This 40-pint dehumidifier from DeLonghi dramatically reducesmoisture in the air and can be programmed to suit a variety of needs.Operating at temperatures as low as 44 degrees F, the unit is usefulall over the house, especially in cool basements, cellars, and garages.Built with its intake and outtake grilles on the sides, the machineoffers flexible positioning without inhibited airflow. Plus, you canchoose from two methods of water removal--either continuous disposalthrough a connector hose or tank collection with periodic emptying. Inaddition to collecting water out of the air, the unit uses anantibacterial FreshZone filter to trap airborne particulates. This bothimproves the quality of the dehumidified air and lengthens the life ofthe dehumidifier.

The control panel on this model is efficiently designed, marked withindicator lights, and protected by a transparent hatch. A rotating diallets you select humidity level, with options ranging from "econ" to"comfort" to "continuous" to "dry." The machine also has two fanspeeds. DeLonghi includes a tank-control safety device to preventoverflow caused by a blocked hose or full tank. I bought mine 3 years ago. Its been in use continuously (while docked) on my sailboat since it arrived. I keep it in the main salon and leave the doors to the staterooms and head open. It works great, even in winter (I try to keep the boat above freezing, but not by much), and I would replace it with the exact same model in a heartbeat.

Delonghi DDE400 Dehumidifer Review
I bought one of these last winter to dehumidify my husband's shop.It has worked exactly as promised.It runs so quietly you don't notice the noise.It has really reduced the humidity in the shop.I have not had any mechanical problems with it.I would and probably will buy more of these in the future.

Avoid It!
I bought two and both came broken. The first one had something loose in the machinery and it was leaving a huge puddle on the floor. The wheel also broke on the first day. I was stubborn enough to go for my second trusting the name/brand. Unfortunately the second one didn't even work at all! And youcan only take them to authorized dealers. I'm Happy With It
I bought this about a year ago and have been using it on my boat (here in Alaska) continuously. I have it draining into the bilge and it works well. I'm really pleased with it. I have it running in economy mode in the main salon and it keeps both the forward and rear salons dry as well. The only thing I'ld change on it would be to put a stop on one of the wheels so that I wouldn't have to worry about it sliding around when the Taku winds come rolling in.

Oh yeah, having a cleanable pre-filter (for dirty air) has come in useful more than once, as well. ... Read more

A LITTLE LOUD
A LITTLE LOUD BUT THE UNIT WORKS GREAT. MY ROOM IS DRY AND MOISTURE FREE. THE AUTO SHUT OFF WORKS GREAT. IF IT GETS FULL WITH WATER THE LIGHT STAYS ON TO REMIND YOU TO EMPTY THE RESORVOIR. THE FILTER IS EASILY WASHED WITH WATER. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH THE OPERATION. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR REAL QUIET OPERATION THIS UNIT IS NOT FOR YOU. VERY EFFIECIENT.....

I LIKE THIS DEHUMIDIFIER
I agree with another reviewer that this machine can be loud, but I still love it.It is very well made and works like a charm.I have severe allergies and do not react at ALL to this or most other Delonghi products.I become symptomatic around cheaper (more toxic, less stable) materials, and Delonghi tends to use higher quality materials (not to mention excellent workmanship which, as a picky consumer, I appreciate very much).In my opinion, this is one of the best products and companies on the market.I am not being paid to say this, I just think better companies deserve our business!

Does not operate quietly
I purchased this dehumidifier because my last one, after 12 years of use, finally bit the dust.I thought that in 12 years there would have been some improvements made in dehumidifiers.This item is advertised as "quiet operation".I have this dehumidifier plugged into a wall in my family room that is about 30 feet away from where I sit and every time it turns on I cannot hear the television.This thing is loud!If I had known how loud it operates, I wouldn't have bought it. ...
