4-0 out of 5 stars Good safety device
I have finally given up on finding some comfortable goggles that would fit over my glasses. This face shield turned out to be a good solution. Easily adjustable to one's head size (I have a large head), the visor provides much better vision than goggles. You can flip the visor up when you need to inspect your work more closely. The only problem I have encountered using the face shield is that my ear muffs no longer can go on my ears comfortably. I have since switched to ear plugs. Good value. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars A real disappointment
If the magnetic base on this light were twice as strong, it would be worth owning and deserve a high rating. As it turns out, the magnetic base is far too weak for many of the applications that this light is intended for. Here are some things I tried with this light:

1.Standing upright on a cast iron table (such as a tablesaw) - This thing nearly jumped out of my hand to stick to my tablesaw.

2.Attaching to the side of my drill press - Basically the magnet would not hold the light in this position.Only if I flexed the neck so the lamp itself hung straight down would it even hold itself to the side of the drillpress - and then it was so wobbly that I was afraid to turn on the press for fear that the light would slide right off...

3.Hanging straight down from a metal plate on the ceiling - This light will support itself in this manner so long as nothing bumps it, in which case the magnet gives up and the whole thing falls down.

So, I have to say that either I got a bad magnet or this tool is not worth owning, or both.Since a clamp on light will do everything that this can do and more - I don't recommend that you buy one of these!

4-0 out of 5 stars Just about what you'd expect.
The first and foremost thing I checked was that it only takes a 40 watt bulb.Which puts just enough light to help and not quite enough if you have a bright shop. The other thing I noticed is that I went through my first light bulb very quick when I had it on the bandsaw.I think the vibration killed the bulb (get a light bulb for fans?), but since I moved it over to my drill press, the light bulb has lasted a bit longer.I haven't had any noticable issues with the magnet, it's strong enough to hold the lamp, but nothing else.

4-0 out of 5 stars Other ways to use it.
I like this light for the fact that you can remove the base and use it to directly mount the unit on a homemade bracket or mounting hole on your tools. I found the magnet was not as strong as i would like, but by mounting it directly on my DP with a homemade bracket (connected to the bolts used for mounting the motor) it works great, not utterly perfect, but better than any other light of ths nature. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent lamp
Three of my Delta tools have this lamp installed. The 17-925 drill press, a 14" band saw (older version of the 28-475), and a (now discontinued) scroll saw.In each case, the lamp is just what the doctor ordered. The bracket easily attaches to many Delta tools, the goose-neck is about the right length and stays put when you move it into position, the switch works flawlessly with a nice click, and the shade completely covers the bulb.To keep the lamp shade cool, I use 30 or 50 watt mini flood bulbs, but standard bulbs up to 50 watts work OK.(Delta's similar 28-857 lamp has a longer goose-neck section, but has a "universal" bracket.)

This lamp isn't cheap, but it's well made.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great, but does the job
I owned this light for about a day or two.It came in the accessory kit for the Delta Band Saw Kit.This light is designed to mount permanently on a fixed location on the saw.Unfortunately the light's gooseneck is short and does not meet the lighting needs for band sawing.I took it back and replaced it with a magnetic base light.Much more versitile, and cheeper too.Now I am considering the 25-858 light for a uniguard.Seems like it might be just what the Dr. ordered since the mounting brackets will position the light right above the blade.Still costs about 2 x what it should, but it is Delta and you know how that goes.OEM products ususlly cost more, but they fit just right. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Push on, push off-doesn't work for me
When I recieved the switch I was excited because I'd used a similar product and loved it. What the sales literature doesn't tell you is that this is a push on/push off switch, not a momentary switch. I was planning on using it to run my drill press and was most interested in it because I thought that it could switch off more quickly than the two push buttons on the drill press itself. No matter how careful you are drill presses occasionly grab the work piece and fling it and I wanted a way to get away from the press and switch it off as quickly as possible. I was expecting the foot switch to work like a deadman switch where the instant I took pressure off the foot controlling it the circuit would be broken and the drill press would stop. Instead, this switch, once acitivated by momentary foot pressure, stays on by itself until you hit the foot pedal again. This requires a much more concious and deliberate actionto turn it off rather than a reflexive one. ... Read more
