3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of the Five Star Review on this product
I was contemplating purchasing this item, but after reading the 5 star reviews here, I was skeptical of their validity. Coincidentally, I found these EXACT reviews on another website that sells this product. Obviously, the reviews were not written by real Amazon customers. I do not yet own this product, but wanted to alert others about the reviews here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product For Getting Organized!
For the past few years, my husband's workbench has become nothing more than a `collection station' for all of his tools & hardware, because he threw away the pegboard that he had installed 12 years ago (I think he said that the pegs kept falling out and getting lost). I bought the Tool Center Kit for him this past Christmas. In our 22 years of marriage, I have NEVER ever seen him get so excited over any one gift. He has installed the Tool Center Kit over his workbench, and now all of his tools are actually organized and easy to find. The best part for me is that, now I can actually do my furniture refinishing projects on the workbench, instead of in the garage in the middle of the winter with a portable heater. With his birthday coming up in March, I intend to buy him the 2 extension kits that are also offered, so we can get even more organized.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy for Terrific Design!
This system works really well in my one bedroom apartment. The panels are the perfect size to put on the back of my coat closet door. I easily installed the boards myself with just a screwdriver. It was much easier (and nicer looking) than trying to cut peg board to size and then paint it to an acceptable color, before installing it.

On the two plastic panels installed on my door, I have hung all of my tools, some cleaning supplies, and outerwear accessories. I finally have a place to store my electric drill, a couple clamp photography lights, a hammer, all my rulers and T-squares, and a lot more small hand tools. I have two bar clamps and two parallel clamps attached to one of the metal shelves, with two bins of screws attached under the same shelf!

Besides my tools, I also have ALL of my purses, scarves, and umbrellas hanging on the larger hooks. I have my mops and a duster on the smaller hooks. I used to have all this stuff piled inside my tiny closet, but now it is all at eye level on the back of my door!

I am a designer, so I am very choosy with the things I buy for my apartment. In fact, it looks so nice, that I find myself purposefully leaving the closet door open, so that people ask me where I got it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product but some important information is missing
Here are the important bits:
- The shelf width is 48"
- The shelf depth is 16"
- The uprights (i.e. the vertical rail into which the shelf brackets are attached) are 25" tall which gives you a little less than 2' of space between your two shelves if you mount them at the extreme top and bottom of each upright
- This set is really 2 separate units each with 2 shelves. The picture just happens to show one unit mounted right on top of the other.
- The Amazon parts list is incorrect. This item comes with 4 uprights and not 2.

I have two of these kits installed in my garage and they're great. They installed fairly easily with just a drill, a level, and some other small tools.I can only assume that the 300 lbs. max load per shelf is accurate because mine are totally loaded up with full cans of paint, washer fluid and other heavy items and they're showing no signs of sagging or pulling away from the wall.

You can buy most of the various bits and pieces of this system at certain hardware and home stores, but you'll be paying a lot more. The 16" shelf brackets alone (8 are included) usually cost $4-5 each. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars really captures mosquitos
This is an excellent machine and very simple to put together.I have over an acre of property and haven't had one mosquito bite all summer. This machine really works and the Pro model, though pricey, is truly worth it.No electricity to use, just propane. The machine notifies you that need to change the propane tank by "beeping" in just about 21 days.A wonderful invention!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great At Catching Bugs - Reliability An Issue
We purchased the freedom model (now discontinued) which was the 2nd from the best. It worked GREAT the first year, virtually eliminating all mosquitos and no-see-ums from our yard. But 4 months later the unit was dead, it simply would not ignite. I called support (we got them right away) and they decided to send a new head unit. It arrived in 10 days and we just put the old one in the box, stuck the supplied label on the side and called UPS to pick up the return - very easy. The unit worked great until the end of the season (3 months after the replacement).

Next season the unit worked for 3 weeks then died. We could not get it to ignite no matter what we tried. We brought the unit into our garage to let it "dry out" according to tech support. No luck. But now the unit was no longer in warranty, 13 months after our original purchase. Our only option was to upgrade to the Pro model (the new units were not out yet) for $400!! Ouch!

We did upgrade and I must say that the Pro model is much better construction with a heavy-duty catalyst (power pack) system. It also has the quick-clear system for the propane lines, which seems to work. No problems so far this year & the unit starts every time. We are now halfway through the second season with the Pro model & are happy so far.

Note that this is the PREVIOUS version of the Pro model with the stainless steel power pack on the side. It seems to be a more heavy-duty construction than the new unit, but supposedly the new units have improved power packs & appear to be contained in the main housing to cut down on contimination from weather (rain, leaves, etc.).

I would recommend this unit, and hopefully the new generation (2004 models) have remedied some of the reliability issues of the past versions. BTW, the other reviews here also seem to be of older models.

1-0 out of 5 stars A defective product
Yes, this product is GREAT when it works. We used it successfully for two years, here in mosquito-plagued Vermont. But like some of the other reviewers, our fan did not work this year, and we have received no help from American Biophysics, except that we could spend $600 for a newer version of this product ...!

With many competitive products out there, at less than half that price, there is no way we will buy from American Biophysics again.(Any we also have tried to be in touch with the people who run this company, through personal contacts.Well, they didn't even acknowledge our emails and letters) ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Another Mosquito Magnet Bites the Dust
Seems to be an ongoing issue with the products from American Biophysics.I bought my $1200.00 Mosquito Magnet Commercial Pro model about two years ago.I bought the commercial model thinking that it would be a bit more durable than the less expensive models. It worked fairly well for the 1st year. The second season I noticed more mosquitoes biting the kids and fewer in the trap. I made sure everything was clean and in working order and kept feeding it propane. At the end of the season my igniter (the little push button starter that looks like the ones found on your typical propane grill) failed so I put it in storage and figured I'd call the company and order a new igniter button (they cost about $10.00 at your local hardware store). American Biophysics just informed me that they won't sell me the $10 igniter. I must buy a reconditioned powerpac for $375.00 instead. Obviously, the product only works for one year before needing to be replaced.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor reliability, lousy warranty
I bought the Mosquito Magnet Professional model ($1200++).It worked great for one season but would not start the next season; American Biophysics sent me a replacement power head. (It was actually cool, they sent the new head and arranged for a UPS pickup of the defective one, I packed up the defective one and sent it back in same packing material --THEY NOW NO LONGER DO THIS, YOU MUST PAY TO SEND THEM YOUR OLD UNIT AND THEY WILL REFURBISH AND SEND IT BACK, MAYBE).The replacement unit they sent me worked fine for the first 3-4 months but then started to slowly deteriorate.I stopped it at the end of the season, but it would not start this year. The unit came with several tools to help keep the unit running--I should have been smart enough to realize that if a product needs its own set of tools to continue to operate that it must not be very reliable. I called them and they say the warranty only applied to the initial unit and even though the replacement was less than a year old, it had no warranty. They wanted to sell me a new unit; I told them I would never buy another of their products and you shouldn't either. This is a perfect example of a good idea that they just cannot make work in the real worls but are willing to pass the failure risk to their customers for what is likely not a modest profit.

Because the first unit worked so well during the first 3-4 months, I recommended that several of my friends buy one of the units and at least three of them did.At least 2 of the 3 units have failed more than once and I just haven't seen the third friend in a while. So these products fail almost without exception and the company feels no remorse and offers poor warranty coverage.

2-0 out of 5 stars High Cost, Poor Reliability, Terrible Warranty
I originally bought the Mosquito Magnet Freedom model which caught only a few bugs and refused to start after two seasons. For over $400 (out of warranty), the company traded it for a Liberty Plus. This model has caught a moderate number of bugs, but I have only had it one season.I also own a Mosquito Magnet Pro which initially caught a large number of Mosquitos, but refused to start the next season. That unit was returned under warranty. The replacement unit worked for the rest of last summer and part of this summer before losing suction (the unit starts, but the fan barely spins). Fortunately, I had a one year extension on the warranty as part of a special promotion when I originally bought the unit, so my Mosquito Magnet Pro has been returned yet again.
Here are the pros for Mosquito magnets:If the unit works, it can catch mosquitos assuming proper placement. The price is coming down due to competition, and the newer units have better features like the quick clear valve and electric start.
Here are the cons:You could pay 20 kids with bug nets to catch just as many mosquitos for a fraction of the cost. The reliability of the units both out of the box and over time is terrible. The one year warranty is a joke since the mosquito season only lasts a few months and the unit will be out of warranty for the second season. These things don't seem to last more than one or two seasons.
The bottom line:Wait until a smart competitor creates a cheaper, more reliable machine - perhaps by breeding a gas grill with a vacuum cleaner. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Catch mosquito for the first year only
I purchased a mosquito magnet pro commercial in 2004, it worked well for just one year, this year we have low catch only 10 or 20 a week, did everything they told me to, change parts and propane tank, it does not work at all. it is a very expensive garden ornament.

1-0 out of 5 stars great when it works... but it doesn't work
Wow, until I read these other reviews, I had no idea how poorly engineered these are, not just MINE. I've ownedboth generations of PROs and have purchased three PROs at $1400 a pop. New generation is better than the old one in that its one button, its worse in that youhave to tear these things apart to figure out why they aren't running every year when you try to fire them up. When they run, they're great. From year to year, they stop working.

I had a very revealing conversation with the customer support manager last year when I said, but this is the new replacement unit for last year's failed unit, so why isn't it under a new warranty and she replied, if we did that, we'd have to send everyone a new unit every year! She had no idea what she had just admitted to.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does not work on natural gas
I bought the Pro model about two years ago. Unlike the other reviewers, mine has worked fine. In fact it does an amazing job of killing flying biting insects. My ONE BIG complaint is that it cannot be used with natural gas. I have the BBQ piped into the house but still every couple of weeks I'm getting my propane tank refilled for the Mosquito Magnet. If and when somebody sells one of these things that can work on natural gas, I'll throw this one away and buy it. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The JET 14-inch mini lathe packs the power of a full-size lathe into a smaller package. Powered by a fully enclosed, fan-cooled, 1/2-horsepower motor, the mini lathe operates at six speeds, ranging from 500-3,975 rpm. Spindle speed is regulated using a pulley system. Simply move the belt to the desired pulley groove according to the onboard speed chart, and lock it into place. No spinning job is too tough for this rugged little lathe. The lathe bed, headstock and tailstock are all made of heavy-duty cast iron, minimizing vibration and ensuring added strength, durability and worry-free operation. The tailstock includes a handle, spindle lock (to lock the spindle in place) and tailstock lock (to lock the tailstock in position on the bed). A removable safety toggle switch prevents accidental startup, while solid rubber feet provide added stability while the lathe is running. The mini lathe comes fully assembled in the box. too. A six-inch tool rest, live center, three-inch face plate, safety goggles, spur center and tooling knockout are all included. An optional bed extension (JET 708355) is available, as well, to increase the spindle capacity for larger spinning jobs.--Carl Thress ... Read more

Features

  • Tailstock is hollow allowing long hole boring

5-0 out of 5 stars Hard to beat this model for value, versatility and fun!
I'm brand new to the world of woodturning but this mini-lathe from JET is a breeze to use right out of the box. The first one I received from Amazon had a problem but their customer service group took care of me promptly with a new one shipped via 2nd day delivery. Okay, so I have spent my first few hours on this gem making lots of sawdust but I've also quickly turned a fancy garden dibble, a ring stand and a candleholder -- all out of scraps in my shop. I mounted my mini-lathe onto the JET stand (another Amazon.com purchase courtesy of my wife for my birthday) and it keeps the entire unit rock steady and at the correct height. To really appreciate this particular unit, you should experiment by adjusting the drive belt onto the different pulleys so as to increase or decrease the operating speed. I'm using a good set of HSS chisels and I find that the combination of top lathe speed, a light and patient touch and softer woods, i.e. not the kiln-dried super-hard stuff that cracks and splits easily, makes for a creamy smooth finish almost without any need for sanding! Remember, if I as rank novice can get these results, imagine what an experienced turner could expect from this mini-lathe! All-in-all, this model is reasonably priced, very well-built, easy to set up and use out of the box and fun to operate. I've already ordered an economical chuck for it so that I can try turning small bowls and ring boxes. If turning smaller objects interests you, consider the JET mini-lathe.

5-0 out of 5 stars It spins.
This lathe spins. It spins quietly and is very well balanced.Tailstock and rest adjust quickly and easily.Speed changes are made by switching the belt between pulleys and are quick and easy thanks to a quick release lever on the motor.Solid and well constructed.I'm very happy with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Over 5 years with no problems
I have owned this lathe for over 5 years now.I bought it at Woodcraft in Orlando and have never regretted it.I have turned 100s of pens and Christmas ornaments and have even done a few duplicating jobs for folks. After all this time and use it is still as good as the day it was bought, it even has the original belt.I had gotten a cheaper unit before I bought the Jet and it did not last two weeks, so don't go there.Buy this lathe today! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fast and Simple Pocket Holes
This is a simple tool that gets the job done.I bought this unit because it is portable.I have used in on the job with much success.A cordless drill will handle most soft woods, but a plug-powered drill will be required for most hardwoods.

I would recommend viewing the videotape if you have never used pocket hole construction.I would also recommend getting the Kreg Right Angle Clamp.

This tool is a great time-saver and well worth the money.I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Note of Caution
Yes, pocket hole joinery is wonderful but pocket holes aren't going to stop global warming.

A lot of reviewers seem to think that pocket hole joinery is the answer to everything. Instead, it should be viewed as another opttion. Some of the items that you need to be aware of include:A. a large, elliptical hole results, B. you can't make plugs to fit the holes that are left behind, C. You now have metal in your wortkpiece, so don't hit it with a saw blade.

You can buy plugs to fit the hole. They are expensive and aren't made in my favorite wood, mahogany. Also, they never seem to match well anyhow.

Also, the case the comes with the equipment is designed for shipping the stuff to you, not for use in the shop. After removing certain things, there are big holes in the case that are useless and things rattle around.

Finally, this works great but $125 is a lot of deniro for what this is (mostly plastic). $80 seems like a fairer price. Still, I give it five stars because it s easy to create really strong butt joints.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny
The Kreg jig has the perfect combination of versitility and accuracy. It is an invaluable addition to any tool collection whether a proffesional contractor like myself or a weekend diyer.Pocket hole joinery opens up a new world of joining techniques from the obvious like cabinet face frames to attaching fridge end panels securely and unobtrusovly to the floor. ... The on/off switch and speed control, as well as the flexible dust-blowing arm, sit on the upper portion of the front arm, inches away from where you're working, so you don't have to reach around the tool to make adjustments. The wide, teardrop-shaped cast-iron table provides plenty of support for materials and bevels 45 degrees each way, great for tackling tricky inlays and shadow boxes. DeWalt placed the pivot points right up front, rather than in the back, which seems to reduce blade vibration. As with many DeWalt saws, this scroll saw doesn't require tools to change the cutting blades, which means it takes you less time and effort to make those drop-in cuts. --Justin Paul ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Getting repaired a hassle "low quality now made in Tawian"
It had it for 5 weeks before it just quit completely. I brought to the local Dewalt repair center per Dewalts service center recommendation. After waiting 2 weeks for it to be repaired, I called them and they said they had to send it off to the factory and it would be another week. After another week they said it would be another week so I called Dewalt to ask how long it should take and they said it was between me and the service center. I asked if they would call and find out what was going on and they said no. I asked what a resonable time frame for repair was and they said 2 to 3 weeks but it was up to the service center if they would issue a new one to me. I got the number to the factory and they said another week. I notice on the box it says made in Tawian and not Canada, so I am guessing even if I don't get it for another few weeks I mightg as well wait since they will all have problems because of low production quality in Tawian. Every tool I have ever bought from them in the last two years except my router has quit working, I think I will quit buying thier products. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Instead of throwing away old, dull bits, give them a checkup with the Drill Doctor and extend their life. Although drill-bit sharpening systems often fail to live up to our expectations, we're here to bear witness for the truth of the Drill Doctor's claims: it really does sharpen old bits in just a couple of minutes. The 750SP (also known as the Professional) works on conventional, split-point, and masonry bits from 3/32 to 3/4 inches in size. If you don't plan on sharpening anything larger than 1/2-inch bits, we recommend getting the 500SP instead; it's basically the same machine, minus the cost of the 3/4-inch chuck that comes with this model. Both models--the 500SP and the Professional 750SP--allow you to choose between a 118- and 135-degree sharpening angle. Operation is fairly simple, but to make sure no one has trouble figuring it out, the Drill Doctor comes with a how-to video. Anyone who frequently wears down drill bits is going to appreciate the savings this handy machine can offer. Using sharp bits instead of dull ones also increases the life of your drill, because sharper bits require less work to make the same hole. We only wish we'd found the Drill Doctor sooner. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Drill Doctor DD750PK
I ordered my Drill Doctor on Friday, 01-28-05 and received it on Monday, 01-31-05.What wonderful service from Amazon.com!
I watched the included video and read the manual and then decided to give it a whirl. My first bit, a 1/2 inch, was perfect!I even checked for accurate centering using my depth micrometer. It was right on.I proceeded to do 24 more dull bits down to a number 40.All came out perfectly. This took about an hour or so.
The only problem I experienced was with small shorter bits. They do not pass through the end of the chuck far enough to turn them with your fingers for proper alignment.I overcame this problem by leaving the chuck not seated on its flats and closeing the alignment paddle gently while slightly rotating the chuck until proper alignment was achieved and then carefully seating the chuck and then tightening it.That took a little practice but the number 40 bit only took three attempts to get it right.I would recommend using a magnifying glass to inspect bits under 1/8 to be sure that they are sharpened correctly.Perhaps the Drill Doctor folks will come out with an additional chuck to handle the smaller sizes better.
Overall, I would recommend this precision tool to anyone who drills many holes and always should have a sharp bit.Well, back to sharpening more bits!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
My sharpener is used mostly for small bits. The instructions say that when the grinding wheel wears down, take it out and turn it over. However, the wheel on my unit wouldn't come off, so I called Drill Doctor's Hot Line. They advised me to put the whole thing in the freezer for 30 minutes -- no kidding -- then it would pop off.Sure enough, it did.Great customer service.

Like so many others, I had collected hundreds of dull drill bits. After "mastering" use of the tool, which took all of 30 minutes, I sharpened them all.Almost as good as having new bits. Now, I can pull out the DD and sharpen a single bit, in just a few minutes.Since sharpening a bit shortens it a tad, the only reason for replacing drill bits now is when they are too short, or I break one.

One reviewer complained that the tool is mostly "plastic".So what, it seems plenty sturdy to hold up for years of use.

"Sharp" means nearly razor sharp. Not like new bits, which are typically blued or otherwise coated. After shapening, bit ends are finely honed at the proper angle.I've had a Drill Doctor for a couple of years, and have used it dozens of times -- this is definately a 5-star tool.

2-0 out of 5 stars Drill Doctor Drill Bit Sharpener
I think it is overpriced. For the cost, and in my situation, it is easier to just buy new bits.

Editorial Review

While laser guides for miter saws have been available as aftermarket add-ons for a few years, this saw is one of the first we've seen from a major brand to incorporate lasers in the design of a saw. The saw itself is the same excellent 12-inch compound miter saw Delta has been selling without a laser. It has a powerful 15 amp motor, a sliding fence, integrated dust collection, and a comfortable grip. The tool is solidly constructed and designed to stand up to rigorous professional use. The laser system used on this saw works a little differently than some of the available aftermarket systems. Instead of making a single laser line on the lumber showing where the cut will be, this system projects two lines to show the material that will be removed by the kerf of the saw blade. So, as the saw is beveled, the space between the lines gets wider to accurately reflect the extra material taken out by the blade coming in at an angle. The lasers can be adjusted to match the blade you're working with. We were big fans of Delta's original 12-inch miter saw, and the addition of the twin laser system makes it that much better. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfection
This saw is great! Everything about it is perfect. It has a lot of power, it couldn't get more accurate, and the lasers are great. Starting from the beginning, I got my package extremely fast from Amazon in good condition. I opened the box to a new shinny saw. The saw required virtually no assembly and I was expecting the lasers or the saw not to be aligned but they were absolutely perfect. I sat there for a few hours using the saw to try to find some flaw with it and I could not find a single thing wrong. It s ergonomically designed and comfortable to use, the numbers and degrees are clear and easy to line up. The saw weighs a ton but it was not designed to be light. I have used light saws and they suck. They are not as stable and flip backwards when you let go after making a quick cut. The base is very shinny and smooth made of I believe cast aluminum so you don't have to worry about rusting. I could talk about this saw all day it's so great. Buy this saw you wont regret it. Why buy a cheap saw that doesn't make accurate cuts. There is so point. This saw will make your life easier and you work look better and it is worth every penny. I am now sold on deltas machines, but they don't make quite a few cheap machines not made for professionals but I believe the majority of the machines a great. You get what you pay for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible saw
This saw is worth the money! I was weary about purchasing it since there are so many mixed reviews about saws and this one seemed to have people saying it was too heavy. Lemme just say that's not the case. It's no feather, but I have no problems walking up and down stairs and to/from the truck and I doubt it would be a problem for anyone that would be buying a 12" miter saw! It was dead accurate out of the box, which it was packed in beautifully. The twin lasers make cutting so easy, I almost feel guilty when I'm using it. You won't believe how fast you'll install trim with this saw! There is no table flex like the DeWalt, and no "kick" when the motor starts. Just an excellent saw, makes crown molding a breeze. I can't think of any negatives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw
This replaced a old 10" ryobi miter saw that finally gave out right in the middle of building my new garage. I have had nothing but great experiences with delta tool as I also own a 10" delta table saw that cost 900.00 and it replaced an old sears. this miter saw works great the twin lasers are terrific just love em.no more trying to determine exactly where the blade will cut. Must have item for any body needing a miter saw with great performance, P.S. I also have a 13" delta planer I'm defintely hooked on Delta. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Recycled wood is wonderful to work with, but you run the risk of damage each time you machine it. Old nails, screws, and fasteners will wreck expensive planer, jointer, and saw blades quicker than a wink, but the Lumber Wizard can keep that from ever happening in your shop again. A metal detector for your wood, The Lumber Wizard locates metal buried in wood up to 6 inches thick. In addition to the sound alert, you can plug an earphone into the jack or set the unit to vibrate instead. A smart designer engineered the handle with a little bend in it, so you won’t be dragging your hand along the wood surface, a small touch we appreciate. For about the cost of a good carbide blade, you’ll be saving yourself countless ruined bits and blades. And that makes the Lumber Wizard is a smart investment.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Nine-volt battery is required (battery not included)
  • Detects metal in all types of woods up to 6" thick--including particle board and solid woods
  • Features a low voltage vibrator, which alerts the user when metal is detected
  • Pinpoints exact location of metal objects
  • No calibrating, no measuring, no guessing

5-0 out of 5 stars The new model is fantastic. It saves my tail almost daily!
I bought the new Lumber Wizard III a couple of months ago and it has been the perfect detector. After owning the first version for a couple of years I've found the new version to be much better. it is stronger, very reliable and has held up to daily use. I own a restoration shop and use a lot of recycled wood. The old version was tempermental and sometimes needed tuning but the new Lumber Wizard III has been 100% reliable. I also bought one for my father in law and he too is very happy with the new version. From my point of view this is a tool only a fool would be without.

5-0 out of 5 stars Glad I got one before I had to buy planer blades.
Easy to follow instructions. A little sensitive to tune in but once tuned ln I checked 30 to 40 ft. of 1X2 oak with no problem. This wood had three quarter inch long finish nails in it. I thought I found them all till I ran the Wizard over it. I like the long length and offset handle on wide boards so your knuckles dont scrape.Light weight and wide scan path make this product easy to use. Little price to pay for what it can save in nicked tooling. This is the updated Lumber Wizard III.

5-0 out of 5 stars They improved it with an upgrade
This is a revamp of a previous review. I wasn't sure whether to order one after reading the other reviews, and after visiting the Wizard web site. Well I broke down and ordered one, and I am glad that I did. I noticed that they eliminated the large adjusting knob on the face of the unit. The plastic form pack and instructions that it is shipped in still have the bulge, where the knob used to go, and the cardboard placard still has the instructions on how to use the missing knob. Before it had the large fine adjusting knob, and a recessed fine adjust screw what was used to get the large knob within adjusting range.
Adjusting is simple now. With the single recessed screw, you simply hold it up in the air and turn the screw until it starts to squeal, then back it off just enough for it to get quiet. Now you are at the maximum sensitive setting. It is intuitive and simple enough, that you don't mind, setting it, every time you use it.
Next I wanted to check the accuracy of the unit. I took an aluminum screw and parked it under a 2x4. When I passed it over the squeal rang out. Good there, then I put the screw under two 2x4s, and it didn't find it. Hey if it is buried 3" deep, I wouldn't normally need to be concerned about it. The instructions call for passing over both sides of the wood, so that would cover even a piece of metal inside of a 3" piece of wood. Then I went over to a piece of 3/4 oak, and put a small brass screw under it, it rang out. Then I put it under two 3/4" pieces of wood it rang out again. Under three it failed to notice it. So the unit is great for depths up to 1 1/2".
The other thing worth mentioning is that this is a rather large unit, with the last 7" containing the sensor area. Since the sensor runs along the length of the unit, as compared to across the face, you get much better results, when making a pass that brings the length of the piece of metal into the length of the sensor. So you want to be sure and pass the detector over the same area at right angles to one another.
Sorry for mentioning the obvious but the larger the piece of metal, the easier it is to detect.
Pertaining to the battery holder, I noticed that a reviewer was having trouble with that. I don't know if that was improved over the earlier unit, but the way it is now is great. It removes easily, and reinstalls easily as well. You simply push in the tab and it pops right out. When reinstalling it, you simply push it back in until is snaps in place. I expect to get a lifetime of dependable use out of it.
The manufacturer suggests that you remove the battery when it is not in use, so that is why some people were not getting a lot of use out of a single battery. With the ease of removing the battery, makes this a no hassle procedure. Simply put, you don't mind having to remove it.
In conclusion I have to say that I now highly recommend the Wizard Detector. It is easy to use, works dependably, even when testing it on different pieces of wood. Considering the price of buying an airport security level of detector, makes this Wizard a no brainer. I don't know how it worked before, but this new upgraded unit does the job I was hoping it would. Buy it you won't be sorry. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WhatIWanted
I just spent 20 minutes assembling this cabinet. Could not have been simpler. Read instructions , add rubber mallet & presto, instant storage. No finish to scratch , no metal to rust, no hinges to bend. The clutter in my basement is concealed & I know where to find what I need. Tools, paint, shoes & boots, cleaning supplies, all behind nice looking doors. I think it is perfect. It was easy to handle at 50 pounds & I will never have to worry about moisture in my basement affecting it. It is what it says it is & I only regret I paid more for the 3 I bought than Amazon is selling them for.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Not the build-quality you would expect from Rubbermaid; definitely spend your money on something else.UPS delivered this package with their usual finesse - smashed, dented, and broken in a couple places. It is easy to build - no tools needed; and no screws, etc.But the doors do not line up, and the unit really does not 'finish' well. The tubes used to hold the unit together have no cover on top - so I suspect it will fill up with garage gook over time.Costco sells a similar-type unit for a third less of the price and the build seems superior. My two cents here!

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not the best for the money.
I decided to clean out the garage after being inspired by a friend who was doing the same. He ended up purchasing the Coleman series which is soo much nicer! The doors have actual hinges on them and they look better. I got the father's day special so for the money I can't complain. Except for the shipping. When I saw the box, I thought for sure these were smashed but they were just a little dented. Get ready to tap lightly with a soft hammer. The box says no tools, but don't believe it.Target had a lower price but I didn't want to pick them up. Target also carries the coleman. I'm saving you time and legwork. Spend 30% more and go with the coleman brand unless you have the money to go with Garage Tek look alikes. If I could do this again, I'd spend the 30% more. ... Read more

Bags like Bucket Boss's GateMouth are becoming more and more popular with contractors these days. They're much lighter than conventional toolboxes and, with advances in material technology, they hold up to rigorous on-the-job use. For the Pro Super GateMouth model, Bucket Boss uses its Boss Tex ballistic fabric--tightly woven and extra thick, this stuff holds up to continuous abuse from sharp edges and points. The Pro Super GateMouth has 39 exterior pockets and 10 interior, and comes with adjustable outside straps for quick access to a level or long-handle tool. It also has a beefy shoulder strap; a reinforced, super-wide opening; reinforced handles; and an identification window, so you don't mistake yours for your buddy's. 4-0 out of 5 stars The Best I Have Found, But Still Not The Best
I bought this bag to consolidate some of the 4-5 toolboxes I have been using (including one of their smaller models).

I purchased this based on the performance of the smaller bag that I have and it has preformed amazingly well (Three years of weekend use carrying way more than it was supposed to, without a rip or other problem.)

I got this bag and was really excited to try it out. I started stuffing things in the pockets and quickly found out that I had to be careful what I put where. I put a small pen light in one pocket and it made it impossible to put anything in three other pockets (including one on the inside.)

Even so this thing can hold quite a bit. Right now it has almost all of my carpentry tools, a set of electric tools, a few plumbing tools and various assorted other things. It basically swallowed two toolboxes I was already using.

I wouldn't recommend this for the mechanic as it does not seem like it would do well with wrenches and sockets, but for the handyman or carpenter it cannot be beat.

The size is great, you'll always have room in the bag to dig for tools, because it you fill it you won't be able to carry it. Mine is pushing 40 pounds of tools and I have plenty of room left.

I would have given this 5 stars if they had spent a little more time designing the pockets instead of trying to say they have so many.

Still if you are looking to buy this, buy it already, you won't be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice & Big
I just traded in my old reliable canvas bag for this one.It was hard to do (I love the canvas) but the extra interior space saves me a lot of trips to the truck. My only complaint is that some of the exterior pockets are pretty small. Many of them are too "tight" to use for much. All in all, a really good bag with lots of room.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bag, Great Price
I just bought this bag for my husband who is always out working on cars or doing some kind of mechanical/electrical/plumbing favors for friends and family. Up until now, he puts all the equipment and tools he needs for each job in plastic Giant grocery bags to carry from one place to the other.

I saw this bag and thought it would be great for him to use instead of those grocery bags.

This bag has a place for his level, a loop to hold the electrical tape he is always misplacing, a place for a small flashlight, his tape measurer can just slide on to the front and there are so many pockets for tools and enough room to basically hold anything he needs to take with him.

For what he does and the tools he takes with him, it's the perfect size - not too big and not too small. And it's got to be more comfortable carrying than those grocery bags that eventually tear on him or get holes in them.

Also, it's a really nice looking bag.Very professional yet still rugged looking.

My husband really liked the look of the bag and thinks he will be able to put it to alot of use.

The only thing that would be nice for this bag are little plastic feet on the bottom. That way you don't have to worry about putting the bag on the floor and getting it wet or dirty...

All in all, this is a great looking and very usable bag.

My husband and I were both impressed when we received it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good space heater
I have used this in my garage for several years now, if I have my garage door closed it will warm the space pretty well.Directly under the heater its really nice and toasty, but the furthest corner of the garage will still be cold.In a 20-degree day with the garage door closed (I have a two-car garage with most of the garage walls NOT insulated), I get over 70 degrees directly under the heater (where I usually change the oil etc.) and at least 40 degrees at the coldest corner of the garage. Most of the garage becomes very comfortable to work in, that I usually don't even need to wear a jacket.BUT - as soon as I open the garage door, I lose all the warm air and it takes a little while to heat the whole place back up. That being said, I typically also let it run for an hour or so before I start working on my car, just so I know the area is nicely heated.

Hope that helps. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Mr Heater 25000 BTU
This is a really nice unit if it fits your purpose.I must stress however, that is if it fits your purpose. As I now realize, 25,000 BTU/hr is not an enormous amount of heat. This unit really is designed for use in a closed in space w/ minimal air curculation. The heating method is to raise the temperature of all objects in the radiant field so that the space stays warm.A breeze or draft will reduce it's ability to maintain the heat. The unit comes with a thermostat for mounting on a wall and setting a desired heat.I've eliminated the thermostat and just hard wired the unit.If it's cold enough to have it on, then I want it on.Mr. Heater advertises using the term "millivolt" ignition or something to this manner. This is misleading. This is not a electronic ignition unit!!!This means the unit has a pilot light. The pilot light heats a thermocouple which provides the "millivolt" current they refer to.The thermostat either "opens" or "closes" the circuit, depending on the temperature and thermostat setting. The "closed" loop opens a solenoid valve in the pressure regulator which releases the gas to the burner.

My unit is installed on a large covered patio outside approximately 8' above a sitting area.Sitting below the heater in a 8' diameter circle is nice and toasty, even with a slight breeze.Sitting across the table at 12' you can feel a slight warming effect with no breeze.More than 12' away....no impact. This is not a highly effective heater if used in an open space. As advertised....this is a garage heater. To get the heat I need I am adding a second heater across the patio from the first.

Clearances around the unit are important.I have 2' clear above my unit, and the lumber above the unit gets warmer than I would like. After 2 hours of use I can touch the wood with my bare hand without having to remove it, but it is quite warm.I'm thinking about 120 to 130F.I have some harditrim up there too and it is even warmer. Not too sure how long the paint will last.

Installation is a breeze.Includes a video if you need it, but there is essentially nothing to it.

Good buy....if it's what you need. If you are thinking of installing it outside......you may want to consider getting more BTU's. ... Read more
