    Editorial Review

To be honest, we looked twice at the price, certain the folks at Amazon had made a mistake. But sure enough, they're right--and so is the price. Porter-Cable makes some of the best pneumatic tools in the industry, and these nailers are two prime examples. The 16-gauge is sturdy, compact, lighter and quieter than you'd expect with a grip even smaller hands can get around. Great balance, easy depth-of-drive adjustment, and a pleasure to use. Similarly, the 18-gauge is light but rugged, comfortable and maneuverable, even in awkward places or after long runs. Some other features we like: a special hardened driver blade, a sequential fire trigger, a visual reload indicator, a safety located behind the driver guide for driving brads in tight spaces and an easy-to-adjust depth guide. Both guns have directional exhausts, too. The pancake-style compressor has a six-gallon tank and easily runs both guns at the same time. It's light, portable and doesn't want much from you in terms of maintenance--it's oil-free and Teflon-coated. Some other reasons to like it: a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. We can't imagine this deal will be around forever.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars It's a keeper!
Based on the good reviews from the Amazon Community, I bought this for my husband for Valentine's Day.Yes, I agree with other reviewers that the compressor is a little noisy, but they all are, and this one more than makes up for noise with its portability.(And I was able to talk him out of our big old compressor for MY shop...)The first thing he did was whip together a nice display shelf for a friend. After that he told me he REALLY wished he'd had it 2 weeks earlier when he was cussing over installing crown molding and trim around the windows.Since I'm the one who had to fill and sand nail-holes, I wish he'd had it, too.
It took a little adjusting, but he was able to get the settings just right so the nails go in perfectly flush with both nail guns.
So far he's enthusiastically built 2 beautiful kitchen drawers---and drawers were something I couldn't get him to build for years---so I'm glad I bought this for him!
I did my market research, and there was no way I could buy separate components and come anywhere near the price of this package. This is really a good deal, and (of course, since it's Porter-Cable), excellent quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny how it works like that....
I also couldn't agree more with all of the other reviewers.I got the kit for Christmas from my wife and I absolutely love it.I'm fairly new to the home improvement/carpentry game, but I am very excited to tackle some new projects (mostly putting up some molding).I have used the gun briefly so far to build a desk, and it went SO much faster than it would have otherwise.

MORE IMPORTANTLY.. I actually first came across this Amazon page because I was upset that I never received my free staple gun (mine was actually bought from Home Depot). It definitely looks as though I am not the only one.Yesterday (4/3/05) I sent a nice little email to Porter-Cable thru their website and told them that I was not alone in my hunt for the free staple gun.Wouldn't you know that about 10 minutes ago the UPS guy just showed up with it!I was blown away. They haven't even had time to respond to my email yet.So anyways, don't give up hope... I imagine they should be coming soon.I mailed my rebate away either in late December or early January, if that helps to give a time frame.

4-0 out of 5 stars You will never use a hammer again
I agree with all the other great reviews.Trust the reviews they are right on the money. You can't go wrong with this set. Also, Amazon is definitally the best price. With the $$ off, free shipping, and no sales tax, the big orange store can't compete.
The only problem is the free stapler that some of the reviews have referenced.I couldn't find any paper work for a free stapler and it doesn't look like anybody is receiving it.It looks like it was too good to be true. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Paid a lot more locally but I still think it's worth it!
I was installing hardwood flooring and rented the hardwood nailer. I was going to buy a cheaper model finish nailer, but the local tool store had four of these "special" promotion package deals for $279.99. I needed it right away, so I grabbed one and am very happy I did. Shot about 200 2" nails into 3/4" maple flooring with no problems. Have not tried the brad nailer yet, but based on the 41XP I will love it!

These are the first nailers I have ever owned or used, but I am amazed at how easy they operate. Another comment that may interest someone is that the hardwood floor nailer I rented was also made by Senco. Shot over 3,000 nails with no jams. I will definetely look for another Senco next time I install hardwood!!!

The 1Z0013N product number is for FP41-XP bundled with 18ga brad nailer. There are many reviews of the FP41-XP under another product number.(You guessed it - FP41-XP.)Of the 17 reviews there (as of 09/19/03) all were four or five stars.Sounds like an excellent gun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gun!
I've been installing lots of crown molding with an 18 gauge brad nailer and have been putting off the purchase of a 15 gauge finish nailer, until recently.I decided to go with the best and bought the Senco FP 41XP.I am very impressed with the engineering of the gun.It is well balanced, lightweight, silky smooth and fires reliably without leaving a mark.I highly recommend the Senco FP 41XP(too bad I bought my gun before Amazon decided to throw the FP15 gun in with the deal). ... Editorial Review

This magnesium round-head framing nailer from Porter-Cable is a rugged, lightweight piece of equipment. The nailer's magnesium housing is several pounds lighter than regular models, but it still offers the durability you expect on the job site. We didn't notice any difference structurally from nonmagnesium models, except for the obvious difference in weight--which is a pretty big deal, considering a framer wields a nailer more than any other tool throughout the course of a day. The gun's handle is ergonomically designed, with a slip-resistant rubber grip that's comfortable to hold.A nail lockout mechanism alerts you when it's time to reload, so you won't waste time firing blanks. There's also a jam release knob located right on the magazine. To round out its impressive feature list, this magnesium nailer also has an easy-to-use depth-of-drive adjustment, a barbed nose for easy toenailing, a rubber foot pad for sheathing and decking, a large air chamber for added power, and an adjustable exhaust port. The gun accepts standard 22-degree, plastic, collated round-head stick nails from 2-3/8 to 3-1/2 inches long. The kit comes with a 1/4-inch male quick coupler (with dust cover), oil for the nailer, and wrenches. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, Reliable, Reliable!
I bought a used FR350MAG over a year ago because I wanted a lighter round-headed nailer.I remodeled a friend's (HUGE) basement and built a 12x20 deck with this nailer, shot thousands of nails and never once did it misfire.

I'm a tool fanatic and love to keep my tools in good shape.I understand the want for a case, but the box it comes in does a pretty good job of keeping this thing protected and luggable. Box vs. case is not that big of a drawback, nor would I make it a major point in deciding which nailer to buy.If you plan to shoot a lot of nails, weight and reliability make all the difference in the world...especially if your shooting above your head or trying out some new-fangled yoga position hanging off a joist.

As others have mentioned, I have inadvertantly double-tapped this thing a few times. It will definitely let you know you're alive, but a quick call to PC and you'll have yourself a new trigger that will eliminate the multiple bump-fire capability.

Also, setting the depth may take a couple of test fires to get it right, but, again, I've had no real issues with that either.

The bottom line:If you want a framing nailer that's lighter than most, easy to load/use and fires every time, buy this one. When it comes to air nailers, PC knows its stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfecto
I am a professed "Weekend Warrior", renovating my home in PA.Bought this nailer because the DeWalt model was so badly panned.I have not been disappointed.Have fired well over 1000 nails & the only thing slowing me down is reloading. The gun will not fire with 2 or 3 nails left in the magazine, but other thanthat, it is flawless. After working for a few hours, the nailer does get heavy, but it is worth it not to have to hammer all those nails.I nailed down a 10' x 20' subfloor in about 1/4 the time it would have taken me with a hammer & nail.No misfires. It is a joy to use!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleased so far, but I haven't used it alot
I purchased this framing gun after buying a PC finishing nailer that I abosolutely loved. So far, I have been pretty happy. The first nail out of the gun didn't even make it to the wall.Ever since, it has worked like a charm.I am a home hobbiest and thought that such a large and bulky nailer would be cumbersome to work with, but I have been amazed how well it "feels" in my hand and how little problem I have had with the bulk.Overall, I have been very happy with my purchase. ... This Porter-Cable 18-gauge, 2-inch brad nailer is a compact, comfortable-to-carry unit that might not offer quite as many extras as other (more expensive) units, but it's very reliable and does its job well. This nailer shoots standard brads from 3/4 to 2 inches long and has an anodized magazine with a reload indicator. The die-cast aluminum body is lightweight but still very strong, and the handle is comfortable to hold, even over long periods of time. The quick-release nosepiece lets you clear jams quickly and easily. Other features include a sequential fire trigger, a safety that's located behind the driver guide for driving brads in tight spaces, an easy-to-adjust depth guide, a directional exhaust port, and a removable rubber nose. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool!
My company owns 2 of these brad nailers and we really like using them. This unit was well thought out even down to the nice compact case it comes in that so nicely holds a full box of brad nails. I say this because I also have a Senco brad nailer FP25XP and the case size is huge in comparison. The BN 200A is a no nonsense brad nailer that works. In comparison with the Senco FP25XP the performance seems comperable with the Senco in "Turbo" mode (switch is on the side of gun). I have no idea what you would do with normal mode as the nails would not set for me. The Porter cable nailer is a little smaller as well but in all fairness is limited to 2" as compared to Senco 2 1/8" brads. This makes no difference to me though since the common size available is 2". At this point my choice for my next purchase would be the Porter Cable BN 200A.
Note: We use these units primarily to install shoe molding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well for this DIYer
I must admit, I have very little experience with nail guns and this is my first one. When I was in the market I was torn between the PC BN200A and a comparable Senco. My boss (who is a general contractor) tried to talk me into the Senco. He states he has had very goodluck with them in the past. Well due to the cost and the reviews of both, I decided to go with the PC. I have no regrets so far. I have done many projects around the home, including all trim in my house. It has not had any problems. The depth gauge works well. The exhaust port can be directed away from your face. It fits into tight places. It is comfortable in my hand. It has not jammed so far and it is fairly inexpensive. Overall, I am pleased with it and would purchase another PC nailer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well, great price, better than Senco FP18
I was looking for a 2" brad nailer to do wood trim and help with furniture building.I wanted an 18 gauge for the tiny hole that it makes and virtually non-existent wood splitting compared to a 15 or 16 gauge nailer.2" is enough to go through the trim and drywall and bite into the wall stud.

I originally bought a Senco FP18 brad nailer based on Senco's reputation and the fact that it went on sale for a great price at the local Menards. However, it did not set brads very deep in the wood - barely 1/32" below the surface, any size nail, any type of wood, at 120 psi.

The Senco went back, and I ordered this Porter Cable from Amazon with the free shipping. Ordered Sunday night, arrived Thursday. This nailer has a very solid feel and does an excellent job setting the brads deeply into any wood, including 2" brads into solid red oak.It works fine off of 90 psi.

I am very happy with this unit, and with Amazon's shipping.I've ordered lots of various things from Amazon and always have great results. ... Read more

Imagine combining the power of a pneumatic brad nailer with the convenience of a battery-powered unit. The Porter-Cable BN200V12 cordless 18-gauge brad nailer kit offers just that kind of choice. Connect it to an external air compressor, and you have a powerful pneumatic nailer. Or attach the 12-volt battery and let the onboard compressor do the job. Either way, you'll get a reliable brad nailer capable of firing standard 3/4- to 2-inch, 18-gauge brad nails into virtually any wood surface cleanly and accurately. Versatility like this is obviously a huge boon to remodelers who'd like to get in and out of a job without having to haul out a compressor and dirty hoses. (As you would expect, the onboard compressor makes this nailer heavier and somewhat less maneuverable than standard models.) Tool-free depth adjustments are quick and precise. A quick-release nosepiece allows for fast jam clearing, and a removable rubber nose cushion prevents marring on finished surfaces. Built-in auto shutoff, automatic pressure release, and self-diagnostic features provide added convenience. --Carl Thress ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I wish this one would work!
I purchased 2 of these units approx 10 mos ago and really enjoyed using them for the 1st 4 mos. It is a neat idea and saves alot of effort not having to haul a compressor and hose with you on small jobs. However, I began having problems with these units. Both units stopped building air pressure from the built in compressor and then one of them would not fire even when coneccted to external air (a neat option). Both units have now been back to Porter Cable twice to be repaired and one of them keeps coming back from Porter Cable cleaned up and said to be repaired but is non functional. I really like these units and wish Porter Cable could fix the problem but perhaps it's a poor mechanical design.
Note: I primarily use these units to install shoe molding on small jobs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deserves an award for design!
This tool is made in Taiwan, as the other Porter cordless tools are, not in USA which is stated in the Amazon info.

This nailer fired right up & worked flawlessly, and feels lighter than it looks. It is balanced quite nicely, and if you are looking to not have to set up the ole compressor or drag a hose around this tool is great.I also bought the Porter 12V cordless drill instead of another battery, since the drill comes with 2 batteries (that's $110 in batteries included with the $139 drill!) so I now have an extra battery for either tool.

Nice product. Is a shame Porter can't make these in USA too.If Makita can do it why can't Porter & DeWalt?

5-0 out of 5 stars So convenient not having to worry about a huge compressor
This is probably one of the best things to become cordless since the drill. The innovation of the cordless drill makes it now almost unacceptable to have a corded model unless it's for powering through concrete or other hard material. The innovation of this cordless nailer means no electric cord, no stinky power cells, and best of all, no need to worry about a heavy compressor and pneumatic cords.

For me, this is super helpful for finish work on trim and molding around the house and building cabinets.Having to drag the compressor out of the storage closet was why I still used finish nails with regularity...but no more.I should have gotten this earlier along into my home renovations.Yes, it's a bit heavy but it's okay given that I have both battery and external compressor options.Yes, it can shoot only about 200-300 nails, but it's okay given that I don't come close to that amount and the charger is really quick. Most of my time is spent cutting or positioning wood to fit and I doubt I'd ever have everything cut and ready so all I do is nail all day.I've had this nailer for about a month and haven't had any problems at all.

I love this tool.Happy Father's Day to me! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good blow for your dough
Solid construction, good power and features, and a good price - you can't really go wrong with this unit. The dual fittings and compact footprint come in handy in a small workshop. It is a little on the noisy side (though quieter than some) and has only tripped the 15 amp circuit in my garage twice in the last few months of use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Miracle machine at ordinary compressor price
The specs say 15 Amps at 115 Volts. That gives 15x115=1725 watts. Divide by 745.7 (the number of watts per horsepower, by definition) and the result is about 2.313 horsepower. Apparently this "3 horsepower" machine makes about 0.687 horsepower out of thin air. That'll be great for on-site use at reduced power if no electricity is available. Gotta get one today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, but heavy to move around.
I have been a building contractor in California for over 26 years. This is the fourth compressor that I have bought. I have found it to to be a great value for the money.
Hasn't given us any of the trouble that our old " Emglo " unit did. ( blowing curcuit breakers, stalling, etc. )
My only complaint is its weight. Had I known, I would have purchased the next model up which comes with wheels. Weight is always a concern when moving from job to job. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent compressor, subpar customer service......
I purchased this compressor in May of 2004. Ordered it through Northern Tool.

The Northern Tool company is great in itself, transaction went through cleanly and quickly and the compressor was soon on its way to my home through freight shipping. Ordered a few other tools along with the compressor and those got to my house quickly and at an excellent price. But then when the nightmare began.

I received my air compressor sometime around mid june and broke the engine in as per manufacturer instructions. First day out on the job I ran it for about 10 minutes and it broke down! cost me 200 dollars in lost wages that day!

I called Ingersoll-Rand customer service. After waiting about 20 minutes to actually talk to someone they told me (in a quite rude manner) that I should take it to a specialized certified mechanic in town that fixes all of their products and that it wasnt a problem with the factory.

I took it to the mechanic they had referred me to only to find out they were not an Ingersoll-Rand service center! IR had revoked his certification because he wasnt meeting some kind of quota set by IR!

I called IR back to confirm the place and they told me not to go to the mechanic they had referred me to earlier, instead to go 150 miles south to a shop in Los Angeles! I, rather annoyed, reminded them that I was loosing money every day this machine was down and that I expected better service from them and better quality of product. Well they basicly told me I wasnt important and told me I had no choice but to take it down to Los Angeles or try to fix it myself.

Well I couldnt wait. I took the compressor apart and found out that some numbnut at the factory did not properly tighten the screws on the flywheels that connect the engine to the compressor pump. As a matter of fact it didnt even have the square key thats designed to hold the wheel in place! The wheel on the engine side had been stripped to the point where it was unusable.

Once again I called them to find out if the parts I could order to get this thing up and running again would be covered under warranty, and they told me since I took it apart it was no longer under warranty and that I was up the creek without a paddle.

50 dollars in parts later I had it up and running and I was making money again.

Since then the compressor has been excellent. It has not failed since I fixed it and it has a higher CFM per PSI than other compressors in its price range, and the Honda engine is one of the best and most reliable on the market right now. In all honesty I love this compressor but IRs customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Would I recommend this compressor? Yes, just make sure all the parts are tightened and in place becore you start it for the first time, especially the flywheels.

Am I happy with Ingersoll-Rand? Heck no. If push came to shove I will probably buy an Emglo or Dewalt compressor next time. ... Read more

What a clever little job this is. Our first thought was to take it to the shop and build picture frames--it's perfect for that, along with countless other finish and trim projects. The pins are so tiny, you really wouldn't need to fill the holes. It's as light as a stapler but fastens like a nailer. It has lots of power for its size as well as many of the features of its big brothers, like rear exhaust, easy jam-clearing, fast, simple loading, and a visible warning when your fasteners are running low. We like it!--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The 23ga micropinners are the best but this one is the WORST
The Idea of a micropinner is awesome. You can shoot 10 1 3/8" pins into a pencil and the pencil will not crack. The holding power is also very good because the pins have glue. The best thing about them is that you don't have to fill in the holes and you still don't see the pins. However, if you want to buy one I would stay far away from the SENCO. It is a cheap tool all around. The magazine jams, pins don't go all the way in, and you have to adjust the tool every time you use a different pin. I personally would suggest puchasing a GREX micropinner from E-Bay for the best price. If you are uncomfortable with the internet then contact GREX.

1-0 out of 5 stars O.K. for a homeowner who will use it a few times.
I owned 4 of these tools in the past for my cabinet shop. Over the past 4 years I have spent over $800.00 in maintenance. The biggest problem is that the driver blade breaks all the time. Since then I have purchased a GREX P635 and P630 and they work great. Over the past year they have only broken 1 driver blade that cost me $13.00. I now own 8 total and I don't have any problems. Stay away from the Finishpro 10 I strongly discourage it.

This is the 2nd. one of these I,ve had in 2 years, only because the Co. sent me a new one after my 1st. gave it up in less than a year. I'm a professional woodworker who depends on his tools and once again this one has let me down. I mabey at the most use this pinner once or twice a week and it lasted a year almost to the day. I'm very disapointed and will not be buying any more of this brand of tools. ... Read more

Light as a feather and mean as a junkyard dog, DeWalt's18-gauge brad nailer is a heck of a tool. We like the fit and feel ofit, and DeWalt wins points from us for putting low-nail indicators onthe side and the top of the magazine. The sliding depth adjustment isfantastic: just unlock it with your index finger, slide the adjustmentwith your other hand, and you're ready to fire. Like DeWalt's othernail guns, this model has a nice plus in the 360-degree swivel exhaustcap that directs the flow away from you. Great pad, too--it didn't maranything to which we introduced it. I received this nail gun as a free gift from DeWalt for purchasing a certain amount of products from them.I had previously used only Spot Nails and Omer nail guns, available only through a supplier, but as soon as I tried the DeWalt, I could tell it was superior even to my Spot Nails gun.I've used it for two years now in the cabinet and molding industry, and as my shop has grown, I will be getting a few more of these nail gun for my guys to use.I have recommended this gun to all of my friends in the industry.I do not blindly endorse DeWalt products, but this nail gun really is a good product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Woodshop work
I bought this item two years ago. I don't really use it all that often and it seems to have problems. The two inch Brads Jam. I ordered new parts and installed them and it still jams on 2" brads. All other size brads work without jamming. It really cost me a couple of man hours with the 2" brad choke. The next garage sale it's gone. I'll stay with Bostitch and Senco, they are my workhorses.

Bought this nailer for applying window trim in a screen room being enclosed with glass to convert it to a 4-season room.Sure beats holding the nail & llightly tapping it with a hammer & then worrying about accidentally hitting the glass with the hammer. There is no recoil & the only thing slowing me down is how fast the sleeve of nails disappears! No misfires, no problems, a real joy to use.Got the work done in at least 1/3 the time compared to a hammer & nail. ... Great for light framing--remodeling, especially--this Impulse cordless framing nailer from Paslode lets you avoid the hassle of compressor hoses and compressor noise. The nailer's small, 12-inch-long, lightweight body (6.9 pounds) is easy to hold and, because you're not dragging a hose, doesn't cause as much arm fatigue as other nailers. The nailer drives 2- to 3-1/4-inch nails and has easy-to-adjust drive depth and a high-visibility load magazine. This Paslode nailer uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and an included rechargeable battery. Overall, we were impressed with the nailer's performance--it's consistent and there's adequate power for most uses. This model shoots up to 1,200 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge. There's a convenient belt hanger so you don't have to lay the nailer on the ground or on top of a ladder or wedge it among rafters, and the high-visibility orange makes it difficult to misplace. The kit includes a plastic carrying case, a lightweight charger, and safety goggles. Please note that the nailer does not come with the fuel cell included. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

I bought this nail gun to finish a few rooms in my basement. The Paslode Framing Nailer worked flawlessly. It nailed pressure treated 2x4s perfectly.I didn't have a single problem with it.

The only thing I didn't like was the exhaust that the gun produces.Since it works off of an actual explosion, it gives off an exhasut that can be a little overwhelming if your not working outside or have the windows open.

5-0 out of 5 stars CUT YOUR UMBILICAL AIRHOSE PEOPLE!
Will someone please tell me what "light framing" is? The nature of the work itselfdoes not change whether one wants to use a 16 oz. hammer to put together a house or a framing gun.So I'm not quite sure what those reviewers mean when they say this gun is for "light framing". It shoots nails into wood! Does it's being cordless somehow translate into some kind of limitation? As long as this nailer is working like it ought to, I don't see any reason why one would hesitate to use it in any situation one night find onself in when framing a house. For reviewers to categorize this liberating tool as a novelty is misleading to those who might benefit from it's use. Cordless is the future, get used to it.

5-0 out of 5 stars "wireless" is better
I once had an ex army ranger turned framer tell me that he would rather jump out of a airplane with an air hose than a parachute, because the hose will surely get hung on something , somewhere on the way down.while this is a little far fetched, using the impulse gun eliminates the "hung up air hose".it is great for light framing and punch list work. i strongly recommend this gun for people in the remodel/repair industry as well as the do-it-yourselfer. ... This is an innovative tool whose time has most definitely come, making it possible for do-it-yourselfers to have all the power of an air nailer without buying a compressor, fooling with hoses, or putting up with the noise. And unlike other airless nailers, this one requires no fuel cells, and the battery is rechargeable just like those found in other cordless tools. Senco's AirFree brad nailer does the job, maybe with slightly less speed, but the convenience may be more than worth it. There's a slight delay when you press the trigger as the tool revs up, but you'll grow accustomed to the rhythm. It's powered by a 12-volt battery, never needs oil, and features an electronic depth-of-drive adjustment. Senco packs two batteries and a charger along with the nailer in a tough carrying case. You'll fire 600 to 1,000 nails on a charge, and a recharge takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Low vibration and a comfortable grip make this a heck of a tool. We really, really like this. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?
This tool manufactured by Senco is not good quilty and definitly not for professional applications. We have purchased a lot of senco pnumatic products in the past with very good results. This tool had poor results right away in dense woods. After some use the results where sparatic: 1) intrermitent falure to fire, 2) Unpredictable depth in the same piece of material & Jambing often. Both of our Senco AF25 Air free's currently sit out of service.
We have since Purchased sevral Dewalt 18V nailers ( Dewalt has 18V Vs 12V for the Senco ) the Dewalt also has a production seting that allows rapid fire like an air nailer; the Senco on the other hand does not have this feature.
I'm sorry to say, I reccamend a pass on this Senco product.

    1-0 out of 5 stars too bad . . .
When this tool works, it's great.Unfortunately, it's not reliable.I sent it back when the gun quit driving nails--revving up, then dying down--and the Senco dealer place fixed it and sent it back. It worked great . . . until today. Now it won't do anything.I called Senco, and they said it needs repair--the clutch is stuck, and they said that if hitting the thing with a hammer a few times won't free it up, it needs to be repaired.I called the closest repair place and the guy, who sounded tired, told me I could put mine in line with the other 6 he has waiting for backordered parts for repair.Since I need the thing to work when I need it to (I've had it for about a year, and use it for building cabinets) instead of when it feels like working, I guess I'll have to buy a compressor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Did not work out of the box!
I was looking forward to use it and when it finally arrived, it did not work at all with both batteries fully charged. The quality of workmanship was so so compare to other brands. I was really upset and decided to go with the Paslode 18Ga cordless nailer. I own the Paslode framing nailer and it worked great. So what if it needs fuel cells. At least it worked fawlessly.

Bottom line - don't get this gun. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

With this 2-1/2-inch, 16-gauge finish nailer, Porter-Cable continues to make good on their reputation as one of the top pneumatic toolmakers. The gun's straight magazine is well thought out, made from aluminum, and top loading. This is a sturdy, compact nailer that shoots a conveniently wide range of 16-gauge nails, from 3/4 to 2-1/2 inches. The nailer has a good balance and a nice, thin grip made of porous rubber. (You don't have to have the hands of a giant to comfortably operate this gun.) The gun has a nicely designed depth-of-drive adjustment. There's also a muffled exhaust port, so it's quieter than a lot of other nailers--plus the exhaust port is adjustable, so you can direct the discharge where you want it. The gun's also lighter than we'd expected, always a good thing in a tool a lot of us use all day long. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I Expected More From Porter Cable
Yet another Christmas present from my wife, and a very thoughtful one too, but I own Senco's and this PC just doesn't cut it.To me it seems rather clunky and old school.

I recently installed some 5/8" plywood shelves that I wanted to pin into the poplar supports.A project this gun should've handled with ease. Not only did I have a difficult time getting this gun into the space, which my Senco fit into, but it wouldn't even sink the nails!!I really couldn't believe it, so I got out my Senco and using the same 90 psi had no problems at all... it even countersunk them.

PC, like all tool companies, should stick with what they do best...in PC's case probably routers. I'll stick with Senco for nail guns. After reading my own review perhaps I should've given it two stars. Stick with the Senco.

Thanks and I hope you find this review helpful. And, Good Luck with your own dreams!

I purchased this item from Amazon refurbished. It arrived leaking oil and the nail depth adjustment didn't do anything. Regardless how high or low I adjusted the air pressure the nailer was shooting 1" nails through 1-1/2" lumber. Save yourself the aggravation and just buy new. ... Read more

Who wants to install 400 feet of crown molding? We'd be thefirst to volunteer, as long as we get to use this finish nailer.Weighing fewer than 4 pounds, it's light, ergonomically pleasant, andhas a great line of sight. Nails load in a second, and you have the nice option of lockand load, or load and lock--something we think every nailer shouldoffer. Jams clear in no time without tools, another feature that showsoff DeWalt's attention to detail. The pad is high quality and didn'tmar anything we tried it on. 1-0 out of 5 stars Good when it works.4 service trips in 10 box of nails
I bought this when it was on sale @ Home Despot when it first came out and there was a promo on.Let me preface this and say this one has been used by 3 or 4 of us home owners to put in baseboard, crown, and casing as well as a bunch of nailing on some hardwood floors.

Let me also state that I have $2k worth of other dewalt tools that work beautifully. This is the first and last pneumatic tool though.

I noticed that it did have a bit of a tendency to double tap. After using it a short bit, I lent it to a friend. He had a jam (we're both been using nothing but Porter Cable nails) of some sort that broke it.Being a good guy, he assumed it was his fault and paid $80 to have it repaired.

I got it back in working order, and then promptly had it break again. This time, I called Dewalt service and they said it was an early model and they would replace the piston which had been replaced in later models. They tested it and returned it to me working.

I ran through less than a strip of nails, and went to do something over my head, and discovered that it wouldn't fire upside down.Another trip back to the service center, and it was fixed again. When I took it home, I discovered that they'd replaced my sequential trigger with the other type.

    Arrrggh.

Anyway, when it works, this nailer is nice and lightweight. It sets nails beautifully.I'm not fond of the composite nail strip, nor the depth adjust and safety mechanism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best finish nailer out there!
My company installs hardwood floors and this is the best finish nailer out there. I also have 3 Porter Cable DA250B angled finish nailers and they would be my 2nd choice but have had more quality problems with them. The Senco sfn 35 was junk but the SFN 30 is OK as is the SFN 40. But I would still pick the Dewalt for the best finish nailer. We shoot through some tough wood species and while the Senco and Porter Cable nailers have failed the Dewalt proves reliable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plain tired of driving nails?

The specs say 15 Amps at 120 Volts. That gives 15x120=1800 watts. Divide by 745.7 (the number of watts per horsepower, by definition) and the result is about 2.414 horsepower. Apparently this "2-3/4 horsepower" machine makes about 0.336 horsepower out of thin air. That'll be great for on-site use (at reduced power) if no electricity is available. Gotta get one today!

First let me say that if it is Dewalt, I want it! I purchased this compressor to use to fix my roof after the hurricanes this year and to build my new house in a few months. This unit is great! When they said it had a 15 second recovery time, they were not kidding. And it puts out the air. It is built well. It is a little heavy, but that is OK. It is also not too loud. Great product!

So small, so light, but so powerful-—what a delight to use. It's just perfect for the professional upholsterer and the home do-it-yourselfer, too. Because it's so compact, it fits nicely into tight spaces, and its super light weight means no fatigue, even in the awkward positions upholsters can find themselves. We didn't experience any misfires or jams, but if they happen, just release the magazine and the driver blade guide retracts. We like the convenience of the end-load magazine, and because the staples are so thin, you get an impressive 185 loaded in the magazine, which of course means fewer stops to reload. And just like Porter-Cable's more ambitious nailers, this one's got a directional port to keep the exhaust off you and your workpiece. While it's in name an upholstery stapler, we think you'll find a lot more uses for this little worker.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Where to get staples
This gun is very comparable to other industrial upholstery staplers in features, design and quality, but it is considerably less expensive.

Since this is an upholstery stapler you can get staples from any upholstery supply shop.A hardware store will not carry them. When you go to your local upholstery supply shop ask for staples compatible with Empire 7, BeA 71, Bostitch BA71, JK 670, Rainco 7, or Senco C series staplers.Amazon's price for replacement staples is good considering they are galvanized, but you can get liquor finish staples cheaper at your local store. Many will carry stainless steel staples as well.

This stapler does not come with a case because it is an industrial tool.Upholstery shops do not bother putting their tools in boxes at the end of the day. Also upholstery shops don't make a lot of saw dust, at least not in the fabric part of the shop. For those using this stapler in a general purpose shop, a case would be nice but, as mentioned, one is not provided. The parts list mentions an optionally available case which can be purchased from your local factory service center for less than ten bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best little upholstery strapler
I own both hand and electric staplers but none of them compare to this air-powered stapler. I am in the business of making wooden cornice boards and have found stapling material to the boards much more easily using this tool than my other staplers. In addition I can get into tight spots with this stapler that I could not get into with my other staplers.

4-0 out of 5 stars So far so good
I've had the unit for about a month. Several cabinet spray jobs were very nice.

Can't speak, as of yet, to the longevity of the unit, however it does appear and feel to be substantial in quality for the range of price.

Found a source for additional air cap kits, cups, misc parts well below those "aerospace toilet seat" prices ;)

The unit shipped without the wire cup holder, Wagner support suggested I go back to Amazon to "get it right"..... which Amazon did very nicely.

Manual, as mentioned, lacks "how-to/what-if" instructions, but most of the tools I buy have similar manuals... I just wish the Wagner website offered more.

I consider this sprayer a good addition to my stable of other solutions.

Only four stars for now... unit is still too new to rate endurance, the missing part...goes to Wagner's packing mishap, Amazon.... I'll give five stars on customer support.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good Product - Poor Product Support
I purchashed the 2600 from Amazon to use in my custom entertainment center cabinet business. Most of my finishes are of stained maple using stain and poyyurethane top coat.Out of the box this unit performed great for the first couple of times. I sprayed the stain with perfect control and blended the color perfectly. The poly finish coats went on smooth as silk. Over spry was a little more that I expected, but much less that the conventional syphon spray rig used previously.

I was very disappointed with the check valve which was difficult to clean and being small and delicate was easy to loose, which I did after about the forth cleaning.I installed a new tube and used it without the check valve for several weeks, but had to be careful not to tip the gun or overfill the cup or I got gobs of spray on the project.

I tried to get a replacement for the check valve, but all the listed parts dealers were mostly small lawn mower shops, and when I call them they said they no longer support the Wagner Product.

Last week I had a major failure with the turbine compressor and the motor burned up.I called the factory for support and they informed my they do not have any factory support, no longer make this unit and I had to call someone on the warranty list for help.Everyone on the list I called no longer support the product.Looks like I am "up the creek"

My advice is to pay a little more money and get a product that will perform, but can get support for the product. These things do weare and get damaged through normal use and product support is essential. I am experienced at spray applications, and although the product did perform extremly well for the price, without support it is worthless.Don't waste your money!

1-0 out of 5 stars Hope you don't need parts
This is a reasonably nice product with abysmal documentation. I've used it with several different materials with success.

However, I'm preparing to spray some waterborne lacquer and the product manufacturer suggested a 1mm tip diameter. So I went looking for one.

I spent a half hour searching the documentation and Wagner's multiple web sites for replacement tips. The standard tip is a #3, so a reasonable person would think there must be a #1 and #2, but noooo, #3 is it.Not only that, a replacement #3 tip is $32 and the air cap is $59!Not surprising I suppose when they charge $1.99 for a 5-cent lock washer.

I'm retired from aerospace and a $600 toilet seat is looking like a real bargain.

If it weren't for the aforementioned problems, I would probably give this unit 4 or 5 stars. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This contractor is very pleased... with the compressor
I own several portable compressors, but hate to lug them around. So, I bought this one for installations of wood mantels and little odd and ends work (like attaching a piece of trim after the rest of the job is already done). The little compressor is lightweight and perfect for small jobs like these. On bigger jobs I still use one of my heavy duty compressors. So, that may be the problem some of the other reviewers are having. It's just not built for heavy duty work.

The gun on the other had was a disappointment.I already had a Senco XP 25 and prefer it.Still, it's a pretty good price for both pieces, so, no real complaints here.I've just set the newer one aside, for now.

Regarding the cheap 1/4 inch hose... pleeeease.Anyone with half a brain knows it's a cheap piece of krap, but will work fine for the occasional hobbiest. If you want a good hose, buy one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Woodworker Hobby or Trim Tool
I got this package for very light duty use - woodworking shop projects and qtr-round molding on flooring. The nailer is a quality tool that sells for $120 everywhere so that makes the compressor only $75. I had a $15 coupon so the compressor was only $60 for me.
The compressor is so light that it is no problem carrying it. The tank pressure is 125 lbs and I set the tank outlet pressure to 90 lbs. It shoots about 10 brads before it cycles but you can keep shooting as it runs. I used 5/8" brads on molding on a shop project and 2" brads on floor qtr-round without a single problem. This sure saves time and doesn't mar the wood. It is pretty quiet and also looks good. Getting to small jobs and using this little tool is a pleasure. I will get an air blower tip for it; so far I'm satisfied.

3-0 out of 5 stars I used this product
I too had a problem with the 1/4 tubing that is attached to the compressor it cracked right where it bends I used to intall wainscotting and it worked fine....BUT you have to wait after 10 shots for it you build up presure. before you go at it again... I will try liquid steel to seal the crack. I think it cracked because I used it outside on a warm day and then the sun went down and got cool out since the tubing gets hot it must of cracked. overall for the price it worth it for small jobs ... Editorial Review

Long nails into hardwood? No problem. Working overhead? It's only 4.2 pounds. Hate having the exhaust in your face? Tool-free, 360-degree adjustment takes care of that. No time for jams? Clearing takes no more than a couple of seconds because of the quick-release nose. The magazine is made of nylon, but it seems as rugged to us as any metal magazine out there. That's also why this nailer is so easy on the hands. Add to that a nicely padded grip and a selective trigger and you'd think you have the perfect nailer. But get this—there's a built-in dust blower that clears light debris and dust from your workpiece. Hitachi quality leaves nothing to want.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable and Tough as Nails
I've used this gun quite a bit and it hasn't misfired yet. It's simple to use and feels solid, made to last.Plenty of power too; sinks 2 1/2" nails into pressure treated fir with no problem. In white pine I had to back the pressure off to keep it from sinking them TOO deep! The air nozzle feature should be on every finish nailer. You'd be surprised how handy it is; no need to put the gun down to clear away the chips etc... that always seem to get in the way of a good fit.The only drawback I found is that you'll have to go to a good hardware store to find an air fitting for it.Once that's done it's the perfect finish nailer.

5-0 out of 5 stars great nailer
i bought this nailer several months ago.great finish gun.the little button near the top/side of the gun is an air blower.great to have available when doing base, to blow away the crumbs from falling plaster or debris that is in the way. just push and it blows it away, nice added feature that the others don't have. have had no problems and would recommend this highly
