It's ok.
Purchased this axe after reading the reviews.A 'magic bullet' it's not.Compared to my old traditional maul, it performed a bit better.It does have a very sharp edge.Now, I have used the axe only to split wood (oak) and not to cut down anything.So, it might be fine for that purpose (I prefer a chain saw, myself).Sorry, I must break the trend and give this an average score.

Amazing Axe
I'm not an axe guru by any means, but I needed to chop down some trees, and saw this axe and it's great reviews when it was on sale.I bought it, and it is simply amazing.It takes down branches, stomps so easily.My friend loved it too.We got a kick out of using it and chopped down the ugly trees in my front yard.A great tool for the gardener/firewood splitter.

Great axes, but there's a better one
Fiskars makes incredibly good axes. The problem with this model is that the head is heavier (4 1/4 lb) than necessary for this type of axe. The similar 7859 model has a 2 1/4 lb head. I find this splits big wood as well as my old 6 lb maul. My wife loves the light weight. I'd give the 7859 five stars, and hope that Amazon starts carrying it soon. ... Read more

Portable, light weight, effective
I purchase a saw to fit in a small toolbox on a small tractor / riding mower. I keep it with me to cut branches that grow low. (You know the kind that hit you in the head when out mowing the grass). Now I stop (hopefully before getting hit with an un-seen branch) and cut off the culprit. Its small enough with a tight enough blade pitch to cut small branches, and large enough to cut branches as large as about 1-3" before you'll want a bow saw or the like. It folds small enough to safely carry in your pocket while also hand carrying a large pruner or other tools.

I bought this because I mixed up the brand name of what I was actually looking for, but I found it to be excellent for what I need. It fits in my bucket with all my other garden tools and it's the only saw I have that I can stick in my back pocket. Great product, I would recommend it as a must have item.

This is one sharp [thing]
I got one of these last year and have pruned many trees with it and it' still sharp as a sonofagun. This is the only pruning saw you need. I've cut through branches 6"+with great results; nice neat and clean cuts. This saw is so excellent I bought another one this year for when I lose the other one. excellent trimmer!!! i have a couple of hedges that are "a few feet" out of reach of my cordless trimmer. i looked around for awhile and all i saw were these ENORMOUS "telescopic" trimmers with dangling strings that looked IMPOSSIBLY "un-wieldy". with the aid of my stepladder i was able to EFFORTLESSLY trim branches at the top of my tallest hedges and the lower regions of the trees in my yard. you can cut the limbs SIMPLY by pulling the "ball-end" of the trimmer OR (in closer corners) the sliding-handle midway up the shaft. IN EITHER CASE the cuts are EFFORTLESS. perhaps it's the "chain drive" of the cutting mechanism. ALL IN ALL,..this is a QUALITY tool. do you REALLY need a HEAVY "extension" trimmer that weighs in a 10-15 pounds?? (like me) maybe not. the Fiskar is 2 lbs. (tops) and is EASY to handle whilst navigating an average ladder AND it stores away easily in a closet/shed AND it cuts through moderately sized twigs and limbs LIKE BUTTER . PERFECT i say...just PERFECT.

Here's one thats not gonna break!
I had a cable driven long pruner, and besides the fact that it ... near broke my hand to clip a large branch with it, the thing was fragile.I used to live on nearly and acre of property with a row of pines along the back.They would get all brown near the bottom so I would try and prune them up to about the point where they could get enough sun to stay green. To do that you need a pruner with a little reach to it?

I saw this model on TV and hunted it down, finding it first on Amazon.I could barely believe the price quoted on the TV show, (it wasn't a commercial, it was a how-to show) they said the stick only cost about [$$$].Its not quite that cheap, but the quality here is excellent.It uses a chain, not unlike a bike chain, to drive the extended cutter. It uses a slider, leverage system to pull the chain to make the cuts.The cutting blades themselves are very sharp and can be adjusted to any angle.This becomes an important concern when you have about a dozen pine trees to trip.

The stick will also do fine when you don't need the extended length.Remember those hedge trimmers that looked like a huge pair of scissors? I used to hurt my wrists every year, trying to get enough momentum to trim the bushes in front of the house I was renting.If you tried to cut too, slow it would get stuck, too fast, and the handles would stop abruptly hurting my wrists!This cutter, although smaller than a hedge trimmer, cut so quick and easily that it made trimming the bushes a pleasure.I could even get lazy, and sit down in a chair, and do them from a distance. Try that with your electric model! The bushes never shaped up so well before.

The blades will cut close to a one-inch branch, and I haven't had to sharpen it yet.Just keep the chain free of dirt, and keep a little mower oil on it, or cycle spray and it continues to work like new.Sometimes they just make a tool that becomes the defacto standard for a while, and for my money this is it.Don't risk cutting your arm off with a chainsaw. Okay, but not great
I find the clip on this item is not too secure.The pouch is large, which is nice if you have large clippers.But mine are the same size as perhaps 95% of those on the market and they tend to fall out when kneeling in the garden.I purchased this item almost two years ago, and while it's still in great shape, I find I use a bucket caddy now to store my clippers with my other tools.

Never lose your pruner again
Before I bought this I averaged one new pair of pruners every six months because I would misplace them. God only knows where they all went, I sure don't. In the last two years I have had the same rose pruner thanks to the sheath. Over my life this will pay for its self many times over.

Excellent Sheath For Other Things Too?

Good steel, strong efficient design

scissors that won't let you down.
The Fiskars 9637 garden shears are tops if you are looking for a pair of scissors that can take alot of abuse and still be sharp.I use mine in a flower shop where I can be cutting anything from woody stems to wire to the most delicate flowers and ribbon. The stainless steel blades stay clean even after alot of use.The handles fit perfectly in your hand(provided you are right-handed). [If you are left-handed the Fiskars 9474 are almost the same with the exception that the blades can be taken apart]. The serrations on the blades make cutting things much easier than smooth edged blades because the serrations hold the thing you are cutting where you want it. The overall size of these shears is just about perfect because they fit nicely in the back pocket of a pair of jeans. What this means is you can have them at hand when you need them. At the low price get a few pairs and give your friends each a pair-they will thank you

Great Hatchet
This is a great hatchet for camping.It is the same as the Gerber Sport Axe (same company).The big difference is the price:Gerber $50, Fiskars $20.Well Gerber also comes with a little blade cover.By the way check your local Lowes for this Hatchet.It is $19.99.This axe is a must have for backpacking, paddling, or car camping.

Like Butter
I got one of these axes for my dad for Christmas and it was worth every penny.He's getting older but he still has to split wood for his wood stove to heat his house, so I thought it would be a practical gift.He loves it and even I tried, on Christmas day and many times after that.If you split would and are tried of your handles breaking, dull blades, and blistered hands, get this axe.

This should really be called a hatchet. I bought one primarily to make kindling out of logs that had alread been split up. The edge failed to penetrate the wood well, either because it was too dull or because of the material. The wedge shape was too narrow to split the wood off. These are great pruners.
My new Fiskars loop-handle pruners arrived today.I was attracted to these by the loop handle because I thought I could tie a cord to the loop, saving me a trip down the ladder to pick them up when I drop them.I was pleasantly surprised by the compactness of these pruners.They are very comfortable in my hand.They also do a very good job of snipping off branches up to about 3/8" in diameter.I managed to get through a larger (a little over 1/2" in diameter) branch, but it was hard work and seemed to stress the tool.I was pruning a plum tree, and the wood is pretty tough.Maybe on softer stuff they will easily get through the 3/4" branches as Fiskars says they will.Anyway, I am glad I bought them for the work I do. ... It didn't always ratchet either!

Fiskars Ratcheting Anvil Pruner
Works fine on branches 1/2 inch or less. It is rated to 3/4 inch, but branches much over 1/2 inch it became hard to get it to ratchet and the blades tended to bend. Don't try on large branches
This unit works well for small branches. The light weight is appreciated, and the stainless blade is a useful upgrade as standard blades rust from the tree sap. But I used mine on some heavier branches, still within the recommended diameter range, and something slipped so that the blade no longer touches the anvil. The tool therefore is practically useless, as you do not get a clean cut. There is no way to adjust or fix this pruner when that happens. And the lifetime warranty is of dubious value, as you must send the tool back at your expense, plus keep and be able to find the original receipt. They should model their warranty after Craftsman.
