.A left handed model would make this a 5 star product. It's functional, easy to find your square/tape/pencil without having to look all of the time. It's also very durable, a definite PLUS.As a hobbyist, I look for products that will give me a lifetime of service, easy to work with, versitile, and dependable. The Layout Square Scabbord does all of this.I'm very pleased with this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars Compact and lightweight
Being a do-it-yourselfer, I have not yet invested in one of those "everything" tool belts. Thus far, I have always just stuffed my speed square in the biggest available pocket, and then pushed it out of the way when I needed something else in the same pocket. This speed square scabbard makes all the difference. It is compact and lightweight, yet it is extremely durable. And it frees up some extra space in my tool belt!I only wish that it came in a left hand model (not a big deal, but it sure would be convenient!!). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for other stuff too...
I don't even own a nail gun - just thought this looked like a nice simple belt pouch with plenty of depth. So far, I have been very satisfied with how it turned out.

I didn't want something too bulky, but I wanted to be able to stash a screwdriver or two and some pliers without having them falling out or stabbing me all the time. This thing fills the bill just right. I keep it on an old belt along with a hammer ring and one of those j-hooks, making it a versitile, yet unobtrusive toolbelt.(I find those big aprons too cumbersome and often too shallow.)If I need a place for fasteners, I'll just strap on one of those canvas pouches.

I'm not sure how durable it's going to be, but is is heavier material than some pouches, plus there is padding on the inside.

If you're tired of trying to maneuver with "the kitchen sink" strapped to your middle, this pouch might be just the thing for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy nail carrier
This accessary makes using my nail gun even better. Holds plenty of nails. When I first recieved it I was surprised at how big it was but I soon learned that it is good to have the capacity it does. I recommend this to anyone who has a framing nailer.

It was larger than I thought it would be. I dont have a gun that needs that large of nails. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Store Everything In One Bucket
I've been looking for the right all-in-one tool organizer for years.I live in a small apartment, so I don't have a lot of space for storage, but I still have a box full of various tools, and another box full of hardware pieces (screws, nails, etc.)I couldn't find a good way to store them - most tool boxes and bags are either intended for a garage and are far too big for an apartment, or they're too small to hold more than a few tools. And none of them have space to store both tools and hardware together.I was left with my messy cardboard boxes, until I came across this set on Amazon.

This is a great set for someone who doesn't have a lot of space, but wants to organize all their tools and equipment in one place. The pockets on the outside can store a lot of small tools, and the stackers inside will hold nails, screws, tape, glue, picture hangers, and everything else you might need. The round top holds my most commonly used nails and screws, for easy access. And you can carry the whole thing by the bucket handle! The system is very flexible - it would be equally useful for craft and sewing supplies, or as part of a more extensive set of tools. The quality is excellent; I'm sure it will last for many years to come.

One major limitation of this set - it's not suitable if you have larger tools. The pockets are fairly small, I was able to fit my cordless screwdriver in the largest one, but a drill or even a large hammer would be too big. These larger pieces could be stored inside the bucket, but then you wouldn't have room for the stackers (which take up the whole bucket when they are full). This set is best for storing small tools - screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc.But for someone with a collection of small tools, this is the perfect set.I love it already! ...
