Great Ladder!!!!!
This ladder is excellant, it is very sturdy and I have never had any problems with it locking at all. I have been on it with 2 people at the same time, over 500 lbs and it is rock solid. Yes it is a little heavy, but if you want quality construction that is the price you have to pay, but it is well worth it. It is the best and most versatile ladder I have ever owned, it works well indoors,outdoors,soft ground,soild ground and on level or unlevel ground, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if I had to. Definitely a good ladder!!!

Great Ladder - Don't listen to complaints
All I can say is ... "What a great functional ladder that is more sturdy than any ladder I've ever used!" To get a ladder of this quality for it's current price was a steal. Someone made about the latch giving way, I think that's just made up ... or ... it was not safely locked, cause once it's locked, nothing will make it come loose unless you mean for it to come loose. If your searching for a good dependable solidly built ladder, then look no further because this is it.

Poor Engineering
I bought this ladder about 8 to 10 years ago to use in my business.Thank goodness I haven't needed it that often as after only a few uses, the plastic sleeves that align the sections started unseating causing the ladder not to be able to fully "nest".You can take off the feet at the bottom and pull the sleeves out until you get to the one that has unseated and gotten misaligned, reseat it, which is not always easy, replace all the others above, making sure that each one of them is properly seated, and it will then become useable again for a few more times, if you're lucky.

The idea here is wonderful and when it works, it is a godsend.When it doesn't, and it didn't with increasing frequency, it is quite the opposite.I did buy this ladder quite some time ago and I would hope that this engineering flaw has been corrected.

The design was great; but the manufacturing was lousy. We bought one <4 months ago and have used it no more than 10 times in light duty conditions; one of the latches is already not locking, it appears that the black plastic "gasket" has slipped for about 1/8-inch, it can not be coaxed back in place.If you buy this product, make sure you register it with the manufacturer, you may need to make use of the 1-yr warranty.

Very handy ladder
We use this for satellite dish installation, and we are very pleased with its quality and durability. First we used the 10.5" version.However, we find the 12.5" version more useful.We highly recommend it to all of our dish installers. ladder is unstable
Due to the cheapnest or stupidity of thisladder company,the ladder has a plastic flimsy flexible head that causes one of the legs to be shorter then the others resulting in a dangerous,wobbly ladder.
Its a wonderful light ladder except for this enginnering design.
You have to stretch the ladder out by holding the top plastic head and twist it to lengthen the short leg to make it longer,then its safe.
I took it right back to the store for a refund!
Also,I had a green head rated at 225 lbs,the picture shows a red head which is rated at 250 lbs.theres some kind of mixup with the color head and weight of the ladder

Excellent construction.
Some weeks ago I got the 6' version of this Werner stepladder.
I have used it several time (indoor and outdoor).
The weight is amazing. The stability for this weight is excellent. With my own weight (215lb) I feel myself as on the Golden Gate Bridge.

good ladder
I have a good deal of experience working from ladders,I have been using this for a couple months now. Overall it is a good ladder and seemsstable. The rungs are not as comfortable on the feet asstandard ladders, andnotevenclose in comfortto a standard step ladder. But they are fine for people not using the ladder day in and day out.You do pay a price for the versatility of these ladders.

Excellent Product
After reading the various other reviews I first contacted the Werner company and was informed that they no longer have a 16 ft 300 lb rated ladder. One of my neighbors has an articulated ladder from another company and noted that on one occasion he almost suffered an injury due to the locks not being fully engaged. The ClimbTek ladder lock system is better designed. An excellent choice given the nominal cost and at the time I ordered, free shipping.

great buy for the price and quality
I found out about this climbtek ladder while searching for articulating ladder when I was always finding werner brand. I weight 160 pounds and 5'9" tall and can carry the ladder in folded position just by one hand. Its easy to manage and work with. you can pull the lever by one hand and 'click' works fine. The square steps provides secure standing.The only problem is does not lock in folded/storage position but that's ok.and yes this is the 300# while the werner is only 250#

Useful for homeowner, but follow OSHA rules
As a homeowner I own several of these pump jacks, along with the guard rails, several braces (to be used every ten vertical feet, per OSHA), the spiked foot pole anchors, roof anchors, etc. I made the poles of douglas fir (not pine stud grade) and glue laminated them with polyurethane construction adhesive before power nailing them countersinking them every few inches.

I also bought planks of scaffolding grade (per OSHA - these are about $39 for a thirteen footer, bought locally, not through Amazon) and spaced the poles about eleven feet apart, giving me about a foot of overhang on each side (OSHA: 6 inches minimum per side).These planks are **not** supposed to be the nominal 2X12's, by the way. If you have the cash or have a longterm job to do, or have an understanding significant other who is safety conscious (use the guilt trip card), invest in an aluminum plank, as it's adjustable in its over length (width?).

I screwed the QualCraft braces and anchors into the poles after assuring the verticals and braces were all plumb and level.I personally feel that paying attention to these details when building the scaffold makes a difference in the overall dynamics of the assembly. But then again, I also feel you should not store those spiked foot pole anchors upside-down on the seat of your pick-up when not in use. All kidding aside, you really don't want this baby collapsing under you.

Perhaps a few reasons why other reviewers are having trouble cranking the pumps down: (1) clean staight douglas fir wood must be used (you gotta pick through the pile), and, (2) I found that when I leave a heavy plank on the outermost area of the work bench section of the guardrail (another QualCraft add on) while trying to lower the pump, it makes for added upper counter weight. This apparently doesn't allow the crank mechanism to bite into the wood, and thus lower the scaffold correctly. Removing the work plank before lowering the jack (careful, now) allows the pump to crank easier, IMHO. Incidently, the 2200Q differs from the home improvement store (HD) versions in that the Q has some stainless steel parts (the crank, etc.; check the photo).

Incidently, as a paralegal, I agree with another reviewer, Mr. Larsen, that Amazon's removing of the direct link to OSHA is somewhat reckless, as it may leave them open to litigation should one of their customers take a header after purchasing their equipment online from them. Has common sense also been outsourcedto Bangladesh?

Do yourself and your dependents a favor, and do a web search for that OSHA gov site, then download and study their manual before buying and assembling and playing with your shiny new pump jack and scaffold. Be a nerd - like me - and follow OSHA's directions to the letter. They also have alot of photos of do's and don't's in a nifty downloadable powerpoint presentaion which makes it easier to understand their drift. For some odd unexplained reason, OSHA is a government agency that actually seems to know what they're talking about.

I'd also suggest tying yourself in, andAmazon sells the QualCraft roof and roof peak anchors along with a body harness for this very purpose. $pending a couple'a buck$ now may save you a few medical co-pays later, get it, Spider-Man??

I gave the 2200Q four stars intead of five because of the crappy slap happy paint job Qual-Craft puts on these devices, whereas they begin to rust within days of being up. I wind up buying several cans of red oxide flat rust primer spray paint to repaint them as they rust (mask off the stickers - they're all that is supplied for instructions). Also, the cheapo cotter pins that are supplied on the assembly pin thingies are garbage - go to HD and get some stainless hitch pins to replace them ASAP. They won't snap, probably are alot safer, and they're alot easier to remove upon disaasembly.

Pump Jacks
Go to the OSHA web site and see their briefing on what to do and not to do.Amazon edited out the URL.

Pump jacks use 2 2x4 nailed together with the seam perpendicular to the house when upright.2x4 joints should have a reinforcing plate.Base should be fixed (see pole anchors).

Guardrails on all sides.

Walk boards should overlap 6 inches on either end.Walk boards should be off the wall no more than 14 inches.Anything over 10 feet 'requires' a fall arrest system.

The reality is that pump jack poles have very poor lateral strength.I picked mine up off the ground and it snapped in two.If I ever was crazy enough to do pump jacks again, I'd try a wood-plywood-wood sandwich to stiffen them up.

I also tried microlam poles which were dramatically stronger, but they were too hard for the jack to grip.Might be possible to face the microlam pole with wood. You'd have to experiment.

I moved on to scaffolding.Good luck.:)

Very Stable & Strong Step Ladder
With me on one side (6/4 250 lbs.) and my son on the other side (6/8 260 lbs.), the T7406 is as stable as can be.Since it easily holds the two of us, perhaps the rating should say "375 lb. per side".It doesn't rock, creak, or feel not-up-to, the task.All double-sided step-ladders will cost more and be heavier, than their single-sided counterparts.However, the flexibility of being able to use either side, or to safely support two people, is the major advantage of this ladder.Also, having a fiberglass frame, it won't transmit electricity.It's high-quality and designed to last a very long time under heavy use.It's comfortable to stand upon, as the treads are quite deep and heavily grooved to prevent slipping.This is one terrific step-ladder.

WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO OWN ONE!?!?!
I have owned and worked on just about every ladder made, over many years, and I have to say, this has got to be one of the safest, most stable ladders on the market. It's a tad bit heavy, but well worth the extra lugging.

It does take a little to get used to, like I find myself debating as to which side to climb down when standing straddled over the top, and it is wider when folded up, using up more room in the construction trailer, but I plan to buy more over the years. I bought a 6 footer and plan to buy another along with two 8 footers. Very stable and works great to span scaffolding planks to. I highly recommend one, especially to any contractor.

I recently purchased the eight foot double sided step laddder and would seriously recommend it to any one looking for a heavy duty ladder! I am a residental contracter and use it every day. Love at first rung
I'd previously purchased one of the Werner convertible ladders through my local home improvement megastore, but found that ladder bulky and heavy and hard to use, and took it back within the week.I'd read about Little Giants here on Amazon, but the price was daunting.

Two years later, after the acquisition of a new house with a 17' cathedral ceiling in the living room, I finally broke down and bought this ladder.It's like night and day from that Werner ladder.The operation is simple as could be - slap a big button on each hinge and the ladder folds, unfolds, or moves to lock closed.Pull one big friendly hook out on each side of one end, and extend, then put the hook into the hole at the end of a new rung.I got the ladder grip things that Amazon recommends with the ladder, and they help it feel a bit more secure in extension mode, but it's pretty darn good all on its own.The ladder is a little heavy (as a woman) at just under 40 pounds, but not oppressively so, and it's easy to carry due to good design.The included work platform took me a while to figure out (photos here on Amazon helped), but it's very sturdy and easy to use.

Already I've used the ladder in all sorts of configurations, and it's wonderful.I'm just sorry I didn't make the room in the budget to buy this two years ago!

5 Stars All Around
I own a window cleaning company and this is my 2nd Model 22. There is considerable structural difference in the Type 1A/1. The Type 1 is still a very good ladder for all household work. Understand all ladders have a characteristic flex and feel. Use them correctly. My crews felt very comfortable working with the Type1. I shipped the saver method and had it here in 3 days. Fast shipping, great product...
First, we ordered this and it arrived the next day.I did upgrade from super saver shippping due to the negative feedback I saw regarding the time to receive the product (I upgraded to the next level for $10, not Next Day Air.)We needed this ladder for home improvement work that we started this weekend, and could not afford a delay.

Second, this ladder comes with a work platform, which was a nice surprise.I thought that one of the reasons that the ladder was less expensive than the model on the infomercial was due to not having the platform.This is not the case.

Good work out.
Very stable ladder.I'm 280lbs.Climbed this ladder 30ft and it felt like I was walking up stairs.It did't flex or budge at all.There was some one at the bottom supporting it.But be prepared for some lifting.The shipper stated 92lbs.It felt like 150lbs.The ladder works great you just need 2 strong people to get it up.

update of the stilts
I find the metric nuts and bolts are all standard. and the strap clamp has been improved, so that the strap can work better. I find the wingnut is produced by forging so that it will not loose. the spring is tested by 50 thousand times press.
I just think it is a good choice.

Not very happy
I find the stilt's structure comparable with what is sold at a higher price, but the accessory parts like the spring tensioner, nuts & bolts, and straps are inferior.The weld on the wingnuts snapped off the first time I tightened them; you don't end up saving any money by the time you pay for all these extra replacment parts and any expedited shipping.Better to go pay more locally!

Not user friendly at all. Bad design, poor instructions.
Be ready with a set of thin walled metric and standard sockets and wrenches. The instructions on these stilts leave you completely in the dark on assembly. There are no clear pictures of how to properly assemble the product. The user is left guessing if the stilts are properly assembled. The manual is also very poor in instructions for first time users. The most surprising part is the hardware is both metric and standard on the same product. I don't understand why any manufacturer would mix both metric and standard nuts and bolts on one product. I mean, pick one! You must also have a thin walled socket set to assemble them. The straps are a pain to adjust and don't do a good job of securing you in place. Not recommended. ... Read more

Good scaffold up to 3 feet
This is a good medium-duty portable scaffold.It comes pre-assembled, with you only needing to set the platforms in place, and tighten the locking knobs.It appears well constructed, and the platforms themselves are extremely strong.However, the scaffold suffers a bit from a slight lack of lateral stability.There are no braces in the front (it is open), and no diagonal braces in the back.This means the welds provide the lateral stability, which is adequate at all heights except for the very top.This may not be an issue for lighter people than myself (I weigh 290).The scaffold is rated to 400 lbs, so even my weight should not be an issue.The castors are large, lock easily, and roll easily.Overall, this is a good scaffold, and I would buy it again.With a little ingenuity, you could probably fashion up some type of diagonal brace for the back, which would make it very stable when the platforms are on the top rungs.

Nice, but there is one thing you should know
I bought this scaffold largely based on the reviews and it does fold well & have nice features. One point I would differ on with the other reviews, I would not call this scaffolding light weight! Check out the shipping weight on this before you buy.

The fact is the folding frame is light but the planks are more weight then I wanted to add to the many tools I already carry around. I decided to keep it because I'm sure I'll find occasions to use it but I also had to consider the 95lb shipping cost to return it.

Don't Think Twice
Great tool, I bought it specifically for hanging drywall ceilings solo. It sets up in no time, is light and well made. It is small enough to get into small rooms. I would recommend this staging to anyone.

The best tool in my arsenal
Being a general contractor, I use my tools and equipment everyday. this has got to be the best scaffold I've owned. I have 2 Perry scaffolds, and they hardly ever come out unless I need to stack a couple for high work.

This thing is great.. It's small enough to get in any office or room without taking apart, or scratching up a new $500 Mahogany door. The planks are adjustable to different heights, and when you done and want to load all your tools up and roll them into a service elevator or whatever its GREAT !! Fits into the tightest places

The scaffold ladders are at just the right height to lay a piece of lumber or drywall rip and cut on top of it.

I am a contractor in New Orleans. I do alot of trim work and a little painting. I have used home made scaffolding and ladders to work over head for last 4 years. Six months ago I purchased the CB-4U and it has changed my life. It is easy to use with just one person and sturdy enough to use with three people. I'm a lumber jack, and I'm OK...
Working solo I used one 2601Q to raise a 26ft long by 9 foot tall 2X6 wall with little problem. Jack tends to bind if the 2x4 is not smooth, and then the rachet requires persuasion using hammer taps.

The wall jack design is o.k. but I don't think it has the weight capacity it says it does. I tried to jack up a wall and the jack just stripped the wood 2x4. I used a clear doug-fir like it recomended.

Outstanding ladder to have available
I have this 2-story model and the 3-story model.I have already installed the mounting plate (optional).I had two different types of escape ladders and returned them both when I got this one.They cost more and were no where near the ease or quality.Don't listen to the first reviewer. This person must be refering to a different product. Key note:You don't have to install the mount.I am going to purchase another one of these for another room!

Not a Portable Fire Escape Ladder
Anyone who thinks this is a portable ladder is wrong. It requires installation. Once you open it and try to replace it in the box see how excited you are about this product. If you want to feel a sense of safety try another type of ladder. A less expensive and light ladder is only a value if you can use it quickly in an emergency.

scaffolking
Very nice product to work with.Very sturdy and you can set it to exactly the height you want it to.My only problem is that it takes two people to set it up, or to adjust the height.

Baker type scaffolding is very conveinient
Carry in as small as a car or mini van because very compact when flat, one person set up in 3 minutes. Rolls through man doors when set up. It's just all around conveinient to use for relatively low appplications, but can stack up to 3 high when out riggers are used(maximum 18' tall).
