1-0 out of 5 stars Again Amazon fools us with the WRONG picture
[...]I say "added" because the sheath here is not the sheath pictured above. The sheath you are purchasing here is lighter brown and much more flimsy. [...]
I purchased this product specifically because I have the sheath you will receive and was disappointed with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as pictured
As another review stated, the sheath I received is not the same style as the one I received.I have one of sheaths in the style pictured and it just looks better that the ones they are sending now.Maybe that's why they used a picture of the older style in the ad.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as it used to be...
Leatherman has apparently changed the design of the deluxe Wave sheath recently. The older ones are as pictured in the Amazon pic above, with nice quality, finished leather and the word "WAVE" horizontally across the flap.

The new ones are much cheaper feeling, and appear to be oil tanned instead of finished top grain. They simply have "Leatherman" diagonally across the front. Not as nice a sheath on any level.Still, they're a good 25% narrower than the nylon version, and Amazon has them priced right. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It sucks!
I don't understand why guys here rate this unit 5 stars.
I ordered one. The one I got definitely sucks. Poor built. There are many marks and scratches in the unit. Seems not to be a true Swiss Army or maybe it's a refurbished one. I returned it and amazon charged me the shipping fee!
    Anyone has the same problem?

5-0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary.
This is extraordinary. The pocket knife yes, but also the fact that I am writing a review in praise of it. I'm a thought guy not a thing guy; I review books, typically philosophical ones. But this is a thing fit for a philosopher if ever there was one.

Circumstances have conspired to make me spend some time contemplating my Swiss Army Knife. I recently lost mine. It was a dark day. I've had this knife in my pocket for something like 25 years and use it daily. Yes, a person might get along fine without this knife, but why would they? Here's a quick, although partial, inventory: The saw comes in handy for landscaping and plumbing work (cuts PVC and ABS pipe better than a hack saw does) and for gardening (pruning limbs up to 1.75 inch diameter or more). Two knives, two screw drivers, an awl/punch/drill, a can opener, bottle opener, even a toothpick. The scissors are excellent for personal grooming (trimming finger nails and nose hairs). The steel is highest quality and holds sharp edges for years, even under constant use.
There's simply nothing like it: compact, intensely functional, inexpensive, dependable high quality. It'll be your inanimate buddy; you'll use it at home, at work, in the glorious wilderness, should you be fortunate enough to find yourself there. If you want to endear yourself to some philosopher (or perhaps even an ignorant numbskull), or maybe a guy with a nose hair problem, here's the perfect gift.
Other people probably make a 'similar' product but don't waste your money on a knock-off, wannabe or Johnny-come-lately; this knife is a legend for every good reason. The only potential drawback cannot be blamed on the knife itself -- if you've forgotten it's in your pocket you will have it rudely confiscated before you can board a commercial airliner, this we must blame on a world sadly deficient in good philosophy.
It's a beautiful thing. I found mine a few days after I lost it. My nails are clipped and life is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars All I can say is, everyone should have one....
Whether you're a guy or a gal, you'll find yourself using it over and over again. These things NEVER wear out. A must-have for everyone's pocket or purse - it's your "micro toolbox." Keep one in the car too - it just might help save your life someday. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value
I was in the market for a multi-tool for quite sometime. I considered several different models but many seemed like overkill. I mean how many attachments did I really need? I certainly wasn't looking to clean out any cow hooves or saw through a leg bone with it after a successful hunt. It has the right number of tools and features for a regular guy. I use it at work and at home all the time. The add-on tool set and carrying case are a nice bonuses. Great value for [the money].

5-0 out of 5 stars An EXCELLENT replacement for the Sideclip
I had written a review about the Leatherman Sideclip, calling it the best daily carry multi-tool I had found. This was until I got a Gerber Sport.

My "heavy-use" multi-tool is a Gerber, and I would often carry onto a jobsite if I knew I was going to be using such a tool. The "auto-pliers" and locking tools make it a fine choice.

The Scout retains these qualities, slims down the size and weight, and adds a very heavy duty set of scissors that I have personally used to shear thru thick leather hides.Cuts seatbelts like a charm as well.

The selection of tools isn't comprimised on this smaller model either.A good selection of ground screwdriver blades and a solid combo-edge knife are the standouts.

I have owned many a Leatherman, and I have twisted and tweaked the screwdriver blades on every one of them.I have *never* had this happen with a Gerber.

Those of us that have had to apply a good amount of force to a multi-tool plier have known what the hollows of a Leatherman feel like.Hard to apply pressure for any length of time as it "bites" into your hand. The Gerber's handle is rounded and quite comfortable for such activity.

One last note:As silly as it sounds, taking out your Leatherman in the middle of a task can often be clumsy as you butterfly it out to get at the pliers. With the Gerber, you flick your wrist and you're ready to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just the tool I needed
I first used this type of gerber onboard a ship, and its great! has practically everthing you need with an added tool set sor you can fit more screws. Its much easier to have this sitting on your belt loop ready to use then to have to fish around in a tool bag or box for the tool you need. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The Pulse is the perfect multitool for anyone looking for improvements over the original without some of the expensive excesses of the Wave and Supertool. This model also keeps Leatherman one step ahead of the competition by including a serrated version of the excellent scissors found in its previous models. We especially appreciate the comfortable rounded handles, and we think the sharpening groove in the file is a great idea. This model saves on weight and cost by leaving out the serrated knife, the saw, and the extra flat screwdriver that come with the Wave, but we think Leatherman's made the right choice and kept the essential tools. After all, how many of us really find ourselves suddenly in need of a 3-inch saw? It happens--but probably not often enough to warrant the extra heft in our pockets.

The Pulse keeps Leatherman's excellent pliers and wire cutters, the improved scissors, the diamond-coated file, the sharpening groove, three flat screwdrivers, one Phillips screwdriver, and the can/bottle opener. It is compatible with Leatherman's tool adapter. It has all-locking blades with innovative side latches for easy unlocking. We think it strikes the right balance between low price and high functionality. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool; very handy for a woman!
The Pulse is an awesome tool, for a man OR for a woman.I use mine almost daily -- whether I need a knife to cut something, or some scissors when I'm away from home, or a screwdriver, it's all right there.I can't speak for the advantages/disadvantages for getting a Pulse vs. another Leatherman product, but I can say that this tool has been incredibly helpful to me, and is easy to use.The only difficult part is that the locking/unlocking mechanism is a little difficult at times, but I'd much prefer that to it not working correctly.

And, uh, watch out -- the knife blade is very sharp!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pulse vs Wave
I have both Pulse and Wave. I bought the Wave after Pulse since the Pulse got me in love with Leatherman. In the end, I think the Wave is better by a margin, especially if you use the knives frequently. It is an enjoyment to use either one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Updated PST, great for fisherman.
This Leatherman tool proves that they listen to their customers. It has all locking blades like the Super tool, the sizzors and diamond file of the PST2. It's no bigger than the original Leatherman. What more could you want?

It's the perfect fisherman's Leatherman. Quick draw pliers, with the rounded edged butterfly handles for releasing hooked fish, a hook sharpening grove in the file, sizzors for trimming excess line. The small screw driver for your reel. An easy thumb control for the locking mechanism. Works with the tool adaptor you already own.

If you were thinking about getting the original Leatherman, or the PST2, or the Side Clip, spend the extra bucks and get this one. You'll be glad you did. If you are considering the larger Super Tool, ask yourself how large a piece of wood can you cut with a 3" blade? Do you really want to clean sawdust out of your Leatherman? vs buying a folding saw. Do you really need a larger set of pliers? If you need one handed blade opening with pliers, then the WAVE is the way to go, otherwise this is the Leatherman of the 2000's. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

When it comes to pocket multitools, nobody innovates quite like Leatherman. The XE6--a.k.a. Thunder--is the flagship of the new Juice line, and it packs more tools into a smaller, tighter package than any multitool we've seen yet. Like all the Juice tools, the Thunder sports anodized-aluminum handles in a cool color, in this case purple. Only 3.2 inches long, and weighing a mere 6.8 ounces, the Thunder is small enough to be comfortably carried in a pocket. Like all Leatherman tools, the Thunder butterflies open, exposing needle-nose pliers, wire cutters/stripper, an extra-small screwdriver, a small screwdriver, a large screwdriver, and a Philips driver. A straight knife, a serrated knife, a saw, a diamond file, scissors, an awl, a corkscrew, and a bottle opener can all be quickly accessed from outside the tool. We especially like the satisfying way the Juice models positively click into the open position. The individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel, the same quality found on other Leatherman tools. The Thunder does lack the positive blade-locking mechanism found on Leatherman's Wave, but the blades click securely into place and are far less likely to collapse than the blades on traditional pocketknives. We think most people will find the missing lock outweighed by the advantages of the sleek, compact design. A smart choice for people who want the full complement of tools, the Thunder is a sure-fire gift for the technophiles and gadget lovers in your life. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Durable Tool
I came into possession of a Juice in rather odd way.Mine came from under eight inches of sand at a saltwater beach in Southern Maine as a response from my metal detector.

What a great find! This tool was encrusted with salt sand, and a good rinse with fresh water made it as good as new.The only damage is few very small nicks in the anodized handle , which came from electrolylsis.

The tool took that sandy grave without major complaint and works like it just came from the store new. This is testament to a well built quality tool.I have a Leatherman Wave & vastly prefer the Juice. Why?I like the fact the Juice has a phillips head screwdriver, that it is more compact, and has a positive detent on almost everytool when you open them.
The Juice, unlike the Wave has bolsters which makes it feel more hefty in your hand.Someone else quibbled about the corkscrew. That's not the reason to buy a well made tool-or am I missing something here? The Juice has every conceivable tool one might need except perhaps a wine cellar or glass chiller.

Addendum: The "levering mechanism" (for the corkscrew) that some one else mentioned in their review is a can opener opener-not a levering mechanism for the "joke" corkscrew.

5-0 out of 5 stars I keep it in my car
This is a handy tool. I like the look and feel. I keep it in my car. My girlfriend likes it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Near-perfect for pro computer geeks
I picked one of these to replace my original and well-worn Leatherman, and I'm quite happy with it. It's very comfortable, and comes with everything a computer/network tech needs. The pliers are always useful, the knife blades are sharp and strong. The saw is perfect for cutting drywall or plastic, and the screwdrivers are just perfect for times when you have a quick job and don't want to go get a full tool kit. I use this thing literally dozens of times a day, and it does everything it's supposed to. While its perfect for computer pros, it might be a little light duty for automotive work, though it's very durable for what I do with it. If you're looking for a gift for a mechanic, you might want to consider the Super Tool instead, but any geek would love this model. As an added bonus, it looks pretty cool too. ... Read more

Have you ever found yourself fumbling around for a screwdriver, pliers, or some other small implement at the office, outdoors, or at a neighbor’s house? We’ve all been there. Unfortunately, the tool belt has not yet become an acceptable anytime fashion accessory. Luckily, the Leatherman Sideclip has. The Sideclip provides an assortment of gadgets -- standard and needlenose pliers; regular and hard wire cutters; a drop point knife; small, medium and large screwdriver tips; a Phillips screwdriver; a can and bottle opener and a ruler -- all in one rugged, compact tool. An integrated clip eliminates the need for a separate sheath. Just clip it and go. It’s a great accessory for any outdoor enthusiast or anyone who always wants to have a set of tools handy.--Carl Thress ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I need
I love this tool!I've owned many different multi-tools, and while some offer features this little leatherman doesn't have, the Sideclip offers all I really need:a good knife blade, a couple of screwdriver tips, and needle-nose pliers with wire cutters. Most usefull, though, is its handiness; relatively compact and light, I clip it in a pocket in the morning and forget it is there until I need it. Like all Leatherman products the Sideclip is solid and well made, plus it is cheap at thirty bucks.Great tool.

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be perfect, but...
The pliers part is made of softer metal. I've tried once to cut thin steel wire with my SideClip and quickly ruined the pliers, so it became very hard to open and close ever since :( The rest of the tools seem fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better investment than Enron...
I've had my sideclip for over 5 years now, and it's just getting better with time.Smooth action, all the tools you need on the job but not too many.I'm a stage rigger, so the sideclip attaches right to my fall protection harness. It works great since I can't always bring the right tool for the job 120 feet in the air.All leatherman products I have used have surpassed my expectations, which are high as I own a Wave, a PST, and now two sideclips.A sturdy tool, I've alrady bought another one and keep it in storage just in case this one breaks and they stop making them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars my fave SAK
I have several swiss army knives up and down the range including a 700th anniversary of the swiss federation.
This is my favorite for everyday use... not too much stuff you don't use and all the stuff you do need in a reasonable size and weight. A really well made and reliable companion.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST KNIFE MONEY CAN BUY
This is the best pocket knife you can own. Victorinox means the best quality you can buy. Large and small blades are razor sharp. Bottle opener is used more often than the can opener. Large and small sized screwdriver tip on each tool. The phillips head screwdriver is much more useful than a corkscrew in my opinion. The toothpick and tweezers are in the handle. This Swiss Army Knife version does not have scissors so it's not as bulky. If you want the scissors try the 'Super Tinker' model. Victorinox has been in the knife making business over 100 years. If you want a pocket knife that will last you a lifetime try the Swiss Army Tinker.

1-0 out of 5 stars The dull Knife
I Purchased this knife about a month ago I used it to open a bottle and it broke I thought it was a fluke later that day I purchased a new one thinking mine was a defect But in wasn't it was the knife. I used it to open a plastic bag and it wouldn't cut so how about that. Later that week I purchased a Eddie Bauer Pocket Knife and it hasn't let me down. I used it on alluminum cans, on everything, I even filet a fish with it and it worked great. So next time you are looking for a Pocket Knife stay away from he brand that breaks and say great to Eddie Bauer. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars better then most.
This is a pretty nice knife except for a couple of issues I'd have rated it higher.

    Bad points-

Only one standard screw driver blade - small size with a nice bottle opener built in the same blade. My son dropped this once when he barrowed it from me and the screwdriver blade chipped. Must be some pretty good hardened steel.

No saw - The black Finegrif (tm) saw blade is a joke. It would take half an hour (at least) to cut through a small nail and the blade is too thin to not break right off. For wood this blade is even less effective. This is a none usable...

The file has no teeth on the side like a proper file should. One side is a double cut and the other single cut (metal). No chance for an emergency manicure here.

Can opener blade has no fingernail slot and it's sharp so it's hard to safely deploy.

    Best things about this knife-

Nice set of needle nose pliers great for small precision type jobs. One handed operation (pliers only) and also has a comfortable grip.

Scissors- a necessity in my opinion.

locking blades- excellent system for locking the blades

All and all a good quality tool but with some design flaws.

4-0 out of 5 stars Designed for many uses and it works well
Quality -- The first observation I must make concerning the Multi-Plier 600 Pro Scout with Needlenose pliers (and all the other modern Gerber products with which I'm familiar) is the outstanding quality of the fit and finish. This particular product proudly wears a Made In USA label, and it features satin-finished stainless steel throughout with Zytel plastic buttons to unlock the fold out tools. It opens fairly smoothly, feels solid in your hand, and the knife blade and other tools lock in the open position for safe and secure use.

Selection -- Choosing an ideal multi-tool is perhaps the hardest task facing the user. Multi-tool marketing favors manufacturers and retailers because there are so many different configurations (too many, in fact, and you could find yourself with a collection.) I don't like that for reasons too numerous to mention, but suffice to say there's no single multi-tool that includes all the tools I might want or need. An ideal scenario would be a build-your-own concept, but that's out of the question since Gerber doesn't sell direct to the consumer.

Usability -- The 600 ProScout lets you carry a lot of useful tools in a compact package that weighs about twelve ounces. The tools are as follows:

    1. The needlenose pliers are one of the best in a multi-tool. They are precision made and allow a lot of leverage and pressure to be applied to a part. They retract into the handles for storage. On this model, they must be deployed to use the fold out tools; this is one thing that makes this tool unique from some of the other Gerber tools.

    2. The tool steel file, made by Simonds, is coarse on one side and fine on the other; it suffers from being too small for most of what you'd want a file for, but it still has some use.

    3. There's one Phillips (crosshead) screwdriver that is about a #1 head size. It's just too small to inspire confidence when I am prone to overtighten EVERYTHING.

    4. Two slotted blade screwdrivers (small and medium) are actually ground to size as opposed to just being stampings. Screwdrivers are usually the weakest link in a multi-tool because of their small size and the twisting pressures that are applied to them so you definitely don't want to pretend they are prybars, too.

    5. One of the screwdrivers is also a bottle opener (opens bottle caps I guess, but I have NEVER used this).

    6. There's a can opener that's well made; while it does work well, it's not my choice to use in the kitchen but while camping or while parked along a roadside waiting for triple A after grocery shopping it's another story.

    7. The drop point knife is a combination fine edge and serrated edge. While it's a good blade, in the Gerber tradition, you don't get enough of either edge style and it's VERY difficult to sharpen the serrated part.

    8. There's a RemGrit (tungsten carbide grit on alloy steel) jig saw blade in a universal coupler. It cuts on the forward and reverse strokes and is self sharpening. I just had to have this multi-tool because it has this saw that cuts a lot of different materials. The blade can be replaced when it wears out or you could swap it with a regular wood or metal jig saw blade.

    9. The Fiskars scissors are small but sharp. I'm not disappointed by their usefulness and quality, but then real men and women won't do their tailoring with this thing either.

Maybe it's just me, but cutting stuff is what this particular tool configuration is about (knife, saw, scissors) and that's why it's nice to have the file to touch up rough edges which is invariably what I get when I cut stuff. The tool would be more useful still if it had a lanyard ring on it so then I wouldn't need another model multi-tool for another hobby.

I could give this a five star rating if it wasn't for the fact that every multi-tool combo is a compromise of convenience (miniaturization) versus function. Plus you pay dearly for having many tools in the package while you have the expectation that you'll have use for the chosen tool configuration often. The Gerber Multi-Plier is a handy way to keep your life together without carrying a toolbox.

    4-0 out of 5 stars It's OK
I've had this tool for about 14 months now, and it's OK. It has come in handy a few times, but that's what a multi-tool is supposed to do. After 14 months of relatively consistent use, here's what I have to say...

KNIFE: Absolutely incredible. This knife is still unbelievably sharp. I love it.

PLIERS: They do their job as pliers should do.

WIRE CUTTER: I cut some copper wire a few months ago, and now the wire cutter is notched. The wire wasn't even that thick. 10-12 gauge max. They should be made of a stronger metal.

    FILE: never used it

    SAW: never used it

CAN OPENER: It's a little tricky, but it does the job.

    BOTTLE OPENER: Opens all drinks

SCREWDRIVERS: They're too short and stubby. You can only use them on flush surfaces. I know the Leathermans have longer screwdriver attachments.

SCISSORS: They tackle small jobs well enough.

It's an average tool. It's better than the junky ones, but it's not worth raving over. After 14 months, all the attachments jiggle a little, and it makes it tough to close the pliers. The knife is the best part, the rest is so-so. If you asked me if I would buy this again, I would say no, and I would buy the Leatherman Wave. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Master of innovation, Leatherman has unleashed the Juice line of multitools, including the S2. Compared to other Juice models, the S2 packs fewer tools, but it has a remarkably sleek profile, making a great choice for people who want the basics without the bulk. The S2 sports cool, "Storm Gray", anodized-aluminum handles, and it's designed to be curvy and comfortable to hold. Like all Leatherman tools, the S2 butterflies open, exposing needle-nose pliers, wire cutters/stripper, an extra-small screwdriver, a small screwdriver, a large screwdriver, and a Phillips driver. A straight knife, scissors, and bottle/can opener can all be quickly accessed from outside the tool. We especially like the satisfying way these Juice models positively click into the open position. The individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel, the same quality found on other Leatherman tools. The only difference between the S2 and the nearly identical C2 is that the S2 comes with scissors and lacks a corkscrew; the C2 has the corkscrew and lacks the scissors. The S2's compact utility and stylish design make it a great gift--it's the perfect tool to carry in a purse or briefcase. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Right
I can count on the fingers of a closed fist the number of times I've unexpectedly needed a file, teeny saw, corkscrew, or many of the other tools stuffed into many multitools.I don't like wimpy tools, but I also don't need to hear "Is that a multitool or are you just glad to see me?"

All this leads to my multitool preferences.I want a well-selected set of the tools that really matter, sturdy and high quality construction, and pocket-friendly size and shape.I've handled many multitools over the years.None ever hit the mark until the Leatherman Juice S2.

This is the perfect multitool for EDC (Every Day Carry). It's light and elegant enough to ride in dress pants, yet tough enough to be stuffed into my jeans. This is a pants pocket tool, make no mistake. When folded it has no sharp edges or corners to wear a hole in your pocket.Leatherman does not make holsters for the Juice series because that's not how they are meant to be stowed.

The weight and tool durability/quality are well balanced.Stronger tools would have made the S2 too heavy for pant pocket EDC.Lighter tools wouldn't do the job - as is the case with many Swiss Army Knife tools.

The tool selection is perfect too.The most frequently used tools - knife (only one blade is needed and provided), scissors, and can/bottle opener - are available without opening the pliers.Inside, in addition to the pliers, are soft & hard wire cutters and 4 screwdrivers. No rarely used tools to clutter up my clothes and make the tool clumsy to use.

The Juice tools are designed well and seem to be solidly built. The knife, for example, is just long enough to easily section fruit. It has a hollow grind for easy cut entry, yet also has a spine that is wide enough to offer good flexural strength. The blade is nicely polished. The edge is ground with the correct grit and direction for the sort of cutting the tool is likely to see.

It doesn't hurt that the S2 is also the cheapest Juice.Highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat expensive for what you get.
I bought the Sealpup for use as a dive knife, and after a year of use have this to say about the knife.

-The original sheath isn't the most comfortable in use. Doesn't seem to fit the knife that well.
-The phosphate finish on the blade isn't as corrosion resistant as I had expected. Not much better than a typical stainless steel blade. However, the blade keeps it's edge extemely well.
-The handle doesn't grip as well as other knives when wet.

Overall, I'm not sure it's performance justifies the relatively high price this knife costs.

4-0 out of 5 stars SOG Craftmanship
Pro's: Weighted nicely, solid construction, extreme factory sharpness, no-slip grip, and the coating doesn't scratch off like a lot of other coated knives.
Cons: Sheath definately needs some re-designing- too thick for comfortable concealed carry- if want to rock this one comfortably, be prepared for it to be visible to other people. There is also something a little bit awkward about the scale, which may be remedied by getting the full size one.

All in all, a very handy and practical kinfe- the pro's definately outweigh the con's on this one. Keep up the good work, SOG!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value, quality knife
Among other knives in it's class, this knife is one of my favorites due to the low cost, the coated blade, and the weighting. Comes extremely sharp- only downside is the sheath. I had to slightly modify it in order to make it practical for concealed carry, but after that it was fairly easy to conceal. Two thumbs up. ... Read more

The Schrade I-Quip takes the idea of the multitool to a whole new level. Sure it has a stainless-steel cutting blade, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a built-in saw, a bottle opener, a can opener, a corkscrew, and scissors. What else would you expect from a world leader in knives and tools? But what really sets the I-Quip apart is its cargo of intelligent extras, including a computer-powered altimeter (good to 29,500 feet), barometer (with a thermometer that offers both standard and metric readings), digital compass, and clock (complete with stopwatch, alarm, date, and backlight). 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Add on for Super Tool
As a Desktop Support Tech I find myself tearing open PC's a lot. This attachment lets me keep my most essential screwdrivers and bits on my waist instead of me digging the right one up and bringing it back to the machine, or carrying the machine all the way back to my workbench and doing the job then bringing it back. I don't have time to do that so I like to do as much as I can at the users location. Well this lets me do that. My only complaint is that the bits are not magnetic so until I get some to carry with me I have to be careful about dropping screws. For those Techs out there still working on older Compaq systems the star driver comes with the attachment so you don't have to go hunting one down if you use this product. Well done Leatherman, well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great, great tool, made even better...
This is a wonderful tool.I picked up a leatherman tool just over eight months ago and just received the tool adaptor. It takes an already extremely practical tool and makes it even more so.The hex bit driversare interchangeable with any of your favorite existing hex bits, and thecarrying case snaps onto your belt alongside your other pocket tools. After getting the attachment, I am scouring local hardware stores for moregreat hex bits. Now if i could only find a great carrying case for all mybits...

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy gadget to expand the use of your Leatherman(tm)
First, let me mention an important fact missing in the description.

The tool adaptor only works with the original Leatherman known as the PST(tm), the PST2(tm), the Sideclip(tm), the Supertool(tm), and the Flair(tm). It does not work with the WAVE(tm), Micra(tm),and Crunch(tm) which doesn'tneed it because it has the 1/4" drive holder built in.

The reason isthat in order to fit the Leatherman tool the Tool Adaptor relies on araised shoulder on the side of the handle on the pliers. Only the abovementioned Leatherman plier tools have this handle design. (SOG owners willjust have to drool, as it doesn't fit.)

Now for all you owners of thoseLeatherman tools who have this design. This adaptor is great. It has astandard 1/4 drive head which holds any electric screwdriver head. Thereare inumerable heads that are available from hardware stores. You can nowfix those tiny phillips screws, those torix head bolts, those robertsonhead screws, those allen head bolts. All with this adaptor. The best thingabout using the adaptor vs the straight screw driver that comes with theLeatherman is the adaptor locks in place both up and down and side to side.No folding tools while you are levering away.

To use it, you open yourpliers, slide the adaptor over the top, positioning the tab into theshoulder of the handle and close the pliers around the adaptor. Its nowlocked in place.

I recommend that you also buy the larger sheath thatgoes with your tool adaptor and the type of Leatherman(tm) pliers you have.If you can't find it here, look at the Leatherman(tm) home site. They don'tsell the knives, just the sheaths. Being able to carry the pliers and thisadaptor and a number of bits on your belt in one handy case is worthit.

This tool adaptor is a great addition for that tool person whoalready has a Leatherman. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

The Juice KF4 from Leatherman packs 14 very cool tools into one compact, Storm Gray, anodized-aluminum body. Only 3-1/4 inches long, and weighing a mere 5-1/2 ounces, the KF4 truly is small enough to carry comfortably in your pocket. Like other Leatherman tools, the KF4 butterflies open to expose the needle-nose pliers/wire cutters/wire stripper, with access to three flat-head screwdrivers, a Phillips driver, and a lanyard attachment. The tool's handles harbor additional tools: a saw, an awl, a diamond-coated file, a ruler, a serrated knife, and a straight knife. When it's time to work, the KF4 positively snaps into the open position. The individual tools are made of high-grade stainless steel. The Juice multitools do lack the blade-locking mechanism found on Leatherman's Wave, but the blades click crisply in place and hold securely. Like all the Juice models, the KF4 makes a snazzy gift for technophiles and gadget lovers alike. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Carry it all the time, but lost it and now I'm lost
This is the best version of this little knife. The flashlight is useful (especially for us old folks who are losing vision in dim places) and a conversation piece. The pen is always there when you need it, unlike other pens I've had (and invariably lose). Alas, I forgot to put this knife in my checked bags, and it has gone to the big security office in the sky. I'm buying another asap. Maybe two, one for a spare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Keychain Companion
I've had one these puppies hanging on my keychain for about 1 year now and it's been a lifesaver at times. The light comes in handy when you're stuck in a dark spot and I can't tell you how many times I've been stuck without a pen and then suddenly remembered that I did have one, on my knife! The pen hasn't run out yet and always writes great. The scissors cut with the precision you'd expect from a Victorinox knife and the nailfile and knife are always useful whoever you may be. All in all, a great companion to any keychain!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Medic tool
I was an Aerovac Medic for the US Air Force.I carried my Gerber with me as basic equipment. You don't have to peal open this tool, like a Leatherman. All you have to do is place it between your thumb and fore finger, flick your wrist, the pliars thrust out, and lock into place. It's great for one handed use.I used it many emergency situations.Great for cutting parachute cord, fixing medical equipment, cutting bandages, and eating MRE's.Fantastic Multi-use tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gerber fishing multi-tool
The quality and design oriented toward the purpose of use during fishing is impeccable.Other Multi-tools may be good but this couldn't be any better.I fish all the time and this tool will be going with me. I have no aspect of this tool that I am not in approval of and I particularly like that the carbide/cobalt cutters can be replaced.

5-0 out of 5 stars One tool that does it all
For fisherman, this is a great multi-tool that does almost everything you need except tie on your tackle. The best feature is the ability to open the pliers with one hand. That comes in very handy when you have a rod or a fish in the other hand. The wire cutters went through fireline very well, and the scissors handle every other type of line. The file and knife blade came out easily and locked into place so you don't have the issue of it folding back on it's self. Not to mention it's a very sharp blade! The only down side was using the split ring spreader was a little awkward it's pretty far back on the tool. One piece of advice, USE THE LANYARD. My first one of these is at the bottom of a lake. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Premium Quality
I own/collect several multitool brands (Gerber,Leatherman,SOG,Schrade) and by far I am happiest with SOG multitools. The Gerber tool's finish is showing some corrosion and the small flathead screwdriver's tip broke. The Leatherman tools are good (Juice S2 and Kick), but are overpriced (Juice S2).Leatherman is the granddad of multitools and likely offers the widest variety of multitools, but comparative shopping is a must. The Schrade tool is awkward in that some of the tools lockout and some don't lock at all.I am sure it is because some don't require lockout to work, but my opinion is that they should all lockout. I have two SOG multitools (Power Plier and a smaller version)and am very impressed with the heavy duty, anti-corrosive finish, precision, and function of all the instruments. The smaller version has some instruments (phillips screwdriver and a file) that don't have the shiny,chrome-like finish, but still perform well and show no sign of corrosion. All the instruments lockout and work as expected. I've noticed that once any multitool is used for a repair it is not long after that one gets to see how the metal finish endured the stress of the work.I consider this one of the litmus tests of all multitools. Like I previously mentioned in the section about the Gerber tool, some brands just don't stand up well to duress and one will find that the manufacturer actually has a disclaimer that warns against using the tool for what I consider it's intended purpose:on-the-spot, contingency repair.I highly recommend the SOG multitools for that type of use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not only inferior, but hazardous as well.
I have owned and used the SOG Paratool for a little over ten years. It has a good assortment of tools and it has proven handy on a number of occasions, but it has no significant advantages over the Leatherman, and significant disadvantages.

They claim that the way that the pliers pivot out from one side of the handles is advantageous for leverage, but I've never been able to figure out just how that is supposed to happen.Rather, the arrangment makes it very awkward to access the other tools. You have to grasp the jaws of the pliers in order to fully unfold the handles, then fold one handle back over the plier, but the plier action isn't spring operated and the locking action is barely perceptible, so as you open it and then fold one handle closed, the plier jaws have a tendency to open and close, pinching your skin. When trying to use the pliers, because the locking action is so weak, the slightest twisting motion will cause one or both of the two handles to fold over on you, which can cause the jaws to slip and again lead to a very bad pinch on your hand, bad enough to break the skin.Simply put, this design is hazardous.

When I bought it, the thing that attracted me is the smooth outer surface of the plier handles. That is its single advantage over the Leatherman, but when I weigh that against its considerable disadvantages, I have to conclude that it is a decidedly inferior tool. Each time that I used it, my resolve to replace it increased, and I recently replaced it with a Leatherman Juice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable, very useful...and yes, it does open with one hand.
I just bought my second Paratool to replace one I left overseas with my father-in-law. I also have a SOG PowerLock. Both the Paratool and the PowerLock have been completely durable and reliable and perform like new. When I still had both, I always carried one with me - the larger, heavier PowerLock in the outdoors or while traveling, and the smaller, lighter Paratool on more "formal" occasions where slipping in into a pocket or less bulk on the belt was called for. My wife still calls me "SOG-Man" now and then (the mythic superhero with the power to repair). Now that I only have the one, I find I miss having the Paratool.
To open the Paratool one-handed, simply press on the lanyard ring/tab with your thumb and the pliers head pivots up and out to where your thumb can press it down into position. As far as the pliers head not locking - that's an asset not a liability. I've fished out many a small part from tight places where the head's ability to pivot was "mission critical".
I carry a SOG with me for those times when I'm not near a tool box or when something just pops up that needs doing/fixing. If I'm planning to do a specific job - say remodel the kitchen, drop the transmission out of the car or wire a network with CAT-5 cable, I assemble a proper tool kit for the job.
I highly recommend the Paratool or the PowerLock. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Packing 14 individual tools into a remarkably compact, Storm Gray, anodized-aluminum body, Leatherman's cool new CS4 is a midsize member of the company's exciting, new Juice line of multitools. Only 3-1/4 inches long, and weighing a mere 5-1/2 ounces, the CS4 really is small enough to carry comfortably in your pocket. Like other Leatherman tools, the CS4 butterflies open, exposing the needle-nose pliers/wire cutters/wire stripper, with access to three flat-head screwdrivers, a Phillips driver, and a lanyard attachment--the same tools you'll find inside Leatherman's KF4 Solar. The CS4's handles, however, harbor a different combination of tools that are perfect for picnickers: scissors, a can/bottle opener, corkscrew, a saw, an awl, and a straight knife. Like the entire Leatherman's Juice line, the CS4 positively snaps into the open position, and the individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel. The Juice multitools do lack the blade-locking mechanism found on Leatherman's Wave, but the blades click crisply into place and hold securely. Looking for a gift for your favorite technophile or gadget lover? You can't go wrong with the CS4. Made in the USA. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product for an all around tool...
I have another leatherman and I take it with me everywhere in my truck. It has saved me many times before and I know it will continue to save me in the future.I just bought 5 of these since I am getting married in October for my groomsman.I know they will love it because it will be a good tool for them in the years to come and they will always think of the wedding when they need to use it.

The tools are well set, and the feel is very sturdy. This thing has enough tools to do some quick fixes if something breaks on your car, house or just about anywhere because you have the basic tools to make the repair.

Seriously, you NEED one of these for those just in case days. ... Read more
