Remember how cool we all thought that first Dremel was? We're reliving the feeling with this one: lighter, faster, smarter, better, and stronger. The main improvement over the last generation is the battery source: lithium-ion. There are so many reasons to applaud. Lithium holds its charge up to six times longer in storage than nickel-cadmium batteries, so it's ready when you are. Remember the disappointment when you were ready and your battery was low? That won't happen with this one. It's got a battery fuel gauge that tells you how much life is left before a recharge, so you won't be caught without your Dremel, and if you choose to keep it on its charger, you won't cause memory and shorten the charge capacity. It's small, it's light, it's comfortable and maneuverable; it's everything the corded models are, but without the cord. We love it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Cord or cordless?
I bought the Dremel 10.8v rotary cordless drill for the purpose of removing tile grout. At first it worked well. But, the battery only lasted 45 minutes. Then the problems started. The 1/16 inch grout bits only lasted a few minutes then broke. I had better luck when I was removing 1/8 inch grout because the 1/8 inch bit lasted for hours before it started getting dull. Since the grout bits are not well made, I found another brand that cuts much better, much cheaper in price, and last longer.

I HAD to get the grout removed and this was the only tool I found that would do that. But, after a few days the Dremel broke. I still had grout to take care of, so I bought a corded Dremel to continue the work while the cordless was sent in for repairs. To the credit of Dremel, the cordless was promptly repaired and returned along with a free accessory for my trouble. I started using the cordless again and it stopped working again. This time it just stayed on fast speed. So, off it went to the post office again to send in this thing for repair. It is repaired again, but this time I am using the corded Dremel.

I also tried the tool on other jobs such as removing paint from a window frame, sanding a small section of wood, drilling a pilot hole for a screw, and cutting off a screw that I could not remove. What I found was that the Dremel did a fair job if you have a steady hand. However, some of the accessories either break easily or grind down quickly. And these accessories are not cheap. You can easily spend 3 times the price in bits and accessories than what you pay for the tool itself.

The bottom line is, this thing is mostly good for small work such as crafts. But, can also come in handy when a large drill or sander just will not fit. Just stay away from the cordless.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
This dremel is the best cordless rotary tool out there it has plenty of power with power to spare there just isn't enough room for me to say how good it is.Plus the customer support is just amazing they care about the customer and they are willing to help above and beyond.

5-0 out of 5 stars State of the Art in cordless Dremel tools
I have used Dremel tools for over 30 years and have recently found that cordless tools of any brand add another dimension to a tools user friendliness. I tried a number of other Dremel like tools that were cordless, but none could compare to this tool. If you need a rotary tool like this one, spend you money on this one. You will be glad you did. ... Read more

While there are a number of rotary tools on the market made by a host of different manufacturers, the Dremel Moto Tool is the one they all strive to copy. Dremel's MultiPro variable-speed model is great for a huge range of projects, from home improvement tasks to hobbies and crafting. It has a continuously adjustable speed range from 5,000 to 35,000 rpm, which allows the user to effectively work with materials as soft as balsa wood and as hard as ceramics. The flexible shaft that comes with this model is great for working in tight spots many rotary tools can't touch. The kit also comes with an assortment of accessories and a handy carrying case. Others may copy it, but Dremel has been making rotary tools so long they've come close to perfecting the idea. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my dremel
After more than 10 years of heavy use (maybe abuse) my Dremel 395
finally died last night.I can't get a new one fast enough, but I thought I might take the chance get a newer model.Alot could have changed in ten years, but after reading the reviews of the newer 395D and 400 models it sounds they would never stand up to the way I use my Dremel. So I think I'll be getting another trusty 395.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool & Value
Wanted one of these since was a kid. Finally (at 40) bought one and cant figure how I used to do projects without one.Anyone considering the kit without the flex shaft should reconsider. The flex shaft makes this the most versatile tool I own.

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY VERSITILE....
I recieved this tool as a christmas gift in 2003. I make decorative boxes of all types and thought it would be handy for sanding tight radius, especially inside the box cavity. It does this duty extremely well, I am able to effectively remove all saw marks in those real tight area's and achieve a nicer finished product. What did surprise me was how many other task's I can use this little powerhouse for. I find myself using it for carving contours on the outside of the boxes a lot, with the variable speed you can maintain control easily, following the grain pattern, no matter how wild it may be. Then using one of the fine pointed stones, I can undercut the contour and polish it out, leaving a real head scratcher of a detail not usually found in decorative boxes. I use it to end cut drawer handles that are too small to chop with a saw, and to trim "keys" on mitered corners. Every time I am trying to think of a way to accomplish some wild (dumb?) way to accomplish something with wood I end up reaching for the dremel. With the flexi shaft, vari speed and "pencil" end it is so easy to control, that you can let your imagination get the best of you and still accomplish the finish you are looking for. Every one know's the common capabilities of this little tool, cutting, carving, sanding, grinding, etc, etc, but there are more.
I have had and used this tool for a year now and have had zero problems with it. I too wish I could find some finer sanding tubes, up to 220 would be nice, but I have made some using a worn out tube, 220 paper and super glue. Not a glamorous looking device but it works. When using the stones to polish wood they do clog up, just touch them to a rubber sanding wheel cleaner and they clean right up. I made blocks to hold all the differant attachments, and the case sits in one of the bins under my worktable. I am very happy with this tool and would recommend it to anyone for light, tight work. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

If you’re reading this, you’re probably already a Dremel owner, and we don’t have to tell you how incredibly versatile this little tool is. Adding the drill press attachment will expand your Dremel capabilities, turning it into a drill press as well as a great stationary sanding tool. We wouldn’t use this in place of a regular drill press, mind you, but it has its own range of uses that a benchtop or floor model isn’t suited for. Precise micro holes are a cinch with the Dremel in this stand; it’s smooth-riding and sturdy, and you Dremel users know how well it drives the smallest bits, the kind a regular drill press would swallow up. We like that you can mount the Dremel horizontally as well, so your Dremel becomes a mini stationary sander—just bring your workpiece to it. We think there are parts, like the base, that could be beefier, but for the price, we like it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars useful but not for fine work
I bought this as a cheap alternative to a drill press (I already have a Dremel). It is useful for most rough work, but cannot be used for fine work since the column is an aluminium tube and the tool holder is plastic - there is too much yield in the structure.By fine I mean, if you need to drill a hole within less than 1/32 inch of a marked location.
The press also has a little (mysterious) sideways play that I could not get rid of by any amount of tightening.

1-0 out of 5 stars Low End JUNK
I purchased one of these to make my dremel into a drill press for wood - mostly softwood and it has been a terrible experience. The collars that attach the tool do not allow for perfect square alignment and the dremel many times cant seat a bit so there is no wobble. I was disappointed with this tool. I found that MicroMark makes a small hobby drill press (as well as other great tools) that is sturdy, reliable and excellent. It maycost more then the dremel but you do get what you pay for.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for PCB drilling
I bought this attachment for drilling 0.7mm holes on printed circuit boards. It had a little side-play, but rotating the height guide eliminated the problem. I use it with a Black & Decker RTX (yes, it works if you replace the top holding screw with a longer one and force the holding ring a little bit) and the Dremel multi-chuck for holding such small drill bits, and it works great.

I couldn't imagine using a standard 10" drill press with a 1/2" chuck along with 0.7mm (less than 1/32") drill bits, and the drill press adapters for conventional hand drills had WAY too much play. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Hate to burst the Dremel bubble..
    Two problems..

Although I rarely use mine (maybe once every two months), sometime during the first year I started having to fight my charger so it would charge the tool.

Secondly, The variable switch stopped working. So now I have only one speed..High.

I plan on shipping it back to get it fixed, but since I rarely use it, it hasn't been a top priority..

When you pay for a expensive tool, you expect it to be dependable and not stop working right in a few months when you're not using it.

I guess I should have stuck with Lowes's house brand...

    Editorial Review

Black & Decker has taken five popular home workshop tools and put them together into one compact, cordless unit in the Black & Decker 14.4-volt cordless multi-tool kit. The 14.4-volt model offers five interchangeable, locking heads that provide drill/driver, circular saw, jig saw, router and sander/polisher features. While not as powerful or feature-laden as most stand-alones, the multi-tool provides an excellent starting point or addition to a home enthusiast's arsenal. The drill head operates at variable speeds of 0-700 rpm. A 24-position clutch provides up to 115 in./lbs. of torque. And a 3/8-inch keyless chuck makes bit changes easy. The 3-3/8 inch circular saw features a 20-tooth carbide tipped blade and operates at 0-1,100 rpm. A spindle lock allows quick blade changes, while a thin kerf minimizes waste. The jigsaw features Black & Decker's exclusive, tool-free QuickClamp blade change system. A see-through bezel offers a cleaner view of the cut line, while a blade support roller keeps the blade straight for an accurate finish. The router features a 1/4-inch collet and spindle lock. Good visibility, micro-depth adjustments and an operating speed of 0-8,000 rpm make it well-suited for small, high-speed project work. The sander/polisher is also versatile. It reaches into tight spaces, accepts Mouse attachments, and spins at 0-8,000 opm.--Carl Thress ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the occasional fixes around the house
    LIKES
    1) Great price. This use to be 99$ back then.
    2) Multi tool. 5 tools in one! Thats like 20$ each tool.
    3) Comes with spare battery and a nice bag.

    DISLIKES
    1) Not powerful enough for the router, circ saw
    2) Circ Saw doesnt cut really deep
    3) Router is really miniature
    4) Batteries die fast w/ the router, circ saw
    5) A little on the heavy side

1-0 out of 5 stars Low power? No power!
Well, the jigsaw ain't great, but at leaset it works-just don't try to use it one handed. The ridiculous placement of the "safe start" button means you have to have both hands on the tool to use it. High vibration means jagged cuts despite a finishing blade. And no top control means "swervy" lines. Fine for most, but it bothered me. The sander drained BOTH batteries within minutes. It worked well for those minutes, though. And don't get me started on the drill! No power whatsoever. My wifes 9.6v Bosch out-drilled/out-drove this P.O.S. So, a $200 jigsaw that isn't very good. Yowza. I think I'll try Ryobi. I've heard good things.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy for the House
This kit is excellent for the house. I've used it many times for all sorts of stuff. I'm glad it doesn't take up too much space; you don't have to lug a different tool to a project...they are all right there. If you plan to use it for serious woodworking, I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too great in that the battery will drain somewhat quickly when using it as a jigsaw(but then again it comes with two batteries.) For a handy and sufficiently powerful household tool package, this is both effective and even fun. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Try using the right bit !!!!
I'm sure the guy with the plaster wall was using the wrong bit. If your cutting plaster you need to use the carbide bit. dahhh... I own a home theater design & installation company. When we switched to Rotozips from hand saws we saved 1-2 hours a day on installations. Its GREAT for everything from drywall to cutting out cabinet backs to fit larger TVs. As we speak I'm working in my own house which has plaster walls and I'm using it for everything from speakers to lighting. Tip: Always use layout lines to cut on. Don't try to "wing it" with no lines.
As far as noise... only an {fool} would use any power tool with out hearing protection. Why do you think they sell earplugs? I checked the noise level with a sound lever meter and my shop vac makes more noise.
I consider it one of the most valuable tools on my truck after my cordless drill.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best
I own my own drywall company.I have purchased similar tools from Dewalt, Ryobi, Dremel because I run two hanging crews and not only need another tool cut out tool for my other crew, but also thought they may be an upgrade.I have to say that none of the other tools were nearly as durable. They all had good attributes to them but all have quit working and my original Rotozip has just kept chugging along.I would recomend this product to anyone who is going to really work their cut out tool.I use mine almost every day and it still cuts clean.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for removing old tile
I had some exceedingly nasty tile to remove - the grout was more like stucco.A fair amount of research led me to the Grout Grabber.

After struggling with a Grout Grabber for a few hours and getting a moderate amount of work done, a buddy recommended a Rotozip, and loaned me his.A quick trip to the hardware store for a diamond blade and I was in business. The Rotozip did the trick. It was fast, went through the grout like my circular saw goes through wood. It also went through the chicken wire that was holding the mortar in place, throwing off some lovely (but harmless) sparks.

Note that I didn't use the carbide grout bit, which I tried and found to be useless.I used a circular diamond blade intended for tile, cement and so forth. Note as well that this blade isn't recommended for the speed of the cheaper Rotozip, but that's what I had and it worked.

Anyway, the combination of the Rotozip RTM01 with RotoZip ZM101 and the Dry Diamond blade worked like a dream. There is anotherRotozip with adjustable speed that should work as well and perhaps be safer. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars These once came standard with the flex shaft kit
I guess Emerson Electric figured they could make a few more pence selling these as accessories. By using these chucks you will relieve yourself of the trivial task of changing collets, but you will lose the precision and balance of collets in the bargain. These chucks are low-grade stuff indeed; they cause considerable runout and vibration in addition to the obvious clumsiness of their larger size.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but not 100%
While I do like the conevience of the chuck, it does not rotate 100% true. This causes a very slight wobble at the tip of any drill bit. I have tried 2 different chucks, but both yield the same results.I only use the chuck when absolute precision isn't required.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome time-saver, but not for use with other attachments
I rarely use the standard collet that comes with the tool any more, after buying this item. No more looking for a wrench (which I invariably loose), etc. Beware, though: I took for granted that it would be compatible with my chainsaw charpening attachment. It is not. If you use other attachments, don't expect to be able to use this at the same time. If you don't use other attachments...well...go on to the next review. Well worth the buy, in my opinion ... In recent years, rotary cutout tools have soared in popularity, due mainly to a series of television infomercials promoting one brand. Though it doesn't receive the TV airplay of its main competitor, this DeWalt model uses a durable 5 amp motor--the most powerful motor yet in a cutout tool--making it a great tool for professional drywallers, electricians, and carpenters. To help battle dust infiltration, the tool features a sealed motor and switch, a must for any serious drywall tool. It also sports a quick-and-easy, tool-free bit-changing system and comes with both 1/8 and 1/4 inch collets. We really like the bump-off switch for quick tool shutdown and the simple and effective tool-free depth adjustments. Like other rotary cutout tools, this one uses spiral cutting bits, which work equally well plunging into a cut as they do laterally. In our test we found the DeWalt to be smooth running with low vibration. We had no problem plunging and cutting through 1-1/2 inches of solid birch, whizzing through drywall, and tearing through tile. In fact, this tool has more power than you'd expect from something of its size, and if you aren't paying attention, it can get away from you--an easier to live with problem than lack of power. Some extraordinary claims have been made about rotary cutout tools, and while DeWalt's cutout tool is as versatile as any we've tried, and a bit more powerful than most, it's most effective at what it was designed for--quick cutouts in drywall, tile, and plywood. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Dewalt got this one just right
This is a wonderful cut-out tool.It cuts through drywall with ease and makes a very smooth cut.You need to use both hands as it is very powerful but I haven't had any trouble keeping a straight line so far.

Like any rotary cut-out tool, it breaks bits!Keep a good supply handy and happy cutting.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars for lots of power
I have owned a roto-zip and the dremmel. They just don't have the power of this DeWalt. The circle cutter option is very handy and really does a nice job. If you are hanging drywall this of course is a must. For recessed lighting it really makes things easy.Put your drywall in place, start somwhere on the inside of the light.Work your way out to the edge, carefully work your way over the outside and then follow the outside of the light all the way around. The can will pop through and you will have a perfect cut. This is a great tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt's HD CutOut Tool is G-R-R-R-EAT!!
A crew of two just finished installing several roomsful of sheetrock for us, using the DeWalt HD CutOut Tool to cut holes for outlet boxes, switch boxes, and the like. The tool worked beautifully (of course this guy was a pro, does this every day, but the tool would be great in the hands of an amateur as well), zipping sround squares and rectangles in no time.Fun to wa tch, too -- it really Zipped around. This is a great price, as well.I'll buy one as soon as I can. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars great practicality
I recently began using this attachment with my Dremel to create prescise lines at uniform depths.Using this attachment, I was able to achieve the results I was looking for.The variable depth is very helpful, but a little inaccurate.Still, I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a simple, but very helpful attachment for their Dremel.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful
You can control the tool very easy with this attachment and better of all is compatible with the RTX of Black & Decker.

4-0 out of 5 stars There to guide me...
Although this device is meant more for drywall cutting, I find it to be auseful tool when I'm cutting out narrow, shallow depressions in styrofoamfor miniature landscape crafting. When I want to cut down to- and maintain-a specific depth, the guide lends me a really big assist.

Sadly, it's oneof those accessories that require the use of collets, rather than a chuck,on the rotary tool. Not a really good thing when I'm constantly changingbits, and want to do it quickly. Oh well...

2-0 out of 5 stars RotoZip Disappoints
Doesn't meet the minimum operational quality I have come to expect from Bosch.Although it does the basic work expected, the Zipmate attachment has a very flimsy flip lock to lock this attachment to the basic RotoZip tool, this poor design error was made twice when they used the same system to lock the cutting wheel guard to a fixed position on the Zipmate attachment. After becoming disconnected several times with almost no use, both of these quick lock clamps broke, without any adjustment on my part, ruining the rubber bit lock-on grip.I solved the clamp system by replacing both with SS radiator clamps that requires a screwdriver to remove or adjust

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful and robust, didn't break quickly like my Dremel did
I bought my Rotozip kit after using a Dremel for about a week (at which time it broke and I discovered too late that I was among many this has happened to).
So I needed a more robust tool, one that could stand up to serious home improvement projects. That having been said, I find the Rotozip to be quite powerful, and much more robust than the Dremel (which will burn out on you in less than a few hours if you apply too much torque to it, in my opinion). The Rotozip runs at 30,000 RPMs as did the Dremel but is quite frankly a more sturdy tool. With the keyless chuck I've been able to put non-Rotozip bits on it (although being told at Lowe's I wouldn't be able to) and this seems to work. The Rotozip isn't as nimble and lite as a smaller tool is, and can be difficult to use in tight spaces. But that is the tradeoff - Rotozip is bigger and powerful than other tools in its class.
Disclaimer - I didn't mean to badmouth Dremel too bad - its a good hobby tool but can't do serious work in my opinion. Also I tried the Black and Decker equivalent and managed to have it burst into flames within a couple hours of buying it (I was sawing through some wood with a circular cutting disc attachment when the motor blew up).But I'm not bitter :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Bad Anyone Can Write A Review
It's sad when someone who obviously has no mechanical aptitude writes a tool review. The previous reviewer states that the tool has limited attachments or previous ones don't fit.

Remove the keyless chuck from the RZ1-20 and install the nut, 1/4" collet, and pinion gear needed for the ZM1. Next, install the ZipMate attachment and use as before.

Another reviewer couldn't make true circles. Three things are important to get a nice round circle. 1. Use the right tool adapter. 2. Make sure the guide pin hole in the center of the circle is the exact size required for the guide pin. 3. Rotate the tool in the correct direction. Even the best tools produce poor results if attention is not paid to detail when it's used.

The available RotoZip accessories are the same as before; the ZipMate attachment, Circle Cutters, Grout Removal Adapter, Flexible Shaft, and various bits and cutter wheels. And the new Plunge Router adapter has been released.

Given its size and power, the RotoZip is one of the most versatile tools in my tool box.

My advice is never place too much stock in a review unless you clearly know the credentials of the source. As an IT manager I constantly see negative reviews of software and it doesn't take much to figure out that the reviewer didn't read the instructions or fully comprehend how to utilize the capabilities of the product.

So, if you are a novice, it's cool, because everyone must start at the beginning. But, please, refrain from wasting everyone's time and wait until you've gained enough experience to accurately review a product. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice assortment, but crappy case
If you've got a Dremel tool, but too few bits, this is the set to have. This set really gives you the most for your money, as compared to the other, smaller, Dremel bit sets.

That said, I should point out that the case really sucks.I like stuff to be in (roughly) rectangular boxes for ease of storage. This case has a handle, which is nifty, but protrudes a few inches above the case. This means you can't stack anything above it.

Also, the poor design of the lids means they won't open all the way, nor will they stay open unles you pry them up with the blue inserts. If you pry the blue inserts up, you risk spilling the contents.

Oh, and this can be had at the "Wal" place for twenty pesos. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

We will admit that we think these rotary tools are some of the coolest things around; you can do so many things with them. But once we saw this attachment, we were blown away. If you don’t have the money or the space (or the inclination) to set up a whole router table assembly in your home or shop, but you still want to put decorative edges on wood projects, this is absolutely the ticket. It holds the tool under the table, and you mount your shaping bit in it. Turn it on, run your piece against the stationary tool, and your edge is routed. It also works great for small dado grooves with a straight bit. The new table surface is even smoother than before, and it’s plenty big enough for small craft projects. It’s also a great setup for sanding: Just chuck in a sanding drum and move your workpiece against it. If you’ve got a rotary tool, get this.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This will destroy your tool
I'd stay away from this one until the design flaws are fixed.Tons of sawdust from the piece you're working on will fall into your tool and render it useless.I've killed two Dremels, and got maybe a grand total of 5 minutes use out of the table.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dremel Mini router table acessory
I have been using this for quite a while, and at times, it is a lot easier to use this, to dadoes for small items on soft wood like boxes. I used it to make some boxes out of pire and I used it to do edge work and make dadoes. This is my coolest acessory for the dremel with my wood bit set.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked well initially but fizzled out after a few months.
I have a small terrier and really liked how quiet this nail groomer was. She did not seem so tramatized by it.
It did quite a nice job when it worked, but unfortunately, it did not last long enough to really make it worth it. Now when I put it up to her nails, it fizzles out immediately. I even ordered 3 more boxes of the discs, and now have no use for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful
I have an Irish Terrier. I've used a file (slow and inadequate). Avoided a nail cutter (dark nails, got to the quick once and Michelle hates the sight of the things). I had another grinder (too big, too noisy and AC). This Dremel is great. It's compact, no cords, relatively quiet and two speeds (I usually use the slow speed). And Michelle doesn't mind it at all. Highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Way better than clippers
This thing works great, it is easy to shape and trim dogs' nails without "quicking" them.My dog tolerates this MUCH better than any type of clipper.

    Two minor complaints:
1.For large dogs, the small sanding drum supplied is not big enough to do the nail well.I already had some larger dremel drums, but you can easily buy these.
2.Since my dog is large (rhodesian ridgeback) and has tough nails, this thing eats batteries like you wouldn't believe.I almost have to replace them every other time I trim his nails. ... Read more

We don't believe there's a golfer on the planet who wouldn't like a better score, and this little Dremel kit is a dream come true. Any compacted soil on your clubs can affect your trajectory; but a quick buzz with this neat little gizmo and your clubs are ready for the Masters. You can also clean off your golf spikes with the special bristle-brush attachments for a smooth pivot. The pros' caddies clean their clubs before every shot, and we think it'll be your habit, too, once you try out this handy kit. The carrying case clips neatly right to your golf bag and because it runs on good old AA batteries, there's never any recharging. 4-0 out of 5 stars More than Golf
I frankly have zero interest in golf, but I did need a portable, light-duty rotary tool for cleaning battery contacts and light buffing, and this one does very well. It runs on disposable AA alkaline batteries rather than a rechargeable battery pack, and I consider that a plus, since it results in lower immediate cost and avoids the irritating self-discharge characteristics and lengthy recharge times of NiCd and NiMH batteries. Torque is limited, but ample for things other than metal grinding or wood routing. It's a useful tool. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Hard To Recommend This
Not bad for the money but the edge guide's working range of 1 1/4" to 4" really limits it's utility. The edge guide was of no use in routing a 1/2" groove into the narrow (1 ½") side of a 2 X 4.This made the router attachment of no use on my project.

Dremel has the "Shaper / Router Table" attachment and a soon-to-be-available Plunge Router attachment you should consider.I believe the Router Table attachment would have worked for my project.Wish I'd bought it instead.I'll be buying it now too.

3-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I was disappointed with the attachment. It's
made out of plastic, and while reasonably firm,
it does bend a little. Not what you want for
precision work. Make sure you use the collet
and tighten it sufficiently otherwise the bit
will sink into the wood as you work. The depth
measurements are just a bunch of lines, numbers
would be nice. I was unable to rout a straight
line with the edge guide, probably because I
was going right to left instead of left to right.
I'm now in the market for a real router. Hopefully
I'll get what I pay for there...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great attachment!
This is a great little attachment for the Dremel rotary tool. I've used mine on a number of projects from making signs and edging small woodworking projects. 3-0 out of 5 stars Know your purpose--not for doggy toes
I bought this tool from another company as a dog nail grinder. However, there are other Dremels better suited for this purpose. Also the product specs on Amazon are not always correct--double check first on the Dremel web site. This tool is currently spec'ed for 10K and 20K rpm. For puppy dogs slower is better as the friction is less and the nail does not get hot as quickly. Best tool would be something around 5K rpm. I think that's the slowest they sell. Some reviewers complained about the 8000-01 Lithium-Ion Cordless so maybe the 7800-02 9.6V Cordless MultiPro® is a good bet, though I have seen good reviews on the 750-02 MINIMITE® Cordless Tool however it's slow speed is 6500. BTW, specs for the 761-01 Pet Nail Grooming Kit are not online at Dremel so I can't confirm if the Amazon specs are correct, you need the owner's manual to do that. Thanks! and Good Luck!!

5-0 out of 5 stars An incredibly useful tool that even I can use without mishap
I'm not what you would call a handy sort of fellow; a few years ago, my greatest handyman-type success was the successful changing of a light bulb.Five years ago, I had never even heard of Dremel; now, I wonder how and why anyone goes through life without a handy-dandy Dremel tool.A few years ago, I got it in my head that I wanted to build my own working versions of Tom Servo, Crow T. Robot, and Gypsy of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame.Such a project involves some tool-oriented activity, so for the first time in my life I found myself looking at tools.Since I know nothing about tools, I went about my business trying to look like I knew what I was looking for.I think every man responds to the siren call of the hardware department at some point in his life, but not until I found myself looking at a selection of Dremel products did I feel a strange lump of excitement in the pit of my stomach; tool anxiety had suddenly turned into tool excitement, and I gleefully returned home with this Dremel Multipro Cordless kit - feeling quite manly, I might add.

Exactly what does this thing do, you ask?Dude, what doesn't it do?It slices, it dices - no, wait, that's not right. This Dremel tool carves, it grinds, it polishes, it sands, it cuts, it brushes, it drills, it does darn near everything. It comes with 50 accessories in the form of abrasive wheels, drill bits, wire brushes, polishers, engraving cutters, router bits, and cutting wheels.I, being born with a passive tool-user gene, can't really tell what each accessory piece does just by looking at it, but I'm sure most halfway intelligent people can.I have fun just trying to figure it all out. What I needed at the time I bought my Dremel kit was a little sander tool, and even I could recognize the accessories made for that purpose.I soon had my proto-Tom Servo head free of jagged edges and was ready to delve further into my little project; this was just the first of many little Dremel success stories in my suddenly tool-enabled household.

The tool itself is a portable two-speed unit that comes with its own battery and charger.Whenever you get through using it, just plug it back up to let it recharge, and it's ready to go the next time you need it.It is light-weight and allows for different grips, helping to ensure you can pretty much reach whatever little space you need to get to with it.This model has two speeds - 7500 and 15000 rpm. That's pretty darn fast, and that high speed combined with the unit's low torque makes life pretty simple for you - the tool does all the work for you, making this the perfect tool for weaklings such as myself. Now, if you're into some heavy-duty work, the Dremel tool may not meet all of your needs, but for many odd jobs around the house and all manner of hobby activities, a portable Dremel tool is the way to go.

I must say that the documentation that comes with the kit is quite impressive and does actually describe each accessory and its proper uses.Of course, my being a man, I don't think it's legal for me to read a manual, so I just get by on instinct and luck. The kit also comes with a colorful little book telling you all sorts of jobs you can do with your new Dremel tool - if you have a significant other, you might want to keep this kind of information away from her/him.Even if you do get stuck doing odd jobs your better half would never have conceived of without the insight of the Dremel documentation, at least you can be comforted by the fact that you will have a lot of fun playing with your new essential Dremel tool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cordless version has quirks - but does great job
Good: high speed+abrasive wheel cuts through ANYTHING, light durable feel when using, vast array of bits makes this a jack of all trades from cutting to polishing.

Bad: battery pack does not last very long, On/Off Switch is not definite (safety concern?), needed to buy 2nd battery pack while working a a bathroom project

This is NOT a drill.I see other reveiwers complain about this.If you want torque buy a light-dimming 12Amp Milwaukee Power Drill. The Dremel is an abrasive tool.If used intelligently it will do ALMOST anything you ask it to. ... Read more

I had a medium size dry wall project coming up and had heard about these rotary saws but after reading the reviews for them all, I was in doubt: everyone said the DeWalt and Rotozip were loud, messy, difficult to control, and broke bits off often.I like Bosch's products so I decided to take a chance on it.It has been great.I have now finished the project and I can say that all the complaints about the other models do not apply to the Bosch. It is not too loud nor does it send a cloud of dust in one's face. After a couple of cuts it was easy to control and I used the same bit for two weeks without it breaking or seemingly going dull. I have not tried it with real hard surfaces like tile but so far it has been tremendous. It has saved so much time and seems so well made.I liked it so much that I hope this review helps others who are deciding what product to buy.

I have used a Rotozip many times and liked it, but when I tried the Bosch 1639K Rotary Saw, i knew it was a Bosch because it is smoother and the controls are better. Bosch is one of my favorite tool makers, I would try anything they make. ... Read more
