great drill
Good torque, balanced and easy to handle. The bits stay tight and won't slip. This is a great tool.I would highly recommend it.

Just Like New
I have owned just about every brand of cordless drill since they started making them. My first was the old 9.6 Makita, it lasted for years until it was stolen . Since then I've had B&D 9.6 which was good, Panasonic 12v, but it couldn't handle everyday on the job abuse. I've had Craftsmen[ didn't last a year]. I've used De Walts and had co-workers tell me how dissapointed they were with them. I thought I finally got the TOOL!when I bought a Bosch 14.4, but I dropped it from about 4' and the housing and battery broke. I had seen and held one of these Makita 18's atmy local home center, and thoght it felt rally solid. But the 249.00 price always made me shy. So I waited for the price to go down, it never did. I wonderd why, so I checked out all the specs. Metal Housing,2.0 amp hour rating, replacible brushings[ the only cordless tool with feature],plus the balnce and overallfeel and quality. So when I saw this tool fact. reconditioned for 179.00 I bought one. Well I,ll tell ya this baby may as well be brand spankin' new and I couldnt be happier. Don't buy this one! Buy a new one instead
I would say this is a great deal and would feel comfortable with it being reconditioned if it came with two batteries like a new one.What do they do with the other battery when it comes back, throw it away? Another battery will cost you around $90 and you need two.Anyway, I've owned one of these for 4 years and it is still going strong. This is an excellent product.

The Best Cordless You'll ever buy
I've had 4 different cordless drills.My wife bought me this one 3 years ago and I virtually used it steady for two years while building a new house for my son.It is a great drill with plenty of power and with the extra battery you don't need to worry about running out of soup.

Only one Battery?
A reconditioned Panasonic drill for $159.00 is great if you get the two batteries with it. On a new one you get two baterries for $199.00, I don't see the savings personally. ... Read more

Minature right angle drill driver
I'm a contractor have installed lots of kitchens.I have had this tool for almost ten years and am buying a second. One will be used for drilling, the other as a driver.It is the perfect tool for installing cabinets and will allow you drill and screw together cabinets as narrow as nine inches. It is nice that is light and allows you to get in into akward positions without too much pain. Ive got a bunch of batteries so that the short run time doesn't bother me, but I imagine the 12 volt runs a bit better ... Read more

Worth the money
In my job, sheetmetal mechanic portability and durability are two of the most important factors dealing with hand tools.The 3/8 and 1/2 inch porter cable drill meets those demands.With the dual gear switch you can adjust the speed and with the torque adjustment you can ensure to eb on the safe side when using the drill motor as a driver for screws or bolts 5/16 up to 1/2" I would recomend the 1/2 drive for larger bolts. Whether I'm on the ladder or a scissor jack I have enough other tools in my pouch so dragging cords chuck keys etc makes my job more hassle. The portability of this item is great,as for the flashlight now talking about brightness it will definately give you some serious light as well with its rotary headmaking it hands free it will stay on most horizontal surfaces or if needed upsidedown it may be secured with a small rope thereby allowing to have the light over your shoulder and rotate the head as required. Battery charges in a resonable time allowing for continuous use have one on the charger and oprating with one. The draw back I've found is the keyless chuck ensure chuck is tight or it will cause the dill bit or driver to stop while penetrating the material being drilled a regular key chuck would ensure proper tightness without jaw damage and a satisfied user Bothe portability and durability are highly accented byt eh sturdy case housing the dilllight charger and battery. Sap it lock its less the weight of a tool box and it may be maintained in limited sopace such as a gan box taking up very little space as well protecting it from the enviroment dirt grease etc. Good choise ... Great drill and cheap
I was a little leery of buying the reconditioned model, but it's worked like a champ.I bought it in anticipation of a home purchase.It has been a workhorse throughout everything I've had to do on the house.I only found one cosmetic blemish, and that's barely noticeable.I'd buy another one in an instant.

The standard for drill drivers is Dewalt
I bought a 14.4 Dewalt drill driver back in about 1993 while doing super extensive remodeling work on a house.I found the tool to be the most useful thing I had besides my Milwaulkee Sawsall.It had a ton of power (like others said, if you're used to "handyman" style junk, you might strip some screws with this baby) and the batteries lasted a long time.

The mid-handle and ergonomics are the best.The charger is smart and only charges when needed, goes from flat to charged in 1 hour.Clutch has plenty of adjustment.The original screw tips that come with it and snap on the sides are still not chewed up and look perfect, some 6+ years later after tons of use.AFter TONS of use, the batteries are wearing out and I eventually destroyed highgear on it, but I'm buying another since Amazon has them so cheap.I'll keep my other one for parts just in case.

I have seen makita tools and used them, and although they do make some good products, in this catagory I personally cannot see them lasting 1/2 as long as Dewalt.I know a guy who's brother drives a truck for Dewalt and he's been to construction sites where guys come and give him a Makita - they say something like "take this piece of junk!" and buy a Dewalt.And you're SUPPORTING USA.

* Magnetic screw holder w/sleeve for holding drywall screws for one-handed driving

* holster for climbing ladders and such.

I tried this drill for installing metal siding and roofing. The first one lasted 2 weeks and the second lasted 1 week. The switch to change from high to low speed died on both. I then spent another 20 dolars and bought the Makita 14.4 volt. 1 year later it is still going strong. I also bought the Dewalt palm sander with the variable speed and the VS switch lasted 6 months before it died. Why would the average Joe ever buy a new one?
I received this drill in like new condition. Except for the R on the top I would not be able to tell it was reconditioned.I used it to build a deck and screwed everything that could be screwed and could not run down a battery before the other one was recharged and ready to go. I would recomend it to anyone in the market for a good tool at a good price.

About reconditioned tools
I have just purchased this Dewalt dw953k drill from mazon.com.
I have not yet received it but would like to mention my experience with dewalt Recon tools. These tools are new from the factory and have not been in use in the field. Dewalt and other manufacturers test and inspect all there tools at the end of the manufacturing process. If by chance they find any abnormality in the operation or generaly missing parts they are rejected and sent back into assembly for correction of the fault.
At this point they mark them with the R and repackage them for sale. Very rarely are these tools ever known to have been used by anyone other than factory quality control personel.
I have two other Dewalt recon tools a DW974 12volt cordless drill 7 years old and a DW628 3-1/2 HP router 6years old. Both are still in great operating condition and used everyday.

Good deal on great drill
I use this drill extensively at work, and it's great.It has been dropped, rained on, buried in dust, used at full power through 3 batteries non-stop, and generally abused on a daily basis.It just keeps going with no problems.The drill I got from Amazon was in blemish-free, like-new condition with the exception of the 'R' branded on the top to denote a reconditioned tool.The keyless chuck seems to have been updated from the one I've used, since it 'clicks' when tightening, much like a torque wrench.You can find the same thing as this for 90 bucks more at Home Depot (and that's without the extra battery), so this is a good deal. ... As a plumbing contractor for 25 years we started using this model when it first came out in the early 80's.Compact, quick and powerful. We tried the makita copy of the milwaukee when it came out in the late 80's but it had a clutch that activated too easily, so you couldn't finish a tough hole with it. Very frustrating with the Makita.the Milwaukee has no clutch so you have to be careful about the torque. We throw away both the t handle and pipe handle extensions as we have never used them. The trick to controlling the torque is to snuggle up to the drill and keep it close to your body. That way if it jams your body soaks up the torque not just your arms.Also, we drill large holes [toilet flanges etc.] on high speed using hole saws.The drill has less torgue to whack you with at high speed. We wear them out mostly drilling toilet flanges when they jam on deep cuts, resulting in gear rebuilds, but it takes several years of brutal use to get to that point.very compact for the power.

the "only" drill for plumbers
I have used these drills for over 15 years installing plumbing in new construction and have tried just about every other type and brand of drill. None of them comes close to the "Hole Hawg". Beware that this drill is very powerful and should be operated with extreme caution.

Reliability and Power to Spare!
This Milwaukee Hole Hawg is by far the best drill on the market for pure and simple day-in, day-out reliability and power.I really takes a beating, and has enough torque to twist the top off the Super Dome (well, maybe not quite)!With self-feeding bits, this drill does an exceptional job of knocking out holes for any plumbing or electrical rough-in.I've dropped it, it's been rained on, bounced around in the back of a truck, and otherwise subjected to the "normal" job site wear n' tear, and it continues to perform flawlessly.The only negative word I might utter is that it is heavy.Holding this guy over your head for the day can get old.But a small price to pay for the power and reliability this tool offers. ...
