1-0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH
I CAN PURCHASE THIS SET AT canadian tire for a lower price and this does not included the exchange.

3-0 out of 5 stars Make sure you really need this
Be aware that many of the items in this set are duplicates of each other. Also, there are only two nutdrivers. The screw guide is good, and it's smaller and easier to use than the one sold separately. Certainly, the quality seems excellent. But really think carefully about whether the two tips included with the screwdriver itself aren't sufficient, because this set just doesn't add that much.

Editorial Review

Ideal for home auto work, DeWalt's 1/2-inch electric impact wrench is a burly, no-nonsense tool that delivers 240 foot-pounds of torque and 2,700 impacts per minute. The tool is well balanced, weighs 7 pounds, and is 10-7/8 inches long. The trigger, a two-finger toggle switch, lets you comfortably rotate between forward and reverse--a feature especially handy for rocking loose stuck nuts. The impact wrench also features a detent-pin retainer that lets you lock a socket on the anvil (to remove, you depress the detent using a small pointed object, then simply pull the socket off). The motor's brushes are easily accessible and replaceable, too, and thanks to DeWalt's advanced brush system, which automatically stops the tool just before the brushes wear out, you'll know when it's time to replace them. All in all, an impact wrench isn't a particularly complex tool: you want one that's solidly built and packs plenty of power. DeWalt's DW290 is exactly that. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Forget it for lug nuts/Auto or Truck use
I could not remove lugs torqued at 95ft/lbs,just sat there. My air impact easly removed them, and I could remove the lugs by hand without a problem. They were torqued with a torque wrench,Husky brand(not a cheap wrench),not rusted and no extension and impact socket was used(craftsman). Tightening was better but not even 95 ft/lbs, and you have to stay on the wrench along time and it will get very hot. I do not tighten with an impact normally but I wanted to see what the tool would do. Tried 3 of them from a local store, could not be an isolated problem, bad design for non woodworking use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool, veryyy durable
I build deluxe redwood and cedar swingsets for a living and use this wrench daily. In fact i dont think anyone anywhere uses a single tool as much as i use this wrench. In an average day i will sink between 300-500 3/8inch lag bolts into relativly wet redwood. i burned out another manufactures gun in 3 weeks last year this lasted me the whole year, went in for dewalt free maintenance service in january and is still running strong. I ve dropped this tool more times than i can count, often use it as a hammer( don't recomend that but in a pinch it works), used it in heavy rain(dewalt says not to but I use a GFI to be safe), and tossed it around my truck in all kinds of conditions and all it does is keep working. One thing that went wrong was the detent pin on the anvil broke, which didn't affect its performanceI just stuck a broken nail in the hole till dewalt got me the replacement. Also its seem s that this gun is a little weak when brand new as I just bought a new one for my helper and it took a about 2 days to get it up to speed with my old one. It now runs fine though and its probably just a case of ait needing a little break in time. This may explain why some people have had trouble un torquing lug bolts, also could be that their lug nuts are really overtigtened by an air impact or a long extension bar. All in all a great tool that I would and have bought again .

Editorial Review

DeWalt's 3-by-21-inch belt sander is a popular choice with do-it-yourselfers and many professionals, as well. It has a 5.2 amp motor with electronic speed control that keeps the belt speed constant under load. The variable-speed dial is easy to use and recessed well enough to prevent unintended adjustments while working; however, it's located near the rear of the handle, making on-the-fly changes a little tricky. DeWalt mounted the dust bag on the front of the sander, and while this allows the tool to be used in tight spaces, we found that the arrangement forced us to work directly above the sander if we wanted to maintain visibility. As the tool heats and cools, expanding and contracting, the self-tensioning system adjusts the belt to prevent slippage. We found it to track well from one operation to the next without requiring much adjustment. This is a great sander for do-it-yourselfers and most professionals, but it's not quite as burly as the biggest 3-by-21-inch belt sanders on the market, so people who intend to use a belt sander for the most strenuous tool testing jobs may want to consider a model with a bigger motor. --Brian Trinen ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad
We use these in a professional environment, where they run several hours a day. My quick thoughts:

1.The weight and balance is good - this is a nice lightweight tool, especially compared to its competitors.

2.The dust collection works adequately, far better than its competitors

3.Durability has been spotty - we have some that have lasted several years, one only lasted 2 weeks before the brushes overheated and melted into the case.

3a.Noisy.

4.In this class of sander, there are few choices which are suitable for professional use.Since we do a lot of delicate furniture work, including veneer sanding, we don't want huge heavy sanders. We value good balance, light weight, dust collection, and durablity. It doesn't cut it in all respects, but its better than the other sanders in this size that we have tried.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful, yet light enough for one hand operation
When I started remodeling, I need to sand the stairs. There are 17 flights covered with varnish, paint under linolium. After stripped the linolium off, I need to sand the threads to bare wood to refinish. These are made of fir, usually they are very easy to sand. But with the varnish and glue left over, I tried all my three sanders, two random orbit sanders, one 1/4 sheet sander. They all work very slow. I got only two flights done after an hour and used many sanding discs and paper. Then I decided to try something else. I have never had or used belt sander before. It seems that's the only hand held sander available for me. So I went to store to compare various belt sanders. I own other DeWalt tools as well as Porter Cable's, so they are the first came to my mind. After comparison, I like the DeWalt one better for its weight and handling. It was a surprise that only took me two hours to finish the rest of the stairs all together and used only one sanding belt (still lot of sanding left on that one belt). Still need to use other sanders to finish off the tight spots. I used one of those "rubber" abrasive belt cleaner when the belt got clogged up with stuff, press the stick on while it's running up side down, the belt gets cleaned and became like new in seconds. It is a very powerful sander, you can gauge the wood easily if not careful, like press hard while moving side ways. But I manage to control it pretty well even with one hand since it's not heavy. It becomes hot after intensive use just like any other power tool. Avoid touching any the metal part is a good idea. The dust bag could've been made of better fabric since the dust will go through the bag and come out during heavy sanding. It catches 90% of the dust though. It would be nice to have a port like their biscuit jointer to hook up ShopVac or dust collector. Porter Cable ones have those for the dust bags. So you can have the choice. I will get the sanding frame add-on for more delicate sanding.

Over all, it's another fine tool that you would expect from DeWalt. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The DeWalt DW983KS-2 combo kit contains two indispensable toolsfor any tool chest--a 1/2-inch drill/driver and a 5-3/8-inch trim saw.Built to handle virtually any application, both the drill/driver andtrim saw utilize DeWalt's 14.4-volt XR battery packs. A DeWaltexclusive, the system combines unbeatable power with extended run timebetween charges. The trim saw weighs just 6-3/4 pounds, delivers 3,000rpm, cuts to a depth of 1-1/2 inches, and provides a 0 to 50 degreebevel capacity. The drill/driver is also lightweight at 5.2 pounds, andoffers three speeds--low, for maximum torque (400 in./lbs.); medium, forstandard jobs; and high, for jobs that require a little extra speed(reaching up to 1,800 rpm, it's up to 29 percent faster than comparablemodels). In addition to both of these powerful tools, the DW983KS-2 kitalso includes a carbide blade, two XR batteries, a one-hour charger, adouble-ended screwdriver bit, and a convenient carrying case, not tomention the peace of mind that comes with the DeWalt name. --CarlThress ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Priced right-great value
I bought this kit to complete a project for my grand-daughter. I really just needed the saw, but the combo price was too good to miss, besides, who doesn't need another cordless drill? The only negative comment I have is that when I cut just a couple of 4x8' sheets of plywood (ripping 8') the battery on the saw needs a boost. Otherwise the saw is light to handle, durable for the job and the blade holds up a very long time. I prefer carbide for all my cutting tools. This combo kit is a great value.

5-0 out of 5 stars just the right size
I'm a carpenter - visited many job sites and worked with lots of other guy's tools too. This size seems to be the best for hauling up and down ladders - in/out basements, crawlspaces, attics....some of the bigger ones get too big!

1-0 out of 5 stars Where is it? Still waiting.....
Well, I too have waited 3 weeks now to get shipment of my order. They keep telling me it is delayed and it is now delayed another week out. I wish that they could at least update their website with an estimated shipping date when you purchase the product. Instead, shipment was estimated at 2-3 days when I purchased the product. They don't want to scare you away from that initial purchase - noooo. But in the end, that business practice will make your customers MUCH more irate than just telling them up front that they'll have to wait for the order. It's made me mad!!Still waiting.... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of type, but more types available
This gadget or the MAG equivalent (both probably made in the same factory but individually branded) are tough carburized steel and well made. If you will be using one size socket for a large number of fasteners, or if you are driving drillpoint screws, you'll be happier with the pin-retainer version of this adapter. It can be used with impact sockets and magnetic-insert sockets, and owing to the pin-shaped retainer the sockets will not pull off the adapter until you want them to.

4-0 out of 5 stars A welcome find when you sometimes need to use a large socket
I was glad to find this item on Amazon.com's website. 1/4" adaptors are so common but the sockets that use that drive only go up to about 1/2". Using this you can go up almost if not to 7/8" which can beuseful. Heck one day my dad and I were working in the basement of our houseand he didn't have a 1/4" adapter handy so WE got out this one andwent to work. WHen I saw this I bought two one for him and one for myself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for the Pro
This is a great drill, but know what you're getting. It has a big motor but only spins up to 850 rpm (which is 1/3 the speed of a "normal" drill). It's perfect for spade bits and hole saws, but anything else should be left for your light duty drill.I'd recommend it; it's a great tool at a reasonable price.

4-0 out of 5 stars A screamer
This is a great tool for the price . One of my guys bought one. It drills pretty well in any material. Except masonry. It's not so fast that you burn your bits in steel. The torque is quite impressive . More than my MilwaukeeMagnum. You could easily hurt yourself with this bad boy. But that meansyou can use some pretty large bits and hole saws with it. Some times whenall your batteries are dead (if you forget to charge them) you need acorded drill just to remember how nice the cordless one are.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very handy accessory
This light has proven to be a real workhorse around the shop. When installing cabinets, getting to hard-to-reach hardware or just doing DIY stuff around the house, it's always helped out. The battery life is very good and the light's tough. I'd recommend it for anyone who owns the DeWalt 14.4v drill. Buy an extra battery just for the light. A simple idea that works well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled with what DeWalt calls "flexibility"
I should say something about DeWalt that not a lot of people know. DeWalt and Black&Decker are one company. So what is behind that black and yellow casing could be Black&Decker!! ( Please don't misunderstand me, I am not saying it is; it could be-what is inside of a Lexus is a Toyota-Don't be fooled by advertising and what other people think ) Many pro. tool users will probably agree with me that DeWalt is not an industrial brand; it is premium household!

Anyway, about this light, I am very happy with the amount of light it produces and the length of the time with one charge. But, there is a problem. The reason why I bought this light is the problem, the flexibility. There is really no flexibility. This light will NOT be flexible as you would think it will. It will loose the balance and will fall. I used it for about a month, got tired of it and got the regular version of this light. That will do anything this "flexible" light does and saves me about 400-500% time on tiring to change the light angle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bright + Tough + Flexible = Very useful
Since I don't really use my drill that often, I thought this might be a good idea to help make use of my investment. This light helps tremendously when working in confined areas (engine compartments), or places where you can't lay a regular flashlight down. The flexible head allows for lots of placement possibilities and the light is blingingly bright.I would definately recommend this to anyone who has a 14.4 volt dewalt tool. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worked well so far
I got this tool after my last drill (a Craftsman 12Volt) was stolen out of my garage.I went back and forth between 14.4 volt and 18 volt drills, but went with the 984K bebause it has a higher peak torque than many other 18V drills. Also, I used the 18V drill, and it's a little heavy to hold over your head for a while.I've used this for drilling holes in metal and wood, and it has performed flawlessly.I'm very happy with this drill.

5-0 out of 5 stars very happy
I purchased the DW984k-2 several months ago and am happy to report that it has performed like a champ. It is a great middle-weight cordless and the hammer function has come in quite handy on several occasions where my corded rotary hammer would have been too much.Perhaps the best feature on this drill is the keyless chuck.Nothing has slipped or skipped so far and I don't expect it will.I highly recommend this drill for anyone who needs a cordless for multiple applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strong as Samson!
I just bought this new drill. It is stronger than my old 18 volt Makita.I have been using it to set bolts in rock.DeWalt is rating the 14.4 at 1/4" diameter in masonry, but I am getting 1/2" holes 2" deep with no trouble. The third gear makes a huge difference when drilling into concrete or rock.Trust me, buy this drill and you won't look back. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars with DW703
Online this is marketed everywhere as compatible with the 703, 706, 708.The actual package only lists the 708.After installing on the 703, I would say they made this for the 708 and discovered it kinda worked for the 703.

The support piece is attached to the two rods through 2 large nuts.Note that you WILL need 2 crescent wrenches to assemble this part. The nuts are designed with a plastic liner on the end that is not grooved, so your first screw-in makes the grooves. The rod is flattened to allow for a crescent wrench to grab it so you can tighten.OK, it works there.

On the other end, the rods fit very loosely into the base of the 703.Most importantly, the 703 is designed so these rods only go in about 3 inches and then hit the base. Therefore there is NO "telescoping" functionality at all. From the minimal instructions, I take it the 708 is not like this and they can slide under the base, but the 703 only allows full extension. They give you screws to tighten down onto the top of the bars, through the base of the saw. These screws are almost impossible to get down in there. You will need a very large flathead screwdriver (at least 5/16" head) to crank this down.I had to clamp on an auto-loc handle onto the screwdriver just to tighten the screw all the way.Same goes for both screws.

So when it's all attached, it's fairly solid so far.But this is a somewhat permanent attachement the way those screws are.I don't want 20 inches sticking out all the time, and I can't telescope it in at all.I guess I'm suposed to keep the large screwdriver and the auto-loc handy whenever I want to attach or take off this thing.Who knows how long those screws will hold tight, then this thing is worthless.

VERY dissapointed in DeWalt on this.I thought they were suposed to be the best.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sloppy fit, could be better
The quality of the components is good. The steel is sturdy and will stand up to lots of use. However, the purpose of the extention is to extend the work surface of the DW708 turntable. When pushed all the way in so it is snug against the saw base, it is about 1/4" too low. When pulling it out, the rods are a sloppy fit and they sag, so the difference between level and the top of the support is even greater; around 1/2".Unless I'm dealing with warped boards (rare) I'm going to have to shore-up the extention with a wedge or two to make up the difference.

I mainly purchased it to use the DW7051 Length Stop, which seems to work okay.Luckily I have the DW723 Miter Saw Stand, which comes with it's own extentions, so I don't need to rely on the DW7080.If I had it to do over again, I would purchase some large steel rods or long bolts to substitute for the DW7080 since I don't need the extention function (which doesn't work so hot anyway).

DeWalt needs to make a quality extention specifically for the DW708 (which is a KILLER saw!), instead of having a generic one that is supposed to fit.The DW708 is a very well engineered tool, and the DW7080 does not do it justice as a companion accessory.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good, not great addition
I bought this mainly so I could use the DW7051 length stop. I will say I didn't have any problems with the self-tapping screws, I was able to put them in with the adjustment wrench that comes with the DW708 saw. I didn't realy need the support as my saw stand has pull out supports for really long pieces, but I do use this for shorter boards. It does seem to be well made, altho I do question the use of aluminum for the rods, seems steel would be stronger ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very sharp
If you wanna cut something, this is kinda kool!

Expensive a bit, but just a little bit (like mine after it touched the blade)

I should have sharpened them myself with a big mac since the meat is so tough so it can sharpen the blade.

Hasta la vista!
Buanaserrata, bonsoir
Have a good night!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Wait Too Long To Change Your Blades!

I experienced a broken gear on my Dewalt planer.Since my planer was out of warranty, I went through the hassle of replacing it myself.

Immediately after doing that, I put a set of these blades on.

What a difference!I had not realized that my old blades had become dull. They were still doing a great job, but what I didn't realize is that the planer was pulling too hard now.It was working too hard to plane the wood with dull blades.

Once I changed the blades, the planer had a completely different sound.Sometimes, the motor speed doesn't even change when the blades hit the wood... that's how much difference the blades made.

And don't worry... the blade height measuring jig that came as part of your DeWalt planer makes the entire process easy as can be.

Don't wait too long, or you may be replacing gears too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch
Purchased this planer a little over 1 year ago, like all of my DeWalt power tools an exellent tool at a reasonable price. (I sound like salesman) I've run about 450bf of 4/4 rough planed red oak through it, but I must admit it's about time for the knives to be sharpend, to no surprise. I work it like you would a much larger non-portable planer and it holds up to the test. The single most thing that impressed me is that straight from the box the factory set-up was perfectly within specs and has stayed that way to this day. It's paid for itself many times over, and if I ever had to purchase another planer, DeWalt would be the first I would consider. Yellow and black are becoming the dominant colors in my shop. ... Editorial Review

Delivering solid performance and serious convenience, DeWalt'sheavy-duty, 18-volt, 1/2-inch drill/driver/hammer drill will do up to2,000 rpm and 34,000 beats per minute, and can produce 450 inch-poundsof maximum sustained torque. The carbide-tipped chuck jaws haveexcellent bit grip. There's also an automatic spindle lock, as well asan antislip comfort grip. Essentially the same tool as DeWalt's T-gripDW988, this hammer drill comes with a pistol grip, which some usersprefer because it makes it easy to put your full force directly behindthe bit. A pistol grip, however, doesn't distribute weight as evenly asa T-grip, so it's not as comfortable to hold, especially over longperiods of time. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Contracter tough cordless drill
First I'll highlight my experience to lend weight to my review.I am a serious DIY'er who occasional does side jobs on my own, and who often gets calls from contracters when they need a hand on a weekend job(My day job is in computers, I'm so ashamed!!).

This drill is a little different than most drills on the market because of its pistol grip design, but don't let that scare you off. That pistol grip lets you apply an incredible amount of pressure directly behind the bit your using. It does take some getting used to, but once you figure out that your index finger and thumb fit perfectly in the two groves along the top of the drill you'll love it.This drill excels for working above your head or below your feet but is very usable in the horizontal plane.

Pros:
1.Monster single sleeve racheting chuck is a joy to use, with the spindle lock it is hands down the best chuck on the market
2.3 speeds is useful as hell. 1 for driving big screws/self feed bits, 2 for driving normal screws and spade bits 3 for twist bits (my recommendations)
3.Hammer drill, I can't say how great it is to not have to go back to the truck to get your hammer drill to drill just 4 holes
4.Inline handle makes it so much easier to apply force directly behind the bit, doesn't end stripping out bits/screws but delays it quite a bit

Cons:
1.Doesn't do stud cavity work easily
2.Speed change can be a little sticky

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Drill!
Good drill indicative of DeWALTS better tools.Very nice combo kit!The pistol grip has the added advantage of being able to apply more force through the bit into the work. This drill has plenty of torque for just about any job and the battery run/charge time ranges from good to great. It's probably easier just to list a couple of improvement areas (nonimpacting overall):
1) The speed range selecting switch needs to be persuaded on occasion to change position.
2) The torque clutch works better on the second and third speed range.
3) The chuck's run out could be a little better, although there is no impact from this when drilling.

All and all this is a great drill package!I'm very happy with my purchase!! ... Read more
