Editorial Review

If you've never used a pull-saw, you're probably wondering if everything you've heard about them is true. It is, especially when you're talking about this handsaw from Shark. The ancient Japanese concept of pulling to cut gives you maximum results from minimum effort. Everything about this Shark is top-notch: the shape of the teeth, thickness, balance and the coordinated angle of the teeth, blade, handle, and blade replacement system. Because these blades cut on the pull rather than the push, the blades can be thinner, lighter and more flexible than regular saw blades, and flexibility means flush cutting. The cut is uniformly accurate, clean and easy to start, and you're left with a super-thin kerf. The blade is nice and wide, so you can fearlessly guide it with just a thumb. Something about the angle of the teeth seems to clear debris better than a standard saw, too. Add to this awesome saw the pry bar that comes with it, and you cannot beat this set. We love the bar for its ultra-sharp chiseled edge and the curve that gets you into the tightest spots. It's certainly the thinnest flat bar we've seen, great for prying off trim and molding with virtually no damage to the surrounding wall or the molding itself. We can imagine putting this to good use as a paint scraper, staple and nail puller, carpet remover, tile remover… the list goes on and on. We are impressed.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good deal
This combo is one of the best and most useful tool purchases I have ever made.Somthing you might not realize you're missing until you have it and are astonished at how often you use it.

The prybar is a bit small, but tough and very useful nonetheless.I have used it repeatedly to pry moldings and window casing loose. It has taken a beating and never let me down.

The saw is surprisingly sharp (I rarely use the rip side of the blade, the fine-cut side takes care of almost any task) and still feels like new on the tip of my thumb after many uses.

The only draw back I can think of with this saw is that it doesn't come with some kind of sheath/guard instead of the two plastic rails which serve as blade guards.A small detail, but one I would recommend the company consider.

All-in-all, a great addition to anyone's tool kit.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Number one cost per use tool you will own.
The saw is very accurate. With a single thumb edge on the center of the blade to keep it straight up, you can cut a perfect angle with this saw. Blade removal replacement makes it even more desireable. These are Japanese saws. The Shark company products are available in a lot of stores, so it is not a come and go product.
The thing I am really excited about is the small pry bar. I was doing a few odd jobs around the house. I removed some flaking plaster in the ceiling of one room, using the large flat although curved (fortunately) chiseling end. It did a superb job. Then I went into the kitchen and needed to replace the weatherstripping on the kitchen door. The flat part of the chisel made quick work of removing the old weatherstrip. Then the stubborn brad nails came right out using the other end with the pry-nail removal combination.
The unique thing about this tool, is that it is not anywhere near as large as the Stanley pry bar we all, or most of us use. Yet it is large enough to do the job. Makes it comfortable to keep in a belt pouch. It truly is something you will use again and again.
The price is an advantage also, if you consider the price of the individual pieces, it is quite a saving to buy them in this combo pack.
It is especially useful for someone who does trim work, but is far to useful in any number of ways, so as to recommend it too highly to any one service. Buy it, you won't be sorry. It will become one of you top favorite tools. Hope this was helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shark in the water!!
The Shark Corp Prybar and Nail Puller is the best tool for the job if you have to remove delicate paneling, baseboard, casing, and other trim. While the standard toolbox prybar (Stanley Wonder Bar) is a great tool it just doesn't have enough finese to pry-up delicate trim without major damage to trim and sheetrock.

The cat's paw nail puller on the end of the Shark Corp Prybar attacks nails on the stim and not the head so pulling small headless nails, brad nails, and all types of finish nails becomes and easy job.Additionally, the nail puller doubles as a light duty tack hammer for tapping out finish nails from removed trim.

In sum, the Shark Corp Prybar is a durable, usefull, attractive and wellmade tool.I'll have to keep an eye on this tool so it doesn't swim away on the jobsite. While Shark Corp offers an 8'' model, I'd recommend that you purchase the 10'' model because the 8'' model just doesn't have as much leverage.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shark is Sharp!
This is a great compliment to the smaller model; the extra length works better on glue coat and ring shank nails that are well set.The flat end will get under trim almost as easily as a putty knife. The cat's paw nail puller is very sharp, both the tips and the slot, so it will grip headless nails with just a tap on the heel. The one caution: when using the cat's paw end, wear a leather glove to protect the palm of your hand from the sharp corners of the wide blade when yanking on it.

I also use it to do some scraping and cleaning out inside corners. The heel of the cat's paw also can be used as a tack hammer. You will find more uses for this tool everytime you go to work. The quality of the forging and finish is great.Add one to your tool box today!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best small prybar
My only complaint is that I misplace mine too often!I do recommend the 10" over the 8", the extra leverage is appreciated.Excellent, tough steel that can be pounded and yet resharpened. In a tight spot, I even use the Shark like a chisel. With a bit of finesse, it will also pull headless finish nails. For more physical work, the Estwing is a similarly nice tool. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The Shark is great, but Red Devil is Better
I take molding and casing apart everyday. While I use the Shark all the time, I reach for Red Devil's Scrape'n Pry Bar #4050 more. Combine the Shark with the Red Devil tool and a 3" flexible scraper (to open up a small gap)and you will be unstoppable!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just buy one
Just buy one. This thing is endlessly useful. One surprising thing is how strong the thin end is; you would really have to work at it to bend or otherwise damage it. I can't think of any other tool that is that thin and that strong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing how useful this is
Used it to remove a bunch of moulding w/o destroying the moulding like I would have using a regular prybar.Used it to remove finish nails that were buried too deep to get a hammer claw to pull them.Used it to pull out nails that were missing heads.Hey, wait a minute! This is exactly what the product description says it does.Yep, works as advertised.Amazing :-)

Wish I had known they made 10" and 11" inch models (the ... page for this item doesn't crosslink those other models). There were a few times when I wish I had more leverage and the 10" model is only 2 bucks more. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Bar
I already owned one and used it in some very tough framing applications for over a year.I bought this as a backup. This light tool competes with the bigger pry bars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it!
I always carry one of these in my toolbags.I'm now on my third one because of thievery and forgetfulness. This is one of the handiest tools I've ever owned.Handier than a pocket on a shirt.

The even smaller ones are also quite handy, but Stanley doesn't make those!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Looks like a Toy, Works like a Mule
I found one of these in a box of junk I bought at an auction.I didn't think much of it until I started to use it.I now would be lost without it.It is the BEST prybar for delicate tasks, like removing window anddoor molding. It is also great in tight spaces, like inside cabinets.Ifind a new use for it almost everytime I start a project - and it's cheap! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worlds Best Crowbar
Being a manufacture and errector of timber frame building in the United Kingdom The SharkGrip Crowbar is the best i have used in the last 20 years. My current model is the 24inch version which is used daily to extract 4 inch nails from the timber frame buildings we are errecting. The pointed ends allow the bar to be driven into the timber around the nail head and a sharp pull on the lever and the nail is out. In do in this little damage is done to the timber and this can be undertaken in the tightest of corners. This is something that most other crowbars fail to do because of their shape and geometry.
The other use is as a lever the sharp flat end is ideal for slipping under panels to lift them.
I hope that if you purchase a bar you are as happy as my joiners are when the nick mine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Big Bad Shark Corp 21-2036 14-1/8" Nail Puller
This is the biggest Shark Corp Nail puller. I bought several more of the Shark Corp Prybar products including this model #21-2225, 10" length one based on a combo set (Shark Corp 58-9018 Fine Cut Saw and 8" Prybar Combo Pack) I purchased 6 months ago. Both the saw and pry bar are working fine.

Here is what I wrote about the 8 Inch Pry Bar in my review:

"The prybar is also a tool deserving high marks.
This is NOT a tool for power demolition, but it is well made tool for fine work - trim and nail pulling. This fits perfectly in a tool belt or Bucket Boss. It's so nice to introduce my son to excellent general purpose woodworking tools. And at a reasonable price!"
Each size has it's use, there was a lot of thought as to dimension and ergonomics for each pry bar. A simple, well made tool that makes a job easier! The difference between this bad boy is that it makes easy for removing many larger nails than it's little brother.
FINALLY & MOST IMPORTANTLY, USE & TEACH proper safety for ALL tools!

I'm VERY happy with my purchase of the Shark Corp 21-2036 14-1/8" Nail Puller!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not for the weak
I purchased this tool and was surprised it was made in a town across the river from where I grew up.

But I digress.

Upon recieveing this tool I was amazed at the weight. This is not a tool for light duty work. If you need a top quality demolition hand tool and find yourself bending crowbars, or find that they never are angled correctly, then get this item.

This tool should last a lifetime.

I purcahsed the 48" variety.

One word about this tool"DESTRUCTION"....smash things..rip things..pry things..demo anything!!!!This is a serious tool!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why EVERY Remodeler needs one of these!
I purchased this wrecking bar several years ago.I have nothing but glowing comments for this item.As you tear apart decking from the top deck, you have two angles with varying torque that you can put into the board removal. If you are close to the house you can use one side, and out in the open, you have plenty of torque for easy board lift up and removal.Come on guys, watch that back.I am purchasing my second one since my help misplaced the other one.I have learned to work smarter as I get older; you should too. This is not the best tool for pulling nails, but there are better and smaller tools for that function.Happy demo fellas. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not son-in-law resistant
The finish on the head is smooth enough to work on smoth wood without marking the wood. I had only used it lightly and was fairly satisfied except the nail pulling slots were not suitable for anything smaller than 16d. I loaned it to my son-in-law who broke the weld between the shaft and head tearing out the floor of a bathroom. I don't know what he did to it he claims "nothing".

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
This bar looks like it would be a good buy if you are going to tear down a building or even a wall.Save your money my friend. It only looks good. It is clumsly as hell to get on an old nail that sticks up about 1/2 inch. The metal used in its construction is so soft that after pulling about a dozen nails the V bar was peeled back so much it won't grasp the head on the nail anymore. It looks mean and strong but it is heavy, clumsly and soft. Save your money and buy an old gooseneck model made of real steel. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic nail puller and sheet lifter
I bought this recently to replace a regular flat bar that I had banged the end off of. The "wonder" of this bar comes in the unique bend mid-way through the handle, which enables the wonder bar to act like a lever and fulcrum together. This serves several purposes, and you will wonder how you ever got by without it. Got a stubborn nail that won't come out even with a big tug with a framing hammer? Simply hook the nail head on the wonder bar and step on the other end and either the nail will come out or you'll rip the head off. Need to lift a panel or sheet up a fraction of an inch or more? Just insert one end under the sheet and step on the other to raise it to the desired height...or flip the wonder bar over and the angle of the bar will make it work like a wedge to raise the panel as high as you insert the wedge. The only disadvantage to the "wonder" shape is that it tends to vibrate if you smack one end while trying to dig out a nail with the other...but pry bars were never meant to do this anyway (that's how I banged the end off my previous ply bar)-- use a claw hammer or regular nail puller for these tasks and your wonder bar for everthing else. I don't trust Stanley with anything with moving parts (I'm no fan of their tape measures) but the wonder bar is a great tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tear it up!
I bought this tool because I was going to need both a pry bar and a wallboard lifter for the remodeling project I was starting. This product really is a wonder.I wonder how I could have completed the tear down part of my project without it.The unusual shape allowed me to pull wallboard down and nails out one handed with out ever needing an extra pry block. This was great when I was 8 feet up on a ladder.I also used it to remove both crown and base molding.I have not used it as a wallboard lifter yet.But if it as good at helping me build the walls as it was at helping me tear them down, it deserves it's name. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pulled out hardedened cut nails!
I had 18 Hardened Masonry Cut Nails 16D, which were holding a 2x4" framing onto my garage's concrete floor. The nail holes into the concrete were predrilled, then the nails were hammered to a depth of 3/4" to 1" into the concrete. The framing was the foundation for a 3/4" plywood, emergency, hurricane garage enclosure (I live in Florida), that went through three hurricanes in 2004. Now I had to remove it, and wanted to save the framing intact. HOWEVER, I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO EXTRACT THE HARDENED CUT NAILS.

I used a Stanley 36" FatMax Wrecking Bar on one nail, and the first nail chewed up the edge of the claw, and the bar didn't even budge the nail. Apparently, the FatMax is not hardened/forged/alloy to handle hardened masonry cut nails. I had hammers that had also dented. However, I had a 30 year old all steel Estwing hammer that did not dent, so, I thought I had hope for a nail puller that would not break.

I wrote to Estwing, asking them for a recommendation for a bar of their manufacture that could do the job, and they replied as follows:
"Estwing has nothing that would give different results in terms of hardness to remove your cement nails. The Rockwell hardness readings on the cement nails are greater than anything we have to deal with them. We would think you need to cut the nails out with a carbide saw, etc. or approach the problem from a different way. I am sorry we could not be more help to you."

I contacted Fulton Corporation, the manufacturer of Fulton TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar, with the same question, and they responded more positively, as follows:
"I don't know what will happen, for certain, if you try to pull out your nails with our Wrecker Bar. I will tell you this, however. The only claim we have ever denied was in the case of a user who admitted the bar broke when he put a 10" long "persuader pipe" on the end of it and tried to move an extremely heavy object. If you buy one of our 48" Wrecker bars and use it for your nails, without additional "persuasion" attachments and you are unhappy with its condition when you are done (i.e. the nail claw chips), take it back to your dealer and have him replace it for you."

That said, I bought the TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar (because I had restricted room to work, and the 48" might be too long).

THE RESULTS:
I received the TW36WB today from Amazon.com, and I put it into action immediately, the results:

The nail claw, on the greater angled side of rocker head, pulled out the cut nails with some effort, however, much less effort than the less angled side (Fuller's ad says "Rocker head for more power" and great leverage". I say, that's true!). I have to say that all things considered, it worked great on the more angled side (more leveraged side), however, I was only able to reach five of the 18 nails that I needed to extract with that more leveraged side. Of the remaining 13 nails, which I had to pull out with the less angled side, about nine came out with some more effort. The other four, were HELL to pull out, mainly because by then the claw had bent some at the point of contact with the nails. It became difficult to get a good hold onto the cut nails from there on (for the last four nails), since cut nails barely have much of a head to grab anyway. There wasn't much room to hammer the cut nails back and forth to help lessen their hold, however, that's what I had to do to be able to finish the job with the wrecker bar, since there was not as good claw left by then.

BOTTOM LINE: It did the job, but the claws were damaged in the process. The claws won't work anymore for the job I used them (cut nails with little head), however, the claws will work fine with common wire nails. I think that the damage to the wrecker bar claws would have been negligible, had I had more room to use only the more leveraged side.

A TOUGH JOB! I don't think there's another bar that could have done the job as well as Fulton TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar, mainly because of the greater leverage of the rocker head, the dual claws, the alloy and girth of the steel, and it's Made in the USA (I don't buy products made in China). The bar saved me from a lot of labor!

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS:
The hardened cut nails were only embedded a little under one inch, amazing the hold they have! Hardened nails are harder than the claws (and they'll make the forged steel of the claws look like soft metal. The Fulton TW36WB claws tackled the job about as well as it's going to get.), so, DON'T USE HARDENED CUT NAILS IF YOU INTEND TO EXTRACT THEM!!!!!!
