Great Faming Nailer
I bought this nail gun to finish a few rooms in my basement.The Paslode Framing Nailer worked flawlessly.It nailed pressure treated 2x4s perfectly.I didn't have a single problem with it.

The only thing I didn't like was the exhaust that the gun produces.Since it works off of an actual explosion, it gives off an exhasut that can be a little overwhelming if your not working outside or have the windows open.

CUT YOUR UMBILICAL AIRHOSE PEOPLE!
Will someone please tell me what "light framing" is? The nature of the work itselfdoes not change whether one wants to use a 16 oz. hammer to put together a house or a framing gun.So I'm not quite sure what those reviewers mean when they say this gun is for "light framing". It shoots nails into wood! Does it's being cordless somehow translate into some kind of limitation? As long as this nailer is working like it ought to, I don't see any reason why one would hesitate to use it in any situation one night find onself in when framing a house. For reviewers to categorize this liberating tool as a novelty is misleading to those who might benefit from it's use. Cordless is the future, get used to it.

"wireless" is better
I once had an ex army ranger turned framer tell me that he would rather jump out of a airplane with an air hose than a parachute, because the hose will surely get hung on something , somewhere on the way down.while this is a little far fetched, using the impulse gun eliminates the "hung up air hose".it is great for light framing and punch list work. i strongly recommend this gun for people in the remodel/repair industry as well as the do-it-yourselfer. ... Works great but a lot of money for plastic
Unlike many of the reviewers who bash this tool, I have actually used it and have made "perfect miters" with it.I am a professional woodworker and I do use it.It is handy for marking a reveal around door jambs and for making a perfect 45 degree reference line in the corners.The only problem I have with it is I was expecting it to be be metal and it was plastic.I have seen them in metal in stores and other reviewers referred to them as metal.The plastic works fine.It is just a lot of money for plastic.

Very handy tool for hanging trim
Not being a professional trim carpenter, this tool really helped me do a good job trimming doors and windows. I read the negative reviews calling the tool useless--and it may very well be to an old pro. If you make your living trimming out houses, you're probably beyond this. I agree with the complaint about the lack of instructions. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it. Just examine the pictures and practice with some scrap, and you'll soon be rolling right along.

Agree with pointless
This is a gadget.How much it will help you probably depends on your skill level. I do not know of a single pro-trimmer that uses this thing. Most pro-trimmers do not even use a tape measure for installing casings anyway, so this "toy" only adds a step. I highly doubt it will give you "perfect miters every time" so do not expect it will.Perfect miters are elusive to the best of us at times and it takes experience, skill, an accurate saw and a good blade, and a few installation tricks to to get the "perfect miter" that won't open up. Given that this tool ranks #4 in sales must mean something, but I would not expect it to deliver on all it claims it can do for your casing work. Bench Dog is makes some excellent products but I am not so sure of this one. ... Read more

Great Ladder!!!!!
This ladder is excellant, it is very sturdy and I have never had any problems with it locking at all. I have been on it with 2 people at the same time, over 500 lbs and it is rock solid. Yes it is a little heavy, but if you want quality construction that is the price you have to pay, but it is well worth it. It is the best and most versatile ladder I have ever owned, it works well indoors,outdoors,soft ground,soild ground and on level or unlevel ground, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I had to. Definitely a good ladder!!!

Great Ladder - Don't listen to complaints
All I can say is ... "What a great functional ladder that is more sturdy than any ladder I've ever used!" To get a ladder of this quality for it's current price was a steal. Someone made about the latch giving way, I think that's just made up ... or ... it was not safely locked, cause once it's locked, nothing will make it come loose unless you mean for it to come loose. If your searching for a good dependable solidly built ladder, then look no further because this is it.

It's hard to imagine something really new in the reciprocating saw world, but lo and behold, here it is. The Tiger Claw works just like a standard reciprocating saw, with some major advances. The gear housings, front and back, can be rotated in any direction. Yes, you heard right. No more twisting and contorting--you stay upright and the tool does the Houdini act. The rear gear housing adjusts 180 degrees in either direction with 13 positive stop locations, and the front gear house rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction with 12 positive stops. I'm spoiled!
This saw quickly spoils you with its versatility.

Fresh out of the box, I needed it to cut a 3/8" diameter steel spike. I mounted the right saw blade and set to work. The work was near the ground, so I sat, held the saw firmly, and started cutting. But then I realized that my trigger hand was in an awkward position. I thought, "Hey, I've got this variable angle saw. What am I doing flexing my wrist this way?" So I made the necessary adjustment, and finished the cut in no time.

Not only can this saw help you reach difficult places, but it even makes ordinary jobs totally painless. I'm completely spoiled.

Powerful and capable
I got my new Tiger Claw for Christmas and immediately took it out in my shop and chopped up some 2"X 12" white oak joists from an old building deconstruction project.The saw has more than enough power to take the cut as fast as I could force the blade into the beam.It seems to be built for extreme action and is "hell for stout" as my dad used to say.The angled gear boxes are fairly easy to adjust once you get the hang of the rather smallish recessed release buttons.What I have noticed in the few times I have used it is that it does vibrate more than the Milwaukee 11 amp sawzall, so a pair of light leather gloves help dampen it when cutting.It is also heavier, i am assuming because of all the extra gearing.I wouldn't want to spend hours at a time working with it over my head.I am going to mainly use it to trim up and dimension said white oak planks for use in furniture projects.I have lots of nails in this old lumber that are too deeply imbedded to remove, so cutting on my table saw or with a circular saw are too dangerous and damaging to the blades until I get the metal contaminated sections cut out.Perfect job for a heavy sawzall.With being able to turn the blade 90 degrees to the body, I can pull it through the lumber like a big jig saw, thus reducing the effort and fatigue a regular sawzall would cause.Other than the higher level of vibration than the Milwaukee, the only other detraction I could come up with is that the adjustable shoe has too little adjustment.I would like to see at least two more notches added to the three it currently has.This would give more options for cutting thin materials and varying where the blade wears in use.Bottom line:After all the shopping and comparing I did, and finally getting my hands on it, I would definitely recommend this saw to anyone needing a really heavy duty and flexible sawzall.

Beautiful tool
Whether ripping straight lines through plywood or making intricate scroll cuts, this jigsaw performs flawlessly.The quality is apparent just by holding it your hand- it's one of those tools that will probably outlive it's owner...Knocking it because of the country of origin is a philosophical/political argument and says nothing about the actual quality of the tool.Bosch's industry best 3 year warranty and the positive comments from people who have actually used it speaks volumes though.

Made in China, should be $10
Where is the savings?Pay a premium for an item made in China at a huge discount.That sounds like a good deal (no jobs left and no savings - sign me up for that program).I will return this "discounted" item asap; or better yet, use it as a hammer.

My quest begins for tools made in this country - such as Milwaukee orbital sawzall: good price, excellent tool, would have paid much more.I do not care if a tool(made here) costs three times as much as one made in China and I have to spend three weeks locating it!Tell that to your economics professor.

Made in China -- so what?
I first bought a DeWalt, and it was horrible -- tons of blade deflection, slow cutting, etc. Someone recommended the Bosch, and it was like night and day. This is the Cadillac of jigsaws! I've owned the top handle version for six years now, and I'm about to add the barrel grip to my collection.

To the reviewer who was shocked to discover that this "supposedly quality tool" was made in China (which has long been known as the PRC): did you really give this excellent tool one star simply due to its origin? Capable saw - just no wow!
I bought this saw through Amazon and was very pleased with the buying experience
- Saw was shipped via ABF and could be tracked via a tracking number
- Arrived on the anticipated date, everything in excellent condition
- The driver even dropped the boxes in the garage for my wife
- Promotional discount and free shipping brought this saw close to the next tier lower Delta saws

I've been a weekend saw dust creator for about 10 years. This saw replaced a Ryobi BT3000 that has served well for what it is, but it was time to trade up.

In my research on saws I came to the following conclusion:what distinguishes top end contractor saws is primarily the fence system and second the trueness of the table.I bought this saw because I wanted a Biesemeyer fence and a saw that was made in the USA (the motor is made in Mexico).

And that is exactly what I got.The saw is very heavy.It was dead-on true right out of the box.I installed the splitter and blade guard, both have worked flawlessly in a variety of crosscut and ripping tasks.I've always worked without either, but after a coworker lost a finger a few months back, I wanted a saw that came equipped with a serviceable safety system.

But realize this saw is essentially the 36-444 with upgraded knobs and wheels.The instruction manual is for the 36-441.

I am less than pleased with the quality of the Bies fence.The quality of build of the extension table was poor and I'm concerned it is spreading the side rails.The assembly instructions call for a z-bracket that was not shipped with the table extension.After a call to Delta, they informed me this step is no longer required and the hardware not included.Why not include a slip of paper with the assembly instructions notifying of this change?This cost me a weekend of time.Second, one of the screw holes that attach the fence guide did not line up with the corresponding hole in the front rail.Finally, the fence is very stiff and hard to move from side to side (see the comment above about the extension table).I have had no luck with Biesemeyer service to solve this problem.

I suppose I got what I paid for - the saw cuts cleanly, accurately, is safe and stable.It just doesn't have any Wow! factor to justify the X5 marketing and price.Too many little hassles and imperfections to make this a really great saw commensurate with its marketing.

Great table saw if you don't have room for a cabinet saw
I assembled this saw by myself - even mounting the cast iron extension wing - and had no problems.Takes some time to put it together but you really get to know how a table saw works.I found that the saw table was flat front to back, side to side and diagonally (within 0.005" - the thinnest feeler guage I have) measured with a feeler guage set and 24" precision straight edge.Both the cast iron extension wing and the extension table were easy to align and planarize with the main table.Once again flat within the limit of my measurement.I suspect the surface was nearly perfectly flat as I could see no light under the edge of the straight edge.The blade was parallel with the miter slot out of the box.The Biesemeyer fence was parallel with the miter slot out of the box.The only adjustment I had to make was setting the 45 and 90 degree stops which was quite easy.The extension table requires that you drill holes in the wooden support and it does take some time to get the saw table and extension table planar and flat which needs to be done before you drill holes in the support.Fit and finish were excellent - no marred paint or other blemishes on any component.Rewired the motor for 230V using the wiring diagram provided on the motor plate.Cuts like a hot knife in butter using the provided blade.Excellent saw for the serious hobbyist.

Love the B-meyer fence...but what about all the dust
I have owned this saw for about 1 1/2 years and I have found it is powerful enough to cut through everything I have put in front of it.The Biesmeyer fence is rock solid.My only complaint is a huge one for me and that is the dust collection inadequacies of this saw.I worked in my home's basement for 1 year and this saw made that arrangement impossible.Short of building a dust collection stand under the saw (Wood Magazine Oct. 2003) there is no way to collect the saw dust.I have moved to the garage and continue to use this saw.I am really sorry I did not forsee the dust problem and pay the $$$$$ for a cabinet saw. A good dust collector
I've ownedmine for a couple years now & have had no problems. The only thing I can complain about is that it's kind of a hassel re-attaching the dust bag when you empty it. It can be hard holding the bag up around the canister and getting the metal band around it at the same time. Maybe a zipper to empty it ?

How many more projects could you complete in a year if you cut your sanding time by 75 percent? Put down that random orbital and check this out. This open-ended drum sander allows you to quickly sand materials up to 32 inches wide with just two passes through the machine. The 16-32 Plus has a 14 amp, 1-1/2-horsepower, continuous-duty motor, which means it will work harder for longer. Worst Tool In My Shop
Purchased the 16-32 from Amazon.com almost a year ago. I really wish I could say just one good word about this machine, but cannot.I purchased the machine to save time, therefore expense, and to improve the quality of my work. Sadly, it has failed on all counts. In fact, just the oppisite has occured.
The machine arrived on time and in good condition. Assembly was basically simple and straight forward. The first problem occured on the first use and was a forebearer of things to come. The main motor overload switch was defective and cut out immediately when put under load. I contacted WMH tool group, whose tech service is first rate and very helpful, and a new switch was sent right away. Next I noticed that the feed belt did not track properly. One year later, calls to tech service, and many attempts at adjustment, it still does not track properly. At about 5 months the original feed belt disintegrated, a $50 replacement expense. Next problem was sanding strips loading up after short use. Tech service advised me to soak them in Simple Green to clean them. This works, but it is a PIA, and Tech service didn't tell me that soon after doing this the the ends of the strips fray and come loose, usually causing a disaster. I finally learned the only way to get any strip life at all, as well as getting any quality work, is to bearly have the abrasive kiss the work. Never more that a quarter turn of the adjustment handle at a time, as well as using a very slow feed speed. This is all well and good except it takes you forever to get anything done. So much for time saving. Next problem is installing the strips. I am not an mechanical engineer, but if one could not design a better way of fastening the ends of the strips, they should just give up and find another profession. It is totalfinger busting aggravation. The stupid little tool that is supposed to assist in this task is a total joke. I have asked several users about this and all I get is a smile and the remark "I threw mine away". Finally the worst problem. I soon found out that if sanding anything longer than two feet, the machine left snipe marks about two inches from each end. These marks are very slight, cannot be seen or felt until stain is applied to the piece. Then there is no choice but to totally resand (by hand) the piece. I have talked to tech service about this and made every adjustment reccommended, all to no avail. Maybe the oppional extension tables would help, but another $100 at this point? Don't think so. Also the name says 16-32. Better to say 13. To sand near the ends of the drum invites diaster. To sand a wide piece from each side, forget it. Yes, my drum is adjusted perfectly parallel. Spent a large amount of time checking and rechecking this adjustment, as it is the most important one.
The final straw came when this machine nearly ruined the table top from a $1200 table. It is now in the corner of my shop, waiting my decision on what to do with it.
In my opinion, this machine is only good for sanding small parts, if everything goes well. Even that takes more time than sanding by hand ( belt or orbital sander).

Not what I had hoped for
I wonder if all of these other reviewers are using the same machine as I have been for the last 5 years.My relationship with the sander is truly a love, hate one.When it works great I love it for the time savings, but when things go wrong (which they often due) I truly hate this machine.
One of the first problems I had was snipes, at the beginning and end of long boards.After working extensively with there Performax's technical staff (which is one of the best in the business), I finally gave up and just sanded out the problems with my ROS later.
The next problem is with the underpower of the machine.I cannot count how many times I have been sanding a board and come to a rough spot and had the motor stall.This causes an enormous gouge in the board that requires you to remove another 1/16" to conceal the problem.
The newest problem that I have been having is with the sandpaper over lapping itself on the drum. This will not only cause a black streak on the board, but also destroy an $8.00 piece of sandpaper. (yes it is tight on the drum and no I am not stupid)
Would I buy this machine again? No. Too much headache for the few times that it has really benefited me.

Right Sized, but Heavy Duty!
I've waited too long to purchase the Performax 16-32 Plus.I wish I would had it years ago.I purchase rough cut exotic hardwoods from the mill. Most often it is the waviest and curliest grains I need or desire.A knife borne planer is out of the question; professional sanding costs at least $60.00 an hour.The 16-32 Plus is built for continuous duty while taking up a minimum of shop space.Assembly was smooth and contruction is sturdy; took about 90 minutes at a steady pace.Alignment was checked but required no adjustment. Operation is smooth consistant; surfaced 100 board feet of Hawaiian Koa in one day.I bought the in/outfeed tables but haven't needed them.I opt'd for after market casters (Woodcraft) vice the optional $100.00 ones. Don't let the price scare you; buy quality and cry once, buy an imitation and cry everytime you use it.NOTES: You must have a good dust collection system, the 16-32 produces!Use a dedicated 20A circuit and a short heavy duty extension cord.Lastly, Enjoy the hobby. ... Engineer/Woodworker
I purchased this jig despite the negative reviews published on Amazon.com.The fine woodworking magazine recently rated this jig as the best overall value.The jig is made in China, and the casting meets all expectations of an inferior casting.If you buy this product be prepared to tap all of the screw holes, otherwise it cannot be assembled.It is too bad that Delta management is moving production to low cost countries.It's time for me to fine a new reputable manufacturer of woodworking tools.

Not up to Delta standards..or maybe it is
I'm a pretty patient guy, but this tool really pushed the envelope. Disassembling and cleaning was no big deal, had some problems with screw holes that had some pretty bad burrs on em, took a couple of hours to clean, and reassemble. As soon as I mounted in my miter slot, I noticed it rocked pretty badly, thought maybe the guide was out of whack, but it turned out that the base was no where close to flat. It was almost a 1/8th of an inch out. When you would press down on the blade side of the guide, the outboard side had an 1/8 of an inch space between it and the table. I double checked the instruction manual, but couldn't find any way to "adjust" it out. Called Delta, no joy there, they said it must be my saw table top. I have a Dewalt 746, have had it for a few years now, and my table is flat. Turns out the base was incorrectly machined, the bottom side is not flat or parallel to the top of the base. Called Delta again and they had no answer other than return it and get a new one from the store. Took it back to HD, they weren't very receptive to replacing it, wanted me to wait while they returned it to Delta and got it fixed. One of the "tool" guys told me they have returned a number of these jigs...guess that is why they were on sale. At any rate after more than an hour of hassle, I demanded a refund and took my business elswhere. I went to my local woodworker store (where I should have gone to begin with), they have about 5 differant jigs in stock and they took the time to show me the good and bad about each one they carry. I ended up buying the Shop Fox D3246. It cost 10 bucks more than the Delta, but is heavier built and has more features. I have quite a few Delta tools in my shop, and I am pretty much satisfied with their performance, but this makes three Delta tools I have returned in the last few years because of shoddy workmanship and pretty bad customer service. I also think that HD has seen the last of my money for anything. Wouldn't recommend this tool to anyone.

Roughly Made Jig
I bought this after using the older model and was very disappointed in the quality of the castings and the hardware. The old one, which is still available at a lower price, is a better made piece of equipment. The "deluxe" version is sloppier in its movements and reminds me of the junk we used to see out of China several years ago. Of course the simple operations required of this jig may not require it to be sophisticated but its still disapointing. This product works!
I have 2 of these, one downstairs and one upstairs. I cannot believe the difference in the air quality! My home no longer smells of smoke and it has cut down on relatives allergies to my 3 cats! I recommend this to anyone wanting a silent air purifier that truly works.

FTC needs to look into this..!
I have had TWO of these for a couple of months. I have pets, a tree that is shedding pollin, and survived a smokey month of fires in Southern California. Sadly, I feel completely DUPED! Absolutely no improvement. Not even a minor change in my indoor air quality. I smelled something that might have been mistaken for better air, for about a week, then that was it. After that, not even a better smell.

One Ionic breeze was in a small room, another in a big room. Didn't make any difference, regardless of the area that needed to be purified. I thought that, at least the one in an 11 x 10 room would have just COOKED! But the pollin, and pet smells were just the same as before the Ionic breeze! No improvement of any kind. Nothing.

... I am really distressed that so many people are turning over a great deal of money for an eyesore that does nothing it claims....and I have a more recent model (new and improved) than this one!

I am so glad I bought this product
I was reluctant to buy the Ionic Breeze Quadra because of the price. Dust allergies, two dogs, and a dislike of noisy appliances are the reasons I decided to purchase the product. I was really surprised because it is so quiet. Then, after two weeks I decided to clean the grid. Wow - where did all that dirt come from? I'm still amazed when I clean it every week at how much black stuff it collects. How could something so quiet clean the air so well? not quite like photo
The photo looks exactly like the Jet model with a large, easy to turn plasstic knob but this Woodstock International model blast gate has only a tiny little metal thumb screw instead.The price difference is worth it in my opinion, but be warned.

Stop what you are doing and buy this tool
If you're like me, and have been using a cordless drill to drive screws and lag bolts for construction purposes for years, put them away and buy this tool immediately!Here's the deal:

1) These makita impact drivers (12 volts) have twice the torque of your favorite (14-, 18- or 24-) volt cordless drill)

2) When you're driving a long screw into Southern Yellow Pine, decking, or construction lumber, you know that as much as the fastener is resisting turning into the lumber, that much reactive torque again is coming out the end of you're drills handle, forcing you to brace yourself, push with all your might, get worn out, etc.

I bought this tool a few months ago on the advice of a friend.A bad car accident some time ago relieved me of much of my former upper body strength, and I just could not apply the force required to drive 2-1/2" + construction screws or lags with cordless drills.Because the makita uses an impact mechanism to drive the fasteners, it sends zero reactive torque back to the user.none.zero.zilch.You can drive 6" timber screws through SYP or engineered lumber with this thing, even over your head or while leaning on a ladder, and they go right in, no fooling.You'll need to apply about as much pressure to the gun as you'd use to hold a can of beer.It's that powerful.

Three words:buy this tool!

Addressing some complaints:
A) It's loud.Yeah, so are circular saws, hammer drills, table saws, routers, vaccum cleaners, lawnmowers, planers, etc.See the connection?All these things can be found on CONSTRUCTION SITES.Construction Sites are NOISY PLACES.Don't use this tool (or any of the above) in the nursery while the baby is sleeping...

B) It's too powerful.Don't do fine detail work with this, like securing cabinet hardware or tightening electrical screws.Since you don't feel reactive torque, you don't know how badly you're stripping the screws and holes.That stuff is why we all still have screwdrivers in our toolboxes.

Great tool
Well, I had this tool for almost two years now and I am quite satisfied with it.It squeezes into tight places and is very light weight with plenty of torque. The only complaint I have is that the battery seemed to die a little quickly.I abused this tool a little (the trigger cover broke off, the variable speed no longer works and I dropped it too many times to keep count of), but it keeps working.I plan to get a 14.4 volt model next for a little more torque and battery longevity. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the batter issue.

Powerful quality
As a professional cabinetmaker/fabricator I have all manner of power tools (a half dozen routers, six drills, grinders, various saws, etc.), but this is far and away my favorite of the lot. Sure, comparing a router to a drill is silly, but some tools make you feel good while you're using them and others just don't get you very excited. Somewhere in that recipe for power tool bliss is a combination of quality, effectiveness, ergonomics, and several other mystery ingredients. This tool has them all.

With an all-metal gear housing, fine bearing and gear innards, and a sturdy plastic body, this tool just feels like quality. It purrs when you run it. It is light and compact, and for those of us who have gotten over the need for flashy macho power tools and have instead prioritized effective function over fashionable mega-volts sure appreciate a tool that gets the job done and doesn't give us tendonitis after a couple hours. You pros who use your tools all day know what I'm talking about. The compact size is great for cabinetmaking and working in smaller spaces.

This machine is plenty powerful. Makita and all of the other guys make 14.4V, 18V, and even 24V (paleeeze!) impact drivers, but I can't imagine how they would be necessary for 98% of the users out there. The guys at work won't snap towels at you in the locker room if you show up with this tool, even though it is only 12V. Once they see it in action they'll want one too! You can drive all day with this baby and the batteries last for an amazingly long time. I use mine mainly for driving screws into wood, but I've also used it for driving lag screws and other heavier applications. No problem.

There is one thing, however, that every potential buyer should know. This tool is not a direct substitute for a regular drill, even with the excellent optional drill chuck available from Makita. This tool drives fasteners into materials about as effectively as possible, but it is a mediocre drill. It will do in a pinch (I've even run taps with it), but it is more of a secondary tool than a primary drill. Use it in conjunction with your favorite power drill for best results. Building a deck and driving 1,000 deck screws? Buy this tool. Drilling a bunch of holes in metal, wood, or any other material? Get out your drill.

That being said, I love this tool. I've gotten more use and satisfaction out of it than any tool in my arsenal and I can't say enough good things about it. Buy and be happy! ... Read more

Toss your dado shims. You’ll never tuck another scrap of newspaper between your dado blades again. Freud’s ingenious hybrid dado cutter is a cross between the traditional stacked set and the convenience of the dial dado. The stacked sets make gorgeous, flat-bottom dadoes, but sometimes achieving the perfect width is a challenge. Woodworkers had resigned themselves to slipping scraps of paper between the chipper blades, experimenting to get just the right measurement. Excellent tool with superb craftsmanship.Freud is top quality in my book.

I recommend paying extra for better
I used to do all of my ratteting and dado cutting with various size straight/rabbet router bits and a homemade jig/guide fence system.I figured I'd bite the bullet and buy a dado blade.After doing some research and getting over the sticker shock of the average $200-$250 price range for most dado sets, I figured that I go for the SD208 for only $90.I figured that since it is from Freud, it can't be all that bad, no matter how much cheaper it is than the other models.Overall, I think the SD208 is a good buy COMPARED to all of the other dado sets and their prices of 2-3 times more than the SD208.More specifically, here are my thoughts:

POSITIVE:

1) The storage/carrying case is great.Durable plastic with an arbor-like post to mount the blades on.

2)Price.As I said, this blade is a comparatively good deal compared to other sets in the $200-$250 price range.

3)Shims are included.From what I've been told, some sets don't include shims.I can't verify that, but this set does indeed include shims.I believe there are 5-7 differenly sized shims.

NEGATIVES

1)My biggest gripe with this set is that the bottom of the cuts are far from being flat.Whether using the outerblades by themselves, or using them with different configurations of chippers, each cut bottom has multiple ridges/blade marks.

2)Shims aren't size labeled.Freud gives a great little chart showing what size chippers and shims are needed for differentcuts.However, the shims aren't labeled at all.They are merely blank circular cuts of metal.However, as any woodworker knows, you should always run your own test cuts for any job...so I'm in no way livid with Freud.It would just be a little nicety if they could label the shims.

As I said, I think the SD208 set is comparatively a great blade for its price, when viewd against other sets.However, I would recommend not skimping on price and upgraded to one of the higher-end Freuds or a Forrest set.

Try to get it sharpened
I run a small woodworking shop and I purchased the Dial-A-Width Dado.I think it is a great dado, but it has a -12 degree grind on it.Every sharpening shop in Denver cannot sharpen it without buying an expensive computer program for their machines and they will not buy it unless they can make enough off the sharpening to pay for it.I called Freud about having them sharpen it and they said they are not in the sharpening business.Buyer beware. ... High quality and heavy duty
Nice functionality on drill and hammer function.
Lots of torque and battery life is remarkable.
I am right-handed and have large hands which means that I have to use care to fully depress "forward" button when changing from "reverse" to "forward" (it is a little awkwardly positioned). I did have difficulty engaging the hammer function one time, which sorted itself out after switching from "forward" to "reverse" and back again...

The saw is a dream with regards to weight, balance and power.
It does however, as everyone says, use up the batteries quite quickly (more than 4 long diagonal cuts of a 2x10 will kill a battery). But remember, it isn't expected to compete with a normal AC power tool...

I would recommend that Dewalt sell this kit with one of the normal heavy duty 18V batteries and one of the extra heavy duty batteries to make the kit even better.

Heavy Power
This is an excellent combo with more power than most people will need for the job.The drill is the heart of the deal with the drill alone retailing for only $100 less than this kit.It has 450 inch-pounds of torque, which is enough to ripe the head off an unsuspecting dry-wall screw (this is great! nice power).The chuck and grip are well designed.If these tools have a draw back it would be the price (a bit on the high side) and weight (there are not light...which feels good, but what about the end of the day?), but ultimately these tools are comfortable, powerful, and really loveable. ...
