Editorial Review

A member of Leatherman's new Juice line of multitools, the metallic red C2 Inferno might pack the fewest tools, but it features the sleekest, most compact profile. A remarkably stylish unit, the Inferno sports cool, metallic red, anodized-aluminum handles that are curvy and comfortable to hold. A straight knife, corkscrew, and bottle/can opener are quickly accessed from the outside of the tool. Like all Leatherman tools, the Flame butterflies open, exposing needle-nose pliers, wire cutters/stripper, an extra-small screwdriver, a small screwdriver, a large screwdriver, and a Philips driver. We especially like the satisfying way these Juice models positively click into the open position. The individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel, the same quality found on other Leatherman tools. The only difference between the red Inferno and the orange S2 Flame is that the Inferno comes with a corkscrew (the Flame has scissors), making it a handier tool for partiers. Stylish and compact, the Inferno makes a great gift--it's the perfect tool to carry in a purse or briefcase. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have tool at your next picnic!
A note on the corkscrew: While the corkscrew and assist work very well and better than any corkscrew-only design I've ever seen, you do need to take a minor bit of care to line up the assist's single "leg" dead-center on the bottle's neck or it will slide off.A regular "waiter's friend" has a two-legged assist that's self-centering, for comparison. But, a waiter's friend won't have a blade that's nearly as sharp as this one, not to mention it won't have pliers or screwdrivers. The screw works equally well in real cork and the new plastic corks.

The "3-D" Phillips driver blade is a joy compared to the totally flat wanna-be imitations of screwdrivers I've seen on other pocket tools. It's multi-talented in that it fits both #1 and #2 screws.

All in all, this is yet another fantastic creation from Tim Leatherman. This one's earned a permanent place on my keyring.

Interesting.I haven't bought this knife yet, but I might, beacause I like it -- but in the Target store I took it out of its pkg & opened all the blades -- and yep, later I noticed I was bleeding.Hmmm, and here I thought it was just me being clumsy......

Protect your hearing and listen to music at the same time. Whether you are at the job site, in the workshop, or mowing the lawn, you may be putting your hearing at risk, or at the very least putting up with irritating noise. Regular earplugs are uncomfortable and prevent you from listening to music while you work. WorkTunes' hearing protectors offer a high level of hearing defense as well as let you replace the irritating noise with your favorite AM or FM radio station. And while many stereo headsets have volume levels that can damage hearing, this set has a maximum volume level of 85 decibels, lower than the threshold of danger. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I use these day in and day out and could not do without!
I have two pairs - both the older original style and the current (July2004) style. The new style is easier to use but the old style was acceptable just the same. These are very comfortable with excellent reception, as good as any "plug in the wall" stationary radio I own.The hearing protection is better than my old style earmuffs. These are designed as hearing protection with a radio not as an audiophile item.

4-0 out of 5 stars I have very few complaints about this product
I have owned this Pelto AM/FM WorkTunes for about two years now. Here's my experiences.

PROS:
The batteries last a looooong time, and I find the headset very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. And it does a good job of reducing noise levels.I still grab them whenever I need to do any job that's noisy (lawn mower, circular saw, leaf blower, etc.).

CONS:
These cons are more like minor complaints.

The volume and tuning knobs are too similar in size, shape and location - both on the left ear muff - for new owners not to get them mixed up.It takes lots of trial-and-error before you learn which is which. The volume knob is slightly smaller and located below the tuning knob. And they stick straight out from the earmuffs to the sides, so if I happen to turn my head and bang them against something I find that I have suddenly changed the volume or frequency.

I do agree with other posters that the reception could be better - I sometimes lose reception simply by bending over or tilting my head, although I find that poor reception often is caused by weak batteries.I had a problem with the power switch not working, and I took it apart to find that a small piece of metal in the power button had worked loose - maybe from the last time I dropped the unit.I was able to repair it with a dab of silicone rubber and haven't had any problems since.

1-0 out of 5 stars Product failed after 9 months
I received my Peltor WorkTunes for Christmas 2003.I used it a couple times a month.

Last time I tried to use it the on/off/volume switch had failed. The warranty is 90 days so if I send it back to the company it will be a non-warranty repair.

Cheap junk.I wish I would have gotten a higher-quality item. And digital is not too much to ask in the 21st century. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Cordless screwdrivers are nothing new, but this model from DeWalt puts a heavy-duty twist on the idea, and professionals are sure to appreciate it. DeWalt's 7.2-volt has the most powerful battery pack of any cordless screwdriver on the market, without sacrificing compact design. This screwdriver gets into all the tight spots cordless drills can't, and unlike other cordless screwdrivers, it won't leave you wishing for more power once there. Its 80 inch-pounds of torque is beyond even the toughest competing model, and with 16 clutch settings, it's easy to avoid stripping out screws. We also like this tool's quick-change keyless chuck and the extra maneuverability provided by the two-position handle. This is a generous kit, including the driver, a charger, two batteries, two bits, and a tough case. It may not be a revolution, but it does seem to be the first serious cordless screwdriver designed with professionals in mind. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very useful tool
I love using this driver. Its got plenty of umph for its size.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Cordless Screwdriver!!!
I own numerous cordless drills and cordless screwdrivers. This one really fills the gap.Light weight and strong power, for its size.I do a lot of electrical work, which entails drywall repair amongst other things. It has enough power to drive drywall screws in, yet small enough to get into those small places.I wouldn't sheetrock a room but it's great for small jobs.Attaching cabinet hinges, electrical work and driving hex nuts, it works great in all applications.Really beats the pants off of the B&D 3 volt screw drivers. The clutch has excellent range. At the 1 setting you can drive screws into a switch face plate without breaking the plate. The higher numbers correspond almost exactly to the release pressure of my other DeWALT drills.

I knocked off one star due to the poor quick release design.By the way, it hasn't been fixed. When you push the sleeve back, towards the screw driver, it releases the bit.Like others have said, when you bump it or put it in your tool belt the bit can release. It hasn't been a huge problem, just an annoying issue. The problem is that there is a small spring that helps release the bit.So it shoots it across the room.It really doesn't make any sense, since their impact drivers have the release mechanism going in the opposite direction. That said, I would buy this again and recommend it to anyone.Hopefully, some day, DeWALT will act on these reviews. For the price this is a great deal. The batteries have long run times and the charger is the latest 3 mode version which allows you to leave the battery in the charger all the time without damaging the battery. In fact that is what they recommend, keep one in the charger at all times. It charges, conditions and then maintains a trickle charge after that.I wish that I would have purchase this item long ago.Have fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic screwdriver
After using this screwdriver for over a year now, I can agree with the other reviewers--that this is a great tool! I also thought that 7.2v would be wimpy, but it isn't! It beats using a drill to run the screws. Now I carry a cordless drill and this screwdriver in a bag to every task. Highly recommend! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars There are better kits available.
I have been a " DeWalt" user for years, and have been happy the entire time. That is until I purchased the 5 peice kit. It was purchased in September of '02 and I have had to replace the entire kit with the exeption of the recip saw.I doubt i will be making any more DeWalt cordless purchases. There ARE better kits at better prices.

5-0 out of 5 stars Power at your convenience
Tough call deciding to buy this DeWalt kit. At the time I did not need the reciprocating saw and if another manufacturer offered similar kit with cordless planer in its place then I would have bought the competitor instead. Good thing that it was also possible to purchase a 230V charger. Some things you don't think you will need until you have it, now every item has been used except the in vehicle charger. Tools are stored indoors and when taking tools to a job I would have to assess the job and decide what to bring for the day. Space is limited by a small stationwagon, as up to recently the tools only served for a home enthusiast, now they have to work for a living. Yesterday, didn't think I needed the mains Bosch reciprocating saw so it stayed at home. Trouble was there were wooden rail sleepers to saw up on site. None of the blades from the DeWalt kit would cut deep enough. Nevermind. Used the circular saw to saw cuts top and bottom. Finish off with the recrirocating saw what the circular saw did not reach. Well I was impressed. Or course it required a few changes of battery so good job I bought one extra on top of the supplied 3 batteries. Still have not used the vechicle charger yet. Next optional extras on the shopping list would be longer blades for the reciprocating saw if there is one, smaller cases to ease loading and unloading to the car.90% of the time I am only using the drill, jig-saw, and charger. I pray that DeWalt will come up with a cordless planer before I have to choose between Bosch or DeWalt. Better hurry up DeWalt because so far you are winning because you have an in car charger. Bosch has the tools I want although not collected into a kit form yet. But in all seriousness I would only need a planer 5% of the time and anyone getting this DeWalt kit won't be disappointed. Just like a well known advert, I never leave home without DeWalt.

5-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate tool kit..
I have been looking for an affordable but durable tool kit for a while, and this was well worth the money. The tools are made to work hard and definately help you get any job done right the first time.My first project used every single tool in the kit, and what a pleasure it is to swap tools/batteries in an instant. The round saw cut through 2x8's like butter, and the jigsaw made precision cuts for all of my trim work. The Drill is the best tool in the kit, because of the versatility in speed settings and high RPM which allowed me to drill right into concrete over and over again.
I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for a great all-in-one package, and rest asure this kit will last for years... ... Read more

Here comes power and efficiency in a great compact size. Before you even press the trigger, you'll love how this tool fits in your hand, how well-balanced it is. The rubberized grip gives you a sure, comfortable hold, even at odd angles. Performance is top-notch, thanks to dual ball bearings, precision balancing and a refined high-grade field magnet. We're really impressed by Makita's exclusive Shift Lock Drive. With a single touch, you shift quickly and easily "drill" to "driver" mode, locking out the clutch for superior drilling. And we love it when manufacturers include two batteries with their tools, because that means no down time. The charger handles multi-volt batteries, too, so it's good for a wide range. Maintenance is simple because the brushes are accessible. A great, hardworking drill/driver.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Drill through two 4x4s
I'm not the most handy person around, but I decided to build a playground border consisting of two stacked 4x4s. I needed a drill that could drill through two 4x4s to create holes for the spikes.

The big orange box store said to stay away from cordless drills. I was told they do not have the power of a corded drill. After reading the specs of the Makita 18-Volt Cordless drill and understanding the reputation of Makita tools, I ordered the drill.

After a few hours, I had my swing set border complete. I was able to drill through two stacked 4x4s without problem. The spare battery was great. When one battery was running low, I put it in the chrager and used the second battery.

The convenience of the cordless model will allow me to use the drill all aorund the house. When I need a screwdriver, I can pick the drill up and go right to work. No need to worry about an extension cord just change the bit.

The drill comes with two batteries, battery charger, a carrying case and a few bits. I'd recommend purchasing the Makita UltraLoc kit so you have screwdriver attachments. The total cost less the Amazon discount and Makita (...)rebate was (...). Comparable drills are selling for (...)or more. Overall a great value for a product that completes the job. Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makita at their best well, almost
I have the Makita Mforce 18 volt drill/driver and the 14.4 volt as well. Both are well balanced and comfortable during extended use.

I like the clutch lock out feature for drilling, no longer having to set and reset the torque setting when switching from drilling to driving. This drill has the torque to get the job done.

The weight of the 18 volt is just bearly noticable when compared to the 14.4 model.

The negative for me is the speed switch. This switch requires some force to move it from high to low or vise-versa.

Battery life is above average with the two batteries that are included, it should make it through any project.

I have several other "top shelf" drills, each having plus or minus attributes, but I will have to give Makita the pick for my first choice. It has good balance and doesn't wear you out using it.

(...)

The price, the quality, the feel make this drill a winner.

5-0 out of 5 stars At this price, get it while you can!
When I first saw the 18-volt powerhouse Makita 6347DWDE drill at this price I thought it was too good to be true and quite possibly a misprint. I had to read the description and the fine print a few times before making my order.

With a retail price of over $500, the eventual $125 I paid after the $50 manufacturer's rebate and $25 off from Amazon made this one of the best value purchases I've ever made.

The benefits of owning quality power tools go without saying. And take it from me, Makita is a name you can trust. This is not a toy ... it is the real deal. Don't settle for good when you can have the very best.

My apologies for not going into a feature-by-feature commentary, but all that would do is delay the inevitable. Man, don't hesitate a second longer --- get this while you can and then call all your friends to make sure they get one of their own. You absolutely can't go wrong here.

Note: I also highly recommend the Makita 784874-A 15-Piece UltraLoc Set as a super enhancement to this drill. ... Read more

Remember when snow days meant snowball fights, building forts, and a day off from school? Now, they just mean having to shovel the driveway and walkway. Lucky for us, the Toro 1800 Power Curve snow thrower can make that job a lot less arduous and time-consuming. Powered by a 12 amp electric motor, the Power Curve can clear 4 inches of snow off a 50-by-20-foot driveway in 10 minutes flat. The thrower cuts to a depth of 10 inches and width of 18 inches per pass. A patented two-blade curved rotor scrapes the snow all the way to the pavement and throws it up to 30 feet. The chute rotates 160 degrees, too, for better snow control. Best of all, the Power Curve is lightweight, compact, and maneuverable. Startups are easy. Just squeeze the trigger on the control bar, then release it when you want to stop. A key lock helps prevent unauthorized use, so you don't have to worry about kids, or even the neighbor borrowing it without permission. With the Power Curve, snow removal is quick and easy, so you can spend your time on more important things, like having snowball fights. --Carl Thress ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don'tWaste Your Time Or Your MoneyOn This Toro 1800
Generally speaking, I like Toro Products, but in my experience the Toro Power Curve 1800 just doesn't cut it. I use an electric lawn mower in the summer, so I figured I'd try an electric snowblower for winter snow removal. How bad could it be? It was bad. The only thing the 1800 has going for it is its ease of use. There are really no controls to worry about. You provide your own electrical extension cord which plugs into the 1800; then just squeeze the red plastic bar at the top of the handle and you're good to go. It is lightweight, but unfortunately that is its greatest drawback and liability. I am in New England, and the first time I used it with about 4 inches of snow, the 1800 was fishtailing all over the place. It just couldn't handle it. It wouldn't go in a straight line either, and had terrible difficulty overcoming the resistance of a minor snowfall. Believe it or not, the wheels are hollow plastic like the ones you find on a child's toy dump truck. Remember the Tonka Toys? These wheels are useless. The least Toro could have done would have been to use solid wheels that have some heft. Another dynamic that I hadn't anticipated was the difficulty working with a power cord in freezing temperatures. The cord quickly becomes very stiff, unwieldy and uncooperative, and has a mind of its own. A bad scene all around. I returned the 1800 and got back my $329.00. The Toro Power Curve 1800 is nothing more than a glorified electric snow shovel. As much as I was trying to avoid buying a gas engine snowblower, I had to do it, and went with a 5 HP gas snowblower. My snow problems are now solved. Frankly speaking, you will be much better served with a 5 HP gas snowblower from either Toro or Honda - both of which are excellent, and head and shoulders above the electric 1800.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little thrower (consumer magazine was right)
This little snowthrower handles our 3-1/2 car long by 2 car wide driveway quite well and quickly. We're in the Philadelphia area, and this winter we got a few 6+ inch snowfalls. I found it easy to go out and do a pass after about 4-5 inches had fallen, and then a second pass later when more snow had fallen. It handled more when I pushed it, but I found it more convenient to just plan to make 2 passes (separated by 4+ hours).

The aim of the throw is easy to adjust. The unit is amazingly light and manueverable, fit easily into our small 2-car garage (along with 2 cars). No gasoline maintenance hassles. Before buying it, I thought dealing with the extension cord might annoy me, but it really hasn't been an issue.

The bottom line is, it just works, it's simple, and it's fast.

I only have two very minor issues/warnings, and neither detracts from the 5 star rating in my opinion, since they are both easy to avoid.

1- If your municipality throws cinders on the road and the end of your driveway, you may not want to run the Toro over the cinders. The cinders are SHARP and one got embedded into the plastic, jamming the unit. I easily fixed this myself once I put the unit back in the garage for an hour or two so the snow melted off and I could see why it was jammed.

After that happened, I decided to just use a shovel on the last 2-3 feet of driveway if the township has already dumped cinders. (I'd rather shovel a couple feet than risk damaging the thrower--and possibly be without it for the next snowfall--and have to dislodge the cinder. Other folks may choose to live with the occaisional jam.) If the township hasn't dumped cinders, I'll use the thrower everywhere, and it even handles the plow crud.

2- The mouth of our driveway is only maybe 7 feet from our neighbor's driveway, though most of the length of the driveway, it's much farther from the neighbor's driveway (both driveways are angled).

When I get near the mouth of the driveway, if I'm not careful, this unit throws the snow TOO FAR, into my neighbor's driveway! I don't want to be a rude neighbor, so I found that with a little practice, "pulsing" the electric motor reduces the throw enough to get the snow to land in the grass between drives. Now that I've practiced the pulsing a bit, it's easy. I imagine that just about any thrower (gas or electric) would have this problem--and I bet that an electric is easier to "pulse" to avoid this problem than a gas thrower is.

5-0 out of 5 stars works as good as all the reviews say
I have used the toro twice once on 4 inches of snow and once on 7 inches of snow and it clean down to the pavement with little or no effort. The snow was wet and heavy on the 7 inches and it cleaned and threw the snow with no problem. The cord was less of a problem then I thought it would be,and the low handle did not bother me at all. I am 6 foot tall and never gave the handle a second thought. I also like the idea of just pluging it in and getting to work. A great machine for the money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Micra's ultracompact design harbors 10 tools and weighs only 1-3/4 ounces, so it really is small and light enough to be carried comfortably in a pocket or on a key chain. The scissors on the Micra are extremely effective, and the tweezers don't detach (and get lost), as do those on traditional pocketknives. The Micra features stainless-steel components, including the scissors, a clip-point knife, tweezers, a nail file/cleaner, screwdrivers, a bottle opener, a ruler, and a lanyard attachment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Compact and very cool
The Leatherman Micra is a very nice little tool. It has an ingenious compact design that holds a lot of tools inside. The main tool you see after opening it up is the scissors, which are very strong. You can cut staples and cardboard with these scissors, along with the other stuff you cut with scissors (papers, string, etc.). There are 3 types of screw drivers which you can use for a variety of screws, ranging from small to regular sized. There's the tweezers, which are better than the ones in the Swiss Army Knives and are attached to the tool so you can't lose them. There is a knife which is pretty sharp. There's a can opener, which you might not use much here but when you go to various countries outside the U.S. they have more bottled soft drinks so you can try them out. There's also a nail file (comes with a cleaner) and a ruler.

The whole knife closes nicely, and it's all stainless steel. Overall, this knife would make a great addition to your keychain so that you can have it with you at all times, and you'll be happy you brought it when it comes in handy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I was given this product used as a gift by a customer at a store. My initial response was that it would be useless, but I now carry it in my pocket quite frequently.A scissors is one of the most useful portable tools to have.Unlike other pocket knifes (e.g. swiss), the scissors on the Leatherman Micra is useable, even for cutting annoying plastic packaging on electronics.I will note that the tweezer side sometimes allows pocket lint onto some of the tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice!

Editorial Review

For the price, Makita's 10-inch portable table saw is a solid choice for the job site. The 15 amp motor packs plenty of power, and with a 3-9/16-cut capacity, this saw will rip four-by material on a single pass. This saw also has an electric brake, so adjustments between cuts are both safer and quicker to make. The table's a good size, too: 27 by 22 inches. We also really like the saw's new cam-lock rip fence, which is much easier to adjust than double-locking designs. The bevel adjust has a pretty good rack-and-pinion design (metal, admittedly, would be better). All in all, this saw strikes a nice balance between weight (only 40 pounds) and vibration (minimal). Simply put, the Makita 2703 is a solid saw, better for the job site (quick, powerful, lightweight) than the home shop. For the shop, we'd recommend a saw with a more accurate fence. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The king of lightweight table saws
I bought the 10" Makita table saw after I got tired of lugging the massive and heavy Bosch in and out of my truck everyday. With the Bosch, you can expect to spend a lot of time at the chiropractor, but the Makita is so lightweight I can carry it with one hand.

I normally use a 7 1/4" Marathon blade for ripping and a 7 1/4" 40 tooth red Freud deck blade for finish ripping/cross cutting. With the small and thin blades, the saw cuts incredibly fast and clean. I also own several expensive 10" blades, but I only mount them when I need to cut deeper than 1x material.

I also have the Rousseau stand with the Biesemeyer style fence. There is no better fence and stand for a portable. With infeed rollers and long outfeed tables, I have ripped and resawn lumber as long as 21 feet with the little Makita with no problems.

I recently added a set of "Board Buddies" hold downs to the fence and now the saw cuts more accurately than a delta cabinet saw with a unifence.

I miss the soft start and quiet running motor of the Bosch, but the blade brake on the Makita is more practical and safer. The small 7 1/4" blades stop almost instantly.

The Makita saw has a removable trigger safety that prevents the saw from turning on when you remove the safety.

Makita does not offer a zero-clearance kerf insert, but it is easy to make them out of mdf. Dado inserts are available, however.

The stock fence will work if you lock it down parallel to the blade, but it leaves a lot to be desired. The stock rip capacity is less than 20 inches. This saw really is designed to be used in a Rousseau or Makita (made by Rousseau) stand with the large fence. The saw lacks all the sliding extensions and rack & pinion assemblies that you don't need with a Rousseau stand. If you don't intend to buy a Rousseau stand for your saw, you will be better off with a higher priced saw that has a better fence and more rip capacity.

Ripping a 4x in a single pass is an amazing and humbling experience because all that blade sticking out of the table could take a leg off a Rhino in no time flat. Ripping huge lumber is best left to the lumber yards with their monstrous saws and fearless machine operators. I mostly use the saw for finish work so I rarely need to run anything thicker than a 2x4 through the saw, thankfully.

There are lighter and cheaper saws available, but many of the cheaper saws do not have a blade shroud (the Makita's is made from cast aluminum instead of plastic). The blade shroud keeps you from putting a hand into the running blade should you reach under the saw for something. The metal shroud would offer better protection from shrapnel should your blade lose a tooth or fracture.

I recommend this saw for a contractor looking for a lightweight yet powerful and accurate portable. The price is great, the saw is super easy to transport and set up, and the saws are know to be extremely durable and long lasting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Light, powerful, imprecise, non-standard
Strong saw, and light, and with the Porta Table has a nice fence and will cut very wide. However, the arbor is too short for dado work as large as I'd like and the non-standard miter slots limit the amount of after market stuff you can use with the saw.I'm looking to sell mine and upgrade to a more versatile saw.

3-0 out of 5 stars If the fence were better . . .
This is a great saw in many ways. It's light, but sturdy. It's set up perfectly right out of the box, and offers easy adjustments to fine tune its performance. It's perfect to haul to jobsites, or just pull out of the garage on weekends. No other lightweight table saw is so solid, durable, and powerful.

So the fence really is a pity. It's easy to adjust and lock, but it doesn't square automatically. You have to realign it every time you reset it.And it doesn't even hold a setting, unless you clamp it in place with huge c-clamps.So it's not really suitable for any kind of fine work unless you replace the fence.Which isn't easy, because it's not a standard size, and you have to fabricate brackets.Which isn't really that difficult, but for about the same money, Ryobe makes a saw with a great fence. It's not as powerful or durable as the Makita, but if I were doing it all again, I don't think I would have bought this saw. ... Read more

Park-Zone is an innovative precision-parking device for the home that's easy to use and even easier to install. After a simple one-time setup, the Park-Zone uses its ultrasonic sensing mechanism to measure the distance from your car to the garage wall as you park. When you pull into the garage, you see the green light illuminate, then midway it changes to yellow, and when the light turns red you're right where you want to be. In our book, this beats a tennis ball hanging on a string because it's a lot easier to set up, it's much more precise, and, unlike the tennis ball, it looks good in a garage. Anyone who parks in a small or crowded garage will appreciate the accuracy this gadget offers. The Park-Zone operates on AC power or on batteries that last an entire year. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth all the hassle for the power/battery
I think it is really unpleasing to have the power outlet and it is a real pain to have to worry about batteries... I don't think it's worth the price.I then found a ParkingTarget (ParkingTarget.com) which is non-technical, so it doesn't need power, and seems to work much better. You should consider it before making the mistake of buying this really expensive one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Parking Every Time
This product is great! With its green-yellow-red light system, the driver knows exactly when the car is perfectly parked. One reviewer stated, incorrectly, that you cannot use more than one in a single garage.I have had two functioning in my garage for several years, without problem or incident.I have mine plugged into an outlet, rather than battery operated, so that may improve performance, but if the product is aligned according to the easy-to-follow instructions, there shouldn't be a problem. My oldest son just got his first car, and my first purchase was the Park-Zone to ensure he doesn't wreck his car pulling into the garage! This product is definitely a 5-star product!

Editorial Review

Bosch's Brute Tough line of cordless drill/drivers are designed and built from the inside out to offer the most power and durability possible. At the heart of this drill is a Bosch-built unibody power train that contains the motor, gearbox, and clutch in one contiguous unit for durability and the best alignment possible. The two-speed gearbox has large all-metal gears for strength, and offers a whopping 500 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,300 rpm in high-speed mode. The 18-volt motor has built-in overload protection and externally replaceable brushes to help extend its life. The drill also has a steel-reinforced collar to protect it in the event that it's dropped on the chuck. While we don't recommend dropping your tools off one-story buildings, Bosch claims this one can stand the abuse and keep working. The final layer of protection for the drill is its flexible ABS/Nylon-blend Duracell housing that protects the insides without cracking or shattering on impact. The drill also features a a strong reliable grip and a 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck with carbide teeth for one-handed bit changes. This model comes with two batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, a snap hook, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars WHY NI-CAD BATTERIES --cheaper????
After using a Panasonic (long story) for 2 years, I would NEVER ever buy a tool w/ NiCads! Why?the run time!NiMH batteries are SO FAR superior in this regard! They are lighter, have no 'memory' effect and run far, far longer than the ancient Nicad technology.

I will never go back to nicads. And let's not forget the environment I'm no treehugger, but -- Cadmium is a deadly poison.

Bosch cheaped out on these batteries!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not brute tough, not even wife tough!!
I have owned this drill for less than a year in a home use setting. My wife was using it to hang pictures in a plaster wall when it "stripped out", i. e. the motor was turning but not the chuck.I purchased this drill because it sounded like the components were not likely to fail in a light duty application.Oh well...

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding cordless drill
The very first thing I did with my new 18v Bosch drill was to drop it 6' onto a concrete floor.Didn't seem to affect it.Review:

1.The chuck is an engineering marvel -- has the be THE best designed drill chuck on the planet. You can remove and insert a bit, and tighten it, in practically no time at all - with only one hand on the chuck.I.e., hold the tool with your left hand (or left foot!) and unscrew the chuck with your right hand (about ½ turn is all it takes).Insert the new bit and tighten the chuck.(You can actually perform this operation with just one hand; just laying the drill on a flat surface or holding it between your legs - in fact, this may be the only drill that could be used by a one-armed person.)Many keyless drills have dual-ring chucks, the ones that require two hands to work. When the bit slips, I find those chuck designs to be nearly impossible to get REALLY tight.Tight is no problem for this tool.I also own a DeWalt ½" electric drill that requires you to hold a button down to tighten/loosen the chuck. That works OK, but on this Bosch drill, the drive shaft locks when the motor is off, so that button isn't necessary. It really is ingenious.

2.Massive torque. If you're used to a 14.4v drill or even other 18v models, keep your eye on screws you're driving. This beast keeps driving until I release the trigger.I've also snapped a couple of screws due to the high torque this tool has, when the clutch setting was on maximum torque.

3.Speed.Low speed is fine, and high speed (1300 rpm) is OK most of the time - but, occasionally, I'd like it to be a tad faster. One of the ways Bosch gets all that torque is through lower RPMs.Besides, for the types of large hole cuts and other things owners would be doing with a tool this powerful, the 1300 rpm maximum does make sense. The trigger's control of speed is flawless.

4.Battery run-time.These batteries last an incredibly long time before needing a recharge.

5.Balance, comfort, and other ergonomics are perfect, at least for me (I have big hands).Very comfortable handle - no sharp places. It's not uncommon for me to dislike tools because of ill-conceived handles, triggers that pinch your finger, sharp corners, too small, etc. This tool feels just right in my hand.It also comes with a quick-detach hook for attaching a strap or hook - nice touch.

6.Weight.Other than price, the only downside to this tool is, it is heavier and slightly larger than 12v or 14.4v drills - i.e., it's a little too heavy for my wife to use comfortably.(Of course, it's much more powerful, holds ½" bits, battery run-time is better, and it has that ingenious chuck.)In any case, I usually keep two cordless drills handy on jobs:this one, and a lighter/smaller (12v or 14.4v) drill for more delicate/small-hole drilling, or when working overhead extensively. The other reason for having two tools, in spite of how incredibly easy it is to change bits on the Bosch, is, to avoid having to change bits/drills as often.

7.The gears are made of steel. That's important to me because my Porter Cable 14.4v drill stripped it's weak nylon gears after a couple of years, long before the batteries wore out.P/C doesn't sell just that $3 gear of course - you had to buy an enter "gear box", as they call it.$60. Heck with that.No more P/C plastic-geared drills for me.

8.Nice plastic case, with a mini-case for bits.Everything fits, and it even has decent metal clasps.Well done.

9.Has the best warranty I've seen for such tools (and the battery), but somehow I doubt if I'll ever need it.

In summary, if it's not too heavy for you to use comfortably, you'll not find a better cordless drill. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Cordless Kit!
Overview
This combination is the best value for your money!I spent several weeks reading reviews about which 18V kit to buy.I even went to the home center to give them a feel before ordering online at Amazon.Everything in the Bosch kit felt very solid, plus for around the same price, they were the only ones throwing in a cordless jigsaw. Now that I have the cordless jigsaw, I can't imagine going back. This kit has everything (except a router) that the weekend warrior would need for cordless freedom.

Drill
Plenty of power, auxiliary handle, hammer drill, and a clip; very solid performer.Coming from an old 12V Dewalt, the drill is much heavier, but very well balanced. The hammer drill feature should not be overlooked; less than 50% of the competing kits have it.Even if it is just an occasional shelving or bracket mounting, it makes the masonry work so much easier. The only complaint I have is about the bit holder.I would like it to hold more individual bits rather than holding a bit extension holder. Also, the Ryobi drill has some nice features like a magnetic plate for holding your extra screws and level/plumb vials.I would like to see more manufacturers incorporate these types of extras.

Circular Saw
The biggest blade on an 18V and a dust port stand out on this saw.Very solid so far.Still getting use to the cut-left configuration.Nice for visibility of the cut, just haven't figured out how to hold my speed square yet.:)

Recip Saw
Very nice quick blade change. Also has a selectable blade stroke for fine or coarse cutting.Very nice to have this as a cordless tool for the places these generally end up.

Jigsaw
More than a bonus. This might be the best part of the kit. Now I know what all the fuss is about over Bosch jigsaws.Very solid, has 4 settings from very fine metal work up to extreme orbital coarse cutting. Also includes a blower that can be turned on and off as well.Very nice not having the cord catching on the edge of the work piece as you are rounding a corner.

Flashlight
As with all these kits, nothing real special here. The head pivots, and there is an extra bulb stored in the base. They could make this an LED light or incorporate a laser pointer to step it up a notch.

Charger/Batteries
Batteries are 2.4Ahr, not too shabby.I would prefer NiMH over NiCad, but the majority of manufacturers seems to be sticking with NiCad at this point.I am still debating buying an extra battery or picking up the 15 minute charger. Both of which are a heavy expense.I wish they would have included a fast charger like the Rigid kit.

Conclusion
You can't go wrong with the Bosch kit.Backed by a 3 year warranty, you see they are confident about their design.I had originally held the bag as a negative against Bosch. Now that I have it and see that it is a quality Bucketboss bag complete with 20+ pockets and shoulder strap, I would not want a plastic case.Between the jigsaw, hammer drill, warranty, and the bag, I am convinced Bosch is well beyond the others. For this, I award this kit 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ideal cordless kit
I was skeptical with the capabilities of cordless saws in all forms. After reading a couple reviews I figured I would give them a try as the convenience would prove very helpful for different jobs. The few Bosch tools I own are great so I thought I would try this package.

I have not been disappointed. All tools work flawlessly and the jigsaw is simply superb. Battery life is excellent on the drill, good on the jigsaw and decent on the reciprocating and circular saw. I am currently repiping my house and have used the reciprocating saw a lot to cut out some old galvanized pipe. It is very powerful and has two positions for stroke length which has been very handy. The drill reminds me of the diesel in my truck. It seems to run better under load. I am drilling through many joists and plates and the drill has never acted like it was getting tired and running out of juice.

Ergonomics on all tools is excellent and well thought out. Wide triggers and hand positions are comfortable even over extended use. These tools are not light though.

All of the tools met or exceeded my expectations for performance. I make it a habit to rotate the batteries in the charger and have not be caught powerless yet. My brother-in-law is a general contractor who is replacing his DeWalt gear with Bosch and gives the nod to Bosch for overall quality.

4-0 out of 5 stars B93618HDCRF-J Bosch 18V cordless combo kit
I bought this kit because of the free battery offer back in June. The kit also includes a free jigsaw. I'll give my impression of each piece below:

Hammer drill/driver - Very powerful at 475 in-lbs. in drilling mode, although both the 18V Ridgid and the Hitachi 18V are even more powerful. I think the Hitachi is at 550 in-lbs. There is a 15 step torque setting for screw driving, plus one setting for drillling, and one setting for hammer drill action. This is a powerful driver in that even setting 1 is somewhat too strong for the most delicate screws. The drill is generally well balanced, but not as well balanced as Makita's T-handled drills. Whereas the Makitas have the weight exactly balanced and centered in the middle of the hand, so that there is no tilting force either forward or backward, the Bosch hammerdrill tilts slightly forward. This results in the drill feeling heavier in the hand than a Makita of the same weight because you need to grip the Bosch tighter to counteract the tilting torque. It just feels more tiresome to hold because of the extra force needed. The least well thought out part of the drill is the auxilliary handle bar. It grips by the friction of a neoprene-like rubber band underneath a metal band. There are no grooves or notches or anything to keep the rubber band aligned on and secured to the drill. No matter how hard I clamp it, the aux. handle just wants to rotate out of alignment and come off when I have heavy duty drilling sessions because the rubber just yields under force. Those aux handles that rely on notches or grooves, such as the one on the Ridgid and Makita drills, work better and more securely. Also the speed setting slider switch is touchy at times. To change from high to low gear or vice versa, the slider switch doesn't work cripsly 100% of the time. About 1 out of 10 times or so, it doesn't engage crisply and completely. If you operate the drill when this happens you can possibly strip the gears by spinning both the high and the low gears at the same time. When it doesn't engage completely, you should slide the switch back to the previous gear and press the power trigger to rotate the gear a tiny bit and then try sliding the gear slider to the new position again. This usually fixes the hesitant gear switch problem - that is until you switch gear again. No problem like this ever happens with my Makita drill, which switches speeds crisply 100% of the time. Other than these slight annoyances, the Bosch drill works very well. It has a 1/2" chuck with carbide teeth in the grip and I like the hammer drill feature. It does feel very heavy at 6 lbs. 10 oz.

Circular saw - The saw rocks when the battery is fresh and when the blade is new and sharp, but alas the battery doesn't last too long on the circular saw. You absolutely should use a freshly charged battery as well as very sharp blade with the circular saw so that your saw doesn't stall in the middle of a cut and ruin your cut and possibly ruin the work piece as well. To that end, you should also recharge the battery before it fully dies out when using the circular saw. I had an almost fully charged battery to try to see how many 2x4 or 2x8 douglas firs I could crosscut. I think I counted around 10 to 12 2x4 crosscuts on dense douglas firs before the saw stalled. My opinion is the saw is good for remote locations where you either don't have AC power or just dread dragging that dang power cord. For general repair work, etc, where you may need to cut only a few 2x4's etc. it's okay, but I wouldn't replace the corded version with it for any serious construction work.

Reciprocating saw - it works okay, again it eats up a whole lot of battery juice in a hurry. Surprisingly it takes almost twice as long to crosscut 2x douglas firs with the recip. saw than with the jigsaw with a Progressor blade in maximum orbital mode. For most cutting works, I still prefer either the jigsaw or the circular saw because they just work faster than the recip. saw. Also, the heavy vibration of the recip. saw just gets to you after a while, but then again there are situations where only a recip. saw can do that neither a jigsaw nor a circular saw can. It does have its place under the sun.

Jigsaw - this jigsaw is absolutely the gem in this combo set. It works extremely well, cutting very powerfully. In the maximum orbital setting, it zips through 2x douglas firs in crosscut mode with a Progressor blade. The cut is very clean and very fast compared to using a recip. saw. It also can plunge cut very well, but you do so at risk of snapping a blade. The tool-less blade change is extremely quick. The short battery life also affects the jigsaw but not as badly as when using the circular or recip. saw.

Light - The light works best as a handheld flashlight, but I look at this light as free lighting if you have an extra battery anyway. Overall, it works okay, but I still prefer a quality headlamp with bright LEDs over any flashlight for hand free lighting. I paid $65 for a very fancy expedition-style backpacking headlamp at REI and it works better than any flashlight because of its nimbleness and versatility.

Charger - It's a 1-hr. charger that comes with the kit. I immediately shelled out $70 to buy an extra 15-minute charger with the fuzzy control. One hour is too long at the rate the circular saw and the recip. saw drain batteries. The fuzzy control 15-min charger will also make the batteries last through many more recharge cycles because it's gentler on the batteries, or so it claims. The drawback with the 15-min charger is that you must remove the battery as soon as it's done at around 15 mins because it's not THAT smart, as it claims. It will keep on trickle charging at a high rate once the full charge is complete. Once the 15 mins is up, the battery heats up quite dramatically rather quickly. It's this high heat near the full charge that kills batteries. So advice with the 15-min charger is to stand ready at near 15 mins to listen for the ringing buzzer that signals when the charge is full. It's a weak buzzer. If you remove the battery as soon as the buzzer sounds, the battery will be only barely warm to the touch. If you wait a few more minutes after the buzzer, the battery will heat up a lot quite quickly. Also the 1-hr. charger doens't have a ready buzzer the 15-min charger does. The 1-hr. charger only has a blinking ready light, but has no buzzer. That's another reason to get the 15-minute charger.

Nylon bag - Some folks hate the bag and would rather have a hard case, whereas some like the bag. I have mixed feelings about the bag. It's much more convenient to carry around than a hard case, but it doesn't protect your tools the way a molded hard case does. With the bag, you just lump all the tools together such that they may scratch or dent one another during transport. Because both the case and the bag have their own strong points, I ended up buying a Bosch hard case for $40 extra. It's molded to fit the circular saw, drill, light, recip. saw, fence, and charger. There is no room for the jigsaw in the case, whereas the jigsaw can fit in the nylon bag just fine.

Planer - This is not normally included in this kit, but I bought my combo set somewhere else where the merchant threw in an 18v Bosch cordless planer "for free". It's the first time I ever used a power planer and I loved it. It has a chip chute and bag that collects the shavings. There is a slight learning curve with using planers, but once mastered it gives very flat faces and edges.

Overall I love this set in spite of some minor complaints I pointed out above. I give it 4 to 4.5 stars overall. If the battery life were much better and if it included a 15-min charger and if the drill's aux. handle worked better, I'd give it 5 stars, but as it is now, it merits only 4 to 4.5 stars.

Imagine the feel of 470 inch-pounds of torque in your hand. That's what this awesome drill/driver delivers in the lock-up position, powered by a 19.2-volt battery. Because of the two-speed gearbox, you've got drill speed ranges of 0 to 500 rpm and 0 to 1,500 rpm. Its 1/2-inch chuck is keyless, and the 20-position clutch takes care of drilling into all kinds of material. Porter-Cable's drills are among the best on the market; you'll never regret a PC purchase. But here's one more reason to go with this model if you're in the market for a cordless drill/driver: the interchangeable Grip-to-Fit handle inserts. Having grappled with tool handles that were too big to control, we think this system is a great idea. There are manly sized grips included, of course, but for the woman woodworker or cabinetmaker, welcome to a delight--small grips! This package also gets you two batteries, a charger, a bit, side handles, and a case. You just can't go wrong. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Does not hold up to hard home use.
I bought this drill as a kit with the 6" saw and have been very disappointed. This drill replaced an older 14.4 V drill, which I used professionally. The 14.4 was a superior product.Even though I only use it at home, the 19.7 runs rougher, sparks a lot and has a no-brand chuck that seizes up.(unlike the Jacobs chuck on the 14.4)Even once you brake the chuck loose, it has a tight spot that after a few turns feels tight again. The only advantage the 19.7 has over the 14.4 is the battery release.

Like other users on this site, I have gone through many batteries.I have burnt up 3 batteries and one charger in 4 years. I don't even use the saw much, so the batteries have not been abused.

The only positive I give this product is the power, which saved the drill from getting one star.

It seems that nobody makes a quality cordless drill anymore and everyone has downgraded their products for Home Depot/home owner sales. Is it a coincidence that Porter Cable drills lost quality when they started having someone else build them overseas?

3-0 out of 5 stars two years later
I purchased the drill/saw combo--19.2 volt--two years ago.The
first problem was the batteries. I had trouble charging them, but upon opening them up discovered that one of the leads was no longer soldered on.I fixed that and the batteries worked well.I've had no trouble with the charger and use it every day. Now
the torque restrictor seems to have given up and I cannot drill
with full torque, making it useless for drilling larger holes.
The rubber sleeve on the chuck is chintzy and little is left of
it.I had to glue it back on after a few months.

Ok, call me a glutten for punishment. I already had the 19.2 combo with 6" saw, so I knew the batteries werejunk. They burnt out b-4 they should and the charger went bad too. As far as the saw and drill, they worked well. I was going to cut my losses and throw them away. Then I saw Amazon was throwing a third free battery in with this kit, guess they knew the batteries were junk too. Well the first battery charged o.k., but then the charger malfunctioned. I like P.C., but the batteries/charger on these units are junk and I got suckered into buying it again. Amazon is replacing thecharger though. I would not by this again even with 2 free batteries, buy
anything else. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Tipke's Fold-It cart carries up to 350 pounds of wood, soil, leaves, debris, and anything else you need to haul, and when you're done, it folds up tight to fit wherever you need to store it. Because it balances the weight of your load over the wheels, it's easy for anyone to tote and maneuver--even when fully stacked. Its sturdy aluminum construction is rust- and corrosion-resistant and cleans up quickly with a spray of the hose. The durable 20-inch pneumatic tires add stability and help it negotiate even the toughest terrain. A removable front panel allows for larger loads and easier dumping of soil or leaves. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Kinda, Sorta, Okay General Utility Cart
Hard to be passionate one way or the other about this thing.

For an item that runs more than 150 samoleans, in the long run, it appears to pull up short. But in a pinch, when it's 99 in the shade, and the wife is nagging about multi-hour sofa surfing, and the Philles are down three to two in the bottom of the ninth with Jim Thome on deck, and you've got an SUV full of funkulating dog food, 1% milk, and steaks sitting outside your detached garage, this little cart is a godsend.

Forget that it's somewhat flimsy, and that my kid's tricycle has better wheels, and that it's made of a grade of aluminum more likely found in a Shasta can meant for overseas distribution, it sometimes sets a tone like that of "the little engine that could".

I've had it for a little over a year now and find that it's good at...
1) Porting groceries
2) Carrying annuals from the back of a car to the garden
3) Carting cases of beer from a garage fridge to an indoor fridge
4) Going over paved areas

It's not so good at...
1) Hauling dirt or bricks or stone, especially across unimproved surfaces (wheels are just to thin, and it can get seriously bogged down in wet grass or dirt)
2) Pushing anything (in the "push-configuration", it is simply too unstable)
3) Collapsing into a store-able format (breaking it down is a real hassle)-- kinda funny given that's half the Tipke's sales pitch

If Tipke spent another couple of hours on the design, and could figure a way to drive-out 20or 30 dollars in cost, I'd give it a solid five stars.Until then, I'd recommend looking for other options.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Thing Going BUT----
This will be our third Foldit. (Amazon's got by far the best price at this moment--) It's a workhorse and still the best thing going that I know of BUT be aware:

1. The tires are flimsy. Get good tubes (if the tires come without them) and get a plastic strip thorn-proofer from a bike shop. It will help. Might as well get a can of flat tire spray, too, if you're going to pull it over anything rough or thorny(like berry prunings).

2. The design has a serious weak point: the rolled sides of the cart (where the handles slide in) will split at the handle-locking rivets if you habitually carry much weight (say 50 lb or so) over rough ground. This is very hard to fix and the split widens until there's a big tear and the handles fall out --permanently. That's what finally did in carts one and two. This time I'm going to try to reinforce the area around the rivets immediately, before they have a chance to start a split. Fold-it seems to outlast expensive wood carts by years despite this flaw.

3. Plan to pull the cart. Pushing as you would a wheelbarrow is hopeless. (A Fold-it is not necessarily a wheelbarrow substitute.) It's handier and better balanced by far than any deep plastic or wood cart I've tried, but it's not good at moving manure or heavy loads into the garden --the tires are narrow and sink into worked soil, and it's not made for turning in place or flipping upside down as you would a wheelbarrow. You can push it down a row empty and pull it out with a light load of weeds or produce, though.

4. You get to balance the load yourself. This is good. Some carts get heavier and pull harder as you load them. Balance the load in a Fold-it so there's weight behind the wheels and you can pull it with one finger, on hard ground.

5. The bed is a convenient height, great for taking to the orchard to bring back with heavy baskets of fruit, to the clothesline with heavy baskets of clothes, from car to kitchen door with mega-loads of groceries. Easy to load because the bed is flat and rectangular, and you don't have to lift heavy dog food bags (for instance) over the sides. You can slide them out the back with the gate off.

6. If you use the Fold-it for hauling hay, compost or weeds, expect to spend some time cleaning the fold lines if you ever need to fold it. Plan ahead if you're taking it to a horse show!

3-0 out of 5 stars it works well WHEN it works, but ...
1.
The plus side is that this thing FOLDS, which saves space during
storage, and which permits it to be carried in a bigger vehicle,
much as a boat supposedly can be carried by a ship.
While the fold feature IS a plus, it also invites p-r-o-b-l-e-m-s
(because moving parts are prone to breakdown and mismatch).
2.
Should the ability of this thing to "go away" (by folding when it
is not needed) not be essential, this reviewer would recommend a
look at the B00011SPU0 (highlight/copy/paste this into "Search").
Although the B00011SPU0 cart does-NOT fold, it has three features
- it has a nice blue color (hey, ya gotta live with it, no?)
- it ships postpaid: i.e., free shipping, though from third party
- it has puncture-proof solid rubber tires, yielding rougher ride
3.
Should you intend to store or use this thing near the seashore, I
suggest that you weigh in the salt air as a factor in the useful
lifespan of your cart. Although the aluminum supposedly* resists
corrosion, there is the (remote?) possibility that the salt air
of an ocean-front location would ROT the aluminum. ROT, not rust.
*"marine grade aluminum"
By way of comparison, the B00011SPU0 has a polyethylene tub; this
plastic is heavy-duty (and non-biodegradable!). The zinc plating
on the B00011SPU0's steel frame (galvanized to resist rust) isn't
permanent, yet your back will probably go out before the cart has
gone to the Road Warrior graveyard.
4.
I omitted one star because aluminum requires obscene amounts of
electricity (uranium or fossil fuel) to manufacture.
The other star is gone because I'd rather hand it to B00011SPU0.
5.
In case you have the determination or patience to forgo WHEELS, I
suggest that you make use of your hip joints to schlep your cargo
-in a SINGLE-wheeled wheelbarrow (more balance, less "footprint")
-in a shoulder-held coolie carrier (twin sides require dexterity)
-in a basket or padded tub atop your head (calls for sobriety)...
6.
Should you intend to use this thing anywhere near motor vehicles,
such as in a driveway or in a campground, please take the time to
affix generous amounts of conspicuous RETROREFLECTIVE tape to all
outer borders of the container. Although MUD and sludge would not
permit the beam of headlights to bounce off the carefully applied
RETROREFLECTIVE tape strips (back to the eyes of the driver), you
still stand a b-e-t-t-e-r chance of saving your Fold-It cart from
being trashed by two tons of steel than by leaving it defenseless
withOUT the 3M tape (preferably canary yellow or zebra-striped).
Apply the tapes BEFORE you first dog the cart, so that the bond
of the adhesive is stronger than when compromised by water/grit.
7.
In order to make your neighbor's cart more attractive to thieves,
mark YOUR cart by either drilling your initials, social, or home
address into a flat panel of the cart. Alternatively, borrow the
"engraving tool" (loaner unit) from your friendly peace officer.
While you're at deterring theft of your cart, take time to also
inscribe a traceable ID onto a hidden part of your nonexpendable
BICYCLES (such as on the underside of the crankshaft): PREVENTION

We can't find anything that's not to love about this caddy. The tough-as-nails fabric slips easily onto your bucket and secures literally in a second. Our favorite feature might be the phone compartment, because who among us has not propped the cell or the cordless in the flower bed while we're working, only to leave it behind? There's a cinch cord that keeps the phone snug, too. We're equally impressed with the roomy mesh compartment that stores your muddy gloves and still lets them dry. Then there are the big, deep pockets that even fit a bulb digger. Now that's roomy! Even the seed storage area is clever: There's room for nine packets, and the cover keeps them dark and dry. Larger tools like grass shears ride along easily in the bottomless pockets. And of course, you can tote soil or mulch or fertilizer in the bucket, or fill it up with tomatoes and peppers as you pick them. This is one accessory no gardener should be without.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Great for gardening. Carries all of my gardening hand tools, plus by bug spray and cell phone.

I bought this so I could stop running back and forth to the garage to get the next tool I needed.I bought a 5 gal paint bucket at home deport (orange or white) that works great!I use the inside of the bucket for knee pads and lopers and the seed packet holder on the outside for the tags that come with my plants.I was thrilled that the water bottle holder holds a 1 liter bottle, not those tiny .5 liter ones.It has plenty of pockets for your assorted garden tools and it's made out of heavy material so I look forward to many years of use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Send this one back to R&D...
It doesn't come with a bucket to wrap it around, so no big deal, eh? I've been to SEVEN stores looking for the right sized bucket...they're either too little or too big. The buckets I have looked at:10 qt., 2 1/2 gallons, 3 gallons, and 5 gallons. All but the 5 gallon bucket are too small, and the 5 gallon bucket makes the belt loopS_T_R_E_T_C_H to barely meet the velcro attachment . And the hanging hoop lock is positioned right in the middle of nowhere, so it will attach to absolutely nothing, except the handle, which renders the belt loop/velcro enclosure useless. If you buy this thing, TAKE IT TO THE STORE WITH YOU to find a @$#% BUCKET IT WILL FIT! !! ... Are you looking for a pressure washer with enough power tohandle everyday chores--such as power-washing your deck, sidewalk, patio, grill, or car--but without the hassles associated with larger,commercial-grade, gas-powered units? The Karcher K520M electric pressurewasher may provide the answer. Powered by a 120-volt, 60 Hz inductionmotor, the K520M offers adjustable pressure, with a maximum output of1,600 psi at a rate of 1.8 gallons per minute. While this might not beenough for some commercial applications, such as stripping the paintfrom an entire house, it more than suffices for everyday, at-homechores. As the world's leading manufacturer of high-pressure washers,Karcher has put a lot of care into this unit's design. At 31 pounds, theK520M is lightweight. It's also easy to use. Power to the washer iscontrolled by a trigger gun. Just releasing the trigger shuts it down. Acorrosion- and impact-resistant cover protects the motor and pumpassembly, a garden hose connector with external water filter eliminatesdebris, and a safety lock prevents the trigger from accidentallyengaging when not in use. --Carl Thress ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Karcher keeps failing
Bought a 2400PSI model G2401HB in June 04. In the first week it failed to produce pressure unless you took the nozzel off, let it build to pressure then turn it off and quickly replace the nozzle it sometimes worked. Took it back to Menards and got another one. Worked fine until September then the same thing happened. Since it was now 90 days it had to go to a service center. Guess what!!! The fantastic 2 year warranty does not cover the internal components beyond 90 days (doesn't say that on the box). A new pump costs $200 plus installation equals the purchase price of the washer. You can't call Karcher direct. All you get is some moron who reads the owners manual to you. Emailing Karcher gets no response.

1-0 out of 5 stars a piece of junk
I bought this washer to use around the deck. I've had trouble with the safety switch on the cord since day one. When it finally quit working entirely I took it to a service center recommended on the karcher web site. The repairman showed me a letter from karcher stating they no longer repaired electric washers and gave me a number to call. I called the number they gave me the name of a repair center in another state. They knew nothing about their own letter. Went home threw the karcher in the trash and bought a honda power washer. The honda works great. The product and service from karcher are terrible!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pickydick
I have a karcher power washer that I bought from another company. It was nice when it worked, but I used it at the most 6 0r 7 time in two years. It developed a leak the day after their warentee was up.I did not like the shape of the unit.It was poorly shaped and rather awkward.I've seen other makes that were nice and rectangular and had built in detergent containers. The Karcher has a hose for detergent which sticks out through a hole. When the unit developed a leak I found out that karcher puts the machies together so that you can not service them unless you have special tools (I'm not talking a torx screwdriver)to take them apart.Their website doesn't tell you how you can purchase a special tool or offer replacement parts.I wasn't going to pay someone more then the unit cost to have it fixed, if the only problem was a bad 20 cent "O" ring.I cut the cover off with an air grinder. The pump was made out of plastic. The detergent pick up was installed with an "O" ring, I thought it might be the problem.I replaced it and I finally found out that the unit had a hairline crack in it.Something that is suppose to be made to withstand 1400 psi should not be made out of plastic. It should be brass or stainless. You should be able to take the unit apart without special tools and you should be able to order replacement parts at a reasonable price.I usually try to buy tools that have a good American name. That doesn't work anymore.Go to any appliance and/or tool repair shop and you will see dozens upon dozens of items which were repaired and the repair was more than it would cost to buy the item new.I've gone through this myself.I'm a union person and up until recently have bought American tools, then I found that some of the best names in America were made in China. The no name Chinese tools turn out to be of a higher quality and cost 1/3 to 1/4 of the price.I will drill the part out that has the crack and use a hypodermic to inject epoxy into it and I will make it work. But if I ever need another power washer it will not be a Karcher. This is a 1 star minus, but they don't have that rating.Don't buy a Karcher, check out the home warehouses and look them over good. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value For The Price
These chisels (now branded as IRWIN , not Marples) are a great value. They require flattening, as all chisels do; they will not serve you right out of the box. Be sure you understand the process and flatten, sharpen and hone your chisels properly and I believe you'll find these a perfectly servicable set. There is certainly better: another reviewer mentioned Lie-Nielson which is like comparinga Ford to a Bentley. They are in another class and are priced accordingly. For the price I don't believe you'll find better. I purchased mine sans box, so I can't comment on that, but at this price the box should be considered a bonus and shouldn't really figure into your decision at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Looked cheap and fragile
Ordered these from Amazon and shipping was fast as usual. The box the chisels come in is pretty flimsy and cheaply made...don't let the fact that these chisels have a box to store them in influence your decision to buy.I had heard good things about these chisels from friends and neighbors who had them but had never seen them until I received my Amazon order.

The chisel handles are hard plastic but upon further inspection of my chisels, one of them had a crack in the plastic with some of the plastic already missing! The chisels were brand new as they had no wear marks at all!The plastic had cracked all the way down to the metal and that was enough of an omen for me to return them! The chisels just look cheaply made to me.

Returned to Amazon and went to Sears and bought some Craftsman chisels...I am VERY happy with them.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
This product is very expensive for what you get. A thick vinyl tarp, 55 feet of garden hose, and 2 stickers called tire guards.
I'm not sure exactly how this pad is made but it has to be the same material as a "Slip n Slide....Remember the long tarp you used to go sliding 90 miles an hour across the lawn on. This is the same thing. DO NOT walk on it with wet shoes or snow on your boots. It's so slippery that my car actually slides about 6 inches before coming to a stop after I pull in from a snowy day.

It does hold the water and sludge but not worth the money or injuries that could result.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Results from Carpads
I have used three Carpads and am now ordering another for a family member. My experience with Carpads is entirely favorable.I live in Wyoming where winters last 7 to 8 months, and cars often accumulate large quantities of snow and chemical slush that then melts onto the garage floor. The Carpads reliably contain this runoff.Small punctures and cuts can are readily repairable with duct tape. With reasonable car, my Carpads last at least five seasons.I have also used competing products, and they did not perform as well as Carpads.

1-0 out of 5 stars vinyl sheet and green hard plastic garden hose?????
By far the most disappointing thing I have ever bought from Amazon.com

Vinyl itself is very soft and light and flaps around even when you place it on the ground.

This cheap piece of viny has a folded edge where you are supposed to insert pieces of supplied garden hose to make the border!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Starter!
Found this combo on clearance for $130 at Lowes 1 year ago and couldn't pass it up.Never used one before but in no time I am up and running making nice edges with minimal effort! No complaints!

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid value
I bought this kit a couple of months ago and have used it for one project. The first thing I was surprised be was how quite it was. I had used a 690 router years ago, and it screamed. This is much quieter.

The soft start is nice and smooth. The lever release works well, big improvement over the thumb screw setup on the 690.

The plunge base works well, the springs are stiffer than they need to be. It would have been nice to have a lever release on the plunge base, not an allen screw. If you are going to changing between the bases frequently, that would be an issue.

I agree with the other reviewer that Porter-Cable should have sent a sub base with a wider opening with one of the bases, you don't need two the same. I just widened one of the holes to fit my 1/2" roundover bit.

Overall this is a great router and a good value, definetly worth considering.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice but not great
I've been replacing my bargain Sears tools with those of better quality.Couldn't be happier with my other assortment of PC tools (nailers, saws, and drill). The router comb is definately nice, but not nearly as big of a step as I expected over a $59 Sears router.Depth adjustment is definately a big improvement, but took a step back by not having a locking collet (need both wrenches) for bit changes.

Bought at a sales rep demo and got the dust collection base thrown in for free.It is better than nothing, but I wish I would have looked closer at the Dewalt set-up.

Bottom line, does the job, but falls a little short of my high expectations for PC tools. ... Read more

Editorial Review

While mowing the lawn may never be considered a recreational activity, this rear bag mower from Black & Decker makes the chore as close to fun as it will ever get. With its 24-volt battery, which delivers 5-horsepower gas equivalent at peak torque, this cordless electric mower represents the top of Black & Decker's line of lawn mowing products. During our field tests, this orange powerhouse stood out above other mowers for ease of use and performance. Its versatile operation allowed us to mulch, bag, or expel the debris from its 19-inch cutting path. Switching between the three methods was as easy as removing the catch bag and the mulch plug--easily performed tasks when the mower is not running.

The most obvious difference between the new generation of electric mowers and the heavier gas-powered mowers of yore is the start-up. The ease with which this mower starts is almost stupefying. Simply pull and hold the thin handle lever, then pull the ignition lever, and presto!--the engine is running. To minimize safety risks to young children, a removable safety key must be inserted prior to starting the mower.

Once started, this mower runs like a dream and is much quieter than older gas-powered models. In addition to the lack of noise, vibrations were also dampened by the cushioned handgrips, a feature that makes mowing a much more comfortable experience. Another innovation is the method by which the mower is raised and lowered. Where once it was necessary to adjust each wheel individually, the height of the mowing platform is now controlled by a single squeeze of a single lever, which allows for seven positions from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches. While this mower is much lighter than a gas mower, we did find that this Black & Decker cordless model, weighing in at 76 pounds, is heavier than its corded relatives.

The only disadvantage this machine seems to have is in the power department. While there were no serious problems during our field test, it was necessary to slow down or go back over thicker sections of grass in order to make a completely clean cut. This cordless model also requires a substantial charging time when first out of the box: the manufacturer suggests at least a 16-hour period initially in order to get peak performance and maximum run time. According to Black & Decker, the battery will be 70% energized with four hours of charging. When fully juiced, this mower can be expected to cut between 1/2 and 1/3 of an acre per charge. Though the charge is one aspect that needs to be considered when deciding whether to purchase a corded or a rechargeable mower, we found the added maneuverability of the cordless over the corded model far outweighs the inconvenience of charge times.

When you've finished mowing, the handles fold back, making it easier to store this mower in a tight garage or shed. It comes with a 30-day no-risk satisfaction guarantee and a manufacturer's full two-year warranty. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Loved the Mower Until the Battery Died
I have had this mower for three seasons.Like all rechargeable products, the battery has worn out.I don't mind replacing batteries - it is just a fact of life.Unfortunately, Black & Decker has chosen to charge $100 for the new battery plus a small service charge to have it put in the unit.If anyone knows a less expensive replacement let me know.

So, essentially you have to pay the purchase price of this mower over again every 8 years.By that I mean you need a new battery every 2 years - or 4 batteries in 8 years for a total of over $400.Remember, my battery died on my third year mowing a 1/3 acre lot (in Minnesota, so a short summer followed by harsh winter).By last year the battery was nearly useless - two charges was necessary to do the whole yard even with short, dry grass (read:entire weekend of mowing).

One could also think of this as buying a new mower every 4-5 years, which is silly.Older gas mowers lasted 20+ years.New ones with good motors last just as long.A mower should be a minor investment of money, time, and energy.

One additional problem was dealing with wet or long grass - this is true even with a perfect battery. It is just a fact of life that everyone has a busy month now and then and can't mow any other time than when it is either wet or after the grass has gotten too long.A good gas mower just uses more gas but can take the job. This mower can't do the job.Even if you get the mower to cut the wet or long grass for a time, you'll run out of power before you are done and need to charge the thing back up to finish the job.

Oh, and this last summer I often found myself double-cutting the grass to get a clean cut. This is because the mower just wasn't delivering the same power to the blade (yes, I did replace the blade this spring). In other words, you can't just live with the lower power given off by a dying battery.

Two additional problems that exist with even a new battery - the rear bagger is fairly useless.Of course, I hate rear baggers, especially when you don't have a self-propelled unit.Ever drag around a heavy bag of grass on a hot day?Not fun.In addition, this mower is useless on leaves with or without the bag.It doesn't have the power to mulch them into the grass or bag them if you've grown addicted to that that tactic as a way to avoid raking.

Now, having said all that, I simply loved using this mower when it worked well.It is very quiet, not at all smelly, and very easy to use.I could literally mow in dress clothes.Don't laugh - sometimes you're in a hurry.

Now, if Black & Decker would lower the cost of the battery or better yet replace it with a Li-ion battery, I'd keep using the unit.As it is, right now I'm considering buying a gas mower.

5-0 out of 5 stars Early thought - yes !
Received this recently, so I can't speak for the "long term" - but even a dummy (like me) was able to take it right out of the box and get excellent results at the start. So far at least, I definately prefer it over my old gas powered mower, every bit as powerful without the hassle.

4-0 out of 5 stars Light hungry machine
Love it.It is light, easy to use and I am saving by doing it myself as opposed to using a lawn care service. The only two things I do not like about it is that it is somewhat awkward to remove and inset the bag and the hookup for the electrical power is very small and the hold tab for the power cord is so flimsy it breaks easily, otherwise no complaints. But performance is great so far. It does the job. One handle level adjustment is a breeze. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Here's another clever, innovative product from the people who brought you the inflatable airbed, the battery-powered fluorescent light, the cordless rechargeable spotlight, rotating carwash brush and the 12-volt cooler/warmer, among other things. This Car Cozy heated blanket is just the right size for two people, whether in the front or back seats. Its low-amp draw won't affect your vehicle's other features, but it's enough to toast up this fleecy blanket. It measures about 42 by 58 inches, and we can imagine how great it would be on a crisp night at the drive-in movies, on a nippy winter night, or even for the more frail passengers who can't tolerate air-conditioning when every one else is sizzling. A great idea.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Blanket does not get warm enough to make it better than any good quality regular blanket. Also, It gave off an unpleasant odor, a fuel like smell.

3-0 out of 5 stars so far, so good
I bought this for transporting a large musical instrument over long drives in the winter. So far it seems to have worked. My gripes so far are: 1. small.at least for the instrument.I got a second one, but for most folks using this for the "regular" reasons, it should be ok.A little larger would still be nice though.2. the plug fell apart.I was able to reassemble it, but it shouldn't have twisted apart on the third use.3. no temp control. It would be nice for the ability to set it on different temps, but this one heats to one temp only.It isn't too hot or anything, but sometimes I'd like to be able to regulate it more.4. it heats quicker when it is folded up.When it isn't, it may take a long time.

Overall, it seems to be a good purchase.Time will tell and I may need to update this, but it is pretty good. ... Read more
