Cold toes and hot spots disappear with this powerful but quietspace heater that evenly blankets an entire room in heat. Instead ofclicking on and off as some heaters do, the Vornado electronicallyeases the power up and down to maintain a constant room temperature.Easy-to-use digital controls are handily displayed on the top, andconsist of a power button; a mode button for choosing low (750 watts)or high (1,500 watts) heat output, or fan only; and straightforward"Warmer" and "Cooler" buttons to inch your desired temperature up ordown. The sleek black polymer case measures 12 by 12 by 9 inches, andbecause it contains no glowing metal elements, does not get hot to thetouch. Air intake vents on the sides allow the heater to be placeddirectly against a wall. Plug in, warm up, and rest easy with aone-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I used this for an entire year to heat a 20x10 master bathroom on a north-facing corner in a house in the snow belt in New York State. Tile floor, double-width full-size windows, no direct sunlight. Unit heated room to desired temp in SECONDS and kept it there ALL WINTER, EFFORTLESSLY and QUIETLY, even at 2 am, during a blizzard with 50 mph gusts. Even when heating it is cool to touch, minimizing fire hazard (if any!) compared with any other stand-alone room heater, and making it safer around children and pets.

I came online to order another for another room and saw the bad review from California. The only explanation for the unit failing to heat a room from 60 degrees to 72 degrees is that the unit was faulty or damaged, was not plugged in, or the outlet was faulty or switched off. This is a terrific product, as room heaters go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quiet & Reliable
Use this fan / heater 3 to 5 hours daily for an approx 475 sq foot area. It works awesome quiet and hassle free.

5-0 out of 5 stars I bought two more after liking the first so well
I've read the various reviews.I can't comment on the experience of other people, but here's mine.I have a bathroom that can be quite chilly, and I thought I'd see if a Vornado would help.It did.In fact, I liked it so well, that I bought one for my elderly parents, who tend to be cold almost all the time. They use it regularly, both in their TV room, and in the bathroom. It's quite light and easy to transport, so they do.THEN I decided to take my bathroom Vornado to work, since we had some "thermostat wars" going on and my office would suddenly turn frigid because someone else was too warm.It worked again. So I bought a third for the bathroom. Nary a problem. It's quiet. It heats smoothly and circulates the heat as claimed. As a result the room gets gently warmer, not the three feet of space in front of the heater. With three units purchased at different times, I would think I would have come across one of the defective ones that others have complained about, but I have not had that happen to me. I am very pleased. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Little Heater is a Big help!
This heater has a small footprint and doesn't take up much space. It is working great in our garage as a supplement to our electric heater. It is nice and toasty up close to it, and it warms our 2 car garage up slowly to a decent level to do woodworking. It is perfect because my second electric heater was tripping the circuit breaker whenever I used power tools.

The only thing to remember is to keep it away from the sawdust!I like it so much, we're buying another one, so we can ditch the other electric heater.(I'm tired of tripping on cords!)

2-0 out of 5 stars Reply about Lack of filter ruined my heater.
When I pulled my heater out to use it the pilot wouldn't light. I diagnosed my problem to be the regulator, not the control valve. The guy's statement about using a trap (filter) for 20lb tanks is incorrect. If what he said was true why isn't there a trap (filter) on every gas grill, outdoor heater, and any other appliance that normally uses a propane tank other than the 1lb tank? The reason for the trap (filter) is when the gas supply is delivered by iron pipe. Initially the pipe has oil inside it due to the manufacturing process and to prevent it from rusting before it is put into use. The viscosity of the oil is heavy so the trap (filter) collects this oil and later any scale that may occur from the inside surface of the pipe. Without the trap (filter) the oil or particles of scale could end up in the control valve preventing it from operating properly. If you use copper lines or a rubber gas line there isn't any need for a trap(filter).

4-0 out of 5 stars About filters....
The mention of filters that I saw was a recommedation for a TRAP, not a filter, as it was called. It is common in professionally installed propane appliances to have a trap. I haven't ever seen a trap used on a portable appliance. The trap is essentially a pipe "T" with a short section of pipe going down, terminated by a cap. The other side of the "T" goes up to the appliance. The trap allows chunks of debris fall into it; it is in no way a filter. ... Read more

With a larger than average surface area and powerful heat transfer system, Delonghi’s Magnum radiator quickly and quietly fills an entire room with heat. Its automatic timer control has 96 different settings, and includes a room monitoring thermostat, so you can set the unit to your desired temperature and know that you’ll stay warm. Horizontal thermal slots keep the heat circulating. High efficiency diathermic oil is permanently sealed and never needs refilling. The Magnum’s clean, Euro design is compact and safe, with no sharp edges, and a double insulated exterior. It’s movable, too: four corner wheels, and a handle that stays cool while the unit is operating, let you easily position the Magnum anywhere you need the heat. Additional safety features include thermal cut off to shut off the radiator once the desired temperature is reached, and anti-frost protection to keep the unit heated to at least 35 degrees F. The unit comes with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. --Chris deMaagd ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely a "hot" item
Overall, after a winter of hard use, I am extremely pleased with this item. The integral timer is the killer feature on this heater, warms a cold bedroom adequately and doesn't burn the excessive electric since we don't have to remember to turn it on or off each night and day.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!We bought 2!
We have in the basement a craft room where I do my arts and crafts - its about 16x20 and a workshop where my husband does his crafts. We brought one of these for each room and they're perfect! They completely take the chill off in about 15-20 minutes and keep the rooms warm. They have a timer you can set so you don't leave them on and forget about them. They're self contained so there's no fire hazard that I can see.I absolutely love them!Very happy customer, toasty warm in the craft room.

5-0 out of 5 stars good warmth if used right
I'm hesitant to give this 5 stars because it's the first oil-filled radiator I've ever owned. Found it at another online vendor.
I live in a small mobile home of only 700 sq. ft. floor area in total (yep, very small place!) and this radiator is intended to either supplement my vent-free propane heater or be used in the work shed.
As I write this, the outside temperature is approaching the freezing point, expected to be mid-twenties by morning. So tonight is 'test the new heater night' with no other heating to help it along.
Using a digital multitester with temperature probe attached I measured the Magnum 15T (my guess is the 15E is same basically, only electronic timing) from various places around and on it, while set to full power and thermostat dial on 5 (goes from antifreeze to 6). Top was 150 F (66 C), underneath was 120 F (45 C). Approximately 1 ft (or 30 cm) above the top surface it was 130 F (55 C), and down inside between the fins touching the surface again it was 200 F (94 C).
Indoor tabletop thermometer just 3 feet away from the radiator reads about 69 F and my regular central heating digital thermostat (again, switched off for tonight) is showing 67 F, which is in the back bedroom. Radiator itself is placed in the living room, where I'm using a reversed ceiling fan that I added an adjustable rotary control wall switch making it slower than originally was able to do.
The radiator seems to stay on for 3 1/2 minutes and then off 1 1/4 minutes, or powered 65% of the time (if my math is right). At this rate the temperature drop of the radiator amounts to very little, and of course the room temperature doesn't change.
I should note that having read the review about the loud noises problem I am hearing the thermostat quite plainly click or pop each time it cycles on/off. Not sure how common this is, since it's my first ever but it is certainly neither loud nor quiet. Maybe not the same thing I'm hearing. Although it does deter from the pleasant, otherwise silent, heating it provides; my vent-free LP heater is not silent either and it's only flames and expanding/contracting metal! But it'll also pop on and off, too.
Wasn't possible to send in this review right away so I've had some more time using the radiator since then. I moved it into the bedroom for the night and left the door open, no other heating sources used, and it got pretty cold at 6 a.m. so I turned on the central heating. Was 62 F everywhere except the bedroom (didn't measure but guessing close to 66 F in there. It couldn't keep up with the 26 F outside, but that was to be expected. Anyway, it'll do well for what I had in mind.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for occasional heat
Good basic spaceheater, with temperature controls and a timer.
I don't use either of the features, but the heat works well, and the lights don't dim when i turn on the heater.
All I expect from a spaceheater is for it to warm up my chilly basement, and it DOES remove the chill from my smallish basement.
No quality issues, or reliability issues for 6 months now.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great heater, except for one major defect -- the noise!!!
I like this heater a lot except for one aspect that drives me nuts -- the noise!!!! It clangs and thumps at random intervals, so is not good for the bedroom if you are trying to sleep. If you wack it the noise stops but then may return at 4am. Since it's too late to get my money back, I'm going to relegate this one to the livingroom, and find another (quieter) one for the bedroom.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice product, very pleased.
With temps. getting down to 0 here in Ohio this year, we needed something extra for my sons room as his is the coldest in the house.
The little radiator does very well for a mid-sized room, it is completely silent in operation which is nice. Looks are good.

I would agree with the other review in that the simple numbering of *1-6 is weird, and also the way you set the auto-temp is also abit cumbersome.

All in all exactly what we needed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DeLonghi DFH469M SafeHeat Fan Heater
This is without a doubt the best fan heater I have ever used!I live in the mountains of Colorado and we had an incredibly brutal winter but this fan kept my bathroom (the only room I bother using a heater in) so nice and warm. After 5 minutes I could turn it off and the room would still be comfortably warm. And it oscillates!Great heater.I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good buy.
Pros: Good price, fast heating with excellent termostat, rotates, very quiet, timer, VERY safe.
Cons: display is not backlit and is hard to read. This is troublesome enough that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

1-0 out of 5 stars Concerned Consumer
I bought this heater last year to use in my living room, the term "safe heat" is an oxymoron. It started having problems turning on within a month of purchase and then burnt a hole in the rug - luckily I smelled it burning immediately. There was a large burn mark on the bottom of the heater and a burn on the rug. I suggest picking something that is really safe. ... Read more

A cold room warms up quickly with this ceramic heater. With its roundedback and fine-screen front panels, the heater looks more like a classy stereospeaker than a heating device. Cleverly designed, the two stacked cubes turnindependently to project heat into different parts of the room. And, using thehandy remote control, temperature settings can be adjusted without getting outof a chair or bed. Measuring 12-1/2 by 7 by 6 inches, the compact heater takesup very little floor space and can even sit on a table. The SmartTouch one- button control toggles through five temperature settings (60, 65, 70, 75, and 80degrees F) with a choice of either low or high output for each. While thisheater projects powerfully, it operates 40 percent more quietly than otherceramic heaters. For safety reasons the heater will shut off if it starts tooverheat. 3-0 out of 5 stars Remote didn't work leaving the heater beeping all the time
Just barely picked up the unit and the remote didn't work. The remote wouldn't allow me to not only switch the unit to auto, it didn't switch from celsius to fahrenheit either. You might not think that is so bad except the unit beeps once every 2 seconds until the remote is synced up with it. So $50 later I was left with a beeping heater that really doesn't put out that much heat anyway.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Heating Unit, But Does Have Drawbacks
This small unit provides excellent heating power in a small, attractively designed package. It does, however, have its drawbacks. One is the annoying design for the control buttons. One button on the unit controls both the heat temperature and the high/low fan (yes, only one button), which means you sometimes have to scroll through a number of temperature & high/low settings before you get to the one you want. The controls on the remote use exactly the same format.Even more annoying are the popping sounds the heater can make when turned on, but in idle mode.I'm guessing this is due to the ceramic heating unit being encased in a plastic shell. As the ceramics heat and cool in idle mode, the unit emits brief, sharp, random popping noises as the plastic elements expand and contract.Over time, I was able to block out these sounds, but think it is something that Bionaire could easily have identified and fixed during the testing phase for this product. In the end, these annoyances may be minor if what you are looking for is a small, attractively designed unit that delivers great heating power.

5-0 out of 5 stars I was freezing in the North East
I would highly recommend this heater. Prior to this purchase, I owned a Pelonis oil-filled heater that looks like a radiator - it broke down in less than a year and was far to costly to have repaired - what a piece of junk. Anyway, the Bionaire heat is magnificent. Its not very noisy at all, heats the room very quickly, and the twisting position system is quite effective. For instance, it took about 20 min to heat a room 10'x12' several degrees, whereas my old oil-filled heater took 30 min just to get warm and another hour to raise the temperature just 1-2 degrees (using the same amount of power). I am very pleased at my purchase. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an excellent heater. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Heater stopped working 3 weeks after purchase.
I ordered this heater from Amazon to have a little additional warmth in our home office during the chilly winter months. The heat output was far less than expected, and did not seem able to significantly warm the not terribly large (12x10) space.I was also a little disturbed when the unit was accidentally tipped one night and did NOT turn itself off.Fortunately I was in the room when this happened and no harm was done. The real problem though is the heater simply stopped producing heat after 3 weeks of very light use in one room. The fan would blow, but the coils would not heat, turning the device into a fan, rather than a heater.I'm definitely steering clear of Holmes heaters now while searching for my replacement heater. Not at all recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor heating quality
I purchased two of these heaters awhile back.I found them to be noisy and not really all that effective at heating the childrens bedrooms.I would not buy them again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This Heater!
I bought this heater in Oct and used it very little until it quit working in Dec. I tried contacting the company by Planetfeedback.com and through their website to resolve this issue, but apparently they don't see the need to respond to consumer complaints.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keeps me warm during cold Canadian winter. Made in Italy.
I have nothing but good things to say about this heater.

It keeps my studio apartment warm even when it is -20C outside and the main heating system is shut down. It manages to circulate heat without getting too hot to the touch.

There are three heating settings which control the amount of heat produced (and electricity consumed), as well as a temperature control knob.

This appliance is made in Italy. I must say the construction quality is excellent! Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Did a LOT of research and this was WORTH it.
My husband is extremely cautious when it comes to these sorts of things, but I have a new basement office that needed a little extra heat for the New England winter, so we had to find something. I checked out soooo many types and brands and decided to give this baseboard type a try. It has been GREAT. It warms gently and quietly, does not get terribly hot to the touch and is a nice low profile for under my window. It is truly like adding a bit of baseboard heat where you want it. My husband is happy becuase it is quite stable and since it has a low, long profile there is not the issue of tipping over or being so tall that things will brush up against it. I'm glad I did my homework since this worked out quite well.

4-0 out of 5 stars great heater
I like this heater. We've used two of them and they got us through two cold winters in New England.

My only gripe is with the short power cord - as noted by other reviewers. ... Read more

Here's another "wish we'd thought of this" item. It's ingenious in its simplicity, and it works like a dream. Most of us have a 20-gallon propane tank for backyard barbecuing, right? Well, that little tank becomes the power behind this clever heater. Connecting is simple, and startup is effortless, and the adjustable heat can do everything from taking the chill off a late evening on the deck to toasty-warming an ice-fishing shack in International Falls, Minn. Because the heat throw is adjustable, we can imagine using it for tailgating, camping, working on cars, picnics, and on and on. Use is worry-free, thanks to the safety shutoff. You can't go wrong with this. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for camping and unheated workshops
This little heater is great for winter camping or just keeping the workshop warm. We also used it during an ice storm when the power went out. Low-priced and easy to find fuel makes this well worth a look.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hey.... What am I missing Here
I purchased this heater after reading the glowing reviews.I am not pleased with it at all.I live in the southwest so we don't have very cold winters where I am.I have a two car enclosed garage attached to the house.I set up the heater and put it on high and checked the temperature and it was 40 degrees.I came back in one hour and the temperature was about 41 degrees. This has happened three to four times with almost no increase in temperature.... and no my thermometer is working. The unit does work and it feels like it is putting out heat within a few feet but does nothing overall.Would like to give a good review, but can't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well made, durable, reliable.Like a Zippo!
I got a Mr. Heater Single unit about 8 years ago as a backup source of heat after hurricane Hugo knocked out our power for three weeks. It is still working fine and has come in real handy during infrequent ice storms and winter power failures.

My dad liked my single a lot so he bought a Mr. Heater Double to heat a big 3 car garage sized shop.He liked it but now thinks that a single would have worked fine as the double gets that big area heated in no time and keeps it really toasty.

My single unit works far better than gas logs to heat up a room.It does make a hissing sound that is not too loud but barely audible.A single will knock the chill off a large room in no time.A tank of propane will last about 30 to 36 continuous hours if you keep it set on low.I think this is a great alternative to other auxilary heat sources like Kerosuns or a fireplace. With an asthmatic child in our family, a kerosene heater is out of the question for us.This burns clean, creates no odor, smoke or soot. There's no maintenance, no wicks or anything like that. You can store it indefinitely untouched and then pull it out and fire it up with no preparation.I will buy another one if mine ever wears out.

I have recommended Mr. Heater to lots of my friends and family and have no reservation about recommending one to you.If you can't decide whether you need a single, double or triple I suggest trying the single first. Then if you aren't happy step up to the double or triple. It is really amazing how much heat a Mr. Heater Single generates!

It is rare to find a really good product that is durable and an excellent value.Mr. Heater is one of those rare finds. They are the Zippo lighter of auxillary space heaters in my opinion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Warmth
First to address some of the other reviews.

Yes the dial is hard to read, but I just point the dial at one of the letters on the word TEMPERATURE written accross the bottom. If you read the instructions, it says "put it on high until it warms the room, then turn the dial down until you hear the thermostat click." (I'm paraphrasing) You don't need to read any settings for that. Anyway, if you think of the dial as a clock, it's easy to remember your setting.

Second, the warning label that came on mine says "Initial startup operation may result in minimal smell and smoke. This is normal. It is due to the protective substance on the heating elements which protects it from salt effects during shipping from the factory." The radiator is sealed, it shouldn't smell at all because the oil is completely encased. I had one of these (different brand) growing up, and it never smelled. This is the second day I've had this, and after the initial use, it doesn't smell.

Also, this item is listed a few times on Amazon at different prices... Search for the model number to find the cheapest one.

Okay, on to the review. During April/May and September/October, when it's 50-60 degrees outside every day, the heat doesn't come on in my apartment building, and the temperature in my apartment drops to the 70's. All I need is something to heat up my apartment just a few degrees. I didn't want a spot heater, or a heater that needs to be monitored. I wanted something that I could leave on while I was away so, or in another room without any risk of a cat knocking it over and somehow starting a fire.

It takes a little while to warm up the room, but once it does, it keeps the room warm. Walking in to a room heated with this radiator, it didn't feel like a heated room with patches of warm and cold, it just felt warm all over. It has three energy settings (700 watts, 800 watts, 1500 watts) so once the room warms up, you can put it on a lower setting to save energy, and it keeps the room warm.

The box says it's good for a room up to 12 feet by 14 feet, and that's about the size of my bed room. It kept my bed room warm all night with the thermostat set about halfway, and on the low setting.

If I want the room to warm up faster, I put a fan pointed at it at about 45 degrees. I figure the airflow helps warm up the air rather than just warm the heater. You're supposed to stick it under the draftiest window so it warms the cool air on the way in, and the airflow helps circulate the air. If you have a ceiliing fan, you can put it on reverse to get the same effect.

I'm going to order a second one for my living room. I highly recommend it, especially at the price (about half the listed MSRP). You can get a cheap ceramic heater, or a nice, silent oil filled heater.

3-0 out of 5 stars Controls hard to read
Maybe it's the bifocals, but I find the controls hard to read on this model. They are not back lit, and the window is nearly flat on the machine. The only way I can really see the control window is to lean the machine back -- hard to do if it's warmed up, and inconvenient even if it's cold.

I love the way it heats, but wish it were easier to see the control window.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good performance along with low consumption
Assembly of the whole thing was very easy and I could get it started in a few minutes. The radiator is pretty small and light with wheels under it and a handle grip on side so it is very portable and you can move it along with you to the room you want to stay mostly (your living room during day and bedroom during night). I normally use the low power to conserve electricity. It takes about 40 minute for the room to warm up and after that the temperature is normally constant and pleasant. The heater turns off and on automatically as needed. I can even warm up large rooms (like my living room) with it. Best part is that with all these I have never seen a jump in my electricity bill to shock me. So I think the label "energy-saving" fits the gadget well. In general I think this is a good choice for home for its functionality and low consumption. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

This easy-to-operate, one-touch heater from Holmes is a smooth operator that kicks out a lot of heat in a hurry. The unit features two power settings--1000 and 1500 watts--and five temperature settings ranging from 60 to 80 degrees F. A single button controls the light-up electronic display, cycling quickly through the settings to the one desired. You can choose to simply run the heater on low or high or combine a preferred power setting with a target temperature. The grille opening is 6-1/2 inches in diameter, so the blowing hot air is felt quickly, and the unit can be set to oscillate in a 90-degree arc for speedy heat distribution. Holmes’ construction is virtually silent on the lowest settings and emits a low whir on the higher ones. Equipped with a carrying handle and a safety shut-off device to protect against overheating, the unit measures 12 by 8-1/2 by 7-1/2 inches. It carries a three-year warranty. --Emily Bedard ... I owned this heater for a year and used it regularly. It worked very well until recently.Maybe that's its normal lifespan, but I'm not a fan of planned obsolescence. Now it just blows lukewarm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good one
I got this one for free when a friend moved out of town. It has been with me for over a year. I have used it on a daily basis, for a prolonged period, and I havent had any problems yet. I was looking for a second space heater for work, and after reviewing other products, I decided to go with this one, because its simple, I have already seen it and I know how it works. ... Heat-efficient and designed for safety, this Black & Decker Heat Wave heater quickly takes the chill off basements, workshops, outbuildings, and mudrooms. A sturdy but lightweight little unit, the heater has two power settings--750 and 1500 watts--as well as a fan-only setting that blows cool air. A smooth-turning dial lets you adjust heat output or set the unit to Frost Watch so it kicks on automatically if temperatures drop below 40 degrees F. The Heat Wave features cool-touch housing and a large fold-down carrying handle. Two front-mounted roll-over bars keep the grille from touching the floor if the unit tips over. Other safety features include a tip-over switch, power cord protection, motion auto-off, a thermal fuse, an anti-electric shock device, and a PTC controller with manual reset in case of overheating. Power and caution lights let you monitor the heater at a glance. Intended for use on a floor, shelf, or tabletop, the heater is not suitable for use in damp or wet rooms. 1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely bad.
Unless you sit right next to it, you do not feel any heat whatsoever. Returned it immediately.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not up to the task
I purchased this unit as a supplemental heat source for a small bedroom. It was unable to warm the room and ran constantly because the heater was never able to reach the temperature necessary for the thermostat to shut it off. It only works if you sit close to it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
I saw this space heater and thought it would be perfect. The problem I have with it is that the heat only comes out of a 6 inch area at the top of the heater, but it has a grill that would make you believe that the heat would come out of the whole front of the unit. It does get very warm and has great safety features, but it doesn'tgive off enough heat to warm people sitting 2 feet from the unit. ... Read more

We did not set up our stoves or cut wood because of the rain.We fired up the Mr Heater and in no time the tent was warm.It rained off and on for the next 7 days and we only used the Mr Heater for our heat for the tent.I purchased my Mr Heater from Amazon.com used (refurbished) and it is excellent.I am going to buy three more used when they come on to amazon.com as I have two other big tents in my hunting camp and a shower tent and they will all have a Mr. Heater in them for my hunters comfort.
