Editorial Review

We’ve all used cut-up carpet remnants or cardboard boxes under the car, so we all know how messy those scenarios can be. Dyn-O-Mat’s 36-by-84-inch auto mat will absorb as much as two gallons of hazardous or nonhazardous liquids that otherwise would soak into your garage floor. Used under a car, motorcycle, golf cart, lawnmower, or any other machinery, you’ll save yourself who knows how many hours of unpleasant cleanup. The mat’s backing won’t allow seepage. The material is light and thin enough to be cut with ordinary scissors to any customsize and shape, and when it’s time for a new mat, the old one can be recycled or incinerated. We think the mat sure beats spending a Saturday with solvents. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Mat
This is an awsome mat. It performed just like I expected it too.
Instaltation was very simple, but getting it out of the box requered some tools to cut the tape, I recomend a butter knife from the kitchen. I have used many other mats, and I have to say that this one of the best performing mats. I recomend the mat accessory pack too. The only sugestion I have for the mat would be an ethernet or wireless port so that I can check in on it while I am away from home. I love my mat.

3-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic cordless drill/saw combo
I've owned a Panasonic 15.6V cordless drill for a couple of years now; it's a fantastic drill, the best I've seen or used. The Ni-Mh batteries are state-of-the-art; the feel and function of the tool is just about perfect. So I decided to get another along with with the cordless circular saw.

The saw is pretty good, kind of rinky-dink as far as rigidity of the saw base, but typical of these tools and it does everything I could want as long as I don't expect it to be a fine finish carpenter's saw.

So why don't I rate this kit 5 stars? Well, the blow-molded cases are worthless. If I pay $360 for a pair of good tools, I expect the case to be good too. This combo case is a huge, very inefficient storage unit with little room left over to easilystore driver/drill bits, spare saw blades, etc. So minus one star for that.

And the saw has a 20mm arbor, which means you are pretty much stuck with buying Panasonic blades for the saw. You can't just go to your local hardware or Big Box store and get the typical sawblade that has a 1/2" arbor. Poor thinking, worth taking off another star.

It's too bad, I think. Panasonic definitely has the jump on every other cordless manufacturer as far as battery technology and ergonomics. They just need to work on a couple of details, and they'd be King.

Some of these manufacturer's oversights make me wonder just who does any "real-world" testing of this stuff before it reaches the marketplace. It can't be working tradespeople, or maybe Panasonic doesn't care much for the feedback?

5-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic tops all others
I managed a national-scope tool store for six years and have been working in construction trade full time for the last three years. The Panasonic drill and saw have proven to be physically tougher, batteries last longer, and have more power than DeWalt, Porter-Cable, and Makita, or any other drill I ever used, sold, or recieved customer feedback on.In our shop, the saw positively humbles our Makita and DeWalt cordless saws for power and battery life ( like 4-5 times the run time - no joke). Our 5 Panasonic 15.6v drills outpower and outlast all the drills we have ever used, including out 18V Makita and 19.2V Porter Cable, while being much lighter. If you try one of these, you will not be dissapointed.Only tip - pick up a few extra blades, they are a bit hard to come by.
Other companies may do a better job marketing, but Panasonic does a better job buiding quality tools that perform better than the others in a hard use setting such as my cabinet shop. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Leatherman's Squirt S4 is an amazingly compact multitool, measuring a mere 2-1/4 inches in length and weighing less than 2 ounces. But for such a tiny unit, the Squirt packs a lot of tough, functional tools--scissors, a straight knife, a nail file, a bottle opener, tweezers, a ruler, and three screwdrivers. All the tools are made of high-grade stainless steel and come protected and housed within colorful anodized handles. The tool butterflies open to access the spring-action scissors; all the other tools are easily accessed from the outside of the Squirt and snap readily into place. A lanyard attachment makes it easy to fasten the Squirt to a key ring. Leatherman also covers this mighty little guy with a 25-year warranty. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Wimpy and torquey all at the same time......
Wimpy and torquey all at the same time......It has a alot of torque to do most average drilling jobs....Just don't use it for anything or it might break......I dropped mine from a foot off the ground...The back split wide open.....So I bought another identical drill......Within 6 months of use, the bit shaft warped and now the drill looks like a bent axle when driving screws......This makes it somewhat difficult to drive drywall screws. Hmmmmm....so yeah, it's a great drill as long as ya adon't use it...........

1-0 out of 5 stars Chuck does not hold a bit
Stay away!! Spend your cash on something that will last.

I have had this drill for almost a year for general use (not commerical) and at first was very pleased with it. After about 10 months bits began slipping in the chuck. At times I would need to remove bit from the chuck and back out with pliers.

Drill is good for screws, but will not set screws flush with surface unless counter set and screw holes are predrilled and using a fresh battery. Major, major inconvenice.I have to use my old craftman corded drill that has more torque to set screws.

The radio is great but if the drill does not live up to expectations it becomes expensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine drill/driver and under $100.00
I've read some reviews that sat the chuck on the drill can't hold a bit at all and its only real use is as an 18-volt screwdriver. I've run a 1/2 bit to the hilt into a 4X4 several times just to test it, and there was no slippage at all. The drill and two batteries that come with this set are worth the $99.00 and the radio/trickle charger is an added bonus. I would say that 280 lbs of torque is plenty for most applications, but have to admit that I am a novice and use it as a household tool. I've only had it about a month but have played around with it, and am very impressed with it when compared to other 18 volt drill/drivers out there. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Well built piece of equipment
I have to agree with the other reviewers, this is a well-built piece of equipment that makes my old plastic hose cart look likecheap garbage.

5-0 out of 5 stars A reel sent from heaven.
I have bought many "plastic" reels from your regular fix it yourself stores. They barely last 1 year if I'm lucky. When UPS delivered this one, I could hardly lift it it was so heavy, I knew I had something good and sturdy.I opened the box and started putting this baby together, what a beauty.I paid $140 for it, but it was worth every dollar.I hosed it up, gave it some water, and it worked like a champ, the first time, with no water leak anywhere. And I feel good since it's made in the good ole USA.

3-0 out of 5 stars Misrepresented
Today I just received the Rapid Reel I ordered, in black. The problem I have is the product is last year's version with the T-bar stabilizer, not the newer improved version which is PICTURED as the product. I don't want the hassle of returning the item...Just wished I got the product I saw and paid for. What gives Amazon? ... Read more

Editorial Review

Grab your glue gun, we're going in! This hobbyist's tool set has a good working glue gun and a host of other handy tools for delicate arts-and-crafts projects. Also included is a high-quality spring-loaded pair of minipliers with a wire-cutting edge. We were also impressed with the tweezers. These aren't your dinky pull-a-sliver-out-of-your-finger tweezers, but a serious tool that fits comfortably in the hand and is easy to control when performing delicate work. The miniature screwdriver set is perfect for everything from repairing eyeglasses to assembling tiny parts. You get two Phillips screwdrivers and two similarly sized slotted screwdrivers. Among the handiest tools in the kit are the small spring clamps. They have easy-to-grip rubber on the handles, and are just the right size for holding small, freshly glued wood pieces together. You also get a handy magnifying glass, a small utility knife, some sharp-angled cutting shears, and a spring-loaded 6-foot tape measure. This set is full of all the tools you'd want for any number of crafting projects. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

I just bought a new white convertible and this product is the greatest for quickly removing dust and light dirt. I am using it daily as it is so easy and quick. Car is spotless after 3 weeks of heavy driving, and I haven't needed to use my free car wash from the dealer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Always thought just a hype - it really works
I use this duster on my convertible (right now it is pollen season). I used to hand-wash the car every 2 weeks. Now I dust once to twice a week and maybe wash every 6 weeks or so. Looks cleaner now and is a lot less work.

3-0 out of 5 stars Will not work on all hoses.
After reading the reviews I was looking forward to purchasing this.I use 100 feet of 3/8 inch Gilmour Flexogen hose, so I thought that this reel would work since it is advertised to support up to 125 feet of hose. Unfortunately, it does not work well with my hose. The last 10 feet enters the reel very slowly (if at all), and when I take out the hose, it is a struggle to get the first 10 feet out.My wife can't take out the first few feet of hose as it is usually stuck and rubbing inside.I now have to take this reel back to the store.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hydro Industries Autowind Hose Reel
One of the greatest products I've ever had. I ordered two of these and I asked if they came in any other color than gray.I said that tan would be nice.I was advised that gray was the only color. When they arrived "wallah" they were tan. I'm completely fascinated by them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hydro Industries 200B 125' AutoRewind Hose Reel Works Great.
The thing I dislike most about yard work is having to put away a heavy garden hose after being hot, wet and tired. This jewel-of-a-product eliminates that back-breaking chore and keeps your hose neat and off the ground. It's easy to install, operate (easy-to-understand instruction booklet), works as advertised and comes with a two year warranty. The reel isn't ugly, but we didn't like the gray color boxey-look in front of the house (it stands approximately 2 1/2 feet tall). We found a nice spot for it beside the house, so it can't be seen from the street. It comes with a 6' connecting hose for the faucet.I needed a bit longer hose for where I wanted to install it.Overall, I am very pleased with this product; I like it! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It rust real fast.
One week after I got this, I lended this to my friend and he returned that to me in 2 days, and I could see rust on the hammer and the screws. They rust in less than 2 weeks.Don't know who to blame, my friend or the product?

3-0 out of 5 stars It's cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Heck, it's not a serious tool set, but it is a good all-in-one need-something-for-the-apartment set. The downfall of all the tool-sets is that if you break a tool or lose a tool, you can't find a replacement to fit in the exact blow-molded spot.
HINT:buy the tool set and then go to your local hardware store and pick up a cheap toolbox to store the tools in.This way, you will be able to augment, change, replace your tools over time without behind stuck with the cheasy case.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice to have all the tools together in one box, but......
I just received this tool-set yesterday so I can't really comment through use of the tools. But upon inspection, the different tools appear very poorly made - example: the ratchet tool feels like it is going to fall apart as you twist the head to change the direction from left to right, and the flashlight is light as a feather.

Given that, having these tools together in one portable place is nice.Plus I guess you shouldn't really expect much more for the price.Don't get me wrong, I still plan on keeping this in the back of my truck. But if I were to do it again, I might spend a little more money, and put an emergency tool-box together myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love these tools!
This is a great kit for hanging pictures and mirrors.I recently moved and because I already had this kit, I had everything I needed to hang up all of my wall art.The handle on the hammer and the screwdriver really make a difference. They are just as good as those ugly tools your dad has, but they feel better in your hand and they look nicer.I also really like the mini-level inside of the big level - and it's great that they are magnetic.I have a mirror in a metal frame and it made it very easy to make sure it was hanging straight, since it stuck to the frame.

3-0 out of 5 stars Irritatingly Oversimplified
I wouldn't recommend this product because the guide that comes with it is very general and only provides instructions for hanging a small picture or mirror. It does not tell you what you need to know about hanging a medium or large picture, for example, how to choose the proper hooks and anchors depending upon wall type. ... We've all been there. We pack a cooler to take on a long trip, but by the time we reach in to grab a sandwich, all we find is a sopping wet mess. The Wagan thermoelectric cooler/warmer provides the cooling power of a 10-pound block of ice, without all the hassle and mess. It also doubles as an effective food warmer, keeping its contents at a steady 140 degrees F when switched to warming mode. The cooler/warmer is easy to use, too. Simply plug it into your car lighter socket, and you're ready to go. The unit even comes with a four-way socket adapter, so you can plug in up to three other electronic items at the same time, and it fits neatly between the seats or in the middle of the back seat and includes a shoulder strap for easy transportation. A 5.0 amp AC/DC converter allows you to plug the unit into any standard outlet once you reach your destination. Because it uses energy-efficient thermal plate technology to transfer heat to and away from its contents, rather than a compressor, the cooler/warmer emits no CFCs or dangerous gases, never needs recharging, and requires minimal maintenance. A rugged outer body; tight, magnetic seal; and superior foam insulation keep the food inside fresh. Easy-to-read red and green indicator lights let you know whether the unit is set to heating or cooling mode. --Carl Thress ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars UNIT WAS DANGEROUSLY FAULTY!
On first use (in our car), this unit first began to smell of burning, then began to smoke. At the point where the plastic top began to melt we managed to get off the highway we were on in order to get the unit out of our now smoky car. My two week old daughter was in the car also, this unit was supposed to keep her milk cool, not attempt to kill us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this little cooler
Studying for the CA bar exam I had to be at the law library for 10-12 hours everyday for two and a half weeks straight.Using the "hot" version, I was able to have my hot meals every day, without having to take off too much time from my studies. The food stayed nice and hot (great home-y feel) after approximately 5 hours from the time I heated it up in the morning. It probably would stay hot even longer than that, but I had to worry about draining my power system.

When it was time for the exam, which is 3 days in CA, the hotel that I was staying at had ran out of their refrigerators. So, I took this little cooler and set it in the "cold" version. My food stayed COLD the whole time, not cool, COLD.I had cold cuts, cheeses, and soup that never went bad during the period of time.

When I checked the temperature, when set as cold, it stayed consistently at 32 degrees (colder than my refrigerator), and when set as hot, it was 120 degrees. It really works well.

The whirling noice that the other reviewer mentioned is correct, but it is not annoying at all. Since it doesn't have a high pitch sound, it was just fine.Even when I had it in the hotel room right next to the bed.And when you take the bar exam, every little noise would annoy you - trust me on that.

Hopefully I passed the exam. I would then give credit to this little cooler for having kept me fed during the ordeal with little hassle.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea for a Cooler, but...
I love the idea that this cooler will fit almost anywhere. It's especially nice that the Wagan cooler fits snugly, and relatively securely on the center console between the front seats in my Jeep Grand Cherokee (although I can't lift the door to the console, but you can't have everything).

The Wagan unit keeps things cool (as the name implies), but let's face it, this is no refridgerator, and for an electrically powered unit, I expect that it would keep drinks colder than using ice with a regular cooler, but it doesn't. Unless the Wagan cooler is left out in the snow in the middle of wintertime, it barely keeps things as cool as 40-42 degrees Farenheit when its about 72 degrees outside. WIth ice in a traditional cooler, you can expect to get things down to around 34-36 degrees, and in the summertime. And believe me this 4-8 degrees matters. In fact, the cooler performs much worse in hotter weather.

Also (and this is my biggest peeve), the cooler's AC power adapter died after less than one week of use---it's cheesy and probably not the stuff of power appliances like this Wagan cooler. Therefore, I would not suggest using the cooler as a full-time refridgerator/cooler in your office or den. The Wagan Cooler appliance package just isn't builttough enough for my relatively benign demands. Needs to keep the drinkies cool (I give it a "C-"), and needs to endure through typical (and specified I might add, by the manufacturer) use ("D-"). ... Read more

The light stopped working after about 6 hours of use.Tried ordering and replacing battery pack, no luck.I have had other micro lights, and the quality of this one leaves much to be desired. When it did work, it was as bright as advertised.

Editorial Review

While this is a 51-piece tool set, we should mention at the outset that 22 of the "pieces" are 4-inch plastic cable ties. Also included in the count of 51 items are 2 electrical testers, a roll of electrical tape, and the handy carrying pouch. That said, this compact set does offer quite a bit of what you'd want to have in your car to handle roadside repairs. The ratcheting handle is intended for use as both a screwdriver and--with the aid of an included adapter--a socket driver. While this set isn't heavy duty enough for making serious repairs, the tools are well constructed and handy for tightening up loose nuts, bolts, and screws, and for inspection and minor repairs of your car's wiring. If these are the only tools you keep in the car, you're going to be a lot better off than without them, and if you're looking for the smallest kit you can get by with, this is the one. --Brian Trinen ... You can't go wrong with this tool set--the folks at Allied havecollected everything you'll need for automotive emergencies, routinemaintenance, and repairs and packed it into this tough-sided carryingcase that opens out and lies flat for super access to everything. Thetools are made of dropforged carbon steel for durability and come inboth metric and standard sizes. There'll be no complaints with thiscollection: a 41-piece socket set, 27-piece wrench set, 23-piecescrewdriver bit set, and a 34-piece electrical set. A utility knife, wire brush, tire gauge, and 8-foot, 100-amp jumper cable round out theset. The box is compact enough to keep in your vehicle all the time. 3-0 out of 5 stars Really 100 piece set!
It comes with 35 electrical terminals and 100 fasteners as part of the kit. So it really comes with 99 tools and the box.

It was inexpensive and if you're not looking to do a lot of repair work on your car, it's probably a good buy for you. Something to keep in your trunk. I can tell already though from looking at this, that I'm going to want to get REAL set elsewhere. For basic maintenance work this set will do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! Need I say more?
I'm buying my first car and figured that I will need a tool kit. This has to be the best bang for the buck. Looks like it has everything for moderate engine tuneup job. A torque wrench would be nice though. Overall this is a good toolkit to have in your car should the unexpected happen. Besides you can never go wrong with having a toolkit in your car anyway. ... Editorial Review

We've seen the ads on TV just like you have, and we scoffedjust like you did. Once we tried it though, the scoffing was forgotten. The concept is simple and beautiful, and we wish we'd thought of it. Weprowled around our warehouse with the Gator Grip and took stuff apart, much to the alarm of our coworkers. We've never been fond of thesocket-fitting process, in which you try one socket for size, thenanother and another--and the Gator Grip does away with that. It accepts1/4- to 3/4-inch nuts, bolts, screw eyes, wing nuts, and every kind ofodd shape--in fact, a perfect job for the Gator Grip is the wing nut onour router. No more sore fingers! One caveat: it's an acquired touch, and our first few tries weren't very fruitful. Once you get the hang ofit, though, you'll be hard pressed to put it down. --Kris Jensen-VanHeste ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Gator Grip.. What a rip!
I always love to try these new innovative products and wanted to try the Gator Grip when I saw it on informercial about a couple of years ago. I bought the gator grip as soon as I saw it on the tools section of Home Depot and the result? Really dissapointed. For $12, it's still a waste of money!

The kit comes with Gator Grip Universal socket and the connector to drill. The build quality is so poor, if you put it on a drill and try to spin it for a second, you will immediately notice that the spin is not symmetrical which makes it really makes it hard to bolt straight down. If threshold is soft material like hardboard walls, doing so will ruin the threshold (and it has).
The pins inside the soket are not that tight and do not give a firm grip. It says it will stand a torque of 1000ft pounds, but it will scratch up the bolt head before it endures that torque.
Do not buy this.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Unique and Useful Tool
In the world of adjustable wrenches, you've got the crescent wrench and vice-grips.

I was always frustrated by crescent wrenches because they are always losing their grip.Finicky is the word that comes to mind.

The gator grip is useful in many of the same situations where you might reach for a crescent wrench. The action is totally different, of course, but once you get used to it you'll find that having a ratcheting action without having to first adjust the wrench is very handy. This wrench, in my opinion, is not for precision torquing, nor is it the best choice for nuts that are seized, more of an all-around handy item.

Innovative and useful.I'm glad I spent the 20 bucks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not-so-handy?This is agreat gift !
If you know one of those poor souls whose toolbox consists of an 18" long slotted screwdriver, Grandpa's hammer, and hacksaw , then this is the essential nut and bolt tool for them.

Within six months of getting a Gator Grip for Christmas, it was indispensable in two large projects--refitting new lumber on an old rotten picnic table, and in putting up a new garage door opener.

The other reviewers are correct--it's NOT FOR EVERY JOB. Because the pins are cylindrical, it occasionally slips on the bolt head, and it lacks the gripping strength needed for working on something like your car engine. And it WILL NOT remove a nut if there is more than 1/4 inch of bolt sticking out the back end.

HOWEVER, if you are up on a ladder, and/or working with many odd-sized nuts and bolts, this tool is a Godsend. For overall home maintenance, play set assembly, garage door opener installation, or putting together knockdown furniture, it can't be beat. (I only cussed about fourteen times while installing my new Garage door opener, and that was a record!)

As a GIFT, I'd recommend this tool especially for those people who are NOT handy around the house.

This would be a great gift for the independent female in your life--the one who does the home remodeling herself, or for a couple's first home/apt. Although I haven't used it on a bike, I'd think it'd be an excellent addition to the cyclist's tool bag. ... Read more
