Editorial Review

Honeywell's largest QuietCare model, this portable air cleaneris recommended for filtering the air in a closed room as large as 285square feet (15 by 19 feet). As it continuously circulates a room'sair--about six times per hour--it employs two filters to remove smoke, pollen, dust, animal dander, dust mites, molds, bacteria, viruses, andodors. Especially useful for asthmatics and allergy sufferers, thecleaner contains a true HEPA filter that is at least 99.97 percenteffective at trapping extremely tiny particles (as small as 0.3microns) while a prefilter reduces odors. Honeywell's IntelliChecksystem permits monitoring of the filters' lives. The HEPA filter lastsone to three years; the prefilter, 3 months. Filter replacement issimple, and replacement filters can be ordered separately. The aircleaner has three speeds, and all are exceptionally quiet for a aircleaner this large and powerful. The cleaner measures 13-3/4 incheswide, 18-3/4 inches high, and 17 inches in deep and carries a five-yearwarranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Happy Customer!
I researched air purifiers for almost 2 months before finally buying this air purifier.I couldn't seem to decide what would be a good because reviews seemed to always go both ways on everything I looked at.I really think it just has a lot to do with what reason you are wanting your air purifier to work as to how happy you are going to be with it, and as to what type you need to buy.I mainly wanted one for my allergies.I am allergic to dust, dust mites and mold spores. There is no smokers in my house or anything so the air is clean from that.
I mainly chose this filter because I found a really good price for it somewhere else, and I decided to give it a try.I have to say, for what I need it to do, it does a great job.The air definitely feels fresher and my eyes do not burn and I do not sneeze near as much since getting this machine.I like that you only have to replace the HEPA filter every 1-2 years, where most HEPA filters I researched in other machines required every 6 months or so.They are not too expensive for lasting that long.
I have only run my machine 8 days and I took out the filter to see what it looked like, and there was a bunch of dust and stuff already collected on it.So I can tell it is getting a lot out of the air.I saw several people wrote that the machine is way too loud even on low, but I tested several machines out, and this is definitely the quiestest of the HEPA models I tried. At night in my room I have it on low and it is perfectly fine, about the same noise as a fan would be.Even on medium I can watch TV without problems. So if you are looking for a air purifier for your allergies at least, and have around 1,000 Sq. feet place or so your living it, it works great.Highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars Honeywell - 3 times is a charm?
Good News:When the 17400 operates, it does a good job.
Bad News: Motor is defective.
I purchsed the Honeywell 17400 Envirocare in November 2003 and by June 2004 the unit cease to operate. As described here already, the unit simply would not turn on.Returned it to service center on my dime plus $10.00 check. After 5 weeks and no response, I complained aggressively to Customer Support who immediately dispatched a replacement unit. That new unit arrived in early August 2004 after 6 weeks without a unit. You can be sure that extreme care of the unit was observed at all times for fear that it would beakdown again. GUESS WHAT?The new (replacement) unit stopped working on October 8.The next unit (number 3) arrived in 7 days after my plaintiff telephone call to customer service. Still, after the new unit arrive, I had to return the bad unit to Honeywell again on my dime!Maybe three times a charm? Please, please whatever you do (unless Amazon starts giving them away) do not get this unit.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible product - stay away!!
This unit only worked for about 6 weeks, then wouldn't turn on anymore. I'm very disappointed - I paid near two hundred and was unable to return it...what a complete waste!! I would have given no stars if I could have! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A First Class Machine.
I considered the Delta Unisaw, the similar Jet, the Powermatic 66, the other Grizzly saws, and others and decided that this saw was simply the best, not just for the money. There are now two in the family. Both of us are delighted. These are also mighty handsome machines.

There is no substitute for the power and rigidity and mass of a machine like this.

Expect to spend some pleasant time with a file or stone softening sharp edges and corners on the table and on the miter guage.Set it up carefully.Buy a good blade. Then expect great performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Saw
This is the best saw for the money in the $1000 and under range. I was looking closely at the Jet SuperSaw and the Dewalt equivalent but I am so happy I decided on this saw. This is a saw that will last a lifetime. I now have a shop full of Grizzly tools: this table saw, a 17in bandsaw, the 6" jointer, etc. and I absolutely love the quality of these tools. They've taken care to provide average/above average woodworkers very high quality, great features and at an excellent price.

The fence that comes with this is superb. The cast iron top and powder coat paint all add up to a great feel. This sucker is heavy so make sure to get a mobil base (I have the Jet for this and the HTC for other tools-both are good and will do the job).

Although it may seem daunting to go to 220v - I highly recommend it. For most this isn't a big deal if you're in a garage that has the access panel - an electrical contractor can do it pretty cheap and you'll love the added performance. The 3 hp motor on this makes smooth cuts like butter and it is actually a lot less noise than my old Craftsman table saw.

Get it and enjoy, you wont be dissappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw for the money
The price is right and the performance is outstanding. The table really shined when coupled with a full kerf Freud blade. I initially had a cheaper blade and it was doing OK, but the Freud made a HUGE difference in quality of cut, vibration, and sound. My tables were flat and cuts were straight. The Shop Fox fence is much improved over previous designs and doesn't budge a mm for me.I added the extension table to the G1023SL to make it a G1023SLX, money well spent. If I had a couple of small gripes, the dust collection port could be flush with the bottom of the collection area so the sawdust wouldn't accumulate so much before it is sucked out.If that is all I'm complaining about, there isn't too much wrong with it.It was a BEAR getting it down into my basement.I removed everything I could to break the saw down into less bulky parts but still I think they cabinet/motor assembly had to be 300 lbs.It wasn't big, just dense.I went back and looked at the Powermatics and Deltas after my purchase, glad I didn't waste the extra $$$. ... This Bessey cabinet door kit is a huge favorite of cabinetmakers everywhere, and for good reason. With to their rock-solid, nonmarring, glue-resistant jaws, this set of clamps is distributes pressure evenly across a surface, so bowing and lifting is virtually eliminated. The right-angle jaws are ideal for assembly work, and the clamps have easy-to-grip wooden handles and solid-steel screws. 5-0 out of 5 stars I couldn't have said it better
I was going to write a review of the Bessey cabinet clamps but I read what Alan Freedman said and I couldn't have said it better. So, to use Alan Freedman's comments (which I totally agree with)....

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THEM: These are best clamps for squaring up a cabinet side/face frame ever. They work great standing up on a workbench. I consider them an invaluable part of my woodworking shop.

THE OTHER STUFF: These are not the end all. I still use my jorgenson clamps a lot. They apply point pressure (versus even pressure across the face of the clamp) which can be useful for truing up some jobs and clamping some irregular surfaces. The Bessey clamps are pretty heavy which can be ackward when clamping with one hand (and using the other hand to hold the project together).

THE BOTTOM LINE: You can never have too many clamps. I would not have less than a pair of the Bessey clamps in my shop. Four are better.

5-0 out of 5 stars these are great clamps
My only complaint is the price, but you get your money's worth. I plan to pick up a few more of these sometime in the future. The faces give you square pressure against the stock, which I find really important for edge gluing and cabinet building. I keep a little pressure on the heads for storage. The one time I did not I rotated the clamp head vertically and the clamp body slid down pinching my hand on the way down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Woodworking an Absolute Pleasure!
My husband has been using his grandfather's pipe clamps for years. After doing extensive research, he finally decided to invest in some Bessey's.Needless to say, it's made his woodworking pasttime even more enjoyable. In fact, he liked these so well that he bought a second, identical set. These clamps are well worth the money! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My chisels and plane irons have never been sharper!
I bought this honing guide system to use with the "scary sharp" method of sharpening.Using progressively finer grits of sandpaper affixed to a granite plate, I get great results both while flattening the backs of the cutting tools and while honing the bevels using this jig.I have never been so happy sharpening as I am with this system. It consistently produces razor sharp edges in a few minutes. The chisel/iron holding mechanism is solid and the roller glides smoothly through your honing strokes. All aspects of this tool feel like good quality.

I rate this product 5 stars for its ease of use, quality construction, and very reasonable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great System...
I have owned this system for two years now and find it excellent. I use it with a plate diamond stone for rough shaping and japanese water stones for final edge and micro-beveling. Perhaps I am not fussy enough, but I don't find the angle jig a problem. I may not hit exactly 25 degrees every time, but my chisels and plane irons cut wonderfully.
As to setting the edge of the tool at a right angle, place the cutting tool in the jig and tighten the screw somewhat then use a small engineers square to square it up before tightening it completely.
One word of caution if using sandpaper or diamond sharpening systems; oil the roller on the sharpening jig every so often so the roller operates freely. If not, the roller can develope flat spots. I would also recommend resetting the micro-bevel feature to it's lowest setting before you put the jig away so you don't forget the next time you start using it.
If you have never sharpened before, this is an excellent system for you. After sharpening two or three edge tools, you should get repeatable results every time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent system for sharpening
This is not a cheap system but it works wonderfully.I have been very happy with Veritas and their parent company Lee Valley. They are a first class organization with decent customer service also.

The honing guide has enabled be to consistantly get the proper angle on my chisels, plane blades, etc.Is it essential? No, it isn't but it sure has made a differance in the quality of the sharpening of my woodworking tools. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Getting a little more time out of your filter
I've noticed that if I take a teaspoon of bleach and put it into a full resevior of water after about 3 or 4 weeks into a new filter, that I get almost 2 months out of a filter instead of the usual month. There is a little bleach smell the first day or two but it goes away quickly.

Editorial Review

When it's time to step up to a bigger router, Porter-Cable's 7518 should be on your list of contenders. It has as powerful a motor as you can find on a router and a reputation for accuracy and dependability. It's designed to work with bits as large as 4 inches in diameter and has electronic soft start and five speeds, to ensure that you'll be able to use those giant panel cutters safely and smoothly. The large bit capacity also makes it a great poor man's shaper when mounted on a good router table. Like most of Porter-Cable's routers, this model features their autorelease collet system, which does a good job of eliminating the problem of frozen bits and the need for rapping on the collet to remove them. Of all the routers we've tried, Porter-Cable's are among those with the lowest vibration and cleanest cuts. One thing we wish Porter-Cable would improve on is the lack of a spindle lock, which means that two wrenches--and potential knuckle wracking--are involved in bit changes. But given that a router's real value is measured by the results it produces, we'd still recommend the 7518 as one of the best routers available and a great choice for any shop. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for table AND handheld routing
Don't be afraid to take this thing out of the table and use it in your bare hands!

This things works fabulously, both in the table and in my hands. For the table, it's a no brainer... this thing rocks and, being Porter-cable, you will NEVER have a hard time finding accessories. It is the standard.

About the hand-held use though:It's big, but the handles are great, makes getting a good grip on it super-easy.In fact, it's the most comfy fit to my hands that I've found (though I have not tried the Milwaukee 3.25hp router). Also, the weight, solidity, and power of the thing makes it such that it doesn't jump around and jerk like my lighter 1 3/4 HP Dewalt.Between its weight and power, it's actually a fantastic hand router, and cuts any wood (as a previous poster stated) "like butter".

I've used it for fairly delicate, precision work in tight areas as well and the really big stuff.Heck, The only time I've even made a bit chirp was when I was using a 2" long, 1/2" flush trim bit on the full thickness of solid 1.75" alder, and I was "trimming" just about the full diameter of the bit... that was just plain stupid of me.The router barely seemed to notice... the bit, however... well, it's resting in "piece(s)".

I would not necessarily want it as my only router in the shop.If it were my only one, I'd go with a 2 1/4 hybrid, because there are definitely times you do need something more manuverable for light trim work. But, if you have the option to buy two (or already have one) having a small packaged 1 3/4hp (or even PC's little 7/8"hp deal) partnered with this one, then you have a near unbeatable routing setup.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for handheld work too
A lot of people have reviewed this router so I'll just add something new that I didn't see in other reviews. Many people are using this router primarily for router table work.I use it for handheld work too and find its considerable weight to be advantageous there, because it helps keep the router on top of the work. And it cuts like butter. Also the router's power seems to prevent the kind of sudden jumps that smaller motor routers are prone to.

5-0 out of 5 stars The industry standard
If you don't like horsepower and beefiness, than you may want to buy something else.On the other hand, if you want the toughest, most powerful router you can get, than this ones for you. This router was designed to be used in a router table with big bits. I have owned this router for 9 years. I make raised panel doors for a living. This tool has never failed me.I've been through three router tables, but only one router.Porter Cable could easily jack the price up on this router and it would have no problem selling. I own 7 routers. If I could only have one, it would be this one. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
The 890 router is a fine, quiet machine. However, the grip-vac and plunge bases leave a lot to be desired.I have only found one type of router operation in which the dust removal functions adequately-template routing of dishes. All other operations, free hand or on a table less than 10% of chips and dust are removed.Additionally, the dust port on the plunge base is too small for any vacuum hose/fitting I can findand I finally rigged a dodge 318 bypass hose to facilitate connection to my shopvac.Since dust and chip management were my primary for selection of the 890, I am very unhappy with this purchase.Yard sale bound.Maybe I should have waited for the arrival of the new MLCS

4-0 out of 5 stars Deficiencies
Overall, it's a fine system, and I'm glad I bought it.
However there are some astonishing design blunders:
1. On some of the plunge bases, the depth indicator is made of translucent plastic instead of transparent. This makes it impossible to read the depth indicator.
2. The spindle lock actuator on the plunge base is completely disfunctional. The motor unit cannot be brought down far enough to engage it.
3. With the dust shield in place, it's impossible to make above-the-table bit changes.Worse yet, with large bits, the entire unit must be removed from the table to change bits.Without the dust shield, above-the-table bit changes are quite easy; but you get a lot of dust sprayed around.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice fixed base unit, OK plunge base unit
I bought this set mostly for use in a Bench Dog RT150 router table with the fixed base. Wanted the GripVac base for occasional "out of the box" use where the vac feature would be nice. The fixed base/motor work REALLY well in the RT150. The motor release and height adjust controls are very accessable through the cabinet door and the accessory top-side height adjust knob, though a free mail-in item, is not really needed. The only things you have to reach for are the speed control (easy), on/off (easy), and the collet lock (less easy, but tolerable). The motor is very quiet, the soft-start "way cool", and power more than adequate. The clear plastic sub-bases ae less impressive. Seem like polystyrene, but I hope they are something more durable that that. I am less impressed with the plunge base. It's OK, but compared to my P-C 7529 plunge router, it's pretty crude in features, but then it only added $30 to the cost of the fixed-base router and $6 of that is for the plastic base that can take guide bushings. Too cheap to pass up. An annoying thing about the plunge base is that it has a 1" dust port, but the location makes it very inconvenient/impossable to use with P-C's 1" dust hose. Somebody stopped thinking too soon in the design stage. No fine plunge adjust, either. I give the GripVac base 5 stars and the plunge base three, so an average of four. Overall, a very good product and worth the money. Sure wish P-C was less stingy about warranty. Milwaukee does "lifetime", why does P-C only do 1 year? By the way, the CD they give you with the kit includes a video of instructions on building a simple router table. Unfortunately, the audio periodically fails. Not a big thing, but it does make P-C look bad to ship such a thing. I think they need a little Demming influence there. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Shaves wood, after a little work
After a number of months of reviewing various jointers the verdict came down to the 6" Powermatic or this Grizzly, the G1182HW.Well, you're seeing the review, so you can guess my choice.

The sheet metal base for this tool is a little flimsy and wobles a little bit.I mounted the base on a mobile platform to wheel it around my "shop".This was partially the cause of the problem, but it's still sturdy enough to use.

The instruction manual should be shown and used in tech writing classes of what NOT to do.This manual is edging on terrible. The pictures are dark, the descriptions are lacking, some of the setup steps assume you know what to do without being told, like how to wire the motor to the switch.Tech support was very helpful however and I managed to get that particular issue fixed.Specifically I couldn't figure out where to mount the ground wire...they told me to attach it to the cabinet (base). It works fine.

The infeed / outfeed tables are rock solid, appear to be very accurate, and very shiny after cleaning all of the packing grease/wax off of them with some WD-40.The same is true of the fence.

Speaking of the fence, it's very flat and strong. It took a bit to get the 90 and 45 degree stops set, mostly trial and error, but once they are set, no problem.

Also the blades in the cutter head were slightly off from the outfield table out of the box. That took about 5 minutes to fix.

The blades cut very well and the 110 volt motor is very capable for a machine this size.Make sure to get an appropiate gauge extension cord if the machine isn't plugging into the outlet. This baby sucks 14 amps.I shaved a bunch of fir and squared up some boards as testers and everything went beautifully. Then I tried some oak and walnut, every went well, very smooth, even on the wobbly mobile base I bought.

Overall if you can't afford a high end Powermatic, which btw I have access to and use elsewhere, I recommend the Grizzly. It's very reasonably priced and well worth the cash. The only issue is setup time, tuning time, and a POOR manual (hear that Grizzly! Fix your manuals!).On the plus side it cuts smoothly, accuratly, runs quiet, the handwheels are far better then a lever, and is 110 volt (for all you home shop people like me).

I'll do a followup in a few months to let you all know how it's going.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great First Jointer!
I love this jointer. It was very good, but not perfect out of the box, which is why I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 stars.Specifically, there were a few (very minor) scratches on the out feed table. The blemishes are really just enough to take away from the almost-mirror-finish on the rest of the tabletop and fence. Also, the knives needed a little adjustment to take out a minute amount of snipe that would occur near the end of a work piece.

The criteria that drew me to this purchase were 1) price, 2) features, and 3) Grizzly's reputation for great customer service.I feel that for the price, you can't beat the features that come with this jointer.I haven't had to call Grizzly because of a performance reason, but feel confident that if I did, they'd resolve it in a timely manner that I would find satisfactory.

Probably the most influential design feature I've found useful since I've had this machine is adjustable nature of all the parts. The v-belt tension, in feed table, out feed table, knives and fence are highly adjustable and can be `tweaked' until a perfect finish is obtained.

Not to be too positive... I'll take a second to knock the instruction manual.I found it to be lacking in detail with respect to the out of the box setup for the machine.I had never put a jointer together before and made a few wrong turns when putting the cabinet together. They weren't major issues, but I feel that with better instructions I would not have made those wrong turns whereby wasting time. The instructions were, at times, vague and misleading.I don't think that this is a big deal, though. It's clearly identifiable as the piece comes together.Beside, if you read tool reviews for the various brands of woodworking equipment, you'll find one common thread; nobody likes instruction manuals.Every major brand has a least one person that knocks the instructions.I'm not the first one to do it to Grizzly.

So far, I'm very satisfied and would almost rate this a perfect buy if not for the aforementioned items. The one question left is how will it hold up over time. We'll see! I'll get back to this review if I have any updates about durability/reliability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for the Money
First off, realize that you are purchasing 220lbs of steel. This is a big hunk of machinery not to be confused with a bench tool by any means.

I agree with desert_woodworker's points about the instructions for assembly and the cabinet. Both leave a lot of room for improvement. The instructions are both confusing and incomplete. The cabinet is lightweight for the beast it needs to support. The belt is a bugger to get set where it needs to be.The way the motor is mounted on the underside of the chip chute leaves much to be desired.

Either he got bad blades or I got good ones, but I have no nicks to complain about and this is after running a couple hundred board feet through the machine.

Probably the most tedious part of the setup was cleaning the protective wax off all the machined surfaces.I wound up employing the judicious use of a chisel to get the bulk of it off and finishing with steel wool,

This machine delivers though once done with the aggravation of getting is set up.Once set up, squared, depth checked and all that boring stuff, it cuts like butter, perfectly square, no sniping, perfectly flat.Cuts a mighty fine 45 angle too.

If I were to have the choice again,I would spring for a preassembled cabinet model. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars This is the same as the American Standard lamp
Please see my review for the American Standard hallogen lamp, because that is what will be shipped to you.I have bought several of these exact lamps from OSH for a much cheaper price and they have all died on me just after the warranty expired. The lamp is very pretty and provides a lot of light, but the quality is just awful.I am not even going to open the box, I'm sending this thing back.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Made
Immediately upon assembly, we found this product to be poorly made. The mesh above the lamp was so poorly designed that it could not be reapplied after the bulb was inserted. It stands askew because poor alignment of the gold dividers in the shaft.Although it serves its basic function of providing light, it was not worth $28.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'M BEGINNING TO SEE THE LIGHT....
We were first attracted to this lamp becuase we have a favorite painting hanging near a rather dark corner of the living room.We thought this lamp would provide the lighting the painting needed, and it did.

The style of the lamp is classic so that it fits well with most decors. We also liked the heavy base so that while it looks as if it doesn't weigh very much it will not topple. Also, the dimmer switch allows us to adjust lighting for parties.

Let there be light! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Filter. Bad price!
I used to get these filters for under $8 now they are almost $15. They are good but I would get them at drugstore[dot]com. They're only $8.99 and they have free shipping for any orders greater than $49.

5-0 out of 5 stars Universal Pre-Filter
This filter is larger (taller) than it needs to be for most machines. You simply trim the filter (and it's got pre-made perforations) to the height of your machine. And yes, this means that if you have one of the smaller machines, one which is less than half the height of the pre-filter, you might get two pre-filters for the price of one.Bonus.

4-0 out of 5 stars Filters out dirt, dust, feathers, bug, hair, etc. Oh, my!
This is a filter. Air passes through it due to differential pressure. The mesh like structure impedes the movment of dirt, dust, feathers, bug, hair, etc. This fact may be evidenced by examining one after a sufficient period of use in an environment where such junk is in the air.

Forensic analysis of the mesh trapped junk may reveal fascinating detailed knowledge about the locale in which the filter unit had operated..

These mesh carbon fiber structures should be exchanged periodically for a new unit. The filth ridden one disposed of in a plastic bag, placed in the trash, and hands washed afterwards. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for resawing!
My son and I drove over 2 hours to Springfield to the Grizzly showroom to purchase our new bandsaw and another Grizzly planer for our production shop. After careful consideration of some 20-25 different bandsaw models we selected the Grizzly G0513 17" machine as the very best resaw tool for the money on the market today. The only issue we've found so far with this model is the less than desirable fence which came with the machine.

We have many Grizzly machines in our shop already and know of their ability to take a lot of abuse.Sure, Grizzly tools are not the top-of-the-line for refinement, especially when compared to some of the other more-expensive tools. However, when one considers price AND ability together, a Grizzly machine rallies well against any other brands on the market.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent Machine
As with another poster, I was looking at 14" machines and the G0513 was only a little more expensive, so I took the plunge. It was my first Grizzly tool, so I was a little nervous.
The machine arrived with no damage or any other problem.

My only compaints, and thus the 4 stars are:1) the plastic handwheels (tension and cutting height) look and feel cheap.2) the blade guides are somewhat chinsey. After getting them properly adjusted, I find the thumbscrews will work loose. If I overtighten the thumbscrews, the guides do not rotate properly. This has become a recurring problem, and I may contact Grizzly to resolve.Other competetive machines, such as the Jet 16" have a better adjustment system with jam nuts.3) the table brackets (trunnions) are stamped steel.I expected a little beefier cast iron construction.

Overall the saw cuts very well and has plenty of power.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm happy.
I needed a band saw that can take 2 inch slices from a 10 inch diameter log with minimal sanding. Also, I wanted a saw that could resaw 8 inch 4/4stock. In addition, I have the book, "Building Beautiful Boxes with Youir Band Saw" by Lois Ventura and wanted something to try out her designs. I first thought of buying a 14" and then adding to it.The Jet looks nice and people have a lot of good things to say about it.But after buying a fence, miter gauge and height attachment, the price started approaching that of the Grizzly G0513 so I bought the Grizzly. The two horsepower motor doesn't even strain cutting through a 10 inch air dried cedar log.

I bought directly from Grizzly but Amazon shouldn't mind as I have helped support them for several years now by buying a lot of books.

Other reviews I have seen mentioned problems with the table being bowed.Mine is not.The only problem I had was the plastic pointer on the miter gauge was broken and Grizzly shipped it the day following my e-mail.

The saw is extremely easy to set up and adjust. Even the blade that came with the saw runs very smooth. Grizzly customer service answered my e-mailed questions the same day they were sent. This is the first time I have bought anything from Grizzly and so far, so good.I will probably buy again from them should they have what I need.My other tools are Delta, Sears, Central Machinery (Harbor Freight) and an old Wards 10" radial arm that still works just fine after 30 years and a few parts.

If you buy one, get help moving it in because it is too heavy for one person. ... Read more

Editorial Review

While this JET saw beats its closest competitor on price, it also offers some advantages in design and construction. A quick-connect electrical plug is right on the saw, so you can change blades without having to search out the wall socket every time. The saw's stand is made of a heavy-gauge metal, and features a hinged-motor cover and a 4-inch dust port for easy connection to a dust-collection system. The left-tilting arbor is another mark in this saw's favor. Tilting the blade away from the fence allows you to work without a sacrificial fence and reduces the risk of the piece binding under the blade. But this saw's most impressive feature is the smooth action of the blade's height-adjustment mechanism. Not only will users save their wrists and knuckles, but they'll also save time by cranking the blade to the exact height needed with fewer test runs for every rabbet, dado, tongue, and groove. Finally, we really appreciate the new micro-adjustable XACTA II fence that's included with this saw--a long awaited upgrade to a fence that's already popular for its accuracy. --Nancy Gleason ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Top Quality Cabinet Saw
The saw has performed beyond my expectations.Setting up the saw took some time and effort. Three or four arms/hands may have helped a couple of times.

I would have given this saw 5 stars but my opinion was tainted by the fact that Amazon failed to send the Bosch Router (included). After waiting a couple of weeks for the delivery, and asking the truck delivery person if he missed it, it was nowhere to be found.I Called Amazon to be told to call Jet directly. They (Jet) were kind enough to conference call Amazon. This actually put me in touch with a human voice at Amazon, amazing. She told me that the saw, with router, was no longer available and the website offer was incorrect.Just before I exploded she agreed they had the responsibility to make it right.Well, 6 weeks later the router arrived, and I'm a happy camper.

One of the minor disappointments with the saw is the miter gauge. It is rather sloppy and I will most likely replace it with an upgrade shortly. I have bought JET and POWERMATIC products before and will continue to do so.Personally, even though I have their tools, I believe DELTA is overrated for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars just about top of the line
In this category of saws, I have a friend with a PowerMatic, and it IS a little heavier built saw (I even had a WMH Tool Group rep admit to this).Mine has performed great though, I added Jet's sliding table later, and this is one super combo. It has had daily use since Dec. 02, when I started my cabinet shop.I have another friend with a Delta, and I prefer this one over a Delta any day.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!! My favorite tool in my shop.
For the last 2 years I'd been using a contractors saw in a shop that a friend and me shared. After building my own shop I started looking to replace a few tools and a "cabinet" grade table saw was first on my list. For a month I researched magazines, Amazon reviews, questioned woodworkers, and so on. Finally, I decided on the Jet and MAN what table saw. I drove 2 hours to pick up my JTAS-10XL (Amazon was sold out) and paid an addition $100(Ouch). Brought it home and began to assemble, BY MY SELF (not a good idea, the cast iron top/motor is quite heavy). Some people see assembly as tedious labor; I view it more like a child standing in front of the tree on Christmas morning. Assembly took about 3 hours and plus an addition hour to dial it in. Everything went together smoothly as a matter of fact I don't recall opening the instruction book. Having used a contractor's saw for 2 years it was like trading in a Yugo for a Ferrari. This saw is solid, little or no vibration and accommodates all 13/16 of my dado blade stack. The biggest surprise to me was the quality of the router as well as the lift. Honestly, as with most "bonus" items I expected a so-so router and a lift that I would have to replace in a year or so. The Bosch router runs smoother than my DeWalt 618. The other saws I seriously considered were the Grizzly and the X5 but the router table pushed me over to the JTAS-10XL and boy did it pay off. If you must have a con I not real fond of the magnifying bubble on the fence. (There I said it) Seriously, this might be best purchase I've made to date. Solid, smooth and accurate you get you money's worth. ... Read more

This kit makes it easy to quicky insulate just about any reasonably sized window you may have. The kit includes one large sheet of plastic and 2 rolls of double sided tape. You apply the tape around the frame of the window you want to insulate, cut a piece of plastic and then apply it to the tape.Once you've done that you just need to use a hair dryer on the plastic to get it to shrink and tighten in your window frame.

I used these kits to seal drafty windows in an old building. It took a little over an hour to cover 4 windows. The temperature difference is dramatic and when the plastic has been well tightened and trimmed it isn't too noticable. ... Read more

Editorial Review

This magnesium round-head framing nailer from Porter-Cable is a rugged, lightweight piece of equipment. The nailer's magnesium housing is several pounds lighter than regular models, but it still offers the durability you expect on the job site. We didn't notice any difference structurally from nonmagnesium models, except for the obvious difference in weight--which is a pretty big deal, considering a framer wields a nailer more than any other tool throughout the course of a day. The gun's handle is ergonomically designed, with a slip-resistant rubber grip that's comfortable to hold.A nail lockout mechanism alerts you when it's time to reload, so you won't waste time firing blanks. There's also a jam release knob located right on the magazine. To round out its impressive feature list, this magnesium nailer also has an easy-to-use depth-of-drive adjustment, a barbed nose for easy toenailing, a rubber foot pad for sheathing and decking, a large air chamber for added power, and an adjustable exhaust port. The gun accepts standard 22-degree, plastic, collated round-head stick nails from 2-3/8 to 3-1/2 inches long. The kit comes with a 1/4-inch male quick coupler (with dust cover), oil for the nailer, and wrenches. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, Reliable, Reliable!
I bought a used FR350MAG over a year ago because I wanted a lighter round-headed nailer.I remodeled a friend's (HUGE) basement and built a 12x20 deck with this nailer, shot thousands of nails and never once did it misfire.

I'm a tool fanatic and love to keep my tools in good shape.I understand the want for a case, but the box it comes in does a pretty good job of keeping this thing protected and luggable. Box vs. case is not that big of a drawback, nor would I make it a major point in deciding which nailer to buy.If you plan to shoot a lot of nails, weight and reliability make all the difference in the world...especially if your shooting above your head or trying out some new-fangled yoga position hanging off a joist.

As others have mentioned, I have inadvertantly double-tapped this thing a few times. It will definitely let you know you're alive, but a quick call to PC and you'll have yourself a new trigger that will eliminate the multiple bump-fire capability.

Also, setting the depth may take a couple of test fires to get it right, but, again, I've had no real issues with that either.

The bottom line:If you want a framing nailer that's lighter than most, easy to load/use and fires every time, buy this one. When it comes to air nailers, PC knows its stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfecto
I am a professed "Weekend Warrior", renovating my home in PA.Bought this nailer because the DeWalt model was so badly panned.I have not been disappointed.Have fired well over 1000 nails & the only thing slowing me down is reloading. The gun will not fire with 2 or 3 nails left in the magazine, but other thanthat, it is flawless. After working for a few hours, the nailer does get heavy, but it is worth it not to have to hammer all those nails.I nailed down a 10' x 20' subfloor in about 1/4 the time it would have taken me with a hammer & nail.No misfires. It is a joy to use!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleased so far, but I haven't used it alot
I purchased this framing gun after buying a PC finishing nailer that I abosolutely loved. So far, I have been pretty happy. The first nail out of the gun didn't even make it to the wall.Ever since, it has worked like a charm.I am a home hobbiest and thought that such a large and bulky nailer would be cumbersome to work with, but I have been amazed how well it "feels" in my hand and how little problem I have had with the bulk.Overall, I have been very happy with my purchase. ... With a larger than average surface area and powerful heat transfer system, Delonghi’s Magnum radiator quickly and quietly fills an entire room with heat. Its automatic timer control has 96 different settings, and includes a room monitoring thermostat, so you can set the unit to your desired temperature and know that you’ll stay warm. Horizontal thermal slots keep the heat circulating. High efficiency diathermic oil is permanently sealed and never needs refilling. The Magnum’s clean, Euro design is compact and safe, with no sharp edges, and a double insulated exterior. It’s movable, too: four corner wheels, and a handle that stays cool while the unit is operating, let you easily position the Magnum anywhere you need the heat. Additional safety features include thermal cut off to shut off the radiator once the desired temperature is reached, and anti-frost protection to keep the unit heated to at least 35 degrees F. 5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely a "hot" item
Overall, after a winter of hard use, I am extremely pleased with this item. The integral timer is the killer feature on this heater, warms a cold bedroom adequately and doesn't burn the excessive electric since we don't have to remember to turn it on or off each night and day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!We bought 2!
We have in the basement a craft room where I do my arts and crafts - its about 16x20 and a workshop where my husband does his crafts. We brought one of these for each room and they're perfect! They completely take the chill off in about 15-20 minutes and keep the rooms warm. They have a timer you can set so you don't leave them on and forget about them. They're self contained so there's no fire hazard that I can see.I absolutely love them!Very happy customer, toasty warm in the craft room.

5-0 out of 5 stars good warmth if used right
I'm hesitant to give this 5 stars because it's the first oil-filled radiator I've ever owned. Found it at another online vendor.
I live in a small mobile home of only 700 sq. ft. floor area in total (yep, very small place!) and this radiator is intended to either supplement my vent-free propane heater or be used in the work shed.
As I write this, the outside temperature is approaching the freezing point, expected to be mid-twenties by morning. So tonight is 'test the new heater night' with no other heating to help it along.
Using a digital multitester with temperature probe attached I measured the Magnum 15T (my guess is the 15E is same basically, only electronic timing) from various places around and on it, while set to full power and thermostat dial on 5 (goes from antifreeze to 6). Top was 150 F (66 C), underneath was 120 F (45 C). Approximately 1 ft (or 30 cm) above the top surface it was 130 F (55 C), and down inside between the fins touching the surface again it was 200 F (94 C).
Indoor tabletop thermometer just 3 feet away from the radiator reads about 69 F and my regular central heating digital thermostat (again, switched off for tonight) is showing 67 F, which is in the back bedroom. Radiator itself is placed in the living room, where I'm using a reversed ceiling fan that I added an adjustable rotary control wall switch making it slower than originally was able to do.
The radiator seems to stay on for 3 1/2 minutes and then off 1 1/4 minutes, or powered 65% of the time (if my math is right). At this rate the temperature drop of the radiator amounts to very little, and of course the room temperature doesn't change.
I should note that having read the review about the loud noises problem I am hearing the thermostat quite plainly click or pop each time it cycles on/off. Not sure how common this is, since it's my first ever but it is certainly neither loud nor quiet. Maybe not the same thing I'm hearing. Although it does deter from the pleasant, otherwise silent, heating it provides; my vent-free LP heater is not silent either and it's only flames and expanding/contracting metal! But it'll also pop on and off, too.
Wasn't possible to send in this review right away so I've had some more time using the radiator since then. I moved it into the bedroom for the night and left the door open, no other heating sources used, and it got pretty cold at 6 a.m. so I turned on the central heating. Was 62 F everywhere except the bedroom (didn't measure but guessing close to 66 F in there. It couldn't keep up with the 26 F outside, but that was to be expected. Anyway, it'll do well for what I had in mind.
