The Better Clamp
This is a nice simple piece of critical equipment. If it didn't work properly, it could cause a lot of hassle (air gaps / hoses coming off). The two wires fit easily over the end of the hose and seated snuggly on each side of the hose groove and then clamped up nice with just a phillips screwdriver. The wires strattle the ribbing on the hose, creating a nice tight fit. I put on several of these wire clamps without one problem, air leak or lose hose.

The steel band clamps just did not stack up.They did not hold as well, or go on as easy (stripped the threads).Go with the wire clamps.

Big difference
I didn't figure that there was much of a differnce between hose clamps. I used both - steel band clamps and wire band clamps- with my ribbed hose for dust collection. The wire band clamps were easier to put on, held better, seated well, and stayed on. ... Read more

The Controller!
With a blastgate at each machine, you can control the air flow from the DC unit as if you only had one machine hooked up, providing the most efficient use of the air suction.By opening and closing each blastgate, as needed, you will get the maximum amount of air flow at all times.

For a more "durable" blastgate, there is a metal version available at a premium.But I have found the plastic gates work just fine for most operations.The only negative item for this blastgate, and even the metal blastgates, WHY are the ends tapered?All the other fittings for the DC system do not have tapered ends, only the blastgates.

Overall, it is a good product that allows for maximum use of a dust collection system, with a blastgate installed at each branch to control the air flow to the machine in use. ... Read more

Not the Preferred Choice of Clamps
The steel band clamp should only be used in one type of application. That being where you are putting two SMOOTH surfaces together, like a garden hose or radiator hose. But with a DC application of a ribbed hose, the steel band clamp is NOT the preferred choice, use the wire clamp.

The steel band clamp will only strip and never be fully seated trying to compress and secure the wire rib to the smooth DC fitting. The steel banding and worm screw is not designed to do that task and provide the needed pressure to fully seat the ribbed hose. Whereas, the wire clamp will actually strattle the rib on both sides and create a perfect clamping fit.

I tried to save the ten cents over the wire clamp, and wound up stripping the clamp thread on about 75% of the 3" hose applications with the steel band clamps. I antied up and spent the extra cash and got the right product, the wire clamps for the ribbed DC hose. ... Read more

Great saw
The saw is all that it has been touted as being and then-some.The finish was good and all parts were there as one would expect.The power is incredible compared to my old 120v saw.

A specification sheet was included showing what all of the tollerances were as they were checked/set at the factory.In most cases the runout or tollerance was measured in the .oooo range, you can't get much closer to zero than that.

I found two items that kept me from giving this product a full 5-star rating it should be a 4.5 but that option isn't available.

1) The fence has a bent part for the adjustment that keeps the fence parallel to the blade.I will be contacting Jet to see what can be done to correct it.I think it will just be a matter of a little hammer work to correct it.

2) The assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired.If you do not have some mechanical ability and are not used to putting things together by reading between the lines you may have a problem.This will be especially true when attaching the cabinet to the saw and mobile base.JET doesn't make it clear that the two rear legs should be removed, you have to look at the picture to find this out.

For additional support, I drilled another hole directly over the mobile base support, cut one of the legs to fit and installed it.Other than this extra supportand the two front legs, there are 6 screws that hold the box to the table and I would imagine that in time the extra weight would cause the table to warp.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again but the way this is constructed I don't believe that will ever happen. ... Read more

Not Quite a Record 52 1/2, but not bad
I own a Record 52 1/2 quick release vise.I would have gladly bought another when I needed an additional bench vise for a new bench, but sadly Record stopped producing woodworking vises.The Jet Vise is not quite as heavy in terms of the castings and rods, nor is it as cleanly finished, but overall, it'sdecent vise.I like the red color.For the price, the castings ought to be cleaner, the handle more than a rod with end nuts, and the dog made out of phenolic plastic or the like instead of iron so as to be more tool friendly.I would have found the Southeast Asian product a great deal at a price of around $85.As it is, it is sufficient, but a little disappointing especially in comparison to my Record. ... Great While It Lasted
I liked how this saw was heavy and stable and it cut beautifully...for the 15 minutes that the motor lasted.Burned out before I got through cutting up one sheet of plywood.

I understand that these things happen and WMH and ToolCrib/Amazon were very good to order a replacement motor for me.However, since it's coming from Taiwan, it would have taken 2-1/2 months to get here.Again, WMH and ToolCrib stepped up and agreed to pay for shipping the saw back to ToolCrib/Amazon for a full refund well after the standard 30-day return policy.So service wasn't the issue, it's the availability of replacement parts that is the concern.

So I ordered a Powermatic to replace the Jet (hey, you've got to upgrade whenever possible, right?)

Also, the documentation that comes with Powermatic and Jet are pretty scarce in the details.It's important to note that these 5HP beasts pull alot of amperage.WMH recommends a 40amp breaker for both the Jet and the Powermatic.This necessitates an 8-guage wire from breaker to outlet.Pretty beefy, but it sure beats a fire...

All in all, although disappointed in the downtime, to be fair to the Jet, it's a nice saw that really does a good job.The service is good too.I'd like to think that this is an isolated incident, and given the other reviews, that's very likely.So take this with a grain of salt if you need to, just be aware of the wiring needs that aren't plainly spelled out in the manuals and be aware that if you do have issues, you'll likely get good service, but it may be a LONG time before you get your saw fixed.

Jet 5hp left tilt cabinet saw
Absolutely great saw.I've had it for a year now.Before I bought this saw, I used a Delta 10" contractor's saw for a lot of years.I liked that saw and cut a LOT of wood with it, but the 1-1/2 hp motor was a bit on the weak side.When it was time, I knew I wanted a Cabinet-type saw with a lot of power.The only saws that I really considered were the Powermatic, Delta and Jet.I did a lot of research to determine which was the best saw.The cheapest was definitely the Jet with the Powermatic being, by far, the most expensive.With the amount of money that I was spending, I didn't have a problem paying more if I felt that I was getting more for the money.With all that said, I chose the Jet, and I have not been disappointed in the least.This machine is a monster.You can shove a piece of 2" oak through it as fast as the blade will allow with no motor bogging.As far as fit and finish go, it's beautiful.Shipping was great.Everything arrived in perfect condition.Set-up was quick and easy once I had all the correct parts.This leads me to the only downfall to my experience.The hardware to set up the fence, (bolts, nuts, and washers), were missing.I did not want to wait a week for Jet to send them to me, so I went to the local Home Depot and purchased the items for about $4.Everything else went smoothly.Though the missing items were frustrating at the time, I certainly would not downgrade my rating after using this great saw.The one thing that I would recommend is to buy the Delta mobile base.It is built well and much easier to use than most of the other bases available.The Delta base fits the Jet saw like it was made for it.

Great Table Saw!
I have owned this table saw for over 3 years now.It can cut 2 inch oak without problems.The fence is great!It takes seconds to set and minutes to realign if you need too.The tables are solid and level.The only problem I had was setting it up I had to drill holes to get everything right.It took over a day to get right.But once it was setup it works like a champ.I added a good Frued blade to make it cut perfect edge.I would recommend it to anyone. ... Jet milling machines
Jet machines are quite functional.

A milling machine is the heart of a machine shop.

If this is your first milling machine, expect to
spend and equal amount on the tooling you will need
to make it work. A clamping kit, an assortment of end mills
chucks and holders, a vice, a rotary table, an indexing head
and more will all be required to round out the purchase.

Horesepower translates into speed of material removal.
Bigger bits require greater power.

This is just a starter mill and you will want to upgrade
to something costing ten or twenty times as much when you
want to do production work as this one is all hand cranked
and requires a skilled operator to run it.

Did I mention that it cuts wood etc.? There are even machinable
ceramics which it can handle.

Again, expect to double the price (as a ballpark est.) on any
machine tool by the time it you are done. And plan to put it on
a solid foundation, not in your livingroom.

Good consistent Hose
This is a black 2" hose, made of ABS plastic.The sizing is very consistent, as I cut it into 3 foot sections, each end maintained 2 inches.The hose is very rigid, almost crushproof, yet flexible enough to move from side to side and up and down and all round.It is not flexible enough, though, to move back and forth (in and out) as if you were moving machinery from the wall to a work area.But it is an excellent hose for permanent pieces of equipment for your dust collection system. ...
