Great work tool
This calculator is the best for the price. It does it all with regard to finance and mortgage calculations. The directions are straight forward and simple. They explain almost all variations of problems and how to solve them. In no time you understand this unit well. I've worked with others and this one was recommended to me. I'm glad I listened.

Great for Mortgage Qualifying
For merely calculating the monthly payment for a given loan amount, interest rate, and term, there are cheaper calculators that will do as well, although with one or two added keystrokes. But if you are a loan originator who needs to qualify borrowers and know what the front and back end ratios are, this calculator is simpler to use than the HP models I've seen. You can also store tax and insurance rates for quick p.i.t.i. calculations. This is a great little calculator at a reasonable price. It's the best kept secret in the mortgage industry.

Go figure
Hello Everyone,

I purchased this little gem after my Radio Shack EC-317 went south for the winter, summer, spring and fall.(I guess after 12 years of service, it has a right to kick-off)I had one heck of a time finding SOMEONE, that could tell me what this Material Calculator could actually do. Calculated Industries makes several models to choose from, including this model (ProjectCalc Plus)which range in price from [money amount]. I chose the ProjectCalc Plus because, what I was looking for was, a calculator that would convert decimals to fractions and then back again. Mind you ALL the Calculated Industries models will do this BUT, the ADVERTISING on the packaging isn't CLEAR ON THIS!!! The biggest problem I had, was just finding out EXACTLY what this little unit would or wouldn't do.

After all is said and done, I think this unit is a great deal for the price([money amount]). Mind you, it won't find run and rise for stair treads but, it does just about everything else. If I have anything negative to say about the unit, it's this, my tired old eyes have one heck of a hard time reading all the writing around the buttons on it. Perhaps someone from Calculated Industries will read this review, and put this problem before the design team for an improved version?! So, do you need to spend [money amount] for a calculator, perhaps, but I DIDN'T and I'll bet that MOST folks won't have to either.

To conclude, it's a good unit at a fair price.

I am blown away by this device. I first tried the free download from the Calculated Industries web site. ... It is a full blown version, without any restrictions, but stops working after 30 days. After about day 5 I knew I had to have it. By buying Construction Master Pro, instead of CM IV, you are getting a much better looking unit, with more features, a cover that mounts on the back while in use so as to not get in the way, and you are currently getting a free software version of Pro as well. All of that for only a couple more dollars than the IV version makes it a no brainer.
I am making cabinets, windows, and doors. In all of those, especially the windows, you need to do a lot of calculating in fractions. That makes the math work tedious at best. I was finding common denominators, then adding subtracting, dividing, multiplying, etc. Having to convert all along the way was a major amount of factoring. This calculator thinks in fractions as well as the standard arithmetic format. So you can insert, 8 1/8", and 3 13/64" for example, and it does all of the figuring for you. Convert your answer to board feet for material costs, is only a couple of buttons away. How many yards of concrete do I need to make the footers, no problem. I want to build an arch top doorway, and need to know the total amount of distance of the half circumference. No problem, just put in the rise at the center, and the run across the base, and it gives you every piece of information you could possibly need to know. This is just scratching the surface. This will be a tool that I will use for a long time to come. As I grow accustomed to its many capabilities, I will use it more and more,for a wide array of applications.
Could we call this calculus? It seems like it. When you watch the included CD that comes with the included calculator software version, you will see a video tutorial that explains a lot of the functions. Some are best understood by practitioners of that specific trade, but it makes me want to learn.
How much roofing material do I need? Just put in the pitch, and the floor space, and it calculates the amount of material. How many cubic yards of soil do I need to fill in the hill leading up to a wall? How many yards of concrete do I order for a patio. Determining hip and valley rafters. What is their length, and angle, and where do you put the bird mouth? Everything is calculated, and displayed in some applications as a sub chart with all of the finished answers in the software version. So it is nice to have both. Whether you are at your desk, or in the field, every option is covered.
I highly recommend the Construction Master Pro, I can't remember when I was more excited about a tool. I can't wait to use the calculator in ever expanding roles.
The price here at Amazon was 10 or 20 percent lower than the other sources, or at best the same price as others, and included free shipping. My advice, buy it, and buy it here. I warn you though that if you download the free trial version, you will be hooked after using it only a few times.Hope this helps.

A must buy for anyone in the construction industry
This calculator comes with me wherever I go.As an architect, I am constantly using it to help me in field surveys and design decisions.How I lasted for so long on the English system without it is a mystery.Even in meetings my colleagues are happy that its there to save us time.Seriously, until we switch to the metric system, this will be an invaluable tool for me.

If we could do this kind of math in our heads, we'd be working for NASA, not cutting wood. This little gem will add, subtract, multiply, and divide yards, feet, inches, fractions, decimals, meters, centimeters, and millimeters and make you look really, really smart. We threw some astronomical calculations at it and got our answers in the time it took to push a button. Figuring board feet, squares, and cubics is not a problem, and this calculator will do area and volume as well. Stairs--perhaps the most intimidating of all construction projects--become nothing but a quick calculation. We thought it was a nice touch that a battery was included, and the user's guide is great, even for someone who lacks a degree in rocket science. This is a great tool, made even greater with the Pro model
You can download from Calculated Industries a free full blown version of their PC Software version of Construction Master Pro Calculator. It works for 30 days without any restrictions. That is what got me hooked. Once I saw what you could do for calculating board feet, and lots of other calculations, I knew I had to have more than the trial version. With C Industries Construction Master Pro, you are currently receiving the software version (a 30 some dollar value in itself) for free with the purchase of the calculator. It is included in the box. Considering the Pro is only going for a few more dollars than the IV version, it makes it a no brainer to buy that model instead.
Since I bought the pro, I am going to go over and write a review on that one instead. It has all of the features of the IV and then some. It comes in a great looking case, and has a front cover that mounts on the back when not in use. It looks great, and is even greater for its usefulness. Hope this helps.

Saves you time (and some brain cramps, too!).
I have a looooong way to go to even be close to tapping the full capabilities of this little unit. I've only had it for a month or so, and I've used it for lots of things. The feet-inch-fractions feature is just the best. The magnetic case works pretty well. If you find yourself using your pencil for a lot of figuring when you're on the job, you might consider giving this a try.

Great For Real Estate Agents
As a real estate agent I needed to be able to quickly determine the dimensions of a room for my clients. The 3336 Laser Dimension Master is just what I needed. The distance calculations are done by sonar and the laser pointer is very helpful for sighting accurately. My clients are impressed and that's what I had hoped for. Can't beat it for the money.

What a time saver!
I love this tool!Because of the amenities it offers, grading time is cut in half.Gone are the days of trying to remember which number you last entered because it keeps track of the grades you have entered.It is easily programable, fits easily into a tote or briefcase, and the magnetic backing keeps it secure in it's covering.I wish I had this years ago when we homeschooled, but am thrilled to have it now.

Works great!
I must have a dozen calculators, so why buy another? This one manipulates fractions easily and converts several kinds of measures that I use often (board-feet, cubic yards, etc) and calculates cost with few keystrokes. It has a super-intuitive user interface, too, which helps a lot. It's worth every penny.

What a little gem!
This calculator is so much fun and so easy to use that sometimes I pick it up and start trying to think of little projects to measure. My favorite feature: 25 buttons instead of 125! The design is dead simple and elegant. Conversions between metric and English, distances and board-feet, wall space and gallons of paint. Auto-calculations resulting in linear, square, and cubic measurements. This is my favorite calculator of all time. And I love the little flip cover and smooth back, giving me plenty of room to take my Sharpie and scrawl my name on the back, thus thwarting friends and neighbors who might have sticky fingers.

Fractions Never were My Strong Suit
