3-0 out of 5 stars Uninspiring
I had one of these for about a year.I own lots of Dewalt cordless tools, and have been generally very happy with them.I use the heck out of my standard 12v drill, so this right-angle drill seemed like a natural addition.I found the body to be pretty large and clumsy, which kind of defeats the idea of getting something for working in confined spots.Because it was hard to hold and manipulate, I had a hard time driving screws without slipping the bit out of the head frequently. After a while, I just gave up on using this and found other ways to get the work done.(If you're interested, I have used a Milwaukee corded "close quarters" drill and really like it.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Handy
I got this on closeout at a local home center for a steal.Didn't think I would really use it much but I now find myself using it all the time.Great for small or awkward spaces.Good battery life.Fits well and balances nicely in the hand. It's pricey but very handy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality and durability
I was amazed at the rate these drill bits chew through metal... I drilled through a 1/4" of a piece of tempered steel in half a minute and through 16ga copper sheet in barely a second. The cobalt bits in the copper were incredible, I did not even have to apply much pressure to get the bit to bite.

Very impressed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bits in a sturdy case
What a great purchase! The bits are sharp and sturdy, and they cut through wood like it's butter. They come to a point at a wide angle, so they're less likely to slide away from your drilling point as you start drilling.

I've only owned them for a few weeks, so I can't attest to how long they'll stay this sharp. Also, I've yet to try drilling through metal.

The set comes with two bits for some of the popular sizes, which is great since I tend to lose or break my 1/8" bit all the time.

The case itself is quite sturdy, but a little oversized. The bits are held firmly in place, so you never open your case after a bumpy car ride to have all 13 bits fall to your feet.If you own a DeWalt drill, it fits snugly in the drill case.

My one complaint is that the sliding lock is really tough to open and close. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Fit Reply
Works perfect with the DW744.

My DW744 manual says to replace the outside washer with the inside washer and use the arbor nut only.Another reviewer had a problem fitting a full size dado with both washers.Check your DW744 book.Dewalt may have changed there manual, so a call to Dewalt will get you a new manual.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy Fit
The insert fits fine but the accompaning instructions point out a minorproblem not addressed with the original DW744 instructions:You cannot puta full 13/16" dado stack on the arbor and still use the large outsidewasher which acts as somewhat of a blade stabilizer. You might get a3/4" stack on using the washer and lock nut, but to use the extrachipper(s) you'll have to secure it with only the lock nut (or anaftermarket thinner washer/stabilizer).Probably not a big deal but DWcould have easily solved the problem with a little more thought in theirengineering process regarding the arbor length.

4-0 out of 5 stars dado throat plate
I feel that this really makes the saw complet.i don't see the need with haveing this attachment that you need to have a full size table saw.The Dewalt team have out done them selves with this and the whole saw it self. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The DeWalt DW621 is the best plunge router in its class. So saythe editors of two leading woodworking magazines, PopularWoodworking and American Woodworker. And why not? It's thefirst professional-grade plunge router with built-in dust collection. It runs quietly but efficiently on a powerful 9 amp, 2-horsepowermotor. Its plunging action is smooth. It maintains variable speeds of8,000 to 24,000 rpm. Its controls are easy to work. It's mountable. Ithas a safety lock on its on/off switch for added protection. And thelist goes on. Now, whether such features qualify the DW621 as the bestis a matter of debate, but one thing is certain: this workhorse of arouter is going to carry its weight in virtually any shop or garage.--Carl Thress ... • Unique, built-in dust extraction removes dust through unit's column
  • Electronic variable speed provides constant feedback so the motor won't slow down in heavy cuts

3-0 out of 5 stars Good if bought on clearance, bad if paid full price
Pluses - Has a good motor, spins almost like a dentist drill. Good plunge action. I like its size. Good speed control. Good dust collection.

Minus - Base is poorly designed and I can't use a straight edge with it. The casting of the base is rough and not straight and the base plate edge is not a good reference for the center. My Porter Cable 8529 base plate is better referenced. At least it lands on a 32 inch gradient on my strait edge. I will make a base plate to use in conjunction with a bushing so that I can use a staight edge for dados in plywood.

The bushing center is off by about .025" toward the right (fixed handle). It is at least centered between front and back.

I hate the plunge lock mechenism. I want the handle to act like a handle that I can grab without fear of unlocking the plunge lock and having the router pop up. This would be real bad if using a splining bit or a keyhole bit.

I like the position of the PC 8529 dust collector better. The dewault dust port extension gets in the way when inverting the router to change bushings, bits.

I like the PC 8529 height adjustment better. The Dewault has two height adjusters. The micro adjust knob on the Dewalt is for veneer work or tweeking once you've set the main height adjustment and made a test cut. Also, one turn of the micro adjust doesn't correspond to a convenient gradient like 1/8". The PC height adjustment is one continuous thread and each turn is 1/8". Although cumbersome turning the knob, you can get 59/64" without a test cut. The PC height adjust is however, better suited for the router table

5-0 out of 5 stars Unlike others...
I find this to be an excellent router.I have a support arm over my workbench that I use to keep hoses and cords out of my way and with the dust connection at the top of the router, this combination really clears up the work area.I use the router mainly for inlays and dovetails.I occasionally use it for trimming work on a pattern where I can't get the piece & pattern on my shaper.I've not experienced any problems with power.

All-in-all, I'm very pleased.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality control problems
I bought a DW621 from Amazon less than 2 years ago.The motor/shaft bearings have been replaced 3 times - twice by the local repair shop and the last time by shipping it to DeWalt. The bearings just failed again. The tool has (maybe) 90 minutes' run time total. It has some good points, such as the plunge operation and handles (even the switch after becoming accustomed to it).But repeated bearing failure in home workshop use tells me there is some basic flaw either in the design or in this particular tool.I have other DeWalt tools and this is the only one that has been a problem. My guess is if you get one of the good ones, it will work well and last a long time.If you get a lemon, don't waste any time repairing it. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars burned up twice
I bought the dewalt 871 14" chop saw because I was told it would cut metal. It cuts thin walled stock, but it doesn't cut a 3" mechanical tubing with 1/2" wall or 3" solid stock like promised.I could barely put pressure on the blade to keep it cutting.I don't feel like replacing the motor again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the high price
I've had this for ~ a couple of years now. It's ok, and has decent power. It trips the ciruit breaker constantly when I try to cut through 1/4" square though, which gets annoying. It'll cut angle or thin stuff pretty quickly though.

But worst of all, is that weak miter clamp.First, it's hard to set it at the angle you want b/c you're never sure if you're exactly hitting the angle you want..But when you do finally set it, after you tighten the work down, the whole clamp will move, and now you're at a different angle.Cheap!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst power tool I have ever owned!
I bought this because I liked my brother's DW-874.Bad move. This thing is a piece of junk. The clamp is horrible, It comes loose, the screw striped out after 6 months. If you make 45 degree cuts the back of the clamp is so far back the blade can not cut all the way through the metal, to correct this you have to put an extra piece of material behind what you are cutting to space it out far enough to cut through. It vibrates no matter what you cut.I've used saws with less horse power ratings that have more power. It trips breakers all the time on circuits that don't trip when I use my 110v welder. If I had it to do over I would buy a hack saw! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Dewalt Coffee Break Charger
This charger is great! I have several 14.4v cordless Dewalt tools-some with 5 year-old batteries. These of course have lost some of their charge capacity. It is frustrating waiting for the standard hour-long recharge when I use the batteries faster than they can be charged. The 9117 helps me stay busy-at least I have to find another excuse for slacking. The 3-stage charging aspect of rejuvenation (overnight charging) yielded a noticeable increase in power for 2 of my older batteries.Since batteries are about $54 each, increasing their life expectancy appeals to my wallet. If you have 2 or more tools going at the same time (drill, screw-gun, saw) this charger will ensure your job keeps going!

4-0 out of 5 stars No Tune Up Feature In this Charger.
This is an excelent choice for the contractor or DIY that uses cordless tools all the time. If you need to get your tool powered back up fast, this one will do it on your coffee break or while using a spare battery. The only drawback: For the steep price, I would also expect to see a tune up feature included with this charger as is in the DW9116. Still, time is money and 15 min charges translate into "0" time wasted if you also have at least 1 spare battery. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Design blunder
Dewalt made a mistake in the design of this adapter in that the port has a diameter of 1 1/2 inches and therefore cannot be attached to a standard 1 1/4 inch vacuum hose. The package clearly states that this adapter does connect to a 1 1/4 inch hose.I contacted Dewalt but they have not responded.I contacted Amazon and they promptly sent me another one which is just as useless as the first.I tried using a 'universal adapter' and that would not fit it either. If Dewalt ever corrects the design, I will attempt to post the news here.Until then, don't buy this unless you can connect to a 1 1/2 inch (outside diameter) port.

5-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER HIGH QUALITY ACCESSORY FROM DEWALT
Found this DeWalt D6100 tool bag a great accessory for my D51823 clipped head nailer. The nailer fits inside the bag, slightly at an angle, but with additional space for clips of nails and accessories I need in conjunction with its use. This high quality tool bag is definetly rugged enough and constructed in such a manner that it will withstand the weight of the items I need to do the job.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Tool Bag
If you've been thinking about getting this bag, but hesitate because of price. GET IT! You will not be disappointed.

At first I thought it might be too small for my needs. But the size is just right. I've been able to fit a cordless drill, reciprocating saw, jig saw, two batteries, charger, hammer, 12x12 box of bits and plenty more. If they had made it any bigger you'd probably stick more in it and not be able to carry it around.

I would consider it more a "toolbox bag" than a "tool bag". It is very firm and stands on its own without any tools in it. To say it is "Heavy Duty" may be an understatement. The quality is top-notch. Tool bags are wimpy. This is definitely not wimpy.

Well worth the money, IMHO.

5-0 out of 5 stars good bag

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for show
I use the saw with out a bag. I use a piece of 90 abs to direct the sawdust into a rubbish bin or just pile it up where it lands and clean up at the end of the day.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good in function
I have this bag on my DW708 and I have found it works best inverted with a slight tilt . A wider catch inlet would be an improvement .

3-0 out of 5 stars You could call it 3 1/2 stars...
I bought this blade stabilizer because I own the DeWalt DW746 table saw, and I thought that I would buy the stabilizer made by my saw company.Prior to installing this thing on my saw, I verified its 'flatness' on a granite register plate (which is flat to within +/- .0001").I was happy to find it to be very flat.

This stabilizer does a very good job of reducing blade vibration and thus helps to deliver noticably smoother cuts.My only beef with it is that it is too big!At 5 inches in diameter, it effectively limits the depth of cut I get from my 10 inch saw blade. When I try to raise the blade all the way, it stops short by an inch or so when the stabilizer bumps into the underside of the throat plate on my saw! When I checked a few of the other blade stabilizers on the market I discovered that Freud's is only 3 1/2 inches in diameter but Forrest makes its 'stiffeners' in 4, 5, and 6 inch sizes.

The bottom line here is that this DeWalt blade stabilizer does its job, but be prepared to sacrifice some cutting capacity! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get one, you'll save money and do better work
When driving screws, you normally slip off the screw on occasion, driving the drive bit into your project. Also, when your drive bit wears out, they are expensive to replace.

The magnetic drive guide solves those problems and another.
1) It uses short, cheap bits - so you spend less on replacement parts.
2) You can hold the outer barrel of the guide (it doesn't spin with the drill) so you can guide in long screws without the bit slipping off.
3) It's magnetic, so it holds screws. You can point your drill down, and the bit stays on.
4) The outer barrel makes using slotted screws more manageable (although I usually only use it to take them out and replace them with phillips screws).

I've been using them for the 10(?) years that they've been on the market. I've worn a few of them out, but I try and never drive a screw without one.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a much needed third hand!
I first discovered these drive guides as part of a deck building pack offered by a local home center. That was at least eight years ago and I have been using these ever since. They do what they are designed to do - allow you to drive screws one handed.I have had great success driving every length of screw up to and including 4" with this driver and my 9.6V DeWalt cordless drill.I have never worn one of these out while using it for its designed purpose, but when I used it in a pinch to drive hundreds of metal barn siding fasteners (I removed the bit and was using the guide as a socket drive) the end mushroomed out and lost its shape.

In the end, when you are on the end of a tall ladder and you would rather be holding onto the ladder than holding onto the screw so you can drive it, this is the tool for you. Also, if you will be driving a lot of screws in wood and you don't want the skin of your fingertips worn off as you steady each screw for driving, buy one of these! ... I used this blade on a recent roofing job. To cut a groove in a chimney, while installing some flashing. This blade turns brick into a cloud of red dust leaving a very precise and clean cut. I was more than pleased with the results. Two thumbs up on this blade. From my experience it goes through brick like a hungry monster.I do recommend this blade highly. Now get out there and cut some bricks. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars NOT AN ANGLED GUN
I purchased this gun thinking I was going to receive an ANGLED gun (seeing that is what the description says). I would rate the gun itself as a 5, but seeing it really isn't what they advertised, I gave it a 2. Company was good about taking it back, but it was too much of a hassle, and I needed one to use. They also said they changed the description, but apparently not. ... Read more
