    Editorial Review

Tipke's Fold-It cart carries up to 350 pounds of wood, soil, leaves, debris, and anything else you need to haul, and when you're done, it folds up tight to fit wherever you need to store it. Because it balances the weight of your load over the wheels, it's easy for anyone to tote and maneuver--even when fully stacked. Its sturdy aluminum construction is rust- and corrosion-resistant and cleans up quickly with a spray of the hose. The durable 20-inch pneumatic tires add stability and help it negotiate even the toughest terrain. A removable front panel allows for larger loads and easier dumping of soil or leaves. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Kinda, Sorta, Okay General Utility Cart
Hard to be passionate one way or the other about this thing.

For an item that runs more than 150 samoleans, in the long run, it appears to pull up short. But in a pinch, when it's 99 in the shade, and the wife is nagging about multi-hour sofa surfing, and the Philles are down three to two in the bottom of the ninth with Jim Thome on deck, and you've got an SUV full of funkulating dog food, 1% milk, and steaks sitting outside your detached garage, this little cart is a godsend.

Forget that it's somewhat flimsy, and that my kid's tricycle has better wheels, and that it's made of a grade of aluminum more likely found in a Shasta can meant for overseas distribution, it sometimes sets a tone like that of "the little engine that could".

I've had it for a little over a year now and find that it's good at...
    1) Porting groceries
    2) Carrying annuals from the back of a car to the garden
    3) Carting cases of beer from a garage fridge to an indoor fridge
    4) Going over paved areas

    It's not so good at...
    1) Hauling dirt or bricks or stone, especially across unimproved surfaces (wheels are just to thin, and it can get seriously bogged down in wet grass or dirt)
    2) Pushing anything (in the "push-configuration", it is simply too unstable)
    3) Collapsing into a store-able format (breaking it down is a real hassle)-- kinda funny given that's half the Tipke's sales pitch

If Tipke spent another couple of hours on the design, and could figure a way to drive-out 20or 30 dollars in cost, I'd give it a solid five stars.Until then, I'd recommend looking for other options.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Thing Going BUT----
This will be our third Foldit. (Amazon's got by far the best price at this moment--) It's a workhorse and still the best thing going that I know of BUT be aware:

    1. The tires are flimsy. Get good tubes (if the tires come without them) and get a plastic strip thorn-proofer from a bike shop. It will help. Might as well get a can of flat tire spray, too, if you're going to pull it over anything rough or thorny(like berry prunings).

    2. The design has a serious weak point: the rolled sides of the cart (where the handles slide in) will split at the handle-locking rivets if you habitually carry much weight (say 50 lb or so) over rough ground. This is very hard to fix and the split widens until there's a big tear and the handles fall out --permanently. That's what finally did in carts one and two. This time I'm going to try to reinforce the area around the rivets immediately, before they have a chance to start a split. Fold-it seems to outlast expensive wood carts by years despite this flaw.

    3. Plan to pull the cart. Pushing as you would a wheelbarrow is hopeless. (A Fold-it is not necessarily a wheelbarrow substitute.) It's handier and better balanced by far than any deep plastic or wood cart I've tried, but it's not good at moving manure or heavy loads into the garden --the tires are narrow and sink into worked soil, and it's not made for turning in place or flipping upside down as you would a wheelbarrow. You can push it down a row empty and pull it out with a light load of weeds or produce, though.

    4. You get to balance the load yourself. This is good. Some carts get heavier and pull harder as you load them. Balance the load in a Fold-it so there's weight behind the wheels and you can pull it with one finger, on hard ground.

    5. The bed is a convenient height, great for taking to the orchard to bring back with heavy baskets of fruit, to the clothesline with heavy baskets of clothes, from car to kitchen door with mega-loads of groceries. Easy to load because the bed is flat and rectangular, and you don't have to lift heavy dog food bags (for instance) over the sides. You can slide them out the back with the gate off.

    6. If you use the Fold-it for hauling hay, compost or weeds, expect to spend some time cleaning the fold lines if you ever need to fold it. Plan ahead if you're taking it to a horse show!

3-0 out of 5 stars it works well WHEN it works, but ...
    1.
The plus side is that this thing FOLDS, which saves space during
storage, and which permits it to be carried in a bigger vehicle,
much as a boat supposedly can be carried by a ship.
While the fold feature IS a plus, it also invites p-r-o-b-l-e-m-s
(because moving parts are prone to breakdown and mismatch).
    2.
Should the ability of this thing to "go away" (by folding when it
is not needed) not be essential, this reviewer would recommend a
look at the B00011SPU0 (highlight/copy/paste this into "Search").
Although the B00011SPU0 cart does-NOT fold, it has three features
    - it has a nice blue color (hey, ya gotta live with it, no?)
    - it ships postpaid: i.e., free shipping, though from third party
    - it has puncture-proof solid rubber tires, yielding rougher ride
    3.
Should you intend to store or use this thing near the seashore, I
suggest that you weigh in the salt air as a factor in the useful
lifespan of your cart. Although the aluminum supposedly* resists
corrosion, there is the (remote?) possibility that the salt air
of an ocean-front location would ROT the aluminum. ROT, not rust.
    *"marine grade aluminum"
By way of comparison, the B00011SPU0 has a polyethylene tub; this
plastic is heavy-duty (and non-biodegradable!). The zinc plating
on the B00011SPU0's steel frame (galvanized to resist rust) isn't
permanent, yet your back will probably go out before the cart has
gone to the Road Warrior graveyard.
    4.
I omitted one star because aluminum requires obscene amounts of
electricity (uranium or fossil fuel) to manufacture.
The other star is gone because I'd rather hand it to B00011SPU0.
    5.
In case you have the determination or patience to forgo WHEELS, I
suggest that you make use of your hip joints to schlep your cargo
-in a SINGLE-wheeled wheelbarrow (more balance, less "footprint")
-in a shoulder-held coolie carrier (twin sides require dexterity)
-in a basket or padded tub atop your head (calls for sobriety)...
    6.
Should you intend to use this thing anywhere near motor vehicles,
such as in a driveway or in a campground, please take the time to
affix generous amounts of conspicuous RETROREFLECTIVE tape to all
outer borders of the container. Although MUD and sludge would not
permit the beam of headlights to bounce off the carefully applied
RETROREFLECTIVE tape strips (back to the eyes of the driver), you
still stand a b-e-t-t-e-r chance of saving your Fold-It cart from
being trashed by two tons of steel than by leaving it defenseless
withOUT the 3M tape (preferably canary yellow or zebra-striped).
Apply the tapes BEFORE you first dog the cart, so that the bond
of the adhesive is stronger than when compromised by water/grit.
    7.
In order to make your neighbor's cart more attractive to thieves,
mark YOUR cart by either drilling your initials, social, or home
address into a flat panel of the cart. Alternatively, borrow the
"engraving tool" (loaner unit) from your friendly peace officer.
While you're at deterring theft of your cart, take time to also
inscribe a traceable ID onto a hidden part of your nonexpendable
BICYCLES (such as on the underside of the crankshaft): PREVENTION

2-0 out of 5 stars Almost but not quite....
I bought this tool for it's seemingly small size, it would pocket easily.

The issue is that this tool is too short to be an effective lever. Notice in the photo, the radius opposite the lifting end. It's too sharp to be an effective lifting agent. When it does, it usually rips the edge out of the drywall, because the weight of the drywall is sitting on a very small lip.Not that broken drywall can't be fixed...but what a time sink. The rasp is as reported...in effective.A hand held surform (Stanley 21-399 Surform Pocket Plane) outperforms...hands down in every instance.

On the flip side, the tool has a small lifting ledge, that worksas a scraper or small prybar on solid objects that are not prone to breakage. The mass of the Pocket Kicker works well if you don't want to mar the surface it's surface when hitting with a hammer.

This tool is not well designed when lifting a 4x8(+) sheet of drywall.

3-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the homeowner for patching drywall.
I purchased this pocket kicker for a small, upstairs, rough framed storage room I was finishing as a weekend project.I figured,"hey, kill two birds with one stone." As it turns out, this tool is not suited for the job of drywalling even a small room.As a previous reviewer stated, the rasp edge does not take material off aggressively. To fit pieces snugly, drywallers often cut some sheets for such a tight fit that an edge rasp is needed to get a good fit.The pocket kicker is not suited to this task. You will tire your arms out in no time if you attempt such.As a kicker, this tool is horrible, it is to narrow to be effective.Sheetrock tears on the bottom (not a huge deal, but annoying) and it is difficult to keep the kicker in place while fastening the sheets. Not a bad tool to have in the home tool kit for repairing and patching, but not suited to hanging an entire room.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good tool, but not worth it.
I bought this tool becuase I wanted a good drywall tool.It is preety effective at prying up the drywall, but it was a little difficult to put it into place. The rasp was also some what effective for the rought stuff when you snap it, but if you make a piece just a little to long and need to shave a bit off it,just doesn't cut it.I would recomend that you go and buy a real drywall kicker and a real rasp.It will save time and make your life a little easier. But, dont get me wrong. This tool is light and very portable, but in the end it is a rather expensive waste of time. ... Forget the 1500 lbs they say it will carry. The one and only welded stud on the entire wagon snapped off in the first couple of days and the heaviest thing that had been in it was our 42lb grandson. The stud held and controlled the steering mechanism;a very poor design/flaw that ruins the entire wagon. After 2 trys with Griz's cust.svc. and 20 days of waiting for parts that were wrong(I even had 2fax them the parts list so they could see what I was talking about....hello!)The entire front undercarriage is welded together by the maker, but Griz sent parts that were wrong(they insisted that the part was what we needed.AND we would have had2somehow weld it ourselves. They have our $$ and we have scrap metal.Oh,it's a pretty blue! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good tool
I've used this for putting in cabinets and it almost makes a one man job.I still need an assist lifting large cabinets onto the jacks.I have used these for quite a few other things as well--adding an extension to a table saw, assembling a lathe, etc.I would not use it for installing drywall. It's just tooawkward. I would give it 4 stars if it weren't so spendy. It's just pipe, threaded rod and some plastic parts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Precise with easy set up.
I used the T-Jak recently on a remodeling project. It is a very good, durable tool to have on location.Whenever ceiling joists were being adjusted or headers and beams were being replaced, supporting the item using the T-Jak was easier and more professional than by bracing using 2x4's.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very awkward for ceilings, great for cabinets
Purchased this to hang drywall on ceilings as advertised. The cleats are rudimentary and the 400lb capacity Jak is way overkill for a sheet of drywall. The real problem is lifting one edge of drywall over your head to a height of 8' (bending, cracking, difficult to position in tight spots), inserting the edge under the cleats, reaching for the T-Jak and adjusting the sliding nut to a height that will support the other edge of drywall. The instructions are completely inadequate - no tips or hints on making this awkward process safer or easier. Three sheets came crashing down around me before I could get them positioned.
The T-Jak is just great for hanging cabinets. The adjusting nut means you can dial in cabinet height exactly. If you hang cabinets often, this is the tool.
I'm a home repair professional. If I had to do it again, I would probably purchase the 3rd Hand as a more versatile addition to my business. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Can you say "DAD", for dumb ass design?
I ordered these gems to carry 85 twelve foot sheets about 150 ft.After 5 trips the sleeves started slipping and we had to toss them and carry by hand. The shaft is smooth, so without any adhesive, or scoring of the shaft the sucker just starts slipping, and you can't use them.If you buy them, you better plan on fixing them before you really need them.Man, I was PISSED!

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy as a hammer, can't move without it!
I found the use of the JHandle very useful. I.m a single mother of three so when it came to moving I enlisted my mothers help and I have quite of few larger items that would normally be difficult for two women to move however with this tool I found it quite easy to get a grip or a handle on those items and move them with ease. I think it's a great tool and would recommendeveryone to have if they don't already.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost make carrying sheet goods fun!
I was at first reluctant to purchase this item, but they seemed to be priced right and I had a gift certificate. I a remodeler and always cringe at the thought of carry around alot of drywall, plywood and other sheeting goods. After using this product just once, I no longer have a doubt in my mind that it was a great pkurchase.A friend and I were carrying 3/4" osb sheets three at a time without any problems. It may take a second or two to orient them the first time, but once you do, they lock in and don't slip.Another nice thing is that you can locate them at any height along the edge of the sheets, so you can get a confortable grip. The handles are confortable, much more than holding on the the sheeting itself and puts your handhold in a much more comfortable position.I believe you may also be able to use them to carry furniture or cabinets, I just haven't tryed yet.I'd recommend these to anyone. ... Editorial Review

If your hobby or job involves hauling large or heavy equipment, you need Ruxxac's folding cart. Thousands of travelers, boaters, computer technicians, musicians, and salespeople have made their lives easier with a Ruxxac cart. Sturdy and simple to use, the cart unfolds in seconds and requires no assembly. The cart weighs only 10 pounds but has a capacity to carry up to 275 pounds. Better yet, the large 7-14-inch tires--set 19 inches apart--make it easy to maneuver the cart over curbs and up and down stairs. The clever tie-down system lets you secure awkward loads in seconds. The cart's platform is 9-1/2 inches deep, plenty of room for carrying boxes, bags, and suitcases. When unfolded, the cart stands 40 inches tall. The frame is made of long-lasting powder-coated steel; the platform is made of cast aluminum. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Listed weight capacity not accurate - not even close
Product literature says this model can hold 275lbs, which is why I bought it.Was using it to ease a 70lb. camera case down a short flight of stairs, very slowly, when wheel cracked and broke midway down.Bad plastic construction of crucial components mean this was a waste of my money.Only used it five times before it broke, never with load greater than 80 lbs., and always took excellent care not to jar it over curbs, steps, etc.The only great feature of this product is its flatness and light weight. Dont use it for anything that weighs more than your cat.

Convenient to use BUT the set-up, which looks obvious enough is quite tricky. I brought mine back to the store here in Paris- broken after one try at assembly. I spoke to the salesperson who brought me to a room with a wall lined with broken "Faultless" RuXXac's- all with the same problem. He showed me the new model with a gear mechanism that seems to make set-up easier.Stay away from the older model which is unfortunately still for sale.Hopefully, mine will be replaced with the newer model. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Underpowered for hauling gravel, sand or dirt.
I purchased the LUVCart hoping that it would be a great tool for doing small jobs around the house such as moving pea gravel, dirt, and moving items back and forth from the house to my vehicle. However the LUVCart failed almost immediately after being purchased. The LUVCart is a great idea, and the plastic tub that holds material seems to be fairly well constructed. The weak point seems to be the motor and circuitry. The LUVCart only operated for me for less than an hour before it stopped working and would not restart. Even while it was in operation it strained under the very small load of pea gravel in its bucket, and the bucket was not even half full. The 5 cubic foot of material that the LUVCart is capable of handling is a wild exaggeration unless you only want to haul 5 cubic feet of grass clippings or dry leaves.

    5-0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't have thought....
I got this cart for my birthday from my wife and kids. I'm 55 and do lots of yard work, and I consider myself an active person. When I got it, I laughed and thought..."here's one gift that's going to sit in the shed". It took about 20 minutes to put together and I started using that very day. I was just amazed at how the cart made my work so much easier. Over the last month I have moved stones, rocks, mulch, and dirt. I even used it to hall out trash from the shed to make room for my cart since I wanted to have easy access to it. It can stay tilted up on its own which makes it easy to store and dump things out. I get an entire weekend out of one charge and it doesn't even slow down. My cart has two speeds forward and one reverse, which I thought was a nice feature.

Who would have thought that I would be using this, but it really works well.

5-0 out of 5 stars LUVcart
Got the cart back in May.Can towing mulch, plants, rocks get any better?Neighbors laughed at me when I ordered it.Who's laughing now?I LUV it.I did have trouble with the charger -- it went dead.Customer service was great -- I left my number, they called me back within an hour and are sending me a new one within 3 days. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for moving tables!
I read the reviews. I bought one.I like it!It's saving my back.

Don't have to move drywall or plywood, but it sure works fine in moving those heavy folding tables around when setting up an event - which I do several times a week.

Staggering across the floor with torso turned sideways to hold that hefty 8' table seemed a good way to get a back injury.Took a chance on the troll and it worked.

I lift the table off the rack onto the troll (center it) and wheel it off. It lays against the handle while I hold the top edge of the table. It maneuvers well. When on location, extend the legs, then lift the troll and the table flips upright.

For break down, lift one end of the table, middle the troll and wheel the table off.

2-0 out of 5 stars Might work well if you are short
I bought this tool to help me haul large sheets of plywood. Many good reviews, but this tool must have been made by someone 4 feet tall. The handle barely comes pas my knees. At 6ft2in tall I anticipate having issues with the ultra short handle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool.
I moved 16 sheets of cement board and 178 sheets of 4X8 sheetrock with this tool. Well worth the money spent for a great tool. Highly recommend. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars absolutely love it!
I got this for hauling different boxed items to Bazaar's and such and absolutely love it! It is so handy and can actually hold alot more than what some people think. I also use it to haul my groceries in from the car to house! I have put 4 extra large boxes on it and have had no problem with it. I did find though that you should put the turning wheels on the back instead of front. Makes it more manageable. Only thing I really wish was the handle was taller. Other than this, for the price you simply cannot go wrong!

4-0 out of 5 stars Use it all the time
We can't believe how many times we use this.I have had it for about a year and I use it for everything. From the wood pile to the house. For groceries to the house. We would be lost without this product.I will definitly buy it again because I fear we may wear the poor thing out.How about one that hold more weight.

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy cart
We use it to cart around books and heavy items. This cart is a great back saver.Works well.

Cart functions best on flat surfaces (wheels are too small to use on gravel or un-even surfaces). It is fairly maneuverable, but if it had 4 swivel wheels would work better. The fold down handle might make it possible to store easily in a closet, although we don't, and it doesn't seem to be how most people would use the item.

It's a good functional cart, well built, and a good value. ... Read more
