Reconditioned Makita Belt Sander Not Reliable
I was pleased with the price of the factory reconditioned Makita R9910 Belt Sander, but after VERY limited use, I find it would not start with out a "push", and now, after owning it for 2 years, but using it very little, it has refused to start at all.I have been unhappy with its poor reliability and would not buy another reconditioned Makita product.

USED - not reconditioned
I just received my sander, which seems to work fine......but calling it "reconditioned" should be false advertising.This is a USED piece of equipment.If it was reconditioned, it wouldn't arrive covered in a thick layer of oiley sawdust, with rust on the base plate.The least they could do is wipe it off if they had it in the factory.A manual and warrantee info would be nice to have as well. ... Good value for the money
I wanted a reconditioned tool because the cost was cheaper than a brand new one. Considering I do yardwork only 1-2 times per month, I didn't need a "really good" one.

This B&D trimmer did a good job on branches up to 3/8" thick. Anything thicker will result in "tearing" instead of cutting.

It's fairly loud and the ergonomics are not that great. However, for the price I paid here on Amazon, it is a good deal.

The best!
If you are looking for a trimmer that can deal with shrubs and bushes in the heat, or extended running time, this is it! The price is appropriate, and the quality that you will get from it is outstanding!

Last year I bought a lawn mower; my wife was so satisfied with this purchase from Amazon, that this was the first place she looked when shopping for a badly needed hedge trimmer.

Suffice to say, we were not disappointed. The purchase arrived at our home from the Amazon.com Tool Crib in North Dakota in a timely manner via UPS; the hedge trimmer was already assembled, in mint condition (for a reconditioned item), and it came with a new purchase warranty, but not at a new-purchase price.

It is an excellent trimmer; sturdy, lightweight and easily manuverable. My 100lb. wife took a turn playing with it and was able to wield this baby in a manner that make a fan of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies proud!

For the price, I would highly recommend this product, if you are in the market for a good, reliable, sturdy and easy-to-use hedge trimmer.

Best In Its Class
Plenty of power- doesn't bog down. Long lived ....... in shops I've worked in PC was the sander of choice.Belt tracks very well. The variable speed is handy and is a separate wheel control as it should be. At this price and the full warranty it's a no brainer. You could pay more and get a lot less sander.

Need to remove alot of stock?This sander is the best.
After trying several belt sanders on the market, I was extremely happy to come across this one.For starters, it never bogs down. No matter how much pressure is put on the platen or how long it runs, the motor never bogs.That was the main problem with other belt sanders I have used.

The sander also has some heft to it.It is not a light weight machine.This is good because it doesn't need a lot of extra force to remove a lot of stock, and the weight helps to keep it on track.If weight is a concern for you, you need to look elsewhere.Although the "elsewhere" sanders won't work as well!

This sander is tough.I was sanding a faceframe one day when my partner accidentally unplugged the machine.I set the machine down (this part is embarrassing) forgetting to turn the trigger off.When I plugged it back in, it pulled itself across the bench and onto the floor before I realized what was happening.It bounced a couple of times and continued across the floor before pulling the plug from the outlet.It purrs like a lion to this day.There has been other times when it has been dropped or stepped on and has never had any problems.

The only drawback, and the reason I gave it only 4 stars, is the dust bag.It gets in the way sometimes when working on other than horizontal surfaces.It can be swung around, though, to the left or right out of the way.Also, the dust bag forms a rub hole, right at the top where the aluminum tube ends inside the bag.I've sealed it with clear silicone which works fine. ... Just used this nailer for 27 square and had no problems, but use good quality nails.

I've always liked the RN175 Porter Cable roofer. a shoeless wonder
The black shoe falls off regularly (which knocks the transparent covers off, as well).Received a replacement, but don't know if it's going to work.Grat for sawing curves with bevels...just can't saw straight at 90 degrees.Blades bend from lateral movement while sawing.Not a good 'un.Go with Bosch or Porter Cable.Got sharp teeth?Buy a coping saw.Or a knife.Wish I had....

I am on my second saw in 6 months with little use

Good points:

Lots of power
Accepted universial and T shank blades

Bad points:
Sole plate sticks and is hard to accurately adjust.
Both saws pulled to the left when cutting.
Could not cut a straight line using a guide fence, blade would pop out of guide roller or pull the wood lose from a clamped down guide fence resulting in a bowed cut. The cut was also off perpenducilar. Got two different stories from Dewalt on this. One person said it should saw with a guide fence(straightedge) another person said it wouldn't and I needed to buy a different tool.

Need to improve Keyless blade
I purchased this item and the only problem that I have found is the keyless blade system. The operator manual doesn't mention that you must have the blade attachment at the right position before the keyless blade will function.To set the blade attachments to the right position you will have to operate the jig saw and try to stop the reciprocating blade shaft attachment to the exact position. An amazing tool for the home shop enthusiast or professional woodworker.This device has a simple and comfortable feel to it and requires little practice to master.The easy to read and precise blade depth adjustment is one of the best features of this product.The location of the cord exit is also a nice and well thought out feature.I had to retire (begrudgingly) my Makita planer that dad passed on to me after many years and thousands of hours of trouble free use.the DeWalt name has proven itself time and time again as an industry leader in quality for professionals and new users.To prove the quality if the tool, we demonstrated the power of the planer on an 8" diameter green pine log at the hardware show here in the Twin Cities.I had many amazed looks as we accurately shaved off the bark and worked the piece down to a nice & clean square in short order.**Please do not try this with your tools at home as it is not designed for this particular use.**It was utilized as a drastic example to prove the power and functionality of the tool.You are always at your own risk with any tool. Dewalt vs. Bosch
First I bought here on ToolCrib the Bosch 3727DEVS 6" and Bosch 3725DEVS 5" random orbital sanders and loved them. They are both good tools. I manufacture R/C model sailboats out of fiberglass and I have used them every day for a year now and they are excellent. So.. when DeWalt ran their special last month for $250.00+ purchase I need to "fill out" my order and I picked up a RECONDITIONED DW423KR 5".

I did not expect it to be as good as the Bosch...WHAT A SURPRISE I received! It is smaller and lighter than the Bosch sanders, and does not have the added handle they have which means it can get into tighter areas... but then does not have the pure power of being able to manhandle it because of the missing handles. ok,... it is as smoooooth as the Bosch 6" which has the extra ballbearing set the Bosch 5" does not. Power? The DeWalt is ever bit the heavy duty tool they say it is packed into that little frame and it came with it's own case/box which is always a plus with me.

The DW423KR uses the same hook/loop paper you use on your other 5" sanders and has the same 8 hole dust removal pattern. A small shopvac will take the dust right off the project surface when you mount it to the dust exhaust.

The only thing I can knock the DW423KR on is that while it is a variable speed tool... it is basically variable between medium and high... there is not much if any range in a low or slow speed.... so you have to back off your grit instead of just backing the speed way down. Other than that.. it is almost a magic wand that makes the errors go away.

Fantastic, but the newer MForce is Better
This drill is the perfect tradeoff between weight and power.The 18Vs are just too heavy for long use.This drill will easily snap the heads of screws if you don't pay attention to the clutch setting.I have never felt that this didn't have enough power, and have often wished for a little lighter.But, unfortunately, you don't save much weight with the lower voltage drills.I change the chuck on mine to a 1/2" which leads me to the title.The newer MForce is one of the only 12V drills on the market to come with a 1/2" chuck standard (not all versions). ... Fast but has problems
I've owned this sander for several years. The dust collection tube worked at first but then wouldn't stay on. Now the off/on switch broke. Too bad. This is a fast, smooth sander with problems.

Fine Little Sander
Received my reconditioned sander the other day and used it immediatly out of the box (very fast shipping!).It fit my palm perfect, floats over the wood like a charm and is fun to sand with.The most annoying thing is that the dust collector pops off for no apparent reason every 1-2 minutes and spreads a very fine powder all over the place....very messy to say the least!I attribute this to it being used and/or weak rubber O-rings which hold it in place.Highly recommend this and most PC products! ... I would give it six stars if I could!
I have owned this drill for many years and it still works like new. In the age of 18v and greater cordless power, people are forgetting what a great drill this is - at about half the weight of its big brothers. Although I am not a contractor using my drill all day every day, it has seen hard use. I have used it exclusively to renovate two houses (including drywall hanging), build a 24x45 pole barn, and countless woodworking and home repair projects. If this drill ever dies I will buy the exact same product to replace it. I can't think of a better testimonial than that.

Great Drill!!
This drill, although not the most powerful, has a great power to weight ratio. The batteries charge last a reasonable amount of time, and the balance is good. The 18V drills are nice, but a bit on the heavy side for all day use.

Personally I find this drill the best for all around use.

I bought this drill about a year ago, & have really enjoyed it's compact POWER.I have put it to some really tough assignments & it has never let me down. After it was stolen, I bought another 9.6 volt product on sale (Black & Decker Firestorm CO231).While it is a good drill for screwdriving, it lacks power to drill very well.There is a big difference in the way the drills feel, with the DeWalt drill having the most substancial feel. Both drills have adjustable clutches to prevent overtightening of screws.And both have batteries that recharge in a few hours. However, after using both drills for a while now, I will have another DeWalt DW926K-2R drill in my tool box again very soon! ... Read more

Not reconditioned, just broken
I purchased this set and found it to be returns that were not fixed.I have purchaced reconditioned porter cable tools before with no problems.Each component of this Dewalt set had a problem.The drill had a slipping clutch, one battery had a loose clip that would not stay in the tool, the saw clearly had a problem in the gears from the sound.

Selling this item as "reconditioned" is false advertising.

Ships with weak batteries.
Good set but I have had problems with the batteries that are shipping with these sets.The last 4 DeWalt reconditioned cordless tool sets I have purchased were shipped with batteries dated 2001 and most of those batteries have poor run time and low power.Compared to brand new batteries the difference is noticable.The 1-year warranty will get you a new battery if you find a service center that will replace them without a hassle.My service center does replace them, but they complain about it and I every time I take one in I am afraid they will refuse.For the price difference ($70) I recommend the new set which should come with batteries made in 2003. ... mine isn't reconditioned..
I bought my drill at a local hardware store a little over a year ago..it was a kit identicle to the one above, except it is/was not reconditioned..

absolutely bomb proof..mine fell off the roof of a two story building and landed on the chuck on a brick patio and it still drills straight with no wobble, although when it bounced it hit the corner of a stray brick and chipped the battery, but it didn't go all the way through the case and it still works fine..A little while later, it fell about 1 story onto an aluminum scaffold plank and it wasn't harmed by that either..I've used and abused this drill terribly, and it still works fine..I'm sticking with dewalt cordless for the rest of my investments from now on, in spite of what my co-workers have said about dewalt quality..after hundreds of charges on each battery, many of them quick charges, it will still drill several 1/2" holes through 1/8" thick steel with a dull reduced shank bit and still have enough power to shoot a heap of 2" screws into CCA decking.. ... doesn't work right
The volume control is haywire!Just touch it and the volume goes so loud!But that's the only time I get sound from the left speaker, otherwise it only plays from the right speaker and the left is dead.Not worth a red cent!Don't buy a reconditioned tool.This is the second time this has happened to me with reconditoned tools.I wouldn't give it even one star!

great radio
I really like this radio for the reason that I don't have to keep buying batterys. This thing will play for a long time on my 18 volt battery.

Music to my ears
I've used the Dewalt DW911R radio & battery charger daily for the past couple months, and it has performed great. The radio really works well and tunes in all my stations.
