    Editorial Review

If you're like us, you've crammed more tools into your workshop than can really fit. Luckily, an HTC universal mobile base (or two) can make a world of difference. The base is sturdy and easy to assemble, plus--unlike any other mobile base on the market--it adjusts to fit virtually any large woodworking machine, forming squares from 12 by 12 to 36 by 36 inches and rectangles as big as 20 by 52 inches. Holes at 1-inch increments let you choose any shape in between, and wheels at all four corners make it easy to maneuver. Roll one tool in; roll another tool out. Moving equipment around a crowded shop has never been this easy. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Myles Hurlburt/Wausau WI
I had purchase this for my JET Table Saw. It works great. It worked so well I purchased another one for my Bansaw. The flexibilty in moving your tools around is a great convienence. I would recommend this product to anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not for Heavy Table Saws
I bought an HTC2000 mobile base to go under a 400 lb. table saw.It couldn't raise the table saw comfortably even though it is rated to handle that much weight.I ended up swapping with the big Shop Fox base that's rated at 600 lbs. from my band saw and put the HTC2000 on the band saw.It handles the 200 lbs. of the band saw just fine. The HTC2000 is a good mobile base, but I wouldn't put over 300 lbs. on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to do
I couldn't pass up a 1HP 4-speed 14" HF bandsaw for a little over $200 on sale. I realized the need for mobility of this tool in my shop and looked for reasonably priced mobile stands. The HTC2000 is rated for much more weight than I needed and would accomodate a larger base of another tool if it didn't work out for the bandsaw.

No problem - just one 14" brace front and back and one 18" each side made the stand fit perfectly. It takes a few minutes to put all the nuts and bolts in but the metal is strong and the wheels roll smoothly. When the base is not elevated for moving, there are rubber feet that keep the base steady. The two swivel casters have one step lever each instead of one center lever for raising. I don't see a problem with using it on a closed base bandsaw; the low mounted motor weight is more than the higher weight. I think the base is made well and does what it is supposed to do. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not the most stable base
I acquired the HTC1000 mobile base for over a year for use with my 14 inch closed base Jet bandsaw. This base attracted me because the construction appeared to be sturdy and it was recommended by the sales personnel at Woodcraft where I made the purchase. One of my reasons for selecting this base was the fact that it had four points of contact for stability.

Assembly was a bit complicated but not difficult. I had the base together in about an hour.

Unfortunately, once I had the saw on the base, I was not impressed with the base's performance. The frame of the base is constructed of rather thin pieces of angle iron. When the casters are disengaged, the base should be more stable. However, the two rigid contacts that engage the floor are secured by a couple of L-shaped angle brackets. These do not seem to be sturdy enough for the job and tend to flex considerably during use.The result is a wobbly bandsaw.

I have since purchased the Shop Fox G7314 Heavy-Duty Mobile Base.If you can compare the two side by side you can see that the Shop Fox is of far more substantial construction. The brackets supporting the casters are larger and much thicker. The rails on the Shop Fox are rectangular cross section tubes.All-in-all it makes for a much more rigid base.I have placed a 300-lb contractor-style table saw on the Shop Fox and have had nary a wobble out of it.

On the plus side, the cam levers to raise and lower the base can be easily operated with your toe. When raised, the base rolls easily and is quite maneuverable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super easy and super good.
This base took less than an hour to assemble and it makes my 300 pound table saw move with ease. When not engaged, the saw is rock solid steady.

3-0 out of 5 stars Finished unit great - Assembly experience a pain
First, to be positive, I agree with the other reviews that the finished product is a nice mobile base.I ordered mine for my Jet 12" bandsaw and it is a good fit and plenty strong.

My issue is with the assembly experience. As others say in their reviews the assembly instructions leave something to be desired.I just don't see why companies don't take an hour and build one of their own products up while reading their own instructions. The problem is they know too much and assume things that aren't written.A minor annoyance was that the numbers of nuts, bolts, washers, etc. didn't match with the quantities listed in the parts list.In the end I had enough of everything but I'd like to have at least what is listed. But my BIG gripe is the fit of the side metal brackets into the corner brackets.Maybe I got unlucky and got some brackets that were out of tolerance but with the side brackets tight against the corner brackets the holes still didn't line up.I ended up having to drill some of the holes a bit larger to get the bolts through.

A good finished product and the price is right but not a particularly happy assembly experience. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Finished Product 4 Stars - Installation on PM66 1 Star
Now that the unit is FINALLY installed on my PM66 I'm happy with it. PM66 owners beware - installation is NOT straightforward. Required cutting off section of the frame that hangs from the saw cab to avoid interfering with travel of the blade guard mounting post. The unit also had significant problems with powdercoat buildup interfering with installation of hardware and smoothness of pivoting mechanisms that had to be scraped away to get the unit functional. One fellow member of a WW forum I frequent said he told them of the PM66 guard post interference problem 12 years ago, yet I still had to deal with it.
In total I figure it took about 7 hours to get the unit installed. I should note that other PM66 owners I've heard from and other reviews here say differently - that's because it appears HTC freely changes the specs on this model. For ex: an easy PM66 install I saw pics of have a 4-bolt lower mounting arm vs the 2-bolt on mine, and black framing vs my white framing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Tablesaw Addition
I installed the HTC outfeed rollers on my Powermatic 66 Tablesaw this afternoon. Everything went together as explained in the instruction manual and all the parts were there. This addition will make ripping larger panels alot easier.I have had some bad experiences with HTC products in the past, but I am very pleased with this product.Assembly and adjustment was simple and took about 1 hour.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tablesaw addition!
The Roller system is a excellent piece of equipment! It took a while to adjust the height of the rollers to the table. When I did, all rollers were flat with the table. The only downfall of this product is customer service! I had a defective part when assembling. Called 5 weeks ago and still have not recieved a replacement for the defective part! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars MUCH BETTER THAN THE "UNIVERSAL" BASE
I purchased this base at my local woodworkers store after trying one of the so called "Universal" mobile bases. No matter how I configured the universal base, I was not happy with the way it fit the machine base, I returned it and bought the OEM. The Jet mobile base is better constructed, heavier materials, and fits the saw base much better. I replaced the swivel wheel with one of Grizzly's locking casters of the same size, because their lock also locks the swivel feature. Idrilled some holes in the base, and bolted the saw to the base. I don't know that this is needed, but it doesn't take much time and I believe in "suspenders and belt". The base moves the saw well and I have experienced no tipping or lateral movement when sawing. I generally just lock the swivel caster and have at it.
I was told at the woodworker store to make sure and mount it with the swivel caster to the rear of the machine (as in the picture on this page), and to slide the base of the saw as far forward in the mobile base as I could get it. This puts the table almost directly over the dual wheels and precludes tipping. I followed that advice and am pleased with the result.
They also told me that this was an improved model over last years, but didn't say how it was improved. I gave the base 4 stars instead of 5, because of the initial cost and the poor quality of the swivel caster. I am happy with the overall performance, fit and finish and would reccommend this base to anyone, over one of the cheaper "universal bases".

    5-0 out of 5 stars Mooove !
Small or large shop, it is necessary to move things around.
HTC makes great products...the welding, the paint job, the hardware - all are of good quality, if assembled and tightened properly you should have no problem.
I was so satisfied with this Band Saw Mobile Base, I also purchased the HJTS-761-X (Style B1) for my Jet Contractors Table Saw. WOW! Now that was by far the best investment; my shop seems half again as large. Note: I would advise against purchasing ANY of the small (Style J) mobile bases for table saws (too unstable), even if you don't have a 30 or 52 inch extension buy the Style B1.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better than nothing
The rear wheels are cheap, fairly small and don't turn very well. The plastic knobs to lock the rear wheels are also cheap, a bit hard to turn, and will probably wear out soon. The front wheel's caster hardware is also flimsy and 2 of the 4 carriage bolts broke off during assembly while I was tightening them.

Keep in mind that this is a tricycle design. As such it teeters a little so be careful not to apply too much horizontal force. Also, the front wheel is a caster type roller and even though you can keep it from rolling, you can't prevent it from twisting.

This base is only worth half the price being asked for it and I recommend it only if you cannot find an alternative. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly manufactured junk
What can you expect from an item that costs less than $27.oo? You should be able to expect that the three main pieces would fit together! With only one height adjustment screw knob and one bolt through a welded bracket it should be easy. Unfortunately, the bracket was welded out of line and the two bolt holes were drilled out of line. After hammering the brackets into alignment with the leg it is welded to, and hammering the bolt through the two holes that don't line up, you are left with a pigeon-toed stand (the feet are not parallel). The legs would only open up about a foot until one leg hit the other causing the unit to be very unstable. The only remedy is to brace one leg while you pull the other and actually bend (cave in) the square metal leg. After getting the unit to stand up, I took my hand and spun the roller and watched in amazement as it bobbled up and down as it spun around. This was not caused by the holes that hold the roller pins being drilled too large (they are), but because the pins are not accurately centered in the middle of the roller. I have never seen so much wrong with such a simple device. This was to have been a companion to another roller stand I have, but I guess I will go back to Harbor Freight and buy another one of theirs. You should too! It is cheaper, and it works right out of the box.

5-0 out of 5 stars works as advertised
I bought two of these for use with my table saw and am generally satisfied.I give it 5 stars, however there are some limitations of the overall design approach.I use the rollers instead of out-tables for my tablesaw. This is fine for cutting most pieces, but for full plywood sheets (4'x8') you really need full out-tables. What happens is the sheet simply does not balance on two roller stands and the whole thing gets unwieldy. But it's fine for ripping 2x4s or partial plywood sheets. ... Read more

Tarps kept in moisture and caused rust on my machinery. Plastic sheets fell off every time I turned on the air cleaner. So I tried one of these Tool Saver covers and quickly bought more for all my shop tools. 3-0 out of 5 stars Dosen't Fit The 60B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not much for writing these reviews...After having this base for 4 days waiting for the jointer to come in, I finally picked up the jointer from the freight company!!! I am really ticked off at amazon and one other reviewer for saying this base fits the 60B...I can promise you it is too small....I dont know the base size of the 6 inch Powermatic but I measured the 8 inch base on my jointer and it's right under 24 inches X 18 inches...I rounded it up to the next inch, it's only a quarter inch smaller each way...The base is built nice and I am really disappointed that it doesn't fit!!! Amazon, wake up and stock the powermatic mobile bases on your site!!!!!! I'm sure that this base would probably fit the 6 inch powermatic, but don't order it for the 8 inch or you will be in the same boat I'm in...I now have a 400lb machine and no way to move it untill I get the right mobile base!!! I hope this helps someone out!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Ditto the above reviews
One thing to add is be careful trying to tighten the carriage bolts that hold the front swivel in place. They are cheap, soft metal and I broke two of them trying to tighten them into the round holes they go in. Carriage bolts in round holes is a poor design. Front wheel/brake is kinda Mickey Mouse also, but is does work.

4-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied customer
I bought this HTC base for my Powermatic 8" jointer. It was easy to assemble, the wheels work well, and it is easy to lock the wheels in place. The only thing holding it back from five stars is that there is that there is a space of about one inch on the two ends of the jointer base and the HTC mobile base that tends to collect woodshavings, but this really is not a problem. All in all I feel I got my money's worth and would buy another HTC product based on my experience with this mobile base. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Much better than any old tarp, any old day!
I used to use tarps in my old workshop, but they would hold moisture in, so I had to resort to keeping a layer of talcum powder on the surfaces of the tools to absorb some of the moisture away.

As I live in the South Jersey Pinelands, where it has been getting very humid lately, the moisture doesn't get trapped under the cover, but "breathes" right through, just like a top quality car cover, with the difference that it actually gets used regularly.

Oh, by the way, I still do the talcum powder thing, as it is an excellent non-staining lubricant for woodworking tools... better than light machine oil or waxes, both of which can stain the wood being machined.

5-0 out of 5 stars Protect your investment
Let's face it. The chance of any married guy getting a new machine becausethe old one is rusty or dusty is pretty slim. You've got to look after whatyou have. With that in mind, these covers do the job well! The jumbo easilycovers my table saw with outfeed or my 16" bandsaw. The fabric isheavy yet flexible, so you can easily toss it right out like spreading ablanket across your bed. Each corner has a magnet sewn in, so you canfasten it to any ferrous metal surface and it'll stay put. Dust can beshaken right off outside, and the cover protected my Laguna BS from arecent roof leak. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Incomplete, poor quality, flimsy
I wish I had read the reviews on Amazon before purchasing this item. One of the holes for the brake lock screws was not completely tapped. The hardware for the extension wing was not included. The unit flexes when moved.

I tapped the hole myself, bought some nuts and bolts, and made it work. However, I wish I had purchased the Shop Fox portable base instead.I saw one under the same table saw a few days ago at a Woodcraft store and it appeared to be of much higher quality.

I read all the reviews at Amazon.com on this item and still did not believe that the HTC mobile base could be as bad as some folks say it is. After receiving it, I can say that the reviews were right. Without leveling bolts, the base is useless and the wheel lock-downs are made of cheep materials. The base can be unstable on uneven floors. I stood on the center rail that holds the extended table and my 155 Lb weigth caused the base to sag. This was before the saw was placed on it. HTC said I have 30 days to return it with no questions asked. I would except that I invested [money] and two days to beef it up and put levelers on the thing...

1-0 out of 5 stars Look Elsewhere for a Stand
I completely agree with Michael R Steffes' (Plano, TX United States) review of this stand.A number of less expensive tool stands are on the market that will give equal or better service and are a lot easier to assemble.30 minutes really did turn into a couple of frustrating hours.

A number of pre-drilled holes do not line up when attaching the legs to the corner supports - redrilling to fit was necessary. For $50 it would seem that a second shelf that fit would not be too much to ask.It also seems that some spare Allen cap screws and nuts could be included - I striped the heads of a couple of screws trying to assemble this thing - and that the top could be pre-drilled to accept the corner pieces - a paper template is provided.

The top is an integral part (inherently weak) of the design rather than an addition to a structurally sound frame as is the case with other stands I've had experience with.

In short, this "deluxe" stand is overpriced, very frustrating to assemble, and of questionable design.Look elsewhere!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very nice, sturdy table
This table was a pleasure to assemble. All of the holes lined up perfectly. The instructions were clear, and I had no parts left over. The template provided for drilling the leg bracket mounting holes in the table top lined up perfectly with the holes in the brackets. I cut the extra paper off the edges of the template so that I could line it up exactly with the table top when I marked the holes. Although I have not installed a shelf yet, the brackets appear to line up very well, and I do not forsee any trouble in doing it. I was really amazed to read other reviewers comments about the assembly problems which they had encountered. I had none. Maybe HTC has redesigned the table.

1-0 out of 5 stars HTC, what were you thinking?
Having purchased and assembled four HTC-2000 mobile bases (a well-engineered and well-executed product), I felt comfortable selecting the HBT 330 kit. I begin this review with my conclusion: while the HTC-2000 clearly got all the attention of HTC's A-list product developers, it seems this HBT 330 table drew the B-team, or possibly just a gaggle of interns.

Sadly, I had neglected to check the customer reviews here prior to placing my order.

Don't waste your time with the provided drilling template, because, due to the way the leg receivers are formed, only one of the four holes per corner piece will line up. Better to just place each one and mark.

You will struggle to assemble the legs to the receivers because, again, the holes aren't registered properly in the mating pieces. A 20-minute job becomes a 2-hour exercise in frustration not experienced since the 1950's, a time when ill-fitting stuff from southeast Asia was the norm. Compound angles seem to be a challenge to HTC's production operations.

You're invited to add a second shelf which you can mount to the frame provided by the cross members. Had the product development team been required to include said shelf in the kit, they might have recognized the problem with this: none of the corner miters are coplanar. I don't know if the forming brake operator had a bad day, or the brake needs truing up, or -- again -- the engineers put the holes in the wrong place. The result is, no shelf is gonna lay flat on that frame.

Had this been my first HTC product purchase, it would have also been my last. C'mon, HTC, we know you can do better. For a [low] street price, you should be able to afford a few engineering cycles to get this right. There are other stands on the market for less money that screw together better. Ridgid includes one for free with each surface planer they sell, and that stand goes together like this one only wishes it could. ... Read more

This gadget will work fine if you're drilling in something like thin baseboard molding, etc. or other light weight stuff.Any thing heavier than a 2x4 you can forget about decent support. You have to make an allowance on the height of your support to compensate for the swag you are going to get because of the weight.I wish I had bought a floor support stand instead.

    3-0 out of 5 stars Great idea...but...
I've been using the HTC PM-128 Drill Press Support for a year or so and I think its a great idea. The problem I have with the PM-128 is its lack of rigidity and strength.I've never been able to use it for accurate drilling simply because it bends quite easily, especially when the arms are near full extension.Itsdifficult to get the rollers to be coplanar with the drill press table because the steel tubing twists and racks.I know, you are probably saying: for [the price] what do you expect?I agree, I got what I paid for.I wish HTC (whose mobile bases are top notch!) would come out with a PM-428 or something, costing about [ammount of money] or so, using heavier tubing and a more robust clamping device for the drill press column.Conceptually the PM-128 is well thought out, with plenty of adjustments and a convenient storage tray, it just needs to be beefed up a little. If you purchase the PM-128 be advised that it is not suitable for long >5ft. or heavy pieces of material, in my humble opinion.
