3-0 out of 5 stars Equally good and Equally bad
The last company I worked for had several guys that were hard core Stiletto believers. The weight of the titanium is awesome. It allows anyone to drive nails all day long without getting a tired arm, and tennis elbow in the long run. However, the handles are usually junk. One guy went through 2 Stiletto handles in 2 weeks, then finally got a Craftsman handle. The Craftsman never broke on him. I recommend buying a different handle right off, or drilling a hole through the top of the handle and packing a rod (steel or metal) into the hole so the rod goes past the base of the Titanium head where the handles normally break. The way it appears with all the Titanium wood handle Stiletto hammers they are either a really good hammer, or they are junk and break. BTW pulling nails with Stiletto hammers voids the warranty. They recommend a nail puller to pull ALL nails. Spend the extra $130 and get the solid Titanium Stiletto. You won't regret it and it will last forever.

1-0 out of 5 stars A poor imitation
The hammer that I purchased is a casting, and not a forged hammer head that I thought I was going to receive. As a result one claw broke off on the first nail that I tried to pull. It certainly is not worth the price! Steer away from this one, if you expect to use it for more than a wall decoration. Doesn't anyone make a forged titanium hammer?

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice for worn out arms
For those unfortunate enough to have some form of repetitive stress injury (for example, tennis/framers elbow) this hammer is excellent. Due to the highly ductal quality of titanium, there's less rebound--transferring morepower to the nail--so the hammer drives like a 22 to 24 oz framer. If it'sstill too light for you, wait for the 16 oz titanium. It's less like aCalifornia framer and more a classic Vaughn style and drives like a 28 oz. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars comes out swingin'
This hammer has a nice balance and feel for driving smaller finish/box nails; a little light for nails larger than 8d.Used to think that a claw hammer is a claw hammer, but this one takes a little getting used to swinging; but then is a pleasure to use and always seems to go where you aim it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Lightweight Hammer
I recently re-ordered this hammer (my first one rode home with someone I don't know).I liked that one so much, I had to get another.I am a west coast Union carpenter, and Ti hammers are seen more and more often on job sites these days.I had to go back to an old 25 oz. hammer after my last Stilletto was stolen, and WOW, what a difference!I chose this hammer for many reasons, but here are a few you might consider: 1) it's light weight will save your body from wear and tear, 2) the smooth face, combined with the weight allow this hammer to be used for finish work, as well as framing (and it won't mash your fingers), 3) that magnetic nail holder comes in very handy and 4)I mean, come on, Titanium...it's just so cool. The only drawback to this hammer is it's tendency to ring like a tuning fork. You might find yourself reaching for earplugs if you don't already wear them.Other than that, it's simply a shame to think that you'll be using this beautiful tool in a manner that will (hopefully after many, many years) leave it worn and scarred. But when that time comes, at least you'll still be able to move your arm without pain.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best tool on my tool belt
i have used this hammer for over a year now . it is the best hammer i have ever used . after a long day of driving 16d sinkers my hands don't ack all night long . i have the poly/fiberglass handle on my big nail driver.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weightless
Found the hammer head to be way too light, causing discomfortthroughout my arm from any extended nail driving. Purchased a 21OZmilled faced framing hammer at same time and found it to be completely satisfactory. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If I had a hammer...
"If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening - all over this land!
I'd hammer out danger, I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
    Ah-aaah
    All over this land!"

As a hint to my family that I wanted a new hammer for Christmas, I repeatedly sang Trini Lopez's "If I Had A Hammer" song hundreds of times in the weeks prior to Christmas.

Great news - it worked! My family bought me this awesome Stanley Hammer. I've never been happier with a hammer! It hammers stuff real good. I've banged up my thumb a couple of times, but that's not the hammer's fault. I just probably shouldn't be hammerin stuff after I drink too much.

Anyway...thanks to Stanley for making such a great hammer, thanks to my family for buying it for me, and thanks to Trini Lopez for singing the song that made it all possible!

Gotta go now and use my hammer some more. As a great MC once said, "It's hammer time!"

5-0 out of 5 stars A hammer you can count on for a decent price
The art of making a good hammer isn't exactly new. This claw hammer isn't too different therefore from the claw hammers of our fathers or our father's fathers. This hammer does absorb the impact very well, and is very lightweight for its strength. The hammer is made by Stanley, so you know its going to be a good quality construction, but there is really nothing here that is much different from any other hammer. Its not laser guided and doesn't have GPS tracking, but it is reliable when it comes to knocking nails into things. The extra curve is especially handy for leverage when it comes to pulling nails, but when working around corners it may not have enough room to fit, so I always have this hammer and a standard curved claw hammer as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars My elbow loves it.
After overworking my right arm constructing an addition,(I'm an air cond. contractor, not a framer) for six months I could hardly grip with my right hand. The tendon damage was considerable. Every time I tried to hammer the injury would flare up. A local building supplier said try this hammer. Amazingly it works... and works damn well. No more pain, the injury has healed but using any other hammmer other than the antivibe will cause pain after an hour's work. The shock that went thru the arm to the elbo is gone. Worth twice the money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
Amazing hammer. Works like a hot darn. Easy to hold when it gets wet. Packs quite the punch but does not feel awkward. My only complaint is the checkered face on mine wore down very quickly, not a huge deal however. It sure has made the tendonitis clear up in my elbow. Keep up the good work Stanley! ... Read more

This is one helluva hammer holder. I has a large top opening that allows my hammer to enter easily. I have gone through many hammer holders in my years of construction. 2-0 out of 5 stars My Hammer
I've had this hammer for about a week. When I first got it, I loved it. One thing I like about it is the fact that it's very comfortable. It feels very light, and is extremely easy to handle. Another thing is the magnetic nail set. It's great for those hard-to-reach places, or if you need an extra hand for something else. The claw is nice and sharp, and the long handle gives you plenty of leverage.
But today, as I was pulling a 10d nail out of a 2x4, the handle snapped right at the head, which instantly had a negative impact on my feelings about this product.

    Update:
I did receive a free replacement from the manufacturer, which I've had for over a year and use on a daily basis. The hammer is still in great shape, and I would recommend it to anyone who does framing work on a regular basis.

5-0 out of 5 stars great stick for the money
I am just a weekend do-it-yourselfer, but recently decided to add on to my storage shed. I was looking for a moderatly priced framing hammer......didn't need anything too elaborate. After looking at some of the pricey Vaughans and Death Sticks, I couldn't justify paying the price for something I wouldn't get the use out of. A young kid at Home Depot saw me looking through them and suggested the Fat Max........I guess Stanley has come a long way. He told me that he used one and that it was the best stick for the money. I brought one home and started the addition onto the storage shed. What a monster this thing is. The axe shaped hickory handle makes this thing a pleasure to swing. It also sports a feature that all of the more expensive models had.......a magnetic nail starter built into the head. This is a great feature for those high starts........pop in a nail and with one swing your nail is started........only one hand. As for ripping nails out.......it never faultered, it's head is still firmly in tact. I thought the price on line seemed a bit high.........(...)The only thing that might be an issue to some, is that there are no choices in regards to head weights. Most manufacturers offer 2 or 3 different weights to choose from......Stanley, from what I can tell, only offers this in a 22 oz. Like I'm going to know the difference..........so it may take me an extra swing. Try this hammer, you can't go wrong. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 20 dollar hammer that feels like a 50 dollar one
First of all I am a Post framer for a very large company in Washington state.I used to use an estwing 22 oz. curved handle hammer, but never liked the feel and balance of it.I bought this hammer from Lowes for 19.99, and have loved it ever since. The oversized face makes it nearly impossible to miss the nail, and the shape of the handle is amazing.I can hold the handle in the middle to start a nail, then drop it down, and it just slides into my palm like it's attached to my arm.No messing around when it comes to driving nails either, I can sink a 16 penny in a couple of whacks. This hammer is amazing for the price, and it beats the hell out of my estwing.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid hammer
This hammer is not as good as the titanium stiletto but at a third of the price I had to buy it.
I preferred the stiletto because of its light weight in the tool belt and excellent balance but I simply could not afford to replace it.
However this is the best of the bunch in the number two slot. Interesting enough I bought this hammer at $19.97 instead of the price listed here at Amazon. Perhaps someone needs to take them up on their offer to beat the price by 10 percent!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite framing hammer
I have not tried the Titanium hammer yet so I can't compare but I have about 10 framing hammers, some steel, wood and fiberglass handles.Of all the hammers I have this Stanley is my favorite. It's feels real natural in your hand, especially when you grab the hammer close to the head to start a nail and after starting the nail let the hammer slide through your hand and your palm just seems to fall perfectly in place into the "sweet spot" of the handle. What I also really like is the size and shape of the face, it's a little wider than most and the sides of the face are tapered back instead of straight. This makes it really easy when toe nailing to just smack the nail with the edge of the hammer face. The price is cheaper than most of my other framing hammers as well. ...
