Clipper
This clipper is a big scissors, that's all. There's no rotation of the blades relative to the handle, as the ad on Amazon says. My pair is OK, but the spring is a real workout machine, and I'm wondering how to lighten it a bit. I find that the shears gum up with grass juice very quickly, and then the blades bind (won't open with the spring). I carry a wrung-out rag while I'm trimming and wipe the blades quite often to keep them free of drying grass juice. This works, and I'm able to keep on snipping for as long as I want. The shears are sharpenable, and the construction seems strong. I really would like to ease that spring -- that stiff spring is really my only beef with these. ... Read more

Cuts smooth and clean
I'm really glad I tried out this pruner. It is the best I've had so far and I have 60+ roses to prune. I haven't had it long enough to rate it's durability but I do know it cuts smooth and clean.And it cuts through some hefty canes. Are you clearing old growth forests?
If so, don't use these.If you are doing light pruning around the house... the I've got a yard and plants and trees and maybe some fruit trees, these are great.Do you need longer handles... I guess that's subective.I'm of the opinion that if you are trying to cut anything bigger than 1 1/2 inch you really ought to use a nice sharp pruning saw.Of course it depends on what you are pruning.These are a little expensive but easy to use, sharp, can be resharpened, and have easy to replace handles.Although I think you'll have a hard time breaking these accidently.If you like quality tools, this is something worth looking at.

Good for most cutting jobs but not best for everything.
I have had an anvil looper for a long time. The anvil looper has a gear mechanism that increases the leverage. It easily cut up to 2-inch branches with one slice. But the blade finally became dull and I could not find a replacement so I decided it was time to buy a new one. I had a difficult time deciding between an anvil or bypass looper. I decided on the bypass because it has 2½-inch cutting capacity and long 32-inch handles for leverage. They should have said 2½-inch capacity if you can cut it because you can't cut through a 2 or 2½-inch tree branch without attacking it several times from various angles. That makes cutting vary difficult. On smaller stuff it cuts great but then the long handles become awkward.

It is a good cutting tool for brush and small branches but next time, when I must buy another one, it will be an anvil.

Worth the money
Expensive, yes. But this is an efficient, tough tool.

Just spent many days clearing brush and trees. This tool is the best I have used. I have broken wooden handles on other loppers, struggled with others, and am completely satisfied with this 32 inch Corona. Also consider their hand clippers. The top of the line is fantastic.

Chainsaw Not Required!
Gee whiz... occasionally, you find a piece of equipment that is truly well-made and worth the extra dollars it costs. Corona's loppers are super! I have 5 acres and along a fencerow I had a lot of willow trees coming up that had already grown to a couple of inches in diameter. They were a real pain to mow around, and I had grown to dread mowing that side of my lawn. One hour with the Corona lobbers in my hands, and they were all laid to waste! I had originally thought about cleaning this undergrowth up with a chain saw, but these lobbers are much faster and a lot easier to use to boot!

I'd had some miniature lobbers that I used to cut roses with. I'd always thought a lot of those mini-lobbers too, but had never paid attention to what brand they were. I knew that on occasion, I had pruned trees with them, which was well beyond their advertised or intended capacity, and they'd always done well. So... when I was hanging up my new giant Corona lobbers, I picked up the little ones I'd had for so long to see what brand they were... Corona also. These guys just make great tools!

I've cut some whompin big bushes and tree limbs with my new giant lobbers, and they've never given as much as a squeak.

I don't own these anymore,
(See my review on Felco #2 pruners as to why.)After reading the current reviews on these things, I have to say I'm a little suprised by one (bending cutting 3/8 inch branches... ouch, I don't think that is typical.)I can see these working well for cutting sunflowers... if that was all these were used for I could see giving them a higher rating, but most people will use them for more tasks than that.I bought a set on the advice of a salesman and took them home to try out for a couple of days, and took them back.They're all right, but I think you are further ahead by spending the extra ten bucks on a set of Felco's.Better quality, better feel, better durability.You'll be happier longer.

Don't use them on big cuts... they'll self destruct.
On the first day out, these pruners self-destructed on me.I used them to trim some small branches.They worked fine through several, but then apparently twisted on one cut. The large blade gouged into the small, digging into the metal. I didn't have any warning or "feel" that the blade was twisting and the branch wasn't that thick (1/4-3/8"). I had to take them apart and file away the very large burr.Needless to say, they don't work as well now and I'm in the market for a replacement.

I use these to cut/prune sunflowers for wholesale. I've had them for about 3+ years and they've held up great. They are sharp enough for small/precise work, and large enough for significant cuts (which happen often with large sunflower stems). ... Read more

Good quality
I use mine for clearing leaves and other debris from in bushs and around plants.It is great for those purposes. The idea of using it for a yard rake is totally rediculous.

My 5 year old liked it anyway
Someone claims to have raked 1/2 acre with this?I wonder how long that took?2 days?This rake is very tiny.My daughter likes to play in the sand with it, and it is just the right size for that.It is not a full sized rake.The quality is okay, though.

Very good, stays sharp!
Great pruners! I have used these for over a month now, they are still sharp and cut with ease. I've trimmed all the weeds, tree's and cut along the walkway in our yard.... they cut great, I can't say enough good things about these pruners. One thing I like is they never seem to dull. My neighbor's borrowed them for a few days, they bought a pair so I was lucky to get mine back. A great value, very good pruners.

The Best
I have used these clippers enough by now to say they are the best I have ever used. The angle of the blades is so much more useful than the straight ones. The quality is outstanding.

18 monthslater and I still think these are the best clippers. Yes, it helps to have long, strong fingers.No shame in using two hands, especially when you can cut larger branches than the 1 inch promised.

Maybe I need a support group
My introduction to the Corona Clipper Company came utterly by chance whenI bought their Homeowners 1/2" pruner simply because it was the firstone I saw. I was so thoroughly impressed with the quality of that prunerthat I've since added about a half dozen different Corona tools to mycollection, and I want even more!

As good as their Homeowner models are,the Professional series has a host of valuable improvements. Ergonomically,the angled cutting head makes for a slightly more comfortable cuttingposition, and the handles are thicker, so it's a little more comfortable tohold. And joy - the Professional series has a different type of lockingclasp that's not nearly as fickle as on the Homeowner's series (my onlyreal complaint about that line of pruners is the rather unreliableclasp).

What continually impresses me about Corona's tools is how wellthey're designed and manufactured. Compare this pruner to pruners that looksimilar, from companies like Fiskars, and the difference in the quality ofthe materials and construction is incredibly obvious. The thickness of theblade is a good way to compare brands - Corona's beefy blade is twice asthick as some other brands, so you know it's going to be more durable, lesslikely to break or wear prematurely. This pruner has a heft and solidityand smoothness of movement that other, less expensive brands lack, and it'sthis overall level of quality and substantial feeling that makes it a toolthat will outlast its competition. When you really bear down on it to slicethrough a limb, the tool doesn't flex, give, or yield in any measure; itremains solid and just does what it's supposed to, every time. Yes, theycost a little more, but you really do get what you pay for.

A word ofadvice...if you're thinking about getting one of the larger models - the3/4" or 1" capacities - you better have big hands, because theyopen pretty wide and it can be difficult to apply enough pressure to cut abranch if you don't have long (and strong) enough fingers to hold andsqueeze the handles. Don't just assume that, "Well, if I get the1-inch model, I'll be able to cut bigger branches! Life will be grand! I'llbe the envy of my neighbors!", because if your hand isn't large enoughto span the handles when you open the pruner around that one-inch branch,you'll end up having to use two hands, one on each handle, pressingtogether, and when your neighbors see that awkward maneuver, they'll hardlybe envious. mighty mini
these clippers are small, but sturdy, I have used them for everything from houseplants to working at a garden center, for deadheading, pruning shrubs, to cutting back perennials. They go with me everywhere.

These clippers are very small
Ok, so they *are* called "Mini Shears", but beware they are VERY small.They will literally fit in the palm of your hand, and are only about 4 inches long.Don't purchase these if you have serious pruning to do.

These Are Nice For Working With Orchids
I have had these handy little shears for several months and really enjoy using them while potting up my orchids.The small size is perfect for trimming back roots before potting up a plant.The thin tip is also good for precise cutting of a spent flower stalk.

Heavy use causes bypass to bypass too much
This worked wonderfully when I first started using it.
I quickly cut branches I would have sawed before or for which
I would have used the chain saw. After two months, the lopper
stopped cutting all the way through the branches. It left a
little strip connecting the two parts. I think the heavy sheet
metal hook bent away from the blade, leaving a gap between the
two. It still cuts easily for 90% of the thickness, but it
always leaves a ribbon joining the two. For infrequent or one
time heavy use, this should work fine. Do not plan on using
this lopper for a lifetime. I suggest considering the
professional loppers from Corona.

Best Haircutting Tool on the Market
We was in a crisis over in Skunk Holler (which is a suburb of Moonshine Holler).Ned the Barber was fed up with wearin' out all his shears and scissors on his clientele (and we're a hairy bunch) to the point he was thinkin' about shuttin' down.Can't be no civilization without a barber, so I lended Ned my CORONA CLIPPERS.

And these just ain't any ol' clippers.With 24-inch handles and a cutting diameter up to two inches Ned has the leverage and power he needs to slice through shaggy manes that ain't been combed in years.Heck, flat-top, buzzcut, crewcut, or mullet, Ned can create any look you want with just a couple of snips.And with nonslip foam grips he don't make the unsightly mistakes he once did with his rusty scissors.Cousin Buford is so taken by Ned's skill with this lopper that he even goes in to get his back and armpits trimmed (of course, Buford's got thyroid problems that seem to kick up during a full moon).

This product has a long name, but it saved our little town.CORONA CLIPPER FL-3460 COMPOUND-ACTION BYPASS LOPPER.You know, Uncle Cy had to have a bypass, but I never figured it had to do with clippers.And all of us here in Skunk Holler thought Coronas were green bottles of beer.Sure proved us wrong, by golly!

A GOOD REPUTATION
This is a solid tool. With hollow fiberglass handles it weighs almost nothing.I do not however recommend this tool for the small yard homeowner.These are very big and awkward loppers. With 24'' handles you really get the reach out of them but,in most cases this size lopper is just too large.It is a fine quality tool that will last a lifetime if maintained properly.If you intend to just putt around the yard or garden doing seasonal pruning. Maybe I was just using it wrong but I managed to snap the entire head off of mine while prying out a stubborn rock from my lawn.It was however a great tool until then.

My garden was a formidable obstacle... that is, until I purchased the Corona Clipper GT3060 Extendable Handle Hoe.

Son of Felco -- on steroids
My older locally-purchased version of this American-made lopper, essentially the same except for the handle attachment and uncoated blade, has served well for more than five years. Precisely-machined forged steel hook and removable blade (pinned like the Swiss Felco cutters) give consistently clean cuts, easy maintenance, and great durability. Really nice loppers
I've had a set of these for years and they work great. The wood handles flex nicely but don't break. Easily cuts through a 1 inch limb and slightly larger. Larger than that get a pruning saw. Also should you break the handles, replacements are easy to attach, two bolts and you are done. ... Read more

broken equipment
The main nut repeatedly falls off and gets lost. My main nut has been lost. I took the lopper to home depot for help but they disassociated themseves from it. All I need is a nut and nut-cover so that the equipment will be useful again. Your design of this thing is very puqish. Help me or I will damn you some kind of way. I think Home Depots policy should more helpful. This is a small piece of equipment. I could visualize bigger problems for bigger equipment.
