Excellent tool
This is a great tool.I've been a professional firefighter for 10 years in the Boston area, and this is the best investment I've made.This can be swung with both hands or just one.It is great for close quarters and ladder work.It makes for a handy second tool.

I paid more.This is well worth the money!

This is an awesome axe.Several people in my department carry this axe.Very dependable and holds an edge.

A True Firemans Tool
I am a Captain with a career fire department, and I carry the Truckman Battle Axe with me every day. With the 16-1/2 inches long handle it's only slightly larger than a framing hammer. I keep it on the belt of my Scott-Pac as a personal escape tool. I hope I never need to use it, but if I ever get trapped I know I can cut a hole through just about any wall. The axe is great. The blade is very sharp and cuts great. But the axe is too top heavey. If there was a soild handel on it, the axe would be excelent because with the hallow handle it slips out of your hand and tendsto bounce. I would suggest that you wear gloves with good grip or arubberised coated grip on the handle of the axe. ... Read more

Does its job
It splits wood like it's supposed to, although it's really meant for splitting wood that is not that large in diameter (definitely 1.5' or less in diameter). The fiberglass handle is light, ergonomic, and doesn't seem to transfer much of the shock.Wearing gloves helps too. ... Read more
