3-0 out of 5 stars Good little safe
This is a good little fireproof safe, but there are some design flaws. Although there is a digital keypad, you still need one of the two 'slave' keys to open the safe. There is no handle, and the key itself actuates the lock mechanism after you enter the right digital code.
There is a 'master' key that opens the safeif the digital keypad doesn't work, or if you are the main owner and want to allow for employees to use the 'slave' key with the keypad combo to open the safe. You can change the digital combination easily once the safe is open.
The .6 cu foot space is really limited to some small items and paperwork, don't plan on storing too many items inside. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Unless you've been hiding in the dark for the last few decades, you're sure to recognize this classic from Mag Instrument. The solid dependability of Mag flashlights is hard to top, which explains why the brand is so popular with police officers, security guards, and other people who can't afford to be left in the dark. This three-D-cell model is great for home use and an essential part of any home emergency kit. It shines as bright as most homeowners could ask for, and a simple twist of the head changes the beam from a spot to a luminous floodlight. Having a Mag flashlight on hand can keep an inconvenience, like a November blackout, from becoming a small disaster. It is also a great light for illuminating the woods and keeping the bears at bay on summer camping trips. The weighty feel of a Mag-Lite also offers a sense of security in the dark that other flashlights just don't have, enough to give you the confidence to confront any basement bogeyman or mountain monster. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best torch ever!!
I have one mounted on the wall at home just incase there is ever a blackout.

Just knowing that it`s there is great peace of mind next to the fire extinguisher.

It is a professionally modeled piece of kit with great light output and can switch from spot to flood. The flood option can illuminate a garden, great for spotting intruders.

Talking of intruders, load this baby with the 3 D cells and it makes a nifty club. Just dont tell the police I said that.

3-0 out of 5 stars " CLUNK ! "
I've bought some Mini-Mag's before, but even though Streamlight and Pelican were coming out with these new terrific lights, I realized that dealers were hard to find, and although Maglite is the older kid on the block, they are easy to find, and it's still a great light. I bought my second 3-D size at my local "Wally Mart" and went to work the next night (I do mobile security). I've owned a 3-D size before and always found it better than anything I've ever used, aside from a super Coleman 9-V lantern. Sometimes I end up in alleys, corridors, and even my favourite, fields that are growing new but under construction houses. Still, nothing makes me feel safer (super boof on the head if under aggresion by a hoodlum) and well prepared with it's great power, both in spot and flood modes.

Here comes the bad news. I almost forgot that my other light died from the same reason this one did. I have dropped both of them a few times (clumsy me), yet was reminded that these are shock resistant. Well, on a fateful day in an office building, with new batteries too, I accidently dropped my Mag and as it hit the 'carpeted' floor, it went off. I tried to turn it back on, but after a few tries and even changing the bulb just in case it was burnt out, I realized that my Mag had expired. Terrific. The other downfall is that if you drop it and it switches off while you're in the dark, good luck finding it if you're in the woods. That happened to me once, but I ALWAYS carry a backup Mini-Mag, so I found it later (it's black, and trying to find it in the woods with dark branches around isn't easy, so it's hard to find).

Take this as good advice: buy it if you are in the woods or on softer ground-two of mine died falling onto carpets. The other thing is to at least get the "silver" or "light blue" coloured versions. At least they're easier to find in moonlight. I just got the black since the black looks best. Ah, still. Hats off to Mag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maglites are the best!!!!
Come On!!!Many people have said that this brand is just ot heavy, and that you shouldn't by it because other brands are lighter.Well, unless ur a cop, these lights are great!Perfect for camping and blackouts, especailly the mini maglite.I would recommend the 3 Cell, its not to heavy, unlike the 4, 5 and even 6 cell ones. Also, remember to register yours at Maglite.com ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Package stripped of batteries
I ordered this item through Amazon and upon opening the shipping box, I found that hard plastic display package had previously been opened and the lithium batteries removed.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD COMBO LIGHT.
A good light for the money with the free shipping .I like the dual light methods . The titanium color is a bright silver color much easier to find on the ground than the 51005 black . Though not as good as surefire's and made in China for the money you can't beat it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great flashlight, just as described, but not a SureFire
I'm not sure if the reviewer who says "This Streamlight is brighter than a Surefire" has ever used a SureFire.Don't be fooled by the Lumen and Candlepower measurements; it's different for every manufacturer. The military uses SureFire, not Streamlight, so SureFire's measurements need to be more accurate.Side by side there is no comparison.

Nonetheless, this Streamlight is very bright in Xenon mode, and surprisingly bright in LED mode. It's no spotlight, but it's suitable for most normal tasks. Also, the lower price, selection between LED and Xenon, longer runtime, and adjustable beam definitely make it worth having at least one of these.Keep one in your glove compartment!Ladies, keep one in your purse!Possibly bright enough to stun an attacker, but I'd rather have a SureFire for that.

Seems very rugged and well made.A little bigger than I expected, but not that much. Also, one thing that's not specified is how the flashlight switches between LED and Xenon--using the same button, it switches On(LED)->Off->On(Xenon)->Off and repeat. Also, the "momentary signal" feature (pressing the switch slightly, but not all the way) is opposite of Mag Lite; it only lets you turn it OFF momentarily while the light is ON.However, this flashlight is simply way better and brighter than any Mag Lite (unless you want a giant club for safety).

Finally, even though the "Titanium" colored one looks black in the pictues, it's completely silver colored.Very light silver color at that.

Enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great item
Great size and light power..I use flashlights for work and this 3 C battery model has been my favorite for years.

5-0 out of 5 stars great piece of work
Mag lite flashlights to me are the best that are on the market today for the money. This 3 "C" cell flashlight is alot more lightweight than its heavier counterparts and is very bright, don't let its size fool you this is a very powerful flashlight and it is also constructed from high quality aircraft aluminum and is waterproof. I give it my full endorsement to anyone who is interested.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent flashlight - good price
I keep one of these flashlights in both of my vehicles. They provide alot of light from a fairly small package.Buying the "C" batteryversion allows you all of the benefits of a Maglight- brightness, durability, etc. but its light weight makes it less cumbersome to carry. You won't find a better flashlight that this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great all-purpose light
I'm addicted to this light.I got it mainly because I wanted an efficient bike light and an occasional headlamp for camping.I bought the bike attachment ($5.00) and ended up using it almost every day in the winter, since I commute to work and school by bike.Definitely bright enough for conservative biking in the pitch dark (and lasts maybe 10 hours on the bright setting), and the strobe is awesome for city riding--you'll never not be seen again (I'm constantly "almost hit" by cars who don't see smaller bike lights)!!After parking the bike, the light clips off and goes in my bag.Because of this, I always have the light with me, which has made it useful in so many situations where I unexpectadly needed a light.

The light was so great, I bought a second for my fiancee when she went to Africa with the Peace Corps. As she often is without power, and decent batteries are hard to come by, she says that this light has been a real lifesaver.I brought mine when I came to visit, and we were using them all the time.I expect the same when she returns and we go camping. The thing is, when you have a light that runs for 150 hours on 3-AA batteries (on the low setting, which is plenty enough for walking around or reading), you leave it on and use it a lot.Contrast to the old days of the C-Cell flashlights that you had to use sparingly during those late nights in the tent--since you knew the batteries would run out quick. We even used the great red LED for reading the starcharts for the southern hemisphere. What a great extra to add to the light.

Other reviewers did a great job on the other points, so I won't bore you here. But one thing I'll mention about customer service:I originally bought the very first version of this light, which had some problems. The latch on the battery box was flimsy.LRI, without question, sent updated boxes to all registered owners.I then had a problem with electrodes contacting correctly.I called and they said I could return for a repair/replacement, but unfortunately, it would take a few weeks, since they were backordered--but they gave me an option of having the owner of the company talk to me and tell me how to fix it myself.1/2 hour later and it was working, and I didn't have to wait 2 weeks. Everything was fine for 1 year, and then the switch stopped working correctly (Mind you, this is daily use on a bike in rain, snow, hail, etc).I unfortunately had to return the unit.Less than a week later, the brand-new, updated version arrived on my porch, no questions asked. It's been another year of biking and bad weather, and the light (updated version has had none of the problems of the original version, plus it has the red LED) is still working beautifully.

If you want a good, all-purpose, efficient light, then this is definitely the one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most versatile headlamp I own!
One of my favorite headlamps to date! The packaging of the item is nice - it comes with a small nylon carry bag (with a nice drawstring closure) and a belt clip, in addition to the head strap. The instruction sheet is short, but well written and very detailed.

The unit itself is a nice resin plastic material. All the contacts are gold plated - so if they get wet, they shouldn't corrode. The head may be removed and put on the end to act as a flashlight. The head swivel adjustment has a nice detente "click" feel to it. Only two of the click positions are useful as a headlamp, unlike some others that have a finer adjustment - 7 clicks moves the head 180 degrees - so that's around 25 degrees per click. (NOTE: I adjust the position of the straps on my head for optimum lighting, then use the swivel if you are looking at something overhead). The adjustment is smooth and even.

With AA alkaline, it isn't too heavy on your head (heavier than the black diamond moonlight, but lighter than the petzl led duo). The light pattern is a nice even pattern - brighter than the black diamond moonlight, about the same as the petzl duo (close enought really). The switch mechanism has a nice positive "click" feel to it (just like a rubber button push button on a normal flashlight). The adjustments for illumination are great - you can choose your illumination level - at lower levels, all 7 leds are still lit, they are just pulsed very fast, so that even though it is low illumination, it is still very broad and even.

The addition of a red LED that can be used separately from the other 6 white LEDs is really nice to have. The "hyper-bright" or whatever mode it is can be useful if you like using the headlamp at low to mid settings, then have a temporary bright light. I don't find it useful, but some people think it's neat.

This lamp is good at illuminating objects 30-40 feet away. Better than the black diamond moonlight, and about the same as the petzl 5-led duo.

The headband material is a bit cheap - meaning it is a very coarse weave, and might irritate those with sensitive scalps (or bald heads, shaved heads, etc). Not as nice a fabric band as the black diamond moonlight. Petzl's is better too.... but - I just wear a hat if it becomes bothersome. The straps are nice and wide, and can be adjusted to fit comfortably. The unit is light and the straps are wide, so it stays put on your head.

The battery compartment is a bit annoying to operate - the catch looks like it could break if you pried really hard - but snapping it on -off-on-off-on-off repeatedly doesn't seem to bother it. I would rather have a beefier catch mechanism, but I got spoiled by the PETZL design.... The door itself appears to have a rubber seal, so it may be very water resistant - I don't think this thing is waterPROOF, but I don't know (the packaging does not specify). It's not an underwater light for sure!

Converting it to the flashlight mode is simple - there is a large "thumb screw" that you can loosen and move the head to the end of the unit. very quick and very well thought out design. I don't use this, I have my streamlight 4AA instead :) but it's a neat feature. Stand it on end on a table, then tilt the head to the desired angle for reading, working on something, etc. Makes it more useful.

Bottom line: If you don't want a dual headlamp design (halogen and led) - want to save a little weight, this is a GREAT headlamp. Very bright and useful. RED single LED mode is cool. Different settings are great. Adjustments are easy. Headband is comfy enough (some people might be bothered by the scratchy material on the headband - just wear a hat). Comes with a little carry bag and a belt clip. Great for projects around the house - hiking after dark - being a geek in general (hey - show up to a premier of a star wars or LOTR movie with the strobe a flashin' - you're the life of the party!).

Already have a headlamp? Get this kind as a spare. Light, comes with it's own carry pouch, very versatile. A definite 5-star product. Get one today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Still in the dark?
This is a real you-must-have-one item, I can't remember my life before, I never left my home without my MAGLITE SOLITAIRE and my Leatherman MICRA.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Purchase!
I just bought a silver one of these maglite solitaires. The flashlight is incredibly small and lightweight. At first I thought it might be lighter than the key I attached it to! and, While on closer observation I was wrong, I think you'll find that you won't notice this flashlight on your keyring. For its size the light is pretty bright. Most keyring flashlights end up being only good for looking like a flashlight and not actually being one. This one is actually very handy. Its best feature is the candel feature (where you can unscrew the head of the flashlight and the bulb asks like the light of a candle). I definitely suggest you buy this product.I plan on purchasing more of these myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable, Lightweight, and Inexpensive
This little tiny flashlight is powerful. From the name you can trust.I have had Mag-lites for many years and I have to say that this one is the most convenient of them all.It is durable, lightweight, and very inexpensive. It fits into any pocket, or can go on any key chain. You can even have one in any part of your car or house for those little emergencies that aries. The aluminum alloy case is so protected that this flashlight can last a lifetime. It has been a great and useful investment.Enjoy!?! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Quickly becoming a dinosaur
There is a lot going on within the technology of flashlights recently. LED, Lithium batteries, focus bezels, etc. The Mini Mag has fallen behind a bit technologically, but is still a great little flashlight for minor emergencies NOT involving looking for criminals, terrorists or signalling for a chopper pick up. The mini Mag is perfect for a pocket or a ladies purse. The product is very durable and they are proven reliable. Don't get me wrong. I've depended on Mag lites of all sizes for years. But head to head , the Surefire brands have quickly surpassed Mag lite in every important aspect of flashlights - usable light power, size, durability and weight. The Mag light brand just aren't keeping up. And that's too bad for us who value product loyalty.
The Mini Mag is a good value and I have several in the house and the vehicles. But they're being replaced by Surefires as they wear out.

1-0 out of 5 stars The color is the best thing...
This flashlight design is more than ten years old.The biggest improvement in that time (as for all maglites) is the range of colors on offer.Otherwise all the torches are pretty much the same.Meanwhile, the rest of the world has moved on with brighter bulbs, shockproof designs, better battery life.
So while this was once cool, now it is just another torch in a pretty color. The light is dim, has funny shadows in the beam, and the bulbs break.
I'd recommend looking at a different torch, e.g. the ARC AAA.

1-0 out of 5 stars Depressing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flashlight perfection
Need a flashlight?Contemplating whether to buy the El Cheapo plastic flashlight, or the Mag?Get the Mag if you can afford it.After all, you get what you pay for, and with the Mag, you get the embodyment of flashlight perfection.

Just the weight of the Mag with batteries in it gives me a sense of satisfaction (for some reason). It is a heft bugger, but that's why it's so durable. The light is also crisp and powerful.

Need I say more?

5-0 out of 5 stars DYNO-MITE
The best flashlight in the world. Almost too pretty to bang around the shop. All the pro's use them( police, fire,mt rescue etc)because these things are bullet proof and built to last. From it's self cleaning switch to it's on board bulb storage and rubber seals this thing is a work of art.Do yourself a favor and buy a Mag Instrument.

Now get out there and light up the night.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous flashlight in an indestructible case
I own four of these 2 D-Cell mag lights. There's one in each of my cars, and one on each floor of my home.

They are bright, focusable, and it always turns on without fail.No more shaking your flashlight to keep itlit! It's well weighted, so you won't get tired by carrying it, anddropping it won't break the lens or the case.

We also purchased an orangeplastic cone that attaches to the front like many police officers have fordirecting traffic, which makes this flashlight perfect for walking at duskor at night.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fair Radio Is Worth the Money for Casual Radio Needs
For the price, the Panasonic 2400 is worth it, that is, if you have no special reception needs. The AM/FM sensitivity is fair and adequate, not great. Separation of stations is only fair so if you have a lot of competing AM stations you may not like this radio and may want to buy, for seventy dollars more, the Grundig S350. But if your AM station is strong and doesn't have interference, you'll probably be happy with the 2400. Its best feature is its speaker, three inches big and superior to the speaker on my 79-dollar Sony SW35. For someone who is a bit of a fanatic about radios like myself, I cannot recommend the 2400. With its weak separation, I just cannot warm up to it. I would rather spend more money on the aforementioned Grundig S35 or 130 dollars on the Tivoli PAL or evenover two hundred dollars on the Sangean 909. But that's me. If you're just a casual radio listener, the Panasonic 2400 is worth the price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Master Lock 375DAT Snap on Receiver Hitch Lock w/ 5/8"Pin
After spending more than I care to mention on a bike rack and a hitch-mounted storage rack I felt I needed to protect them with a hitch lock. The Master Lock 375DAT is for a 2" receiver and replaces a 5/8" pin.I looked at a few bike and hardware stores and found it to be competitively priced on Amazon. It also appeared to be of better quality and lower price than some others I found at a hitch store as well. In assessing the lock I wanted to see how well it performed in three apsects:1) Fit and ease of putting through the hitch pin opening 2)Ease of locking and opening with hitch attachments on; and3)Did it make any noise or rattle.

Overall I was more than pleased with the lock.1) With regard to placement I was pleasantly surprised to find that it slid throughmy slightly rusty receiver hitch better than any of my existing pins.I think this was because it is a better quality SST than my other pins.I also found the locking mechanism to be easier to lock in place than the conventional pin.Since the locking head is symmetrical I did not have to worry about getting the hole lined up just perfect to insert a cotter pin (also minimized knuckle scraps). 2) It was also easier to mount my storage rack attachment since you approach the lock from the side rather than having toaddress the cotter pin through the attachment.I had also intended to use with my bike rack which is held in place with a bolt.I forgot the bolt is held in place with a nut welded to the inside of the receiver tube so the lock is unable to go through. Not the fault of the lock, just disappointing that I either have to keep using the bolt or somehow remove to enable the lock to pass through.3) I was a little concerned that there was some play in the lock and that it might create some noise. The play I noticed helps engage the key in the lock and does not appear to be a problem.

My only complaint is that I wish Amazon carried a version for my other car that has a 1 1/4" receiver which needs a 1/2" pin! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars ok for the price
This is a handy light, and a decent value. When compared to a SureFire flashlight, this is nowhere near as good (although the SureFire is 3 times the cost). The beam adjustment doesn't seem to work very well.It is useful to have the two intensities available in one unit, though, and it is better than a bulky D cell flashlight. ...
