Blowing power is great; haven't tried vac/mulching yet
After cutting our lawn, we'd always have grass clippings lying over our front porch, sidewalk, and driveway.I got so tired of always getting out there with a broom - which only cleared about half of the mess - that I decided to buy a blower.When I saw the difference in price between a blower and a blower/vac/mulcher was very little, I decided to give the Toro 51573 a try.

After cutting the lawn again, I was anxious to try out my new toy.The first time I turned it on I literally elevated on to my toes... That's how much power this thing has.It was so liberating to watch our grass leftovers be COMPLETELY cleared from every area in less than ten miutes.I also blew all of the little pebbles off of our driveway, and I plan on tackling all the dirt and debris that's found a resting spot on our garage floor.Of course, when using the blower you have to be careful where you aim.Once I accidently let the blowing stream get too close to my mulch and had to go patch that spot later - LOL.

I can actually say that I'm looking forward to fall when all the leaves drop so I can try out the vac/mulching capabilities.My father - who is near 60 - has two giant trees in his front yard and three in his back yard.Every year he has to rake around 30 bags of leaves, and I'd like to give him a break.After the Toro 51573 and I have a go at his yard later this year, I'll update my review with the results...

Great product
The toro rake and vac is a great product.I am disabled and have problems raking so many leaves in my yard, and then cleaning them up. This has helped so much because it shortens the time i need to be raking, then mulches the leaves down real great.

Not a good buy
The ryobi 510R 4-cycle yard & Garden Cultivator did not work for me. I started the tiller and it ran for about 5 minutes and it locked up and would not run. The local authorized service dealer repaired it but it took over a month to get parts.Then I tried it again and it ran maybe 10 minutes this time before it locked up again,same as before.Now its in the shop again and the dealer says he ordered the parts 3 months ago and has not receive the parts as of today.So I don't rate this tiller at all.You have heard about the LEMON, well I got one. the number to contact Ryobi is a joke,you never talk to anyone before they disconnect.

I like it!
I don't expect it to compare with the big guys, and for a hundred bucks less than the Mantis (neighbor has one) the Ryobi 4 cycle is the one for me.The first thing I did was to till a grassy area,,,, the grass got tangled in the tines,,,, to my surprise,, the tines come off very easily.

The unit starts easy, is light, not a powerhouse,, but hey it's only $200.

Nice little powerhouse
When I was reviewing this tiller before purchase, the reviews seemed to have conflicting information. However, there was enough positives, along with free shipping that I went ahead and ordered one. So far it's been a great little tiller. It starts and runs great and does what it's supposed to do. Contrary to some reviewer's opinions, I find that it's quiet - in fact my neighbor's first comment was "Gee.. that's really quiet". OSHA might disagree, but I don't feel that hearing protection is necessary. As someone pointed out, the current picture featured above is different than the actual unit - it is. The actual unit has a longer shaft between the engine and the tines - similar to the Ryobi 410 / 2-cycle unit. Speaking of that - it's great not to have to mix the oil & gas!
The tines will stop when you encounter the right size rock and it jams between the tine and the hood. This is pretty typical of any tiller that I've used.
It is small and will not till a large area very fast, but it does a nice job and sure beats shoveling! ... Read more

Electric w/ Gas Power
This trimmer replaced a cheap-o Toro.I have been impressed w/ its power & quality.It doesn't waste any time when it gets to the big stuff!Oh, and no trips to the gas station either.

speed spool works fine
I was a little hesitant about one reviewer's negative remarks about the speed spool.Turns out you have to read the instructions and learn what the thing will do and won't do.Once I got past the learning curve the thing worked fine.

A wicked little trimmer
The Ryobi 105R is a powerful electric trimmer, yet light-weight enough to handle with one hand if you have a particularly difficult spot to trim, and it is balanced nicely so there is no back strain as there can be with models that have the motor mounted at the bottom of the trimmer. Yee Haaa!
Pros: Brigss & Stratton engine starts on the first or second pull every time. Powerful and well built. Should last a long while.

Cons: Too light! Even with the accessory chassis weights this tiller is too light for "serious" sod busting.

The Super Bronco requires two or more passes (in my soil) to properly till. I suggest following the owner's manual instructions to start at 2 inches and progressively deepen the till. If you try to go deep on the first pass this tiller will show you why it has the name "Super Bronco"!

The Super Bronco is well made and will run all day without a whimper. I've used mine to till my entire front lawn and she just chugged along without balking. Once your garden has been tilled subsequent planting seasons will only require a single pass to prepare your soil. There are grass catchers, and then there are Grass Catchers... and the MTD twin bag grass collection system is the latter, a real force when it comes to dealing effectively with mown grass. Designed specifically for use with MTD Yard-Man 300/400 series lawn tractors, the system is a nightmare to assemble. Have your patience and tools ready, and a couple of hours to spare. Once assembled, however, you will possess a truly superior grass catcher. A wide 7-inch-diameter side-discharge tube, made of durable plastic, attaches to the lawn tractor and curves around to the rear, where you suspend the two 6-1/2-bushel grass catcher bags. The bags do too drag!
This system is a nightmare all the way around because it is designed so it is tilted downward from the MTD 400 frame so the bags drag on the ground and neither I nor any of the servicemen I've consulted can do anything about it.
Because they drag, the bags wear through around the edges in about a month's time, and because they drag duct tape is not the answer.
Fortunately, even with holes in them and after the dump handles break off, because they drag on the ground, you can with care continue to catch the grass and empty it for about a season. If you buy replacement bags from the dealer they cost about $75 a pair and you have to mount them on the frames. Wholesale on the Internet you can get a pair for about $27-35.
This tractor isn't made any more and when something other than routine maintenance comes up the dealers just shrug and roll their eyes. The deck takes four hours to remove if you know what you're doing. Now that transmission parts are wearing out, and you can't get them it is good to reconsider if you are considering buying one of these machines used.
If you are really determined however, I can make you such a deal....

Wrong grasscatcher model.
I bought a grass catcher for my Toro lawn tractor, made by the Arnold Corporation.Model:OEM-190-602.Today, i tried to install it!First off, the framework was bent, where the liftable hood is screwed on!After much pulling in the bench vise, i finally got it to close!After that, i tried installing the tube and collector thing that goes on the deck! The rubber bungees were too long! Then the bungees that hold the tube parts together were too long! And the tube was too long! And the name was wrong: "Fast attach"! And, the hood wouldn't open far enough to get the grass bags out!So, i guess i'm stuck with the thing, or i have about 10 hours of modifications to make it fit!The place where i bought it sent two "scalawags" out to install it, but 10 minutes later, they threw their hands up, tossed the pieces back into the box-andLEFT!
So, what do i do now? Please advise!
