5-0 out of 5 stars The very best on the market
Ordered this from the drill doctor and they sent me to amazon to buy it at a cheaper price. I don't know of another company that would do this for a customer. Now thats what I call a five star rating. I would do businesswith this company it they only sold horse shoe nails.

5-0 out of 5 stars Drill Doctor Saves Me Hundreds of Dollars!
I've been burning through drills since my father let me in his workshop @ age ten. Since then I had buckets of used drill bits that were just worn out from high use. My idea was that someday I would find the time tosharpen them. I came across the Darex Drill Doctor Model 750 @ a local farmshow. I have been skeptical of these sharpeners before because I have beenburned by a PlasPlugs model that said it could sharpen drill bits. Afterseeing a demonstration firsthand I purchased the Drill Doctor 750 because Ineeded to sharpen the larger and more expensive 3/4 inch drills. The returnon my investment was made within the first couple of hours using my DrillDoctor. The best thing about it is that I can sharpen 118 & 135 degreebits and put a split-point on them!Their diamond wheel lets me sharpenall kinds of different drill types.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally a drillbit sharpener that WORKS!
I was skeptical that the Darex 750SP wondering if it was just another gizmo that was "supposed to" sharpen drillbits. After calling the manufacturer to find out if they could convince me that that their product would produce consistant "professional results" I was convinced enough to give it a try. What I found is that it works VERY well even on the smallest bits.Bits in the 3/8" to 1/2" range take a little more time to sharpen due to the amount of material being removed, but any bit less than 3/8" can be ground razor sharp in less than a minute... and most in 30 seconds or less! The sharpener has more than paid for itself since I have sharpened a few hundred bits in a wide range of sizes. With the Darex 750SP I am able to take dull or even broken bits and make them as sharp or sharper than new.And with new bits at $1.50 to $3.50 apiece, it didn't take long for the tool to pay for itself. ... Instead of throwing away old, dull bits, give them a checkup with the Drill Doctor and extend their life. Although drill-bit sharpening systems often fail to live up to our expectations, we're here to bear witness for the truth of the Drill Doctor's claims: it really does sharpen old bits in just a couple of minutes. The 500SP (also known as the Tradesman) works on conventional, split-point, and masonry bits. It can sharpen bits from 3/32 to 1/2 inches in size, and though the machine will also work for 3/4-inch bits, we'd recommend buying the Professional model for doctoring these big boys, as it comes with a special chuck the 500SP lacks. Both models--the 500SP and the Professional 750SP--allow you to choose between a 118- and 135-degree sharpening angle. Operation is fairly simple, but to make sure no one has trouble figuring it out, the Drill Doctor comes with a how-to video. Anyone who frequently wears down drill bits is going to appreciate the savings this handy machine can offer. Using sharp bits instead of dull ones also increases the life of your drill, because sharper bits require less work to make the same hole. Much to my surprize this tool is wonderful and does an excellent job. I resurrected dozens of old bits and in about 2 hours had more than my money back. A product that lives up to the hype, yes it's that good. Wish I had it years ago.

Within 20 minutes of receiving the Drill Doctor I had set it up and sharpened 10 drill bits.Easy to use and does a great job.

5-0 out of 5 stars Drill Doctor 500 is great
I purchased the Drill Doctor 500 brand new from Amazon.com because they had the best price. At first, I sharpened about 50 135 degree cobalt bits, which were dull. I tried each of them in a piece of wood (for testing purposes) and they drilled like butter. However, I got to a job site and used some of them in metal and they did not drill well at all.I then realized I had not sharpened them well enough. I find it works better when you use 6 to 8 more than the recommeneded rotations when shapening the bits. This thing is great. I sharpened two 1/2 inch carbide tip bits and they drilled cement block like they were brand new bits.It takes a little practice and I now keep a piece of thin gauge metal or aluminun next to my work bench to test each bit after sharpening. It does one well to read and follow the directions.I am just sorry that I have thrown away so many expensive cobalt bits over the years. Also, I had a problem when I went to reverse the diamond wheel. The wrench that was supplied with my drill doctor would not fit and it broke the plastic piece underneath the wheel.I called drill doctor and they sent a UPS pick up order at no charge and they they also sent me a brand new drill doctor.I expected for them to blame me and give me a hard time.Boy was I surprised at the outstanding customer service at this company. I love this thing and its one of my favorite tools. ... Read more

Although drill-bit sharpening systems often fail to live up to our expectations, we're here to bear witness for the truth of the Drill Doctor's claims: it really does sharpen old bits in just a couple of minutes. 5-0 out of 5 stars What It Does It Does Well
My wife gave me a Drill Dr. 250SP a couple of Christmases ago, and I wouldn't be without it. If you often use twist bits and masonry bits it's fantastic.

I viewed the videotape and read the manual before I even plugged the thing in.You really need to do this in order to understand the tool and use it successfully. The instructions were well conveyed--in fact even a bit redundant.

Once I got my mitts on the tool, I found it to be well made with heavy plastic case and high-grade cord.It looks like it will last a long time, and it sounds like a quality tool when it runs.It is also easy to use, sharpening efficiently and smoothly with very little practice.I was able to sharpen about 72 bits in my shop in a little over an hour.

A sharp bit makes much cleaner holes in wood with no burning. And I often use it to sharpen bits right before I drill metal--always makes a cleaner, faster cut and the bit doesn't dance as much when you're starting the hole.

I don't have any problems sharpening 1/8" bits, but smaller than that, I just use bits like consumables because they are so cheap.

The point has been made that what the DD costs will buy a lot of bits. That may be true if you buy cheap bits, but would you buy a new bit for every project? And what about your time to go to the store to pick the darn things up?

True it doesn't sharpen brad point bits, impact bits, Forstner bits, auger bits, saw blades, jointer knives or fingernail clippers, but what it does it does very well at a very fair price.

    Two big thumbs up!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool
This is a great tool for sharpening small to medium size drill bits. It really does work. Larger bits take take a while to sharpen and it does get tedious having to turn the bit while using the drill to spin the sharpening abrasive. It would have been cool if everthing was automatic but then look at the low price. Overall this is a great tool...you can have your old bit good as new in just 3-5 minutes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Drill Doctor 250SP fixes my bits
This is a nice product, I'd almost give it 5 stars but its not perfect.

I almost bought one a year ago, but I decided to get a bench grinder instead thinking I could sharpen my bits that way. Well, I was able to sharpen some but the learning curve was a little too high. You have to use a twist and feed motion to cut the right curve in the bit at the right place. My sharpened bits were time consuming to get uniform and just right.

The Drill Doctor I finally got recently makes it a snap - the set-up alignment is nearly fool proof and the chuck rides a cam to get the correct feeding motion everytime. I sharpened all my bits (three or four sets plus the ones in my tap set) in less than an hour. All looked sharp and uniform. I read the two page instructions and bagged the videotape it was so easy.

My complaints: Won't do bits under 3/32", the smaller bits are hard to align because they are short and hard to grab and twist, and as good as it is, I wish it didn't cost so much.

Hint: on those short bits, I just learned to insert then in the aligner first, turn to the correct orientation, then slide the chuck over them and tighten the chuck. ... Read more

I build houses out of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). See www.safecrete.com for more. They have vertical cores, bond beams, and occasionally floor panels which all require relatively small amounts of concrete.
I only have to do the concrete work about one or two times per job. So a concrete vibrator is not a tool I need often. Most are very big and very expensive. This one is just right for occasional use. It is small enough to carry up scaffolding. It is about like a sawzall with a heavy hose on the end of it. It is cheap enough to pay for itself in two uses as opposed to what it would cost to rent one. The small diameter rod is ideal for vertical cores. ... Read more

First of all the price along with the free shipping is the best I've seen. It arrived very quickly, several days before the expected delivery date. However it did sustain some cosmetic damage in shipping. It was obviously dropped at least once and the box was pretty rough looking by the time I recieved it. I decided I could live with the cosmetic stuff and didn't go to the point of reporting it. I think you almost have to expect some kind of damage in shipping considering the weight, 120 lbs.

delivered to your door by some poor UPS guy. Anyway, aside from that, the unit looks pretty good. I fired it up and ran a few beads with 7018 and 6011 rod and it worked beautifully. In my opinion just as well if not better than the older model miller thunderbolt 225/150 ac/dc unit I'd been recently using. The front mounted switch to change from ac to dc seems to be of good quality. Though the plastic crank handle for adjusting the amperage seems a little flimsy. I opend the cover to look inside and everything looked pretty well built. Though I was a little disappointed to see the secondary coils made from aluminium windings rather than copper. All in all so far I feel it's worth the money. ... Read more

Baldor's reputation for hardworking, clean-running motors gets another boost from this model. Unlike OEM motors on some pretty well-known tools, this one's sealed, heading off sparking, bogging and an inevitable decline in power. The ball bearings are lubricated with high-temperature, moisture-resistant grease, and the totally enclosed motor is fan-cooled. It's built for farm use, so its epoxy paint exterior is prepared for the harshest conditions. It's a superb replacement motor for everything from workshop tools to farm equipment and its horse-and-a-half won't let you down.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars baldor saves deltabandsaw
I bought a delta 14" bandsaw with a 6" extension kit hoping to saw up a bunch of wood. Was I mistaken! After only one afternoon of re-sawing,the emerson motor died.I have baldor motors on some other equipment with no failures , so when I found these motors on AMAZON I ordered one. (Much less costly than any other source I could find too!) Shipping was free! the motor fits perfectly, even the pulley fit correctly. However, when I hooked it up according to the Baldor supplied diagrams it ran the wrong direction. After an hour on the internet I found a wiring diagram to have the motor running in the correct direction. Now my new saw cuts great! No bogging down, no vibration andmuch less noise. Why in the world would Delta cripple an otherwise great bandsaw with inferior motors? They should use bigger baldor motors. I would have given the motor a five if the wiring diagram were more complete and included full instructions for directional wiring .low opp(115v) join 1,3&5 to line A; 4 to line B; join 2,J&8.and for High opp (220v) join 1&5 to line A; 4 to line B; join 2,3&8; cap J

4-0 out of 5 stars Delta Bandsaw upgrade
I bought this motor because the resawing capability of the std. 3/4 hp motor on my Delta bandsaw left much to be desired. This motor does not have that problem. It has plenty of power.

For those of you considering upgrading your Delta bandsaws, I have a word of caution. The enclosed base of the saw is very tight and this motor is significantly longer than the 3/4hp std.I had to reverse the motor mounting bars inside the base and relocate the saw itself on the base(re-drilling holes) , toward the edge, to get it all to work.

Relocating the saw was important because it was the only way to make the motor pulley line up with the saw pulley. Also, if you don't make these mod's, the motor's fan sits right up against the side of the base of the saw. This make's it very difficult for the motor's fan to draw enough air to effectively cool the motor.

One other point: while the Furnas contactor that came with the saw was sufficient to handle the load of the new motor, I felt the std. wiring which is 16Ga., needed an upgrade to 14 Ga., so I did.

Lastly, the only reason that the motor doesn't get a higher grade is that there is more vibation now with it installed, than before with the 3/4hp OEM motor, which incidently was made by Marathon in the USA.I'm not sure why, but it makes one of the steel panels on the base rattle rather loudly.I will deaden the sound somehow but its just another anoyance to deal with. The good news is that the vibration has no effect on the cutting ability/stability of the saw itself. It is still smooth.

The price is great, especially because this is a Farm Duty motor. That's what the "FD" stands for in the part number.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Replacement Motor
I have a Delta 14" Band Saw. During some extensive resawing I burned up the 3/4 HP motor. The warranty was expired (saw was 3 years old) so the only option was to either get the motor rewound or replaced. The repair was almost the cost of a new motor and the fact that the old one fried didn't make me too keen on a same motor replacement. I did some hunting around and saw that Amazon sold Baldor. I checked out a number of local suppliers and Amazon beat the price by close to [$$$]. That's not small change. My concern was fitting the motor into the enclosed base. I bought the motor,,it is fantastic...It was a nice fit, the old motor was wide open and caked inside with sawdust,,the Baldor is totally enclosed and fan cooled. It arrived in perfect shape and took about a half hour to install. It runs on 220 but I was able to use the same wiring, just change the plug. I have a Unisaw so the 220 was no problem. I am completely satisfied with the motor and with Amazon's price, I was able to double the horsepower get a tremendous increase in quality for the price of replacing the old motor. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Getting Up Self Adhesive Tiles
This puppy works great.I have run for several hours while prying up self-adhesive floor tiles and have had no problems. It's light weight and the handle does not get overly hot so you can use it without a glove.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 8977 Heat Gun
The Milwaukee heat gun is very quiet and provides rapid, constant heat.Temperature adjustment is easy, granted it does take some guess work to determine the output temperature.I've used this unit constantly for paint removal and shrink sleeving applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Variable Temp Heat Gun
I purchased a Milwaukee Variable Temperature Heat Gun, Model 8977-20 to strip several layers of old paint on the exterior trim of a 1914 Four Square home. The Milwaukee delivered on the brand's reputation forcontractor quality and thoughtful ergonomic design.

After using the heatgun for several window frames, several things stand out: It's light.Animportant quality when working above your head.(This was one of the keyreasons I selected the Milwaukee heat gun over competitors'.)

It's quiet. You barely hear it. Again, a nice feature when you are working severalhours at a stretch. It's easy to adjust temperature (just twist the rearhousing cover). It really works well.Several layers of badly crackedpaint, scraped away with only a few seconds of heat.

Be careful on dry, bare wood with any heat gun.It can burn.I used a spray bottle to wetdown old, bare wood when working close to the edge. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect For My Needs
I've owned this for a few months, and I love it.I use it strictly for activating heat-shrinkwrap around cables, for AV installations.I was attracted to this model by its low price, and because it comes with a case.

I find the ergonomics to be great.Overall, the design seems well thought out.

I haven't used it for removing paint, and I doubt that I will.I'm sure that in that more demanding roll, there will be greater chance for product failure. However, the previous poster's experience has to be the rare exception, rather than the rule.
