5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding for joist hangers
I bought one of these because I dread hand nailing all the nails on a joist hanger. This little palm nailer does the trick!

It's quick, drives all the little hanger nails and the 10 pennyones too.It can even be used to drive that little spike on the hanger to hold the hanger in place before nailing. The unit is fairly light and fits comfortably in the hand.I'll bet I cut the time down to 1/5th verses hand nailing.

The only disadvantage to this tool is the noise. It is loud so you may want to have some hearing protection available.

    Well worth the $$$...enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great but....
Bought a N88RH-2MCN and the PN100 came with it (for free).

Works really really well EXCEPT - the manual says it will
drive a 70d nail but nothing close to that size nail will
fit in the tip...called Bostitch a few times - first they
said that tip only comes in a kit (PN100K) and cannot be
purchased separately, then called back and talked to someone
that knew the product - he said that the nose piece for the
larger nails does not exist anywhere and that the engineering
dept was notified and knows of the situation.

This thing will drive any nail that you can get in the nose
    piece REALLY REALLY well.

    I have driven true 16d (3 1/2 inch long, 0.162" diameter)
all the way into 2x6's and it really works well and is very
    quick.

I had a Porter Cable Framing Nailer to build my shop but gave it to Habitat For Humanity when done since I would hardly ever use it in the future.I recently have some little odd jobs to do so thought about a palm nailer. The price on the Bostich is even lower than Harbor Freight's "import".I've only tried it with 6d nails but it works great. You do have to add a 1/4"npt fitting ($0.99).I'm too old to pound nails with a hammer all day so this tool is a great help to me. ... Editorial Review

Right off the bat, you know you're getting a great nailer if it says Bostitch on it, and this model more than lives up to that reputation. Talk about power--it fires with 1,000 inch-pounds of driving power to tackle even the toughest engineered lumber. In spite of that, it's lighter than we expected at just 7.9 pounds, but the balance in hand is so sweet that it doesn't feel nearly that heavy. We really like how the molded-rubber comfort grip feels, too, absorbing the shock. Another great feature is the aggressive toenailing teeth, which bite into your workpiece for totally slip-free toenailing. It loads super fast to keep you on the job, and the push-button depth control is so slick that it's patented. Tool-free exhaust adjustment is a nice plus. No matter what your project--framing, sheathing, siding, trusses, wood to masonry, fencing, or decking--this nailer will not let you down. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid, dependable, versatile... a workhorse
I've been using my Bostitch N88RH nailer for the past year on a remodel (after reading reviews here). Toe-nailing is very easy with the sharp barbs, and being able to adjust the depth on the gun is a great feature. It does jam occasionally and sometimes getting the jammed nail out takes a bit of work (why I gave it 4 instead of 5). Most of the time, I've found the issues with jams due to the nails (the plastic coating doesn't always get completely removed so the next nail in line doesn't get into position correctly) and not the gun - per se. I've only used it in single fire mode so I can't comment on the rapid fire action. The gun feels nice in your hand, solid but not heavy. I'm in S.F., so finding nails has not been a problem. Overall, I would definitely recommend this nailer to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Experience
I selected this unit because it was a somewhat newer model than the PC round head framer.
After 4 nails it jammed.Tried adding more air pressure.
Shot 4 more nails, jammed again.
Cleared jam, then the nailgun shot (2) nails together!
Then jammed badly, with (2) nails stuck in the shute.
Reqired disassembly to get the jam cleared.
(Yes, the correct nails were being used, air pressure 70-90)
Anyone interested in buying a nailgun?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gun
Oustanding gun!Light weight and prefectly balanced.Tons of power to counter sink even the biggest nails.Easily sunk 16d ring shanks into treated lumber. The depth of drive is a sinch to adjust, just push the button on the nose piece. My only gripe with this gun is the lack of an eazy clear feature to clear any jams but i havent had a single problem with jams yet.Just remember that this gun shoots round head nails and not clipped head wire welds.I use Duo-Fast full head nails because that is all that is available here in Southeast Texas and they work fine. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Good tool - poor engineering
I bourght this tool from my local dealer in the UK. As we pay a lot more for the tools (rougly $680 USD) in england i was expecting great things - how wrong was i!!

i used it for about six months then the driving blade wouldn't return into the cylinder so i had to keep pushing it in manualy. i returned the tool and Senco UK who gave me a full refund with not even the option of replacing the tool - i don't know if they are taking them of th marketin the UK but i now run with the DeWalt - what a tool - i know it is a brad nailer but that is the norm hear as most people who do trim use the paslode.

dont waste your money - get the DeWalt!

1-0 out of 5 stars Great tool while it works
I've had 3 of these love them while they work but then they break. First one purchased over a year ago was open box unit from home depot didn't work from the start, called Senco they sent me a new one next day air. I was impressed by their customer service. Used this one occasionally for almost year doing remodel and repair jobs shot maybe 4 to 5 thousand nails through it then it broke last fall. Took it to a factory authorized service center waited about 4 weeks and paid $75 I've used it on a few times jobs since then and it is broke again. bottom line It's a great tool if you don't use it.

1-0 out of 5 stars I Don't work for Paslode
I run a good bit of trim.I loved the convenience and reliability of this gun for the year or so that I used it, and then it dissolved.I heard parts rattling around inside and opened it up.A metal cover has fractured, the aircraft cable that wraps it was cut and pinched, and I can't find parts easily. For almost 20 years I have loved Senco tools, but I do not consider expensive bread and butter tools to be throwaways. It also gave no warning whatsoever.Great one minute, dead the next.Anyone need batteries and a charger?
Finally, I don't abuse tools, always kept it in its case, and used Senco nails. This tool has no excuse.

    A follow up:
I called Senco and they agreed without fuss to fix the tool, which a local shop did quickly and for free. Now I am back to my air free addiction.I still am concerned about long term reliability, but must compliment the company for standing behind the product. ... Read more

The first time you pick up the Bostitch N62FNK-2, you mightwonder if such a lightweight finish nailer (it weighs just 3.8 pounds, the lightest in its class) can really get the job done. But once youpull the trigger and feel the 400 in./lbs. of driving power at yourfingertips, those doubts will disappear and you'll wonder how you everdid without it before. Rugged and sturdy enough for virtually anyapplication, the N62FNK-2 delivers fast, clean, accurate results usingfinish nails from 1 to 2-1/2 inches in length. 5-0 out of 5 stars It's been a great nailer!
I researched a lot of nailers; Max, PortaCable, DeWalt, Makita, Hitachi, Senco and Bostitch.

They all have different strong points and from reviews I've read, they're all pretty good. I boiled it down to personal preference. I looked at what features I really wanted and the ones that I could do without along with the compromises I could live with.

I was concerned by a previous post regarding breaking the driver if you inadvertently hit a buried solid object, ie. screw or nail etc.

I spoke with a Senco rep who said that when they redesigned the 41xp the engineer turned the driver rod around which made it a little more resistant to breakage and during test fires he's hit previously driven nails without incident although he did say it's something that can happen but they don't see a lot of it.

I contacted Bostitch regarding their driver. They stated it was made from S7 tool steel and they haven't heard of any problems.

I narrowed my choice to oiless of which there are only 2; Senco and Bostitch. If I didn't mind getting an oil version I'd get the Hitachi. I also wanted a light gun, Bostich is the lightest.

So far so good! I love the nailer, especially the lack of weight. It's well balanced and has a lot of power. The fine setting adjustment on the nose is unmarked as to which way you turn it to sink a nail deeper or more shallow. The direction of rotation is shown in the user manual. Just think of it the way you tighten or loosen screws. Clockwise - deeper etc.

The no-mar pad is black, I'd rather it be clear but I've developed a habit and ability to sight through the hole and position it in the right place.

It has good safety features, is well constructed and for the price I think it's a good deal. It's also made in U.S.A. the Senco is made in Taiwan.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Bostitch N6FNK-2
I have used this finish nailer extensively while building a 24 x 40 foot RV cover and while remoulding two houses. This nailer has never failed to fire when needed. It has never jammed either while using it with a campbell hausfield air comp.I run the nailer at 80 pounds with great results.I have just finished remolding my daughters house and shoot an entire box of nails with no problems.I use factury nails 2 1/2" and 2" long.

1-0 out of 5 stars Duo-fast vs. Bostich
From the sound of these reviews, the gun seems to work pretty good for homeowners & such. I've been a carpenter for 40 years. I've been using finish nailers for about 20 years. My last nail gun was a Duo-fast. I finally retired it recently, after 17+ years of service. Since the local lumber yard carries Bostich nails, I went with Bostich. I've had the gun 18 months & the piston rod has broken 3 times. Replacing it myself still cost me $35.00 a pop. Anybody who has trimmed a door or window or installed baseboard, knows it's immpossible not to hit a screw head or sheetrock nail once in a while. Well, everytime I hit one, the piston rod breaks. It breaks in the exact same spot. It appears to made of cast aluminum or something, instead of hardened or stainless steel. I like the gun & am thinking about getting somebody to manufacture a functional rod for me, since Bostich doesn't know how. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good purchase
I bought this nailer a couple weeks ago and have put it to some use in that time. Although I was disappointed, to say the least, to see that it is actually made in Taiwan rather than USA like Amazon states, it is still a good tool. Mostly made of plastic and aluminum, it is very light weight and appears to be able to hold up to the light duty use I will be putting it to. I have shot various sizes of brads, of various brands, and haven't had any jams or problems. The air I supply to the gun is around 80psi and I've shot brads into very hard, very dense hardwoods, and very soft woods as well without a problem at this pressure. I figure it's best to use the lowest pressure you can as it saves wear and tear on both nailer and compressor. I've deliberately shot nails into knots (even though this should be avoided) and they have all gone in without a problem - 5/8" to 2" brads. The tool is very easy to use and comes with a case which is nice. For the price this brad nailer is in the top end of its class in my opinion - especially since all the others are also made in Taiwan. I'm confident it will give me years of good service if used and maintained properly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Featherweight with a Heavy Punch
The Paslode 500959 is the third 18 Guage nailer I have owned, and has been the best up to this point. For several years I have used central pneumatic and porter cable 18 gauge nailers without major complaints, but thought I would give paslode products a try by purchasing one on of their least expensive models. The paslode is much lighter than the PC & CP (2.2lbs to 2.8lbs & 2.9lbs on my balance.0.6lbs - 0.7lbs doesn't sound like a big differnce, but becomes very apparent when using the tool for extended periods of time.

Although very light, I found the paslode just as powerful as its heavier brothers.I had no trouble driving 2 inch brads into some 1 inch thick oak face frames I was working with recently.

The paslode's nose geometry is also great.Even with its rubber tip attached, it will fit into tight spots a bit easier than the porter cable or the central pneumatic. This nailer (like the PC & CP)has its safety guard located behind the nose. This is actually the feature I always check first when looking at finish nailers.A few common models have their guard in front of the nose. The first finish nailer I ever used (borrowed) was set up with the guard in front, and it found it much harder to position the nose for toe nailing and other tight space tasks.

I would guess I have driven 2500-3000 nails with the paslode, and thus far it has yet to jam.I am sure it will eventually, and was happy to see that it uses a spring loaded latch (just like the PC) to remove jams. This is much easier to use than the series of hex screws that must be removed to clear jams on many finish nailers.

The depth of drive adjustment on the paslode is similiar to most nailers that offer this option. It's a thumbwheel located behind the trigger, and works well.

The exhaust port direction is also easy to adjust, although I have found that I generally just leave the port pointing towards the front surface of the nailer.

My only complaints about this nailer are the kick back and its lack of a belt hook.Of course the kick back is the drawback that comes with the paslode's lack of weight.Overall, I'll take the lightweight nailer and make sure my wrist is firm before firing.

I would actually rate this nailer at 4.5 stars.I always hesitate to use the 5 star rating(as few tools are truely perfect). I think the Paslode stands up well against any commonly available finish nailer, regardless of price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Throw away the glue, buy this tool

The hardest part was learning how to load the staples. After that it was a snap

    Reviews (9)

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a very worthwhile tool!
These fuel cells are great! They are a great value for the benefit they afford:namely portable power nailing without a compressor. The only drawback I have found to these fuel cells is that you must remove them if you will not be using your Bammer for an extended period of days/weeks.If you do not, all of the fuel will slowly seep out and your fuel cell will be empty when you next need it!

And speaking of the nail gun itself, I have owned a Porter-Cable "Bammer" for aboutthree years now and I remain well pleased with its performance.I am a do-it-yourselfer primarily using the nailer for basic home remodeling and woodworking in my garage shop.I have used mine to hang all types of moldings and casings throughout my house and friends' houses, as well as to attach moldings to furniture projects in the shop. The worst "problem" I have ever had with this nail gun is a feed/jam, which was easily cleared (it has only happened once or twice).

Bottom Line: If you read and follow the instructions, and take your time with this tool, I see no reason why you cannot have as much success with it as I have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bammer with fuel cell
Just borrowed a friends Porter Cable "Bammer" and loved it. The fuel cell concept works great, no air compressor, or battery pack. For the homeowner or do-it-yourselfer, it is great. It has been discontinued, but is still available new, and used; fuel cells are available here. We bought a "Bammer" of our own; didn't want to give the borrowed one back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied with my bammer
I have used my bammer extensively for 3 years now. Probably gone through 20 fuel cells with no problems. Only problem has been sometimes the fuel cells leak. This is solved by oiling the rubber cell seal to keep it supple. I love the freedom my bammer gives me. No lugging around an air compressor just to do a 10 minute job. No air hoses to sort out. The bammer is so versatile I have even installed wood flooring with it. Too bad Porter Cable discontinued it. All they had to do was beef it up a little design-wise. ... Read more

The Bostich I rented performed well.It jammed once every coil and I did have to set some of its nails with a hammer, but all in all a good machine. Then there was the one I purchased. This nailer must have slipped past quality control at Bostich. What a peice of doo. This unit jammed evey 10th nail and I was setting every 5th with a hammer. It took what should have been a 20 hour job and turned it into a 40 hour job. What a shame for a product whoes companies reputation for its nailer is very high.So it was at this point I went the path of the Hitachi.

I have only seen and used one other Hitachi in my travels and that was a framing gun.I was impressed with its balance, weight and perfomance. It was this experiance a few years ago and the reviews here on Amazon that led me to the coil roofing nailer NV45AB2.

All I can say is AWESOME!TOTALLY AWESOME (I am a child of the 80's)!!I took the gun out of the box, gave it a few drops of oil and went to town on a roof repair.I used 5 full coils of nails and did not have one jam nor did I have to set any of the nails manually. AWESOME!!!I can't say it enough.Had I gone this route to begin with I would have saved 20 hours on my original job and hundreds of dallars. And the price!!!Amazon has the best price in town ($385 at Home Depot and $325 at Lowes).

Do yourself a favor and buy the Hitachi.Don't let the Bostich name and their market saturation get the best of you.If you want quality and longevity out of your tools, go with Hitachi.AWESOME!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars No other nail gun is even close!
I am a roofing contractor. I have tried a few other brands of nail guns but none can come close to the quality and durability of the Hitatchi! There is nothing else to say. You can not beat this gun. It won't dissapoint you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome nailer
I researched several roofing nailers and based my decision on the reviews I read about the Hitachi. I have shingled two roofs so far and have had zero problems. The second roof I did was for a friend and he helped with his Poter Cable nailer. It was picky about the nails that were used, jamed often and had no depth setting. The Hitachi kept plugging along and never missed a beat. The depth setting was crucial for the different situations when installing shingles. After years of hammering nails and seeing other guns in action, I highly recommend the Hitachi NV45AB2. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Works flawlessly
I use this stapler almost exclusively to install plywood backs (typically 1/4" to 3/8" thick) on cabinet carcasses which are almost always 3/4" plywood. I have not had a jam or other problem in over two months of use. One nice feature is an integral 3/8" spacer on the nosepiece which allows me to very easily center the staple in 3/4" material. Nice little touch. I would recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stapler
I purchased the SLS 18 stapler to secure luan underlayment in my kitchen/breakfast room.I shot over 5000 staples without any jamming, double fires, etc.In short, the stapler worked perfectly. In addition, the soft feel of the hand grip is very comfortable, although it is already showing signs of wear. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful, light, well built and a good price
Once again, a Porter-Cable air tool is well made, powerful and works well - all at a good price.

I've used mine for about a year with great success. It doesn't jam, as one reviewer mentioned, and is very reliable.

It's small enough to get into tight spaces, and has a rotating vent on the top so you can point the exiting air in a direction away from your face or the pile of sawdust.

I have used it for making boxes, attaching weather stripping, holding sound deadening board to a wall, and for many other projects.

It was inexpensive to buy, and the staples are easily available.

I keep buying PC air tools because they work well and are priced low.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent stapler
I just laid down a 1/4" subfloor on top of old vinyl flooring in a kitchen and two baths. I shot about 35001.25" staples and only had one situation with a double staple fire. (Probably my fault.)I was shooting in the sequential mode. Since this was my first time using it my accuracy of placement was a little off in the biging but improved as I learned hot to handle it.The stapler paid for itself on this one job as all the flooring contractors wanted about $320.00 to lay down 8 sheets of luan. My cost was about $72 for the luan and $99.00 for the stapler. I am sure I will find many other uses.

3-0 out of 5 stars An OK stapler
My coworkers and I have used this stapler for a variety of professional remodeling and construction tasks. So far, it's been very handy in situations when larger nails or staples wouldn't be appropriate and when finish nails won't hold well enough. It's amazing how often we find uses for the stapler, and its small size allows it to squeeze into tight situations.

On the downside, we've found that it often misfires (no staple comes out) or fires two staples at the same time. We're usually firing 1.5 inch Porter Cable staples. As staplers go, it's a relatively cheap choice that's probably better suited for occasional rather than daily professional use.

I recently bought an Hitachi N3804AB narrow crown stapler that's a bit smaller than the Porter Cable NS150A, but also more solid and powerful. So far, my coworkers and I prefer the Hitachi over the Porter Cable because it's much more reliable (the only time it ever jammed was when I fired it directly into a steel joist hanger as a test; it has never misfired or fired more than one staple either), it will fit into smaller places because it's about an inch shorter than the Porter Cable, and can sink 1.5 inch staples fully into hardwoods and knots. It also fires smoothly and doesn't recoil. The Hitachi is made in Germany, and I've been impressed by it's durable all-metal solid feel, simple construction, and ample power.

I haven't used a Senco, but I've heard they're good as well. Before I bought the Hitachi, I was going to get a Senco SKS, but now I don't think I'll need it.The Hitachi seems to have enough power for every situation, plus it's smaller. It's a bit difficult to find a store that carries the Hitachi 3804AB, but if you look around you might be able to find a used one at an equal or lower price than the Porter Cable NS150A. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars good gun
I like this gun and would recommend it for those looking for a quality finish nailer.

    pros:
great range of size nails it can shoot.
    solid and well balanced
    has a nice case.
    non maring foot
    hasnt misfired yet.

    cons:
    heavy
    construction wasnt perfect
the safety is a bit stiff to depress.

2-0 out of 5 stars Inadequate Warranty
First, let me say that I have no complaints about the way the tool operates. It always drove the nails to the right depth, rarely jammed and was easy to clear when it jammed. Now I bought the nailer in March, it stopped working in November after fairly light use. Much to my surprise the warranty is only 90 days (Porter Cable has a 1 year warranty). So it's probably going to cost me about $50 to fix. Also upon contacting the service center, they informed me that this particular nailer has had a fair amount of repair problems. Ironically, I'm now using the Harbor Freight nailer I bought for $75 that's working like a champ, despite a bizarre leak in the middle of the body.

5-0 out of 5 stars Made in the USA
I can't recommend this nailer enough. From the fit and finish, to the power it drives nails into the hardest wood. Quality and affordability plus made in the USA. If I were to own one nailer the 16 gauge Paslode would be it. Its a nice compromise between the 18 gauge brad nailers and the 15 gauge finish nailers. I also own the Paslode 18 gauge brad nailer. If you are looking for something smaller you can't go wrong with it either. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Porter Cable’s redesigned angle nailer fires standard 15-gauge angled finish nails and brings along a list of improved features and benefits. For starters, Porter-Cable upped the nail capacity, taking nails from 1 inch to 2-1/2 inches. The streamlined body balances the ample magazine in the center of the handle rather than off to one side, offering better balance than most of its competitors. Another nice redo: the angled coupler minimizes interference with the air hose during reloading. The tool’s weight is down, too, from 6 pounds down to 4.2 pounds, thanks in part to a new Teflon cylinder and a high-impact plastic magazine. The magazine loads from the rear with a by-pass pusher you can reach from either side of the tool. A non-marring rubber nose tip (with on-tool storage) will protect your workpiece. This nailer comes with a restrictive trigger, but a bottom-actuated trigger kit is available from Porter Cable.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great nailer
I can't think of a single thing that I would change about this gun.It loads easily, it is well balanced and not too heavy, the drive depth is easy to adjust, and it has never jammed even though I drive mostly 2-2.5 inch nails.I also have a 2 inch brad nailer and that may be sufficient for most people who are only going to nail molding. But for applications that require a 2.5 inch long nail or more structural support, this nail gun is perfect.I bought mine reconditioned for about a 20 percent savings and it has worked flawlessly and looked brand new.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Tool
My company owns 3 of these and they really do have a strong shot. We had no problems with getting the nails to set in the toughest materials. Our problems came after 8 mos of use. One of the units began having frequent jams and then started misfiring on a consistent basis. I'm a little concerned because another one of our DA250B nailers has also become somewhat unpredictable and sometimes jams. I definitely recommend the DA250B over the Senco SFN 35 or any Bostich nailers. The Senco SFN 30 and 40 are OK units. My top pick however is the Dewalt Angled Finish Nailer D51275K. All of our crews like this nailer over any of the finish nailers we've used. (Bostich, Porter Cable DA250B, Senco SFN 35, 40, 30). I will say that for the infrequent user either The Porter Cable DA250B or Dewalt D51275K will perform nicely.
Note: We use these finish nailers primarily in oak but sometimes in wood species such as Brazilian Cherry, Mahogany, Rosewood, Maple and other exotic wood types.

    Editorial Review

Perfect for finish and trim work that requires getting into small spaces, this Impulse finish nailer from Paslode lets you avoid the hassle of compressor hoses and compressor noise. The nailer's small, lightweight body (just under 5 pounds) is easy to grip and, because you're not hooked up to a hose, doesn't cause as much arm fatigue as other nailers. It drives 1-1/4- to 2-1/2-inch nails and has easy-to-adjust drive depth, a probe position indicator, and an angled clip for improved maneuverability. This Paslode nailer uses a patented system that requires both a fuel cell and an included rechargeable battery. We were impressed with the gun's performance--it's consistent and provides plenty of power for most uses. This model will shoot up to 1,200 nails on a single fuel cell and up to 4,000 nails on a full battery charge. It has a convenient belt hanger, too, so you won't have to lay it on the ground or on top of a ladder, and the high-visibility orange makes it difficult to overlook. The kit includes a plastic carrying case and a lightweight charger. Please note that the nailer does not come with the fuel cell included. --Jonathon Tudor ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works flawlessly if you have a fresh fuel cell
This nailer works great. If the tool fails to fire or jams frequently (if you read other reviews you'll read about complaints of this happening, where they drepress the nose several times and then it works for a while, etc):CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THE FUEL CELL.
An expired fuel cell will make the tool malfunction randomly (drive 3-5 nails, not work, drive 3 more then not work or jam, etc). Creating huge amounts of frustration.

I have a set of Impulse nailers (framing and trim) and both worked flawlesslywhen I fist bought them. I use them for home projects, that is, it can be a year or more before I use it on another project. Last year I started a new project and the framing nailer started not firing after driving 3-5 nails. I cleaned, oiled and cleaned again with temporary results after a few nails. The "usual procedure" is to depress the nose 10 times on the trim and at some point it starts firing again. Needless to say frustrating enough to make you want to buy a corded tool.

Four days ago I started working on trim, and the finish nailer started behaving the same way. Finally mad as heck I contacted paslode, and they told me to check the expiration date on the fuel cells. Sure enough, both of them were over 18 months expired. I replaced the fuel cell with a new one from the store, and wham, works without hessitation. I offloaded about 100 nails with each nailer and not a single misfire.

I would have rated this as a 5 star, if the manual would have suggested to check the expiration date of the fuel cells. Alas, it is possible that mine didn't say this because I bought mine over two years ago, and they had recently introduced the nailers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible tool forget the comp's and drippy nail guns. . .
I have a 100 yr old house that I am usually working on.My Dad came over one day with this tool and it was amazing.I went out and bought one for myself that day.I have had no problems with it and would definitely recommend it to everyone working with molding, trim, wood paneling, etc. In all honesty however, I could see how industrial use of this tool in very dusty locations cause some problems--you would need to clean it often.
I do have the whole compressor and drippy nail gun setup available, but never end up using them--never have since I got this Passload finish nailer.Everyone I have shown it to wants one.BTW, if mine started acting up as bad as some of these others I read about here, I would go out and by another Passload finish nailer again.I don't usually write reviews, but wanted to write one after reading the negative postings here.I wonder if any of these negative posters sell air guns or compressors?

5-0 out of 5 stars my favorite tool
I'm a carpenter over 20 years, I havent had any problems with this tool. Its probably true this nail gun isnt meant for production finish work. Some people get hold of a tool and expect to just pound it into the ground until they break it, and then blame it on the tool. Bottom line is, any experienced carpenter knows, that if you respect your tools and use a little common sense, most tool can last a lifetime. So far ive put in alot of hours with the paslode, ive had an occasional jam but am very impressed with its overall performance. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Customer Service Was Awesome
I ordered one of these via UPS ground, and it showed up before the promised delivery date. The product inside the Bostitch box wasn't what was shown on the outside. It was an MIIIFS Flooring stapler inside, but marked as a cleat nailer.

I contacted customer service the same day, and was given the UPS labels for return.Additionally, a new one was over-night shipped via FedEx.It showed up before the first one was due to have been delivered.Cudos to you and your customer-focused attitude.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pneumatic or Manual
I use this pneumatic stapler on a daily basis. I've also used the pneumatic and manual nailers numerous times. I recommend the pneumatic stapler far beyond all else. It hardly ever jams and it sets the staples into the wood better than the manual. The nailer jams more and is much harder to clear, when it does. More often than anything, if the stapler jams you simply have to pick it up off the wood and tap it on the side of the resevoir. It normally will drop out any broken pieces of staple at that time. It makes life alot easier when you are working on a large floor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expensive But Worth It.
This tool makes laying a hardwood floor almost fun.If you are laying a prefinished floor, I would also recommend the optional foot (MIIIFOOT).I don't see that this is available on Amazon.I purchased mine on eBay.Also, some of the reviews on this item are for the MIIIFS, which is a floor stapler, not a nailer.According to some sources, there are less problems with the wood splitting with the nailer. There seems to be a hot market for these tools on eBay.I plan to resell mine when I am finished with it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Update on Repair Parts
Back in October 2002, I wrote a review concerning the incident I had with the part #06 blowing out on the nail gun. This is the main Butt cap on the end of the nailer. As I stated in my review, I was not sure if it was a manufacturing error or just a fluke. After extensive research and contacting many people using the nail gun, I had reached the conclusion that it was indeed a fluke. Today, March 23rd, A design engineer from Bostitch contacted me. It seems that they have been trying to reach me for several months and finally caught me at home. They had been informed of my problem with this nail gun and were extremely concerned. As per our telephone conversation, they have sold hundreds of thousands of these units and this was the first time they had heard of this incident concerning the end cap exploding from the back of the gun. As I told him, I had come to the conclusion that this was a fluke and I did not feel that it was a design flaw. I also apologized to him for not posting a follow up concerning my conclusion that it was a fluke. This I am doing now. IT WAS A FLUKE FOLKS. I have the big brother to this gun and have used it extremely hard and it is working fine with NO problems what-so-ever. I only wish I had kept the exploded gun so I could send it back to them for analysis. By the way, they are sending me a replacement nail gun free of charge. This I am happy about because I really liked that little gun. Handy, Light weight, easy to operate and I could see my nail supply in the slide loader. Most other guns don't have a view window. Anyway, Kudo's to Bostitch. Thanks for the followup. Much appreciated... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a joke!
After having all of my air tools stolen, I bought this stapler because it was the cheapest. It came with the head bolts too loose so it leaked air.I tightened them, no big deal. The worst part was the advertized easy un-jamb nose piece. The engineers in their great wisdom put the magazine higher than the Hinged nose piece. It takes a narrow screwdriver, a needle nose plier and a lot of cussing to remove a stuck staple. The spring is too weak to keep the proper pressure on the staples, only large amounts of WD40 sprayed on the magazine kept the gun operating smoothly, and paint doesn't stick on oil. I give this gun 1 star because of it's lousy anti-jambing design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast but not consistant
I needed to install a sub-floor. I went as fast as could and the stapler did a great job with no jams.It is easy to run out of staples and not know it.It needs something besides just looking thru a little hole at the staples.Uses little air, my pancake compressor kept up. I did have a hard time setting the depth of the staples. The depth varies a LOT with out touching the dial and I had to go back and pound down about 15% of the staples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable has a winner
I bought this stapler from Amazon to put up sheathing and it has performed flawlessly.Have used it for several other jobs as well where a framing nailer would split the wood but needed more holding power than a finish nailer, such as attaching lattice work.Haven't used the optional vinyl siding attachment yet, but will be in the next couple of weeks. The stapler does have a depth of drive adjustment, but comes from the factory with a setting to drive the staples as deep as possible, so don't use on a finish job out of the box.Haven't had a jam yet, but the front clearing mechanism is simple to use.Have used on sheathing and lap siding jobs and was very impressed by the difference in holding power of the stapler versus a nail.It will definitely stay in the top of my job box for easy access. ... Editorial Review

The only bad thing we can think of to say about this hard-working nailer is that you'll be hard at work too, instead of stopping to reload every few minutes. The coil holds up to 300 nails, depending on size, and loads in a jiffy. There are lots of good things to say. It's lightweight, well-balanced, ruggedly made, comfortable in hand because of the rubber grip, and has a nice toothy toenailing head to prevent slips. A clever thing Bostitch did is allow the user to shoot the exhaust in any direction. Its tidy design lets you get in where stick nailers dare not go. Another thing we like is that it's not as pricey as others in its class, and frankly, we think it's just as good if not better. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

I have finished my Roof and am going to start on the interior soon. This nail gun has worked extremely well with no problems.I am running it with a very small compressor, 125psi, and it works very well. Great gun.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Review for the Framing Nailer Novice
[Summary: Some effort to get started, but this nailer works well.]

Let's start with what you're not going to get:
    - no 1/4" NPT air plug (required)
    - no Teflon tape for the plug (required)
    - no lubricating oil (required)
    - no nails (required)
    - no air filter (recommended)
    - no case or bag (nice to have)
    - no depth of drive adjustment (nice to have)

With this, my first framing nailer, I scratched my head a few times getting the tool ready to use.It wasn't immediately obvious where the air hose connected; there's a recessed red plastic cap at the end of the handle, and an arrow pointing to it labeled "OIL".Pry this cap out with your fingernails, buy a 1/4" male NPT plug (to fit your air hose connector) and some Teflon tape, and screw the plug into the end of the nailer.

The N80CB comes equipped with a black contact trip trigger.A contact trigger will fire every time the safety shoe around the business end of the tool is depressed as long as the trigger is down. The loaded nailer is over 10 pounds so its weight tends to drop it down onto the nailing surface right after the recoil bumps it up -- frequently leading to two or three nails driven.I decided I'd prefer the silver-gray sequential trip trigger, included in a plastic bag.You need a hammer and the included punch to drive out the trigger pivot pin, and to drive the pin back when you install the other trigger. The trigger moves back with no pressure when installed; you'll feel very slight trigger resistance, however, when the safety shoe is depressed.

The nail loading procedure is made needlessly mysterious by the tiny drawings (.8 square inches each) illustrating the first four steps of the operation. If a normal picture is worth a thousand words, these are worth maybe 42.So I'll add a few more to help.

Position the tool with the firing end at the lower left, with the "!WARNING:" label on the cyclindrical nail can oriented for reading. The loading latch is midway between this label and the business (firing) axis of the tool. There's a flat fingertip-sized metal shelf at the top of the latch.Press this down (that is, in the direction the nails fire) and swing the loading door open toward you and to the left.

Grab the plastic part that has the "!WARNING:" label, and swing the top cover of the nail can open toward you and to the right.

There's a buckle clamp holding the bottom of the nail can in place.Using your right hand reach below the hinge of the top cover and follow the curve of the lower can around toward its far side.Your index finger will be on the buckle latch lever.Pull the lever toward you until the latch springs open, then move the near part of the buckle clamp off the ridge at the right side of the lower can.Get a couple of fingers behind this clamping ridge and pull toward you.The bottom section of the can will pop out of the grooves it's nested into on the fixed side of the can.

Reinsert the bottom section of the can so that the far side rectangular cutout ("window") underlines the correct nail length embossed in the black plastic of the fixed side of the can.Mark this position some way other than by using the measurement cutout (I used a felt-tip pen until I got used to the sizes) as you won't be able to see the markings when the can is full of nails.Remove the can again and fill it with nails. With the B & C Eagle nails at 3-1/4" I had to unwind the full 200 nail coil and rewind it to fit smoothly around the spindle.(If you have to re-coil your nails make sure the 15 degree slant puts the point forward of the head as the nail coil exits the can.)Reinsert the can at the appropriate position and reattach the buckle clamp.

Pull enough of the coil from the can to get the lead nail into the business axis of the gun, and the nail immediately behind it between the teeth of the feed pawl.Make sure the nail heads are all in the feed groove provided for them.Swing the top cover of the nail can closed from the right, and the loading door closed from the left.Push firmly until the door locks into place.

With your new 1/4" NPT plug in place on the nailer, attach it to your air hose's quick connector. Now you're ready to get to work!

How does the N80CB work?Very well! After using my gentle finish nailer I admit I was surprised to see sparks fly each time one of the heavy framing nails was hammered home.My only difficulty: finding a local source of nails in Silicon Valley.Luckily the B & C Eagle nails available from Amazon worked like a champ (after recoiling). No jams; no problems at all.

The N80CB does not come with a depth of drive adjustment. There's a fairly expensive add-on unit you can buy.You can also get an approximation of drive depth adjustment by fiddling with the air pressure within the 70-100 PSI range.Based on only framing with 2-1/2" and 3-1/4" nails, you should set the pressure based on the nail size (100 PSI for the bigger nails) and leave it alone.

Finally, I found the packaging pretty meager. This is a bulky, heavy tool, and the packaging is just a box containing a cardboard sheet with cutouts designed to cradle the nailer. My unit ended up ripping the cardboard cutout sheet as its weight was thrown about by the UPS shippers.Luckily the tool itself was rugged enough to survive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Coil Framing Nailer!
I recently purchased this Bostitch coil framing nailer. It is the best nailer i have ever used. It has very little recoil, but yet a great amount of power. Some people are sceptical on buying the coil nailers because of weight issues and jamming issues, but i have had NO jams and the weight is about the same as a loaded stick nailer, even when the coil nailer has a full coil of nails. I have a Bostitch stick framing nailer also, which i am very pleased with as well. I also own an assortment of various types of finish nailers also made by Bostitch. I am very pleased with all of them. For many reasons especially the ease of using Bostitch fastners because every store I visit has bostitch nails. Overall i am extremely pleased with this coil framing nailer, and any Bostitch product for that matter. I would strongly recomend it to anyone looking for a good nailer. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

DeWalt asked professional framers what they wanted in a nailer, and the result is this workhorse. It's light and comfortable in yourhand but packs the power to drive up to 3-1/2-inch nails, and becauseit's only about a foot tall, it lends itself beautifully to working intight spaces. Jams clear in a jiffy thanks to a hassle-freequick-release mechanism, and the dry fire lockout keeps the tool fromfiring when your magazine is almost empty, preventing internal damage. The bump-action trigger comes installed, but you'll receive thesequential action trigger, too. The best innovation of all is thetool-free depth adjustment--no more grappling with wrenches and messingwith air pressure. Action is smooth, the injection-molded rubber gripfeels strong and sure, and a reversible belt/rafter hook will keep itright where you need it. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect operation
I purchased this nailer a couple of years ago because of the name.I own several other DeWalt tools and have always been very happy with them. This nailer has yet to let me down.I have noticed that the selection of full head nails at the local building supply warehouse is less than the clipped head nails. However Amazon seems to carry all I could ever want, so this has not been a problem.
The only times the gun has jammed on me has been operator error.I had left a single nail in the magazine when adding a new stick of nails. The single nail slipped out of place and jammed. However it takes under a minute to remove the magazine, clear the jam, reassemble and reload.
The safety by the trigger is the gun's only flaw.I have small hands and so do not mind it being so small, but someone with larger hands, especially wearing gloves may not be able to turn it.It also doesn't seem very robust. However I rarely use it, I prefer to disconnect the air hose as then I can be certain it will not fire.
When I use 3 1/4" nails, I do find if the nail goes into a knot, I sometimes need to finish it off with a hammer.Other than that, I've not had a problem with the power of the gun

2-0 out of 5 stars 51845 My thoughts
I read the previous reviews and I got the impressoin that this nailer "could" do the job. Well I was wrong, this nailer went head to head with a bostitch N88ww nailer and I was crushed. The dewalt lacked the power to countersink 3 1/2 nails into some old pine. The best I could do is get a bearly flush head about 60 percent of the time. I tried adjusting everything I could to get the perfomance I expected from a dewalt tool. This nailer lasted about 30 minutes on site before it was back in the box ready to get shipped back.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Right Ammo!
I have owned and used this fine air nailer for about 6 months, and it has functioned flawlessly so long as I behaved. If, as some of the other reviewers have claimed, you are having problems with double firing or jamming, take a good look at the ammo you are loading into your gun. My gun went bonkers with double firing for about 6 sticks of nails and then a hardcore jam of two 3.5" nails. The jam was so intense; it galled and peened the nails as one. After close inspection, it was discovered that the malfunction was caused by operator error. The gun was loaded with CLIPPED HEAD ammo instead of the required FULL ROUND HEAD ammo. After hand filing the rough shards of tainted metal from the firing chamber and a good cleaning, all systems were good to go.

Bottom line: this nail gun is designed and built with first class components. As a matter of fact the gun is such a fine work of art that I believe that if it had existed in the year 33 A.D. the vile, debauchery of a mob would have used it to pin Jesus to the cross during the Passion of the Christ.
