4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not the best
I use this hammer drill to place expansion bolts in stone for rock climbers. My experience in hard sandstone is that the tool will drill around 10 holes with a new bit, 3/8" by 4" deep before needing a recharge. It's light and fast and seems to be fairly durable, a big improvement over the old Bulldog. But when it comes to real power in a cordless hammer drill think Hilti as in model TE5.I used one of those a while back and although a bit heavier this thing drilled 15 holes and was still going strong when I had to quit. ... If you're having trouble finding a cordless combo kit thatpacks enough cutting capacity at an affordable price, give this 24-voltpackage from Bosch a try. The blade-left circular saw offers as muchpower and capacity as you could ask for in a cordless saw. It caneasily cut regular 1-1/2-inch-thick material at a full 50-degree bevel, and the bevel mechanism has a positive stop at 45 degrees. The sawfeatures tool-free, rear-pivot depth-of-cut adjustments and tool-freebevel adjustments. The wrench for blade changes stores in a clip righton the base. The rear battery configuration on this saw allowed Boschto give the tool good, even balance while maintaining a nice lowprofile.

In this kit, Bosch teams the circular saw with a burly 24-voltreciprocating saw that provides plenty of heavy-duty cutting power. Its0 to 2,300 spm speed ranks it with many corded reciprocating saws inraw cutting speed. The reciprocating saw also features tool-free bladechanging and shoe adjustments, and, in a feature unique to Bosch'sreciprocating saws, the user can switch the stroke length from 3/4 inchfor precision plunge cuts to 1-1/4 inch for faster cuts. For areciprocating saw, it's relatively easy on the arms, and for a cordlessmodel, its power can't be beat.

The batteries on Bosch's 24-volt tools are 2 amp hr ni-cads, made forBosch by Panasonic. While we really like the padded grips Bosch uses onits cordless tools, the 24-volt battery does add a little extra heft tothese tools, and no matter how nice the grip is, you will notice theextra weight if you carry these tools around all day. This kit is idealfor contractors and other professionals looking for heavy-duty tools ata great price. The full kit includes the 6-1/2-inch circular saw, reciprocating saw, two 24-volt batteries, a one-hour charger, a carbidecircular saw blade, a rip fence, two reciprocating saw blades, and acase that holds it all. --Brian Trinen ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Very handy for light to medium duty work
Purchased the 24 V reciprocating & circular saw combo kit some two years back.I'm an electrician, not a professional carpenter, but I do take on remodeling projects from time to time.I've enjoyed decent mileage (a host of window replacements, two kitchens and four bathrooms) out of both these tools, but I've had some problems as well.

When the reciprocating saw gets to vibrating - as reciprocating saws will - the battery pack falls out!Drop that sucker on it's head one time too many, and you're out 114 bucks for a replacement.Recently took my saw to a repair shop, and waiting to hear back from the factory. Thus, still don't know if it's a design flaw, or just another busted tool.Apart from that one, very significant problem, I'll say that the reciprocating saw's darn handy, and excellent for light to medium demolition. However, when the going gets really tough, you need something that'll make the lights dim; that's when my corded Milwaukee takes over.

The circular saw's 6 1/2" blade makes it a light to medium-duty tool as well. It's left-bladed, which I like, but this also means the blade-guide tends to bind against the cut off piece of whatever you're sawing (I'm right-handed), and the tool has to be pushed.I like the saw's electric brake very much; release the trigger and the blade stops quicker'n you can think about it.

Over all, both tools are handy-dandy, but a bit pricey for something that's not pro-grade.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Raw Power!
I purchased the Bosch 24 volt with the Drill, Flashlight, Circular Saw, and reciprocating saw. This set is nothing short of awesome! The reciprocating saw blasts through a very thick metal pipe like it was butter!I didn't expect to finish that job on one battery but I was wrong.I have no doubt it could have cut that pipe 50 times on that one charge, it didn't even slow slightly. The drill is the same story, true corded power.I'm 6'5" and 265 lbs and the drill "caught" while drilling 1/4" steel with a 1/2 drill bit and damn near broke me wrist.Regarding the weight......I have been so amazed with the power that I haven't even noticed. With the drill, put the supplied handle on this monster because it takes two hands and a strong grip!I do wonder if the 2.4 amp hour batteries I have seen have a significant advantage over the 2.0 amp hour batteries that it ships with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Less is not always more.
The 3960CFK 24 V combination kit includes 2 batteries, 1 charger, 1 light, 1 6.5" circular saw, 1 0.5" drill / driver, 1 reciprocating saw ( mail-in ) and a case for ....

You don't have to be especially observant to notice the significant relative expense of this offering. ... Read more

Whenever you buy Bosch, you know you're getting awesome quality in workhorse pieces. This combo pack of four cordless tools is a prime example. The 1/2-inch drill/driver is lean and mean, just growling with 475 in./lbs. of torque. The keyless, 1/2-inch chuck can be opened and tightened easily with one hand, and it has a 16-position torque-control clutch to handle a variety of different materials and thicknesses. The 5-3/8-inch circular saw is light and handy, even with its battery, and cuts at a nice 3,600 rpm. We like this saw particularly because the depth-of-cut adjustment is in the rear, allowing easy, one-handed changes. Bosch's flashlight is a tough cookie, with a pivoting head and powerful beam. But here's the best part--as a bonus, Bosch tosses in its reciprocating saw, a five-pack of blades, and a 10-piece Clic Change drill bit and driver kit. The reciprocating saw feels great in hand and is the kind of tool you can't wait to try. It offers two stroke length choices to match your job, and packs plenty of power for tough demolition work. This kit is a great buy for professionals or for serious home remodelers. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! didn't know it could be this good!
I've used/owned many, many drills, corded and cordless, and this drill blows them all away. Got it for free (!) for a test drive, and my God, what a drill. I could spend paragraph after paragraph extolling the virtues of this product. Suffice it to say, I'll trust Bosch for all my corless power tool needs. Three years old and still outperforms any tool I own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Drill I Ever Had
After around 10 years of rough use, I was ready to find a new drill to replace my Makita 9.6v cordless.I wanted something with more power but did not have a "wagon load" of batteries.I chose this Bosch 12v model because of the good reviews and had heard about the Bosch quality. The specs indicated it had excellent torque for the power. Let me tell you the reviews are correct and after six months of use this drill is fantastic.I have dropped numerous times from a ladder (onto concrete) and it always amazes me that it still works perfect. The power is superb.I can drive 4" screws into deck no problem. The batteries last a very long time. Why do you need a 18v monster when this 12v has plenty of power?I still haven't figured that one out yet.The grip is comfortable.Recharge is pretty quick. Comes with two batteries. The drill sounds and performs very precision. Everything seems right-on with no slop in the gears or drive.I love this drill!I recommend to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Tool from Bosch
I am a remodeling contractor and use cordless drills all day. I have used all varieties and owned most. Without exception my Bosch's (I now have four) have outperformed and most importantly outlasted the rest. I bought my first 12volt four years ago, and it is still going strong. Comfortable and well balanced, excellent keyless chuck, and batteries that go for ever. I would highly recommend one to anyone needing a professional grade tool. Just hold it next to those yellow paper weights, the difference is visible. ... Read more

If you're having trouble finding a cordless combo kit thatpacks enough punch at an affordable price, give this 24-volt arsenalfrom Bosch a try. With a maximum torque rating of 500 inch-pounds, thecordless drill is among the toughest available. That kind of torquenecessitates the included removable side handle and is likely to makethe user thankful for the cushion grip. Powered by one of Bosch's 24-volt batteries, the flashlight included inthis kit might well be called a spotlight. It offers all theillumination you need, and has a two-position pivoting head and anadjustable focus. The batteries on Bosch's 24-volt tools are 2 amp hrni-cads, made for Bosch by Panasonic. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Quality on the market
I am a contractor and I use these tools everyday.I have had this set for a couple of years now and I can say without hesitation it was a very wise purchase, I have no regrets.BOSCH is quality equipment and work flawlessly.I am still using the original batteries that came with the set and they are still going strong.I especially like the fact that the batteries recharge in just one hour and that they are Ni-MH.

I now have all the BOSCH 24 volt tools except the new jig saw, but will probably have it this spring.I would recommend these tools to anyone who wants quality well built tools.

2-0 out of 5 stars no sawzall
i am a contractor, i thought finally a cordless set with enough power to justify putting it in the truck and pulling it out on a job. it works great, plenty of power. one of my workers was pulling out a screw on a float over the water and the chuck backed off and fell in,(1 month old) a bosch mechanic said that bosch wouldn't replace it. the drill has to much power to use in reverse over the water, was what was told to me. after alot of anger they finally replaced it.the second thing is i bought it in june 2002 and was told the it was a higher price because you get a free sawzall. WRONG that ended april 2002 and BOSCH wont do anything about it. bottom line is no free sawzall

1-0 out of 5 stars Bosch isn't what it's cracked up to be
I purchased a Bosch 24-volt combo tool kit from International Tool Corporation on the Internet. Form the very first time I used the Bosch kit, I was very disappointed in the Bosch cordless tool performance. I have used many Bosch corded tools with great performance and success. This is the first cordless tool I have used by Bosch and it is the worst performing cordless tool system I have ever used. Being a contractor I use a wide variety of tools and in buying the Bosch system I feel like I have been misled and used. The Bosch kit was more expensive, the batteries that are provided with the kit have short run times, it is difficult to find additional batteries and the longer run time batteries that I have found on-line indicate that I will have to wait weeks to receive them.In general, the performance of the tools is sub-standard at best.I feel I have bought into a tool system that will have to be replaced within a year, and combo kits are supposed to last at least 3 years. It will be a long time, if ever, that I will purchase Bosch tools again. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars design flaw
This drill has great power, however, the chuck assembly is attached with a small plastic ring. It will break in a 3 foot fall. My drill has broken twice in 6 months. To their credit, Bosch has repaired it free. I wish they would upgrade it to a more rugged model.

1-0 out of 5 stars The nose of this drill will break off!!
I am a Genral building contractor For 27 years and I started with a 9.6 makita back in early 80's then went to 12V milwaukee and then to this drill and niether fo this two drills are any good.Iam still using the old 80's Makita. I bought this drill basing it on other Bosch products and this has to be the worst. This drill fell off a SIX FOOT ladder and the whole nose of the BROKE COMPLETELY OFF.I will stay with Makita.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed with Bosch
I work in the building industry, and have bought my share of tools.I purchased the Bosch 24V, thinking it would be a good replacement for my 6 year old cordless Dewalt drill.During two years of use, I have had numerous problems with this drill, and have gone back to my 8 year old Dewalt. The charger has been fixed twice.I have fixed this drill twice and it is currently in the shop getting a repairestimate.Bosch has a repution for depndable tools.I own several Bosch tools, but I am deeply dissapointed with this purchase. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!
I love this thing! I was amazed at how powerful it is. This drill will drill through just about everything. I have tried many drills from other brands and they just don't compare.

5-0 out of 5 stars How do you Improve on it?
This is the best drill I've ever owned, bar none! DeWalt, Makita, you name it I've owned it...even the Tim Allen Drill/driver.Nothing I've used matches the torque or the clutch. It is comfortable, and will drill through anything I have touched it to.I was so impressed I bought two!Bosch has made me Blue to the Bone.

5-0 out of 5 stars CORDED DRILL WITHOUT THE CORD
The title says it all. When you bring out this drill, You're bringing out the "BIG GUNS!" I kid you not, This is the only cordless drill that I've ever used that has the power of a corded drill. I use it for driving screws, and a corded drill to drill the pilot holes. This way, I dont have to keep changing bits. They say it weighs 15 lbs., but you can't tell it. It feels more like 8. It is really well balanced. The batteries last for ever, and then it only takes an hour to charge them back up. I built three tables before I had to change batteries. If I were Porter-Cable, Dewalt, Milwaulkee or any of the rest, I'd be ashamed. When it comes to cordless drill drivers, this one stands alone and a way out in front. Thanks Bosch, you did it again! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great torque, but.....
This tool has plenty of power but thank God for two batteries and a fast charger. The run time leaves a lot to be desired.I have an old 9.6 volt drill that outlasts the Bosch by 2to1.But all that aside, it's got a great chuck and the bits run true with no slippage.Mabe I just got a bad set of batteries.

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall Good Drill
I've had mine for over 6 months and for the most part have been pretty satisfied. It's powerful ( 450 in/lbs of torque ), lightweight, well balanced, and a great value with a low price and 2 batteries and a one hour charger. Compared to other 14.4 drills, it's very competitve. The only thing that I don't like is the run time. I personally think the run time is weak, but 1) I'm used to using 24 volts and 2) I haven't compared it with my 14.4 DeWalt and PC. Overall, this is a pretty good drill for just about anyone

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch is Boss
To be perfectly honest, I do not have this particular model. I do have two 3610's and a 3615. They are of the same breed, however, as the latest model, and I have had ample time (three years) to put them through their paces. In my opinion, the first thing that you must consider before buying any tool is what you are going to use it for. It does not make sense to buy a 24 volt cordless monster for doing a job better suited to a corded drill. I went to my local HD and hefted some of the 18 and 24 volt models and they were great as long as you had an electric winch to pick them up. You can not work with them for any length of time. Period. The Bosch 14.4 volt models are the epitomy of great design, great ergonomics and sensible application of battery power. They have accomplished everything I have thrown at them, even though I have thrown them some real curves, such as driving No. 14 screws, and drilling holes with 1 inch speed bore's. For a general, all around cordless drill they are the best I have seen, or used. Most of the others are sloppy with wide tolerences, very heavy, or just didnt feel right in your hand. These drills feel right right from jump street. My recommendation is to buy two. One for pilot drilling and one for driving. If you are a fanatic, like me. buy three. Through hole, pilot hole, driving. By the way, I have Bosh's Circular saw, Jig saw, and metal shear, and they are all top of the line, very well engineered tools that are a pleaseure to use. My next buy will be the 1618EVS Router. All my toos ar turning blue, the gray ones the red ones and the yellow ones are going on the auction block!Hope this helps, Have a good life! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Drill
I've owned a Makita which is a good product and Porter Cable which is also a good product, but this Bosch is by far more solid than the others. It feels reliable and has the right balance.PLenty of torque and speed for all jobs.Would be nice to have more torque settings and NMIH batteries but it's still my drill of choice. ... Editorial Review

While it offers only 16 clutchsettings--a small number compared to the 18 to 24 settings on competingdrills--this heavy-duty tool is really intended as more drill thandriver, and in most applications we can imagine, 16 settings is plenty. The keyless chuck on this drill has a grip tough enough to match themotor's high torque and can hold the big bits you'll want to use withthis drill.

The blade-left, 24-volt circular saw offers as much power and cutcapacity as you could ask for in a cordless saw. It can easily cutregular 1-1/2-inch-thick material at a full 50-degree bevel, and thebevel mechanism has a positive stop at 45 degrees. It featurestool-free, rear-pivot depth-of-cut adjustments and tool-free beveladjustments, plus the wrench for blade changes stores in a clip righton the base. The rear battery configuration on this saw allowed Boschto give the tool good, even balance while maintaining a nice lowprofile.

Bosch's cordless reciprocating saw provides plenty of heavy-dutycutting power without the leash. Its 0 to 2,300 spm speed ranks it withmany corded reciprocating saws in raw cutting speed. It featurestool-free blade changing, shoe adjustments, and--in a feature unique toBosch's reciprocating saws--you can switch the stroke length from 3/4inch for precision plunge cuts to 1-1/4 inch for faster cuts. For areciprocating saw, it's relatively easy on the arms, and for a cordlessmodel, its power can't be beat.

The batteries on Bosch's 24-volt tools are 2 amp hr ni-cads made forBosch by Panasonic. While we really like the padded grips Bosch uses onits cordless tools, the 24-volt battery does add a little extra heft tothese tools, and no matter how nice the grip is, you will notice theextra weight if you work with these tools all day. This kit is idealfor contractors and other professionals looking for heavy-duty,high-powered cordless tools at a great price. The full kit includes the1/2-inch drill, 6-1/2-inch circular saw, reciprocating saw, two 24-voltbatteries, a one-hour charger, a drill bit, carbide circular saw blade,a rip fence, two reciprocating saw blades, and a case that holds itall. --Brian Trinen ... Words cannot express how much of a pleasure it is to use these tools.Battery life is superb and the tools are of excellent quality. Not enough good things to say about the set.

3-0 out of 5 stars Perfect, when it works
I'm an HVAC contactor.I use my tools often.I previously owned a porter cable cordless drill that performed flawlessly. The performance of the bosch tool has been exemplary.Lots of power and reasonable weight. The first gear on the cordless drill gave up after two months of use however. Now I have to take it to a local repair shop and live without it for a week.Even after they repair it I will question it's durablity.I would suggest that people looking at this kit strongly consider a dewalt.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch is top of the line in tools!
My name is Ben Mackey.I'm from huntingdon, PA.I have not been in the trades very long, but what I've seen, heard, and used of the tools, I have found it to be a very reliable, long-lasting, and convient buy. They are light-weight and confortable, especially being in the 24volt category. They have the durability and strength of corded(electric) tools and the battery life that is unbeatable. The only drawback of these tools is the availability of them. Other than that, five stars all the way! ... Read more

Editorial Review

This review refers to the new model of this tool. This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like-new condition. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. Reconditioned tools come with the same warranty as their new counterparts.

The Bosch 3860K drill/driver makes its presence felt on the job site. Two speed settings, with variable speeds for each, and a 16-position torque control put you in charge. Switch effortlessly from high speed to high torque for jobs that need a little extra muscle, then switch back on the fly. The enclosed side handle attaches easily to either side of the tool for better control and stability on tough drilling jobs. A slim design and solid metal casing add to the overall durability and design, while a soft-grip, easy-touch trigger and safety stop make this tool a joy to use. All in all, the Bosch 18-volt drill/driver is a solid performer that will quickly find a place among your most frequently used power tools. --Carl Thress ... Read more
