Granted, if you're into home repair, you've got a 25-foot steel tape in your toolbox. But how many times have you grumbled at it when it didn't stay rigid from across the room? Tapes have their purpose, but for estimated measurements of up to 50 feet, the Laser Tape is the way to go. Just point, press "read", and the distance is displayed in feet and inches or metric. It's simple to use and would be perfect for the homeowner trying to calculate how many gallons of paint to buy, how much vinyl flooring to get or even how much fertilizer to buy, provided you've got walls round your yard to bounce the laser off. handy as laser POINTER, absolutely useless as laser TAPE
...this is a good example of "you get what you pay for," I suppose.

This alleged "laser tape" actually uses a sound wave to take its measurement, the laser beam is there mainly for underhanded marketing purposes to mislead you into thinking that you're buying far more advanced technology than you're really getting.

Of course, sonar is notoriously unreliable for this sort of application, and therefore it is hardly surprising that it delivers kinda-sorta accurate rough measurements in all of maybe 3 out of 10 tries.All sorts of environmental factors can easily throw it off: the color, texture, and shape of the object you are pointing it at (flat 90 degree white walls seem to enjoy about 60% efficacy, the highest I ever got with it), exterior noise conditions, how much open space there is around you, etc.

Really the only thing this sonar tape really does well is serve as a bulky, clunky and noisy (it makes a clicking sound during operation, which I wish I could disable) laser pointer---the 9V battery does last a bit longer than the tiny little watch battery that most pen-size laser pointers use.

Thank God the home improvement warehouse I bought it at has a great return policy!

Not accurate
I am giving it two stars because it may be useful for rough estimates.However, it is a disappointment.I got it on sale (close-out, I think) and for interior walls it consistently reads about 5 inches longer than the actual dimension (properly measuring from base.I am sure I will occasionally bring it out of the toolbox for a quick rough measure, but that is about it.I'd return it if I could.

You get what you pay for
I received this as a gift and for my line of work, it works OK.
Don't expect exact accuracy, that's not what it is for. It is very good for me on estimates. Sure I get some obvious errors, but if you read the maunal, you will see that most are addressed there. Why would anyone use this to get measurements for cutting trim..??? That is what a tape is for. ... Read more

If only this had been in our toolbox a year ago when westruggled to install a suspended ceiling in the basement. This littleguy puts out an actual laser line vertically, horizontally, or at anyangle. It's wonderfully simple and dead-on accurate. Necessity for the Female toolbox.
Hanging pictures and shelves use to cause friction between my husband and me. Now I do not have to ask for help. The Laser Level is a must have for the ladies toolbox........

Piece of junk
I bought this thing from a local home improvement store thinking it would be handy to use for hanging items on the wall and providing layout lines for flooring, etc.Wrong!The retractable pins that are supposed to hold it to a wall or ceiling or whatever, retract continuously and it won't stay in place. The laser line is practically invisible so it was of no use even if I had a project where I could just set it on the floor. It does seem to be fairly impact resistant proven by the number of times the pins retracted and it fell off the wall plus throwing it across the room out of frustration didn't seem to hurt it.However, it was a piece of junk before I threw it and it's still a piece of junk.I don't even know where it is anymore and I don't care.

How did we live without this?
This tool is WONDERFUL.It's the best stud-finder we've ever used.It actually is accurate!I just used the laser level to hang borders in three rooms, and the job went a whole lot faster and smoother than I anticipated.Worth the investment!

Handy, but not super accurate
This is a really good product idea, but unfortunately mine didn't live up to expectations. My laser level is about an inch out of level over 10 feet. That's probably within building specs, but I figured a product packing a laserbeam would be a lot more accurate.

I have some walls that are 20 feet long. I'd hoped to put this level on the wall and hang a bunch of pictures along a level line, but I can see the few inches of error when I look for it, and that'd drive me nuts.

I only use it for jobs that my spirit level can't span, but that are still under about 10 feet. Anything bigger and I get the chalk line out.

Great Tool
I love this tool. We built a new house and I used it for hanging curtain rods, verticla blinds, pictures and shelves. Our wall decorations look organized and very stylish. I like the fact that you can mark on the adjacent wall.

We have these shelves for my kids room that are beautiful but are a total nightmare to hang. It took me 3 tries at our previous house to hang them because there is no room for variance. I hung them in 1 try using this tool.

I have read other reviews where people complain about the holes left when hanging the device and it's nonsense. It really is a pin sized hole.

Don't leave the bedroom without it
I have had the wave for years now, and I have finally worn it down to where I need to get a new one.This thing has been at my side and provided me with countless experiences of being able to fix something ON THE SPOT.The weight is not too heavy at all for me. The scissors work great (I have even cut stainless steel shim with them).The pliers have been used for numerous fixes and the jaws of mine have finally worn smooth.The wire cutters have worked great.The hard wire cutter has never failed me unless I am trying to cut steel cable (a difficult task for any pair of plier-like cutters), but even then I can still manage to do it.The screwdrives have been abused yet still function very well.The blades accept a good sharpening and last for a good while after sharpening.The file is bar-none the BEST file on any multi-tool I have ever seen, and is better than most dedicated files I have used.The diamond file is spectacular.The single-handed blade opening and single-handed plier opening are features I have come to depend on.This is just a great tool that allows me to GET MORE DONE!The leather sheath is also very rugged yet quickly became supple and remains a durable home for this tool.
No, it's not the perfect tool for any one specific task, but it is a very useful tool nonetheless and serves it's purpose without fail.I am amazed mine has lasted as long as it has considering how often I use it, which is pretty much every single day.If I am wearing pants or shorts with a belt, then I have my leatherman.The only nuisance is I have to remember to pack it in my luggage prior to flying!
Worth every penny, and then some.

A nice try with room for improvement
I am a hunter, knife collector, long range bicycle rider, fisherman and construction worker. I have used a leatherman wave for the past 7 months. While it is by far the best multi tool I have ever seen, it most definitly not without it's faults. The biggest general problem is the tiny standard blade. It will cut paper and a few other things, but it's not suitable for large tasks. Another problem is the "wire stripper". This lousy feature is not much better, if any than a standard utility knife at stripping wire. Stripping wire like this simply wastes time. The well made scissors could easily be replaced by real wire strippers, or you could make the tool larger and fit both which would make this a far better device for those who use tools for a living. The final problem is a lack of a small phillips screw driver. This is a a very important tool which I hope will be included on future models. I personaly think leatherman would do well to make their tools fifty percent larger so they could include bigger blades, a real wire stripper and a much smaller philips screw driver. The wave is tiny and making it a little bigger would not really sacrafice portability. Even with it's problems this tool has served me well. If you have a need for such a tool the wave is the best out there. By the way, I never did get a tool adaptor so I don't know what to tell you about those. ... Read more

I couldn't have said it better
I was going to write a review of the Bessey cabinet clamps but I read what Alan Freedman said and I couldn't have said it better.So, to use Alan Freedman's comments (which I totally agree with)....

WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THEM: These are best clamps for squaring up a cabinet side/face frame ever. They work great standing up on a workbench. I consider them an invaluable part of my woodworking shop.

THE OTHER STUFF: These are not the end all. I still use my jorgenson clamps a lot. They apply point pressure (versus even pressure across the face of the clamp) which can be useful for truing up some jobs and clamping some irregular surfaces. The Bessey clamps are pretty heavy which can be ackward when clamping with one hand (and using the other hand to hold the project together).

THE BOTTOM LINE: You can never have too many clamps. I would not have less than a pair of the Bessey clamps in my shop. Four are better.

these are great clamps
My only complaint is the price, but you get your money's worth. I plan to pick up a few more of these sometime in the future. The faces give you square pressure against the stock, which I find really important for edge gluing and cabinet building. I keep a little pressure on the heads for storage. The one time I did not I rotated the clamp head vertically and the clamp body slid down pinching my hand on the way down.

It's Alright....
I use this accessory on a daily basis.The adhesive tends to loose its holding power after a couple minutes and the level starts falling towards the floor.At least I can hear it beginning to separate and have time to run over and push it back onto the wall or take it down.I was hoping the adhesive strips would hold better, but at least they don't leave any marks on the walls.

Was it worth it?YES.
Buy it again?Yes, because I have no choice.
Satisfied?Not really, but I can't leave holes in my customers walls.

Excellent Add-On for the Laser Level!!
This is a great addition to the Laser Level by Strait-line!It just snaps easily on to the laser level, then uses sticky strips to adhere to the wall so you don't have to worry about poking holes in the wall anymore!The stickies are easily replaceable too, you can buy them in packs of 24 (and it takes me a little while to go through 24 of the buggers!).

Your wallpaper's new best friend.
If you've enjoyed the new Strait-Line laser as much as I have, you're having too much fun. But of course every time you use the laser, it embeds its tiny little pins into the wall, leaving a couple of tiny holes. If you remember what you paid for that wallpaper, you might just grimace a bit at thinking you've perforated it.
Along comes this little swivel attachment and all of a sudden you can mount your laser level any which way you like with some easily replaceable stick-on strips that won't mar any finish and won't punch tiny holes in your walls. You could say it's a nice touch. ... Read more

The Bomb
If you can still get this deal. Go for it. I use these levels for everything. I've dropped them and they're fine. If lent them to people I shouldn't have, and they are fine. Just make sure you get an extra set of endcaps. They fall out and get lost every fre years.

Everything I expected and more!
Rock solid construction certified accurate to within .029 degrees. I just got my package delivered to the worksite where I am installing a raised deck for a new bathroom. Within 20 minutes the deck was leveled. Let me tell you, not having to flip a cheap level over and then over again end to end three times to verify accuracy was a huge time saver. Add to that the confidence of knowing without a doubt that what you see is really what you got. I shaved at least 45 minutes to an hour off my morning. Every vial is clearly readable. The box beam construction is machined to an exacting true parallel. I am so happy I forked over the few extra dollars it took to get this set. I plan to replace my torpedo and 24" levels with Stabila's next.

The Best just got Better
If you have Stabila Levels you know they are the best.This new set from Stabila is even better.This is the new frame design and it has a frame about 1/4" wider than the regular frame. The hand holes are really nice, comfortable in your hand.The end caps are nicer, removable and are rubber.It also has a metal hang hole so you can hang this nice level on a nail rather than lean it against the wall for the painter to kick over.I have this set, and I didn't think Stabila could make a better level than the ones I already have, but this new series is better than the best! ... Ride the Pony
You can buy [less expensive] versions of this clamp...

The plastic wears off and then the metal edges show through.Then the plastic comes off and gets lost.The springs are barely passable when new.Not the Pony.

The plastic does wear off, but not until after a long time of hard use.It use them at the miter saw table all the time.Makes it easier to cope molding when it is clamped to something solid.

Necessary Part of Woodworking
I use these clamps all the time.They are the best solution for the following:

1. Holding down boards when plunging a plate joiner (biscuit joiner).

2. Clamping two flat boards together to drill through both ofthem.

3. Holding down a straightedge while marking a long line.

Thegreat thing about these clamps is that they go on and come off in a second,so you can hold wood down, do what you have to do, then turn the wood,re-clamp, turn again, etc.Also, unlike the "vise-style" clamps,they do not damage wood.

WHY ME?
I have always used PONY spring clamps because their quality is superior to cheaper models. They have a high quality spring, fine finish and better tip pads that stay on unlike quick-grips yellow tips which come off too easily.HOWEVER loyal PONY users should check out the PONY 3-way spring clamp whichworks as a spring clamp or as an incredibly simple edge-clamp.The 3-wayedging spring also made by PONY, is a superior tool and more tool for yourmoney. ... Move your orange clamps over and make room for Irwin. There are so many improvements on this fixture that we're just plain impressed. At the top of the list is the longer handle design that actually prevents the skinned knuckles woodworkers have come to expect. A close second is that these clamps don't need threaded pipes, an idea we applaud. The feet are bigger, and there are no downsides to that-—you get more clearance and more stability. Great product - ignore the bad reviews
The few negative reviews here about the clutches being installed backwards almost kept me from buying these, but I decided to give them a try anyway since intuitively it seemed that the clutches and spring must be user serviceable.They arrived a day ago and I just got some black iron pipe for them to check fit and operation, and I must say I am very impressed with these clamps.The fit is tight and precise, the screw turns easily without binding, and the sliding jaw moves easily along the pipe.Cosmetically they are much nicer than any other I have seen in stores.The clutches on mine were all installed properly -- however, had they been installed in any other manner I could have simply compressed the spring by hand, removed the clutch plates and reinstalled them in the correct orientation!No problems there (I tried it and verified that if installed upside-down they will cause the problem mentioned in previous reviews, but as I said this is easily fixed).I bought these because of the extended height of the feet, which do allow knuckle clearance when operating the hand screw.The feet seem to be wider also, making these more stable.One thing I did notice is that the entire screw length can not be used due to the handle butting up against the end of the clamp when tightened all the way (maybe an inch of unused threads) but this is trivial -- there is plenty of thread length to do the job.I bought four sets of these for some furniture building projects I am working on, and will buy more in the future!The only things this clamp does not have vs. the Rockler ones is the lip on the threaded foot for hanging on a rack, and pre-drilled holes for mounting extention blocks.I plan to take a 2x4 and cut some notches in it so I can simply slide the pipe into the notch with the threaded jaw resting on the top for easy hanging, and if I ever need to mount anything to the jaws I can drill the holes easily enough.I do like the fact that the pipe does not have to be threaded, although the pipe I bought has threads cut and it works great.If you're looking for a high-quality pipe clamp buy these!Feel free to email questions to me (just remove the "nospam" from the address).

Quality Control
I was really happy to see the new improved clamp design available from Irwin at a reasonable price. When I put the first one I had ordered together I could not figure where I had gone wrong, as the clamp did not sit flat on the bench top. I checked the product reviews online to find that the improper installation of the clutch plates is a pervasive issue. Very disappointing. Until I see that Irwin has addressed the issue I will look for alternative versions at Rockler.com as another user suggested, and continue using the Pony Clamps that are proven performers. ... I bought a set of 4 ((2) 48" and (2) 24") Jorgensen K-body clamps to do cabinet doors.I compared side by side with the Bessey k-bodies and these came out ahead far enough to make my choice for me.(1) larger face area to spread the load, (2) beefier I-beam between the clamp faces to withstand more torque and pressure, (3) a removable "foot" at the end that keeps the clamp level and allows the adjustable face to slide without lifting the clamped object AND lets you take the adjustable face off and reverse it for a spreader function, (4)The price was comparable, and (5) they matched the rest of my Jorgensen F-body clamps (of which I have a bunch) so my collection stays color coordinated :-)The two draw backs I would mention are (1) they are heavy and bulky so will not always be the first you reach for on simple clamping tasks (just the ones you want really square and solid) and (2) if you back the hand screw all the way out, then slam the jaw home, it will jam shut and you may have to get a screw driver and pry the locking pawl back a bit to get the jaw to release.Not much more than an annoyance but usually happens when you are trying to clamp one handed and are holding your work with the other.This usually results in some severe mumbling while you lay everything down, unstick the clamp, then try to set it all up again (still one handed).Over all they are more than worth it and I intend to purchase more as my budget allows!

Metal parts are cast metal, not very strong.
I bought two of the 48" model clamps and had one snap in a way to make the clamp useless.The part that snapped was inside the clamp side, it was made of a cast metal of some sort.It actually broke into two, plus two small fragments of metal that I found sitting on the ground under it. The clamp was holding Ok, but then I heard a pop, and found that the clamp had given up. I will be curious about the warranty on this clamp. I noticed that the adds here in Tool Crib don't mention a warranty, so I will have to get in touch with the manufacture to see if there is one.

Excellent clamping- "feet" are the best feature
I have a few Bessey K-body clamps, which until I got 8 of these Jorgensens, were the first thing I would grab.The Cabinet Masters have the advantage of that nifty "foot" at the bar end, which match the opposite fixed clamp end in depth.This makes the Cabinet Masters superior, in my opinion.I just lay the Clamp Masters on the floor, place my (usually large and cumbersome) pieces on top of the bars, slip in some scraps/cork/cauls between the pieces and the clamping surfaces, then slide the clamp towards the edge.The feet allow this to slide smoothly.With the Besseys, I have to physically lift the bar ends (and the entire weight of the assembly) in order to move the clamp mechanism.Not fun.Yes, Bessey sells a $25 "foot," which is probalby very useful.But, this is not as useful as a built-in clamp that you won't "misplace" and "do without."

The only annoyance was one clamp that became "jammed" when the slider slid all the way down, touching the fixed clamp surface.Because the knob was turned "fully loose," I could not loosen it to retract the clamp.The locking cam was basically stuck shut.I had to flip the clamp over and drop the bar end onto a 2x4 several times before it unclenched.I guess the warning is don't turn the clamping screws fully CCW or else this might happen the clamp slides shut unexpectedly.The clamp works fine still, so no harm done.

I'm buying more of these, as my last project required the use of every single 48" clamp I had!You can never have too many clamps! ... Read more

Works great but a lot of money for plastic
Unlike many of the reviewers who bash this tool, I have actually used it and have made "perfect miters" with it.I am a professional woodworker and I do use it.It is handy for marking a reveal around door jambs and for making a perfect 45 degree reference line in the corners.The only problem I have with it is I was expecting it to be be metal and it was plastic.I have seen them in metal in stores and other reviewers referred to them as metal.The plastic works fine.It is just a lot of money for plastic.

Very handy tool for hanging trim
Not being a professional trim carpenter, this tool really helped me do a good job trimming doors and windows. I read the negative reviews calling the tool useless--and it may very well be to an old pro. If you make your living trimming out houses, you're probably beyond this. I agree with the complaint about the lack of instructions. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it. Just examine the pictures and practice with some scrap, and you'll soon be rolling right along.

Agree with pointless
This is a gadget.How much it will help you probably depends on your skill level. I do not know of a single pro-trimmer that uses this thing. Most pro-trimmers do not even use a tape measure for installing casings anyway, so this "toy" only adds a step. I highly doubt it will give you "perfect miters every time" so do not expect it will.Perfect miters are elusive to the best of us at times and it takes experience, skill, an accurate saw and a good blade, and a few installation tricks to to get the "perfect miter" that won't open up. Given that this tool ranks #4 in sales must mean something, but I would not expect it to deliver on all it claims it can do for your casing work. Great Ladder!!!!!
This ladder is excellant, it is very sturdy and I have never had any problems with it locking at all. I have been on it with 2 people at the same time, over 500 lbs and it is rock solid. Yes it is a little heavy, but if you want quality construction that is the price you have to pay, but it is well worth it. It is the best and most versatile ladder I have ever owned, it works well indoors,outdoors,soft ground,soild ground and on level or unlevel ground, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I had to. Definitely a good ladder!!!

Great Ladder - Don't listen to complaints
All I can say is ... "What a great functional ladder that is more sturdy than any ladder I've ever used!" To get a ladder of this quality for it's current price was a steal. Someone made about the latch giving way, I think that's just made up ... or ... it was not safely locked, cause once it's locked, nothing will make it come loose unless you mean for it to come loose. If your searching for a good dependable solidly built ladder, then look no further because this is it.

Bosch has really broken ahead of the pack with their new miter finder/digital protractor/angle finder. The handiest thing, in our opinion, you can do with this tool is calculate miter and bevel angles for crown molding cuts easily and efficiently--using the molding spring angle and the corner angle as your input. It's also great for remodelers who often need to cut trim at odd angles to achieve a good fit. My angle finder is precise!
I hadn't been able to perfectly square-up my 12" radial arm saw until I bought the Bosch DWM40L Miter Finder Digital Protractor/Angle Finder.Using a large square, or my other protractor tools, the blade appeared to be at a perfect right angle to the fence, but cuts were ever so slighly off-square.Placing one edge of this tool on the 12" blade and the other on the left side of saw fence, it read 89.7 degrees.Placing it on the blade and the right side of the fence, it read 90.3 degrees -- the perfect complement of the first reading.After a good bit of adjusting on the saw, I was finally able to get a 90.0 reading on both sides.Now, the radial arm saw cuts accurate right angles.I used this tool to "perfectly" set right angles on several tools, and have used it sucessfully in construction projects to precisely match angles.

I agree with another reviewer that said the tool should have a locking mechinism to hold the desired angle.However, since the angle is clearly displayed on the LED readout, it's not difficult to adjust the tool to whatever angle you want if it changes.

This tool a huge technological leap forward when compared to mechanical protractors/angle finders; because the electronic LED display shows the angle to a tenth of a degree.If you don't need that level of precision, consider a less expansive angle finder, such as the excellent Starrett 505A-12 ProSite Protractor.

Efficient and NEARLY (not exactly) precise, but...
This product does NOT, I repeat, does not give you an accurate reading--at least not for 90-degrees, anyway. I own the most squared stainless steel square ever built. It is the same square I use to establish set angles on my table saws and other tools. When lining the DWM against it, the DWN falls short. Nothing monumental--we're talking fractions of a degree, nonetheless... take it for what it's worth.
The product appears to be durable and the programmable angle calculations are anon and accurate. But... is this product actually worth the price? Absolutely not. And here's why.

The manufacturer lists accessories for this angle finder. One of the most important ones is the extension. That extension should NOT be an accessory; it should be included in the price because 3 out of 5 angles I measure do not have long enough bases to rest the tool on. Hence, the extension. Are you reading this, Bosch? Stop being so cheap!
Further, the case is extra as well. I mean, come on! Nearly every tool that is sold on the market comes with its own case. What makes this product any different? Oh, I know... capitalism. Yes, it's certainly well constructed and definitely not meant to be banged around. So why not include the carrying case with it? Make the extension and the carrying case part of the package, then, YES... the price would be worth it.
One more con. I cannot believe the engineers of the DWM opted not to place an angle lock on this device. I really can't. If you're using this product to measure, let's say, several measurements containing the same angle, God forbid you accidentally bang it, or bang the tool into the wood, etc. You'll instantly lose the angle. It's not as feeble as you may assume upon reading this; nonetheless, it will indeed move with the slightest nudge.

Worth learning how to use it
I bought this over a year ago to help with a house I'm building. I started doing the kitchen and couldn't remember the directions so I did part of the kitchen, a inside and outside corner without it. I was all trial and error and I wasted alot of wood.

I decided to sit down and learn how to use this tool and it was worth it.I finished the rest of a large kitchen with a few crazy angles in one day and it came out great.

So good I bought two!
I bought my first RT-7610-5 about 2 years ago.It turned out to be a great unit.Unfortunately, it was stolen from me off of a jobsite.I decided to buy a new one and I am even happier with my new unit.It seems to level a little faster than my previous one and I think the dot is a bit sharper.Great tool - I highly recommend it.

Great Laser
Like some of the other reviewers, I bought this unit and it worked great out of the box.However, after a few months on non-use, it did not want to level.I tried batteries from another device that was working ( so I assumed the batteries were good), but still no luck.The factory said to make sure the batteries were fresh, so I bought new alkaline batteries and now the unit is working fine.This is a great tool, and I seem to find more uses for it all the time.My advice to anyone having trouble is - MAKE SURE your batteries are fresh.

pros:

cons:

1)the file in original and x model seems to made of casehardened steel,so the plating will chipped off(i suggest the RS model the best)

Great work tool
This calculator is the best for the price. It does it all with regard to finance and mortgage calculations. The directions are straight forward and simple. They explain almost all variations of problems and how to solve them. In no time you understand this unit well. I've worked with others and this one was recommended to me. I'm glad I listened.

Great for Mortgage Qualifying
For merely calculating the monthly payment for a given loan amount, interest rate, and term, there are cheaper calculators that will do as well, although with one or two added keystrokes. But if you are a loan originator who needs to qualify borrowers and know what the front and back end ratios are, this calculator is simpler to use than the HP models I've seen. You can also store tax and insurance rates for quick p.i.t.i. calculations. This is a great little calculator at a reasonable price. It's the best kept secret in the mortgage industry.

nice clamps
I read the reviews on these clamps &there were several comments about the clamps breaking so I emailed Jorgensen & asked them is this true & what have you done to correct the situation. Their response was the early versions had cast aluminum heads to save weight & that they had switched to steel because the aluminum wasn't holding up. I've owned several of these for about a year now, none of which are made with aluminum, and haven't had a single problem. The issue with the clamps sticking together when closed can be resolved by backing the handle all the way out, pulling the handle straight up away from the bar & then pulling back. As is true with all clamps they aren't perfect for every situation. But these are the first clamps I reach for because they're so versatile & so easy to use. I own a lot of clamps & I'm a Jorgensen man. I have a few Besseys & they get used last. I don't think they're bad clamps I just prefer Jorgies. I do however think Jorgensen should have done a much better R & D job on the Cabinet Masters & quite frankly they flat out failed in this area. I expect better then that from an American institution. There was a time when Made in America was a good thing & Made in Japan, China or Taiwan wasn't. I hope Jorgensen will continue to be Made in America & more importantly I hope they've learned from their mistakes. I find these reviews very helpful & would like to thank the people who write them & I encourage anyone with an opinion on a product to put it in writing. Also Lee Valley has the best prices on Cabinet Masters.

Great Clamps
I bought these two years ago for making some doors. I had always used pipe clamps for glue my doors before this, and had some problems with them not laying flat.

These clamps solved that problem. They are now the clamps I use first. I like that they are reversable, and have used them to support and adjust upper cabinets while they are being installed.

On some of the other sizes of this clamp there are some negative reviews about the quality, and also about receiving clamps stuck together with no way to open the jaws. I haven't had any problems with the quality, but 2 of the clamps did come stuck together. I was able to unlock them by taking a screw driver and levering the locking mechanism, no problem since.

I have never tried a bessey clamp, so I can't compare them, but these are great clamps. Hope to get some more in the future.

Meet the new boss....
I own two of the Bessey K-body clamps at this same size (well, close - the 31" clamps) and would have rated them five stars.But I decided to give these clamps a try, and now the Besseys, though still excellent clamps, drop to four stars and the Jorgensens get a solid five.They have all the benefits of the K-body clamps, with some clever improvements.There is a very nicely designed clip at the end of the bar which can be removed to allow the movable jaw to be reversed to turn the clamp into a spreader.The clip also does double duty - it is the same height as the two jaws, so it stabilizes the end of the bar when the two jaws are close together (i. e., when you are clamping something small).With the Besseys, if you set the clamp on the floor and move the jaws close together, the unsupported end causes the clamp to tilt - the clip on the Jorgensens eliminates this minor annoyance.The jaw faces are considerably larger - this is a small advantage in length, but the extra width is really useful.You can lay the clamps on their side and still have useful clamping depth - not a lot, granted, but useful if you only need to clamp 3/4" or so, in which case you can put pressure on a much longer area.This would help in edge joining boards, for example.And the larger handle is more comfortable.
Jorgensen has the K-bodies beat in pretty much every feature.The Besseys are still most excellent clamps - I'm certainly not getting rid of mine, but my future purchases will be the Jorgensens.By the way, these comments are specifically about the 24" and 30" clamps that I actually own and have used, but I don't see why they wouldn't also be true of the other lengths. ...
