Editorial Review

Unveil this secret weapon with the flick of a switch and establish a strong beachhead against dust in your home or shop. Powered by a 1-horsepower, 115-volt induction motor, Jet's 650 cfm dust collector comes with 2.67-cubic-foot bags that grab particles 30 microns and larger. The 9-3/4-inch steel blower wheel is stout enough to handle larger particle-producing applications. The entire unit sits conveniently on easy-to-roll casters, so moving it around the shop is no problem. A unique feature separating Jet's dust collectors from the competition is how easily the lower bag can be removed and reattached. There's a handy flexible metal band that snaps quickly into place--which is a hundred times easier than wrestling with cinch straps. The machine stands only 66 inches tall and is ideal for small shops. There's only one dust port; you have to set up to larger models for two ports. A great carpenter once referred to sawdust as "the indomitable scourge silently mounting in woodshops nationwide." Well, now there's something you can do about it. --Justin Paul ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition to my shop
After setting up the dc650, I couldn't believe i waited so long to get one. I was using a 6HP shop vac, and I figured that would be good enough for my tools. Bad idea... i ended up with a lot of saw dust clogs in my planer, band saw, and especially planer (dw 735 -- an awesome machine) which instantly clogged the shop vac pipes. this dust collector is significantly quiter and far stronger. using 4" is also much nicer than the 2" shop vac tubes.

Note that the unit doesn't come with any tubing ... you'll want to buy some lengths of 4" tubing (not dryer vent tubing get dust collector tubing, preferably clear so you can make sure there are no clogs) and some 4" hose clamps. For my set up, i've put in a variety of hard 4" pipes (sewer pvc) and then put in blast gates, t's, etc and various reducers to hook up to all of my equipment. since my shop space is limited, i move the dust collector around to hook up in to my hard runs or machines directly. my areas is way cleaner and my tools are way happier. get one!

3-0 out of 5 stars JET DC-650/708640
I bought this Dust Collector just about a year ago. First, I found it almost inpossible to get the standard 30 micron filters to snap in place. On advice from another owner on this forum I purchased a set of 5 micron bags from Penn State Industries to cut down on dust escaping through the filter bags. These bags although they were advertised to fit the DC 650, by the time you got them in place and sealed with the spring loaded 20" retaining clips you end up with bunched up pleats which allow dust to escape through. The DC 650 does work well to collect the saw dust produced while sanding on my Powermatic 2442 lathe but I think there are better designed collectors out there that for a few more dollars wouldn't have these design deficiencies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Collector For The Small Shop
I've had mine for years and it works great. I use primarily at the Miter Saw since that's the only tool in my shop that is stationary. For any small shop it works great. This used to be my DC for my basement shop before I moved into the garage. The only problem I had with it was on my belt/disc sander. It didn't pick up the dust that well but the there was roughly 25 feet of hose and PVC to go thru. Not the DC's fault. Overall, I'd recommend it for any small shop ... Read more

As any gardener knows, even the best-laid plans for spending a day with the soil can be ruined by the necessity for repeated trips to the house or shed for the proper equipment. With the Step 2 Garden Hopper, however, it's possible to pack everything you need for a full day's gardening and take it all wherever you go. The Garden Hopper features an extremely sturdy seat that's just high enough to offer a comfortable perch yet low enough to keep you close to your garden. While a molded carrying handle is included within the seat itself, the Hopper's 7-inch wheels make it simple to scoot about without rising. With its sturdy double-wall construction, the Garden Hopper is strong enough to take a lot of rugged treatment. Beneath the seat is a large storage space, perfect for holding your gloves, tools, seeds, cellular phone, and other accessories you may need. In addition, this handy garden helper includes a built-in holder for a 12-ounce beverage, eliminating the need to run back into the house for refreshment. The Garden Hopper measures about 14 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide, and about 22 inches long. --Benjamin Reese ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Small storage area for tools, seat and cupholder are great.
This is a sturdy cute little addition to my gardening tool collection. Theseat is perfect for clipping grass around flower beds. The cup holder is a wonderful idea, now I finish my margaritas not the roses. A warning though, the storage area under the seat is very small. Even a small hand weeder will stick out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Some good features BUT
This thing is amazingly lightweight, yet incredibly strong. For us old geezers, it's built a bit low to the ground and doesn't move well over grass or dirt when you're sitting on it (if your garden is cement ... never mind).
My two major comments are that my five year old loves the thing to ride around on. He also loves it because, despite the lid being closed, if you leave it out in the rain or snow, it fills with water. thus imitating those little naked cherubs in the fountains when he rides the front wheels over the edge of the sidewalk. Tinkle like a race horse, indeed! But, very funny in a juvenile sense of humor.
So, if you place things inside the Garden Hopper, they will get wet and rusted if metal and ruined if leather (like garden gloves, say). Several items made by Step 2 for kids have better waterproof lids. Just watch at bath time. Wrong engineering for the wrong products, maybe?
I'd look around for better designed products or "always store your stuff out of the rain" as my dad would say.

4-0 out of 5 stars Portable, Yet Solid
All you have to do is pick this thing up to know that it's hollow plastic parts. And all you need to do is sit on it once to know that this is one solid little stool.

The manufacturer's catalog that came in the box shows that their other products are children's toys that are built for punishment, yet no so dangerous that they'd crush a child. They've carried that same quality construction through to this little stool.

The wheels are a little on the small side to carry my 230-lb body across a patch of healthy lawn with ease, but it wasn't so difficult that I would have to stand up and move it, either.

I find it a tad inconvienent to reach under the seat to get to tools. There is a cup holder on the outside, but it's design is such that it isn't good for anything but cups or cans. The one thing I'd like to see here is some other sort of outside storage for tools instead of the cup holder.

The all-weather plastic means you can leave it outside, but it's lightweight design means you can store it on an upper shelf, too.

All in all, the solid, but lightweight construction makes this one a keeper. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Second set
Such a good collection at such a good price,
that when my first set was stolen, I had no
hesitation in ordering a second.

4-0 out of 5 stars Seem great so far
I just received this tool set last week and have yet to put it to real use, but so far it seems great. All of the tools feel very sturdy, not light and flimsy like a lot of bargain tools. They sure feel like they will hold up through whatever abuse I manage to put them through. The set contains every hand tool I can imagine needing as just your average guy.At the price, it even makes sense to keep one in the car and one at home, you never know when you might need a 14mm socket while on the road,.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT gift for new home-owners!
This set is GREAT!It's got a TON of different wrenches and 3/8-inch drive sockets. This set is especially good as a gift for those people who are just moving in to their first home and don't have a ton of tools yet.It comes in a very nice custom plastic storage case with a spot for each tool, so its easy to carry around and put away so you can stay organized! This set has been a lifesaver around my house - I highly recommend it! ... The engine light comes on. Why? Actron’s AutoScanner can tell you by retrieving trouble codes from your vehicle’s computer. The scanner is compatible with all cars and light trucks sold in the United States from 1996 through now. A large, easy-to-read liquid crystal display shows the trouble code and its definition, clearing the code and turning off the trouble light at the same time. The attached diagnostic cable provides both data and power connections. The menu-driven interface combined with "hot keys" for read and erase functions make this tool very easy to use.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost mandatory for modern vehicles!
The engine in my 2000 Ford F-150 Supercab started dying frequently, the dreaded "check engine" light came on and I did not want to take another $$$ trip to the dealers service department. So I do a little research on OBD and bought an Actron CP9135 OBDII AutoScanner at an excellent price.Plug it in, retrieve the "P1507" code, which translates to "Idle Air Control System Underspeed Error (Ford)".I check the IAC sensor and discover it's not plugged in right.I fix this connection and the problem disappears! If you have a modern (post 1996) vehicle and you do a little of you own auto work (turn a wrench now and then) you need this OBD box.Actron makes an excellent product at a very good price. (If you have an check engine light on - you need a OBD box!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Has saved me big bucks!!
I bought this because my wife's car is always running its check engine light and I never know what's wrong.Every time I brought it to her dealer it cost me as much as this tool.I wish I had this thing two years ago, I would have saved myself 200 bucks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent function and quality, price a little high
I bought this becasue my Ford constantly pops it's Check Engine light. Considering the visit to the dealer is around 3/4 of a bill each time, I figured this would equal two trips to the dealer.

It does a nice job of reading the codes and resetting. It also does a nice job of monitoring the sensors. What it will not tell you is exactly how to fix your problem in many cases. I am an ex-service manager (from the pre-techno era) and reasonably accomplished mechanic. Even I have to do research after collecting the code. Determine WHY you have a particular sensor reading. Different things can trip the same sensor.

This is a well built tool to help you in your diagnosis. It is not the automatic answer machine some people may assume it to be.

I think this tool should sell for under a bill. That detracts one star. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good quality, great price
I don't know what some of these people are compaining about. This product does an excellent job.I attached it to the wall in my garage near an outlet and now I have power anywhere.I did have a little difficulty getting my 100' of heavy duty extension cord to coil up properly the first time but it's worked great since I got it in the basket.Easy to use and seems sturdy enough.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I bought this a couple of years ago. It's a nice idea, but I am disappointed with how it works. If the jacket on your extension cord is at all wet, like when I rewind the cord after using my electric snow blower, it won't catch and rewind the cord. The reel will just spin.I have to press as hard as I can on the black thingy to even get it to engage under normal circumstances.Yeah it's sturdy, and when it works it is cool, but I am disappointed with how inconsistent it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why did I not buy this years ago?
A handy little gadget.I use it to store 100' of medium duty cord for my snow thrower.Works great. It feeds out only the amount of cord I need and then I just put tension on the handle and start winding.Works flawlessly! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Super little caving light
Having had numerous flashlights for my caving adventures, I can say this is a great little light. Not powerful little fellow. I have had 3 of these and they can clip to pretty much anything, keychains, purses, backpacks and helmets. I have had mine clipped to my helmet so I had one in easy reach whenmy other 'bigger' lights were hooked to my camos and are submerged in water or mud. These do not like water, but do not say water, something I should have known, my bad! My only complaint and reason for 4 stars is that the clips are made of plastic, heavy duty, but still plastic.I have given 3 as gifts, great card stuffers, and each person still has theirs in working condition. So maybe I am harsh on mine, they do get bumped in the caves.I do plan to buy more, so the plastic issue is not that bad. These are great for any purpose, enjoy.

You've got to love combo kits, and this one might reign supreme in the contracting world. The king of recip saws, Milwaukee delivers here with their awesome cordless Hatchet Sawzall model with a six-position pivoting handle. The tool is only 13 inches long when fully pivoted, letting you cut between 16-inch on center studs, as well as between rafters and joists, with very aggressive orbital action. You'll like the super quick and easy blade changes, too. The 18-volt 6-1/2-inch circular saw easily cuts 2-by material at a 45-degree bevel in just one pass and packs plenty of power. The saw's excellent balance, all-metal upper and lower guards, and rigid aircraft aluminum shoe add durability you can feel. The soft-grip handle feels great in hand and dampens vibration. The hammer drill features reversible battery for working in tight spaces and, we think, better balance, too. The soft grip reduces pressure points and absorbs tool vibration, too--a nice feature considering the tool's got 495 inch-pounds of torque and up to 1,700 rpm. Last, the handy multiposition flashlight has a nice, strong beam and stays where you put it. Everything fits in the roomy, rugged bag–ready for transport when the work is done.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Carpenter from MT
Excellent kit.Bought this about 3 months ago and I use it regularly.I hesitated to buy it at first because it only came with a soft case, but has its advantages. The shoulder strap frees up a hand on the way in, and the pockets hold my drill bits, spade bits, and counter-sinking kit.The kit itself works great. The circular saw cuts through anything, is comfortable to use, and makes many cuts before needing a battery change. The blade guard originally blocked my line of sight on the right hand side of the blade, so I used the sawzall with a metal-cutting blade to make a minor adjustment.Better than stock. Not a big deal, but there are just some times that you need to make a cut on the opposite side. The drill has enough torque to break your wrist, but like people have mentioned, there is no place to hold a bit - designers must've come to work tanked that day.Sawzall is great for getting into those hard-to-reach places. We've had DeWalt and Makita kits on the job and had to use the ol' hatchet to get the job done. The others guys' are just to long n' bulky.I like the orbital action, too.Makes a difference.Flashlight works well, but, really - as long as it turns on how good can it be, right?I got a great deal on this kit.The Home Depot had this kit on sale for $369 plus a free mail-in tool.I opted for the multi-bay charger and it works great.I don't think I could run out of batteries if I tried (I purchased a battery double-pack off ebay for $100).I've heard other guys talk down about these kits.My guess is they've been abused.Tools are supposed to be tough, but if you leave 'em in pouring rain, saturate them in sawdust, use a circular saw instead of a chainsaw, etc...they're going to break.Take care of your tools, fools.I have and they've performed flawlessly.I'd recommend this kit to anyone that wants a great cordless set from the best name in tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tools - thanks Milwaukee
I received my combo kit, in record time I might add. I am excited about the new tools. I have used all the tools in the kit. The circular saw is really handy. The sawsall is great for getting into tight places. Anyone would be happy with this collection of tools. Great job Milwaukee....

If you use your random-orbit sander on a fairly regular basis, you probably go through a lot of sanding pads. This is true not only because the pads wear out but because they pick up so much dirt and debris. The Baxter Creek SS001 Sander Sitter is designed to extend the life of those sanding pads by cleaning and restoring them to health. Just place your running sander onto the unit while you adjust your work piece, and let the Sand Sitter's crepe rubber pad polish the sanding disc clean. You can also use it after you've finished a job to eliminate wind-down time when you turn the sander off. The Sand Sitter holds firmly to any flat surface and can be bench-mounted if you prefer. It works on all 5-inch random-orbit disc palm sanders and can extend a sanding disc's life by as much as 400 to 500 percent. --Carl Thress ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Why did I buy this??
Can't remember why I thought I needed this sander sitter. You have to set the sander down in it perfectly or it spins off the bench. If using a variable speed on highest setting the whole thing will "walk" off the bench if you leave it running more than a few seconds. First time my sander hit the floor I was a little more than upset. The whole mech is too light. As for the cleaning aspect, with the new stearite disks you can get, here on Amazon and from suppliers like Klingspor, you are hard pressed to ever load em up anyway. It's another one of those "good ideas" that just doesn't transfer from concept to actual use very well. If you just really have to have one, let me know, I'll send ya mine for the cost of postage. Can't recommend this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yes, this actually works
It seems odd that you need to 'break in' this simple device but you need to. After following the directions, it works like a charm.

I make a lot of small stuff and I continually need to stop and rotate the part in the vise. I was doing these small spindles for a bookcase. 4 spindles x 4 rows x 2 sides x 4 sides per spindle = a helluva lot of time waiting for the sander to wind down. This thingamajiggie probably cut down the time needed by half. Really. No kidding.

If time is money, this investment started making profits for me the first day I owned it. Still, it seems awfully expensive for what it is. So, it only gets 4 stars.

UPDATE: I paid $24 for mine. I see that these are now selling for about $15. So, I'd give it a five.

5-0 out of 5 stars This really works!!!
This is truly a good product.I had a little trouble at first,it wanted just to shake in the carousel. I called the manufacturer (Baxter Creek Tools) to inquire about it. They were a great help. It seems that I didn't fan the paper disc upward with the palm of my hand enough, as per the instructions. Apparentlypaper comes in all different sizes, some a little smaller than 5" and some a little larger than 5", The Sander Sitter will actually roll the paper automatically but it has to have some room in the carousel to start with in order for it to work properly, according to the guys at Baxter Creek. After that it did spin like it was suppose to.This is great because it allows me to set my sander down while running for a momment, to move my project around. My sander is a little older and the braking mechanism is worn, and it seems like forever when I shut it off to come to a stop. Now with the Sander Sitter, it allows me to shut off my sander and set it down and go on to the next job without waiting. My sander winds down safely to a stop in the carousel. All this does save me time. And remarkably it does clean my paper extending the life of the disc. If you have a ROS. this is a good purchase. ... Tool nirvana--an entire workshop in a box! There's no craftsman on the planet who doesn't want this quad pack. What's not to love? A full 19.2 volts of power will do away with fasteners as if you had a jackhammer in your hand, and 470 inch-pounds of torque provides all the drive power you'll need. Because of the two-speed gearbox, you've got drill speed ranges of 0 to 500 rpm and 0 to 1,500 rpm. Its 1/2-inch chuck is keyless, and the 20-position clutch takes care of drilling into all kinds of material. The Saw Boss 6-inch circular saw is powered by the same workhorse 19.2-volt battery--you'll need a break long before your battery will. And at 2,600 rpm, the premium 6-inch thin-kerf, carbide-tipped blade will have you making 100 crosscuts on two-by-fours on a single charge, so you may even be done before you need that break. The new cordless Tiger Saw has an ingenious, tight design that's perfect for cutting into drywall between studs. And blade changes are quick and easy because of the keyless blade clamp. The cherry on top is the powerful flashlight that sits on a stable base, allowing the pivoting head to light up your workpiece. All four tools are run by the interchangeable 19.2-volt batteries. The package includes two batteries, an interchangeable handle grip for all hand sizes, an advanced diagnostic charger, and a carrying case. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic drill and flashlight... The rest is just so-so.
By the title alone, you should be able to tell that I like the drill most of all in this package. It is indeed VERY powerful and the hammer-drill function really powers through concrete block (common wall material here in Florida).

The flashlight is also nicely designed in that it has a movable head and takes advantage of the flat base of the battery.

I will also say that the "Tiger Saw" recip. saw has proven it can cut through any nail I have thrown it at, but if you have more than a few to cut , put it away and lay out the exten. cable and pull out the 120V recip. saw, as both batteries will go dead trying to cut out more than one door frame or a couple fence posts.

The circular saw is the weakest part of the package, as I expected it would be. It sucks batteries dry even faster than the Tiger Saw and is in my humble opinion underpowered even at 19.2 volts. However, I have spoiled myself by using the best quality corded circular saws over the years, so that should be of little surprise.

Now, I am lead to the real weakness with this package... the batteries and their charger... Only thr flashlight and the drill (when using in wood) hold up long enough to get one or two jobs done. The batteries also wear out and go "bad" far too quickly and at their insanely high replacement price, are hardly worth it. They also have a rather annoying design, which while better than some competitors designs, still leave somthing to be desired. The worst part is the recharger, which only can charge on battery at a time and takes about an hour to fully charge (when the battery is completely discharged).

I have had this tool set for going on three years now, and it has taught me to appreciate corded tools for their true worth as inexpensive, more powerful and longer lasting! I only use tools from this package when I only need to use them for a VERY brief period or when a corded tool is simply more trouble than taking an hour long break to wait for the battery to recharge.

My personal reconnemdation would be to forego this particular kit and go with one that doesn't include the circ. and recip. saws. Or, if a cordles saws are a requirement, carefully consider other brands and/or a 24V system. Also, while I am VERY pleased with the drill overall, if I had it to do over, I would have chosen a brand with less expensive replacement batteries and a 15-30 minute charger that can charge 2 batteries at once.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money...
I bought the driver and saw kit and the hammer drill kit. In the first year I replaced the drill/drivers three times...while under warranty. The saw worked well and the flashlight was the best part of this kit. Now it is a couple years old and all four batteries are dead and at $90 each I am not replacing them. One of the chargers died too. I bought Hitachi this time with a five year warranty. I wasted $600 on the Porter Cable junk. I noticed that most stores are not carrying this line anymore, doubtless due to massive warranty returns.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Test
I bought both the Dewalt 18 volt combo pack and the Porter-Cable 19.2 volt combo pack. I also purchased 4 2X6 to test the two combo kits on. I used a 1 inch drill bit for both.
The Dewalt made 39 holes. While my Porter-Cable combo pack was coming in, I decided to test my 2-year-old Porter-Cable 14 volt hammer drill. It made an astounding 28 holes. I immediatly returned the Dewalt to the store because the Porter-Cable only made 11 holes less. The new, 19.2 Porter-Cable Drill made a whopping 60 holes, 21 more then the new Dewalt drill. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great when they come with all the parts...
These cabinets are great if they come with all the parts.I ordered three of them with Amazon and all of them came in boxes that were damaged and opened. One of the three did not come with all the parts and did the box was destroyed beyound the ability to use it to ship it back.Amazon was helpful in the return only after I insisted that they take it back instead of making it a rubbermaid issue.

I do have to say that the units that did come with all the parts are working as promised. They are a little rough around the edges since they are formed plastic, but overall I think they are great for general storage purposes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Product Good Delivery Bad
I ordered three of these cabinets through Amazon since I had bought one previously at Target and liked it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly the product they sold at Target, and not packed the same way either. They all arrived when I was not home and were in boxes that were in such bad condition (due to only 1/8 inch thick cardboard and NO packing material), the UPS man would not even take them to the door, but left them on the driveway. As I tried to take them inside my house, the boxes continued to disintegrate. The front of one box must have completely come off at one point in the shipping process as it was taped on all sides. That box was missing two of the poles needed.Amazon was no help--kept telling me I needed to contact Rubbermaid. The boxes were so bad I couldn't even return the item unless I paid for all new shipping materials. And this would be no small task, as this is a BIG cabinet and one would have to find a very larger container to put these items in so one could take them to a shipping company to properly pack.

I have been buying things for years at Amazon and this truly has been the worst experience to date.

3-0 out of 5 stars Rubbermaid needs to redesign it's packaging
Although this product is a great storage solution, the packaging is inadequate at best. My unit arrived in a shredded, low-grade cardboard box, with a massive quantity of tape applied by the UPS delivery people. I tried in vain to assemble the unit but the panel corners were crushed. Again, not the fault of Amazon.com but a combination of poor packaging by Rubbermaid and poor handling by UPS.
I'd recommend that you plan on being home when your unit arrives and refuse the delivery if there is any external damage. Once you open this item you'll never get it back in the box. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars very slow, but convenient
it's a realy slow driver, but it has applications for those really tight areas.it does exactly what i expected it to do and meets my requirements.it's a little expensive but when you need it, it works.torque is good and it is strong, just soooo slow

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Tool
I almost did not buy this after the DRIVING in EUROPE review, what a mistake that would have been. The tabs on the battery are recessed in a concave and are pretty well protected from damage and the plastic is industrial grade. It would require some extraordinary bad luck to break them and they hold very securely.

The driver has great power and is very smooth operating, the precision concentricity, is noticeable.I have owned other cordless screwdrivers and this is the best of them so far, second was my Blue Point. This little powerhouse can drive a 3" screw into pine.I could never have gotten close with my others. As for the fellow who was going to buy the DeWalt, I looked at it and even though I love DeWalt, the screwdriver is too big and clumsy for what I use a screwdriver for.The things the DeWalt would be used for are better handled by my Drill Driver.

Is this perfect, no.I have big hands and the Metabo is big.Making the switch vertical might be better, would not know until I tried it.If you feel it is too big for your hand you can always choke up on it a little and operate the switch with your middle finger. As for the plug in charger it is good quality, but I would prefer a drop in.By the way this is available from Metabo, in the form of an adapter and one of their full size chargers, which will charge faster and give the battery longer service life.

I like this tool, and like any tool, the user adapts to it the longer it is used. The clutch tames the power for lighter work, and the power is there if you need it.The build quality keeps the bit turning in a circle instead of a loose wobbling movement. This makes it easier to use, as the screw does not wobble either. The speed of this driver is fine for me, only the DeWalt and the Panasonic offer varying speeds anyway and the Panasonic is a two speed.I intend to be happy with this tool for some time to come, but everyone looks for different things in their tools. If you are interested in this driver give it a try, you wont be sorry.

1-0 out of 5 stars A cordless screwdriver with serious design flaws
This screwdriver has three serious flaws.

First, it is a bulky handful. You need to have an immense hand to hold it easily.

Second, the switch is ill placed and awkward to use.

Third, and most important, it has only one speed and that is top speed. So you spend much of your time trying to reset the blade (Phillips or not) in the head of the screw after the blade pops out.And it pops out because the Metabo only operates at full speed. The best way to use it is to preset the screw with a regular screwdriver and then use the Metabo.

But that's a waste of time.

I'd return mine for a refund if I could find the receipt.

So don't buy it.Look instead at the Dewalt.Same price, better features. ... Read more

Don't confuse lightweight with light duty. If we had to assemble a basic tool kit for a homeowner, apartment dweller, or do-it-yourselfer, everything we'd choose is already right here. Now, just because they're smaller and easier to handle, don't assume they can't get the job done. The 7-ounce hammer will drive a nail just like a 20-ouncer, but without the wrist strain. We like the lifetime guarantee, always a plus in our book. Speaking of books, a great little guide comes with the kit and fits neatly in the case. Last but not least, the translucent blue case is cool—a place for everything, including the included assorted hardware, like picture hangers and wall anchors.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Empowering Product
I recently purchased this tool kit as a bridal shower gift for my friend. She loves it!When she opened the present at the party, she actually used it to fix a broken chair.I ended up buying it for myself. While comfortable to use, you don't feel like the tools are going to fall apart.I'm so happy I don't have to ask for help in putting up picture frames and fixing things around my apartment.A great buy for those who want to feel empowered and especially for those with lazy landlords...

I have purchased this kit as a Christmas gift for my oldest daughter who just went to college. She loves it.It has come in so handy around her dorm that 3 of her friends have actually bought this kit.

I was so impressed I bought one for around the house for my wife and I.We both use it and love it.The tools are lightweight but they take a beating.

I would recommend this toolkit for anyone. If need be I would purchase this kit again in a heartbeat.

With 225 mph of maximum force, the Toro Ultra Blower is a three-in-one machine--blower, vacuum, and leaf shredder--that's ready to rip through leaf-covered lawns with the power of a small hurricane. Better yet, you'll likely find it to be not only one of the most powerful lawn tools in your garage, but one of the most versatile as well. To facilitate the different uses, the blower comes with a quick-release latch for easy conversion as well as infinitely variable air control. In addition, the metal impeller mulches leaves with fearsome efficiency, reducing 16 bags of leaves down to a single bag. For those looking for a blower that'll make quick work of acres of matted-down leaves, Toro's Ultra Blower is up to the task. --Rivers Janssen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic blower - don't play w/the variable speed
After less than a dozen uses, the variable speed switch burned out. I had this repaired at a local warranty service center and the blower now works great. My advice is to use this blower in either the high or low setting but do not play with the fine (variable) adjustments in between. The variable speed control will not lock in at any midpoint setting and I suspect this is what caused mine to burn out (vibrations cause the control to oscillate).

This is a very good blower for general homeowner use. I primarily use this to clean my swimming pool deck (vac mode), and to blow leaves out of my driveway, raingutters and mulched areas. It is not practical for clearing leaves in a large yard. For that, you should look for a commercial unit with a high air volume (Stihl, Husqvarna). This is a trade off for cost, weight and noise.

I am very happy with this machine despite the trouble that I experienced. I would make this purchase again.

4-0 out of 5 stars We love this blower/vacuum
Believe it or not, this was a gift we purchased for each other as an anniversary gift! This hummer really hummmmms! We find it efficient and tireless. We've used the mulcher for small oak branches, oak leaves and general yard debris. The metal impaler is worth the price difference as compared to the Toro model with the plastic impaler.
One of our favorite uses is the blower which we not only use in the yard but also on the roof--it will make short order of cleaning the gutters!! That's an added bonus.
The variable speed blower and vacuum is great. Consumer Reports lists this item as their highest rated and we can see why...well worth the price!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE the Toro Ultra Blower and Mulcher
I have an old Toro Leaf Blower, I believe it's a Model 400.The older model is still working excellent! The only problem is it takes forever to move a good sized pile of leaves. With my old Toro 400 Leaf Blower, it took over 7+ hours (spread over 2 days) to collect and move enough leaves to fill over 15 to 20 Large Contractor sized garbage bags. That's, 7+ hours of electricity also. That's a lot of leaves my friends!Because a contractor sized garbage bag can hold at least 2 regular sized paper leaf bags.So do the math.If I had just used the paper leaf bags that the town picks up, I would have ended up with at lease 30 bags of leaves.AAAAA!!!I needed a better solution.

During my research, I found the Toro Ultra Leaf Blower and Mulcher (51598).I really cannot rave enough about this product.I really didn't want to purchase an electric leaf blower, because I was a little sick and tired of carrying around the extension cord and having to deal with spending money on electricity. However, I wanted to try out the mulcher.Which from the reviews I read, and from what was printed on the box, it said that it would mulch the leaves at a 16 to 1 ratio."Wow!I have GOTTA see that!", I said.So I decided to purchase one.Oh, what a chore that was.I almost had to go online to get one. Why?Because every Home Depot I went to were out of stock."Out of Stock?", I thought."Geez, this thing has got to be great!"

I finally found one and couldn't wait to get it going because the leaves were falling like stones. There is one tree outside my home that is so bad, that when it started dumping it's load, I could no longer see my front lawn, or my CAR that was parked in the driveway.YES! there were THAT many leaves. So, I suited up, put on my gloves, goggles, face mask, strapped on my new Toro Ultra Leaf Blower and went to town!

It was so overwhelming powerful, I really couldn't believe my eyes!I was pushing a pile of leaves about 3 to 4 feet high with ease.Which may not sound like a lot of people to most, but believe me, that's a lot of leaves. You still have to blow them from the top down the pile, but it was still done with ease.As I was saying it took over 7+ hours (spread over 2 days) to complete the front and back of my house. This took about just about 3 hours total! to blow them into piles, mulch them, AND bag the mulched leaves. My time was easily cut in half!I would suggest to anyone, blowing the leaves into smaller stacks, instead of trying to create one big one. It's much easier to mulch the smaller stacks. Also with my older Toro 400, using it that long I should have used a headset for my ears.My ears were ringing after I was done. With the Toro Ultra, the machine is loud, but since I used it less than half the time, my ears were fine.

As for the Mulcher, the blades are metal, so mulching is a breeze.I was concerned about twigs, small pebbles, etc.Mainly because the suction is quite powerful. It grinded twigs, small stones, and a various array of small four legged rodents, like a Cuisinart!!!HAHA!!!I'm kidding about the rodents.I think you'll be quite pleased with the results of this mulcher. It's very useful. When you are using the mulcher, be aware not to suck up too many leaves.I would do this at times and had to shut off the unit, and clear out the nozzle once or twice.Once you get an idea of how much to suck up smoothly, you buzz right along.Dry leaves, wet leaves, even leaves with frost on them, I just crunched away!!

This was the deciding factor for me purchasing this item, the mulcher. And what a difference it makes.I went from having 15 to 20 Contractor sized garbage bags full of leaves, to a total of about 7 bags full of mulched leaves and twigs.Again, cutting my work in half!!!!Now that's a good product! When you can save me HALF the time to do a chore, that's well worth the money in my book!

One or two other nice little feature I should mention, is that it has an adjustable knob for the blower. So you don't have to always use it at full power.Very nice feature.Who ever thought of that in the design should get a gold star!I do like the overall design of the blower as well. The way it's contoured makes it easy to hold and handle the machine. Also, a gold star!

All-in-all, I've saved on my electric bill, plastic bags, and most of all, my time!!!!The only quirk I would have about this, is that they didn't include a belt, or strap with the machine so that you don't have to hold it.There is a strap on the mulching bag, but I mean one just for the blower itself. That would have been a nice feature.Other than that, I don't see how you could go wrong purchasing this item.In my opinion, this is money that is not only well spent, but something that saves you money in the long run.Excellent product! And if this thing is built like my old Toro 400, I'll have thing for 7+ years easily!!! ... Editorial Review

This is the tool that started the Leatherman revolution. Despite the introduction of new and more elaborate models from Leatherman, the Original remains a popular tool. We like the tough, compact design of the Original, as well as the high quality of the blades and tools. The jaws of the pliers are extremely tough. The Original packs a pretty impressive assortment of tools, including wire cutters, a knife, a metal/wood file, a can/bottle opener, an awl/punch, a nice assortment of Phillips screwdrivers, and more--all perfect for quick, on-the-spot jobs. It's true that the big knife blade would be more effective if it faced the other way, and that having to open the whole thing to get at any of the tools is less than ideal (both issues have been addressed in Leatherman's Wave). But it wasn't so long ago that the Original Leatherman was the only choice, and it's still a great addition to any toolbox, remaining just as handy as when it first came out. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wondeful little tool
Put your Swiss Army Knife dreams to rest and instead buy this handy little tool, that packs convienance and utility into a package that's a mere 4" by 2" and comes with a sleek carrying case.

I've had Victorinox tools before, and sure they look nice, but they can't hold a candle to the Leatherman in terms of sheer utility. The leatherman includes a knife, a file, scissors (effective, sharp scissors at that), several screwdrivers of varying sizesin both Phillips and Slothead, a bottle-opener, and of course the integral pliers and wire-cutter.

The tool is stong, the wire-cutters can cut through metal (I was bored and chewed through some pennies), and more importantly, very safe. When using the knife or screwdrivers, one does not have to worry about applying too much pressure and forcing the blade down on a finger, for closing the tool with the blade outside prevents injury.Highly reccomended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Letherman, The Original and Still The Best
I received my first Leatherman PST in 1994. I have carried it almost everyday since. If I forget it at home, it is like leaving the house without your watch, you soon realize just how frequently you use it.

The only negative thing I can say about this tool, is that the blades and the screwdrivers don't lock in place. This is less critical with the blades because you push against the blade and it stays put. However, the screwdrivers do need to be locked down when you are cranking hard on a stuck screw. The tool will sometimes close up, pinching your fingers (this is the reason I give the PST 4 stars instead of 5). You can tighten the hinge to prevent this, but then the tool is harder to open and close, and hinders single handed operation.

****UPDATE 10/20/03 My PST is from 1994. I "believe" the newer PST has a different type of screwdriver, that is angled to reduce the possibility of it closing up on you (But I still like the Wave better)****

The best way to deal with this is to get the better Leatherman; the Wave. It has locking screwdrivers and is more comfortable in your hand when clamping down on the pliers. Not to mention it has more features.

If you are a "tinkerer" or "a fixer" type person, you need a Leatherman. Trust me, get the wave, you will own it forever and you won't regret it.

I am a professional and often wear business attire, the belt case hides nicely right next to my beeper. If I lost my Leatherman right now, I would stop on my way home and pick up another one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best
If your wondering which brand to buy between Leatherman And SwissTool etc. well can I just suggest you watch any programs on Discovery Channel about explorers or adventure sports participants and see which one they chose. I have only seen leatherman.

I personally have owned the PST for about 4years and only recently had the misfortune of chipping the head on one of the screwdrivers from well a little misuse (opening a screw that was to big for the head) I sent it back to leatherman and they not only fixed the driver but sent me a whole new tool in replacement which means all the wear and tear such as a slightly blunt blade are now all gone.

Editorial Review

We did a double-take when we saw the price on this incredible set of tools. It’s everything you need for home do-it-yourself projects and woodworking, but Delta’s quality makes us think even the contractor couldn’t go too far wrong with this set as a back-up. You could build a deck or frame a room with nothing but the tools in this kit and a level (which, if anyone from Delta is reading this, would be the perfect addition). Applause to Delta for wrapping each tool handle in a nice ergonomic grip material. Aside from that, here’s what we particularly like about each tool: The circular saw is easy to maneuver, not cumbersome and clunky like others we’ve handled. There’s a nice, clear line of sight at the cutline, and kudos to Delta for including a carbide blade rather than high-speed steel—-a nice touch. The pitch of the front handle gave us a great, secure grip. The jigsaw blade changes easily, the trigger’s comfortable and there’s plenty of power. The cordless sander feels great in hand, and we can imagine the projects we could take that to without dragging an extension cord. The 24-position clutch drill, which will probably be the most-used tool of the bunch, has great balance and a comfortable grip. It’s relatively compact, making it perfect for those with smaller hands. Convenient little bit holders right on board, too. The flashlight’s a fine little worker, but there are no outstanding features we could see. But the brad nailer, for us, is the cream of this crop. It’s the answer for those who’ve always wanted a nailer but didn’t want the requisite compressor, too. It’s reliable, powerful and heck, we’ll admit it, fun to use. We like the range of brads it’ll drive, too. This is a fantastic collection of tools you just can’t go wrong with.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My husband is jealous!
My husband poo-pooed this purchase until he heard the price. He thought it cost over $450.00. I'm so glad that I got it before Amazon ran out. Tyler tool still has reconditioned kits on it's web site. This combo is just about everything a girl could ask for in a tool kit. The circular saw is smaller than Mac's big one and I can do things on my opwn. We are building a now house and I think this kit is wonderful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very decent set for the DIYer or amateur craftsman
I picked this up at a closeout sale about a year ago and have been very satified with the quality and value of this set.I've dropped the drill/driver many times and it still functions beautifully. The batteries keep a good long charge, often last several days with medium usage and several weeks while not in use.I've used every tool in it numerous times on home improvement and woodworking projects. The batteries are heavy, as expected for 18V, but the tools are ballanced well with the batts attached. The sander is the best cordless I've ever used, including some fairly expensive ones.My only complaint is that the flashlight doesn't put out much light for 18V, and is very awkward if you're trying to carry it around.Really, though, the set would be more than worth it w/o the flashlight, so it's a pretty minor annoyance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Maybe not the BEST, but don't shy away because of price
Just picked this up (at a local store) as a back-up set for my Porter Cable kit which is running out of batteries and I'm not sure that I want to fork out the money for new 19.2v replacements! Anyway, I bought this set for less than 2 new PC batteries. Not expecting much, the quality of the Delta kit skocked me! The plastic is high grade, the blades mount easily (saws) with included hex wrenches, the drill is powerful and feels good, and overall I am quite impressed. I highly recommend this set to any home owner or light duty handyman. A couple of gripes: 1. you have to remove the battery from the drill to get it in the case (this is your most used tool folks) and 2. the kit should come with 3 batteries. I haven't seen extra batteries for sale yet so that might be an issue down the road. Overall very nice. ... Read more

Don't drive anywhere without this! Car trouble can strike at any time, and you have to be prepared. You won't be caught without the right tools with this neat set. Everything in this case is right on the money, though we'd like to see the flashlight made to be a little more rugged. Jumper cables are a must, and they fit neatly in the (we must say) chic case along with all the other road necessities: a tire gauge, rain poncho, funnel for adding oil or coolant, an ice scraper (which might not seem essential until you're caught without one), non-slip gloves, light sticks (a better choice, we think, than road flares), an SOS banner and a how-to guidebook. Though marketed for women, it's really a great kit for anyone, especially young drivers and college students.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Women Safety Kit
I really loved the nice blue and silver case. The items inside are quite handy, and I've have used several of them. The only down side is the poor quality of the fashlight. It does not work, and is a bit flimsy. The kit I purchased for a friend, also has a bad flashlight. I wanted to return the flashlight, but felt foolish about sending back one item. So I purchased a flashlight to keep in the kit. Overall, a good item to keep in your car, and a great gift for friends. Just replace the flashlight!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality was so poor I had to return it
Having a roadside safety kit designed for women was a such a great idea, it's too bad they had to skimp on quality. The lantern especially was so poorly made I couldn't even get it to open and shut properly. The gloves are flimsy, the tire gauge looks cheap.I was real annoyed at having to pay $9.99 to return this, because it wasn't my fault it was of such poor quality. My advice ladies: put together your own roadside kit with quality products.

5-0 out of 5 stars a good emergency kit
My mom & dad bought this roadside kit for me to keep in my car since I'm away at college for most of the year and on my own.Thank heavens they did because I was stuck on a highway just last week.I put up the SOS flag and within a few minutes, a good samaritan stopped to give me a jump start using my Barbara K jumper cables. The guidebook in the kit is very informational and helped me understand many things about my car.I love my roadside emergency kit!I will recommend it to all of my friends. ... Winter can be lovely, except when it lands on your vehicle. Don't you love leaving work after a long day and discovering that your windshield has a concrete-like, thick coating of ice? It'll never bother you again, as long as this little number is in your car. We've never seen anything clear ice and snow from a windshield like this. Clever engineering, smart ergonomics, and good old innovation combine to make this, hands down, the best scraper we've ever used. Calling it a scraper really doesn't do it justice--the patented Flexiblade actually conforms to the shape of your windshield and windows, and the "Tenderizers" make quick work of crust. But add this: the Ice Notch. No other scraper has attended to the ice-encrusted windshield wipers until now. Just slide your wiper blades through the Ice Notch, and they are clear as a summer's day. The removable brush deserves its own kudos, because it has a scraper blade as well, for areas like mirrors. This gem gets our highest praises.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Completely clear your vehicle of ice and snow, easily, and quickly
  • Features FlexiBlade, ergonomic handles, front plow, and innovative multi-function brush
  • Bulldoze snow and ice off your vehicle without getting it on you
  • Brush can be removed for clearing snow from hard to reach areas
  • Notch specially designed to clear ice chunks off of windshield wipers

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible
It is like a bulldozer. You cant break it.Most ice scrapers are pansy devices. You cant take them and smash ice. This thing is amazing. You can take it and smash it into your windshield and the teeth break the ice. Then use it like a block plane to scrape it off.The blade conforms to the shape of the windshield. There is so much incredible engineering in this thing if you examine it closely. It is like the better mouse trap, only it IS better.

5-0 out of 5 stars When was the last time you couldn't wait for ice?
This product is the best.Last year, my kids were fighting for the right to remove the ice and snow from my car. This tool just demolishes the ice.And the snow mover (that is another one of their products) is great for pushing the snow off of the hood and roof of my car.... without me getting covered with snow doing it.

I can't wait for this winter... and I have already stocked up on these for friends and family for Christmas. ... Read more

Energy efficient, the Turbo Torch delivers 100 hours of LED white light without a battery change. Dubbed the next generation in handheld lighting devices, Coast's Turbo Torch uses a three-spot power beam with reflector tubes to create an extra-bright light that can be seen from more than a mile away. The anodized-steel case protects the unit from knocks and bumps, and the push-button on/off switch makes the Turbo Torch easy to operate. LED light is cold burning, so the Turbo Torch is much more energy efficient than standard flashlights. As a result, batteries last up to 10 times longer than with traditional lights. Better yet, there are no bulbs to break or burn out. The attractive metal case is shockproof and water-resistant, too, making the Turbo Torch a lifetime answer to your handheld lighting needs. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars good for short-spurt uses, else dims too quickly
I got this at a local Fry's Electronics for $12.99.Very bright initially.I thought since it's rated for 100 per set of batteries, it'd be a great little light for 1 or 2 hour continous usages.Unfortunately it dims rather quickly, say after 20 minutes or so and its no brighter than a Maglite solitaire.I did a search on the internet, and here's a very thorough review, including graphs of voltage vs time:

http://ledmuseum.thefire.us/v2.htm.

I wish I had read this review before I purchsed the light. If you want long continuous run times, it's best to stick with LED flashlights that use larger batteries. The little N cells used by the V2 is not meant for that.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not satisfied
I would expect high quality from a pricier flashlight. Mine is difficult to use (if you can imagine a flashlight being difficult) The switch works at times and at other times you have to fumble around with it or hold the button down to keep it on!

3-0 out of 5 stars A durable little flashlight
I was so tired of the batteries dying and replacing the bulbs in my mag light, when I found this little light in the sporting goods department of target. Even though it was a bit expensive for a flashlight this size, I thought it would be worth it if I didn't have to replace the batteries and buy bulbs every month. What I don't like about this light is the open face exposing the three LED bulbs. I modified the lens of my old maglight to fit the face. Now the lights are a little more protected from mineral oil and other medicines I work with. Another feature that I dislike is the on/off button. I have only had the light for four months and the rubber button has already worn off. I have to turn the light on and off with a pen. This light is still as bright as when I bought it, and the bright light highlights the small nicks and dings in the machinery that I work on. I still recomend this light to friends and co-workers when they even mention getting a small flashlight. Of course I do have to mention this little flashlight is $24.99. Not exactly inexpensive. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Finally got myself a good drill...
I've had a steady stream of low cost cordless drills over the last fifteen years and when the built-in battery in my most recent one finally died I decided it was time to spend a bit more and get a much better drill. After much looking around I settled on the Porter-Cable 9820 as it appeared to be a great combination of power, features, modest weight, price, and included accessories.I also wasn't interested in spending $50-100 to get something that was really only just a bit better than all the $35 ones I'd bought and discarded over the years.

I've had the Porter-Cable 9820 just about a month now and have used it for several jobs, ranging from numerous household projects to rebuilding a redwood fence crushed by a 25' limb in a recent storm. It has proven to be everything I was looking for.I am particularly pleased to have two interchangable batteries, a fast and hefty charger, two selectable drill speeds, broad range adjustable clutch, controls that are very conveniently placed, and what seems to me to be a perfect combination of high power and yet comfortably handleable weight.I'm no power tool expert, but it seems very well made -- everything about it has a good, solid feel. And all at what I consider a very reasonable price.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent So Far
I've only had this unit for a month so I will revise this review after some more time passes. However, I have used it for a fairly large project (built a large cedar wood shed) which required drilling a few hundred 3 inch screws. This drill is a good combination of size and power and unless you are a serious professional who needs all-day long-lasting industrial strength, this unit will do fine. You'll get a good long stretch out a single battery and by the time you could wear one out, the other one will have recharged. The two speed functionality is great (one for drilling, the other for bit driving) and I recommend it highly if you can spend the extra dollars for a drill that has it.

As far as construction and quality - you basically have two choices when it comes to cordless power tools. They're either made in Europe (Switzerland or Germany) or they're made in the far east (China, Taiwan). This is true regardless of the nationality of the name brand on the equipment. The stuff from Europe is of higher quality, but you'll pay for it.If you want to pay the price for a Bosch from Germany or a Milwaukee from Switzerland (I know it sounds funny that Milwaukees are not made in the USA, but that's the way it is) it may very well be worth it.If you're going the next price level down, you will have no choice but the far east.Porter-Cable (this unit is made in Taiwan) is a solid American company (division of Pentair, "PNR" on the NYSE) and their quality requirements should be much higher than lesser name brands that also build in the far east. As an aside, I don't know about you, but my 401k and my fellow American laborers have a lot riding on the success of American companies, so I prefer to buy from them instead of foreign competitors if the quality is just as good.Anyway, the construction of this unit seems very solid (I'll revisit that after some time passes) and the logistics of the layout are very good. The batteries pop in and out fairly easily and the recharger has a nice indicator to let you know the status of the battery (one thing about batteries - if they're fully charged, don't leave them in a running charger for days on end - take them out and recharge them when you need them). This unit is also a nice size and weight compared to the higher voltage units. You really ought to stongly consider just how much juice you need and not over-do the power. If you don't need the extra power don't get it because it'll cost you extra money and it'll cost you extra effort to use the larger unit.Overall - this is an excellent unit so far and I couldn't be happier with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic drill... goes and goes...
Decided that a 9.6v was a good weight/power trade off. This baby has a ton of torque. I've built several large planter boxes, a shed, and a deck with it - I've driven hundreds and hundreds of decking screws into pressure treated lumber, most of them 1.5 inches, but often 2.125 or 3 inch screws. You get plenty of run time out of each battery. Just the charge from one battery is usually enough for a moderate project (like a planter box with 120 deck screws (I used a second drill to do the piloting of holes and the P-C to do the driving)). If you leave the other battery in the charger you'll always be good to go. I like this drill so much that I was considering buying a second one. ... Read more
