Editorial Review

Once you take the time to do the initial adjustments with this system, getting your saw square to the mounting plate, you can literally cut sheet goods with your eyes closed. Just clamp the unit securely to the workpiece, and your saw rides as if on air, thanks to the sealed ball bearings that provide almost effortless movement. Unlike your standard (and painfully spendy) panel saw, this little rig allows you to cut sheet goods flawlessly at absolutely any angle. The other alternative--wrestling with a full sheet and a table saw--is exhausting, dangerous, and not much fun. Sure, if you have a garage or workshop the size of Kansas and a budget to match, you can buy a true panel saw. But we think you’ll be turning to this little setup more often. Applause to PSI for a brilliant, inexpensive solution. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • 108-inch rip fence allows you to use a circular saw to cut sheet goods lenghtwise more accurately
  • 64-inch fence for highly accurate crosscutting
  • Sets up quickly and easily
  • Tracking fixture attaches directly to the saw
  • Duplicates panel-saw cutting

5-0 out of 5 stars Maybe it's too easy?
I've read the other reviews and cannot understand the ones that are critical. I took about 15 to 20 minutes to set it up, clamping the rail to the plywood, checking and checking again and then made my first rip cut into a sheet of 4'X 8' 3/4" birch. The saw glided down the rail and made an effortless perfect cut. I love this thing!

4-0 out of 5 stars Aggravating to set up, but finally works well
The other reviewers who note that this tool is a pain to set up are correct. But, it does function as advertised once you go through the process.I bolted the carriage to a Skil 77 wormdrive by drilling holes, since the mounting clamps would not fit, and mounted the guide bars on fiberboard. With a 40T thin kerf trim blade on the Skil, I can get tablesaw quality cuts with the tool.I usually cut panels at the jobsite by laying them on a sheet of foam isulation board, and cutting through the panel and into the foam. That way I don't have to lift the panels, and worry about the piece I cut falling, jamming the sawblade, etc.The PPS-B is ideal for this kind of setup.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sold after the sale
I read many of the reviews and was hesitant in purchasing this unit. Then I thought how bad can it be.After receiving the unit, I don't know what some reviewers found so difficult in mounting the saw to the base.I dedicated a not so expensive Skill saw for this task.Mounting the saw was easy.I did not mount the rails to any guides but did make the suggested spacers for lining up the rails. This worked fine for me and I was impressed at how smooth the saw glided along the rail and with a good blade, it made easy, accurate cuts.I feel Igot lucky for once and found this money well spent. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Strong and straight
I needed to make 3/4 in dado cuts with my router along 8 feet of plywood. My 2 part straight edge deflected under this strain. This one part unit with the router base was a joy to work with. Each dado as straight as could be with no struggling at all. The router base unit needed some work, but the straight edge was great.

This is for the combination 8 ftr,4ftr,ft-rbase,ft-sbase.Go for it.
Just the greatest, as good if not better than revue.
Be sure to read the tips in other revues about setting up because there is no help in the paper work of any use but the adjustment for the moveable clamp. Until I applied this there was play in the guide but this corrected it.
100 % quality American made and proud to be.
Absolutely a good investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tru Grip Pro Series is a first class product
The Tru Grip Pro FTR series is a first class product. The thing that is very important is that they grip well (you can adjust it) and they are very true and accurate when using the Stop, or Router Guide, or Saw guide. No wobble, no play, just tight, smooth, snag free accuracy.
When you consider the tools they replace, they are also a bargain. With a 4 foot and an 8 foot model, you can cut 4 x 8 sheets of plywood, without having to shell out twenty times the money for a panel cutter. If I was cutting plywood sheets all day long, of course the panel cutter has some setup advantages. For example you don't have to bother to use a square when cutting with a panel cutter. But for portability, and accurate use, the Tru Grip system can't be beat.
The pro series is a lot wider than their regular guide clamps, that is to allow for the mitre T slots on both sides. That way the accessories can ride along those tracks. Their regular guide clamps are great for doing dadoes with a router for example. Use two of them, and you have an instant routing guide.
The circular saw accessory is very accurate. You just drill holes in the plate, which is phenolic plastic, and mount your saw. Then you drop your saw down through the plate, giving you an extremely tight fit, which prevents tear out, when cutting through finish work. So you wind up dedicating a circular saw to it.
The stop piece is great for all sorts of uses, like when routing blind dadoes, or for making repeated cuts at a certain depth.
Having the 4' and the 8 foot model is convenient. Using an 8' for everything is not advised. The long overhang left by an 8' on a short piece of work is not easy to deal with.
I use the 8' when trimming door edges. How else can you run an 80 inch door through a machine in order to get an adjusted edge?
The router plate is already machined out with a circle in the middle that is oversize, so as to keep the bit at a maximum clearance for plunging. Once again, you drill it yourself to accomodate your specific router.
The router , saw, and stop accessories are premade to fit into the specific configuration on the edge of the guide, as well as the T slot, creating a very snug fit, with no play, yet not binding.
The days of finding a left over edge of a plywood sheet, then figuring out how to clamp it down, in order to cut larger sheets are over. This system is lightweight, made out of thick aluminum, which makes it substantial, yet a breeze to carry around.

It may seem expensive at first, but the equipment it replaces, and the accurracy it creates in your work, make it well worth the price. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Low priced, accurate fence for all sorts of operations
I originally purchased the 4ft. Tru-Grip Pro to build a router table carcass and top.Once I mastered the efficient use of the tool, I found making deadon accurate square cuts quick and painless.I do not have the bases, but I don't really need them.I just use the edge of the tool for a fence, check square and offset for the operation and either saw off edges or route dados and rabbet cuts. It's a bit more of a pain to set up than my table saw, but the accuracy is spot on and for large pieces and panel crosscuts, this absolutely provides maximum utility for the cost.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Add On
After reading the reviews on amazon I was very confused if the sliding table attachment was the best thing since sliced bread or a hunk of junk. I must have ordered it and cancelled it three times before I finally placed my order for good.Of course I wasn't home when it came. When I got home to see the condition of the box I was a little worried. The box is very heavy and it appeared that UPS wanted to teach it a lesson for being such a pain to move.Despite the shambles of the box all the parts inside were present and accounted for and in very good condtition.

The assembley process on my unisaw was not that difficult. The only issues are the fence rail has to be cut. Thanks go outto the guy who suggested the zawsaw to cut it off.I measured it carfully and marked it with pencil. It cut off fairly easily.I had to move the brackets which hold the rip fence down about 8 inches. There is also a saw dust "slide" inside the unisaw under the blade. The screws for this are on the outside of the saw and would have had to sit under the lower rail.I simple drilled two holes about 3/4 of an inch below the existing holes.I then took a piece of wood and pushed the slide down so that it lined up with the new holes and screwed it in.It took alot of pressure to push it down but it worked fine.

The slide does take a little time to align, but wood workers should be used to adusting their machines.I have never had any tool that didn't need to be adjusted and re-adjusted over time.

I have only used it a few times so far, but I think that this will be on of the best investment I made to my shop in quite awhile. I highly recommend it.

Finally, if you use your table saw and are used to constructing things you should have no problem installing this add on.If you can'tfigure out how to put the sliding table attachment on your table saw and get it adjusted, you probably shouldn't be using a table saw in the first place!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Retro-fit but Delta could have made it easier,
I recently bought and installed the unit after reading all the reviews on this site. The message I had taken away was "good tool when set up properly but be careful."

I installed it oon my 20 year-old Craftsman 10" contractor's saw which I had previously upgraded with a 50" Vega fence. None of the holes needed for the attachment were in the right place. I had to drill and tap 3 holes in my table casting and two (not tapped) in my base. The Delta instructions are directionally interesting but practically useless. By adding a few pages of guidelines for retrofitters, they could have helped tremendously. The kinds of things I'm talking about are pointing out which dimensions and tolerances are critical (for example, the upper bar and rail). Also some hints on how to make jigs to insure accurate drilling and tapping would have been nice. I was faced with dismatling the saw and using my drill press for the cast iron holes or doing it by hand. I took the second approach and luckily got it right. Also the conformation of my saw stand is very different from their Unisaw so I had to go get extended length 3/8" studs to align it properly.
It ruined a day in the shop to get it set up and aligned. I only dropped the sliding unit on my head once! But once set up it has been sweet and stable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Installation nightmare... woodworkers doing steel work
The good news: Ordering and receiving the "Sliding Table Attachment" from amazon.com worked perfectly. The bad news:The installation is a nightmare, requiring major steel work such as drilling holes into your table saw steel base. But worse, everybody who owns a Unisaw with a Unifence Guide, such as the Biesemeyer, is expected to saw off 8" from both steel guides and in addition cut the Biesemeyer front guide bar steel box profile. If you don't like that, Delta tech support suggests to simply redrill all mounting holes and move the entire steel guide assembly 8" to the right.Never-mind, how difficult it is to match up the mounting holes with the base. Did I mention, that the existing side table has to be removed too, leaving the power switch dangling in the air.The customer service suggests to move the power switch bracket to the next screw hole, which would be in between the mount of the Biesemeyer fence, creating a gap of about 1/16", hence misaligning your guide fence.Of course, you will not find anything of this on Delta's web site. There is a small note in the instruction manual. If you think, Deta's customer service (phone support or customer service center) will help you, be prepared for a big surprise. The attitude is just as backwards as the age of the company. They really expected me to cut my table saw in half (literally speaking) and be happy with it.In summary, this attachment will only make those woodworkers happy, who also have a steel shop and don't mind doing steel design work for Delta. To be fair, the attachment is somewhat easier to install on cheaper Delta table saws. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Biesemeyer product
I purchased this product to use with the Biesemeyer fence that came with my Delta X5 Contractor's Saw (36-507X).This cut-off stop is quickly added and removed from the fence for easy setup. When attached to the fence, the stop adds exactly 1" to the fence thickness; therefore, you can still use the fence measurement scale (with the obvious 1" adjustment). This stop is much easier and more accurate than the alternative, a piece of wood and clamp.

Another great Biesemeyer product.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good fence for a good price
I've had this fence for a week now and have had time to use it a bit. These are my impressions based on what I observed during the installation and using it for the past week.
Installation - there are two brackets that hold the front fence rail to the saw. I have a Jet contractor's saw, and the brackets didn't line up with the pre-existing holes on the front of the saw. The brackets are about an inch closer together than the holes, which means one bracket slides on completely while the other is barely over the hole. Instead of boring out and tapping new holes, I went with that. Boring out and tapping would also have to be done too close to the existing hole. The back rail went on just fine, and the fence went together very easily. When I brought the fence right up to the blade to set the "0" mark on the indicator, I found that there wasn't enough play to adjust the indicator window to the "0" mark. Instead, I had to peel the measuring tape off the front rail and move it down about half an inch, after which I could zero out the fence.
Performance - overall, I'm very pleased with the performance of the fence. It slides along the rails easily and locks down securely using the main locking mechanism. The fence is rock solid with very little deflection. One thing I would like to have seen are fence sides, either laminated MDF or UHMW. They include long wood screws for anyone who would like to add an auxiliary fence side.
There are two locking mechanisms on the fence: The big main one and a smaller one for use with the micro-adjuster. The way you use the micro-adjuster is you lock the fence down with the small lever, then release the big lever. This frees you up to make micro adjustments to the fence position. When you have dialed in the correct distance, you then lock the big lever down and unlock the small lever. The micro-adjuster locking mechanism on mine slips very easily, however. When I lock the small lever down and start dialing, sometimes the fence stays put and the micro-adjuster moves. If I push the fence from side to side while the small lever is locked down, it moves with little effort. I am going to see if cleaning with mineral spirits and roughing up the locking cam with some sandpaper will fix this.
Overall, I think this fence is pretty good. It's certainly better than the stock Jet Fence that came with my saw (bigger, beefier, and more solid). I gave it a 3 only because it didn't fit my saw properly (which is a common saw) right out of the box and the micro-adjuster slippage. Otherwise, I'd recommend this fence to anyone upgrading from a stock fence.

4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful update for an old workhorse.
I recently installed the Vega PRO 40 on a 15+ year old Craftsman 10" table saw.The installation took a little over 45 minutes however the first time I tried to cut a 45 degree rip I had to modify the rear rail (with a hack saw) because it prevented the motor housing from rotating completely to the 45 position. Other thanthat I am 100% satisfied with the fence. It is solidly built and extremely accurate.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a quality item
I honestly think a board clamped to the work surface would take about the same amount of time to set up and do as good a job, if not better. The thing does not fit properly, even after following the instructions in the manual. Not too well designed, even if it is being used on a cheap bandsaw. I can "get by with it and make it work", but shouldn't have to. Too hard to stabilize and adjust.I do not recommend this product.

I knew that this was going to be a less than great product but I did not expect it to be used. They didnt even bother to clean the sawdust out of it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money
For the money, this is not a bad item. Other reviewers are correct that it doesn't come with directions, but page 17 of the PDF manual that is linked on Amazon's product page (should be above if you are reading this review)shows the 5 steps needed to square it up. Took me less than 5 minutes. Basically, clamp it down, and loosen the two screws on top until it is square (the manual says to use the miter guage slot to check for square-ness, I used my Swanson Speed Square), then tighten the two screws. You can adjust how tight it clamps to the table by rotating the flip/lock lever until it is as tight as you need. That's it!

Again, for the price I paid, not a bad addition for my 9" band saw. When I get my 14" professional band saw, I'll get a better fence. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars High Learning Curve - But Worth It
After using the Bench Dog fence for a while, I felt an urge for something with a bit more precision. Not that the Bench Dog was a bad fence, but I'm a sucker for accuracy, and the Incra Jig Ultra combined with the Wonder Fence offer solid, repeatable adjustments. After looking everything over at the store I decided to spend the admittedly steep price of admission.

I'm not sure where the other reviewer's complaint comes from.Out of the box, without the LS extender, the Wonder Fence uses edge clamps, much like the Bench Dog.And it is ever bit as rigid as that fence as well.In the solo configuration the fence offer the kind of micrometer adjustments that one is used to in metal machining hardware. The two sides of the split fence can be adjusted independently, (depth and gap) which turns the average router table into a jointing and shaping station as well. The hi-rise fence cap works perfectly for panel raising and vertical milling as well.

The real power of this fence becomes apparent when it is used with the Incra Jig Ultra with the LS-positioner.Now you can move the fence in 1/32" increments with 1000th of inch adjustments. This is a spooky level of accuracy in woodwork.

The biggest drawback is the learning curve.Once you want the Incra set up to do more than be a simple fence, you have to learn how to use it, and everywhere you turn there are things to turn.Incra may have a talent for high-end accuracy, but as manual writers they are only so-so.Expect to put in some learning and experiment time. Then expect to go crazy making exotic joints.

[Part VI of 'How to Build a Really Expensive Router Table']

1-0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, won't hold up to feed pressure.
I returned this fence. Using the words "Heavy Duty" in the description by Incra?... must be a joke. I would give it zero stars and a Mr. Yuck if that were an option. I am a box maker, using fairly small stock, even so, I found this fence to be very inadequate in it's ability to stay in place ("flat, square, and on 1 plane) when feeding stock against the cutter. This is a serious issue, considering Incra touts the extreme accuracy and incremental measuring capability of this fence to the finest degree.(All of which becomes totally useless if the thing won't stay flat or square under pressure.) You can put a 64th incremental measuring tape sticker on anything...doesn't mean it'll be accurate.
If you need very accurate surfaces, don't waste your time on this fence. If you don't need extreme accuracy, use a jointed 2 x 6 (which , by the way, I have had better results with, than the Incra.) #-(

Ps: I purchased this and returned it the same week in 2002. Perhaps it has been improved since then. Looks the same to me though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beats clamping a piece of wood on your Unifence..
Well, the piece of wood is a lot cheaper, but it is nice to know that at least with this cut-off fence the edge is straight and parallel to the blade. It is also convenient since the tape measure on the fence still works, instead of having to compensate for the thickness of the piece of wood. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Wrong Fence
It's too bad I did not read the other reviews concerning this fence before I ordered one. This fence is not for the new imported Delta 14" Bandaws. I called a Delta/Porter Cable service center in Kansas City MO, and was told that the correct fence for the imported saws is 28-856 for the 12 inch fence, and 28-858 for the 24 inch fence. I called Tool Crib, where I purchased the 14" saw and fence, and was treated nicely, and promptly by a customer service person. She advised she was sending a UPS Call Tag to have the fence picked up, and that I am to receive a full credit for the return.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work on my14" Delta Bandsaw and stated it did!
This item is advertised to fit all Delta 14" band saws and would not work on mine. Then after numerous emails trying to get Amazon to understand that this was their error and they shouldbe responsible for shipping the item back, they agreed However, they ended up charging me $9.99 to ship the item back! Don't waste your time or money!

1-0 out of 5 stars Wrong Fence
This fence is not the correct one for the new Taiwan made 14" Delta bandsaws. After contacting Delta they me that it was too short and the correct model was the 28-858 and then hung up on me.So far I can not find the right rip fence and I am fairly disappointed with Delta and Amazon. ... Read more
